ON Semiconductor's Next-Generation 1200 V EliteSiC M3S Devices Improve Energy Efficiency in Electric Vehicle and Energy Infrastructure Applications
ăLansheng Technology InformationăOn May 10, 2023, ON Semiconductor launched the latest generation of 1200 V EliteSiC silicon carbide (SiC) M3S devices, helping power electronics engineers achieve better energy efficiency and lower system costs. New product family includes EliteSiC MOSFETs and modules that help improve switching speeds to accommodate the growing number of 800 V electric vehicle (EV) on-board chargers (OBC) and EV DC fast charging, solar solutions, energy storage and more Energy infrastructure applications.
The portfolio also includes new EliteSiC M3S devices featuring half-bridge Power Integrated Modules (PIMs) with industry-leading ultra-low Rds(on) in standard F2 packages. These modules are ideal for DC-AC, AC-DC and DC-DC high power conversion stages in industrial applications. They offer higher levels of integration with an optimized direct-bond copper design for balanced current sharing and thermal distribution between paralleled switches. These PIMs are designed to provide high power density and are suitable for energy infrastructure, DC fast charging of electric vehicles and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS).
"ON Semiconductor's latest generation of automotive and industrial EliteSiC M3S products will help designers reduce their application footprint and lower system thermal requirements," said Asif Jakwani, senior vice president and general manager of the Advanced Power Division at ON Semiconductor. This helps designers develop High-power converters with higher energy efficiency and higher power density."
Automotive-grade 1200 V EliteSiC MOSFETs are designed for high-power OBCs up to 22 kW and high-voltage to low-voltage DC-DC converters. M3S technology is specially developed for high-speed switching applications and has a switching loss figure of merit that leads similar products.

How PIM for Electrical Distributors Improve Data Accuracy?
Electrical distribution systems rely on accurate, timely, and consistent data to operate efficiently. With countless products, components, and specifications, managing this data effectively can be a daunting task. Distributors face challenges such as incorrect product details, outdated specifications, and inconsistent formats that can lead to costly errors, supply chain inefficiencies, and customer dissatisfaction.
Product Information Management (PIM) systems address these challenges by centralizing, standardizing, and automating the handling of product data. Adopting PIM for Electrical Distributors, they can ensure data accuracy across all channels, enabling smoother operations and better customer experiences. Whether itâs ensuring accurate voltage ratings, compatibility specifications, or product dimensions, a PIM system becomes the cornerstone of efficient product management. This blog explores how PIM improves data accuracy, reduces errors, and streamlines processes in the electrical distribution sector.
Centralized Data Management
One of the primary advantages of a PIM system is its ability to centralize product information. Instead of managing data across multiple spreadsheets or siloed systems, distributors can consolidate all product details in a single source of truth. This eliminates discrepancies that arise when data is spread across various departments and systems.
For instance, in electrical distribution, product details like power ratings, compliance certifications, or installation guidelines must be consistent across catalogues, websites, and internal systems. A PIM ensures that every stakeholder accesses the same, up-to-date information, minimizing errors and fostering operational consistency.
Enhanced Data Validation and Standardization
Electrical products often come with complex specifications that must adhere to industry standards. A PIM system allows for automated validation of data against predefined rules, ensuring accuracy before it is published or shared. For example, it can flag incorrect amperage ratings or incomplete descriptions, enabling distributors to correct errors proactively.
Moreover, PIM standardizes data formats, making it easier to integrate with third-party systems or distribute information to partners and customers. This uniformity reduces the likelihood of misinterpretation or miscommunication, which is critical in the highly technical world of electrical distribution.
Real-Time Updates Across Channels
In an industry where product specifications and availability can change frequently, ensuring real-time updates is essential. PIM for Electrical Distributors facilitates instant synchronization of data across all sales and communication channels, from e-commerce platforms to printed catalogues.
This capability is especially valuable for electrical distributors who deal with high volumes of SKUs (Stock Keeping Units). Whether a manufacturer updates product certifications or introduces a new version, a PIM ensures that these changes are reflected immediately, keeping the distributorâs information current and reliable.
Improved Collaboration Across Teams
Marketing teams can enrich product descriptions with compelling content, while technical teams ensure specifications meet compliance standardsâall within the same system.
For electrical distributors, this collaboration is crucial. For example, accurate data is vital for sales teams when providing quotes, and for logistics teams when managing inventory. A PIM system bridges these functions, reducing errors and enhancing overall efficiency.
Streamlined Compliance Management
Compliance with industry regulations is non-negotiable in electrical distribution. Incorrect or outdated information can lead to penalties or unsafe installations. PIM systems simplify compliance management by ensuring all product data meets regulatory standards.
For example, a PIM can store and organize certifications, safety data sheets, and other compliance documents, making them easily accessible and updatable. This reduces the risk of non-compliance and ensures that distributors can confidently deliver products that meet all requirements.
Final Words
Product Information Management (PIM) is a transformative solution for electrical distributors, enhancing data accuracy, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction. PIM for Electrical Distributors reduce errors, ensures compliance, and fosters team collaboration by centralising and automating data management. To elevate your data management strategy and enhance your operations, explore Bluemeteor.
