I'm watching Amon's side story in Lullaby of Demonia and why tf is the MC just sucking ass rn. Like "I wonder if he can still get redeemed?" Girl, he literally SAed you. Not to mention, he killed thousands of other innocent people, including his dad.

And look, I know Lucifer is far from being the best father as they discussed a tad bit of Lucifer's favouritism with Alastor because he was spurred out of Lucifer's one and true love, Rosaria, and the rest of his wives are just ignored. But like, the rest of his brothers turned out fine despite having gone through the same conditions (relatively, Valec did still bad shit but did turn away from it and Ifrit just constantly slept with succubi and drank all day before meeting MC). I doubt it's solely Luci's fault and Amon's personality is still bad, especially considering the other brothers still find him killing Luci just straight-up revolting and they still respect their dad. I think Lucifer would've just had favouritism and negligence (more or less) to any child who wasn't Alastor which I doubt is enough to do what Amon did.

Your other brothers went through the same shit you did, stop trying to pin the blame on your father for your bad behaviour when you could've used your brothers to actually console each other and have a group that completely understands your situation and use that as a support group. You're literally the third-born, you definitely had Malthus to talk to.

Nocturne of Nightmares on the Otomania app is so good oml. It’s my favorite. It was one of the first ones I’ve read and one of the only three I’ve replayed, the others being Mall of the Dead and Attack of the Dead.

Hot take: I wish the villains in Soul of Yokai had more of a point

It would've been way more nuanced than just "Yokai think humans bad and they're wrong".

Spoilers ahead

Considering the main theme of the VN is about prejudice and racism, I think there were fumbles in the narrative to make humans completely innocent (from what we've seen).

The idea that Yokai just hate humans with little-to-no reason is sort of odd. We're given very little explanation. Onimaru made one comment that they took over their resources but that's vague and opens up questions that never get answered. And Nami's betrayal could've fed into the hate but I doubt that she was the original reason Yokai hate humans. (If Sakuya was a well-known figure that news would've spread like wildfire, that is).

I would've liked the idea that humans actually did do something against the Yokai. We all know how much human in real life are racist and prejudiced. It's not hard to believe that humans wouldn't have treated Yokai different when they tried to make contact with humans.

I imagine that it happened like centuries ago, around the time where Japan was isolating itself from the rest of the world. So when the Yokai made contact with humans through the Cave of Time, they were met with hate and fear and told to go back to where they came from (some Yokai probably got hurt or died). This, of course, leads to the Yokai hating humans.

However, years have passed since and humans are more tolerant (not completely since there are racist people out there). But their actions have not been forgotten (likely because the Yokai who were there are still alive).

See how this gives a reasonable perspective to why the Yokai don't like the humans? It would've made their hate more nuanced, especially because the protagonist isn't a Yokai. It gives more of the Yokai perspective and why they're so unwilling to accept them. I feel like it's easier to just write racism and prejudice concerning villains and make them hate them for the sake of hating them than just making a nuanced and more grey angle to their hate. It's just boring to write in this prejudice and never really explain it nor have any Yokai question why they're hating humans if there's very little reason.

And I'm going to say it, but I think Nami also should've played a part in this. I feel like season 2 just wiped out any aspect that humans can be bad and left the story without nuance. Sure, there's Kaito but only Hayato meets him who's half human and Kaito is never really known by the other cast (with the exception of Tamen).

I think having a genuinely bad human should exist in Soul of Yokai. Humans are shitty. Humans even treat other humans like shit. I think Nami would've been proof that not all humans are good and shown just as much Sakuya, Onimaru and Hebionna are awful, there are humans who are the same. And I think it would've served a better arc for Sakuya to realise that not all humans will accept him/treat him nicely but that's no reason to wipe out all of them, including the ones who will accept and love him and to not let one bad human ruin the rest of them for him.

Okay but what I actually like about Lucifer's past design is that it actually looks like you're looking into his past self.

I am so tired of when Genius Inc game, we get to see the past selves of characters and they haven't changed at all.

Even Alastor falls prey to this unfortunately.

Like, you're looking into their past, this is a moment to be creative and brainstorm how they could've changed. Like maybe they didn't have a sense of style/their sense of style was different when they were younger or they looked plainer because they wanted to blend in more but they became more bolder.

And I think an especially missed opportunity of this is Sakuya in Soul of Yokai.

The first image is Sakuya as a loving, idealistic, brave, "perfect", human-loving leader. The second image is Sakuya as a human-hating, ruthless, cynical, selfish murderer. And yet, the only difference is his eyepatch and wings, which weren't even caused by himself.

I don't know. I just feel it would've been a good time to give him different clothes because it would've shown his personality change. Sakuya's clothes scream "I'm evil!" So I think that giving him clothes that suggest "I'm trustworthy." or "I'm kind and gentle." would've been better to express that Sakuya in the picture is not the Sakuya you know in the game.

Great. He got stupidly distinguished and hotter.
