Bollywood Movies Part CCVIII

Inspector Jatil Yadav (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) investigates the murder of the influential Raghubeer Singh (Khalid Tyabji) on his wedding night to his young second wife Radha (Radhika Apte). As Jatil investigates, he learns more about Raghubeer’s proclivities and about family secrets long left undisturbed, including the truth about the death of Jatil’s first wife (Natasha Rastogi).

CW for movie: human trafficking, rape, sexual abuse of a minor, some gore. Raat Akeli Hai is a good whodunnit that gives us a satisfying ending, while also being a love story. I enjoyed Jatil and Radha’s interactions, but I loved the performances of Shivani Raghuvanshi and Padmavati Rao as the combative Vasudha (Raghubeer’s niece) and the reprehensible Pramila Singh (Raghubeer’s sister-in-law) respectively. Ila Arun was also good as Jatil’s mother who wants him to get married. Favorite song is Ghoom Charkhya (no subtitles).

Kaajal (Bhumi Pednekar) moves out from her cousin Dolly’s (Konkona Sen Sharma) place when Dolly’s husband Amit (Aamir Bashir) makes a move on her and leaves her hated factory job. To make ends meet, she starts working at an adult call center as Kitty and begins an affair with “Pradeep” (Vikrat Massey), one of her callers. Meanwhile, Dolly deals with trying to make ends meet for her and Amit’s new luxury apartment that under construction and with the backlash against her son Pappu (Kalp Shah) liking girly things.

CW: corporal punishment. Dolly Kitty aur woh Chamakte Sitare is a good film about two cousins and their lives. It does a good job talking about women experiencing sex and desire without punishing them for it. It also doesn’t shy away from showing the realities of the society they live in, but doesn’t make those realities disheartening. A great example of this is the call center and how all the women there support each other. Favorite songs are Neet Ve and Khwabida (audio only). Neither song has subtitles.

Akash (Aditya Roy Kapur) goes to local crime lord Sattu Bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi) to help take down a sex video made of him and his ex-girlfriend Shruti (Sanya Malhotra) without their knowledge. Meanwhile, Aalu (Rajkummar Rao) tries to help the woman he loves, Pinky (Fatima Sana Shaikh), when she comes to him to help get her husband out of jail for being prime suspect in a murder Sattu Bhaiya committed. After being released from prison, Bittu (Abhishek Bachchan), Sattu Bhaiya’s former second in command, meets Mini (Inayat Verma) who has run away from home and agrees with her plan to pretend to kidnap her to get her parents’ attention. Rahul (Rohit Saraf), after being taken by Sattu Bhaiya for being near the murder, manages to get Sattu Bhaiya’s money with the help of nurse Sheeja (Pearle Maaney), but Sattu Bhaiya sends his goons after them to get his money back.

Ludo is an entertaining dark comedy that is structurally based on the board game ludo (more recognizable to Americans as Parcheesi). It was quite entertaining and funny, while also being heartwarming. I loved Bittu and Mini’s story because of how cute it was, especially when Mini prompts Bittu on how to make ransom calls to her parents. Overall, a fun romp. Favorite songs are Qismat Ki Hawa Kabhi Naram (originally from Albela), Aarbaad Barbaad, and Meri Tum Ho. None of the songs have subtitles.

Murali Krishna(Balakrishna) Is an extremely well-known and respected citizen of the tense Anantapur district. Things get problematic in his area when a mine owned by Varadarajulu(Srikanth) creates massive problems for the poor. Murali Krishna confronts Varadarajulu however, he is arrested tragically. As the goons cause more trouble for the family of Murali Krishna, Akhanda(Balakrishna as Aghora) arrives to help everyone. Is this Akhanda? What is his history? And how does he help everyone in what is the story behind Akhanda.

After Legendand Simha the director Boyapati Srinu and actor Balakrishna join forces for their third movie – an all-flashy masala entertainment which is solely based on the main character’s star-power. The story’s plot is diluted because of an unintentional screenplay, and the entire cast is left in the dust to the NBK (including the character he plays). The result could have fans screaming “Jai Balayya” for hours, but it’s not a surprise that Boyapati doesn’t deliver his promise. Murali Krishna (Balakrishna) is a popular man living in the conflict-ridden Anantapur. A farmer, he makes his money to construct hospitals, and to strike when necessary, and also help change factionists so that they can care for the environment and stop using violence. His character almost seems to be an ode to the direction Balakrishna will take in his role. District Commissioner Saranya (Pragya Jaiswal) is determined to make corrupt police officers accountable and probe into the wrongdoings within her district, with the help of the Principal Secretary for Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, Padmavati (Poorna). The majority of the time is spent discussing the way Saranya loves Murali and they build an intimate relationship (after an odd flirtation which takes place in the form of the seatbelts Taati Kallu and the telugu tanam) This isn’t the story they tell.

It is the tale of his long-lost sister Akhanda (Balakrishna in the role of an aghora or a baby) who is separated of his home by an Baba (Jagapathi Babu) due to an obligation to fulfill. It is believed that he was born to correct the wrongs committed by Gajendra Sahu (Niitin Mehta) an infamous, brutal man who manages an ashram and pretends to be holy to hide his crime. The other character in the story there is Varada Rajulu (Srikanth) who is another brutal man who engages in illegal mining for uranium in Nallamala in the disguise that copper mining. When those whose lives Murali promised to defend are taken away, and Saranya is forced to fight for the survival of what’s left of her family. Akhanda embarks on a battle to bring the day back.

Padmavati row: BJP leader offers Rs 10 cr for Deepika, Bhansali head

Haryana's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Chief Media Coordinator Suraj Pal Amu on Sunday passed derogatory remarks against 'Padmavati' filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, actress Deepika Padukone and actor Ranveer Singh.

Amu threatened actor Ranveer Singh, who is playing Delhi Sultanate ruler Alauddin Khilji in the movie, for supporting Bhansali.

"If you (Ranveer Singh) do not take back your words, we will break your legs [Agar tune apne shabd wapas nahin liye, toh teri taango ko todkar tere haathon mein de dengey)," he said, adding slurs against the actor.

He also praised the Meerut youth for announcing Rs 5 crore bounty for beheading Deepika and Bhansali.

"I want to congratulate the Meerut youth for announcing Rs 5 crore bounty for beheading Deepika, and Bhansali. We will reward the ones beheading them, with Rs 10 crore, and also take care of their family's needs," he added.

Chittorgarh Fort: Beauty of Rajputanas

presents royalty and is known for the famous Johar committed by Rani Padmini. The fort is in Chittorgarh, Rajasthan. The fort is made of red stones, and the entire fort looks like a Big Fish. The painted walls of the fort depict the importance of Rajput cultures and tradition.

The Architecture of Chittorgarh Fort

There are many temples, lakes, Columns, and there are approximately seven gates. In ancient times, around 1 00,000 people lived in this fort, but now only 25,000 people reside. Kumbh Mahal (Kumbh Palace) is the oldest Palace of the Chittorgarh fort. This heritage site has its position near Vijay Column (Stambh). This column shows the beauty of the Rajputana culture. The fort has nine floors, and every floor has sculptures of (Hindu Gods and Goddesses). Kirti Column (Stambh) also displays the importance of Rajput traditions with having six floors in it. The tourists are prohibited to visit the Kirti Column.

The place has good connectivity through bus and rail from all the states’ major cities. Udaipur airport is the nearest airport, which is around 56 miles away from it. The fort is 70 kilometers from the airport, which is the nearest destination point towards the fort.

Next is Fateh Prakash Palace and Museum. Earlier, it was a palace only. But now, it has turned into a museum. Here, you can see things, paintings, and the precious sculptures of kings and queens of that time. Another palace named Padmini Palace (Padmavati Palace) is present at the center of a lake into the fort. It is a double-floor building. The palace also goes by the name of Janana Palace. Beside Janana Palace, there is another palace Mardana Palace for the men. Allaudin Khilji saw Rani Padmavati’s shadow from the Mardana Palace and attacked Chittorgarh Palace to win the Queen.

Chittorgarh Fort’s Connections with Bollywood

The famous Bollywood movie “Padmavat” tells the real story behind it. While the film released in theaters, people went to the Mardana Palace and destroyed it from inside. They believed that Allaudin Khilji saw Rani Padmavati from there. So, the palace must be eradicated.
