I keep seeing people say "play Outer Wilds, no, I can't tell you anything about it". Bitch. It's an exploration game about astronauts fucking around in space, doing archeology, astrology astronomy and science, with the gameplay itself consisting mostly of navigation in various 3D spaces with your legs or your trusty spaceship. There are interesting characters and tantalizing mysteries. It will require a fair bit of reading and thinking, it will sometimes test your speed, reflexes and precision. The story is about curiosity, courage, compassion, music, death, rebirth, and the terrifying vastness of space. The game can induce agoraphobia, claustrophobia, fear of heights, fear of depths and that which is unseen or hidden. Your character has four eyes and can roast marshmallows on any bonfire. Bitch.

Basically! Hollow knight and Outer Wilds DLC crossover of sorts!! Me being very normal about HK and Outer wilds, I noticed some similarities between THK and Pris. So I thought it'd be fun to turn Pris into a vessel akin to THK itself!

Major spoilers for Outer Wilds and Hollow Knight under the cut! It's probably not that coherent but I just wanted to spew my thoughts

(Noting for those unfamiliar with Outer Wilds, I recommend playing the game before continuing bc the game is very knowledge based and knowing anything may change how you interact or perceive the game)

Both THK and Prisoner being sealed away in darkness for eternity... One as a sacrifice for its kingdom while the other as punishment for betraying their kind.

Their homes long gone or stuck in perpetual darkness (Hallownest being in a stasis and the whole timeloop business in Outer Wilds).

Both characters forced to "live" with the consequences of the decisions made by themselves or by the people around them. Never knowing if they'll ever find closure

And by the end, they do find closure. Thanks to a little friend.

Both are freed from their eternal prisons, both can finally die knowing they can finally be at peace.

The Dream No More ending of HK and the farewell vision Prisoner leaves you.... The cycle is finally broken. The shades can finally rest now that Radiance is gone, and Prisoner's vision features them going into a sunrise like *bursts into tears...* That fucks me UPPPP........

Poor sealed fellas who deserve all the good in the world and who deserve to REST.....

ok me and a couple people had a huge brain dump on discord just now, here are some newly adopted OW headcanons of mine:

gneiss always tries to get everyone to play an instrument (to varying degrees of success.) it ended up becoming a big thing mostly between astronauts

the founders each played and instrument, though most of them stopped after feldspar disappeared

^ the way they handle their instruments after largely reflects how they deal with the feldspar situation

^^ slate hid theirs away in a pile of scrap material, just like how they hide away their true feelings on feldspar’s disappearance (which they blame themself for the most.) im thinking either they or mica will find it, and when they do, it sends them back into their angry frustrated grieving

^^ hornfels still played theirs for a period while they were trying to radio feldspar. they stopped when they gave up hope, and now it just sits in a closet or a drawer somewhere

^^ gossan hasn’t been able to touch theirs since it happened, but they still keep it perched up in their cabin, and they look at it a lot. (they cant seem to shake the feeling that their friend is still out there)

^^ feldspar plays theirs in the hopes that their signal can be found. even if they say they aren’t to keen on going back, they still hope to reach their friends, at least to let them know they’re ok.

if feldspar is ever returned:

they have a very delayed response to all the trauma they endured, not even realizing how much it screwed with them until they try flying again

^ (they freeze up in the cockpit as they’re about to launch. it’s a very big “what? why is this happening??” for them)

their body has a hard time handling regular food for a while, since they were forced to eat whatever they could find on dark bramble all those years (which is mostly centipedes)

^ this is a big point of frustration since “a strong stomach is the mark of a true hearthian.” it’s almost like they lost their… hearthian…ness

they hide a lot of their shit behind a hearty facade, cracking lots of jokes about it all. (especially about their healing progress and their food situation) this keeps them under the radar for the most part, but everyone is still quietly worried about them

^ it’s gossan who eventually pulls them aside and goes “cut the crap. tell me what’s going on.” and then they have to talk about it and stuff

I'm hoping, also, to create some mini replica frames from EOTE and paint little owlk portraits within them in this style. This painting is what got me out of a huge art block in late 2024.
