Dating Owen Joyner Would Include...
Tumblr media
JATP masterlist
A/n: ask and you shall recieve ! Owen content is here! Albeit its not a full fledged fic, but headcanon lists are fun and I enjoy doing them. Okay enjoy and also I wanna work on some hockey!charlie content too.
➢ This man is a confirmed anxious wreck so the first time he asked you out, he was a disaster
➢ Starts off smooth talking but when you laugh in his face at how out of character he’s acting he’s able to relax and be himself
➢ You liked Owen for his nervous goofy witty self and you’re glad he had dropped the act
➢ Your first date has to be something super romantic but a little creative and unconventional
➢ I fully believe Owen is a picnic under the stars kind of guy
➢ If you’re temperature sensitive he’d take the Tesla and y’all could watch through the sunroof and maybe a movie on the little screen
➢ If you’re not, he’d for sure take the truck and fill the bed of it with pillows and blankets and such
➢ Either way he’d want you to be as comfortable as possible
➢ Not sure what it is about him but I get the vibe he can’t cook
➢ So take out for the win on this one
➢ He’d absolutely ask you what you’d want to name your kids because Owen seems like a very forward guy in the sweetest but dorkiest way possible
➢ You two spend the entire night having deep conversation
➢ Owen doesn’t ramp into talking about kids names
➢ Talking about having kids IS the ramping into things
➢ It’s not very existential but you definitely spend an hour or two talking about your perspectives on life and why you’re here
➢ He def gives me deep conversation vibes
➢ So the relationship is off to a great start for sure
➢ He wouldn’t tell you what to wear or how to dress ever
➢ He’d compliment you non-stop
➢ But he’d love little comments you’d make in passing about certain outfits he wears or how he styles his hair
➢ Anything you say that you like about his style or appearance he’d absolutely remember all of them
➢ And he’d absolutely start dressing and styling his look like that more often
➢ Your arguments are the dumbest arguments on the planet
➢ But you’re both so invested in them
➢ “Water is/isn’t wet” kind of dumb
➢ In other words, passion is not something your relationship lacks
➢ Owen can be clueless sometimes but he’s not beyond help
➢ Like he has oblivious moments
➢ But the gestures that he does make?
➢ So sweet you could cry
➢ I’m talking 100 roses for valentines sweet
➢ Or candlelit dinner where he learned to cook your favorite food
➢ Or putting on his actor/filmmaker hat and analyzing your favorite movie just so he can understand you better
➢ Of course, every relationship has its downsides
➢ For you and Owen, it’s Charlie
➢ Not that Charlie doesn’t respect boundaries and when you two need time alone
➢ It’s that in the time he does spend with y’all, you’re basically babysitting
➢ Being Owen’s other half means being Charlie’s whole impulse control
➢ “Charlie, we can’t just have ice cream for dinner”
➢ “Charlie, you can’t just leave a load of laundry to sit overnight before drying it”
➢ Bear in mind though, sometimes you’re the whole impulse control to Owen being Charlie’s other half of a whole idiot
➢ Charlie has some dumb ideas, we know this
➢ “Owen, I dare you to jump into that fountain”
➢ “I’ll do it for five bucks”
➢ “Stop it both of you!”
➢ Owen is so affectionate with his pets I’m sure he would be with his s/o as well
➢ Cuddles cuddles cuddles
➢ Hugs from behind
➢ Lazy mornings in bed
➢ Lazy days in general where you two just stay in bed all day
➢ He is the BEST karaoke partner
➢ He’d know the words to any and every song you’d choose
➢ All he’d ask is for you to throw in a little high school musical into the mix
➢ There’s not a lot of negative energy in the household once you two move in together
➢ But there is some stress due to adjusting to an actor’s schedule in your own life
➢ No matter what, you two are there for one another, crazy schedules and all
***

Behind the Love | Owen Joyner x Reader
A/N: Hey y'all! So I’ve been writing and fulfilling requests like crazy and I'm so excited to post them. Therefore I will be posting one fic everyday this week! RIP to my taglist’s notifications, but yeah I’m super excited about it! I hope you enjoy!
Word count: 2k
Warnings: swearing, typos

When Kenny said that he was okay with the cast posting BTS content of season 2, everyone went crazy. Charlie was compiling a ton of incriminating videos consisting of pranks on different people. Paul and his crew were doing their typical BTS video clips, but Tori was also doing some of her own clips too. Madi always roped someone into her little instagram lives. She especially tried to feature you as you were a new member to the cast. Kenny allowed it as long as you didn’t reveal too much about your character.
On top of keeping your character a secret, you also didn’t reveal how well you clicked with Owen because then it would lead to the show’s very observant fans figuring out that you two were actually dating. And since you’re new to the scene, you wanted to keep your relationship under wraps until you were more comfortable. Owen completely agreed with you, and the rest of the cast understood and shared your sentiment. That didn’t stop all the great content of you two though.
“And why are you pouting?”
Owen had one of Paul’s camera guys following behind him as he walked up to you. He was in between takes and saw you standing off to the side with a cute little frown and your arms crossed. He tugs on one of your hoodie strings, acknowledging that you’ve stolen yet another one of his hoodies that he’s tried to hide from you.
“I don’t wanna be here.” The camera guy laughs at your brutal honesty while Owen’s eyes widen, not expecting that answer at all.
“Why?” He searches your face for a joke, but sees none.
“Because you’re filming your scene with Booboo today.”
“Okay? And?”
“And you get to kiss him and I’ve literally had a crush on him ever since Twilight and now you get to live out my dream while I’m just standing here. Watching. And not kissing him.” The camera catches you glaring up at the lucky blond. He purses his lips to stop from laughing at your clear dissatisfaction.
“That’s fair,” is all Owen can offer you and you retaliate with a whack to his chest. Not able to resist how adorable you look like while you grumble, he leans down and places a kiss on your cheek, “I’m sorry.”
“Those are not the lips I wanted to kiss me.”
The camera catches Owen’s huge eye roll and your mischievous smirk.
-
“Let’s see if we can find...oh it’s Owen and Y/N!” Charlie announces as he steps into one of the empty rooms on set.
You and Owen were sleeping on the couch, laying down in opposite directions. As you wake up to Charlie’s voice, you try to remember how you ended up with Owen’s feet in front of your face, but can’t remember anything before knocking out. Regardless, you wipe your eyes clear of sleep with the sleeves of Owen’s hoodie and wave to Charlie.
“I’m on instagram live,” he whispers loudly, gesturing with his phone that was pointed at you. You wave to the camera from your place behind Owen’s sleeping form, almost hitting his large feet.
You light up with an idea and signal to Charlie to keep the camera on the couch. When he gives you a thumbs up, you keep an eye on Owen’s peaceful face and start to lightly tickle his feet. The blonde has told you multiple times that he’s extremely ticklish and you definitely take advantage of it whenever you can...like now. He doesn’t stir until you full-on attack his feet.
“Ahhhh!” Owen awakes with a startle and rolls off the couch with a thud. “Y/N!”
Both you and Charlie are cackling while the poor boy rubs his hip, groaning. The fans are going crazy, especially when you blow Owen a kiss with a victorious laugh.
-
The purpose of the video that Paul was currently filming was to capture the BTS of one of season 2’s Julie and the Phantoms performance. So far, the camera has great clips of the boys and Madi rocking out with their biggest crowd yet. Madi’s outfit catches everyone’s eyes just like Charlie’s massive arms are. Jeremy impresses everyone with his skilled bass playing while Owen charms everyone with his smile. At the moment, the camera is trained on the current take which is just close ups of Charlie during the performance.
The other three musicians are off to the side and happily taking a small break from filming. You’re sandwiched between Madi and Owen, conversing with them and sharing some snacks you stole from catering.
When Kenny calls action, the camera focuses on Charlie’s performance, but you can just see Owen throw his arms around you as you watch the scene unfold. As the video continues, you reach up and clean off the crumbs of the corner of his mouth. He sends you a grateful smile and holds you closer.
-
“Hey y’all, I got a day off from filming and I thought I’d go on live.”
Owen clumsily props his phone on his kitchen counter, watching the viewer count rapidly increase with every second. He rests his chin on the counter and starts reading through the comments.
“I never learn. I literally go on live but never know what to do. Wait, let’s so who’s on right now…” Owen starts scrolling through the comments, laughing at some of them and reading some aloud.
“Oh! Y/N is on! Let me get her on…” it takes a second before your face appears on the bottom of the screen, “hey!”
“Hey, Owen! What’s up?” The comments start coming in faster as fans start to freak out when you appear with your usual charm.
“Oh just trying to keep the people entertained,” he answers, biting at his nails,  “what about you? Aren’t you filming right now?”
“No, I’m on break. I think I got a few minutes before they call me back.”
“Got it,” Owen can’t help but feel lighter now that he sees your face. He doesn’t want to admit it out loud, but he starts to miss you quickly when you’re not around. So much so that just seeing you for a few minutes makes his heart stutter and his eyes light up.
“Anyways, I cannot believe I’m on live with the Owen Joyner! I’m so lucky!” You say with a fake gasp. Owen drops his hand from his mouth with a scoff. You bit your lip at your lame joke, but watch as Owen shakes his hair out. The camera doesn’t emphasize just how soft his blonde hair looks and you wish you could be there to feel it. While Owen fixes his hair, you start scrolling through the fast comments. You see an unfamiliar word be mentioned often until you realize what it is.
“Oh my god, Owen, did you know that we have a ship name?” Owen finally places a hat on his head and sees what you’re talking about. When he finds the name, he unashamedly decides that he likes how it sounds.
“That’s amazing.”
“Wait, did you see what I sent you earlier by the way?”
“Yeah, the video edit of the two of us?” You nod, mirroring his smile. “It was so good! How are people so good at making those videos?”
“I know right,” you agree, sincerity in your voice. You watch the comments turn into a slew of capitalized letters and yelling. Guilt is what you should be feeling for how much you tease the fans about your public friendship with Owen, but you and Owen just loved to rile them up.
“Oh my god same y’all. I ship us too,” the camera picks up your smirk which Owen matches. He loves your sly yet blunt responses in regards to your mysterious relationship. He liked playing along too.
“But do you ship us more than Willex, Y/N?” Owen asks in a knowing tone.
“Hell no, what the fuck. That’s slander.”
“Okay, just making sure.” Owen gives an affirmative nod as you scold him for even implying anything different. The comments are coming in even faster now.
“@OPJallday says ‘omg just tell him you love him already.’ Y’ALL YOU THINK I HAVEN’T TRIED?” Owen starts laughing at your incredulous tone. You’re proud that you made him clap with his laughter.
“The amount of times I’ve confessed my unwavering love for Owen only for him to ignore me is embarrassing. Embarrassing!” You emphasize, throwing your hands over your face in fake shame. Owen throws his hands up with a shake of his head. He can’t believe that you’re truly his, with your stupid jokes and cute snorts and pretty eyelashes that flutter with every breathless laugh.
“Please stop Y/N.”
“It’s true! How could you leave me hanging like this - it’s so insulting.”
“Don’t you have to film?” Owen prompts, genuinely realizing how much time has passed and totally not wanting to change topics.
“Yeah, I do. I’ll see you later. Love you, butthead” you say nonchalantly, “and love y’all too!”
“Love you too, you turd,” Owen responds with a hidden smile. You both wave to the camera and then it’s just Owen on the screen.
“Finally! Guys, I don’t know why you ship us together. She’s literally so annoying.”
-
“And what do we have here?”
Tori appears all wrapped up in a jacket and a camera on hand.
“It’s freezing!” you say, although you sound muffled. You’re in a cute short-sleeved blouse and a skirt for the scene you’re currently filming. There was no time to grab a blanket or jacket from your trailer and so you’re vulnerable to the set’s ruthless air conditioning. Owen, always attentive to you even when you don’t know it, comes over and gives you the sweater he was wearing before he changed into his outfit.
“You sure?” You ask. He understands that he’s never going to get it back and gives a reassuring nod. Watching you put on his hoodie was a joy and heartwarming. Tori thought as much too when she threw Owen a soft look from behind the camera.
You throw one sweater paw up and wave to the camera. Owen waves hi as well from behind your covered figure. Tori stops the video just after Owen lovingly wraps his arms around you. He looks down at you with a heart eyes and you match it, both of you none the wiser about the camera.
-
This is one of the rare times where Savannah will post a video of the cast outside of the set, but she figures that this occasion would be nice to film.
Everyone is at Owen and Charlie’s apartment for the weekend. It’s one of those rare weekends that everyone wanted to just relax and laze around. Seeing as it was a pretty rigorous filming schedule during the week, the chill night was very much needed.
“Hey y’all! We’re at the boys’ place watching a movie…” Savannah pans around and you can see that the crew is watching a romantic-comedy while relaxing around the living room.
“And some people are enjoying this movie more than we are...”
The camera first zooms in on Jeremy and Carolynn cuddling on the couch. You hear Madi coo behind the camera as the couple throw funny faces at the pair on the floor. Then it pans to Charlie who’s curled up under a blanket sleeping, which is unusual for the avid movie watcher.
The video continues to capture you and Owen on the loveseat. In the dark, you can’t tell where you start and Owen ends because you’re so wrapped around each other. Owen is resting his cheek against the top of your head, mindlessly running his hands through your hair as you’re both so engrossed in the movie in front of you. The camera pans to Savannah and Madi going overboard on cuddling and giggling, playfully mocking the affectionate couples. If the fans look to the right of the video, they can barely make out you and Owen sharing a sweet kiss.
Ever since Savannah’s video was posted, you’ve been more open about your relationship with Owen. You still tease and taunt the fans, but it was nice that they were finally in on it too (“The fans are demanding that you tell me you love me, Owen.” - “I’ve literally said I love you like 5 times in this live, Y/N.” - “Do y’all see what I have to deal with?” - “Y/N.”).

A/N: I realize that my writing style for relationships is casual/playful romance and I’m not mad about it. I hope you all are ready for more fics coming your way!

deep breath, do your job | owen joyner
requested; yes! - Could you do a Owen x reader where the reader is Owens personal assistant while filming JATP and while they are filming the reader starts catching feelings for Owen but Owen is in a relationship. Owen and his girlfriend breakup and the reader comes over to comfort Owen and Owen confesses that the reason him and his girlfriend broke up was because of the reader.
word count; 6.4K ... yeah kinda got away from me there. longest fic i’ve ever written
warnings; language, implied sexual content but no actual sex or description thereof
a/n; lol, so i just wrote from 1AM - 4AM because i’m procrastinating my child dev. project thats due today that’s worth a quarter of my grade. i really didn’t mean for this to be so long so it’s probably not this good and the ending is a lil’ rough, but oh well. hope whoever requested this likes it. i kinda do even though it’s long and only slightly proofread.
Tumblr media
“Owen Patrick Joyner! Get your ass into hair and makeup before - oh, um, okay oops. Sorry ‘bout that. Should have knocked. I’ll just - yep, i’ll just go.”
You thought he’d be sleeping. It’s nap time for him anyway, so he should’ve been sleeping. Instead, your technically boss and definite crush, was on his trailer couch with a girl you’ve never seen before. Kissing her. Without a shirt. Yeah, you definitely need to get out of there.
You’re quick to close his door and begin to walk back to the hair and makeup trailer to tell them Owen will be a minute.
“Y/N! Hey! Wait up! It’s um, it’s not, well it is, but -” He grabs your arm, causing you to turn around and face him, which, big mistake. Abort. Abort. Turn around. His post make out face is something you did not want to see. Liar.
“It’s fine Owen. What you do in your free time is not my, well, actually it is since i’m your PA, I just mean who - WHAT, what you do in your personal time, in your trailer, is not my concern. Just, you’re needed in hair and makeup like, an hour ago. So, yeah, just, get there.” You stumble over half your words and watch his face fall as you near the end of your spiel. When he lets go of your arm you’re quick to turn around and leave him alone, walking right past hair and makeup and to set where you can curl up in your chair and eat your weight in brownies, if Madi hasn’t taken them all that is. You hope he goes to get his hair done. You know you should walk with him there because if you’re not practically dragging him to where he needs to go he never gets there on time, as just witnessed. But it’s usually because he’s goofing off with Charlie, not sucking face with a random girl.
You don’t notice the brownie in your hand has crumbled until a whistle comes from behind you. You turn around a little too quickly, sending the brownie bits flying to the floor.
“Shit.” You kneel down to begin picking it up, another hand coming into help. Charlie, based on the rings adorning the fingers.
“Is Owen’s keeper okay?” You huff a laugh at the name the cast gave you a week into filming. You’re the only one who has managed to keep Owen in line since filming started, the only reason he’s ever on time for anything or actually has real food in the apartment or has his drumsticks when needed, etc. etc.
The boys didn’t want PA’s when Kenny proposed it during bootcamp, they were young adults, they didn't want to boss someone around, it felt wrong. But having more experience than the boys, Kenny vetoed how they felt and told them PA’s would help tremendously, especially on a project like this. That’s where you came in. You were trying to get into the directing and producing scene in Hollywood, you’re dream to be as good a director as Steven Spielberg or, well, Kenny Ortega. But you knew you had to start small, so you applied for a PA job on an upcoming Netflix show, getting hired within the week. Now here you are, a nineteen year old being in charge of another nineteen year old who acts more like he’s five.
In the beginning, it was purely professional. You were nothing more than his PA who got him from place A to place B in a timely fashion. But then he started to rope you into pranks with the rest of the band. He started inviting you to movie nights, and adventures to the grocery store, and ice skating with Charlie and Madi, and somewhere between helping him keep his life in order and watching him fall on his ass at the ice rink, you fell for the blonde. You know it’s a mistake, falling for him. You work for him. He’s your friend. That’s all he sees you as, but you couldn’t help it. But you’re good at compartmentalizing, so you took all the inappropriate feelings, shoved them in a box, locked the box, and hid it deep in your unconscious. You were doing well with ignoring the box, until you walked in on Owen kissing someone that wasn’t you.
“I’m fine Charlie, just, stressed. Owen was an hour late to hair and makeup so I kinda feel like a shit PA right now.” Charlie chuckles and hugs you as you both stand up.
“Please Y/N, you’re the best PA. If it weren’t for you, Owen would never know where anything is, including his head.” You laugh into his shoulder, reveling in the hug for a few more seconds. When you part, you see a flash of blonde enter the set and sigh in relief. He made it. He’s ready. You’re not fired today.
Just incredibly confused and upset.
But not fired.
“You better go, I know you’re in this scene with Owen.” Charlie nods and squeezes your shoulder once before running after Owen onto the set that holds Julie’s shed. Taking a deep breath, you try to push whatever the hell you saw ten minutes ago into your box, and get ready for the day ahead.
Tumblr media
Four hours, six brownies, and two cookies later, Owen is officially wrapped for the day, meaning you can go home and continue to eat your feelings in ice cream. You’re quick to grab your binder full of Owen’s schedules to drop tomorrow’s off at his trailer before he sees you. You’re not really in the mood to talk to him about what happened earlier, so you fast walk to his trailer, fully intent on just leaving the paper on his counter where he’ll see it, but a brown haired, green eyed girl throws that plan right out the window.
You’re so stupid. You should’ve known she would still be here. Waiting.
“Oh, um, hi.” She says. She sounds nice. She looks nice. But when you look at her all you can see is her hands in Owen’s hair and his lips on hers.
“Hi.” You don’t know how, but you managed to put on a smile and put a little pep into your voice. “I’m Ashley. I’m waiting for Owen. Is he done?” You nod, not trusting your voice as you stand awkwardly in the doorway, one foot on the step the other in the trailer, hand outstretched ready to place the schedule on the table.
“He just wrapped for the day. Should be here in a few.” The girl - Ashley - nods.
“You’re Y/N, right? His personal assistant?” How does she know that. She giggles, “He talks about you all the time. Says the only reason he’s not fired or dead in a ditch is because of you.” OH, you said that aloud. Coolcoolcoolcoolcoolcoolcoolcoolcoolcoo-
“Y/N! What are ya doing just standing in the doorway?” Fuck. You put a smile on and turn around. He’s smiling softly at you, still in Alex’s clothes, twirling those damn drumsticks around his fingers.
“Um, just dropping tomorrow’s schedule off. Here. Okay...bye.” You walk down the steps, letting the door shut behind you, fully intent on leaving, but Owen grabs your arm again, just like earlier, causing you to stop and turn to look at him.
“Wait. Can we talk real quick. About...earlier?” No. No absolutely not.
“Um, I really have to go. I have a lot to do tonight for tomorrow.” Owen sighs and lets go of your arm, face contorting into that of a sad puppy.
“Just, one minute Y/N. Please. Let me explain.” Screw him and his perfect freaking face.
“A minute.” His face lights up and grabs your hand, leading you back into his trailer, smiling even wider at seeing Ashley sitting pretty on the couch.
“Y/N, this is Ashley, my girlfriend.” Ashley smiles and waves, standing up to stand by Owen and grab his hand. A rock settles in your chest at the word.
Girlfriend.
Girlfriend.
Girlfriend.
“Nice. I’m Y/N. But you knew that. Just like you also know I’m in charge of getting him to places on time. Which didn't happen today.” Owen’s face flushes at that while Ashley terribly hides a smirk behind her hand.
“Uh, yeah, sorry about that Y/N. She surprised me today. We weren’t supposed to see each other until Thanksgiving but she finished classes early and flew out to surprise me. Kinda got, caught up in -” His face is beat red so you’re quick to cut him off.
“It’s fine. Just, try not to get ‘caught up’ tomorrow, yeah?” It’s harsh and full of hostility, but you want to leave, the word still bouncing around in your head, swirling around the scene you walked into earlier.
Girlfriend.
Kissing.
Girlfriend.
Flushed face.
Girlfriend.
Kissing.
“I have to go. See you tomorrow on set at 5 Am. Got it? Five A M. Don’t make me break into your apartment again. I almost got arrested for that.” Owen is still reeling from your harsh words said a second ago to laugh at the memory. Ashley however, has no qualms about speaking up.
“Don’t worry. I’ll make sure he’s here on time.” She smiles and wraps around his arm like a koala. You hold back a scoff, throwing up a fake smile before turning and leaving.
Girlfriend.
Girlfriend.
Girlfriend.
Tumblr media
It’s almost midnight.
It’s 11:48 PM and someone is knocking on your door.
Who the fuck is pounding on your door at near midnight.
You shuffle to the door wrapped up in your comforter, wiping the sleep out of your eyes. You don’t bother looking through the peephole, too angry at the person behind the door to bother, just wanting to yell at them and get back to bed.
“What the - Charlie?” He looks exhausted, hair ruffled and eyes puffy. He’s in joggers, a random band tee and his denim jacket. You’re pretty sure his shoes are on the wrong feet.
“Can I stay the night?” He doesn’t wait for your response before walking into your apartment, flinging his shoes and jacket off and walking to your room. You sigh, ignoring the way he just threw his stuff around and instead follow him to your room before he takes your side of the bed. You walk in just as he chucks his shirt off and woah. You were so not expecting that. An explanation as to why he’s here at midnight? Yeah. Him taking your side of the bed? Definitely. But not Charlie taking his shirt off and crawling onto the right side of the bed and curling around a pillow. You take a moment to collect yourself and your thoughts before crawling into bed next to him, making sure to drape the comforter over him as well. He hums in content and turns around to face you.
“Sorry for barging in like this. Just, ugh, Owen and that girl are not quiet if you catch my drift.” And it’s like the rock in your heart is now a boulder and it’s crushing your ribcage. You can’t breathe. You can’t think. You’re frozen, staring at Charlie’s half asleep face. “Like I get it, you’ve missed each other. But c’mon bro I’m there too.” He keeps talking. Keeps pushing the boulder until all the ribs crack and puncture your lungs. “There’s somethings in this world I never wanted to hear, and Owen moaning was one of them.” He won’t shut up. Charlie shut up. You’re entire chest is fracturing, breaking at his words and he needs to shut. up.
“I didn’t really know where else to go, but I remembered how comfy your bed was last movie night so, here I am.” His voice is raspy, words slurring as he’s trying to fight sleep to explain to you why he’s here. But you can’t focus on him right now. Can’t think about a shirtless Charlie in your bed. There’s only one thing you can think about right now.
Girlfriend.
Shirtless.
Girlfriend.
Kissing.
Girlfriend.
“Thanks for letting me crash by the way. I’ll try not to kick you in my sleep.” He chuckles, then finally opens his eyes when you don’t laugh back. You don’t know how you look right now. You know you’re frozen. But is the panic and pure sadness showing on your face? It must be, because suddenly Charlie is wide awake and leaning up on his elbow to look at you fully. “Y/N are you okay?” He’s worried. You want to tell him you’re okay. It’s fine. Everything is fine. But you can’t move. You can’t talk. Because reality is crushing you. It’s ripping up your heart, suffocating you, consuming your mind.
Owen isn’t yours.
Owen will never be yours.
You’re just a friend.
You’re just his PA.
That’s when the tears finally start. They come slowly, one trailing down your cheek, then another. Then all at once your sobbing into Charlie’s chest, no doubt getting snot all over him. But he doesn’t seem to care. He just starts to hum some random song while he repeatedly runs his hand over your hair, the other holding you close to him. He keeps humming, his chest vibrating and giving you something to focus on that isn’t your depressing thoughts. It’s almost soothing, the petting and the hug and the humming.
You don’t know how long you sob into him, but when you stop, his humming stops too. He still holds you close, just lets go of your head so you can lean back a little and look up at him. He’s brows furrow in concern and he pouts at your post-crying face.
“Are you okay? Am I really that bad of company?” He tries for funny but you can’t bring yourself to laugh with him. Just pout and push his semi-wet chest. “Seriously Y/N, i’ve never seen you like this. What’s wrong?” Those two words.
What’s wrong?
What’s wrong? I fell for my boss and now he’s doing it with some girl and I can’t stop thinking about them and it’s killing me because before I could live with being his friend and PA because at least there was some sliver of a chance but now there’s nothing because he has someone and I have no one and I can’t breathe because oh my god I love him. I love that stupid fool and i’m nothing but his personal assistant.
It’s quiet for a minute, too quiet, and that’s when you realize you said all that out loud. You look up at Charlie, which was a mistake because his face is full of pity. It’s all sad puppy eyes and “Shit Y/N i’m so sorry.” A fresh wave of tears make their way out of your eyes, but Charlie is quick to wipe them away.
“Y/N I didn’t know I’m so sorry. I wouldn’t have said all of that, God I was so stupid.” And then it’s like a whole new flood gate opens, this one full of laughter though. You start with a chuckle, but soon it’s full out belly laughing. Because Charlie isn’t the stupid one here. “I’m the stupid one. I mean, how idiotic does a PA have to be to fall for the one they’re in charge of? Never mix work with pleasure. It’s PA-ing 101, don’t fall for your boss. I’m so fucking stupid to ever fall for him or think he’d like me back because i’m just his stupid PA who has no talent what so ever, never has a good hair day, can’t go a day without eating their weight in sugar, and will never see him again after filming is wrapped.” Your laughing dies down by the end, and then ends completely when you see the look on Charlie’s face. It’s not exactly pity, but it’s not exactly sadness either. It’s hard to describe what exactly it is, but it’s not good.
“Y/N. Babes. I don’t ever want to hear you talk about yourself like that again, okay? I swear to God next time I hear anything like that come out of your mouth again, I’m hitting you with a pillow.” You giggle, but he stays serious. “Dead ass Y/N. Listen, was it probably not the smartest to fall for Owen? Yeah. But you didn’t know he had someone. I didn’t even know he had a girl and I’m his roommate. But, we can’t help who we like. It’s all brain chemistry and heart palpitations and whatever else. It’s something we can’t control. So don’t say you’re stupid because of something you can’t control.”
“You’re being really smart and caring for twelve am.” You both chuckle, a real smile gracing your face for once in the past twelve hours.
“I’m sorry for the breakdown it’s just, there’s a lot in my head right now and what you said really didn’t help.” Charlie sighs and pulls you in close.
“I’m sorry babes. You should’ve slapped me or something.”
“I probably would’ve had the breakdown at some point tonight anyway.” Charlie pulls back a bit to look at you, confusion on his face. “I kinda walked in on them making out earlier when Owen was late to hair and makeup.”
“Is that why you crushed that brownie earlier?” You sigh and nod.
“Y/N, i’m sorry. I’m so sorry you have to go through this.”
“It’s fine Charlie. It’s, well, it’s not but, I’ll get over it. I’m a big girl. Besides, I have you to get my tears and snot all over right?” He groans while you giggle, but he isn’t really mad if the way he pulls you close and rests his face in your hair is any indication.
“Always babes.”
Tumblr media
The next day you drive to set with Charlie who didn’t have to be on set at five like Owen, but joined you nonetheless. Taking his duty as your new ‘heartguard’ as he called it last night, you walk to hair and makeup with his arm around your shoulders. It’s comforting, even though he’s putting most of his weight on you because he’s exhausted, the coffee you gave him this morning clearly doing nothing to wake up.
“Charlie, you could’ve stayed in bed until you were actually needed.” You laugh as he trips up the steps to the trailer, nearly face planting if it weren’t for you wrapping your arms around his waist last minute.
“Char you good?” You hear BooBoo ask. Charlie grumbles something incoherent and shoves his face into your neck as you lean against the arm of the couch. BooBoo laughs, so do you, but quickly sober up when Owen walks in, Ashley on his arm. Charlie must have ESP or something because, without looking up at who walked in, he wraps his arms around your waist and murmurs in your ear, “Deep breaths. I’m here.” You do as he says, shooting Owen a friendly smile, but dropping it as he frowns at you.
What is that about?
“Glad to see you on time Owen. I wouldn’t have been able to break in this morning anyway because an octopus decided to break into my own apartment last night.” You ruffle Charlie’s hair as you say that and he grumbles some more, playfully biting your neck as well. “Ow. Asshole.” Owen frowns even deeper at that, while BooBoo chuckles. He get’s scolded a second later for moving.
“So that’s where you disappeared to last night. I was wondering why you weren’t home this morning.” Owen’s voice is tight while he says it, Ashley noticing as well if the tightened grip on his arm is anything to go by. Charlie squeezes your waist as a way to say, ‘prepare yourself’ before he moves his head to lean against your shoulder so he can talk.
“Yeah well, I wouldn’t have had to if you and your girl weren’t so freaking loud.” You tense up, mind starting to reel again, but a squeeze to your waist and a warm breath on your neck manages to bring you back. The trailer goes quiet, even the hair and makeup ladies tensing up and sensing the tension. Charlie, ever the wrong place, wrong time type of guy, grabs your hand and places it on his hair, then moves it back and forth.
“Pet me.” Despite the tension in the room, you can’t help but giggle at the stupid Canadian boy wrapped around you. Apparently that’s all the rest of the people in the trailer needed to go back to what they were doing. That or they just didn’t want to get involved in young adult drama. You shoot a look at Owen, his jaw tense and hands clenched into fists. Completely ignoring the way Ashley leans up to kiss Owen’s neck, you open your phone and begin to read off his schedule for the day, your left hand still running through Charlie’s hair.
“Hair and makeup at five AM, sit your butt down and let Shelly do her thing, costume fitting right after. First scene at six-thirty with BooBoo, you guys are doing the scene at the Orpheum where you talk about what’s been going on, you’re going to be sad so this whole frowny face you got going on? Keep it. A break after that then rehearsal with Charlie, Jer, and Mads for Stand Tall. Fitting for the Stand Tall suit is after that, but no actual filming for that scene yet, just getting the measures right so after that, you’re done for the day.” You take a deep breath after all that, BooBoo whistling at you from his seat.
“You could be an auctioneer with how fast you talk.” You smile and bow your head at him.
“I’ll take that as a compliment Boo.” He shoots you a smile and then raises his hand to high five Owen as he sits next to him. Owen ignores him. In fact, he stays silent throughout all of getting his hair and makeup done. Only smiling occasionally when Ashley shows him a meme on her phone. You watch them, the boulder in your chest rolling around as you do so. But not for jealousy, no, for concern. Owen is acting very unlike himself. You may be upset right now, especially with him, but it doesn’t mean you still don’t see him as a friend; still don’t worry about him. Something is wrong, and you can’t help but feel like it’s your fault.
Tumblr media
“So did it work?” You jump in surprise at the voice behind you, the cookie in your hand crumbling and falling onto the table.
“Charlie! What did I say about sneaking up on me?” You turn to look at the boy who is smiling too wide at you for you to think this is about to be a completely innocent conversation.
“Did it work?” He’s practically vibrating where he stands.
“Did what work?”
“The cuddling this morning? Didn’t you see Owen? He was totally jealous.” And - what? That’s why he was so touchy this morning?
“I just thought you were tired, that was - you were trying to make Owen jealous? Charlie what the hell? He has a girlfriend!” Charlie rolls his eyes and loops his arm around yours, dragging you away from the cookies and towards the costume room.
“Yeah, but we both know she shouldn’t be. And the way he was acting this morning? I think he’s starting to realize that too.” There’s no way...right? No, the way Charlie described last night...no.
“No, okay, he was probably just tired and angry about having to be here so early.” Yeah, that’s it. He was not jealous of the friendly cuddling you and Charlie were doing. Totally...not. Holy shit. You hear Charlie giggling in your ear as you enter costume.
There, in front of you, is a very shirtless, very toned, very pretty Owen Joyner.
“You’re welcome.” Then Charlie is off to God knows where. Leaving you alone with Owen. Well, not really alone since Soyon is here too, running around looking for different fabrics and textures to throw on Owen. A still very shirtless Owen.
“Oh, hi Y/N. What are you doing here?” Owen asks, looking at you though the floor length mirror in front of him. He’s not smiling at you, but he’s not frowning either, so improvement from this morning.
“Oh, um, just making sure you got here on time. And look at that. You did! Good job.” You clap, who knows why, but it makes Owen laugh, which, whew, okay.
“Yeah, I reminded him.” A voice behind you says. You turn and look at Ashley walking in, coffee cup in hand. She bounces up to Owen, ignoring Soyon and placing a big, wet kiss onto his lips before moving to the couch off to the side. Owen seems shocked by the PDA, which makes sense, you know he’s not big on that, remembering one late night conversation you both had a few weeks ago.
“Anyway, Y/N, how does this one looks. I think the ruffles are nice. And then when he’s performing Stand Tall we can,” and then she begins to unbutton the shirt all the way down to mid chest and okay, seriously Soyon, now you just want to torture me.
“I like this.” Owen says, twirling in the mirror like a ballerina. This causes the shirt to fling open more, showing his chest more in the process.
Deep breaths.
Be a friend.
You’re a big girl.
“Yeah. It’s good,” you say, walking over to him to tuck to the sides back together somewhat. “Are you going to keep with the pink theme for the jacket?” Soyon smiles and nods, walking away for a minute leaving you alone with Owen and Ashley.
“Should it really be unbuttoned that much? I mean, it is a kids show? I don’t want to share my boy with fangirls.” Ashley says. You can’t stop your eyes from rolling or the scoff that leaves your mouth. You watch Owen’s Adam's apple bob as he gulps.
“Please, Charlie is sleeveless for a majority of the show. Owen showing a little chest isn’t gonna hurt anyone. Besides, Soyon chose good. The way the shirt fits and settles it’s never going to open all the way. Unless, ya know, he twirls like some Carolynn Rowland wannabe.” You smile up at Owen and inhale sharply when you see he’s already looking down at you. “And with the jacket on it’ll stay put pretty well.” You’re still holding the shirt in your hands, looking at Owen’s face as you talk. For a second, it’s just you and him, looking at each other, smiling. Then Soyon comes back and clears her throat. The trance breaks and you back up. You wipe your sweaty hands on your jeans before backing up and standing next to the mirror. You feel eyes on you and look over to see Ashely glaring at you.
“Here we go. One pink jacket to match.” Owen slides it on and smiles wide. You have to say, it looks good. Professionally speaking of course.
“Soyon, have I ever said how freaking amazing you are. I mean, this is really good looking. Very Alex.” Owen praises. He’s smiling and it’s a nice sight after this mornings debacle.
“Alex is going to be the best looking one on that stage.” Owen looks over at you, his smile still there, and the boulder shrinks three sizes.
“Still think the shirt should be buttoned.” Ashley mutters. But everyone ignores her, even Owen, who does another twirl in front of the mirror.
“Well then, you’re all set Owen. Go ahead and change and I’ll see you tomorrow.” Soyon leaves, going off to do costume designer things, leaving you alone with Owen and Ashley again. Owen takes the jacket off, then looks around not knowing what to do with it. You sigh and smile softly, taking it from him.
“Here, just give me all the clothes and i’ll take them back to your rack.” He smiles thankfully at you, before frowning again and looking down at his outfit. Getting what he’s thinking, you chuckle and cross your arms. “Bub I just saw you shirtless it’s not a big deal. Now c’mon, give me the clothes before Soyon thinks you’re stealing them.” Owen looks up at you in a way you’ve never seen him look at you before. It makes you take a sharp breath in.
“Maybe you should go. I can give the clothes to Soyon. Don’t you have assistant duties to do?” Ashley is right next to you as she says it. It makes your ears hurt and hands clench. You’re quick to unclench though, not wanting to wrinkle the nice pink jacket. Ashley moves forward to unbutton Owen’s shirt all the way, but he grabs her hand before she can begin.
“Actually I need Y/N to stay. I have to talk to her about some, ya know, assistant stuff. And besides, she knows where Alex’s rack is and that’s where the clothes have to go. Why don’t you go wait for me in the trailer, I’ll be there in a few.”
I need Y/N to stay.
That shouldn’t make you feel as warm and tingly as it does.
Ashley scoffs and looks away, clearly trying to guilt trip him. Owen sighs and kisses her cheek.
“Trailer. Ten minutes.” Ashley sighs before nodding and finally leaving. He watches her go, then turns back to you when she finally disappears. You clear your throat and he looks back at you, face a bit red.
“Um, hey.” You chuckle.
“Hi.” He nods, and you sigh, walking so you’re right in front of him. “Seriously, O, you need to get this off because if they’re not on the rack for Soyon to fix up by the end of the day it’s my head on a stick, not yours.” Then you’re unbuttoning his shirt.
You’re unbuttoning. His shirt. You don’t realize you’re doing it until you hand grazes his navel when you untuck it from his pants. You hear him suck in a breath and you immediately take two steps back.
“Sorry, um. Sorry that was not, um, -”
“It’s okay. You were just, doing your job. Making sure I get stuff done on time, right?” But his voice is wobbly as he says it and his face is as red as a tomato. You couldn’t have made him that flushed, not you?
“Right. Yeah. Um, so, pants?” Owen looks at you with wide eyes. “I need to take the pants back too.” It’s quiet, but you know he heard you because he nods his head and begins to unbutton them. You suddenly feel very hot, very suffocated. You should’ve left when you had the chance, just let Ashley do this. You shouldn’t be here, watching as he pulls the velvet pants down his legs. Watching as he steps out of them and - oh God he’s falling. You grab his hand to help him but it’s too late, you both tumble to the ground. You’re on top of him, smushed up against his bare chest, faces centimeters apart, sharing breaths.
“Sorry.” You mumble. You watch him gulp and look down. Down at wha - oh.
“It’s, it’s okay. I’m the one that fell and pulled you down.” You nod, causing your nose to brush against his. You’re close, so freaking close that if you were to move not even a full centimeter, your lips would touch.
So.
Close.
“What. The. Hell!” SHit. Fuck. Shit. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.
You’re quick to scramble away from Owen, butt scooting across the floor to get as far away from him as possible. Owen jumps up, kicking the pants away then realizing that was probably not a smart idea because now he’s half naked in between Ashley and you.
“Ash I -”
“You were taking forever, wanted to know why. Thought you said there was nothing between you two?” She’s practically screeching. You know within minutes there will be a crowd. A crowd Owen will not want, his anxiety will not want. Ignoring his stuttering and the conversation in general, you push away the heat in your belly and the tingling in your spine and take a deep breath.
Deep breath.
Be a friend. Do your job.
You grab Owen’s clothes and put them in his hands, ignoring his speaking and Ashley ranting, you grab his hand and then hers, and shove them towards the back exit.
“This is a trailer conversation, not a wardrobe fitting conversation. Leave, now.”
“No, I have a lot to say -”
“Listen to me, I’m trying to do my job and not get Owen in trouble. If you really care about him, you’ll take this conversation to his trailer. Now.” Then you shove them out the door before Ashley could screech some more.
Deep breath.
Do your job.
You go back to the fitting area, only to see Charlie, Jer, and Madi standing there, looking confused.
Deep breath.
Do your job.
“Hey guys. Owen just left. He and Ashley are having a date night.” Charlie gives you a look, but Jer and Madi nod, going to accept it, but Charlie has to open his big dumb Canadian mouth.
“Why’d we hear screaming then?” Charlie questions. Jer and Madi look at each other, then back at you.
“Oh, uh, mouse. I saw a mouse. Yep. Mouse. Anyway, I have to get this clothes hung up before they wrinkle, so excuse me.”
Deep breath.
Do your job.
You walk around the trio, gathering the suit and shaking everything out as you walk over to the Alex rack to hang them up. You hear the door to the room open and two sets of feet walking out.
“Charlie, everything is fine okay? Just a little misunderstanding.”
“Like?” You sigh and turn around from finishing hanging up the clothes.
“Like...Owen kinda fell and when I went to help him I feel too...on top of him.” There’s silence then,
“OH MY GOD! Y/N THAT’S LIKE FANFIC SHIT THAT WAS THE MOMENT! DID YOU KISS OH MY GOD TELL ME EVERYTHING!” He’s jumping up and down as he makes his way to you.
“Ashley walked in.” All excitement stops.
“Oh shit.” You nod, walking past him to settle on the couch, pulling a pillow to your chest.
“Yeah. And she started screeching and I knew Owen wouldn’t like to attention so I shoved them out the back door to his trailer.” Charlie’s arm goes around you, pulling you close. He goes to say something, but your phone ringing indicating a text from Owen stops him. You pull it out, opening it as Charlie watches over your shoulder.
My trailer plz.
Charlie starts shaking your shoulders, smiling like a maniac. “This is your chance Y/N go go GO!” you shake your head at Charlie’s antics, but leave nonetheless.
Anxiety creeps up on you as you get closer and closer to his trailers, not knowing what you’re going to walk into. Him firing you? Saying you can’t be friends anymore? Ashley ready to claw your face off?
Deep breath.
Be a friend.
You knock on his door. It opens a second later to a frantic looking Owen. Now you're anxious about him. Why does he look upset? Is he okay? He grabs your hand and pulls you into his, oh, empty trailer. Ashley is nowhere to be seen.
“Hey, thanks for coming.” You nod, still looking around expecting her to jump out and slap you. “Um, sit. Sit, I have to talk to you about something.” You go to sit on the couch, but then remember what occurred there yesterday and instead lean against the counter. He notices but doesn’t say anything.
“Yeah okay. What’s up?” You try to act nonchalant, but the anxiety is too high for that. ‘I have to talk to you about something’ never ends well. He walks over and sits on the bed pats the spot next to him. God, this can’t be a good conversation if he really wants you to sit.
“Ashley and I were never...on here.” He mumbles. You walk over and sit next to him, blushing that he caught on to why you didn’t sit on the couch.
“Must be serious if you need me to sit.” Owen takes a deep breath, another, another, and then there’s lips on your. They’re soft and nice and taste like carmex chapstick.
“Mhm, Owen, what, what are you doing?” Your faces are still close together, both of you not wanting to back away yet.
“I’m gonna talk. Okay I’m gonna talk and I want you to listen and not crawl inside your head too soon okay?” You nod, knowing in this moment you’d do anything to keep him this close.
“I knew Ashley from high school. She started texting me a few weeks back and one thing led to another and she was calling me her boyfriend. I didn’t want it but it happened and I let it because it got my mind off a girl I shouldn’t like because it would ruin so many things. I didn’t know she was coming to visit and when she knocked on my trailer she jumped me and just kept going. And I just went along with everything yesterday because I’m supposed to be her boyfriend and I’m supposed to think about those things with her and I’m supposed to want those things with her, but I don’t Y/N. I don’t want those things with her I never did. I, I want them with you. I’ve wanted them with you from the moment you finally stopped being shy around me and dragged me from crafts by my ear to hair and makeup. You’re so amazing Y/N and I thought if I did anything I’d ruin this and ruin your career and I didn’t want that. I never wanted that so I went along with Ashley but I shouldn’t have because the whole time I was thinking about you. It’s always been -” You kiss him. You grab him by the cheeks and kiss him. It’s a passionate kiss, an ‘about time’ kiss, an ‘i’m never letting you go’ kiss.
You only break away when you can’t breathe, and even then you only pull away enough to breath in each other’s air.
“She left. She’s gone. She knew I was never 100% in.” You nod, but you’re not really listening. You can’t hear anything other than your heartbeat.
He likes you.
Owen likes you.
Owen kissed you.
“It’s always been you, Y/N.” You smile. It’s a big one that you have to hamper down by biting your lip. Owen smiles back, then you’re kissing again.
And again.
And again.

MASTERLIST
--------‐--------------
The sun poked through curtains and you swore that you had heard birds the day before but it was loud, uncomfortably so. All you heard was the clacking of metal and the rattling of the machinery that the construction in front of Owens Appartement made. All the unpleasant noises woke you up in the early morning. Grumbling, you tried to block out the noise with a pillow pressed against your face.
"That's not gonna work sleepy beauty" a lower voice croaked, catching you completely off guard so you let out a quiet shriek. "Oweenn why do you have to scare me badly in the morning?" You whined and took the pillow away from your face.
He sat on the other side of the couch, just underneath your feet and looked absolutely tired. His blonde hair was standing up in every possible direction, his normally piercing blue eyes trying their best to stay open. By the way, he was looking at you with a little smirk on his lips, you figured that you didn't look any better.
"Because it's 6 am on a Saturday morning and I didn't want to suffer alone. So lucky you for visiting me this week!" Owen exclaimed and hit your leg in a joking manner.
"I've got thrown out by my landlord. I'm not here on my own terms..." this earned you a shocked gasp from the boy sitting in front of you. "And there I was, thinking this friendship meant something to you." You just rolled your eyes with a smirk.
"Do you want to come back to my bedroom? With some music playing it's much quieter than out here." Nodding tiredly, he held out a hand to help you stand up; you only noticed when you nuzzled into his bed that he didn't let go of your hand.
You woke up a couple of hours later, quiet pop music filled the darkroom and it was hot, your bare legs sticking to the duvet covers. You turned around and faced a back with broad shoulders that were just moments ago pressed against your back. Groaning, you stuck your legs out of the bed, the cold air cooling you down immediately. Owen stirred next to you and sat up slowly.
"Morning part 2." you chuckled and automatically pushed some of his hair out of his face.
"Mornin" he mumbled back.
"You were right it's much quieter in your room."
You stood up, stretching your limbs, before heading back into the living room where all your stuff was stored, quite impractically but it was stored.
You heard a shower running, that gave you the perfect time to change from your big shirt and little pants sleep attire to a more comfortable day outfit. After rummaging through your boxes, that you packed in a freezy, you choose some brown cotton pants with a white body and to top it off your favourite purple cardigan that Owen gifted you one Christmas. With some extra time, you put on your glasses and started to search for a new place to stay.
"So what do you wanna do today? I have nothing going on so..." you stopped listening as Owen walked into the living room shirtless. He wore some blue sweatpants that hung quite low on his hips, his chest still sparkling from the water.
You would have probably started to drool if he wouldn't have worn his hair in a towel bun.
You let out a laugh that made him stop in his tracks.
"What?" he stared at you intensely.
"Oh, nothing princess... nothing. We uh... could look at some apartments for me and just go for a drive?"
"Am I that bad of a roommate?" he said and plopped down next to you on the couch his arm resting on the top comfortably.
"No but I would really appreciate a place to store my stuff properly." you continued to scroll through places to stay.
"This one looks good." he pointed out and put his finger on the screen, you hadn't realised that he rested his arm just above your shoulders so it took you off guard when you suddenly felt his arm on your neck.
"Mhmm, but you cant look at it today... This one though has a viewing in the late afternoon."
"Then that's our plan for today."
++
"Y/N! Y/N!" Owen screamed loudly from the kitchen "Come here real quick."
With your phone still in one hand, you waddled over to your best friend. "What's the emergency?" you looked up at him with a raised eyebrow.
"Do this TikTok with me." he pleaded and looked at you with a slight pout, shoving his phone in your face. Your eyes scanned the screen and then you scoffed, "First of all since when are you on lesbian TikTok? And secondly, that's a bit... explicit... don't you think?"
"W- Our lips don't have to touch! I don't have anybody else to do it with! Y/N Come On!" he yelled after your figure who left the kitchen with a shaking head and hot cheeks.
Your thought didn't stop racing for the rest of the day. Did Owen want to kiss you? Or was he just so comfortable with your friendship that he really didn't care? You hated that you were a cliche, falling in love with your childhood best friend. Growing up you were always the one rolling your eyes at your parents who thought that you and Owen would make just such a cute couple but here you were, sitting on his couch, your heart beating in your chest and extremely conscious of his presence.
Little did you know that Owen felt the exact same. Over the years and especially puberty, he started to develop feelings for you. At first, he tried to deny them, telling himself that it's just that he's used to you being around but then he left to pursue his acting career and he missed you more than everything in the world. Not a single day went by when he didn't think of you or tried to call you. Ever since then, he tried to be close to you in one way or the other, he didn't care if it was just his leg touching yours or your body heat warming him up.
Due to the fact that you were both anxious people, neither of you ever made a move. He missed your longing stares and you missed the way he was checking you out every time he looked at you.
His friends finally talked some confidence into him and so he took little steps into what should eventually lead to him confessing his love for you. He started to flirt more with you, give you loads of compliments and asked you if you wanted to do some TikTok or lives with him.
Tapping on your shoulder made you look up from your phone, the TikTok you've been watching looping on your screen. Owen stood next to you, his phone pointed to you, a mischievous smirk prominent on his face and whipped cream can in his other hand.
"No." you tried to be serious but a chuckle escaped your lips. Owen turned the camera to him and sprayed some cream into his mouth then stared at you with squinted eyes, the whipped cream flowing out of his mouth.
You stared at him for a couple of seconds, your brain in overdrive, hands sweaty and heart beating rapidly. An idea washed over you and you tilted your head before leaning in close. Owen's eyes went wide and he nearly choked on the cream. But you weren't gonna kiss him seconds before your lips would have met, you halted. Then you slowly took the can of whipped cream out of his hand and sprayed it all over his head.
"You didn't!" he gasped with a full mouth while you laid on the floor, holding your stomach in laughter. Something wet hit your face that stopped you from laughing further. Owen had a massive grin on his face, one hand dripping slightly and his hair, less creamy.
"Be cautious Joyner" you warned standing up on your tiptoes to be as close to him as possible, your pointer finger pressing into his chest "I know where your bed sleeps."
You tried to back out of the situation, knowing damn well that it can easily get out of hand with you two and a whipped cream match would make a lot of mess. But Owen being the child he is, didn't back out, instead, he ripped the can out of your hand and sprayed it down your back.
The war ended peacefully. The cans of whipped cream, yes you found more cans, laying somewhere in the living room both of you covered from head to toe, breathing heavily. Owen held his hands up in surrender and looked up to your position on the coffee table.
"Ha! I win! Told you I didn't want to do the TikTok." you smiled triumphantly. "I say loser cleans this up." before Owen could protest you sprinted to the shower. Lucky for you he actually started to clean up when you walked out of the bathroom, dressed in comfortable sweats and one of Owens hoodie, your damp hair falling over your shoulders.
"Hey Y/N?" Owen asked somehow nervously. "Yes darling?" you answered with a bad British accent.
"Can you come here for a second?"
"Owen I'm not doing that TikTok with you, you just saw how that ended," you argued but made your way over to him. He stood in the middle of the room, his phone propped up on a shelf.
"You have something on your face." you chuckled and whipped away some dried leftovers from your previous war.
"Can you react to this song? I don't remember where I know it from" he asked, his voice shaking slightly. You furrowed your eyebrows at his odd behaviour just moments ago he was normal and now he acted very strangely.
"Sure." he pulled you in front of him, his hands resting on your shoulders.
'Baby, you're like lightning in a bottle
I can't let you go now that I got it'
“Sounds like BORNS…” you whispered more to yourself than to him and continued to listen to the song “Are you sure you just haven't…” you turned around to face him.
Owen took this as his opportunity to cup your face with both of his hands, softly pressing his lips to yours.
Your breath hitched and it took you a second to realise what was happening. The confidence Owen had just moments ago vanished when you didn't kiss him back immediately. Why should you? You never gave a hint that you liked him like that as well.
Just as he was about to pull away and apologize profusely, you overcame your state of shock. Your arms grabbed his hips to pull him closer, deepening the kiss. You felt him smile against your lips. Your stomach erupted with butterflies, your whole body tingled and your cheeks felt hot.
He was the first one to pull away, resting his forehead on yours. Both breathing heavily, the filming camera was completely forgotten, you looked in each other's eyes.
“I wanted to do that for so long,” you admitted and unconsciously bit your lip. Owen gulped heavily, “Me too but, what the hell! I mean how crazy is that?!”

Paper Rings | OWEN JOYNER
Requested by anon: “Owen request? A series of events that leads Owen to finally working up the courage to propose to his girlfriend?” PAIRING(s): Owen Joyner x fem!reader WARNING(s): some language, mentions of abuse, panic attack, anxiety, and fluff haha WORDS: 3.7k SUMMARY: Five times Owen almost asks his girlfriend to marry him, and one time he actually does.
Tumblr media
0.
    Charlie looks around, feeling out of place amongst the big mirrors, bright lights, and the sparkling diamonds. When his best friend, Owen, told him that he wanted a ‘guys night’ (he’s still unsure as to why he wants to have one: they live together, it’s guys’ night every night – he was expecting bars, or clubs, or fancy restaurants; things they don’t get to do every night, because of work. But he definitely wasn’t expecting to be dragged into a jewellery store.
  “O, buddy, what are we doing here?”
  Owen shushes him, walking ahead to a counter. A woman with kind eyes greets him. “Mr. Joyner!”
  He smiles, familiarity pooling in his eyes.
  Charlie frowns. He didn’t expect Owen to be into jewellery – sure, he buys stuff for his sister and mother, but he always takes them with him.
  He thinks of Y/N, Owen’s girlfriend of about five years – there’s a possibility that he may be buying something for her, but it’s highly unlikely. Y/N has been pretty vocal about the fact that she hates diamonds, and who’s to blame her, really? Her father used to buy her mother a diamond necklace after every time he hit her or when he came home smelling of another woman’s perfume.
  Charlie exclaims, “Owen! I’m gonna die if you don’t tell me what’s going on!”
   “I know, I know.” He shushes him, again, and Charlie feels like a child, even though he’s older than the blonde boy. Owen turns to the woman in front of him, Miranda, as her name tag reads, and says, “I hope it’s ready.”
  She nods, excitedly. “Yes! I have it right here with me.”
  She disappears beneath the counter, and Charlie expects her to return with a big box, like a magician’s apprentice. But, instead, she emerges with a small, tiny box and he wonders –
  As realization dawns upon him, he feels a rush of euphoria. “Oh my god, are you –”
  Owen nods, his face aglow with anticipation, hope and adoration. “I – I walked into this store a couple of weeks ago, after I decided that I wanted to marry her, I mean, I’ve known it for a while, you know? I can’t see myself being with anyone but her for the rest of my life, and I want a family with her. She’s my soulmate, dude. And I – I think it’s the right time, too. She’s got that amazing job, and my career’s going great, so, yeah. I wanna marry her.”
  Charlie sniffs, feeling tears at the back of his eyes. “Bro.”
  His friend grins. “Bro.”
  Charlie pulls him into a hug, but Owen pushes him away, and they swat each other’s hands for a second before Owen whisper shouts, “Do you wanna see the ring or not?!”
  Charlie’s eyes widen and he nods. They turn to the woman in front of them, and she points to the box placed on the counter before them. “If you’re ready.”
  Owen nods, and Charlie feels amazed at the determination clouding his irises. He opens the box, and the Canadian boy gasps.
  Inside sits a simple platinum ring. Except at the middle, there’s a diamond shaped like a star. It’s so beautifully built, every edge looking like they’re fit to cut steel. And the entire ring – it’s so simple, yet beautiful, and Charlie knows why he picked it.
  It’s a mirror of the way Owen sees Y/N – something gorgeous, something priceless, something elegant, yet something so simple to him, and something that will always makes sense, no matter what.
1.
    Owen inhales, staring at his reflection in the full body length mirror in front of him. He’s going to do it today – he is going to ask his best friend, his soulmate and the love of his life to marry him. He has planned it all – even Charlie went out with the rest of the cast tonight to give the twenty-three-year-olds some privacy. (Charlie, Y/N, and Owen live together in Vancouver, at least while shooting the fourth season of Julie and The Phantoms, so, as one can guess, it’s really difficult to get a moment alone – but since the both of them love Charlie so fucking much, they don’t really mind.)
  He straightens his tie and hears soft footsteps in the hallway outside his room. Y/N’s head pokes in, her face lit up like Christmas lights.
   “Don’t you look sharp!” She says, while walking up to him and wrapping her arms around his torso. Owen smiles, catching her eyes in the reflection. “Are the bad puns ever going to stop?”
  She gasps, dramatically, and exclaims, “You don’t gotta be so mean about it!”
  He shakes his head, and feels love swell in his chest for the woman behind him. “I love you so much, you know that, right?”
  A mischievous glint appears in her eyes. “I could use a reminder.”
  Owen grins, turning backwards and cups her face in his hands, about to kiss her, when a voice stops him.
  “I think I just broke the coffee machine!”
  Y/N’s eyes widen, and she yells, “You did what?!”
  Owen’s brows furrow. “Is that –”
  She casts him an apologetic glance. “Zoe, yeah. I forgot to tell you, but Cece had to go out last minute, so I offered to watch her for the evening!”
  Usually, Owen loves kids, especially Y/N’s cousins like Zoe, but right now, he feels like jumping off a cliff. She seems to sense that as she runs her hands down his arms, and says, “I’m sorry! I know you said that tonight was gonna be just us, but you love Zoe, don’t you? And it’s gonna be fun, I promise!”
  It’s not. Owen had booked a table at Y/N’s favorite restaurant in Vancouver, and he would have proposed midway through the dinner, when the musicians there would start to play ‘Love Story’ by Taylor Swift, and when they got to the bridge, he would have dropped to a knee.
  Ignoring the weight in his chest, he plasters a smile on his face. “Yeah. Yeah. I’m sorry, I just – it’s been a while since we’ve been alone, you know? With work and all. But I’m sure it’s gonna be great with Zoe, too!”
  She nods. “Thank you. We can go out alone next week when Charlie has that photoshoot with Madi!”
  He nods. “Absolutely.”
  The little black box stays hidden in the pocket of the beige coat in his closet that he never wears.
2.
    As Y/N smiles at him, Owen thinks that this is it. This is the moment he’s gonna ask her to marry him.
  As the light from the fire illuminates her face, he thinks about how perfect this weekend has been. After long days, and even longer nights of filming, they finally got a weekend off, and Charlie immediately booked a cabin in North Vancouver.
  And there’s no one better at planning trips than Charlie.
  Along with Owen, Y/N, and Charlie; Madison, Jadah, Jeremy and his wife, Carolynn, Savannah, Sacha, and Tori are here, too, everyone basking in the peace. Throughout the weekend, they’ve done anything and everything they can do in snow – from skiing, to making snow angels, and finally, as the shades of evening rolled on the last day of their trip, they are tired.
  After dinner, everyone wordlessly returned to their rooms, and Owen knows that they’re all fast asleep, right now – except Y/N, who is still as bubbly as champagne.
  When they returned to their room, Y/N quickly lit the fire – because no matter if it’s snowing or if it’s fifty degrees outside – she is always freezing.
  It’s the opposite in Owen’s case, though – he’s always warm, and that’s why Y/N wasted no time to settle in his lap.
  Owen quickly pats his pocket to check if the ring’s still there. It is, and it’s been there for the whole weekend. He’s been searching for opportunities, but they were always either with someone, or it wasn’t a good time.
  “O?” She asks, her voice soft.
  “Hmm?” He replies, threading his fingers through her hair.
  Her eyes brighten up, putting the fire in front of them to shame. “I’ve just had an idea.”
  “Later. First, I have something to ask you.” He says, his hand reaching into his pocket again.
  She smiles. “I know what you’re gonna ask.”
  Owen’s surprised. “You do?”
  She nods excitedly. “Yeah. Charlie told me!”
  He must have had a horrified look on his face because her eyes widen quickly. “Oh, he didn’t want to, believe me! But, now that I know, tell me, when are you gonna do it?”
  Owen stammers, suddenly feeling breathless in this room. The anxiety starts to pool in his stomach, along with an anger, directed towards Charlie. “I – I – I can’t believe he told you this…”
  She shrugs. “You know that he can’t hide anything from me. He’s like the brother I never asked for. Anyway, so he was showing me some of the designs, and I love you, but I don’t think you can handle a tooth piercing.”
  Owen’s brows furrow. “What?”
  “Like, totally no offence, but you passed out when the dentist came to do a routine check up on your teeth. I don’t wanna imagine what would happen if you got them pierced.”
  “What are talking about?!”
  “Charlie and your matching piercings, dummy! What else would I be talking about?” She looks at him as if he’s grown a third head.
  Owen’s lips part. “We are not getting matching piercings – I wasn’t gonna ask you that!”
  “Oh!” Her eyes widen. “What were you gonna ask, then?”
  He gulps, thinking to himself – this is it. This is it. This is it.
  “Do you wanna go home for New Year’s?”
  He mentally curses when that question comes out of his mouth, and even with Y/N’s bright smile, he starts to feel queasy inside, knowing that he still isn’t confident enough to actually ask her.
3.
    Owen wipes his sweaty palms on his jeans and stands up. “Y/N, I have to tell you something.”
  She nods, her eyes sweeping across the mostly empty LA beach. He brought her here today to finally ask her to marry him – his past attempts have been nothing short of disastrous.
  As he opens his mouth, he feels a pang in his heart, and his mind starts to race. All kinds of thoughts race through his mind, like – what if she says no? what if she hates him for ruining what they have? What if Champagne Problems by Taylor Swift becomes his most relatable song? What if she –
  Y/N stands up, and her hand finds that of Owen’s, a reassurance, and he knows that she can sense his anxiety. She doesn’t ask him to talk about it – she knows that he will, eventually, when he’s ready. For now, she shows him that she’s here for him, and somehow that is enough.
  As she brushes his hair, his mind starts to calm down, his erratic breathing slowing down and involuntarily matching the pace of her breathing. She whispers, softly, “You’re okay. You’re safe. Everything is okay. You’re okay. I love you. I love you –”
  She keeps repeating that, until it’s like a mantra in Owen’s head, turning the racing thoughts to mere background noise.
  He opens his eyes, and looks into hers, and finally feels calm. He exhales. “That… uh....”
  She nods, comfort flooding through her eyes. “I know, baby. But it’s okay. You’re safe now.”
  He shakes his head, taking his hand in hers. “I – I – I think that maybe you and I should, uh, get – um, matching tattoos. Yeah. That’s what I wanted to ask you.” He lies.
  She nods enthusiastically. “Yes! Of course. You don’t even have to ask – we’ve always talked about it, and I think that now is the perfect time! Do you wanna –”
  As Y/N talks about designs, he thinks that he’s a fucking coward.
4.
    As Owen laughs, he feels confident, for once. He knows that tonight he’ll be able to ask her to marry him, especially in front of all his family – he loves his family, and so does Y/N and vice versa. He remembers the first time he brought her home three months after they’d started dating. He remembers feeling absolutely euphoric about the fact that she fit right in with his family. That was also the day that she had told him, for the first time, that she loves him.
  He looks around the table, and watches Y/N talk animatedly to his mother. His parents think of her as their own daughter, especially after finding out about her rocky relationship with her father. Y/N’s mother sits next to Owen, and he loves how carefree she looks – her ex-husband, really, was an asshole.
  He takes the little box out of his pocket, and his cousin, Elias, gasps. “Is that an engagement ring?” He whispers, his face scrunching as if the sentence left a bad taste in his mouth.
  Owen nods. “Yes. Elias, I would appreciate it if you kept it down.”
  His cousin raises his hands. “Always, homie.”
  He rolls his eyes. “Right.”
  Elias looks around. “Hey, do you think that it’s a good idea to propose now?”
  “What do you mean?” Owen’s brows furrow.
  “I mean people do it in private for a reason. What if she says no and then you get embarrassed in front of your entire family and hers? It’s sympathetic looks for the rest of your life, bro. And your parents wouldn’t be able to talk to her, nor to her mom, ‘cause it’d be, ya know, friggin’ embarrassing. Everyone’s probably gonna hate you.”
  Owen’s eyes widen, and he toys with the truth in his cousin’s words. Elias shrugs, and takes a sip of his water. “But it’s up to you, dude.”
  Slowly, Owen slides the ring back into his pocket.
5.
    Owen looks around, checking if any distractions could be in this room. None. How could it, though? He’s standing in an empty classroom, in the middle of winter break. Nobody in their right minds would be here.
  Well, that would mean that Owen’s not in his right mind. To be really, really, really honest – he is kind of losing it. He has been trying to propose to Y/N for the past month, but every time – every god damn time, something comes up and ruins everything.
  So, he decided to break into his middle school. Well, ‘break into’ isn’t the right phrase – he asked the guard to give him the keys for the night, and even thanked him with a hundred dollar note. Unlike his girlfriend, he’s incapable of breaking rules.
  The guard thought that it was very romantic of him, but really, he’s just tired and wants to get married already. He taps his foot anxiously, and finally hears the door opening, signalling Y/N’s arrival.
  God, she looks absolutely adorable. Her nose is crimson from the cold, and she is bundled under what seems to be ten layers of clothing. She huffs, grinning when she notices him.
  “Are we here to make out? Because your house was much more comfortable and so, so warm.”
  Owen shakes his head. “Nope.”
  “Well, are you gonna murder me, O? Because, well, it’s certainly the perfect location.”
  “I have to tell you something.” He says, taking a step toward her. He looks around and sees that there is nothing that could possibly ruin this moment, and smiles brightly, preparing himself. Y/N’s eyes gleam with anticipation, as she nods for him to continue.
  “Y/N, I still remember the day that I met you. I remember the way you smiled at me even though I had spilled black coffee all over you and ruined your very pretty, white dress.”
  She laughs. “I was really mad at first, yeah. But the cutest boy in all of Oklahoma was in front of me, and well, you know that I was a goner.”
  He smiles fondly. “And the beautifulest girl in the world was in front of me.”
  “That’s not a word.”
  “I know. And then you laughed at my dumb jokes, and even agreed to go on a date with me.”
  “To compensate for that absolutely gorgeous dress.” She clarifies, a teasing smile on her face.
  He grins sheepishly. “And then somehow, somewhere we fell in love, and somehow, you became my other half, and somehow, I can’t imagine a world without you. I don’t want to. You are my best friend, and you are the one person around whom I can be completely myself and face no judgements.”
  “No, I do judge you. You’re a little questionable.”
  “And what would I do without your wicked sense of humour?”
  “Honestly? You’d be lost without me. I mean, you forget to even put your socks in the washing machine.”
  “You’re not supposed to wash them. They go on your feet. Obviously.”
  “That is disgusting, and you know it.”
  He laughs. “I wanna be with you for the rest of my life, and I… I… I want a family with you, you know? I know that we’ve never talked about this, and I don’t know how you would feel about one, but still, if you’re up for it, I’m too. But, if you don’t, that’s okay, too. More than okay.”
  For a moment, an unrecognizable expression crosses her face, and he wonders if he’s hurt her. But then the biggest smile blooms on her face.
  “We should have talked about this. But I would like a family with you, too. I mean, I’ve never really wanted one, and you know why. But, after seeing you and your family, I realized that a part of me does want it. I do want to have the home that I never got to have with you and I wanna do better. I know that you’ll be an amazing dad, and I wanna raise my kid the way that kids should be raised. And I want it with no one else but you.”
  Owen feels as if he’s on cloud nine, and he stares at her for a moment, wondering how lucky he is to find a girl like her. He says, “Y/N, I –”
  Before he can ask her the question, though, her ringtone cuts through the silence of the empty classroom. She whispers an apology and takes her phone out from her jeans pocket.
  She accepts the call and speaks into the phone. “Hey, Luka, what’s up? Whoa, whoa, whoa. Slow down. Luka, slow down.”
  She exchanges a panicked look with Owen.
  Speaking of Owen, he’s losing it. Absolutely. He was so close. And for the first time, he had both confidence and hope. And something had to happen. He starts to feel annoyed at Luka, his sister, and then immediately feels bad about it, but then starts to feel annoyed again.
  “Oh no, you did what? Do you need me to come?”
  At Y/N’s last sentence, Owen bursts out. “Oh, for fuck’s sake!”
  Y/N raises her brows at him. He feels anger replacing all his emotions, anger towards the world, it’s timings, and mostly, towards himself.
  Sensing his rage, Y/N gives him a weird look. “What is wrong with you?” She whispers.
  “Everything. Everything is wrong!” He whispers back.
  He starts to feel breathless, and the familiar sensation of a panic attack starts to overcome him. He looks around, trying to focus on something, anything, when he spots the door.
  He looks at his girlfriend, and says, “I love you, but I’m gonna lose it.” With that, he walks by her, and out the doors, while she yells after him.
+1.
    It’s been twenty minutes since he last talked to Y/N, and he has lost all hope. He’s now sitting on a park bench a couple of minutes away from the school, and he is listing all the reasons why his life is absolutely shit.
  “Hey, you okay?”
  Owen looks up, and notices Y/N walking up to the bench, with a concerned look in her eyes.
  “I – I just… I’ve been trying to ask you something, Y/N, for the past month. And every time I try to do it, I’m either interrupted, or I’m not confident enough. And, today, there were no distractions, and I was finally feeling confident and hopeful and then my sister decides to ruin it – is she okay, by the way?”
  She nods and sits down beside him. “Yeah, she misplaced her dress for tonight.”
  He grits his teeth in annoyance. He loves her, but his sister has the worst timing.
  Y/N rests a hand on his, an odd look taking over her features. “You should know by now that the answer will always, and obviously be a yes.”
  Owen sharply turns towards her. “What?”
  A brilliant smile makes its way onto her face. “You are gonna propose, aren’t you?”
  A gasp involuntarily escapes him. “How’d you know?”
  “Well, you just said some pretty nice things about me. Also, I can see the outline of the ring box, and you keep checking your pocket for it every two minutes, even if you don’t realize it. You’re literally doing it right now.”
  In his defence, he wasn’t, or rather, isn’t consciously doing it. He slowly retracts his hand from his pocket and gives her a sheepish smile.
  She stands up. “Really, O, are you gonna do it or not –”
  “Yep, yep, yep.” He clears his throat and stands in front of her and drops to a knee. He takes the ring out, and flips open the box, and as the diamond’s reflected light dances across her face, Y/N gasps.
  “Oh my god, that’s gorgeous!”
  He grins. “I have great taste.”
  She smiles teasingly. “I know, baby.”
  “Will you ma–”
  “Yes! Yes, yes, yes!”
  “You didn’t even let me finish!”
  “Someone would’ve probably interrupted you and I couldn’t take the chance of you losing your shit again.”
  “You do have a point.”
  “I always do.”
  He slides the ring onto her finger, and she kneels in front of him to match their heights. She wraps her arms around his neck, and he wraps his around her waist, both desperate to be closer, closer, closer.
  “I love you so much.” He whispers into her hair, and she kisses his shoulder.
  “I love you. Forever.”
  She untangles herself from him, and as she kisses him, Owen realizes that he had no reason to be worried at all.

PDA
Tumblr media
Request: Hello! Could you do an Owen Joyner one where he finds out (in a game or something) that his S/O likes forehead kisses and to be called Angle and Chickadee?
A/N: I hope you guys enjoy! There are no warnings for this one! I am happy to take more requests if anyone has them! xoxo
_________________________________________________
You didn’t want to be frustrated or upset but you were, you weren’t huge on PDA either but it’d be nice if your boyfriend acted like your boyfriend in public. But no, Owen would barely even hold your hand in public and you didn’t really understand. He wouldn’t even call you a nickname.
It just never felt like the right moment to bring it up or tell him, you didn’t want to make him do anything he was uncomfortable with or upset him. It would be nice to feel like your boyfriend was proud of you and wanted to show you off just a little bit though.
It seems random to be having all these thoughts right now, but you’re getting ready for a party tonight with the rest of the cast so you know that Owen wouldn’t be very close to your side for the rest of the night.
You’re finishing getting ready, running your fingers through your curled hair and making sure that your dress is laying perfectly on your body. If he wouldn’t touch you, you could at least make him look at you.
“Hey Y/N, almost ready?” You hear your boyfriend calling out to you as you walk into the hall, almost running into him not realizing he was walking towards the room.
“Oh, I’ll take that as a yes.” He says with a laugh, while looking down at you and grabbing onto your hands to make you do a twirl.
“You look beautiful.” He says, leaning down to give you a kiss.
“Thank you, you don’t look too bad yourself.” You’re not wrong, he looks good. He’s in a button up and his hair has gotten longer since filming and it really just made him that much more handsome.
You lean in to give him one more kiss, then taking him by his hand to walk into the living room. Charlie is sitting on the couch waiting for you guys and upon seeing him Owen is quick to drop your hand. Yep, even in front of Charlie he still won’t show much affection. You feel your smile fall and Charlie notices, giving you a sympathetic smile.
“Well you guys ready to go?” Charlie asks while grabbing his keys heading for the door, you guys following behind him.
Charlie and Owen occupy the front seat and you take the back. The boys quickly fall into their conversation, leaving you just giving them “oh yeahs” and “mm’s.” You’re not really in the mood for a conversation right now, too caught up in your thoughts. Owen notices your silence though.
You get to the party rather quickly; it wasn’t far from the boy’s apartment. You hop out of the car and head towards the door but before you can, Owen is grabbing onto your hand pulling you behind.
“Is everything okay?” He asks the worry evident on his face and voice.
“Ya, I’m fine!” You lean in to give him a quick kiss before you walk inside, him closely behind.
By the time you make it inside, the party is already in full swing. Everyone has huge smiles on their faces and are having a great time.
“I’m gonna go catch up with the boys, see if I can find them.” Owen tells you; he gives your hand a quick squeeze.
“Sounds good, I’ll find the girls! We can catch up later.” You let him know with a smile and then you two are on your separate ways.
You make your way through the party hoping to see your friends, but you’re having a hard time. As much as you know the cast and crew, there are still a lot of crew members you didn’t know or have yet to meet.
A familiar laugh catches your ear as you turn the corner. That’s when you see the girls, Madi, Jadah, and Tori; but not Savannah, weird. You walk up to the group, quick to give everyone hugs, saying hello.
You’re quick to get engulfed in the conversation with the girls. They’re talking about some guy Tori thought was cute at the party. You jump at the feeling of someone’s hand on your wrist, you turn to see Savannah smiling at you.
“Can I steal you for a second, talk really quick?” She asks, you nod letting her know yes.
“I’ll be right back girls.” They give you a quick wave and immediately go back to their conversation.
Savannah pulls you through the party and leads you outside to the balcony. She turns and just stares at you for a bit. You give her a look of confusion.
“Soooo?” She asks.
“Sooo what??” You ask, confused by her actions now.
“Have you talked to Owen yet?” Oh, ya. Savannah has been your confidant lately with how you have been feeling.
“No, I haven’t. It’s never felt like the right moment to bring it up...” You trail off.
“Come on Y/N, you’re never gonna feel better or fix the issue if you don’t talk to him about it!”
“I know Sav, it’s just how do I bring it up? Like hey Owen, I really wish you would act like you liked me in front of other people?? Like a nickname would be nice or even just forehead kisses!! Instead of always just dropping my hand and standing like 5 feet away from me!”
“You have to tell him...” She tells you.
“I know, I know! But seriously it’s hard! I don’t know how to be like hey maybe please use a nickname? Call me Angel maybe? I always thought that was a cute one. I know he’s not huge on PDA but holding my hand doesn’t seem to hard or just leaving kisses on my forehead, that’s all I ever really wanted!” You tell her getting more frustrated by the minute.
Little did you know that Owen was standing on the other side of the door listening to the whole thing. He was looking for you and noticed you and Savannah on the balcony. He went to talk to you guys but once he heard you talking it stopped him dead in his tracks.
Did he really do that? He knows he wasn’t very loving in public, it’s just that PDA wasn’t really his thing. He didn’t mean to make you feel that way or make it seem like he didn’t want people knowing you were his girlfriend.
He walks away to gather his thoughts; he really didn’t want to hear the rest of the conversation as it started to break his heart.
“Hey man, you alright?” Charlie asks him as he can see the concern on Owen’s face when he makes his way back over to the guys.
“Do I really push Y/N away when people are around? Like does it seem like I’m embarrassed by her or that I don’t like her?” He asks Charlie, by the look on Charlie’s face he thinks he knows the answer.
“If you want the truth man, ya. You drop her hand and move away from her even if it’s just me in the room. I get it, you’re not huge on PDA but you could give her a little affection. It wouldn’t hurt anyone and I know it would make her feel better.”
“So, she’s talked about to you also?” That one hurt, everyone seemed to know but him.
“Well ya. Not a lot though, she just wanted to see if it was just in her head or not. She didn’t want to bring it up because she didn’t want to hurt you or make you uncomfortable.” Charlie says, putting his hand on Owen’s shoulder to comfort him.
“I would go talk to her dude, only way you can make it better.”
Owen knows he’s right. He goes to find his girlfriend hoping he could fix the situation. He never wanted her to question his love for her.
He’s able to find her back inside with the group of girls. They all are sitting on the couch, talking and drinking from their cups. When they see Owen approach, silence falls over them.
“Hey Y/N, could I maybe steal you for a second? I just wanna talk to you.” He says reaching his hand out to her. This could be the start of the change. She looks at him and then his hand and takes it hesitantly.
He quickly pulls her through the crowd, but instead of the balcony this time he takes her to an empty room for some privacy. Once the door is closed, he’s quick to place his lips on hers. Her hands quickly entangling themselves in his hair as she melts into the kiss.
She is quick to pull away though.
“Owen, as much as I love kissing you. This is not normal.” She tries laughing it off.
“What’s up with you?” She asks him, the confusion evident on her face. As much as her boyfriend is loving in private, he would never pull something like this because of his fear that someone may walk in.
“Truthfully Y/N, I overheard your conversation with Savannah...”
“Oh...”
“Ya, then I asked Charlie about it too and he said you talked to him about it also. I didn’t really realize I was doing that and I’m sorry but it does hurt that you went to everyone else but me to talk about it.” He says, while pulling on her hand to have her sit next to him on the bed. His hand then moving to caress her thigh.
“It’s okay, I just… I don’t know. I never knew how to bring it up. I never wanted to force you to do something you weren’t comfortable with or make you feel hurt. It just felt easier talking to everyone but you and I’m sorry, I was just scared.” You look down at his hand that’s on your thigh, embarrassed that this is the way he found out. Owen’s quick to place his hand under your chin, pulling your face up to make eye contact.
“You never have to feel that way when it comes to talking to me about these kinds of things. I want you to come to me with anything no matter what it is, that way we can talk it through and fix it. I never knew I was acting like that! PDA always just intimidated me and I wasn’t really sure how to go about it, ya know? I never wanted to make you feel weird either.” Of course, that sounds like your boyfriend. You chuckle at the thought, of course he was worried about messing something up as silly as PDA.
His face lights up at the sound of your chuckle, knowing his words are helping the situation.
“I get that, but I can promise you some PDA is way better than none!” You tell him, playfully swatting at his chest. Owen grabs onto your hand and pulls you close to leave a sweet kiss on your lips.
“Noted.” He is laughing before placing another kiss onto your lips. Then he’s pulling you to your feet and pulling you close for a hug.
“So angel, we’re better know?” Your cheeks tinting pink at his words knowing he overheard your conversation with Savannah.
“Ya, we’re all better now.”
“Anything else I should need to know before we head back out there? Other nicknames? Any other notes you’d like to give me.” He asks, laughing.
“You know I always liked the idea of the nickname chickadee! I always thought it was cute and a little different.” You tell him, watching a smile form on his face.
“Chickadee and Angel it is then.” He says and places a kiss on your forehead.
“Heard you like those too.” Owen sends you a wink at his words. You laugh pulling him in for another hug and kiss.
As you pull apart, he places one last kiss on your forehead.
“Well let’s get going then angel, time to show the world how much I adore you.”
He’s got you by the hand and pulling you back out to the party. A huge smile across both your faces.

Contest Winner-Owen Joyner
Tumblr media
A/n- I got this idea from when Owen was telling his fans how it would be funny to marry one of us after the pandemic. So I decided to write a little imagine about it. This is a long one folks, get comfy and grab a snack. Jk but enjoy this adorable master piece.
-Samantha
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Your POV
I was chilling in my room when I got a notification from instagram. It was from Owen telling his fans that he was going live.
‘Live’
“Hey Guys!” Owen said
I commented ‘Hi, I love you so much.’
He talked about random things until something caught my attention.
“ All right guys, I want to talk about something. I want to have a contest.”
I watched the comments and everyone was freaking out how they want to win. I commented..
‘ What’s the contest about?’
I watch Owen look at all the comments before reading mine.
“ What’s the contest about? Well let me tell you. You guys remember how I said it would be funny to marry one of you.”
I saw people commenting ‘yes’
“ Well that’s what the contest is for. I will post the rules on my instagram story. But right now I have to head off. Good luck to all my fans that are going to enter the contest. Love y’all.”
Once the live ended I waited for the story Owen was going to post.
‘Ten minutes later’
I heard my phone ding, so I immediately grabbed it and went to his story.
‘His story’
Contest Instructions
Need to be 18 or older
Dm me a picture of you and then tell me why I should pick you.
Also tell me about yourself.
Good Luck!
I smiled and got started on messaging him. I type out everything I wanted to say and sent it with a picture.
(imagine what you would say to him)
After I sent it I started getting nervous and anxious about how I may not win or I could win. I tried to calm my breathing but nothing was working so I started looking at Owen’s videos because he helps me calm down.
‘Two months later’
I was at work helping customers when I felt my phone vibrating like crazy. I took it out when the customers left. I saw Owen announced the winner and people were taking me in posts. I got nervous for what I was about to find out. I was about to go check it out, but other customer came in. I sighed and put my phone away.
‘Time Jump’
I was finally home and I gave out a shaky breath before clicking on Owen’s story.
‘Hi everyone I wanted to thank everyone of you for entering. I have picked and it was hard because you all gave interesting responses. Anyway let’s welcome my new wife. Drum Roll please! @yourusername! Congrats Y/n Y/l/n, you are my forever wife.’
I stared at my phone screen in shock. I then felt tears falling down my face. I also felt myself shaking. I went to my direct messages to find a message from Owen. I opened it to find.
‘ Hey, congrats on winning the contest I am so excited to meet you. I juts have some questions for you.’
I started typing out ‘ Omg, I can’t believe I actually won the contest. I am more excited to meet you. What are the questions you want to ask?”
I saw the messaging bubbles pop up, so I started getting anxious again.
‘I am glad you’re just as excited as me. Questions...
1)How old are you?
2) Where do you live?
Sorry if it sounds rude just wondering so I can get a ticket for you to come to Norman, Oklahoma.’
I got excited when he responded. ‘ You’re not at all being rude. I already know why you need to know this information. To answer them I am y/a/n and I am from y/h/s.’
Owen then responded with ‘ Great, I will book you a plane ticket for Wednesday.’
I then decided to do a bold move and send him a quick picture with a caption, ‘Can’t wait to meet you!’
I then got a picture of Owen which made me giggle a little. I continued to talk to him until I needed to head to sleep.
‘Time Jump’
Today was the day I was flying out to Norman, Oklahoma. I was rushing around my apartment trying to find everything that I needed to pack last minute. Once I zipped my suitcase up I made my way downstairs to get in my Uber I ordered while in the elevator.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I made it off the plane and started heading over to grab my bag before looking for Owen since he told me he was picking me up.
Owen’s POV I was waiting for Y/n next to the doors and I started getting nervous. I looked down at my phone to see what she looked like again. I heard someone yell my name.
“ OWEN!”
I saw her walking up to me really fast. I smiled and met her in the middle. She bit her lip a little and said..
“ Hi”
I smiled “ Hi”
She gave me a shy look which made me give out a little chuckle. I said...
“ Hey, don’t get all shy on me now.”
She let out a cute giggle.
“ Should we head out of here?” She asked me
I nodded to answer and held my hand out to her. She smiled and grabbed my hand.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Two years later
Your POV
I was chilling in the kitchen when I heard the front door open.
“ Hello?” I questioned
I saw Owen walk into the kitchen, “ Hey beautiful.”
I smiled and walked up to him and gave him a quick, but meaningful kiss. I felt him smile into the kiss. I pulled away from the kiss, but kept my arms wrapped around his neck.
“ I love you Y/n/n.” he whispered
“ I love you to Owen.” I whispered back
Owen’s POV
I smiled at her and pecked her lips again before I told her..
“ I’m taking you out tonight.”
She let out a cute giggle and nodded her head.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Third Person POV
Owen and Y/n were sitting across from each other having the best time. Little did Y/n know Owen was planing on proposing to her.
Owen’s POV We were waiting for our dessert when I was starting to sweat a little. I was going to propose to the most beautiful girl every. I grabbed her hand in mine and smiled. She smiled and grabbed my other hand.
“ I love you so much Owen.”
“ I love you much more Y/n.”
I leaned over the table and kissed her lips. I felt her smile into the kiss. I pulled way from her lips, and I stood up and grabbed the ring box out of my pocket.
Your POV
I saw Owen pull something out of his pocket, so I pushed my chair away from the table.
“ Owen, what are you doing?” I asked nervously
He gave me a little smile, before bending down on one knee. I felt tears well up in my eyes.
“ Y/n Y/l/n, you have been the most amazing girlfriend ever. I am glad that I picked you for my contest. You are so special to me. You make me so very happy and I hope we can spend the rest of our life together. Will you marry me Y/n?”
I could feel the tears falling down my face. I tried my best to smile through my tears.
“ Yes, definitely!” I shouted
Owen slide on the ring and then stood up to give me a loving meaningful kiss. I pulled him closer to me, but then pulled away when I heard clapping. I saw everyone in the restaurant cheering.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Three months later
Third Person POV
Owen and Y/n were both getting ready for their wedding. Y/n was getting ready with Madison, Savannah, Jadah and Carolynn, while Owen was with Charlie and Jeremy.
‘Time Jump’
Your POV It was about time for me to marry the love of my life.
“ Y/n, you ready?” Madison asked
I gave her a nervous smile and got up to grab my dads arm.
“ Honey, I am so proud of you.” he confessed
I felt tears well up in my eyes. My dad said...
“ On darling don’t cry, you’re going to mess up your beautiful make up.”
I let out a giggle. “ I love you dad.”
He gave me a hug “ I love you to sweetie.”
My dad walked me down the aisle all the way to Owen.
Owen’s POV I felt tears in my eyes when I saw her walking down the aisle. Her dad gave her one last hug before giving her over to me. She gave me a huge smile which I responded back with a smile. The priest was talking to us and when he said that we could state our vowels.
(Owen’s vowels)
“ Y/n, when I picked you I knew you were the one I wanted to spend the rest of my life with you. You and I have had some of the funniest times like are late night drives. I am in love with you and I will fall more inlove with you my the second. I will also promise to love you till the day we are no longer living.”
( your vowels, imagine what you would say)
“ Owen Patrick Joyner due you take Y/n Y/m/n Y/l/n to be you newly wedded wife until the last day you breath.”
I looked at the priest before looking back at her. “ I do”
The priest then looked at Y/n “ Y/n Y/m/n Y/l/n due you take Owen Patrick Joyner to be your newly wedded husband until your last breath.”
She smiled “ I do.”
“ You may now kiss the bride.”
I pulled her into me and dipped her into a passionate kiss. Everyone cheered us on when we made our way to the limo. The both os us looked out the back window and waved.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I hope this is good, I personally been to like one wedding but I was little so I don't remember anything. Also I hope everything makes sense if not just give me tips in the comments. Thanks enjoy!!!!!!!

Mellillla || Owen P. Joyner
Chapter one~ I'll be dead
High school sweethearts as their friends called them but they were never in a relationship. Several years passed them when their life moved on. Will their paths meet again?
AN: Hey guys.. so here's my first Owen Joyner x fem!OC. Hope you enjoy it :)
Tumblr media
The brunette girl hurried through the hallways to her next class, many other students stood by their lockers chattering with one another. Her flow was interrupted as someone grabber her arm making her stop.
"Why are you running, Dahl?" A breath of relief escaped her lips when she saw Lilith.
"We have a class in like two minutes," she argues.
Lilith let out a chuckle. "We have lunch you idiot" her chuckle grow into a loud laughter.
"What really?" Dahlia turns her left wrist to see the watch.
"What the.."
"You're hilarious," her hand resting on her abdomen from laughing.
"That's not funny," Dahlia's index pushed her glasses further on her nose.
"Come on, let's get you some food," the red haired girl grabbed her wrist pulling her to the cafeteria.
When they arrived there her graze felt on her group of friends sitting on one of the tables near the wall as always.
"You made it, D. Finally," Samuel raises his hand for her to high five it.
She came to a halt and her hand met a wet one.
"Why.. what was that," she groans bringing her hand up to her nose. It didn't smell at all.
"Chill it was just water" he holds his bottle up.
Dahlia rolled her eyes while sitting down.
"So what's your plan for the weekend?" Chloe asks.
"Well, I have volleyball on Saturday and Sunday there's this school play where the bands playing," Dahlia explains as she steals some carrots from Lilith.
"And after that?"
"Serious? After that I'm dead" she knitted one of her brows.
"There's a campfire at Josh's," Jacob suggests.
"Feel free to go" she gestures with her hand.
"Not without you D." He states.
"I'm not coming"
"Please Dahl," Emma had her puppy eyes as she pleaded.
"Guys.. fine, maybe" Dahlia grabs her backpack.
"Where you're going?"
"The break is over in a few. I'm just eluding the big crowd." She winked at them and made her way over to the door.
"She really left. What a girl" every single one at the table began to laugh.
After her last class the brunette had her last rehearsal for the show on Sunday. Her feet steps into the room and her eyes laid abruptly on this special person.
His cap was turned around and held most of his hair back yet single strands of his blonde hair were falling into his face as he played enthusiastic the drums.
She walked over to the piano and took a seat. Her finger run softly over the ivories. A shy small smile suited her lips, deep in her thoughts. Dahlia didn't noticed that someone walked over to her, she shrieks slightly as the shadow laid over her.
"Hey gurl," the familiar voice spoke.
"Val," Dahlia was on her feet again throwing her arms around her.
"I thought you wouldn't come"
"I can't miss this. You know" she rolled her eyes with a smile on her lips.
"Didn't saw you during break" she points.
"I came just for this" the blonde explains.
"Cause I couldn't do this without you"
"We're just rehearsing," Valerie laughs.
"I couldn't do it either," she retorts.
"I know."
"Please take your seats," the teacher shouts.
"We begin with song 3 cause y'all suck at it."
Dahlia was the first to play in this, she nervously let her fingers fly over the keys again. Then the drummer began quietly, giving it all a rhythm and then the rest. Their teacher was somewhat disgusted but also kinda hopeful that her class could do it just good.
"Dahlia, a little louder please," the named girl hit the keys a little harder and her teacher send her a thumb up.
The chords of the last song echoed through the room and the students as well as their teacher seemed pleased.
"Great guys. Go home and get some rest before sunday," the teacher suggests suggests as the music stops.
All the students gathered around the drums giving the person behind various compliments. Dahlia herself moved to the door already out of the room as her teacher calls after her.
"What's wrong?" She arrived at the table.
"You sure about the scholarship?" He questions.
"Yeah, I think I suck too much. I wouldn't make it in the business," Dahlia insists.
"Whatever you say sweetie. I don't wanna push you into something," he states.
Her graze falling on her hands.
"But it'd be a loss," Dahlia's view rose up.
"Thanks but.. I really don't know," she shrugged her shoulders.
"It's okay, Dahlia, really," he gave her a resuring smile. Dahlia nodds and waved to her as she made her way out.
"What did he wanted?" Valerie throws her arm around her shoulder guiding her to the exit.
"Just the scholarship thing"
"Just? Are you serious? Are you stupid? Actually don't answer. I thought we'd have a girl night. At 7 at mine?"
Dahlia nodds as an answer and went to her mother's car.
"See you baby," Valerie shouts after her, Dahlia just winked at her.
"Hi mom," she opens the passenger door and threw her backpack in, following it shortly after.
"Hey hun."
"Can I sleep over at Val's?"
"Yeah of course but don't forget your game tomorrow"
"She'll drive me there."
Actually Valerie is a senior like most of the people in the band but Dahlia is allowed, due to her outstanding grades and well playing, to be in the band. At first her parents were suspicious because the kids were all two til three years older than her innocent Dahlia.
But surprisingly the others hadn't a problem with her joining the band they were even keen. Mostly all of them.
"Can you maybe bring me to her?"
"Your sister said she's going to a friend too, she'll drop you there," she explains.
"Great," she comments. Well since Dahlia joined the band at the end of her freshman year, her sister hears her name more often from her friends having no spare time of her.
"I don't know where your problem is"
"Well since I joined her some of her friends in the band she hates me."
"She doesn't mean it like this. I think she's scared you're stealing her friends."
"That was a year ago and I haven't, not even one. Just Val," and that was the point.
Valerie and Serena were friends, best friends until high school started for them but Valerie and Dahlia became friends after two years off their "break up".
It wasn't pretty , it was filthy to be honest but it was Serena's fault mostly but that's yesterday's news.
"You're breaking the news to her," the young girl says as she exits the car.
When Dahlia entered her room the first thing she does is to put her glasses into its case, the second thing is to pack her suitcase for the weekend, during the drive home she clarified that she'd stay the whole weekend at her friend's house.
"I'm not driving you there," her sister rushes into the room.
"Well good afternoon to you too, sister," she comments.
"But it's literally on your way. You're even driving her road," dahlia adds.
"But I have to stop right in front of her home," Serena argues.
"I'd jump out the car," the brunette suggests.
"That's a great idea," she turns around and leaves as fast as she got in.
She's so dump Dahlia thought.
"I'm leaving on 6.30" Serena shouted through the door and a smile creeped on Dahlia's lips. She continues to push her things into the suitcase.
"You're moving out?" Her younger brother questions as she wandered to the stairs.
"Shut up."
"Just that you know. Mom says if you blow up the house she puts you up for adoption," she announced as her feet steps on the first stair.
"You ready?" Dahlia nodds and followed her sister behind.
The car ride was covered with silence, neither of them said a single word until they arrived at the front of Valerie's house.
"Thanks for driving me Serena," Dahlia gave her a weak smile as she grabs her suitcase and moved the way to the front.
"You're finally here," Valerie throws the door open and pulled her inside.
"Had Serena really droped you here?" Dahlia nodds, waving Val's parents as they walked past them.
"Hello dear. Nice to see you again," her mother greeted the brunette.
"You'll find us upstairs," she tells them.

"Alright, a cheeseburger extra pickles with potato wedges and a chicken tender platter with fries. Would you like any ketchup or honey mustard?" the waitress looked at Piper.
"Ketchup, please," the girl responded. The waitress nodded and took off toward the kitchen while Piper took a sip of her strawberry lemonade.
"Ranch goes better with chicken tenders than any other condiment. Too bad you can't have it," Lillian chuckled.
The brown haired girl rolled her eyes at her friend. Every time Lillian got the chance, she'd brag about how great food is with certain things that she knew Piper couldn't have. 'Ah, the many glories of being lactose intolerant,' as Piper would say.
The two girls were complete opposites, but mentally and emotionally were somewhat the same; it's what makes them such great friends. Lillian was the type of person that you would be intimidated by at first, but would grow to love if you didn't piss her off the first time you'd met. Bold and stubborn are her most obvious traits, but only a few new Lillian for who she was deep down behind closed doors. Piper could read her like a book, but never pushed Lillian when she knew she wasn't ready. Lillian Greene was the friend everyone needed in their lives, but only few have been graced with.
"Has Artemis calmed down a little since Hudson came home?"
Piper was chewing the bite of french fries she had just put in her mouth. "Uh, no, not really." She swallowed her food before she continued. "I mean, he has in the sense of coming home before three in the morning. The dude still goes out and does who knows what, but Hudson keeps close tabs on him. I'm just glad he came home and I didn't have to babysit Art anymore."
The curly haired best friend nodded to Piper as a sign of understanding and comprehension of what she had said. "Well, if you and Hudson ever need a babysitter for him, you know my schedule." Lillian winked at her friend.
Piper gagged. "I still think it's so weird that you like my brother. It's been over ten years now, Lil. You know you can't tame that feral beast."
Lillian shot back playfully, "Hey, a girl can try!"
The friends giggled until a phone notification caught their attention. "Work?" Lillian asked Piper.
"Who else would it be," Piper stated dryly. "They want me to come in fifteen minutes early because they've hired a new girl and she starts today." She started to pile her utensils and things on top of her empty plate of food and took one last sip of her drink. Piper stood up from the booth. "Text me how much mine is and I'll venmo you when I get a chance. I'm so sorry."
Lillian looked at her friend. "Don't worry about it, Pipes. I still owe you for buying my food last week. Call this even."
Piper smiled at her friend and held up her hands in the shape of a heart in front of her chest before she turned around and headed for the front door. Even though her job was just right down the road, Piper got in her car and drove since she wouldn't be going back to Greene's after her shift.
The familiar bells chiming above the door when Piper walked in grabbed the attention of her coworker, manager and the new hire. She made her way over behind the desk to set her belongings down and then faced the people present in the room. The lobby was quiet besides the constant low hum of the vending machine echoing through the space.
"Thank you for coming in early. I know you were probably at lunch with Lillian, and I apologize for that, but Lloyd wanted you to come in so that he could show the new girl around."
The girl smiled softly at her friend. "It's okay, Z. I was finished with my food anyway."
"Right, okay, so welcome to The Lotus, Zoe! This is Piper and Zion. Piper is lead concierge and been here for about four years and Zion has been here for around two and a half. If you have any other questions that I do not answer during your training today, feel free to ask Piper for answers. This girl knows this place like the back of her hand." The dark haired girl glanced at Piper for a second, then at Zion, and then back at Piper. Her second look at Piper could have turned her into stone.
Lloyd and Zoe walked to the back to go over some ground rules and give her papers containing information about her new job. Zion turned to his friend and coworker. "Let's hope she doesn't quit after a week like the last person did."
Piper chuckled, "Yeah, let's hope not."
A few hours go by with foot traffic being steady  for a Thursday afternoon. Zion was forced to take his break with the new girl, which left Piper at the front desk all by herself for half an hour. She didn't particularly mind since there was still an hour or so before the business started to pick up. The girl hopped off of her stool to go scan a room key back into the system as unoccupied. The chiming bells above the front door signaled that someone had probably come in. Piper faintly heard footsteps approaching the front desk and a couple seconds later hearing the bell atop of it ringing out.
"I'll help you in just one second," she called out.
The red indicator on the computer screen switched to green, telling her the key has been unassigned to the previous person. Piper slid the key into it's manila envelope and placed it into the correct number cubby.
"Alright," she said as she exited the room," how may I help y-"
Piper's words were cut off when she saw the person waiting at the desk. She wanted to speak, but she couldn't find the words.
"Hi, Piper. I need a room i- if that's okay,” he quickly stuttered the last part. The boy pushed the sides of his hair that was sticking out under his hat back behind his right ear.
"Of, course you can, Mr. Joyner. Is it just for one night?" Piper asked. The shock and excitement of seeing Owen again after a couple weeks made her want to do a little dance.
"I'll actually be here for about a week," he said.
"A week it is then," she said to him with a smile as she registered a room to him.
Piper went and grabbed a key card for him after taking his payment. He thanked her and went on his way to find his room that he would reside in for the next week. Her mind was spinning a million miles an hour. She hasn't seen the guy for only a short period of time and couldn't get him out of her head for any of it. Why was this guy so special? Why was he so stuck in her mind? Piper didn't have any answers to these questions, but knew this - Oh, what a week this will be.

I’m Right Here (Owen Joyner x Fictional Character
Warnings: anxiety attack and self-deprecation A/N: Sorry this one took so long! The fictional character has been shamed for her anxiety from her parents. The experience of an anxiety attack is based on the ones I have. It’s different for everyone. Disclaimer: This is a FICITONAL writing piece! In no way do I claim characters in this piece act this way in real life.
Masterlist *now taking requests ;)
I’m Right Here
“Hey Jade! Wait up!” Jade was walking out of her trailer and on her way to her car, until she heard Owen call out for her. She paused and turned around to face the tall blonde, who stopped in front of her slightly out of breath. He bent slightly over his knees, catching his breath and still in costume.
“Aren’t you supposed to be filming a scene right now?” she cocked her eyebrow at him and rested a hand on her hip. They were on set filming for Julie and the Phantoms season 2, and Jade was brought in as a minor character as a part of Carrie’s posse. She didn’t have any major dialogues save the one or two quips her character had, so she was mostly there for the dance portions. That often meant she was able to leave set earlier or she had less days on set than others.
“Yeah, they’re setting up, but I wanted to catch you before heading out” Owen started to shift his weight from leg to leg and began to avoid eye contact. Jade felt butterflies in her stomach but immediately tried to suppress them, knowing that what she hoped was happening was probably not. She didn’t want to get her hopes up, only for them to be deflated. “You got any plans Tomorrow night?”
“Just snuggling with my dog and drinking wine while singing karaoke” she mentally facepalmed herself at her honesty. She just sealed the deal on being forever single. Owen fidgeted and the air between them became awkward, no thanks to Jade’s awkward confession.
“Listen, I was wondering, and you can totally say no, if you wanted to maybe go to dinner with me? That’s if dinner is something you do, not like eat, because I’m sure you eat dinner, but if you don’t I’m not judging you. I mean like dinner dinner, y’know?” the boy looked frazzled and a little desperate to stop his verbal diarrhea from making him look even stupider than he did in that current moment.
“Like a date?” Jade hoped she wasn’t being too forward, but then again, a girl had to know. Owen gave her a sheepish smile and a nod yes, instantly filling her with excitement. “YES! Uhm... I mean sound great. I’d totally love- i mean like to go on a date with you” she blushed furiously, hoping she didn’t sound too desperate or too excited.
“Great! I’ll pick you up at 7?” she nodded and he smiled turning around and jogging back to set. Jade felt like she could fly or bench press a bus. She always tried to deny having feelings for him, but whenever she was asked she would stumble over her words and everyone instantly knew. Savannah and Tori often teased her about her feelings and pushed her to ask him out, but she was too nervous. Correction, she was too afraid to be rejected.
Jade never thought of herself as anything more than a plain and ordinary girl who happened to be able to dance well. She wasn’t overly pretty but she wasn’t hideous either, and there were very little standout qualities. Most people described her as quiet, mousy with a pretty smile, but nothing ever more than that. She believed she got it from her family as they too were described similarly. Her mother was a dentist and her father worked at a law firm. She was an only child and they have always lived a comfortable life, so naturally Jade never had any interesting stories to tell. She was just your average plain Jane.
The drive back to her apartment was full of joy and she blasted the music in her car as she drove, singing along to every tune. She was extremely excited to go on this date and her enthusiasm carried on as she bounced to her apartment door and inside. Placing her keys on the counter by the door, she went to her closet to pick out the best outfit. Looking at the array of clothing, she picked out a few and sent them to her co-stars/best friends for their opinions. Unfortunately, they both had different ideas as to what she should wear that night.
Sav: go for something cute and conservative! Southern boys like all American girls!
Tori: go for something a little sexy Cali girl. Like I’m a good girl but I’m also capable of being bad too
Sav: for the first date? Idk...
Tori: Sav, do you really think Owen is only about them all American girls? He was the one talking about how peaches were a brilliant emojis for butts
Sav: point taken.
Sav: go for something that best represents you!
Jade: a paper bag?
Tori: really?
Tori: you are more than just a paper bag J
Sav: we gotta go, Kenny’s calling places. I’m sure what you’ll pick will be fine! Send us a pic!
Jade frowned that her friends couldn’t chat longer to help her, but she knew she had to do this on her own. After filing through clothing, she finally found something she liked but noticed that she had spent an hour picking an outfit. Owen would be by in two hours, meaning that she had to speed up her process if she didn’t want to feel rushed!
 She slipped stepping into the tub to take a shower, smashing her elbow on the towel bar. She quickly tried to rub the pain as she cursed under her breath. She had no time to be clumsy! She started her shower up and gracefully hopped in this time, hoping to avoid any further injury. After doing her daily hygiene routine, she applied the hair mask and wrapped it up in a shower cap, applying her face mask right after. She noticed that her legs felt the slightest bit fuzzy and cursed herself for not shaving in the shower. Quickly glazing at her phone for the time, she slathered on shaving cream and attempted to shave her leg using her bathroom counter, which was a mistake. She slipped, nicking her leg on the way down, bumping her head against the wall too.
“It’s fine, you’re fine, not a big deal Jade” she comforted herself. “Stick a Band-Aid on it and just wear jeans!”
She began to wash out the hair and facemask, making a mental note to patch herself up after. As she patted her face dry, she opened the medicine cabinet to grab a Band-Aid, when the lights shut off. Fumbling around for her phone, she quickly turned on the flashlight to find a Band-Aid and her bathrobe. Slipping on the robe, she made her way to the apartment breaker. Nothing had tripped on the breaker panel, but the power in her suite was completely shut off.
“That’s fine! You’ll just have to go with your natural curls instead of spicing things up with a straightener!” she could already feel the nauseous and claustrophobic feeling in her chest creep up on her, but she took a deep breath and closed her eyes. Now was not a good time for her to have an anxiety attack. She had an hour and fifteen minutes before Owen came. Plenty of time... right?
Making her way over to her closet, she began to look for another outfit that would look good with the jeans that she had picked out. She tried on top after top, but nothing seemed to fit right. Giving a huff in frustration, she sat on the bed to take a deep breath. She had to get going if she was going to have enough time to do her makeup, but it seemed like life had other plans. All of a sudden, the fire alarm in the complex went off, indicating that everyone was being asked to evacuate. She jumped at the noise and quickly threw on a sweater, grabbing her passport, wallet, documents and phone before exiting the building with the other residents.
It turned out to be a fire drill that was scheduled to happen last week, but Jade had completely forgotten about it. They all had to stand outside while the fire marshal cleared the building and checking the safety of it. By the time Jade had made her way back into the building and up to her suite, she had 30 minutes before Owen came over. She hated the outfit she was wearing, her hair was a mess due to the wind outside and she had no makeup on!
The feeling in her chest increased gradually as she rushed around the house, doing her best to multitask. The power came back on when she entered the suite, so she tried straightening her hair as the curls were a mess, but she underestimated her multitasking skills. She burnt herself multiple times as she tried to do her makeup and hair at the same time. It didn’t help that the bottom half of her hair was straight and the bottom half wasn’t, and her eyeliner was uneven. Looking at herself in the mirror stressed her out even more, so she washed her face and decided to restart. The alarm on her phone notified her that Owen would be at the door in 5 minutes, and that’s when everything bubbled over. Looking at her messy face, half done hair, wet shirt and jeans, she sniffled until the tears welled over. She sank to the bathroom floor feeling like an idiot. No normal person would be this upset over their appearance, so why was she? Would Owen think she was weird because of this? Would he even want to go out with her? Her breathing increased and she started to feel her ensuite close in on her, signaling a full blown anxiety attack.
Jade wasn’t comfortable talking about her anxiety. Her parents often made her feel like she was overreacting or seeking attention whenever they happened, but they never understood that if Jade had the choice, these things wouldn’t get to her. This feeling that you need to escape, but you don’t have the energy so you’re just a buzzing ball sitting in a deep dark hole. She would often cry during her attacks, ashamed that she lost control and ashamed that she got to this place. Her friends would tell her to seek professional help for it, but she waved them off knowing that if she did see someone, it would make things worse between her and her parents. She loved them a lot and often sought for their approval, and doing this would work against the hard work she put in to make them proud.
“Jade?...unlocked...hope that’s okay?... helloo?....dead?.... Jade?”
“Jade? Hey... Hey you’re okay...”
“Jade? It’s Owen.”
“Squeeze my hand if you hear me”
“Okay good. I want you to breathe with me”
“You’re doing great”
“That’s it”
“Breathe in for five, out for five”
“In five”
“Out five”
The murkiness of the voice became clearer and clearer as she regained control of her breathing. She began to feel a warmth enveloping her and holding her firmly. She wasn’t in the bathroom anymore but rather on the sofa in her living room with the balcony door open, letting in a cool breeze.
“Jade?” She focused her attention on the blonde boy who sat beside her, his arm currently wrapped around her and the other holding her hand. “Hey” his smile was warm and understanding, but Jade couldn’t help the tears that came to her eyes. Seeing this, Owen knew immediately what was happening. Before the apology left her lips, Owen had already began to speak.
 “You have nothing to apologize for... Is this the first time?” She bowed her head sadly, wiping away the tears and shaking her head no. In this moment, she felt like a little kid getting into trouble, bracing herself for the disappointment she caused.
“Listen, I know how you feel. Your anxiety? Your panic? I feel it every day. You don’t have to be ashamed in front of me. Hell, you shouldn’t have to feel ashamed in front of anyone. Everyone goes through this right? Well obviously, in their own ways and not like you and me, but I think you get the point” his rant elicited a small chuckle from the girl. “Want to talk about it?”
Jade nodded her head, feeling comfortable around him. She recounted her struggles since getting home to the razor to the power to the fire drill up until their current moment. Owen was silent and attentive the entire time, hanging on to every word that came from her mouth.
“I mean, I’m flattered that you put in all this work to go on a date with me, but seriously, and I’m not saying this to like get on your good side or anything, but you don’t need all the makeup and stuff. You’re pretty pretty on your own” she smiled at his comment, grateful for the compliment as it made her feel better.
“Thanks, I’m sorry I ruined our date” he scoffed and shook his head, moving to the kitchen counter picking up the flowers he had brought for her.
“I was going to give these to you at the door, but seeing as the plans have changed, you should probably take them and put them in some water?” she blushed at the gesture and took them gratefully from him. As she puttered around the kitchen for some sort of vase, he tapped away on his phone. “Do you like pizza?”
“Owen, I LOVE pizza” he grinned back at her and tapped a couple more times on his phone. “What are you doing?”
“Bringing date night to us.” he replied simply, locking his screen and plopping down on the couch, clicking through the apps on the TV. “Alright, so you’re gonna show me your favorite musical and I will show you mine”
Jade thought that in order to make a good impression on a first date, you had to look perfect. Owen that night helped her see that when two people like each other, Pizza and Musicals are all you need on a first date.

Hey Princess - Owen Joyner x Actress!Reader
Tumblr media
JATP masterlist
Warnings: suggestive comment at the end, very mild overall though
Words: 1349
Summary: Dating a Netflix star can be tough in the way of getting recognized in public, but being a Disney Princess just may give Owen a run for his money.
A/N: I’m alive! I’ve found I can still be productive in writing if I just write fics with whomever I’m currently obsessed about and then just alter the person in editing to be someone that my blog is actually dedicated to. This is now an Owen fic but it wasn't originally, so if you catch any slip ups from that I’m so sorry. I tried proofing for them but I’ve been working on this fic for like three hours and I just want to post it already lol. hope yall enjoy!
A fruit smoothie. All week I have been craving a fruit smoothie, but because I’ve been in the recording studio all day everyday, I’ve had to eliminate dairy from my diet completely. I’m recording songs from the upcoming sequel to my Disney movie “Cassie and The Prince”; a half-animated, half-live action Enchanted style movie, in which I play Cassie, the cautious and delicate wallflower-princess whose best friend is a grey rabbit. ‘The Prince’ aka Prince Oliver, who is voiced by Tom Holland, is the rambunctious, rifting presence in her life that gets her to live a little. This week, the two of us have been recording vocals for a duet that the characters share at the beginning of the movie; and day in day out singing equals ‘it’s better to not risk it’ with foods that affect your vocal sound and ability. We eventually wrapped up the song and the arrival of the weekend means I can finally fulfill my smoothie craving.
My supportive as ever boyfriend, Owen, accompanied me in getting my smoothie, figuring we could make a date out of the outing. As we enter the small shop on the outside of our usual mall, Owen and I breathe a little easier to see we’re the only ones in the shop. When you’re a Disney Princess and a Nickelodeon child-star together, at least one of you will be recognized in public at any time. However, it’s hard to be recognized by people that aren’t around. I give Owen my order (although I’m sure he already has it memorized), spewing the information at him as quickly but coherently as I can, as I have to use the bathroom super urgently. Owen assures me he’s got it and ushers me away to finally use the restroom.
Once I finish, I look at myself in the mirror and gasp aloud at the realization that, in my hurried state, I forgot to tell Owen I wanted a vitamin boost in my drink. With a pouty bottom lip and a melodramatic sadness in my eyes, I exit the smoothie shop’s bathroom, and approach my boyfriend who’s sitting on a bar stool that’s facing outside the store window. I begin to whine because of my own slip up,
“I had to pee so bad I forgot to tell you I wanted the vitamin boost in my drink!” He chuckles as he pulls out the adjacent stool, patting it for me to sit on,
“Good thing I ordered it for you.”
“You did?!”
“Mhm.”
“Ah! What would I do without you?”
“Not have a vitamin boost probably.” The quip makes me laugh lightly and Owen smiles upon hearing my laugh. I open my mouth to ask him another question but my voice is caught in my throat when a tiny squeal interrupts the mechanical sounds of the smoothie shop.
Looking to the source of the noise, I spot a young girl who can’t be any older than pre-school age with her mouth open in a gaping-smile. Her tiny brown eyes glitter with pure shock upon seeing me look at her. I can’t help but smile at her excitement and look at Owen who is trying very hard to conceal a smile of his own.
“Princess Cassie! Mom, look! It’s Princess Cassie!” The girl tugs on her mothers hand to grab her attention before pointing in my direction and I grin at the mother to ease her previously startled demeanor. Her face morphs from confusion to a smile of disbelief.
“Oh my goodness, you’re real!” I laugh lightly at the woman’s joke before turning my attention back to the little girl who can hardly contain herself.
“Hi sweetheart. What’s your name?”
“Lucy.” I bend down to her level to both hear her and to let her know she has my attention.
“Lucy! What a pretty name. That sounds like a princess name, are you a princess, too?”
“Well, sometimes.”
“Sometimes? Me too. How old are you, Lucy?”
“Four- Also, I saw you in the mall yesterday,” responds, clearly not interested in talking about herself at the moment.
“You saw me in the mall?”
“The poster for Cassie and The Prince is in the window of the Disney store,” her mother clarifies, as the ramblings of four year olds can be incoherent at times.
“Ah, gotcha.”
“And, also, you were on the tv there, too, singing ‘Be Free’ with all the animals and Prince Oliver.”
“‘Be Free’ is a fun song. Is that your favorite song from the movie?”
“No. I like ‘Today Of All Days’ when you teach the prince how to talk to Bindi the Bunny,” Owen and I still haven’t gone public with our relationship, so I honored him in naming the Princess’s animal sidekick after his own real-life animal sidekick “What happened to your hair?”
“Oh, Lucy!” Her mother scolds the bluntness of her daughter’s question. My hair is up off my face today, and nowhere near the length of the extensions hair and makeup put me into, so the contrast is notably different.
“It’s okay. I had to cut some of it off because it was getting too heavy.”
“Order for Owen!” The one-man-cashier-barista calls from behind the counter, setting down the two smoothies Owen had ordered not just five minutes ago. The mother clocks Owen--the unfamiliar man I’d been talking to earlier--rising to grab the two drinks and leans down to speak to Lucy.
“Baby, we should let Princess Cassie go, I’m sure she has things to do today.”
“Can we take a picture?”
“You have to ask her for a picture, not me.”
“Can we take a picture with you?”
“Of course, honey.” I squat down to be closer in height with the small girl before beckoning her over. “Is it okay if I hug you for the picture?” I ask to which she nods yes and wraps me in a tight hug, pressing her tiny cheek against my face. Her mom snaps the picture on her white iPhone 12, using her index finger to do so. After, she motions for her daughter to come view the picture, and once Lucy’s attention is centered on the picture, she mouths a silent ‘thank you’ to me; I break character to wave off the complimentary closing and, miraculously, gracefully rise from the floor. When I’m back to full height, I take my smoothie from Owen’s extended hand, smiling at the fact that he took the liberty to unwrap ¾ of the straw like a restaurant would.
“Thank you, kind sir.” Owen steps in front of me to hold the door open, and with a wave, I give Lucy a final goodbye. As the two of us begin walking back to his car, I don’t miss the indiscernible smile he’s giving me. “What?” He shrugs nonchalantly,
“Nothing.”
“Whaaat?” He then shakes his head in partial amusement, partial disbelief.
“I can’t believe I’m dating an actual disney princess.”
“I’m just glad she didn’t ask me to sing.” Owen barks a laugh as he nearly chokes on a sip of his smoothie.
“Has that happened before?”
“Oh, baby,” I puff out of exasperation just thinking about it, “You would not believe.”
“Did you?”
“Yes! I’m not gonna crush a little girl’s dreams just because my voice is cold. Would you refuse to throw a drumstick to a kid in the crowd of a concert if your arm was sore?”
“This isn’t about me, Princess Cassie.” I roll my eyes as I slip into the passenger seat of Owen’s car. Once buckled, I pull the remaining straw paper off my straw and at the first taste of the fruit smoothie hitting my tongue, I let out a groan at the satisfaction of what had been a week-long craving in the making.
“God, if I’d known a smoothie was all it’d take to get that kind of reaction out of you, I would’ve brought you here ages ago,” Owen jeers from the driver’s side. I playfully shove his shoulder which doesn’t do much in the way of inconveniencing the tall drummer.
“That’s no way to talk to a princess!”

Here With You | Owen Joyner x Reader
A/N: I interrupt this broadcast with an Owen Request where the reader and Owen are straight vibing but not able to get together as easily as they and the cast would like. It’s almost 5k of pure fluff and that’s so on brand for me. Enjoy xx
Word count: 4.7k
Warnings: swearing, typos, flooooof
|||||
Madi was absolutely gobsmacked. It’s only been a week, but already you’ve managed to make her break character an embarrassing amount of times. Charlie and Jeremy couldn’t agree more when Madi shared this realization. Whenever they’re filming with you, they have to mentally prepare in hopes that they won’t laugh but they know it’s inevitable.
Season 3 of JATP allowed the directors to have way more creativity with introducing characters such as yourself. You were set to play a new member of Dirty Candy because the new season called for more analysis and character development of the popular girl group. Kenny welcomed you, and you were floored when you stepped on set your first day.
Savannah, Tori, and the other Dirty Candy girls made you feel comfortable quickly which, frankly, was relieving. All of you hung out during your first week at Savannah’s apartment, enjoying drinks and games; you got to really know the girls. By the end of the week, Savannah was comfortable yelling at you for messing around during a scene and you were comfortable messing with her costume any chance you got.
When you had scenes with the leads of the show, you were a little more apprehensive. You never got the chance to meet them before your scene with them and so you put on a more serious front when filming. But when Owen wanted to hide Charlie’s hydroflask, you subtly held out your hand and hid the water bottle behind your back. Owen gave you a grateful nod, but regretted it as soon as Charlie accused him of his crime and put the poor blonde into a headlock before you revealed his precious water bottle. Charlie and Jeremy jokingly said they would keep an eye on you while Owen gave you a hi-five. And with Madi, you easily developed a friendship when she saw you sneak some snacks between scenes, and you bonded over your munchy habits. Over time, they realized just how much they looked forward to filming with your character as you revealed more of yourself and your fun personality. It was never a dull moment with you.
One day, even though you had the day off, you visited the set. They were filming some scenes with just Madi and the guys. Owen often found himself talking to you instead of the other guys when they had breaks, and Madi acutely noticed that. When she saw the two of you doubled over in laughter, she realized that you had a knack for making others laugh and smile with ease, just like Owen. Honestly, you’ve probably made all of them break character more often than Owen has done in the past two seasons - a feat not so easily achieved. Even without your quick wit and impeccable humor, Madi always loved how warm and welcoming you were now that you were comfortable with the whole cast. Again, Charlie and Jeremy shared her sentiment. All three of them especially knew that Owen definitely appreciated their new cast member.
The drummer was enthralled by you. From the first sly smirk you offered him when he handed you Charlie’s water bottle, he knew he was hooked. He thought it was so adorable how you would make weird noises or intensely scrunched your nose whenever you fucked up a line. Then he thought you were such a wonderful force whenever you perfectly executed a scene. Every little mannerism or lilt in your voice fit your character to a tee, and Owen was in awe of your talent. But when you started to crack jokes or make fun of the guys for slipping up? Oh, he was a goner. Soon, the pair of you would bounce back and forth whenever you had the chance to improvise or fuck around.
And once Madi shared these observations with Savannah, they both tried their best to get their friends together. Keyword tried.
“Okay, I don’t know how much longer I can nudge Y/N into Owen before I explode,” Savannah huffs.
“Oh my god, same. If Owen doesn’t ask her out, I will be livid,” Madi replies with an eye roll. Jadah just shakes her head in disappointment.
The trio of girls all watch on as their oblivious friends have fun on the dance floor of the wrap party. It was clear that you both were in your own world amongst the partygoers, serenading to each other and dancing goofily. When Taylor Swift’s voice echoes through the room, Madi drops her head with a sigh when she sees you grab Owen’s arm in excitement.
“This would be so much cuter if they were together,” Savannah pouts as they observe the two of you jumping around.
You didn’t have a clue what Savannah, Jadah, and Madison were talking about because you were too busy having the time of your life with Owen. You couldn’t even hear the lyrics coming out of Owen’s mouth as he was so breathless from jumping around - you probably sound the exact same.
“Y/N, YOU ARE SO GOOD AT DANCING,” Owen yells with glee, imitating your ridiculous moves.
Even though your clothes were starting to stick to you from the sweat, your throat was raw from singing, and your feet absolutely killed, there was nowhere else you’d rather be. As soon as you arrived fashionably late, Owen immediately found you - how could he not when you always lit up the room and looked absolutely stunning. Owen had stuck by your side throughout the whole party, never being more than an arm’s length away. You didn’t notice that you never strayed away from him either, subconsciously always staying within his reach. It was like you were magnets, always drawn to each other no matter how far apart you were.
And when you started dancing, oh buddy. At first, the whole cast was dancing together, celebrating like crazy. Charlie was messing with everybody and goofing around while everyone else was vibing and having a good time. Soon, it was just a few of you dancing in your own little worlds. You didn’t know it, but Owen was usually one of the first people to leave the dance floor, always wanting to just watch instead of embarrass himself. You figured that he stuck by your side because now he was great at dancing as per Kenny Ortega, but Owen knows that it’s because of you. You had him wrapped around your finger. Sure, he was tired and he was honestly still a little iffy about dancing, but when you smile at him like that, he was rooted to the dance floor.
“Alright Joyner, I gotta go to the bathroom. You should go get something to drink after all that ‘dancing’,” you sigh, smirking when he laughed at your air quotes. You felt your feet screaming at you to take a break and couldn’t ignore them any longer.
“Fine, do you want something too?”
“Yes please!” You turn around and walk to the bathroom, passing the girls. Savannah almost gags at how obvious Owen was just staring at your ass as you walk away from him. She and the other girls follow you to the bathroom.
“Hey girl, having fun?” You just stepped up to the sink when your friends walk into the bathroom, joining you at the mirror and fixing up their outfits.
“I’m having a great time, you?” All the girls let out noises of agreements, and you miss their shared looks when you wash your hands.
“Looks like you were having the time of your life with Owen out there,” Madi teases. Jadah chuckles while checking on her makeup.
“I know what you guys are doing,” you retort, ignoring Madi’s quip, “it’s the wrap party and I’m enjoying all the time I have left with every one of y’all before we go our separate ways.”
You knew exactly what Madison was implying, but didn’t want to entertain any idea. Sure, you were closer to Owen than the other guys, but you didn’t want to get distracted by him or the idea of a relationship while you were filming...although, you guess that isn’t the case anymore. Regardless, you wanted to get away from their nosey tendencies.
When you and the girls leave the bathroom, you all go your separate ways. Immediately, your eyes search for the tall blonde boy, almost like they recognize that it’s been too long since they’ve been away from their companion blue eyes. When they do find Owen, you freeze on your spot, entranced by the scene in front of you. The way his smile lit up under the dim lights, how his hair fell through the fingers that ran through them, the way he took up the space around him and filled it with happiness and laughter....
It all became too much for your heart to handle. For weeks you’ve tried to suppress any inkling of romantic feelings for your co-star, but it’s useless. You bonded with Owen on so many levels and loved every second you spent with him. From laughs on set to deep late-night/early-morning talks after work, you loved every word that came out of his mouth and every time his eyes met yours. When his eyes finally meet yours across the room, the only word that flows through your head is fool - fool for believing that you could resist your feelings.
“I didn’t know if you wanted a real drink or water, but after our stellar Taylor Swift jam sesh, figured you needed to rehydrate,” Owen says as he hands you water. He shakes his head when you take several gulps of the drink and then give him a breathless thanks.
“I gotta ask,” Owen starts, watching you sip at your drink now that you feel better, “what’s with girls going to the bathroom together?”
“Oh, that? That’s just a thing you do, I don’t know,” you wonder, not really questioning this normal habit, “it’s our time to regroup and just talk I guess...I really don’t know!” You laugh when Owen lets out a little huff at your vague answer.
“Y’all talk about girl things like boys and clothes and stuff?” You wish you could snap at his archaic assumption, but you couldn’t because he was right. Instead, you stay silent, not letting him have the satisfaction of being right - he still laughs anyways.
“Speaking of boys, I heard Danny, one of the dancers, talking about you,” Owen informs you, idly pushing his straw around his drink.
“Oh?” You try not to overanalyze his subtle actions, but you hoped that the way he draws his lips into a tight line and stiffly nods might point signs towards something useful.
“Overheard him saying he might ask you out or something,” Owen takes a generous gulp of his drink, wincing at the burn of it, “would you go out with him?”
Owen scolds himself for asking that question because 1) that’s none of his business and 2) he’s subjecting himself to rejection if your answer is yes. But he just needs to know and patience was in short supply tonight.
“Nah, he’s not my type,” you answer. As close as you were observing your friend, you somehow miss how his chest slightly deflated with relief.
“And what’s your type?” Owen asks, trying not to sound so eager.
“Well,” you say slowly, thinking over your answer, “I don’t really care about looks really, but obviously he has to be kind. No assholes for me. And he’s gotta be passionate or ambitious. And he’s gotta be funny, but not funnier than me.”
“Guess I’m not an option then,” he jokes as soon as those words leave your mouth. Unsurprised by his quick wit, you retort back just as fast. You try not to stutter through your words as a result from his flirty comment.
“Don’t think of yourself too highly, Joyner. I’m way funnier than you so I think you would do just fine.” You’re surprised when he responds with a noncommittal noise instead of a sharp retort.
“So I guess I am an option?” Your eyes snap up at him and find him looking down at you with an unreadable expression. Not able to pinpoint his feelings through his expression, you quickly pick apart his question, trying to find any hint of a joke in his tone but finding none. If anything, you only find that the space between you two had significantly shortened; now you’re only a breath apart.
“Would you like to be one?” You ask with your eyes switching back and forth between his own, gauging his reaction at the question you throw back at him. Your lips were sensitive to the cold water you were sipping from how you started to chew through them. You almost choked on your next sip when Owen lifts a hand up to move a piece of hair out of your face with a trance-like expression. You knew that he was choosing his next words carefully as you both put your hearts out on the line. You could only wish to know what was going on under that gorgeous golden hair.
You felt like time stopped when Owen opened his mouth but felt it continue when you’re abruptly interrupted by Charlie’s loud shouts.
“Owen! Get over here! We’re gonna do the lift thing!” Charlie tugs at the arm that dropped from your face and Owen almost topples over from it. He couldn’t even spit out another word before Charlie drags him to the floor; he could only send you an apologetic glance. You wanted to throttle Charlie for taking Owen away, but you could never truly stay mad at the Canadian firecracker who was yelling at Owen to jump. Your serious conversation was put on the backburner as the boys somehow successfully do the lift. Sending a wave to a flying Owen, you find the girls and hang out with them for the rest of the night. They kept you busy, wanting to soak up all the time you had left with each other. By the time everyone was saying their goodbyes, you just met up with Owen again.
“I hoped you had a good night tonight,” Owen comments when you’re finally by his side, gathering your things.
“I did! It was so much fun. But I think my favorite part was dancing with you,” you admit. The drinks you shared with the girls loosened your tongue and you wanted to just blurt out everything and anything to Owen. Glancing behind Owen, you see that Savannah and Tori are waiting for you by the Uber and wiggling their eyebrows. You roll your eyes at them and try to gesture to them to fuck off, but Owen grabs your attention again.
“Listen,” he starts, fiddling with the buttons of his shirt.
“Yeah?” You look up at him through your lashes and Owen swears that his heart stops for just a second. Now that he finally has you close again after hours of fucking around with the guys, he was struck again with how utterly beautiful you are.
“I-”
“C’mon Y/N! The uber’s waiting!” You both turn to see Savannah hurriedly wave you over with Tori already in the car.
“Coming!” You yell back before turning back to the blonde. You try not to stare at the small exposed area of his chest as he picks at his buttons. Hoping that you finally get to talk about earlier, you look up at him when Savannah calls for you again.
“I,” he sighs before repeating his earlier gesture of moving a piece of hair out of your face, “I hope you get home safely.”
“Thanks Owen,” you sigh, hiding your disappointment.
“Good night, Y/N.”
You thank the higher power that you didn’t have to deal with your girlfriends’ knowing glances or teasing after tonight, but you curse the same power now that you won’t be seeing your favorite person anymore.
-
Honestly, Owen wasn’t surprised that he hadn’t heard much from you since wrapping the third season. Everyone was auditioning for roles, hanging out with friends and family,  or devoting time to their own projects. Owen knew that you were participating in pilot season and very busy doing audition after audition. Not wanting to bother or distract you too much, he never brought up your conversation from the wrap party. Instead, he would send you encouraging texts whenever you sent quick updates throughout your time apart.
Sometimes he was lucky and got to facetime you whenever you decided to call him. He could act all embarrassed and admit that he would literally drop everything to answer your call, but he knows that Charlie, Jeremy, or Madi would never let him live it down. Heaven forbid Savannah gets wind of his eagerness to hear your voice or else he would have to deal with his old friend yelling at him again.
“Yeah I feel good about that audition, but you never know!” Your beautiful voice cuts in and out of his phone during one of your few calls and Owen silently swears at his apartment’s crappy wifi. Nonetheless, he’s not too mad when the screen freezes on your face, but he doesn’t tell you that.
“I keep saying you’re a great actor Y/N. You’ll get the part,” he offers sweetly and you scrunch your nose at his praise. He couldn’t resist taking a screenshot. You demand that he deletes the photo, but he loves it too much to listen to you.
“Are you ready to see my beautiful face next week?” Owen asks, flipping his hair dramatically.
“I’m absolutely dreading it. Can I ask them to delay the press junket another week?” You joke, laughing when he scoffs.
“Don’t lie to me Y/N! You can’t wait to see my face!” He yells, pointing at the screen with a determined look.
“I’m already looking at your face, dummy.”
“You know what I mean!”
“Yeah, yeah, I guess I’m excited,” you finally concede. You sigh when he smirks, not believing that you get to see that smile in just four days. It’s like your body knows that it’s going to be by Owen soon - your chest feels lighter, heart feels less lonely, and you feel yourself smiling to yourself more often than before. Like right now, you’re smiling when you wish Owen goodbye on the phone, knowing that that will be the last times you’ll be talking to him through a screen.
-
“I’m going to have you three do some quickfire questions to wrap up, is that alright?”
You and Owen eagerly agree to the interviewer’s idea. So far, you’ve done interviews with Savannah and Jadah while Booboo and Sacha were together for their own interviews and the JATP leads were together for theirs. The whole morning consisted of the three of you letting the interviewer know about your roles and having a great time with your girls after being so long without them.
After a quick lunch break where you caught up with the rest of the cast a little bit more, you were randomly broken up into three groups for interviews. You were paired with Savannah and Owen which both excited you and filled you with uncertainty at the sight of Savannah’s mischievous smirk. So far, it wasn’t that bad - all three of you were bouncing off each other like you usually did with an occasional comment about you and Owen by none other than Savannah.
“Out of the three of you, who was the better dancer?”
“Savannah,” you and Owen answer simultaneously. Savannah says my name but I brush her off because she is a phenomenal dancer.
“The best at crying on demand?”
“Y/N!”
“Me for sure. I had to cry almost three times in just one episode. All I gotta do is think about Owen’s face and the tears just come in so fast.” Everyone laughs at Owen’s loud protest, including Owen himself.
“Okay, moving on! Goofs off the most?”
“Owen!”
“The amount of pranks that you and Charlie did was insane,” Savannah rolls her eyes and we both wince as we look back at all the shenanigans the pair of boys did.
“In my defense, Charlie was the one that came up with them,” Owen throws up his hands and you swat them down.
“Doesn’t matter dummy!” Savannah throws a look over at you, which she had been doing whenever you and Owen would banter during the interview. The interviewer loves all of it though and keeps encouraging it with glee.
“And finally, who was the funniest?”
“Me.”
“Me!”
Savannah throws a hand over her mouth to cover the laughter just wanting to burst out at the sight of yours and Owen’s matching shocked expressions. Owen couldn’t believe that you didn’t say his name and you couldn’t believe that he didn’t say your name. Both Savannah and the interviewer were eating this up.
“I was the funniest!” I say incredulously, trying to stop the smile emerging on my face. I saw Owen’s mouth quirk up a little too, knowing that we both weren’t actually insulted and about to have so much fun with this.
“Oh please, I had Charlie and Jeremy laughing all the time,” he throws his arm around the back of your chair with an air of mock superiority.
“That’s nothing! They’re always messing around,” you argue, “Savannah! Who is it?”
The both of you turn to your co-star who looked so amused. She looked like she was watching an episode of a reality tv-show, and she was having a blast.
“Even though you are one of my best friends, Owen, I think Y/N was the funniest. This was her first time on the show and she had us all dying from the start,” Savannah answers. She sends an apologetic look to the pouting blonde while you throw your arms up in victory.
“I can’t wait to tell the others about this,” Savannah tells the interviewer who was giving you a high-five.
“Hey don’t give her a high-five! She’s a meanie,” Owen yells before crossing his arms.
“Aw, don’t be a sore loser. I told you I was funnier than you,” you pat his shoulder before offering him a real smile. His mouth quirks up again, not able to hold the pout for long when you got that twinkling in your eyes.
“Well, that was so much fun guys, and I can’t wait to see season 3 of JATP!” The interviewer says some more closing statements before leaving the room. Savannah immediately walks over to the other interviews in hopes of catching your co-stars in action but not before sending you a wink. You’re left alone with Owen, something that hasn’t happened since the wrap party last year.
Being in the same room again caused all of your feelings for Owen to resurface like a tidal wave. Even though it’s been less than half a year, you felt like he had changed a little bit. He’s gotten a little bit of facial hair which you didn’t mind at all. And was that a new cologne? Maybe he got taller too, or maybe you’d just forgotten the height difference. It was all too much and it reminded you of that instance at the wrap party when you walked out of the bathroom and was awestruck by Owen’s beauty. And just like how you realized you couldn’t resist denying your feelings for him, you do the same again. You realize how much stronger your feelings were now.
You thought you were insane when the L-word popped into your head the last time you called Owen (which was only a few days ago). It’s been months since you’ve seen him last and you’ve barely talked to him since - well, does once a week count as barely? Honestly, it didn’t feel like you saw his face or hear his voice enough during the months away from each other. At least the two of you texted each other frequently - almost to the point where you had to scroll for a good minute before you see the texts from the day before...okay maybe you did talk to Owen more than you thought (since you clearly can’t stay away from him). And maybe, you may have fallen more for your co-star through your calls and texts. And maybe, definitely, you actually should consider the L-word more seriously now that your heart feels like it will burst out of your chest now that you’re physically with him.
“It’s nice to finally see you in person instead of a screen,” Owen says as the both of you sit in the small room, “I don’t miss the constant roast sessions though.”
“Deal with it, honey. You can’t get the girl without the jokes,” you say leaning back in your chair. You forget that he had his arm running across the back of it and he doesn’t move it. Instead, he idly plays with the details of your shirt. Your heart starts to beat a little faster as you realize how close you two are to each other.
“Wouldn’t want it any other way.” You dip your head at his comment, trying to stop the heat rushing up to your face. That L-word is seriously sounding more real with every second that his hand is on you. He stops playing with your shirt and opts to just rest a comforting hand on your back. You shiver at the warmth radiating from him, but welcome his familiar touch.
No trace of humor appeared on Owen’s face; only a soft look that flitted over your face, remembering all the little details that he had woefully forgotten in the past few months. He prayed that Savannah or another interviewer wouldn’t return for a while so that he could snatch more precious time with you and only you.
“Remember the wrap party when we were talking about your type of guy?” He says with a wistful tone. You silently nod, your throat too dry to verbally answer his question.
“Am I still an option?”
It was weird. You remember being so nervous the first time he asked that question - so nervous that you threw the question back at him. Now though, there were less nerves and more confidence in yourself. At that moment, you realize that you’re tired of tiptoeing around all of this. Sitting here with him, you realize that there was literally no other place you would rather be - you tried to be away from him, but it, to so elegantly put it, fucking sucked. Realizing how awful these past months were without him and how absolutely shit you were at resisting him and your feelings, you wanted to put a stop to all of it and here Owen was presenting the perfect opportunity to do so.
“How would you like to be the only option?”
“I think I would like that very much.”
Without skipping a beat, Owen wraps his arm around you and brings you closer to him while simultaneously leaning forward. His lips meet yours for a sweet kiss that was embarrassingly overdue. Though you were eager to finally kiss him after dreaming about it for so long, you were perfectly content in savoring this moment with him. You want to kick yourself in the head for not doing this at the wrap party because you could’ve experienced this euphoric feeling a lot sooner. When he pulls away, you almost follow him, not wanting to stop feeling his soft lips on yours. You were on cloud-9 with only his firm hand on your back to keep you grounded.
“Are you fucking kidding me?” You both whip around to see every single one of your cast members staring at you with mixed expressions of shock, anger, and happiness.
“Were you guys just...watching...us...kiss?” You ask awkwardly.
“Yeah! And it’s about damn time too!” Savannah said with some of the guys and Madi backing her up. You and Owen let Savannah rant about how it was insulting that the two of you got together when that’s what everyone’s been trying to do for months.
As much as you wanted to wrap your friends into a tight hug for all of their efforts, you couldn’t be bothered to move from your spot. With Owen’s hand in yours and a smile to match his, you truly realize that there was nowhere else you’d rather be.

Tumblr media
“I cannot believe I let you talk me into this.”
“C’mon Owen it’ll be fun,” Charlie says, excitement pouring from him like a golden retriever puppy. Owen sighs at his best friend before looking at the rest of his friends behind Charlie.
“Yeah, Owen, we’re only young once. And y’all only get Jadah and I unsupervised once in a blue moon, we have to appreciate that time.” The cast laughs as Madi smiles wide, probably more excited about this proclaimed ‘dare night’ than it’s creator. Speaking of...
“Listen, I already have the dare’s written up and I know you hate to waste paper.” Charlie’s practically pouting now, so Owen really can’t say no to that.
“Fine, let’s get this over with.” Everyone cheers as the final member takes his place around the kitchen island. The cast, minus Cheyenne of course because he’s “too old to partake in this. It’s a teens only event.” “We’re in our twenties Charlie.” “SEMANTICS!”,  are gathered in Owen and Charlie’s apartment around their kitchen island, all waiting for their teams and dare card.
“The rules are simple, boys versus girls. Then you each split into teams of two -”
“But there’s an uneven amount on each team. Five against five.” Jadah points out, smiling at Charlie's small ‘shit’ and long sigh. He thinks for a minute before a metaphorical light bulb goes off above his head and he’s smiling again.
“Then a boy and girl will have to be together. Just split the points at the end.” Satisfied with the idea, everyone nods. No one misses the way Jeremy and Carolynn smile at each other.
“Now, you all have phones, you have to document one of you completing the dares either with a photo or a video. After the first dare is complete, you’ll get the second one. I’ve asked strangers around where your dare takes place to give you the next ones. They were very accommodating and are very excited to see y’all. We’ll all meet back here at midnight. Team that gets the most points, wins.” Charlie is practically vibrating by the time he’s finished, proud of his little game he put together and that everyone is just as excited as he is, well, minus Owen of course. But that’s because he’s nervous about doing unknown dares in public. Sure he puts on this face of being quirky and cool and fun, doesn’t mean some things don’t scare him.
“So everyone, pick your partners, pick your card, and let the dares begin!” Madison and Jadah immediately jump for each other, Carolynn and Jeremy grabbing hands before Charlie is even done speaking. Savannah and Tori high give, Sacha and BooBoo look at each other and shrug, assuming the wonder twins will want to stick together. Everyone is shocked though when Charlie bounces over to Sacha and slings his arm around his shoulders, shooting Owen an apologetic look in the process.
“Sorry bro, but I think we both know if we go at this together we’ll get nothing done and, I’d kinda like the boys to win.” Madi covers her mouth and the confession while the rest laugh. Owen groans and then goes red when BooBoo shoots him a look.
“That was rude! I’m glad to be your partner BooBoo don’t get me wrong. Seriously, so excited.” Owen begins to panic and is set to keep babbling before BooBoo laughs and lightly punches Owen’s shoulder.
“Relax dude, let’s go kick some dare ass!” Everyone cheers and grabs a card off the table before rushing out the door to their respective vehicles, Madi managing to borrow her dad’s car for the night, thanking God that she passed her road test before season 2 started.
“So, what dare did we get?” Owen asks when he and BooBoo reach the car. He starts it up while BooBoo rips open the envelope.
“We...ooh no.” He starts to giggle before he can even finish. Owen can feel his heart start to race.
“Oh no, what’d we get?”
“Hehe we, ha, we have to return some clothes...” Owen let’s out a sigh of relief.
“That’s not too bad.”
“While wearing them,” BooBoo finishes. Owen freezes.
“Excuse me!?” BooBoo breaks into a loud laugh at Owen’s shock, handing him the card in the process. “No way! Is Charlie insane?” What the hell was he thinking? What if someone recognizes him while he’s taking off a shirt to return it? Wait, why is he the one doing the returning?
“No. Nope. No way, we lose this point. What’s the next one?” BooBoo is still laughing as he shakes his head.
“You heard Charlie, we only get the next one if we complete this one.” Owen groans, accepting his fate.
“I can’t believe we’re doing this.”
“Believe it drummer boy. Especially since you’re gonna be the one doing it.” Owen whips his head towards BooBoo, almost breaking his neck in the process.
“No way. Dude, no. Way.” Owen is ready to get on his knees and beg.
“Um, well, the sizes are on the card and they match you,” BooBoo says, watching Owen begin to pout and accept his fate. BooBoo would feel bad if he didn’t think this was going to be a hilarious night. “C’mon, get driving.” Owen groans once more before driving away, accepting his fate that this night will be a wreck.
~ ~ ~
Shopping alone is boring.
Y/N asked friends, obviously, but they were all busy doing something or someone, so she was left alone to shop for christmas gifts. Sure it’s early, like, two months early, but she learned a long time ago that when you live alone as a young adult, living paycheck to paycheck, it's best to shop for gifts in increments and not all at once near christmas time. So here she is, shopping alone in a mall near the stores closing times because that’s the only time she can spare.
It’s not all bad, late night shopping means not a lot of people in the mall and those who are here are strung out college kids like here. Sure there have been some creepy guys eyeing her up and down, but when she felt those looks she made it clear to go to a store that had security in front of it, even if that meant staring longingly and things she can’t afford.
Y/N’s about half an hour into shopping for her niece and nephew when she hears a commotion on the other side of the clothing store. She quickly glances over then looks back to the shirt she was admiring, before realizing what she saw couldn’t be quite right. She looks over again, and holy shit, her eyes weren’t deceiving her. There really is a guy at the cash register shirtless and in the middle of taking his pants off.
Y/N takes back her previous statement, shopping alone is so not boring.
It’s then she notices a security guard enter the store, hand on the walkie talkie on his shoulder. There’s no way that’s going to end good. She doesn't know why she does it, but one second she was holding a shirt for her nephew and the next she's pushing the rack of clothes in front of the guard and grabbing the near naked and guy and running. She hears a camera snap behind her and a ‘hey wait up’ but all she’s really focused on is getting the guy out of the mall before he’s arrested for public indecency or something.
The hand in hers tugs her to stop just before the reach the mall doors, making her halt in her running. She looks back and ‘woah, he’s pretty.’
“Hey, not that I’m thankful but, my friend...” Pretty eyes trails off and he takes in a breath and wait, when did she start calling him pretty eyes. No! He’s a stranger.
“Yeah well, your friend isn’t the one half naked in the mall getting chased by security.” He ponders it for a minute then nods. “So let’s go. I promise i’m not gonna murder you, just gonna take you to the parking lot so you don’t get arrested for public indecency and end up on the sex offender registry.” Pretty eyes get’s scared at that and then begins to nod vehemently.
“Yeah, yeah that’s bad. Lets go!” As he says that, security appears behind them. She grabs his hand and they book it out of the mall and into the shockingly cold autumn air. She doesn’t know where this guy’s car is so she leads him to hers, praying she’s not making a mistake.
~ ~ ~
Owen doesn’t know how he ended up here. He remembers putting the clothes that were in the locker on and he remembers going to the first store and returning the shoes, but after that he thinks the adrenaline kicked in and he blacked out from it. One minute he was taking his pants of trying not to die of utter embarrassment and the next, some girl was dragging him out of the mall and to her car in the parking lot. He doesn’t know why he let this stranger drag him out of the mall, but he’s not really complaining as she shoves him into the back of her car, away from prying eyes. He only begins to panic when she climbs in next to him and shuts the door. Once the silence settles around them does reality finally settle in and does he realize what he actually just did.
“Holy shit. Holy shit what did I do! Oh my God that could have ended so bad! Oh my God!” He panics for another minute before a hand settles on his bare shoulder.
“Hey. Hey! You’re fine. They didn’t follow us out, you’re not getting in trouble.” Her voice is soothing, he’ll admit, and he can feel the anxiety begin to ease back. But it doesn’t change the fact that he was just half naked in the mall where anyone could have recognized him and taken pictures. Granted, Charlie did think about that and put a random blue baseball cap and glasses in the bag of clothes too. But still, that’s like, nothing! He goes to grab his phone to check instagram before realizing he’s only in his underwear. In a random girls car. In a Vancouver mall parking lot. She seems to realize this at the same time because she clears her throat and scooches to the other side of the car.
“Um, do you, do you like, have clothes or something I can go retrieve or...” He nods and goes to give her the key to the locker, then remembers, no pants. They chuckle at the same time and looks down at her purse, rummaging through it for her phone. He takes it from her with a small ‘thanks’ hoping his cheeks aren’t showing how flushed he feels. He quickly dials BooBoo’s number, giving him the details of what went down, asking the girl where they are and reporting it back to him, then hangs up.
“Um, thanks. For that. And for saving me from being arrested. That was, thanks.” The girl giggles and nods. “I’m Owen, by the way. I don’t normally run around malls in my underwear.” He sticks his hand out, hoping she’ll take it and give a name in return. He’d really like the pretty girl's name.
“I’m Y/N. I don’t normally take random, half naked strangers to my car.” He laughs at that and they shake hands.
“Well, thanks for making an exception.” They stare at each other for another few seconds before a knock on his window makes them break apart. He looks over and sighs in relief at BooBoo and his clothes in his hand. He opens the door and jumps out, taking the clothes from BooBoo and immediately shoving his legs into his pants. The girl get’s out after him, smiling at him balancing on one foot and trying not to fall over.
“Thanks, for saving him. No hard feelings for leaving me in the dust.” BooBoo smiles as he says it so Owen hopes the girl doesn’t take it too harshly. She laughs though and, woah, that’s a nice laugh. He’s so focused on her smile and the way she says her name that he puts his shirt on backwards. He doesn’t notice until BooBoo points it out, laughing as he does. When Owen is properly dressed again, he takes a deep breath and leans against the car.
“When I see Charlie, I’m gonna murder him. We’ll have to film the rest of the season without him. Kenny can deal.” Owen only realizes what he’s said when BooBoo shoots him a look. Y/N looks at the two in confusion, before looking back at Owen.
“You’re an actor?” He nods and watches as her face goes from confused to angry. “And you got undressed in a mall? How stupid are you?” She punctuates the last sentence with punches to his arm. BooBoo giggles in true BooBoo fashion as Owen rubs his arm. He watches her take out her phone and he looks over her shoulder as she opens twitter. She goes to the search bar, pauses, and then looks up at him.
“Full name?”
“Oh um, Owen Joyner.” He watches her type it in and breathes a sigh of relief as nothing but Alex edits pop up. She tries Instagram next, then TikTok, and gets the same answers as before. Nothing about him being naked in a mall, just fan edits of him and him as Alex.
“You are so lucky no one saw you dude, your career would be over.” She says, closing her phone and putting in her pocket. “What were you thinking?” He can’t help but feel scolded and slightly cowers in response. She notices and immediately softens. “Sorry, I just met you, I shouldn't be so mean.” A pause. “But that was still really stupid.” BooBoo giggles and Owen shoots him a look before nodding and looking back at Y/N.
“Yeah but, it was a dare.”
“And you just accepted it?” Owen feels his cheeks go red and looks at his feet.
“Well, yeah. We wanna win.” Y/N giggles and looks between the two boys.
“Seriously? So what is this? Some sort of dare game night?” The boys nod, then BooBoo lights up and reaches into his pocket for the next dare.
“Speaking of, the cashier at the store gave me the next dare. Are you ready?” Owen groans and BooBoo takes it as an affirmative. He opens the envelope and quickly glances at Y/N before reading it aloud for Owen.
“Take a picture in a photo booth with a stranger.” Y/N glances at the card and sees words on the back too.
“There’s something on the back.” BooBoo flips it and begins to giggle again.
“No way. Oh man Owen.”
“Me! Why me? I just walked naked around a mall!”
“Because it’s asking you to kiss a stranger and my girl would kill me if I did this.” Y/N blanches at that and begins to slowly and hopefully discreetly back away from the two boys. But Owen catches her.
“Hey.” He looks nervous and begins to fiddle with his fingers. “You don’t have to! Obviously! I mean, you already saved me once, but, like I kinda know you now and you’ve already seen me shirtless...” He trails off and flashes puppy dog eyes at the girl. She huffs and groans and finally, “Fine. Let’s get this over with. Y’all better win this stupid game though.” Owen smiles bright and Y/N tries to ignore the butterflies in her stomach at the sight. She just met this boy for god sakes!
The three young adults head back into the mall to one of the strips that has a photo booth. BooBoo giggles as he all but shoves the two into the small area, singsonging a “good luck” before pulling the curtain closed.
Awkward silence falls over the two as they squeeze together on the small seat. They smile nervously at each other as they hear BooBoo drop coins into the slot outside.
“Um, so, do you wanna like -”
SNAP!
They giggle and look at the camera with smiles in time for the next one.
SNAP!
Y/N looks back at Owen and, in a moment of confidence, grabs Owen’s shirt and brings his face closer to his.
SNAP!
He glances at her lips, licks his own, then they’re kissing. His lips are soft and she sinks into him. She feels his tongue lick her bottom lip and almost lets a moan slip as she opens her mouth a bit for him. They don’t even hear the last snap, too caught up in each other. Her hands move to his hair and his hold her hips tight. They break for air eventually, eyes closed as they breathe in and giggle.
“That was um...” Y/N nods. “Yeah. That was, yeah.” She feels him tilt his head towards her again for another kiss, but the curtain opening pulls them apart. They jump apart, as much as they can in the small booth, and stare at BooBoo like they were caught doing something bad. He’s smirking and shaking the photo strip in his hands.
“Oh yeah, we’re definitely winning.” Owen breathes out a laugh and Y/N nods, taking BooBoo’s offered hand to help her out.
“Um, I better, go, yeah, I should go. I hope you guys, uh, win or something.” Y/N hikes her purse up her shoulder and begins to walk away, eyes on her feet and hands shaking as they go into her pockets. She’s almost to the exit when a hand wraps around her upper arm.
“Hey wait up!” Owen. “Um, I just, that was, that was something right? I wasn’t imagining that? That was like, could I have um, number? Could I have your number?” He’s stuttering, face red and hands shaking in his pockets. Y/N has to giggle, feeling a bit calmer knowing she’s not the only one who’s feeling something.
“Yeah, that was number worthy.” They smile while exchanging numbers, then keep smiling as Owen leans and kisses her cheek.
“Thanks for saving my ass twice tonight,” he whispers in her ear before leaning back. Y/N nods and begins to back away.
“Yeah well, it’s a pretty nice ass.” With that she turns and practically runs back to her car, not believing what a night it's been.
~ ~ ~
“And we’re tied! Although, there is one more dare on the table.” Charlie giggles, knowing exactly what it is, saving for last for a reason. Carolynn swipes it off the table before anyone else can, ripping it open and smiling at the words.
“Kiss a member of your team.” She sees Jeremy smile and buff up, getting ready for smooch from his wife since they were partners. Carolynn smiles and leans towards him, before quickly grabbing Tori’s neck and giving her a chaste kiss on the lips. Everyone laughs and cheers, Jeremy pouting at his girl while she grabs his hand.
“Well then, unless any of the boys kissed a stranger in a photo booth, the girls win.” BooBoo goes to raise his hand, but Owen stops him. BooBoo shoots him a look but Owen shakes his head, hoping he gets why. Why he doesn’t want to mention Y/N. Sweet, life-saving Y/N who didn’t even know who he was or hell, who BooBoo was. Who just saw a random guy in need of saving and didn’t think twice about helping him. BooBoo lets it go, and Owen nods a thanks. He cheers for the girls as they accept their win, hand rubbing the picture strip in his pocket, and mind preparing a text to Y/N as soon as he can escape to his room.
Maybe dare night wasn’t such a bad idea.

Love, Owen. | OWEN PATRICK JOYNER
Requested by anon: “Hi, I have a request for Owen! He's in love with Y/N but despite all his flirty comments, she's still oblivious, and he gets mad when one day she told him that she have a date. Please and thank you x”
PAIRING(s): Owen Joyner x fem! reader
WARNING(s): angst, owen being a dumbass, some language, fluffy ending
WORD(s): 3,343
SUMMARY: in which y/n is engaged, but owen is hopelessly in love with her.
A/N: took a little creative liberty here hehe :3
Tumblr media
    Owen taps his foot anxiously, and his roommate and best friend, Charlie, gives him a dirty look. “Can you stop that? I’m trying to text my sister.”
  “Sorry. I just feel anxious.” He admits, looking down at the grey tiles of Vancouver International airport.
  Charlie’s voice softens. “Why?”
  “I just haven’t seen her in so long and I’m scared if things are too… weird, or different.”
  “Hey, breathe, okay? She’s been your best friend for how long?” Charlie lays a hand on his shoulder.
  “Since we were five, so fourteen years.”
  “I can promise you that nothing will change, okay, buddy? It’s gonna be fine.”
  Owen nods, looking at the red, neon ‘Arrivals’ sign atop his head. He pulls out his phone from his pocket and his eyes linger on his lock screen, that is a picture of him and the person he is currently waiting for – Y/N, his best friend. He smiles at the picture – it’s them on her last birthday, and she is grinning, wearing a princess tiara and red, heart sunglasses, while he’s pouting, with a birthday cap atop his head, as she squishes his cheeks.
  He feels a tap on his back, and he turns around, his heart racing, fully expecting to see her, after two long months.
  But it’s Charlie, grinning with a mischievous glint in his eyes.
  A disappointed sigh escapes Owen, and he says, “What are you doing?”
  His friend shrugs and says, “Behind you.”
  He turns around again, and finally spots her, standing a couple feet away – and for a moment, his world tilts on its axis, and it’s just him and Y/N. Warmth courses through his veins, as his body goes on autopilot and he starts taking long strides towards her. She seems to also have frozen in time, but when she sees Owen, she runs, and jumps into his arms, wrapping her legs around his torso, and her arms around his neck.
  The momentum shocks him, but he quickly recovers and holds her steady against his body. It’s like his brain is lagging – but he feels like he’s home when her fruity smell overpowers his senses.
  “I’ve missed you, too.” Owen whispers, as she buries her face in the crook of his neck. He feels the vibrations of her laugh roll into his body as she says, “I have so much to tell you.”
  He slowly puts her down, running his hands along the length of her back. Y/N takes a step back from him, and grins, and Owen’s sure that his heart melted, just a little.
  He knows that the fact that he’s in love with her is hopeless, pointless, even. But he can’t help it – how could he? Y/N is his other half, his best friend, his family. She is the most beautiful girl he’s ever laid his eyes on, and she is as sweet as sugar. She sees good in every human being, no matter how much they’ve hurt her – and has a spark inside her, that can put all the fires in the world to shame. She knows him like the back of her hand, and has always been there for him, with no expectations.
  So, it was quite inevitable that he fell in love with her.
  She reaches a hand forward, and combs Owen’s hair with it. “Your hair’s a mess, as usual.”
  “That’s because I didn’t have you to fix it.” He replies cheekily, but Y/N just laughs.
  “Your mother told me to remind you to do your laundry.”
  He nods. “Noted. Also, did I mention that somehow you’re a hundred times more beautiful than the last time that I saw you?”
  “Pfft. Where’s Charlie?” She says, and Owen’s unsure whether she is oblivious to or ignores his blatant flirting. It’s not like it has been subtle – he loves her so much that it’s impossible for him to not give signs at this point.
  “Right here. Loving all the attention that you’re giving me, kiddo.” Charlie says, walking up to them.
  She laughs breezily, hugging him. “I’m just two years younger than you, dude.”
  “I know – holy shit, Y/N, is that an engagement ring?” Charlie’s eyes widen and Owen feels his heartbeat race. “What?”
  He looks at his best friend, and she bites her lower lip. “That’s what I’m here to tell you.”
  Owen takes a step back from their little circle, suddenly feeling breathless. “So, you’re not here because you missed me, but because you got engaged to some – some dude?”
  “No! No, that was phrased wrong. No, that’s not it.” She mumbles the last part, but he’s not convinced. “It’s not some dude, Owen – Louis asked me to marry me.”
  “Louis? The guy you’ve been dating for three months?!”
  “But I’ve known him for a year!”
  Owen shakes his head. He absolutely hates Louis. To be honest, he hates any and every boy that shows an interest in Y/N, and that’s a lot of people – and who can blame them, right? But she’s always turned down those boys, choosing to have a movie marathon with Owen instead. But Louis – he goes to college with her, and even though he hates to admit it, they are quite alike – they’re both brilliant and ambitious.
  That’s why Owen’s always felt insecure ever since she said that he had asked her out – because how could Y/N choose him over perfect Louis? Louis whose part British, part French, is obsessed with physics just as much as Y/N is, who is tall, and handsome, who volunteers at homeless centres on his weekends, and is on the soccer team?
  When they went on their first date, he didn’t think much of it. She’s always going on dates, something about living life to the fullest, and making as many connections as possible. He didn’t think that anything would come out of it, because it never does. Sure, he wishes that he’s the one that she goes with on those dates, but at least, nothing serious ever happens on them. The last serious relationship she had was during their senior year, which was also when Owen had realised that he is in love with her.
  But now, he feels a heart crushing weight, the weight of his secret, because he never, ever thought that it would go this far.
  “You’re making a huge mistake.” He mutters and Y/N’s brows furrow.
  “Owen, please, you’re my best friend. You’re supposed to support me no matter what.”
  He shakes his head. “I can’t support you when you’re throwing your entire life down the drain.”
  “You never support me. You didn’t support me in high school, and you don’t support me now.”
  “Your high school boyfriend wanted you in the kitchen with a dinner plate and refused to let you go to Stanford.”
  “That is not the point. The point is, you’re supposed to have my back. But I feel like I don’t even know you anymore. You never call me – I get it, O, you’re busy with your life – and I’m so happy for you, you know that I am, but I didn’t realize that being an actor would mean that we wouldn’t even be friends anymore.”
  Owen pauses. It’s true, he has been ignoring her. But, in his defence, whenever they would talk, Louis was around. He’s always around. It made Owen feel pure, blind hatred because he is everything that Owen is insecure about.
  “That’s your fault.”
  She raises her brows. “Really? How?”
  “Because all you talk about is Louis!” He lies. “We all know that he isn’t gonna last, Y/N.”
  Her jaw clenches. “Excuse me?”
  “You don’t know how to be in a relationship. That’s why none of them last. You’re just gonna leave him and break his heart like all the other guys.” He says, bitterly. At this point, words are just flowing out of his mouth – almost as if some imaginary faucet in his brain has been turned on.
  “You don’t know what you’re saying, O.” She looks around, and Owen knows her so well that he knows that she is trying to hide the fact that she might start crying.
  Then, before he can stop himself, years of suppressed feelings rise. “I know you, Y/N. You think you’re better than anyone, but, in reality, you’re the worst. You treat people as if they’re nothing and you never, ever care about what others feel. You don’t care about anything – me, Louis or anyone.”
  A single tear slides down her cheek, but she quickly wipes it away, and Owen finally catches a sight of her ring – a single, beautiful, big diamond on a silver ring. Simple, just as she likes.
  That makes him even more mad, and he says, “You were supposed to be my best friend – but right now I cant even look at you, Y/N.”
  His voice cracks when he says her name.
  “Is that what you think of me?” She finally says, her voice hoarse. Just speaking frees more tears from her eyes, and Owen’s heart breaks, but he can’t stop.
  He nods, and she chokes back a sob.
  “Owen, you don’t mean that.” Charlie whispers softly, wrapping an arm around her shoulders to comfort her. Owen forgot that he was here, and his throat tightens. He hates the fact that she’s friends with all his friends, and they love her as much as they love him.
  “I – I – I’m gonna stay somewhere else. Since you can’t, you know, even look at me.” She wipes her eyes with the sleeve of her sweatshirt, and Owen stops himself from reaching forward and holding her. He hates himself so much, right now – he said all those things that he didn’t mean, things that are completely false, just because he’s jealous. He hates the fact that his best friend is crying in front of him, and he has to look away because of his pride.
  “Hey, Y/N, that’s nonsense –” Charlie starts but Y/N raises a hand and says, “Please, Charlie. I – I can’t stand here and take this shit. I’m just… just gonna go.” She hooks a finger on her trolley, and drags it behind her, walking toward the exit.
  As he watches her go, Owen feels the heaviness in his chest return, like a stone. He feels his throat tighten, and his vision blur, while his mind races – he tries to catch a thought, but they’re all messy and he doesn’t know what to think. He feels like he’s trapped, like someone has put a plastic bag over his head, and he feels like there’s no air around.
  He is faintly aware of Charlie holding him, and whispering, “O, you’re having a panic attack.”
***
    “Owen? Are you alright?” Savannah asks, resting a hand on his shoulder.
  He nods. “Absolutely.”
  Madison plops on the couch beside him, in the break room. “Where’s Y/N? Wasn’t she supposed to come here yesterday?”
  Owen watches Savannah’s eyes widen as shakes her head toward Madison, who looks completely oblivious.
  “She… Uh, she… we had a fight, and she went to stay somewhere else.” He says, still reeling from yesterday’s events.
  Honestly, he doesn’t know what to do. After his panic attack at the airport, Charlie took him home and let him stay under his covers for the rest of the day, informing everyone on set that he had a bad cold and couldn’t make it. After a while, Savannah was there with bags of Chinese food for Owen and when he tried to eat, he remembered the fact that Chinese cuisine is Y/N’s favorite, and their go-to whenever they ordered take out.
  He told Charlie and Savannah that he absolutely hated himself, and that he was a horrible person, and everything that he said to Y/N were things that he is. He knows that what he said was wrong, and that there is no excuse for it, and not meaning them would not make him forget how broken his best friend looked.
  He’s spent all of today working with Booboo, avoiding Charlie and Savannah because he can’t stand the pity in their eyes for him.
  “You know, you should just apologize to her.” Savannah says, softly.
  He shakes his head. “She hates me. I know that. I know what I said is unforgivable.”
  “Owen, I’m a hundred percent sure that she could never hate you. I’ve known her for so long, so trust me on this.”
  “Well, I’ve known her longer, so trust me on this.”
  He lies on the couch he was sitting on and pulls out his headphones from his pocket.
  “Owen, come on –”
  “Just let me cry, Savannah. It’s what I deserve.”
  “That’s enough, Joyner. Get up.” Charlie says, walking up from behind them.
  “Leave me alone, Charlie.”
  “No. This is not you, all right?”
  “Maybe it is.”
  Charlie slaps him.
  “Dude! That hurt!”
  “That’s the point. Now come on, get up. You can either feel sorry for yourself and wallow in self pity for the rest of your life, or you can go to your best friend and apologize to her because you were a dick and tell her how you really feel and how you were jealous.”
  “She doesn’t –”
  Charlie slaps him again.
  “Dude, what the fuck!”
  “I’m so tired of seeing you mope. Mads, push him off the couch.”
  Madison scoffs. “I’m not gonna – OK, fine, don’t look at me like, Charlie, you’re so scary when you’re mad.” She grabs a handful of Owen’s shirt and drags him, but he gets up himself.
  “OK, fine! But I don’t know where she’s staying!”
  “Savannah will take care of that.”
  She nods. “I will. Just fix him, Charlie, okay? He looks fucking homeless.”
  “Hey!”
***
    Owen raises his fist above the white door in the white hallway of the very white hotel Y/N’s staying at. He pauses, taking a deep breath, but it’s hard because he’s feeling very anxious, and the white surroundings are making him lose it a little.
  He closes his eyes and builds up his courage. It’s hard because the person that usually makes him calm is the one making him nervous right now. Yet, he inhales a lungful of air, and knocks on the door.
  Knock’s not the correct word. He literally bangs on the door, the frustration rolling off of him in waves. His heart races in anticipation when he hears footsteps on the other side of the door which comes to a stop and Owen knows she’s checking the door hole, and wonders whether she’ll open the door now that she’s seen him.
  She does, and a little hope rises in his chest, and he thinks, or rather prays, that she doesn’t hate him. The door swings open, and she stands there, wearing a pink onesie and a nonchalant expression.
  “What do you want?” She asks, bitterly.
  “Everything’s so white, Y/N. How are you staying here?” He blurts out.
  She sighs, and proceeds to close the door, but Owen slides in, raising his hands. “Y/N. Please. Can I tell you something?”
  “Isn’t that all you’ve been doing since yesterday?” She snaps, closing the door behind him, and brushing by him during the action. Owen feels a flutter in his stomach at that.
  “I deserve that.” He admits, looking down at his shoes. “But please. Let me explain.”
  She walks away from him. “No. This time I’m talking.”
  She stares at him determinedly, and Owen gulps.
  “Yesterday – it was just another example of you… exploiting my weakness.” She pauses, taking a deep breath. “You… I…” She trails off, and that determination fades from her eyes.
  At that moment, Owen notices her left hand, or rather the absence of a ring there.
  “Y/N, where’s your ring?”
  She smiles, sadly. “Don’t you understand? This is exactly what I’m talking about! You disapproved, and I broke it off! I broke it off with a perfectly good guy, and I broke his heart, Owen. Like you said I would. Like I’ve done to every other guy that was in my life.”
  She’s going too fast, he thinks. Finally, he says, “I – I don’t understand…”
  “Of course, you don’t! You never have and you never will! It’s you, Owen. You’re my weakness. You disapproved, and I… I called off the wedding. You weren’t completely right, Owen… I mean, I don’t care about Louis, about any other guy – but I care about you. I care about you the most, and that’s why I can never be in a relationship, and I never can get married. Your opinion, you mean more to me than anyone else, and it’s why I’ve spent the entirety of yesterday crying instead of doing anything!”
  Owen’s lips part, and he’s too scared to make anything out of Y/N’s words, because this time, he wouldn’t be able to handle the disappointment that usually comes after feeling hope about them.
  “Owen… I’m in love with you, and it’s breaking me inside.”
  Right now, Y/N’s face is damp with tears, but he’s frozen. He’s been waiting, waiting, waiting to hear those words and dreaming, dreaming, dreaming of this moment, but now that it’s happening, he doesn’t know what to do. Y/N scoffs. “Of course. Just… just see yourself out, okay?”
  She turns around, wiping her face with the back of her hand, and her movement is what breaks Owen out of his trance. He takes long strides towards her, and grabs her wrist, and the contact of her cold skin on his warm skin seems to shock the both of them.
  They stand mere millimetres apart, and finally Owen speaks, “Y/N. I was jealous yesterday.”
  Her eyebrows shoot upwards, and he continues, “I mean, Louis’ perfect! He makes me feel so insecure, because he’s clearly the better choice out of the two of us. Plus, you’ve always ignored my flirting, so I thought –”
  “Flirting? When?!” She asks.
  He loses it a little. “All the time! Dude! You’re the only person with whom I flirt! Like, I can’t even help it, it just happens –”
  “Are you saying that I’ve been oblivious –”
  “I thought – okay, never mind. Anyway. That doesn’t excuse what I said last day. I’m incredibly sorry, Y/N. I hope you know that I didn’t mean a single word that I said, and you’re the most caring person in my life, all right? You… you’ve always gone out of your way to be kind, and what I said was not true and not okay at all. I’m sorry. It was just years of frustration.”
  “Well, if you hadn’t been so daft, and said something earlier –”
  “I could say the same about you – okay, that’s not the point. The point is I’m sorry. I’m sorry for yesterday, I’m sorry for ignoring you all these months because I was insecure –”
  “You ignored me because you were insecure about Louis? Clearly, you’re the superior person in my life.”
  “Y/N, have you seen his hair and his accent? Clearly not.”
  “Well, you do have a point. Still, you’re clearly more important to me.”
  Owen can feel her breath on his skin now. “I always do. Y/N. I’m in love with you, too. I’m also sorry that I’ve been an idiot –”
  “Well, in your defence, we’ve both been idiots.”
  He smiles at her and raises his right hand to caress the side of her face. She leans into the touch, closing her eyes for a second.
  “Say it again.” He whispers.
  “What?”
  “That you love me too.”
  “I love you. I love you. I love you, Ow –”
  He doesn’t let her finish, but instead cups her face with both of his hands, and presses his lips to hers, the familiar, homely sensation arising, yet again. She tastes like chocolate and everything sweet in the world. She smiles into the kiss, and when they pull apart for air, she whispers, “Never interrupt me like that again.”
  He grins, his thumb rubbing circles on her cheek. “Noted. And Y/N?”
  She hums in question, her eyes shining like stars.
  “I love you.”
  She smiles, and it lights up his world.

a/n: This was longer than I expected to be and it took me a while to figure out how I wanted it to end, but I think I like it! Hope you enjoy!
Also, my requests are closed for the time being! I have my inbox open so I can still talk to everyone but as of right now please don’t send in requests!

———————————-
Today was the day.
The day finally came for your big scene, one that you were nervous and excited about all at the same time. You even tried to avoid it. It was a weird mix of emotions that you couldn’t quite explain.
You sat in the hair and makeup chair, trying to calm your nervous thoughts down. Julie and The Phantoms was your first real show that you booked, and this was your biggest scene of the season.
A warm hands placing itself on top of your smaller, shaking ones pulls you from your thoughts. It also causes you to jump at the contact as you were so far from reality at that moment.
A chuckle leaves the lips from the same person who owns the hand that was on top of yours.
You turn to look at the blue eyes that were staring back at you. You were met  with the kind smile of your boyfriend; he was well aware of the nerves that were plaguing you.
“It’s going to be okay Y/N, you’ve got this!” He smiles at you, “Besides if you fail, I will only love you a little less.”
Your mouth drops at your boyfriend’s words. You’re quick to pull your hands from his and lean over to deliver a slap to his chest.
“Owen!” You yell shocked at his words.
The two of you laugh together.
“Seriously though Y/N, you’re going to be great!” You smile at your boyfriend’s kind words, nodding your head along with him.
As much as you wanted to believe his words, the nervous thoughts were still prominent in your mind.
Owen sits with you in silence, your hand in his, as the team finishes putting you together to look like your character.
Season two of Julie and The Phantoms came and they decided that they wanted to add a female ghost into the mix.
And that is how you got here; your character was Tatum Lanning. Your character was supposed to be the antagonist for Charlie’s character Luke.
Tatum had died when she turned 17 as well, but she didn’t know why. Her goal was to try to figure out what happened and in searching she somehow became entangled with Julie and the boys.
Tatum was rough around the edges; she was a tough girl due to trauma that she endured in her life. She had a nose piercing and was covered in a few tattoo’s. She had died around the same time the boys did so her style was similar to theirs.
The only problem with Tatum was the fact that her and Luke did not get along, for the fact that they both are very similar and are dealing with the fact of having issues with their parents when they were alive.
“Y/N, you’re ready to go!” Soyon pulls you from your thoughts.
You can feel your nerves kick up again. This was just your first real scene with such raw emotion that you feared you wouldn’t be able to pull it off.
“I’m nervous O.” You grab his hand letting him lead you to Julie’s garage where your scene takes place for today.
“It’s gonna be okay Y/N! We’ve gone over this scene so many times, plus you and Charlie have practiced it a lot! You crushed it every time and today won’t be any different.”
Owen finishes his pep talk as you reach the set. He turns to face you at the end of it so that you’re facing one another, the look in his eyes instantly calming you down.
You may be nervous but you trust the words coming out of Owen’s mouth. You’ve got this, you’ve been practicing this scene for months; you could do it in your sleep by this point.
“You’re right, I’ve got this.” You smile and lean up to press a kiss to Owen’s lips.
You pull away when you hear Kenny’s voice and his footsteps coming towards you.
“Y/N! Quick change!” Kenny pauses as he stops in front of you and Owen and looks at the two of you with an awkward smile, “So we decided that we want Tatum and Luke to kiss scene.”
“How about no?” Owen’s words shocking both you and Kenny. Neither of you expected Owen to talk back, yet alone with an outburst like that.
Your eyes fling back in forth between Owen and Kenny. You can see the discomfort in Owen’s eyes but can tell he is trying to hide it. He didn’t mean to say that out loud.
“I am sorry, that was not on purpose.” Kenny gives him a side eye but laughs knowing Owen didn’t mean any harm and that it was just as much as surprise for him that he said it as it was for everyone else. “Anyways there will be a kissing scene today!” Kenny says.
“Oh okay.” You practically choke out.
“I know it’s a surprise but,” again he trails off looking at you and Owen, “ we think it’s best for the dynamic of the character’s relationship!  We want you to do the scene just how we practiced but at the end we want the kiss to occur, but we’re gonna let you and Charlie take the lead on it! Do what you feel is best!”
“Got it Kenny!” You smile at him trying to hide your own discomfort. First of all you have never kissed anyone for a scene, let alone your boyfriend’s best friend.
You turn to face back to Owen, an awkward smile graced upon both of your lips. The two of you just stand there in an awkward silence.
“So,” Owen is the first to break the silence, “that’s a curve ball.”
“Ya it is.” You can tell Owen is uncomfortable but you don’t know how to fix the situation. It’s not like you could stop the scene from occurring. “You trust me right O?”
“Of course I do, you know that.”
“Then we’ve got nothing to worry! This scene maybe a little awkward now for us but it’s just a scene.” You tell him, trying to convince the both of you that it would be fine and not as weird as you know it is.
“I know, it’s just a scene, you’re right.” He leans down to give you another kiss. “Go crush it killer, you’ve got this!”
You then turn on your heel, to go walk into the middle the garage where your scene will be starting. Charlie is already there talking to a few of the crew mates, they disperse when you walk up to them.
Charlie turns to look at you with a smile on his face. “So? They told you about the change for the scene.” He asks you.
“That they did.” You smile back awkwardly.
“Does Owen know?”
“That he does!” The two of you just stand there silently. “It’s gonna be fine, it’s just a scene and we’re both professionals so is Owen!” You say trying to convince the both of you that it’s fine.
“You’re right Y/N, we’ve got this!” Charlie is cut off before he can continue by Kenny yelling at everyone to get in places to start the scene.
The two of you step back from each other, getting ready to act your hearts out.
“And action!”
“I just don’t understand why you always have to be here Tatum!” Charlie yells as Luke, his brows furrowed and a pout on his face.
“Just because you don’t like having me around Luke doesn’t mean I can’t be around. Besides Julie asked me to come over, she said she had something for me.” You say nonchalantly as you throw your body onto the couch.
Leaving Luke standing by himself next to the piano. The pout on his face still evident.
“I just don’t get why they think you’re so great.” Luke turns to face you, a smirk now replacing the pout, “you’re actually quite annoying.”
You roll your eyes at his words, knowing that he wanted to rile you up.
“Whatever Patterson, you’re just upset they like me and want me around despite you thinking otherwise! You just don’t like that they don’t listen to your every word now.”
Tatum knows how to get under Luke’s skin, the same way he knows how to get under hers.
You could see the anger fuming from his face. Everyone knew Luke liked to take the lead on things, but he didn’t like having it pointed out. For whatever reason.
“Just shut it Lanning, you don’t know what you’re talking about.” Again you roll your eyes at his words.
“I know exactly what I’m talking about,” you’re shoving yourself up from the couch and walking closer to Luke, “You’re just upset that King Luke isn’t being listened too. Well news flash you’re not in charge of everything and everyone!”
It seems like a silly argument but it gets under both of your skin. Luke and Julie had gotten in an argument a few weeks ago, Julie had pointed that Luke had a power issue that he needed to work on. So since then, Luke has been hyper cautious of sharing the power between everyone.
“You’re wrong Lanning,” now Luke has closed the gap between you two and is getting in your face, “I don’t like you here because I find you annoying. I think you’re overbearing and overstep your boundaries!”
“Funny, I think the same thing about you! You just don’t like that your friends like me and come to me with their issues before they go to you or the fact that they don’t listen to you about me!”
“That’s not true! They just feel bad for you and all your issues!”
“I could say the same thing about you Patterson with your mommy issues.”
Now the two of you are chest to chest, both of you heaving as the fight has taken the breath out of both of you. You can see the anger evident on Luke’s and can only assume it was evident on your face as well.
The silence laying over the two of you like a dark cloud. Then the next thing you know, Luke has his hand on the back of your neck and is crashing his lips into yours.
Your lips interlocked for a few seconds, as they move together and the two of you pour your emotions into the kiss.
Then you’re pulling away from him and taking a step back. Both of you looking at each other bewildered. Your hand moves up to trace your lips, the feeling of his still lingering on them. Then you poof out before either of you could say another word.
“And cut!” Kenny is clapping his hands at the scene that just unfolded in front of him, “That was amazing you two, great job!”
You smile at his words, grateful that you finally got this scene over and that you were able to make your way through it.
You look around trying to find Owen but you can’t seem to find his blonde hair anywhere in the crowd.
“Do you see Owen?” You whisper at Charlie, hoping that he had eyes on your boyfriend.
“No, I don’t.”
You can feel your heart tug at his words. Owen said he would be there for you and this scene, so not having him there upsets you.
“Go find him.”
That’s all it takes for you to speed walk off the set and go looking for Owen. You didn’t know where to look for him, but if he wasn’t around the common area you assumed, he was in his trailer.
You were right.
You slowly open the door and peek your head around it, hoping to see your boyfriend.
You see the top of his blonde hair hanging off the couch.
“Owen?” You make your way into the trailer; you were just greeted by a grunt coming for your boyfriend who had his face buried into the couch.
“O?” Again you ask, sitting on the end of the couch, rubbing your hand up and down his back. “Why did you leave back there?”
Owen stays lying face down for a few more seconds, letting your rub your hand on his back longer before he rolls over to face you.
He doesn’t say anything, he just stares at you.
“Why so you think I left?” The tone of his voice shocking you especially at how short he was about it.
You just look back at him, confused.
“It’s actually just my favorite thing getting to watch my best friend make out with my girlfriend! Sorry I didn’t want to see it last any longer.” Owen cuts you off before you can even say anything else. He also has himself up and, on his feet, so he in front of you, yelling now.
You’re shocked, you two talked before it happened, granted it wasn’t a long talk but you thought it was enough.
“I’m sorry O, I know that couldn’t have been fun but I thought our conversation before helped.” Owen’s eyes soften at your words, he wasn’t mad at you and he didn’t mean to take it out on you.
He moves to sit next to you on the couch, a little calmer now that he has you in front of him instead of him left alone with his intrusive thoughts.
With a huff and a hand moving through his hair, Owen goes to speak, ‘I know, I know. I’m sorry love, it’s not your fault and you’re right we did talk about it before. I trust you and Charlie completely and know it was nothing but professional.”
You move closer to him, taking his hand in yours. This gets him to look up at you, finally looking you in the eyes. “Then what is it?” You still don’t understand his outburst.
“It’s just…” He trails off, embarrassed of the words that were about to leave him, “the fans already ship Luke and Tatum from the teasers, so they’re starting to make comments about how you guys would look good together so it’s just hard to see.”
Your eyes widen at his words not expecting his confession. “Plus everyone already talks about how attractive Charlie is, it just makes me insecure.”
Your heart breaks slightly as his words, you lean in closer to Owen and put your hand behind his neck not letting him look anywhere but you. “Owen Patrick Joyner, you are without a doubt the most handsome man I have ever laid my eyes on! Every day I look at you and just wonder how lucky I am that I somehow got you!”
Owen doesn’t say a word, he just presses his lips against yours. You enjoy the feeling of his lips on yours.
You’re the one to pull apart, “Besides O, they don’t know we’re dating, I bet if they did things would be different.” You wiggle your eyebrows at your words,  causing Owen to laugh.
“That is a fair point.”  He says.
“I’m glad you agree because  I think so too!” You laugh and press your lips against his again. The feeling of his lips was one you would never get tired of.
“Does that mean we’re going public?” He asks while placing kisses all across your face, making you laugh.
“I think it does Joyner, I think it does.”
The two of you spend the next few minutes looking through your photos trying to figure out which one to post. You finally land on a picture Charlie had taken of the two of you one day, Owen was sitting on their counter and has his arms wrapped around you while you were between his two legs. You were leaning up for a kiss and Owen was laughing, it was one of your favorite photos.
You posted it on your story, tagging him and with the caption surprise. Owen then shared it to his own story with hearts added onto it.
Both of your dm’s were quickly flooded by fans with their congratulations and excitement. One particularly stood out to Owen, it read “I told everyone, you guys were end game it was never Y/N and Charlie.” A smile makes its way onto his face.
“See I told you that they would like us together.” You look over his shoulder and up at him smiling.
“I guess you’re right.”
The two of you lean in and meet in the middle for a passionate kiss, the both of you were happy to finally be able to be public with your relationship. All of Owen’s insecurities fading away too, happy that he had his girl who loved him so much.
