So the first step in testing wood moisture meter was to check its accuracy. For that, we took a different type of woods. Woods with different density and moisture were used. We checked it with dried up wood. The reading was 0. Next, we tested different woods with different with different moisture level. The readings were close. Yes, there will always be little difference, but 0.5-1 percent error is acceptable. The accuracy of the Wagner MMC220 is great compared to most of the pinless wood moisture meters.

During tests, we had some moisture meters that had blunt pins. It took some biceps to dug the pins into the woods. However, with Lignomat Moisture Meter Mini-Ligno E/D it is easy.

We tested the meter with woods like fir, cedar, oak, maple, pine, and walnut. With all kind of woods, the reading is accurate. So readings have some error, but it is negligible. Pins enter the woods with ease. Looking at the performance, we realized it is more suitable for housework and some general purpose. But for construction, you must consider some other wood moisture meter. Maximum measuring depth we noticed was around 7/16”.
