What if Dimitri from 3H met Dainslief?

ngl i started playing genshin because people kept talking about how dainslief looks like dimitri

THIS!! When I finally met Dain in the game, I really did think of Dimitri! I’m not as knowledgeable as I’d like in the Blue Lions and Golden Deer Routes + the characters connected to them [Black Eagle player here hehe], but let’s think about that chance encounter.

I think that Dimitri [Dedue as well?] and Dainsleif might be able to get along, but really I think it depends on which Dimitri meets Dain?

Dainsleif meeting Pre-Timeskip!Dimitri [or Young Dima, because yes] would go well..?? I think that Dain could end up being like a retainer to Dimitri. Considering Dainsleif has already experienced losing his homeland, and Dimitri next in line to being the next king means that Dainsleif could advise him in a way? Plus, Dedue and Dain seem like they would be able to get along well!

Timeskip!Dimitri in the [early] Blue Lions route is uh…yeah I don’t think that may go well. In fact, I think that Dain would look at Dimitri with distain and pity. His survivor’s guilt being much worse + being blinded with vengeance to the point of seeing his former classmates as tools for this revenge..I don’t think that would go over well with Dainsleif. Camaraderie with his former royal knights seems like something Dain might value [or at the very least remember well]. But later on in Azure Moon maybe they could reconcile? Or perhaps Dainsleif would just leave him alone in the Professor’s care. Let’s not forget that Dainsleif doesn’t really care about other crises unless they involve the Abyss Order or Khaenri'ah, so even if Dainsleif got thrown into Fodlan I don’t think he would really concern himself with anything goin on.

Three Hopes!Dimitri and Dainsleif would get along better than Three Houses Timeskip!Dimitri any day. I don’t make the rules.

OMG It really kills me when people talk about like "Kaeya's roots and loyalty" like...he pretty much doesn't have any "roots" and is only loyal to the place he was raised in?? All he really knows, at least from his narrative, is Mondstadt. We can only infer from his and Diluc's side of their stories that Kaeya was only a young boy (so like a child to pre-teen age) when he was taken in.

It's not like he kept an accent (even Dainslief doesn't have one, and he's the only other person we can infer is from Khaenri'ah). The only assumptions, and this is a major reach, that he kept some sense of his homeland is his fashion choices (I've seen someone mention his furred cape can imply he might be royalty.) He really doesn't have any kind of form of attachment (i.e. emotional, familial) from what we can tell.

Also, as you mentioned and from Kaeya's unreliable narration in his unlockable character story, even his own father didn't want him on some scale and held resentment towards him. As far as we know, its not like his father struggled to leave him behind, he just kinda said "Do your duty and don't fuck this up for us," and dipped. Even touching upon his falling out with Diluc, he states that he only came forward because he just couldn't keep going at the rate he was. He didn't intentionally confess to Diluc that night to hurt him, especially after their father passed.

Which is a whole other issue. If he felt so anxious and guilty over his past/heritage when he came forward to Diluc, what sense does it make that he felt actual joy over his adoptive dad's death? He was only "relieved" because it was one less person to keep lying to, it's not like he was dancing on his dead corpse over it. He even felt that he wasn't worthy in a way to go through the processions with Diluc, so it's not like he had some hidden agenda or some sort behind his death.

He was aware that the timing wasn't good, but Kaeya felt guilty and anxious and thats why he came to Diluc's door in the middle of the night to tell him what he was hiding. If anything, Kaeya had/has (because they still show they care about each other) such a deep love for Diluc and his adoptive family that he wanted Diluc to know the truth. And like you said, if he really was still all in for Khaenri'ah after exposing his hand to Diluc, he would of attempted to kill Diluc then (especially with just inheriting a Vision) or fulfill taking down Mondstadt or whatever his real ambiguous objective is.

I do believe he hasn't made a clean cut as Mona suggests because just like Kaeya, we have an unreliable narration on anything about Khaenri'ah or himself, so I'm sure there is still something tying him there in some sense. Plus, after him and Diluc fell out, it's not like his status or mission magically disappeared and he was absolved of being an implanted spy. Him and Diluc have pretty much come to terms with it, but I'm sure Kaeya is still apprehensive about never having closure or a clean cut from his past that was basically forced upon him as a young child.

I seriously don't believe he would ever chose his birthplace and cross an entire land that raised, cared, and loved him. Especially if it means hurting or losing the Favonius members as well as Diluc again.

I have so many thoughts about Kaeya and Kaeya alone. Tbh they have been marinating around in my brain and I'm going to jot them down

I hate a lot of the jokes surrounding Kaeya bc they are really just beyond oversexualizing or pretty much insensitive on some level

--"He's fugged 99% of Mondstadt!!" "Big tiddy dilfy man!!" "Masochistic dummy thicc Daddy!!" um...can we not reduce him to like a slutty himbo. I understand thats just how fandom gets (to an extent) and I do see that dude is hot but this is literally erasing all of his character. He's far more complex and interesting than what the fandom pushes onto him and its really sad tbh.

Literally nowhere in his character profile does it say or can be inferred that he uses sex-appeal or seduces his targets to gain information, he is just well known for his charm and silver tongue to manipulate info out of people. While he is a knight/Calvary Captain, he also lowkey runs in the informant circles and knows how to get his way to get his work done.

--Kaeya has a very minor "masochistic" trait where he likes to see people sweat over a situation, but he never leaves them to die or sets them up to fail just for fun. He's very unorthodox, but he isn't this complete sociopathic psycho that enjoys seeing people in pain or suffering for laughs. (He also isn't some diet Christian Grey that is a sexual masochist, if anything leave that for the fandom/your fanfics.)

Even webtoon Kaeya gets shit over the Collei situation when it was supposed to make you connect the parallels between them not "Kaeya is insane and I wish Collei would end him 😌"

--Fandom reads one word and runs away with it without actually taking it in. He says one line when talking to Sara of Good Hunter "I thought we had quite the intimate relationship" and its automatically equated to sex or something sexual just bc he used the word "intimate". Kaeya speaks a bit florally to reinforce his charming/manipulative way of speaking. It wouldn't make sense for a character well known to have a silver tongue and be an excellent smooth-talker speak so basically and plain. Plus, he was in front of the traveler, so why would he say something suggestive like that out in the open?? Make it make sense.

--His comments on Albedo and Sucrose got so weirdly warped by the fandom that it actually creeps me out a little. Everyone jumped on the "freaky-bi-bandwagon" and it came across more fetishy than anything else to me. Point is, read a thesaurus and learn context clues, please.

--"OMG FRUITY SKEWERS!! LMAO HES FRUITY 👀💅" This one bothers me on a personal level so idk if anyone else feels the same. When I first read his character recipe, I just thought/kinda assumed he used fruit juices to marinate the meat since that is a style of cooking some poc use as well as myself coming from a mixed family with a poc mother.

It kinda feels insensitive to joke about his sexuality (not that it has anything to do with the story/game/him as a character itself. also, it could literally be anything, I'm just saying in general) on that kind of scale as well as like ?? a cooking style that is traditional to some people?? Idk. It really felt off when I was like "cool, he uses a cooking style like that!" and then it was just comments left and right screaming that it was like some sort of subliminal message that clearly meant he was gay.
