Going a leetle bit insane about the continuity between no burden historian and home video despite all three having like distinct sounds like..... the through line of all three albums being about like documenting and archiving and recounting the past particularly obviously historian and home video but also no burden to some extent (‘I watched all my journals turn to smoke/now all there is is what I spoke’) LIKE!! It’s about history and storytelling and how you carry people with you as stories and you turn yourself into a story and how so many of her songs feel as if they’re past tense like everything has already happened or she’s watching it happen and knows how it’s going to end. like dream state... and ...familiar place on no burden sharing the without you I am surely the last of my/our kind motif like they’re creating a story and an identity together that ONLY exists between the two of them and then historians the title track (close enough) of historian being about two people who are like writing their history together as they go I’ll be your historian and you’ll be mine but this time when the other person is gone they’ll have those memories to look back on and they won’t be as alone as in dream state/familiar place and THEN triple dog dare on home video being the only one where she says that it’s not based in reality and she was creating a story where she had been braver and her and her friend had run away together GOD I have been on a train all day and am on my second listen through of her full discography so I am losing my mind but it’s ABOUT STORIES AND MEMORY AND NOSTALGIA AND STORYTELLING ITS MAKING ME CRAZYYYY
