As a shy music lover, I struggled to find platforms to express myself. That's why I created RunawayMuse – to provide a safe space for fellow teens to collaborate, create, and share their voices.

Drag Me Down online band version, I need some singers!

I got the idea from kristineku to make an online band type of thing and upload videos on youtube, similar to this video. But less professional of course, and not acapella. Maybe looking something like this:

I love Drag me Down a bunch and think most of my followers know the song so let’s try with that one first! So now I’m looking for some singers, 3 preferably, who want to record themselves singing and send it to me. The aim is to have one person for each vocal part of Liam, Louis, Niall and Harry with the arrangement they have in the original song, to our best abilities (might not be too easy since we aren’t in the same room..)

So if you want to join in, this is what you need to do first:

Check my bio first to make sure there are still parts left to take in the song, and which ones are left to choose from. I’m singing the part that gets picked last, so if two are left it’s actually only one.

Listen to Drag Me Down and decide whose vocals you’d like to sing. We’ll sing it in a different pitch though, so listen also to my guitar recording to make sure what part fits you.

Dm me whose vocals you want to sing and I’ll hold that part for you until you send me the video. Send me your email address so I can add you to my google drive folder where you can upload your video. You might need a gmail address for that, I’m not all sure yet, let’s try with what you have first. I’d prefer if you uploaded the video in the next 3 days or so, just to make sure it gets done. After that if you don’t do it I might give the part to someone else (unless you have a good reason to wait, I’m not too harsh haha).

What exactly will you sing..?:

I tried to find an acapella version of DMD to easier hear who sings what, but couldn’t find one. I think looking at the video is the best option since they actually film who is singing which part, so you can probably figure out what you are supposed to sing. It might be easier to sing along to another version of my recording:

You are allowed to change things up the way you see fit for your part, but my suggestion might help you get an idea of what it could sound like. You might want to change to a different octave or change the back up singing completely or something, it’s up to you. It would be great if you could sing along to the “Hey”s in the chorus and the backup singing “ooooh-oh-oooooh...” in the second and third build-up (like I do in the recordings) if you are not singing anything else at that point.

Recording:

First make sure you practiced your part (obviously hehe)

Plug your headphones in and listen to one of my versions on soundcloud while you sing, I’d suggest the one with guitar and drums.

Record a video of when you sing with you phone. It’s good if there is some time before you start singing in the recording of the video. But don’t let it be longer than say 5 minutes because it will take forever to upload to google drive otherwise. You can probably edit your video in your phone if it gets too long before you upload it.

Make sure the surroundings are quiet so your phone picks up your singing! And it is also important that you sing loud enough, no whispering, to cover any background static. Sing medium loud to energetic to get a powerful vibe in the song. Listen to your recording afterwards, does it sound loud enough, does it get distorted? Maybe you need to stand a bit away from the phone if you are singing really loudly.

It would be even better if you could record your vocals with a microphone if you have one. In that case, record into a music editing program and upload that audio file to me. But you still need to record a video too, at the same time. It’s ok if you see the microphone/headphones/whatever there is (messy room perhaps?) in the video.

Please name your files by your first name or the name of whose part you have before you upload them.

I’ll upload the video to my youtube and put links to your social media in the description if you want it.
