So here's my thoughts on Season 1 Episode 1 of Aramis in Space Picard after my third rewatch. MAJOR SPOILER WARNINGS.

(NOTE: This is from someone who has not grown up with Star Trek. I took a crash course on some Star Trek lore including the Borg and the Romulan supernova before starting on this show. Don't judge me.)

The cinematography is so cool. Like it's just so......good. From the opening dream sequence to the revelation of the Borg Cube in the end, that was art on screen.

Jeff Russo, I love you. I have rewatched the first episode thrice now and never once did I skip that opening theme. Neither will I for the rest of the episodes, something that hasn't happened with me since The Musketeers.

Number One is a good boi.

Those Romulans are a pair of motherhens.

"Romulan lives." "No....lives." This gives me goosebumps. Everytime. I can see why Trekkies love Picard so much. Seriously, this is a man I will follow anywhere.

Some people are complaining that the pacing drags too much but honestly, as someone who is a novice to all the Trek lore, the leisurely pacing actually allowed me to process all the information dumps and technical jargons. Yes, this show is clearly made for hard-core Trek fans, but I am glad they also take their time explaining everything to make room for the newbies.
