Nishinoya’s story Chapter One: Frozen Treat Friends

So this is a tryout for the official format of the stories on this blog. The OC remains, but the readers will take her skin, therefore I will write using the ‘you’ pronoun. The poll for the possible answers will be at the end of the chapter, on this very post. Enjoy!

A comfortable exhaustion rested on your shoulders as you pulled your school bag on them. The sun would have set down by the time you would reach your house, but you were used to it. Even though all of the members of the dance troupe were tired, it felt as if all of their voices were chirping happily. Your choreographies were taking form and you were steadily progressing as planned. Even you, who was usually withdrawn, was caught in the energy of the moment, a genuine smile present on your face.

The energy was spread even outside of the club room. The members took the way to their house, separating into little groups. By that time, everyone had grown comfortable around each other and nobody was left behind. Yoichi Harui and Hara Nariko, two first-years, were walking with you. Both of them were already taller than your petite self. You didn’t really mind, though. It was your trademark feature, after all. Those short walks home almost every night with your juniors had made you build a bond with the both of them, which you were proud of as you weren’t really known as “the social senpai”. The title was easily handed to your best friend instead.

Turning the corner of the building, you came to face the other sports teams that had also just left their club rooms. You could hear your two friends starting to whisper things to each other, but your attention was focused on the boys’ volleyball team.

“Noya-san! She’s right behind you…” Tanaka whispered in his ear.

The libero’s heart nearly skipped a beat as he heard that, mechanically turning his head around to see you and your fellow dance troupe members.

“Go say hi,” Ennoshita encouraged him.

“But… I’m all sweaty,” he tried to protest.

“She’s just as sweaty as you, moron! Come on, it won’t kill you,” the shaven-headed spiker pushed him in your direction.

He was projected right in front of you. Even though you had been talking every day in class for more than a week now, he was still nervous around you. To be honest, he was intimidated by the fact he thought you were adorable, even with that neutral expression of yours. He had learned that it didn’t mean you didn’t like him, just that you were uncomfortable. However, this time around, he had managed to make you gasp by appearing so suddenly.

“Nishinoya-san, don’t surprise me like that,” you said, letting out a small laughter after realising it was him.

“Sorry, Oumae-san! I didn’t want to surprise you! I just… wanted to…”

He could hear the rest of his team chuckle and snicker behind his back. He had to do something, or else he would totally lose his credibility.

“Oumae-san, do you want to walk home with me? We can stop to buy something to eat,” he let out in one breath. Since he had learned you lived only a few blocks away from his house, he had wanted the opportunity to walk home with you.

Surprised at the offer, but slightly pleased, you looked around. Hara and Yoichi raised a brow you, amused. The volleyball team was already preparing to humiliate their libero in case of a failure.

“O-of course, I’ll gladly accept,” you answered, your cheeks turning pink as you turned around to face your friends. “If you don’t mind, girls…”

“Who knew Oumae-senpai was popular with guys,” snickered Hara as she walked passed both of you. It was enough to make Aya look away, embarrassed.

“See you soon, Oumae-senpai!” Yoichi told you, a meaningful smirk on her face.

The rest of the volleyball team had also started focusing on something else when they realised Nishinoya had received a positive answer. For an instant, he and you starred at each other in silence, both trapped by your respective shyness. Yuu’s flustered expression was clearly visible as he didn’t know what to do.

“So… let’s go?” he asked, breaking the silence. You nodded and started walking away from the school grounds, waiting for him to follow you.

Being completely honest with yourself, you knew you had only accepted his offer because of all the pressure put around it… and because Asuka would have killed you for refusing if she ever heard of it, which was most likely. Besides, you would have felt bad for letting Nishinoya embarrass himself in front of his whole team. Still, your confidence about this improvised hang-out was pretty thin. You were sweaty and tired, and all you wanted to do was to go home. At least, Yuu never ceased to give you energy when you were by his side, even though you had know each other for so little time.

“So… how’s practice doing, Nishinoya-san?” you finally asked him, breaking the silence.

“Pretty good!” he replied. “We’re pretty pumped up for the inter-high… We also have a coach now!” His grin had slowly come back on his face as he was recovering from his moment of embarrassment. Talking about volleyball did well on him, even you had noticed. It had become your go-to subject if you didn’t know what to talk about anymore.

“This is great news!” You returned his smile, though nobody’s could ever wish to be as beaming as his.

“How about the dance troupe?”

“We’re doing great as well, but we’re so nervous about our first competition. It’s a friendly one between some of the schools in the prefecture, but I’m still pretty stressed out because I’m in the front lineup for both of our choreographies.”

“You shouldn’t worry about that! I only saw you once, but you have a lot of talent!” he complimented you. The words had spilled out of his mouth almost by themselves. His shoulders tensed up, nervous of your reaction.

“Thank you, Nishinoya-san.” An urge to change the subject took you. Compliments had never made you very comfortable, especially coming from acquaintances. You could feel your cheeks getting rosy already. “I should come and see you play volleyball, sometime…” you added, hoping it would effectively shift the attention back to him.

On your behalf, the short guy’s eyes lit up. He was honored of your interest.

“Yes! You should definitely come and see us, Oumae-san! Even if it’s just a practice match! There will be one soon!”

“Oh… I don’t want to be a bother…”

“You won’t be a bother at all! In fact, I’ll try to save twice as more balls since you’ll be there!” Even after so little time, you knew the determined look in his eyes meant that he was completely serious about what he had just said.

That was how you ended up in front of the Sakanoshita store. Your eyes met for a moment.

“Hey, Oumae-san! Let’s buy popsicles!”

“Uh… sure…” You were taken aback by his suggestion. Still, you followed him inside the store, where he skipped to the freezed-treats section. A big freezer contained many types of ice-cream and other frozen treats.

You watched him pick up a soda-flavored Gari Gari Kun Popsicle, to which you smiled. Leaning down close to him, you picked up the orange-flavored treat of the same brand.

“Gari Gari Kun are my favorite as well, but I like orange more,” you commented. He made a face like he had just found his soulmate, in awe.

“You, too? My favorite are the soda-flavored ones, though,” he answered. This minor detail was enough to make him feel closer to you.

It felt like the clouds had lifted from above your heads just because of this simple fact. Your feet felt light as you both paid your treat to a blonde lazy-looking store clerk and left the store.

The moments of silence during the walk didn’t feel as awkward as they were. Otherwise, conversations on teachers, your respective clubs and that class you both hated with passion animated your trip home. Soon, it was time to part ways.

“Good evening, Nishinoya-san,” you told him, looking in his direction, facing the sun in the process. The light was blinding as he appeared to be the one shining. Rays of the falling sun shone in his hair as his brown eyes sparkled. It was a blinding, yet magnificent sight. For a second, you were slightly intimidated by this outstanding sight of him, but you were soon reassured by his boyish grin.

“Good evening, Oumae-san.”

Just as you were about to turn around to start walking alone, he spoke:

“Oumae… I… I feel like we should be friends,” he blurted out, looking away.

I'm looking for Canon x OC, FxM only (will double for AxA) and very much offer to Double! I only roleplay on Discord.

I am semi-literate to literate. I can write a couple paragraphs, but I prefere not having too much pressure when it comes to length. I usually type around the max. length on Discord, sometimes more. But somedays it might be a bit less.

I write my OC in first person and the character I double as (plus any additional ones) in third person.

I am in college and not the most active (most likely no rapid fire), yet I try to answer regularly and ask of my partner to be patient. Roleplaying is just a hobby for me, so I don't wanna force myself to reply, if I still got work to do or wanna spend my freetime with something else.

PERSONALITY: Etsuko is most commonly and easily described as a “mean bitch”, and while she is both mean and a bitch, she is also incredibly intelligent, cunning, and sly. Etsuko is a pro at hiding her own emotions and getting a job done, even if that means going against what she really feels. She rarely makes her motives known on top of that, being a very secretive person by nature. She also relies very heavily on her sibling; it’s said that without Tsubasa, Etsuko is essentially nothing. Notably, she is only ever bold when Tsubasa is around, though she is almost never truly aggressive, with or without them nearby. APPEARANCE: Etsuko has mostly-straight, neatly-done black hair which curls at the tips, and is tinted purple. She is very small, almost dainty, with a thin bone structure and thin face. Her face is more similar to Kokichi’s than Rantaro’s or Tsubasa’s, and she has very little muscle. Serviceable. Still a condensed rushjob and lazy adaptation because Seiji Kishi is fucking allergic to interesting but as an adaptation it fits his usual criteria of “mediocre minimal level of acceptability but acceptable nonetheless”.

Full disclosure: Just because these are my favorite voice actors does not mean I think their performances were…………………….all that great. Most of them were but at least four of them were, uh, pretty fucking wasted on the characters they got.

so i went to california a few weeks ago and...

No, I didn’t go ham. I had friends who were like “HERE HAVE THIS” and then I had this thing, and later went to a convention and THEN I went ham. 

Also this was my first non-family trip so I sort of bought a souvenir anywhere I deemed important enough to do so... America, you took a lot of my money. Oh and Disneyland too.

Disneyland souvenirs! A friend (Souless) bought the one of the left. You may have noticed Minnie Mouse ears on the first photo! I didn’t actually get them from Disneyland itself, t’was a gift from our Disneyland veteran who led us to many-a-ride and the least amount of waittime possible, Souless’ fiance Kat. :)

And yes Inside Out is my favourite Pixar movie. Watched Coco recently which was really good, but it’s only second to Inside Out. P:

All of this was bought by my friend Cannibalfood AKA Akira who went to cons and saw stuff I might like but never got around to actually shipping them to me.. and then, came with me to California and brought this stuff. This is why Negima is on there. It’s been that long.

Oh the non-weeb stuff is souvenirs I got with her while we were in San Fran, including Alcatraz touristy photos since we have few pictures together, a taxidermy place where we each got matching stingray barbs, how romantic. The rock was my very first souvenir. I wasn’t expecting on buying anything else in that shop, so it is the most boring thing here.

Next is stuff given to me by various people. The gacha is from Magus, the guy who I stayed at for about half the trip and spent the entire trip WITH since he also went down to SLO and I also shared hotels with him for Fanime. Awesome host, will do again. 10/10. I have another button from someone else but I accidentally included it wit my fanime merch pile photos, so it’ll be along shortly.

The dreamcatcher was made by SlimeMush’s friend who I paid $10 for, and for some mysterious reason it kept being returned to him every time he tried to send it to me. I couldn’t get a good pic of it alone because my cat kept attacking the feathers. SlimeMush also gave me the Flareon button! Apparently all the Eeveelutions he had went to those whose favourite was so-and-so, and apparently there’s equal amounts of love for all of them except for the two he kept himself because he loved them the most. Yes. Flareon is my favourite. :D

The gacha is a ditto + a ditto version of Sableye. 

This Monster Hunter blindbox was given to me by Wolfe, whom I’ve had a few MonHun merch exchanges with so far. I also gave him a MonHun figure from another line, which I’ll elaborate further (because I gave them all out similar to SlimeMush giving out the Eeveelution buttons) and kept whichever was left behind. This is Monoblos! I didn’t fight him all too often so I don’t have much impression of it as a monster, also I thought he was white but w/e, still very cool looking to add to my collection!

Now of all my loot THIS is the stuff I really could have done without in terms of when and where I spent my money. I bought that Incineroar evolution line figure sort of on a whim at a random city in the middle of nowhere, California while on the long drive down to SLO. The Touhou blindboxes, Digimon CD, and RWBY manga came from Kinokuniya in Japantown. Just wanted to buy them because. Even if the Tri series was mediocre in the end the nostalgia still has a strong grip on my heart, especially that music with Kouji Wada. ;_;

And the most touristy thing was buying this wind chime at a gift shop in a spa that I really didn’t need but it was pretty so w/e.

As much as I have been distancing myself from the show, RWBY’s manga has wondrous art. It also decided to focus on some random unknown side character named Ruby instead of the main characters, which I thought while was quite the bold move, was rather refreshing.

So yeah I went to the island prison in San Francisco where AAAAAALL the tourists go. In my defence I have a genuine interest in prisons. Just ask my 300k RWBY fanfiction in which the first quarter of it is set in a prison. It is also not my first prison fic. I put lots of research in that setting to write that kind of shit. 

Also all the souvenirs were the most gimmicky things possible that I didn’t think I’d ever use or would just be paperweight. Except this bag! I may actually use this bag! I know!

And excluding the stuff that is too big or I forgot to take a pic of near the beginning of the post, THIS was the Fanime loot! Magus got me the Monokuma onesie which was extremely nice of him and now I am no longer perpetually cold. Ah yes the warmth of the hide of a psychotic bear. So good.

I could not believe the artist who made one of my favourite Aya pics EVER was at the artist alley. I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT. Obviously this was an instant purchase. This was my phone background for the longest of times. She had Touhou artbooks too but they sold in the first twenty minutes of the first day of the artist alley. Wow. My friend may try to snag me some at AX in July, so here’s hoping!

I didn’t see a lot of specifically Weiss prints there, and this was the best of the lot IMO. My only wish was that it was a brighter print, or that Weiss herself being so white would stand out more because it’s the least noticeable thing on my wall atm, which is a shame. 

I say this when I saw precisely ONE Aya print (jackpot) and one of another coming up in this bombardment of pics.

THIS IS PERHAPS THE MOST PROVOCATIVE ONE HERE LOL. But it was the only Tenko, and DRV3 merch was the most difficult of everything I was looking for to find. Unlike 95% of Tenko art SHE ACTUALLY HAS VISIBLE ABS HERE, which according to the official artbooks she’s supposed to have, so bonus points for that. I had a brief discussion with the artist too and we both agreed Tenko was the best and Ouma was overrated. He has great taste.

Overwatch on the other hand was all over the place in this con, from merch to art, to cosplayers. There were so many cosplayers they didn’t even have enough time to run through half of the tanks and all the supports at the shoot! So sad, so sad. This piece of Widowmaker is beautiful though, so I had to have it.

I saw this online a while back and really loved this image of all the Overwatch ladies being formal. There was a suit-version too, but for whatever reason I preferred this one. Sadly this print is quite small, as it probably would have benefited the most in being larger what with the many characters and thus detail.

Out of all this mess the one thing I wanted the most and hunted for the most was charms. I found NO GOOD CHARMS that fitted my taste and interest, and the closest were these buttons. Oh, and I met my good friend Raphyninja at Fanime and he gave me EXCLUSIVE RAPHYNINA MERCH! Thus that button being here and not in the friendo pile. ANYWAY. There was a deal, 3 for 5, so aside from the obvious ones I grabbed Kork. I love Kork. I didn’t think I would for that type of character, but somehow DRV3 managed it. He will of course be very far away from Tenko and Himiko though. >_>

Here’s a page from one of the Touhou doujins I got, which in hindsight I maybe should not have got? Way too late I noticed that I recognized the seller who I think showed up on a Tumblr post warning of a creeper at the Touhou shoots. He’d try to take pics of cosplayers in a private hotel room at weird, uncomfortable angles as far as I remember, so uh, oops? I was just so excited at finding Touhou doujin for the first time ever that I paid zero attention to the person selling so hopefully I am wrong and they were just someone that resembled that person.

Also I recognized this artist for their cute Satori Koishi content, but could not find any of their Koishi doujins. Sadness.

I bought two Monster Hunter blindboxes at Fanime because CLEARLY I need more, right. I got a Nargacuga, including the box left remaining in the pile I gave away and the one I already have...  I now have three Nargacugas. That’s quite a lot for something I never fought before...

I also got this tiny Zinogre. If we include my buttons I have FOUR Nargacugas now and FOUR Zinogres. The difference is I have fought Zinogre multiple times (I have no idea exactly because I have 600 hours in 4U >_>) and actually really like him! Sadly, in grand tradition like the last time I visited San Francisco (when I was five) I lost something, that being my favourite MonHun button, Zinogre. It is now in the wild with my teddy bear and my hat, forever gone in the California abyss. ):

I got this at the swap meet for 6 dollars. It may not have a stand and is rather dusty, but damn is that a bargain. My only regret is not having the GIGA DRILL BREAKAAAA model instead. I also got that Monokuma bag there too, but that was just because I went there and couldn’t find a single thing I wanted until I saw the bag, which I was on the fence on but wanted to buy SOMETHING from there and got it, thinking that was it ... but then this and the Touhou doujins showed up, soooooo...

Finally this other Nargacuga that was left behind became my monster in that line of figures, the rest in the hands of my friends. It’s actually cuter than I expected, and barely fit in this cheap crappy display case I bought at a Daiso. I moved my dresser a nudge and the Pokemon fell over, so yeah. 

You may have noticed a drop in quality in the photos and that’s because I cannot be bothered to touch up such a gargantuan amount of images anymore, not with the time I have. Would be nice tho. SO, THAT IS THE GIANT POST OF SPOTTO’S MERCH, NOW WITH 100% MORE QUANTITY THAN BEFORE! I spent too much money so I might as well get something out of it by BRAGGING about it! Right?

How could you trust him though? He’s a stranger after all. Though, you are abruptly woken from your deep thoughts by his (attempt) of an introduction.

“I’m..Shuichi Saihara. The Ultimate Detective, or that’s just what they like to say..” He said this in a self-loathing way. You guess there’s really no other choice than to introduce yourself aswell and converse.

Introduction (part 2): Braids

While part one of the introduction made us know a little more about our main character Oumae Aya and the captain of the dance troupe Matsuhide Junko, part two will be focusing on her best friend, Hayama Asuka (And our beloved Noya as well). Anyway, on with business, here’s part two of the introduction: Braids.

Aya had decided to braid her hair once more this day. Since all of the members of her club had told her how cute she looked like that, she guessed it wouldn’t hurt to do it again. Little did she know that it would make her be recognized in the school, two days after their pep-rally dance. When she let her hair down, nobody had seemed to notice she had just danced for the whole school. She didn’t know how braids made it any different, but apparently it did. As she was walking in the hallways, some first-year girls approached her and staggered some congratulations. The fact that Aya looked like first-year herself had seemed to give them the courage to speak to her.  

“Thank you for your comments, girls. Be sure to check out our next performances… and maybe join the troupe on the next occasion?” she told them, trying her best to sound as sweet as possible. The two girls nodded eagerly and walked away.

She knew by the looks she was given in the hallways that she had just shattered the rumor that had been spreading since their performance. It said that she wasn’t from the school and that the coach had hired her. She had laughed really hard when her friends told her about it at yesterday’s practice. Did she go so unnoticed? Well, she was pretty small, no wonder she came under the others’ line of sight. Still being her usual self, which meant not really comfortable with a lot of attention, she picked up the pace and made it to class 2-3, trying to be as discreet as possible. Her seat was located near the door, contributing to her being withdrawn from the action. Next to her was a friend that she had met on the dance troupe, Hayama Asuka. Always smiling and very pretty (and possessing the feminine assets she didn’t have), she was doing a great job at attracting all the attention. Aya was in her shadow most of the time… and she was completely fine with that!

“Oumae-chan! You braided your hair again! You look so cute like this!” she cooed upon seeing her. Aya instantly blushed, muttering a thanks as she quickly took her seat, not wanting to focus on the eyes that had turned towards her at the sudden outburst of her best friend.

“Don’t do that! You deserve to be noticed at some point! People thought you weren’t even from here two days ago,” Asuka had lowered her voice, realising she had made her friend uncomfortable.

“But the rumor that was spread was so funny…” the braided girl half-whispered, half-whined.

“Oumae-chan! You braided your hair again! You look so cute like this!”

Upon hearing this sudden outburst, Nishinoya and his classmates turned around to notice the ever-so-bright Asuka along with an unknown braided individual. However, it was at the sight of the two braided twin-tails that he remembered the dance performance that he had seen a few days ago. He hadn’t forgotten the small figure and large dark eyes that had ignited the scene and captured his attention for a fleeting moment. It was her! And she was in his class! And he hadn’t noticed her? How could that be? He couldn’t help but stare for a while as she blushed a cute blush and sat down in a hasty manner.

“Isn’t she from the dance troupe as well?” asked the classmate seated next to him, pulling the small libero out of his daydream.

As he was about to answer, the teacher hushed the class to silence and started taking attendance. For once, Yuu paid attention while waiting for her full name to be called.

“Oumae Aya.” The name was called out and the petite girl stood up, a small response escaping her lips. She must have felt the small boy’s glare on her, because she turned her head around in his direction. He escaped her sight just in time.

Surprisingly, he did not sleep in class that morning. Maybe he was thinking about something, like how he would go up to her at lunch time.

The classes had went by in a breeze. It soon was lunch-time and chairs suddenly weren’t as aligned as they were. Bentos were spread on the tables and skirts were re-shortened as the teachers weren’t looking. Asuka and Aya were chatting leisurely as the minutes of the lunch hour passed. They were sitting in front of each other, only talking together as none of their other friends ended up in their class.

“Apparently today’s practice is going to be a little different! Coach Furuhata said we’d be changing the choreography a bit…”

“I hope we can all get it right for the upcoming competitions…”

A pair of hands smashed on the table, catching both girls off guard and making them scream a loud “Eek!” in unison.

“Oops… sorry! I didn’t mean to surprise you…”

“Nishinoya-san! What the hell?” shouted Asuka, frowning.

The guy scratched the back of his head. Maybe nervousness had made him a little too eager. The little brunette of his interest cleared her throat. Before she could speak, he went on.

“Oumae-san! I’m sorry I didn’t recognize you earlier. You were the front dancer at the pep rally, right?”

“Um… yes…” she answered, not sure where he was going with his question.

“Awesome! You are really talented, Oumae-san! I didn’t know you were like that… I mean, not that you don’t look like someone who…”

Seeing he was getting mixed up and feeling a little left out, Asuka intervened:

“Isn’t our little Aya-chan super cute? It’s a shame she didn’t get noticed much so far…”

“I’m sorry for not realising you were in my class earlier… Anyway, nice to meet you, I’m Nishinoya Yuu! And I look forward to talking more to you,” he introduced himself. Something about Aya’s neutral face made him nervous. What was she thinking?

“Nice to meet you, too,” she answered, giving him a small smile. Why exactly was he sorry? She didn’t quite know, but figured she could just let it slip. “Please don’t surprise us like that next time, I almost fell off my chair.” A small giggle escaped her lips.

“Uh… alright… I’ll… let you finish your lunch alone, I’m sorry for interrupting you!” He was about to dash off when Asuka called his name.

“Nishinoya-san! Sit with us next time! Aya-chan is a little shy at first, but don’t worry, she doesn’t bite!”

“Hey! I’m here, you know…” Oumae growled at her best friend.

The tall blonde’s words seemed to kick the libero back into confidence. He beamed a smile and gave them a thumbs up. “I’ll make sure to!” he replied.

The girls sat back and enjoyed a small silence. Aya cursed under her breath… Asuka hadn’t gotten over what she had told her in their first year of high school. They were in the same class and the small brunette had confessed that she thought Nishinoya was ‘the cutest boy of their year’, but that he seemed so popular that she would never dare talk to him. And there she was, grabbing the opportunity by the horns…

“Don’t make that face! You would have died to let that happen a year ago,” Asuka whispered to her.

“Just great…” was all that came out of her.
