Did you have Sydney when she was diagnosed with PSSM? What were her symptoms? I know a horse that's suspected to have PSSM but the owner is looking for more info from others with the diagnosis before doing a biopsy. (Thank you, if you reply, I appreciate it a lot.)

I got Sydney when she was 3, and she was diagnosed when she was 5. Horses start to show symptoms anywhere between ages 3 and 7. I have heard of some people noticing symptoms as young as weanling or yearling as well. However, I think it is most typical to start noticing symptoms around the 3 to 7 age range because this is when most horses are started under saddle and expected to start doing a "real job."

For Sydney, the most obvious symptoms where inability to pick up her hind legs to be cleaned or to hold them up for the farrier. Inability to pick up the canter or hold the canter when she did finally fall into it. She would get a "flat tire" feeling behind at just about any gait. Her butt muscles were rock hard. She also parked out like a TWH. At 5 she had her first typing up episode. I had a vet out to look at her when she was 4 and that vet diagnosed her with a slipping stifle, so I was treating her for that, but nothing was getting better for obvious reasons. In fact, looking a bit wonky behind has constantly plagued us throughout our lives now. I think it might be partially due to how she is built, but I also wonder how much the PSSM ties into that. After her diagnosis I was able to start her on the PSSM diet and almost all of her symptoms went away. The last time she tied up was during the early days of COVID when we were restricted from going to the barn and I couldn't get her out and get her moving like she needed to. She will still park out, but at this point I am not sure if that's just a habit or from actual discomfort. She is as well managed as she can possibly be.

MxN Week Day 4: Comfort

A knock on the door of his bedroom suite alerted Nephrite to the arrival of his order. He rose to answer, only to be tugged back down onto the bed.

“Stay,” Makoto groaned.

“I’d love to,” he said, leaning in to kiss his beloved’s forehead, “but your food is here.”

Makoto rolled her eyes.

“Food!” she said, half-exasperated, “I don’t think I could eat anything if I made it myself!”

“I know, babe. But you really need to keep your strength up.”

Gently pulling away, Nephrite went to the door and opened it to reveal a maid waiting with a covered tray.

“Hoping Lady Jupiter feels better soon,” she said, handing him the tray.

Plain wheat toast, plain noodles, rice, and chicken. That’s what Mamoru and Ami had said was good for a stomach bug. that’s what he’d ordered from the castle kitchen, and that’s what it smelled like had been delivered.

Thanking the maid, Nephrite closed the door and returned to the bedside.

“You’d think Crystal Tokyo would have a cure for stomach bugs,” Nephrite said, sitting down, “what did our resident doctors say, anyway?”

“Just a twenty-four-hour bug,” Makoto said. The smile she tried to give him looked more like a grimace.

"Four hours in and you're looking better already," Nephrite said, removing the lid from the tray and taking a spoonful of rice.

"Still don't like being cooped up like this," Makoto said.

"Even with me?"

This time, Makoto's smile didn't look forced.

"Well, you do make everything better."

"So glad you noticed. Now, Say 'aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah."

Leaning up, Makoto took proffered rice and chewed carefully.

"You know what I love about you?" she said.

"Other than that I'm as gorgeous as you? Or that I can bench just about as much as you can?"

Makoto smirked.

"I was going to say that you're such a comfort, but I think we could add humility to the list."

Buck Knee

 This is a forward deviation in which the knee is set too far forward in relation to the leg. Even though over at the knees is a structural fault, many horses with this condition have long, productive performance careers.  This is either congenital (they were born with it) or can be result of an injury to the check ligament or tendons in back of the knee. If a horse has buck knees, the knee will be forward of the line that divides the foreleg in half. This makes the horse susceptible to bowed tendons.

Splay Foot

A term used to describe a horse that stands with its toes pointing out (laterally) . More common in horses with a base wide conformation. Also known as duck footed.

What is a ewe neck in horses? a thin neck with a concave arch occurring as a defect in dogs and horses. These horses will often struggle to build a healthy topline and will look “ewe necked”. Horses with over used neck muscles can benefit greatly from massage, stretching and mobilization exercises. Pain relief can be achieved if the muscles can relax and move normally

Wall eye

In horses, a blue coloured eye is called a “wall eye”. Horses may have two blue eyes or could have one blue and one brown eye. The blue colour is caused by lack of pigmentation in the iris.

FAT HORSES

When a horse gains excess body weight as fat (adipose tissue), their performance and use declines. Bearing excess body weight impacts hoof health by weakening the hoof wall, heel buttress, and bars of the foot. Obesity is a risk factor for developing osteoarthritis and other joint problems.

SWEETS

Feeding a healthy horse three or four sugar cubes is unlikely to cause a significant glucose spike; however, for a horse with uncontrolled IR, PSSM, or a laminitis history, feeding sugar cubes isn't a risk worth taking. Skip the sugary treats, too, if your horse is overweight, especially if he has a cresty neck

Non en vrai elle est une femme incroyable et elle m'a donnée l'envie de devenir une actrice malgré mon anxiété et ma timidité j'ai envie de devenir une actrice, tourner dans des séries et films, faire des promotions et rencontrer des coeurs inconnus qui aiment mon travail et qu'ils me soutiennent. Commencer par le vlogging c'est vraiment un premier pas pour moi car j'ai déjà lancé mon premier vlog tour (qui est d'ailleurs pas très réussi mais au moins je l'ai publié) et me lancer ma carrière de vlogueuse sur Youtube c'est comme si je tournais ma propre série et que je joue un personnage principal, je deviens l'héroïne de ma série. Pour moi c'est mon premier pas de filmer et raconter une histoire de mon personnage principal.

Je remercie vraiment Zendaya pour ce qu'elle est et j'admire énormément son travail d'actrice et de productrice elle est incroyable et j'ai envie de travailler dans ce milieu tout comme elle. Alors moi je fais à ma version, je me lance dans le vlogging en tant que vlog character (personnage de vlog)... Je filmerai 24h/24 mon quotidien à Toronto au Canada, je parlerai de mon engagement à la santé mentale chez PSSM France en tant que secouriste pour aider les gens et de les rassurer qu'ils ne seront jamais seuls.

Encore un joyeux anniversaire à elle, elle m'a vraiment sauvée la vie concernant mon avenir et qui j'ai envie de devenir pour poursuivre mes rêves...

I follow a creator that got a PSSM horse in the last couple of years and watching some of their videos is just…so painful… PSSM horses can still be well behaved, well adjusted individuals. They don’t need to be running you over, not standing for basic vet work, etc just because they have PSSM. If your horse is in so much pain from their PSSM that they are a danger to handle, you need to make some much more serious decisions with your vet.

The storm outside seemed to rumble the Crystal Palace, the winds howling like ghosts and wolves had joined a choir together as rain hit the window like a million drumming fingers. But within Makoto’s room, it felt like that energy was trapped and being passed between two people.

Makoto couldn’t stop the grin on her face as a flash of lightning illuminated her lover’s face, his lower lip trapped between his teeth as he looked up at her with lust-darkened eyes, his hair spread out on the pillow.

She couldn’t explain it. Even back before she had even started as Sailor Jupiter, rough weather seemed to bring out a giddiness in her. Static would frizz and jump from her fingers, she’d be jumping off the walls and doing a million things a million miles a minute and feel her heart pound with every flash of lightning.

And when a passing young man caught her eye…

She couldn’t explain why it was like this.

And it had only gotten worse when Nephrite had been reborn.

Nephrite.

Nephrite, her lost love found.

Nephrite, who'd become her adoring husband.

Nephrite, who checkmarked all the boxes for her perfect man.

She ran a hand down his chest through his sleep shirt. His shudder seemed to cause one of her own.

She'd been feeling this way since the rain had first drizzled in the early morning. And being cooped up in a big familiar palace was still being cooped up.

But the night was still young, however, and she had lightning in her veins to burn off.

And from the way Nephrite gripped her thighs and bucked his hips, so did he.
