Above the door it says in latin “The Lord shall preserve your going in & your going out”(Psalm 121:8). The evidence points to this being the home of Caiaphas, the high priest in Jerusalem, with a prison underneath where Jesus Christ was kept overnight before being condemned.

This church was built above what is believed to be Caiaphas’ House. The owner was rich enough to have his own ritual baths, students & religious leaders would have visited him here & it’s in the location that the historian Josephus identifies. History, ancient documents & oral tradition point to this being the place where Jesus was brought to be condemned.
