if you're at work or doing something else and don't know how frequently you'll be able to reply, or how consistently, then that defeats the purpose of "back and forth"--otherwise it's not all that different from regular threads.

When I say "back and forth" I mean not a lot of time between (short) replies. Not, like, YOU HAVE TO REPLY IMMEDIATELY, but the name of the game is momentum. If it takes like 20, 30 minutes for a response, that kinda defeats the purpose.
