Measuring Social Media

Depending on your organization's goals and objectives, Social Media can be measured intwo ways:

1.     Continuous analytics: general activity over an extended period of time.

2.     Campaign metrics: a specific tracking to help gain an understanding of your goals and/or initiatives (Davis, 2012).

 Indicators:

Measuring awareness: look at volume, how far is your content reaching publics.

Measuring engagement: looking at number of tweets, retweets, hashtags, comments, likes, replies and/or number of participants in the conversation.

Measuring traffic: look at number of visits to your website and/or shares of your website.

 Monitoring and evaluation:

Did the numbers exceed business goals and expectations since using Social Media? Compare quantifiable numbers depending on your indicators.

After assessing adjust based on feedback and continue to track progress.
