Question for the mun: What drew you to Dantalion in the first place?

I went into the muse decision process with some reasonable restrictions in place: I wanted a demon from the Ars Goetia who was not already represented among the muses of the rp blogs I was following and wanted to interact with. Basically, I already had a slot I needed to fit a muse into, as well as a nice, contained list to pick from.

Many of the Goetian demons struck me as ill-suited for rping, such as, for example, Vepar, whose notable characteristics include being able to make the sea look like it has lots of ships in it, and making wounds get worms in them. I wanted someone that gave me more to write about, but also who wasn’t too OP to write without writing myself into a corner (as with a future-teller, of which there are just SO MANY). Thus, the list was very quickly pared down to a shortlist of ten or fewer options.

Eventually I whittled it down to four options. Y’all almost got a Bathin, a Sitri, or (most entertainingly) a Zagan.

Ultimately, I decided that Bathin was just the mild to Dantalion’s spicy, Zagan’s quirk for changing things into other things could only be played for laughs for so long, and (if I considered the long term) Sitri’s power to make people take off their clothes just didn’t quite hold a candle to the ability to read and alter minds.Really, me choosing Dantalion was a process of elimination from a list of 72.

Once I’d chosen him, though, everything fell into place fairly quickly. I had all the major beats of his backstory planned in detail before I created this blog, even though they wouldn’t become relevant for a few months after. From the time I decided to rp a Goetic demon to the time I started the blog proper was less than a week, but in that time, the Tal you know and love was fully developed as a character. (Which is not to say, of course, that he does not continue to develop!)Later, I tried again with one of the demons from my reject pile (Crocell), but my original fears bore out: Some demons are just harder to write than others. That blog is on an indefinite hiatus.

well now you’ve reached the snub in the math, which is where we don’t really have a consensus on how to handle these sort of counting systems linguistically. There have been a few attempts to create terms for these not-10s and so forth, but my personal favorite is to mix english with a proposed new set of names, so it would go one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, unty, unty-un, unty-du, unty-tre, and he had a whole set of duty, trety (Also re-named the first seven as well but w/e). Or at least, I preferred that until ‘hunty’ came into vogue and now it makes the whole base-eight 10-set feel very aggressive.

Still the best linguistic option I’m aware of imo.

The words upon which he had accidentally eavesdropped echoed in young Dantalion's head as he crashed through the forest on all fours. Silent tears splattered down his chest and arms, watering the claw-tilled soil with drops of poison along the way.

Who? Danny? Nothing special.

A clearing opened up ahead with a single tree at its center, and Dantalion slammed into it at full throttle, immediately tearing off chunks with his claws and teeth.

Nothing special. Good for a fuck, though.

It had been their tree, a fine birchwood under which they had speculated and played and, yes, fucked. More than once. But more than that.

Good for a fuck.

Dantalion choked down one bite of the wood after another, struggling to drown the voice in his head with the sensation of coarse sweetness. When he was done, not a scrap of the tree would be left. He would make sure of it. After all, it was nothing special.

[I recognize a grand total of one (1) song anD IT's BUTTERFLIES AND HURRICANES <3 ]

A little story about that song.

So I discovered that song while I was playing Need For Speed Most Wanted (2012), and it was the introductory song while I was in the tutorial and explaining the basic goal of the game.

It fit so well because I imagine these small montage clips in my head of Kalin driving and racing around the city, pulling off drifts, donuts, etc. and just going with the flow of the music. They’re more inspirational based than action based and yeah Kalin’s always got a grimacing smirk on xyrs face when driving because xe is a clever racer :3.

Writing Meme

What is your total word count on AO3?

171369 (that’s a novel right there, isn’t it?)

How often do you write?

I try to RP basically on the daily now because I fell into and then died there. I used to write fiction all the time and I don’t know what happened, so I have to find a little surge of motivation every like month or so and ride it until I burn out. I need to get back into it again.

Do you have a routine for writing?

I wish. I used to do it every night. But not anymore suckers, let’s roll!

What are your favourite kinks/tropes/pairing?

Kinks: Listen. Listen, you gotta restrain them. You gotta. Restraints and ruins are just rife in all my fics now. It happens. We’re all over it. Tropes: Is hurt/comfort a trope? I feel like I go for that every time. I try to write comedic stuff and woop, there we go again. Ya hurt your characters and now you have to kiss them better, you idiot. Pairing: I have a tag that is literally “Stucky Till I die” but I’ve been basically only writing fics for Kragdu, I had one for Stamora, and I have fallen down the well that is Newmann.

Do you have a favourite fic of yours?

I’m actually pretty proud of my Stranger Things fic: Nobody Said It’d Be This Hard. It’s a rare goddamn one-shot that was just the right amount of fluff, I think.

Your fic with the most kudos?

That would be Aim to Fire, which was my very first piece put up on AO3 yoooooooooo.

Anything you don’t like about your writing?

Oh my god I just drag on and on, can you shut up for two seconds? Also I notice every single paragraph that starts out with a character’s name and I’m trying to break that habit. Is it easy? Hell fucking no, but here we are.

Now something you do like (about your writing)?

Sometimes I am accidentally clever and it amuses the shit out of me. Do I think I’m actually clever? No. Not at all. But sometimes it sneaks in there and I’m like ohohohohoho I see what you did there (to myself).
