Writer Spotlight: Rose Sutherland
Rose Sutherland @rosesutherlandwrites is a Toronto-based writer who grew up a voracious reader with an overactive imagination in Nova Scotia (where she once fell off a roof trying to re-enact Anne of Green Gables!). She's been to theatre school in NYC, apprenticed at a pâtisserie in rural France, and currently moonlights as an usher and bartender—in between writing queer folktales, practicing yoga, dancing, singing, searching out amazing coffee and croissants, and making niche jokes about Victor Hugo on the internet. She's mildly obsessed with the idea of one day owning a large dog, several chickens, and maybe a goat. A Sweet Sting of Salt is her debut novel.

Can you tell us about A Sweet Sting of Salt and how you came to write it?
A Sweet Sting of Salt is a queer (f/f) historical reimagining of the classic folktale of the selkie wife, set in 1830’s Nova Scotia. I call it a “reimagining” because while it draws on the folktale, it’s not a retelling of that tale so much as a story playing out in relation to that mythology. I’d wanted to write something centering a love story between two women for a while, but the initial spark came from a Tumblr post! It suggested the idea of selkies testifying before the UN as victims of human trafficking, which reminded me of all the things I disliked about the original folktale and its inherent darkness that is generally glossed over, starting me down the rabbit hole toward finding my own story.
How did you approach research for A Sweet Sting of Salt, and what is a favorite historical fact you learned?
I joke that I did a lot of research by osmosis: I already had a lot of base knowledge about the location, having grown up in Nova Scotia, and then set the story in a period that I’ve been absorbing information about in a low-key way for ages—1832 is also the year of the student rebellion in Les Mis, so I’ve been gleaning tidbits about this era since I first got into the musical and book back in high school. However, I had to do more specific research into things like British divorce law, period midwifery, and animal husbandry. I also visited some small, hyper-local museums on the South Shore that gave me an invaluable glimpse into daily life. I also did some fun practical research into things like “How long does it take to walk from x to y?” and “How cold IS a plunge into this body of water in March?” (Spoiler: Very.) 
A fact that fascinated me but didn’t make it into the book was that some early European settlers in the area were granted lands by luck of the draw, pulling from a deck of playing cards: Each card was assigned to a specific 50-acre lot, and whatever you pulled, you were stuck with it.
When we meet them, Jean and Muirin are isolated for different reasons. What do you hope readers still searching for their people take away from A Sweet Sting of Salt?
That there’s always hope. It’s valuable and important to keep reaching out to the world around you, to be open, and not cut yourself off—the biggest reason for Jean’s loneliness at the beginning of this story is the way she has come to keep everyone around her at arm’s length, shutting herself away out of fear, and refusing to let anyone truly get to know her because she thinks that’s the best way to protect herself from being hurt again. Reaching out to others can take a real act of courage, especially if you’ve had bad experiences in the past, but “your people” will reach back to you.
Found family elements play a strong role throughout the novel, within supernatural and mundane settings and across species. Was this something you intended from the beginning, or did this grow out of writing the relationship between Jean and Muirin?
I always intended for Jean to have a found family of this type, which is something that a lot of queer people identify with, but those bonds also got stronger and more meaningful as I wrote, especially once Jean and Muirin began growing into their own family unit—their new relationship and the real danger that comes along with it put pressures on Jean’s other relationships that I hadn’t originally considered. Disagreements with Anneke and Laurie over Jean’s choices arise from their deep concern and love for her, and her own love and care for them, reflected in her responses, is a big part of what made them feel like a real family, for me. Jean and Laurie always having each other’s backs while also being the first to call one another out on their bullshit ended up being one of my favourite dynamics in the whole book.
The selkie myth carries an inherent element of transformation. What is a character transformation you most enjoyed writing, and why?
On a character level, the change in Jean’s worldview following a conversation with her childhood sweetheart meant a lot to me—it heals an old wound for her. I love how grounded and self-assured she is afterward, in spite of the daunting task still ahead of her. But my favourite transformation to write was the antagonist’s mask-off moment, where they directly threaten Jean for the first time. It’s so sly and coded so that only she will understand the menace behind it, a real dun-duh-dunnn moment, which was a lot of fun for me—I also enjoy the foreshadowing elements in that exchange.
This is your debut novel. Did anything surprise you about getting it from manuscript to published book?
Oh my gosh, how LONG it took! After I finished the original draft and decided it was worth attempting to publish, I spent over a year revising based on my own thoughts, input from beta readers, critique partners, and my mentor, Maureen Marshall (whom I connected with through the now defunct Author Mentor Match program, and whose book, The Paris Affair—about a young gay engineer attempting to help Gustave Eiffel secure the funding to build a certain celebrated Parisian landmark— is coming out in May). After that came a full year of querying agents and getting rejected. A lot. People loved Salty but weren’t quite sure what to do with her or where the book would fit in “the market,” which was hard to deal with at the time but is hilarious in retrospect: Salty was snapped up less than a month after she finally went out on submission! But that was back in 2022, and the book is only coming out now. Publishing can be painfully slow.
You’ve written fanfic in the past—do you have a favorite fanfic trope?
I’m not sure either of these counts as a trope, but I adore a character that’s “pure of heart, dumb of ass”, and love a truly unhinged Fanon Explanation For Canon Object. As a longtime Les Mis stan, I ship Tholomyes/Getting Punched. If you know, you know.
Do you have any favorite queer retellings of folktales you can recommend?
Right here on Tumblr, I’m a huge fan of @laurasimonsdaughter, who writes delightful riffs on classic folktales, truly inventive urban fantasy spins on old lore, and her own original folktales. 
I’m currently reading Spear, an amazing queer, gender-bent, Arthurian novella by Nicola Griffiths. Anna Burke’s books Thorn and Nottingham are up next on my TBR. Lately, I’ve been reading a lot of brilliant queer historicals that aren’t retellings (I recently loved Suzette Meyr’s The Sleeping Car Porter and Heather O’Neil’s When We Lost Our Heads) and wonderful historical retellings that aren’t queer (I highly recommend Molly Greeley’s beautiful, heartbreaking Marvelous, about the real-life couple that inspired Beauty and the Beast). Queer, historical retellings aimed at adults seem to be considered quite niche, still, and can take some digging to find! So, throwing this out to Tumblr: Do you have recommendations for me?
Do you have a writing routine? Is there a place/state of being/playlist you find most conducive to your writing practice?
My routine is chaotic at best, but I find I do my best work earlier in the day, so I usually scribble in my journal while I have breakfast, and then progress to working on my current project as I drink my second cup of coffee. I’m lucky—my day job is an evening gig, which mostly allows me to write on my preferred schedule… but I’ve also been known to have a bolt of inspiration strike at 10pm and dash home to write until well past midnight on occasion. Nothing quite like the hyperfocus zone!
What’s next for you? Are you working on anything you can tell us about?
No official news yet, but I’m currently working on a story set in 18th-century provincial France based on a true unsolved mystery of the past. It has me delving into a very specific branch of French folklore, and I hope future readers will pick up on common threads with one popular fairytale in particular. I’m really excited about where this one is headed, but keeping the details close to my chest for now!

Staunch barrier to this.
Sweets lead to rotten teeth, poor appetites, and softness around the middle & spirit. He doesn’t want Theodore overly coddled, nor given sweets in excess. Dino makes exceptions when invited to tea, as it is expected that they will be served. Being with a baker has led to challenges with his ‘no sugar’ rule as it is literally their profession. Plus, it would be a waste to not try the new creations of one of the finest pâtisserie in the world. His ban on sweets is then lifted but under the guise of ‘science’ for experimenting with their new creations.

Henrique is probably just as guilty of this. He gives his girls anything they want (sometimes to their detriment) and very rarely says no. Unfortunately, this has led to a lot of stomach aches for Lucia & Elena, as the girls need boundaries. Henrique has to learn to say no, which is hard, but it’s important. He does love that they want to spoil his girls just as much but he supposes they have to be the adults at the end of the day.

On the fence about it.
Having access to luxuries like pastries and cakes are a privilege of the noble class, but there is something to be said about overindulgence. All in all, Gerhard turns a blind eye to it. If he doesn’t see his son being spoiled by them, then Angelico is not being spoil. He has the same feelings about his own sweet tooth habit; if not one saw him eat the tarts, then it never happened.

All things in moderation.
Hoping to be the best parent in the history of parents, he appreciates that sweet treats are good but should be considered a treat. Dali wants his children to have proper nutrition and meals. Will ask demand that they show him how to bake so he can do it for his sons. And although he succeeds in learning the basics, they are never as good as theirs. So, he just lets them do it.

Les jours d'été sont doucereux, idéaux pour flâner naïvement le temps d'un après-midi à sombrer dans l'oisiveté. Puis, il y a la sorgue qui tombe, ne laisse qu'un empire des lueurs artificielles devenues floues sous une brume dominante, sertie d'une âcre fragrance d'iode.
Alors les ombres sortent, sournoises chimères aux babines avides dégueulant de crocs affutés qui entament leur ballet nocturne. Les masques tombent jusqu'à l'aube naissante et plus rien ne paraît alors rassurant. Les bêtes grouillent, se dévoilent, se croisent à l’abri des mires aveugles d’êtres humains pour qui elles ne sont que des histoires fantaisistes que l'on conte aux bambins. Les griffes se ferment sur les chairs et les disparitions vont bon train. Enfin jusqu'à-ce que les projectiles filent, tentant de protéger les pauvres égaré.es de leurs funestes étreintes. Parce qu'il y a toujours eu les proies, toujours eu les traqueurs en un jeu sempiternel. Si bien qu'on ne sait plus vraiment qui sont les prédateurs et qui sont les proies.
Peut-être que dans tout ça votre charmante voisine vous offrant d'alléchantes pâtisseries n'est autre qu'une chasseuse de monstres aguerrie une fois le crépuscule tombé, que votre collègue de bureau se révèle être un bestiau assassin faisant bonne figure afin de mieux se fondre dans la masse, que cet aimable facteur fait partie d'un organisme secret mettant à mal l'humanité lorsqu'il ne livre pas le courrier.

Encore un énième univers porté sur les bestioles et pourtant, Crimson Veil vous proposera quelque chose en plus pour pimenter le jeu. Le forum possèdera un concept d’identités secrètes, où seul le staff connaîtra la véritable espèce ou rôle au sein des organisations de chaque personnage. Le but sera évidemment de jouer le jeu, d’en dévoiler le moins possible, laisser des indices s’échapper de temps à autre et dissimuler les crasses sous quelques balises hide bien placées. Les membres d’une même organisation ou d’une même espèce, pourront se reconnaître entre eux bien entendu, à comploter paisiblement à l’abri des regards dans des zones secrètes. Bien sûr, le forum demande pas mal d’aménagements pratiques afin que les mystères soient viables au maximum, les réponses quant à l’organisation des choses arriveront en temps voulu.
Et ça ne risque pas de vriller city tout ça ? Et bien mon petit Philibert, le jeu sera agrémenté de plusieurs espèces non jouables sous forme de PNJ capables de semer le trouble et donner du rebondissement entre les diverses intrigues. Même les créatures les plus hostiles pourront se faire croquer par plus gros qu’elles.
Le nom de Scarborough, petite ville côtière du Yorkshire, en Angleterre, vous est peut-être familier. En effet, une partie de l’univers reprendra le lore et quelques petites choses à son forum grand frère, Noctivagus, ouvert en septembre 2020 et qui a fermé ses portes en 2023. De nombreuses choses seront cependant intégralement revues et adaptées (nombre et types de créatures, gangs, système de jeu, codage et design, etc.). Reprendre cette base et réhabiliter ce forum sous une toute nouvelle forme permettra également de gagner en temps et en énergie durant la construction (big brain mouve). À bientôt donc pour une toute nouvelle aventure.

"bee," i let a moan slip as the blackberry frosting melts on my tongue, "you're a fuckin' bakin' wiz."
i watch as her ears start to burn and a smirk covers my face, "tell me about it, i swear the only reason we have costumers is because of her baking and her ass." martha chuckles.
"martha!" y/n scolds the 68 year old lady, martha rolls her eyes as to say, you know i'm right.
"you got men comin' in here lookin' at your ass, bee?" i tease as she sits next to me.
"harry!" she whines digging her head into my shoulder, i wrap an arm around her waist and tug her closer to me.
looking around the cute bakery, a pastel pink covers the walls and little white cloud fish are painted on the walls. little frogs are decorated at the bottom along with flowers, trees and other animals likely elephants and loins.
"who the fuck was on shrooms while thinkin' of the design?" i ask causing y/n's body to vibrate against mine as she shook with laughter.
"when martha first bought the place i swear to god, it had shit stains on the walls," she started and i bursted out laughing, "and well martha, she was like you know what we should do? and i was like what, she was like we should come up with a design and then tear down the walls. so i was like okay and we tried to come up with one sober and it failed it was giving 90's diner. we didn't want that, it's so basic. so martha came up with an idea she was like, what if we do shrooms. and i was like eh why not. and that's how Pleasing Pâtisserie came about."

"y/n! you are a bad girl!" i exclaim teasingly and she gapes at me.
"i am not! 'm a good girl!" she huffs crossing her arms over her chest.
i take a minute to really look at her, her little apron has hearts splattered all over them, her big round glasses cover the apples of her cheeks. her hair's in a messy ponytail with her fly aways running loose. my hand subconsciously comes up to move a curl that's dangling in front of her forehead. a loud sound of an alarm goes off and y/n's eyes bulge, and she's quick on her feet.
"my scones are gonna burn!" she yelps making her way to the back.
"baby i gotta go." i hum as i stand, she quickly pokes her head out the walk way to the oven and frowns at me.
"cant stay a lil' longer?" she says with puppy dog eyes.
don't do that
i think to my self and frown shaking my head, "gotta appointment in 20 minutes bee."
"cancel?" she suggest and i let out a chuckle before shaking my head.
"y'know i cant." i say shrugging on my jacket and her frown deepens.
she makes her way over with a cute little pout a puppy dog eyes, she wraps her arms around my waist and nuzzles her head into my chest.
"don't want you to leave." she huffs hugging me tighter.
"christ pet, squeeze me any tighter ya gonna pop me." i choke out.
"can i come over tonight?"she ask with a giddy smile and i nod.
"yea baby, i'll come get you yeah?" i ask and she nods with a wide smile, then moving behind the counter again.
"kiss?" she muses and i smirk making my way over before being stopped by martha.
"employees only!" martha snaps and flicks my forehead.
"martha let him give me a kiss!" y/n scolded the lady and she shook her head before letting me through.
i grab ahold of her face before pulling her lips towards mine and slowly moving our lips together. i let myself to let go and bite her lip softly causing her to whimper and pull away.
"your a bad boy mr. styles." she says groggily smiling up at me with plump lips.
"not too much on my name baby." i tease with a smirk and she rolls her eyes, "be ready by 5." i say tapping the plump of her ass and she scolds me.
i walk out into the store area before waving at martha, "take care of ma girl martha! and don't do drugs."
"oh c'mon son, 'm no pussy. i got a blunt that's ready to be lit out back." martha teased winking at me.
the door jingles as i chuckle and i make my face go stern looking ahead. y/n runs out from the back and smiles at the woman and child, "welcome to pleasing pâtisserie, what can i get you today?"

The Orlesian sun was hot, but not the sort that left Cassandra feeling as if she were laid upon a fire — it made her feel relaxed and loose-limbed, even within her gambeson. At the Inquisitor’s request, they had left their armour and weapons with the Inquisition agents within the city. Today, Bryn had stated, was a day for them and them alone. 
The Val Royeaux market bustled. Wide skirts jockeyed for room, heels clacked upon the cobblestones, and the feathers upon hats bobbed and waved at eye-level for many in their party. Bryn alone seemed immune to the reach of these ornaments. They were a foot taller than most in the crowd, and moved easily enough by virtue of their size and status. Cassandra and Solas followed close in their wake, taking advantage of the space. Cole, Cassandra supposed, remained nearby but out of sight. 
Among the many battling scents of perfumes, leatherwork, sun-heated fruit, and flowers came a familiar fragrance — Cassandra turned on her heel, searching for it. She reached out without thinking and caught at Solas’s sleeve. 
“Oh,” she gasped. “Do you smell that?”
The apostate looked at her with an incredulous expression. “Yes, Seeker, whatever it is I assure you I am being assailed by it.”
She scoffed. “It is sweet. It reminds me of a treat I have not had in years. Inquisitor?”
Bryn glanced over at them, their eyes calm and placid and their brows raised in a silent question. They cocked their horned head to the side. 
“Do you see a pâtisserie?”
Recognition dawned, and they suddenly cast their gaze over Cassandra and Solas’s heads. They did not need to stand on tiptoes in order to see, but they rose upon them almost out of habit. Their lips parted as they searched — they suddenly pointed and said, in their gentle voice, “Over there, by the modiste.”
Excitement surged within Cassandra at that, along with another waft of the familiar, mouth-watering scent of baked goods. Bryn’s face warmed when they looked back down at her. 
“Go on ahead without me,” they said. “I want to see what’s in this shop at the end. Meet at the center of the square in a half hour?”
Cassandra glanced at Solas, who looked cautiously interested now. Cole’s hat bobbed near his ear as the spirit passed by and drew close to Bryn’s side. 
“The baker is proud of them today,” Cole said simply, his voice nearly swallowed up by the noise of the crowd. “La crème est absolument parfaite en tous points. You should try the cannelé.” 
They listened — Cole remained at Bryn’s side as the latter made their way towards the stalls, while Cassandra and Solas entered the shadowed interior of the bakery. They blinked away the brightness of the sun and basked in the new warmth, that of ovens and fresh pastry and bread rather than hot sun. Waft after waft of that delicious, sweet scent of baked flour and sugar and butter filled Cassandra’s nose and throat, and she found herself swallowing down her desire for such Orlesian treats. 
The patisserie was crowded, enough so that Solas had to turn to keep his broad shoulders from grazing against their fellow customers as they approached the glass cases near the back of the shop. They were surrounded by the rolling sounds of conversations held in Orlesian, with the odd bit of Antivan and Trade mixed in at the fringes — when another customer entered the shop behind them, Cassandra heard a new swell of the Chant sung from the abbey at the center of the city before the door swung back shut. 
A nudge — Solas’s elbow was sharp, but he prodded her gently with it. She would not have felt it if she were still armoured. “What are these?”
She followed his pointed finger with a surprised gaze. “Do you not recognise any of them?”
“They are…” he seemed to search for the word. He raised a finger to his chin and frowned. 
Cassandra gazed up at him with a slight smile, feeling fondness wash through her that was as warm and sweet as the smell of burnt sugar. “Think of them as… frilly cakes, I suppose.”
The attendant behind the case shot her a dirty look, but she paid him no mind. 
“Pick one,” she urged. “My treat.”
Solas glanced down at her — a mere flick of pale eyes beneath long lashes, shadowed by the dim light in this bakery. His mouth curved in a surprised, private smile behind the crook of his finger as he contemplated. 
“Which did Cole say we should try?” he finally asked. 
Cassandra nodded. “Deux cannelés s'il vous plait, mon ser.”
They left the bakery with their paper-wrapped cannelés in hand, as Cassandra wished for Solas to try his out of sight of the Orlesian baker who might be insulted if he enjoyed them in the wrong way. They tucked away against a fountain, taking their seats on the mortared edge, knee to knee. Cassandra eagerly unwrapped hers and took a large, unceremonious bite. 
“Maker,” she groaned happily. She almost snorted custard out of her nose at the sight of Solas regarding his, and hurriedly swallowed. “Try it!”
He looked at her with trusting eyes as he lifted the flute-shaped cake to his mouth — he held his spare hand beneath it to catch crumbs, and looked for all the world like a man out of his element. She tried to remember if she’d seen him enjoy eating anything before. She could hear the caramelised exterior crunch as he bit it. 
Solas’s eyebrows flew up his forehead as he took in that first bite, and his eyes shone. Cassandra laughed outright — not to mock him, but to delight in his reaction. 
“You look as if you have never tasted anything sweet before!” she chuckled. She took another bite, then spoke irreverently around it. “These are my favourite. Cole’s advice was indeed good.”
For once, Solas was too occupied to retort with anything scathing. He finished the cannelé slowly, as if savouring each moment of it. Only then did he clear his throat and look up at her, a multitude of barely-discernible expressions crossing his angled face. 
“Thank you,” he finally said. He wiped his long, pale fingers clean with the paper the cannelés came folded in, and seemed almost mournful that they were gone. “I liked that very much.”
Cassandra chuckled, then rose and extended her hand. “You are welcome. Now come, let us find the Inquisitor.”
Solas smiled sincerely then, and accepted her helping hand to his feet.

Alors, je peux comprende un peu, je suis mieux lire, mais ma prononciation, c'est MAL. J'etudie la langue du français pour quatre ans dans l'ecole, mais j'etais dans les course (I forgot how to spell class) pendant (that's during?? I think) 2020 et la pandemic(100% spelled that wrong) et oublie plus l'infinitifs.
Je voyagais a la Paris en l'éte. Ma mere et moi allais (this is something I'm REALLY bad at. The conjugations, especially past tense aller and avoir mess me up and its frustrated me to the point of tears b4) a la pâtisserie (i did look up pastry shop because i know the word and somehow i forgot it. This paragraph is making me so upset fr) et quand je parlais, (im saying this part in english because my brain hurts) when i spoke to the lady at the counter i had the worst accent id ever done in my life. I literally think back on it and want to cry because it was so bad. I was ordering macarons and the way she looked at me???? Literal tears rn thinking about it im so sorry french people for butchering ur language.

Scenes from my Italian restaurant (s)

Here’s the introduction of a song that talks about catching up. Here’s a song that caught up with me tonight. Here’s a song that catches up with me every now and then.
The theme is exactly that: catching up. For quite a while now, the theme of my life has been catching up with myself and people. Going back to my roots, coming back and checking in has been a recurring theme for me these days, just like my diving-ins and coming-outs during the free summer days that I long for.
Oh, my Italian restaurants.
The first one that I remember distinctly was Gezi Istanbul in Gokturk, not only an Italian restaurant but also a pâtisserie, with my memories dating back to 2008 or so. Back when where I was living was an actual suburb(1) with horses and forests right around the corner, the center of the suburb was very very limited, and there was a tiny Italian restaurant, the second of a chain(2). 
That restaurant hosted so many memories: birthday of a friend, learning that there’s a cocktail called margarita different from the pizza Margherita that I fell in love with, but most of all, so many family events were celebrated there.

The second that I deliberately choose to remember fondly is the one in Flanders, Dolce e Salato. Even thinking about that restaurant hyper-activates my lacrymal glands. 
This restaurant means a great deal to me, for it was one of my refuges when I was about to go coo-coo from not having enough human interaction or change of environment, in plain covid period, especially when they reopened the bars around mid-May and my exams were until June.
This restaurant was there when I learned about Belgium, when I wanted to practice my crippled Italian, when I just really was tired of cooking, or just wanted a coffee and/or someone to chat with.
It’s still there. The fact that it’s still there gives me incredible strength, especially in these times where all of my fortresses are collapsing or have already collapsed.
The third one, I had known its existence since quite some time but hadn’t experienced a meal there; until a few days ago. It’s not perfect, none of these restaurants are/were. But sometimes, these days, it feels more home than my own apartment. I get to chat with people, I get to try new food, I get to practice my Italian (more than I got to do so in Ixelles (surprisingly(?)).
One little touch made it more home. The frogs. The frogs that I can hear now that they are back. That sound is one of the official sound of late spring and summer of my childhood and early adolescence. I almost felt home again. I almost felt like everything was fine.
And most things are going to be fine. Hope shall overcome.
I’ll meet you anytime we both want, in our Italian restaurant.
(1) My parents haven’t moved (yet). It’s still the same house, but everything has changed. I deliberately choose to not get into that, to choose to put the curse You-Know-Who cast on my childhood and adolescence aside.
(2)A rather upper-middle class one at that. It was tiny back then, now I don't really know what's become of it.

Quelle recette pour maigrir ? Guide étape par étape
Allez, c’est décidé, tu veux perdre du poids tout en mangeant de manière savoureuse ? Bonne nouvelle, tu n’es pas obligé de te priver de plaisir pour mincir ! Aujourd'hui, je te propose une recette minceur simple et délicieuse, idéale pour une perte de poids tout en douceur : Papillote de saumon et légumes croquants. Et en bonus, je te donnerai quelques astuces minceur pour t’aider à maigrir sans te frustrer. Prêt(e) ? On y va !
Ingrédients pour la papillote de saumon (pour 2 personnes)
2 pavés de saumon
1 courgette
1 carotte
1 poivron rouge
1/2 oignon
1 filet d’huile d’olive (facultatif, mais pour la saveur c'est top !)
1 citron
Un peu de persil frais
Sel, poivre et épices (je te recommande le cumin ou le curry pour un twist exotique !)
Étapes de préparation :
Préchauffe ton four à 180°C (th.6). C’est l’étape cruciale pour une cuisson légère et homogène.
Découpe les légumes (courgette, carotte, poivron) en fines rondelles ou en lamelles. Ça permettra aux légumes de cuire rapidement tout en gardant du croquant. Perso, j’adore quand les légumes restent un peu fermes, c’est meilleur pour la satiété et ça conserve les vitamines !
Sur une grande feuille de papier sulfurisé (ou d’aluminium si tu n'as que ça), dépose les pavés de saumon. Ajoute les légumes autour.
Presse un peu de jus de citron sur le saumon et les légumes. Le citron aide à détoxifier le corps, parfait pour une recette minceur !
Assaisonne avec du sel, du poivre, et un peu d'herbes (persil, thym, basilic). Et pourquoi pas une touche de curry ou de cumin pour relever le tout ?
Ferme bien les papillotes en pliant les bords pour éviter que la vapeur ne s’échappe.
Enfourne pour 20 minutes. Grâce à cette cuisson à l’étouffée, tu conserves les nutriments des aliments tout en limitant les matières grasses.
Et voilà, tu as un plat léger, diététique, et délicieux !
Pourquoi cette recette est parfaite pour maigrir ?
Tout d'abord, le saumon est une excellente source de protéines et d'oméga-3, ce qui t’aidera à maintenir ta masse musculaire pendant la perte de poids. De plus, les légumes comme la courgette, le poivron et la carotte sont riches en fibres, parfaits pour la satiété et faibles en calories. Bref, un vrai combo gagnant pour perdre quelques kilos tout en te régalant.
Méthodes de cuisson alternative
Si tu n’es pas fan de la cuisson au four, pas de panique, je te donne deux alternatives :
Cuisson à la vapeur : Cette méthode permet de garder encore plus de nutriments ! Place ton saumon et les légumes dans un panier vapeur pendant 15 à 20 minutes. C’est idéal si tu veux vraiment minimiser l'ajout de gras.
Poêlée rapide : Pour les plus pressé(e)s, fais revenir les légumes à la poêle avec une cuillère à soupe d’huile d’olive et saisis le saumon quelques minutes de chaque côté. Ça prend 10 minutes chrono et c’est tout aussi délicieux.
Astuces bonus pour booster ta perte de poids
Bois beaucoup d'eau : Cela peut sembler basique, mais boire de l'eau, surtout avant les repas, aide à brûler les calories et à améliorer ta digestion.
Mange des fibres : Les légumes comme le chou, les courgettes et le céleri sont riches en fibres. Ils augmentent la sensation de satiété et sont peu caloriques. Parfait pour éviter les fringales !
Mise sur les protéines : Le poulet, le cabillaud, les crevettes ou encore le tofu sont parfaits pour des recettes savoureuses et faibles en gras. En plus, les protéines sont un super coupe-faim naturel.

Un roman très doux, tendre. Cette histoire vous fera passer un bon moment, sans prise de tête. Dans ce deuxième roman, S. Cassar nous entraîne dans une romance sportive et de pâtisserie avec une grande touche de sensualité et une bonne dose de suspense/action. Un roman parfait pour cet été!
