aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaauauuuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhgggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
#thoughts from hel#so basically i submitted a cover letter with some highlighted text in random colors bc i forgot to unhighlight them before submitting#(i highlight things to remember to change them for each job app but i might have to deprecate that practice after this)#and then i realized and was like oh fuck and i was like well maybe i should just own it y'know. it's me being super innovative and creative#and also since i highlight stuff to change all the highlighted texts were the most relevant parts of the cover letter anyway#but the highlighting job was messy as hell after i dragged sentences to and fro all over it while i was formulating that thing. like#the highlighting started kind of in the middle of my sentence and had extra highlighted spaces and colors n stuff it was. haphazard.#so i was like okay. i probably can't gaslight (by sending psychic vibes to the recruiter-- since it's an online form#with no direct communication between me and them whatsoever) the recruiter into reasonably thinking this highlighting job#was on purpose. so i spent a full like TWO EXTRA HOURS spiraling into “can i submit the form twice or should i just take the L on this”#and ultimately submitted it a second time with the fixed letter. uhhh hopefully it was the fixed one but i'm too tired to care now#part of the job description was “attention to detail” so i definitely failed that one the first time around but the recruiter#who reads (hopefully. because with how saturated the job market is now they might not even do that) my apps#had BETTER see all the fucking attention to detail i paid to making sure my decision to resubmit would be a good one#telepathically. of course. (the difference between overthinking and attention to detail is how much you are appreciated)#i literally went on so many forums and the help page for the recruiting application website thing to find out how exactly they handled#duplicate applications bro i could RECITE this shit to anyone now. fuck#time to go to sleep. tomorrow is a new day. with ten+ more companies to apply to. 👍

The Start of the Post-Modern Sonic Era
As time passes... Sonic Frontiers feels unreal to me. I still feel the psychic ripples that game made in the minds of thousands. Hearing about the physics nonstop. the buzzwords echoed in my brain for months... the rips at the English script-writing. It drove me to near madness. It was hard talking to people who weren't as deep in it as I was at that time... But I look back these days and I can't help but feel like the madness was exactly what I wanted. I can't make peace with this game like many others have, but I can't hate this game, I can't act like I'm indifferent to it. It did something to me that I can't dissect into a science. I don't feel like it's fair to try and categorize the feelings I have about it's writing into the set of ideals I've made for what I want these characters to be. I can't rule this one out... it broke the stagnant mold for me. An "Open-Zone" Sonic game with hyper-realistic environments, patch-worked with floating platforms and rails in the sky, janky camera movements and overtly flashy attacks for an unbalanced combat system, reused level design for one minute stages, hamfisted self-referential dialogue that had me groaning at points, a narrative that felt spread thin and disjointed, answering questions that didn't need answering. And it didn't even have Momentum. And yet... it is everything to me. AND NOW FOR THE CHILDHOOD HISTORY OF BLINGUS For the 20 years I've been alive, about 18 of those years I have spent with this deeply rooted attachment to Sonic. I was deeply fortunate as my cousin and my half-brother both had a Genesis with each of their own collection of games respectively, which of course, meant a lot of Sonic games. I was also gifted with having two brothers, who I dubbed as "the one with the GameCube" and "the one with the PS2". From age 2 (2006) to age 6 (2010), I had already created formative memories with the following: Sonic 1 Sonic 2 Sonic Underground Sonic 3D Blast Sonic Rush Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood Sonic Spinball Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine Sonic Heroes Sonic CD Sonic Adventure DX Sonic X Shadow The Hedgehog Sonic Rush Adventure Sonic Riders Sonic Unleashed Sonic Colors
These aren't even counting the games and shows I had learnt of online as a child who ABSOLUTELY shouldn't of been on the internet at such a young age but I digress. I just want to highlight the sheer amount of Sonic I took in in that time-frame. I think this chapter in my life planted the ideals that I hold to this very day, even throughout the madness. The problem is that... I don't even truly know what those ideals are. As I've grown I've played these games countless times, along with every game coming out after. I read the comics, I watched the shows, I got invested into the rom-hacking scene, and from there, the Fangame scene. My life changed and grew and my opinions of these games have shifted time and time and time again. Those roots never grew dry for me though, and I feel as if I owe my young self a lot for making memories with these games. Maybe it's a fear of losing innocence? It could be because I'm autistic as fuck? Maybe it's just love. Love for what these games represent for me, Love for what could've been. Loving it for what it is, what it was, loving it because people made it and that's all that matters. Loving to draw it, to find why others love it, and to open my mind to interpretation. Loving it to hate it, to write about it and talk to your friend's about it. To find out what made it tick, what's been lost over the years and how it's found again. Loving it because Super Sonic is raw as fuck and Shadow likes nu-metal hell yeah Oh yeah this was about Sonic Frontiers Well okay yeah the game is kinda mid but It's raw as hell and it's representation of growth and change is as prevalent in the narrative as it is in the eyes of the people. It made a ripple. Did Sonic Lost World make a ripple? Yes it did you fucking asshole

One Undead To Another (Chapter 11)
Gus sleeps for most of the day, and when he wakes up he immediately calls Father Wesley.
“Gus! What a surprise, how’re you doing?”
“I’m uh… yeah, anyway.”
“Oh. That bad?”
“Father, what do you know about vampires? Specifically how to proof a home against them?”
“Vampires? I’m afraid I’m less versed in vampires than demons, my boy. For one thing, demons are real.”
“Well… how would I keep a demon that acts like a vampire out of my house?”
“Rephrasing it doesn’t change my sphere of knowledge, Gus. However, I would generally advise keeping holy items very near your person. Do you have anything like a rosary necklace?”
“No. I’ll look for one online.”
“Good, good. Now, if you’re truly convinced an unholy creature is out for you, I also advise keeping a bible in every room, and staying far away from any demonic or occult activity or items.”
“Way ahead of you. … Kind of.”
“What else, ahum… I can bless a bottle of water for you over the phone.”
“That works?”
“I don’t see why it shouldn’t.”
“Alright, holy water… now, do you know where to get bedsheets with crosses all over them?”
“Not personally… but I know several of the students here at the university have asked during confession if sleeping on bedsheets with Jesus’s face on them is a sin, so I believe you’ll find what you need online or in specialty shops.”
“Great. Now, let’s talk about the ethics of using bible pages as wallpaper.”
—-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“God.” Shawn waits. Nothing.
“Oh my go-” Immediate coughing, ash puffing out as he tries to cover his mouth.
“Okay,” he wheezes. He picks up the receipt, his own handwriting now following Gus’s as he adds to the list. He adds Can’t claim God to it. Good thing he doesn’t believe in God anyway. Should he? Probably not. Is Gus going to keep believing in God after all this? The vampire thing is kind of confirming his existence, but the psychic thing is negating it, so… what’s even the deal there?
“Any chance anyone wants to clear that up for me?”
No vision, voices, or Feelings.
“Great. Well, my throat is just about shot.” More than, actually– he’s pretty sure it’s bleeding from how dry it is, especially now. “Any chance I can receive a little divine guidance on how to not kill people and get some blood at the same time? Blood bank doesn’t count, that’s a cop-out and a cliche.”
“... Come on. Give me something to work with. I’m not– I’m not used to being this… this lost, okay? I…”
Died. Made a bad decision, got into a bad situation, and died. No clever last-minute saves, no stalling until Lassie and Jules got there, no sitting in The Blueberry knowing he would store the incident away as Another Fun Anecdote.
He died.
And now he could hurt the people he loves most. And he’s always been reckless, and impulsive, and inconsiderate of consequence, and it’s gotten his loved ones into trouble in the past, but now that trouble is him and it feels…
… It actually feels worryingly normal, just… more present. The little twist, whisper, condemnation in the back of his head whenever something went horribly wrong and everyone else paid for it is stronger now. And that means he should start really listening to it.
But it’s all he’s listening to, apparently. He scoffs. “Fine. I’ll figure it out myself.
He gets on his bike and heads for the Psych office. Sure, he could do his research at home, but he always works better in the office anyway.
—-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When Juliet wakes up, the first thing she does is call her partner.
“O’Hara?”
“Carlton, how much do either of us know about vampires?”
“I read Dracula once in highschool.”
“That’s what I was afraid of… we’re going to need to either do our own research, or rely on Gus to direct us how to handle this.”
“Way ahead of you, O’Hara.”
“... How?”
“I called McNab to tell him to look for any preserved journals or personal items in the remains of that mansion. By the way, apparently Spencer told the whole department we’re sick.”
“Oh my god, that’s right, he went down there. Did Buzz say anything? Did Shawn act… okay?”
“He said Spencer kept his motorcycle helmet on the whole time and sounded like someone took a sander to his throat.”
“Buzz said that.”
“Well… I’m paraphrasing.”
“Right. Okay, well, hopefully Buzz finds something for us. But we should make a plan for if he doesn’t.”
“How? The only source of information we can actually consider even moderately reliable is whatever that cult left behind.”
“Well, I’m about ninety percent sure that as soon as Gus vampire-proofs his house, he and Shawn will start doing incredibly stupid and dangerous experiments to test what’s real and what’s not.”
“Undoubtedly.”
“We’ll have to offer to help.”
—-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Today of all days,” Chief Vick mutters, sorting through files to make room for the one coming in later. “Henry, I know this isn’t exactly in your job description but–”
“I’ll visit the scene, Karen.”
“Thank you. With your son and both of my best detectives out today, we may as well be looking at a cold case without your help. Now, the house burned down is the same one they all visited in connection with the three murders from earlier this week. Lassiter and O’Hara had dismissed the residents as suspects, but in my opinion this feels like some kind of act of revenge. We’ve got a reported six bodies, all burnt to nothing but ash and bones.”
“Ash and bones, huh?” Henry seems to mull something over in his head, pursing his lips and nodding. “Any witness reports?”
“None, it’s a secluded area. Even the road leading up to the driveway is practically abandoned.”
“Why would anyone live in an area like that?”
“Your son thought it was because the group staying there weren’t planning on sticking around for long.”
“Because of the murders.”
“Precisely. You know, I have to say I didn’t understand Lassiter and O’Hara’s hunches, on this one. I think your son was onto something. I I want you keeping an eye out for signs of other foul play while you’re there, anything that suggests these investors weren’t being honest, about their intentions for visiting.”
“Nothing suspicious slips by me, Karen. You know that.”
“Good. Now get going.”
—-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
McNab picks over the remains of the basement, eyes wide as he pulls out another horror-movie style wiggle-bladed dagger. “Detective Lassiter is going to be really upset he’s missing out on this search.”
“DIdn’t even know the guy could get sick,” the crime CSI guy says, snapping a photo of one of the piles of bones. “Or the psychic. Or Detective O’Hara. The other guy, yeah.”
“I know. Shawn getting sick seems impossible. … Should we send them all a get-well card?”
“Yeah, sure, and I’ll let Lassiter know I’ve got a squirrel feeder in my yard.”
“... I’m going to pick one up on the way back to the station.”
—-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Henry pulls up to Gus’s apartment complex, walks up to the door, and knocks.
He hears a cough (too immediate, too rough, he can practically hear Gus dramatically doubling over like when he and Shawn were kids playing something that involved them dying), a “One second!” and then footsteps.
Gus answers the door in a hastily thrown on robe (belt is loosely tied, button-up shirt clearly visible underneath) and sleep slippers (the toe cover is bent on the left one, Gus shoved them on in a panic). “Mr. Spencer?” (forced raspiness to the voice, he coughs into his hand like he’s on a soap opera, no visible irritation in his throat when he’s coughing).
“Gus. Yeah, Shawn swung by earlier, said you were all sick, figured I’d check in and make sure this wasn’t some lame-ass stunt to get out of a case he was being blocked on.”
“Oh, uh, no. No, all must’ve caught someone from one of the suspects, maybe.”
“Yeah, Shawn sounded like hell. You uh, sound a little less under weather, though.”
“My immune system is just highly evolved.”
“Mmm-hmm. You know, Shawn’s throat was really the only symptom he had, actually. He had his helmet on the whole time, too.”
“Forgetting to take his bike helmet off doesn’t seem like a symptom to you?”
“Kid, he forgot to put on pants before coming to me for advice last week.”
“Right. Well um–” His rasp is slipping, voice going in and out of its normal sound. “– I’m going to go back to bed now.”
“Sure, sure. Just wanted to double-check. Oh, and uh, before I go.”
“Yes?”
“Where were you and Shawn last night?”
Gus’s face doesn’t know what to do– so he’s thinking about how to react. He settles on confusion after a beat. “Well, I was in bed all night. Sawing logs, counting sheep, catching sweet Z’s, snoring up a storm.”
“And Shawn?”
“Not sure. Probably doing the same, or watching a horror movie.”
“Horror movie.”
“Or, any, movie.”
“... Alright. Well, rest up, we’ve got a big update in your current case. House of a group of suspects burned down last night.”
“What? Oh… no!”
Henry smirks. Just like he remembers from the school plays. “Bye, Guster.”
He leaves, and hears the door slam shut behind him. His smirk falls off as he goes over the information in his head. It’s all adding up to a concerning picture.
He’s certain was there, at that house, while it burned down. The raspy throat is obviously because he inhaled smoke and ash, the refusal to take off the helmet probably to hide signs of an altercation, and ‘everyone being sick’ just about waves a big old flag saying ‘FOUR PARTY COVER-UP’ in his face. He doubts Shawn would burn a place down on purpose, but the old ‘grease fire in the bathroom distraction’ is a plan Shawn’s thrown out more than once, both in his childhood and adulthood.
And this time, six people ended up dead.
But why would Lassiter and Juliet cover that up for him? Gus, that’s no surprise, Juliet is, but Lassiter is the most perplexing part of this puzzle.
He gets into the black-and-white and turns on the siren so he can get to the scene as fast as possible. His son might’ve accidentally manslaughter six people pulling a dumb stunt to fake psychic with. He’ll be damned if he lets Officer McNab find evidence of that before he does.
He needs to gather enough to confront Shawn with, after all.

Doing a lil rebrand. This is the blog previously known as jimmy-dipthong. After coming out as agender, I've kept my gendered birth name irl (which is not jimmy, fyi) cause I don't have thaat much of a problem with the gendered aspect of it, and I like it quite a bit. But I didn't see a reason why not to go fully gender neutral online. Haru is a short version of my middle name, and is a very gender neutral japanese name (like Alex in english I guess).
Tumblr media
New pic! I redrew my profile pic to actually include me, and to update the images in the background to better represent more recent developments in the blog.
The first thing you’ll probably notice is that yotsuba is gone! Replaced by a drawing of me in the same style. Here’s some selfies :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I felt like I wanted to express more of irl me in my blog’s identity.
Here’s a rundown of the changes to the stuff in the background of the new profile pic:
翻訳こんにゃく!(top left) A reference to Doraemon, it represents the art of translation. I feel like my blog has been veering slightly away from language acquisition and into translation as my proficiency in Japanese has evolved, so it seemed fitting to show that.
Dice (mid left) I haven’t really posted about tabletop game design, but I still want to represent it in the blog. Maybe when Crown of Thieves gets picked up by a publisher I’ll talk more about it (manifesting manifesting)
Abstract art of a burger (top right) It’s been quite some time since I’ve posted explicitly about my quest to understand what a “burger” is, but I feel it’s an important part of the blog’s identity. Every post I make takes me a step further in understanding semiotics, definitions, and the effect of the linguistic domain on understanding.
Agender flag (bottom right) I’m posting more about gender, since I’m currently obsessed with learning more about the theory. It’s interesting how easily it has slotted into all the theorising I’ve been doing about semiotics and translation! Everything is the same as everything else!
Blobfish (bottom left) More on this in a later post. The blobfish is a metaphor, representing how the pure meaning that exists in the psychic plane is ruptured and disfigured by its forcible extraction into the linguistic domain. In other words, the meaning of a word gets super fucked up when you try to write a definition for it.
Anyway thanks to everyone who follows and reads the blog! よろしくおねがいします!

💸 Are Online Psychic Readings Actually Affordable? Let's Find Out! 💫
Tumblr media
Online psychic readings are blowing up right now—seriously, who wouldn't want to get some spiritual guidance without even leaving their couch? But let's be real, are they actually affordable, or are we just wishfully thinking? 🤔 Let’s break it down and see what’s really going on with these prices and whether they're worth your cash. 💸✨
Before we dive into all that, let me drop something cool—ever feel like you need answers ASAP? You can Chat with Online Psychics 24/7! Whether you're looking for quick insights or just some spiritual reassurance, connecting with a psychic whenever you need could totally change your game. Wanna know more? Check this out:
Alright, so here’s the tea: Prices for online psychic readings are all over the place. Some psychics charge like $1 per minute, while others are out here asking for $20 or more per minute! 😲 Why the difference? A lot of it comes down to things like the psychic’s experience, how famous they are, and which platform they’re using.
Speaking of platforms, they can really mess with the price too! If you’re hitting up big-name sites, they usually have set pricing structures. You might get lucky with special offers or intro rates, but remember, these platforms usually take a cut of what the psychic makes, so you might end up paying a bit more. On the flip side, if you go with an independent psychic through their website or social media, the pricing can be more flexible—and you might even score some discounts! 🤑
Experience and specialization are a big deal too. If you’re after a psychic who’s been around the block a few times or one who’s a specialist in something like love readings or mediumship, expect to pay a bit more. These psychics have put in the time to really hone their skills, so their insights might go deeper, which can justify the higher price. But hey, if you’re just looking for a general reading, you probably don’t need to go for the top-dollar options! 💵💫
What you’re looking for in a reading can also affect the cost. A straightforward tarot reading? Usually more affordable. An in-depth mediumship session where the psychic connects with spirits? That’ll cost you more. 😇 Even email readings can be cheaper since they don’t require live interaction, making it easier for the psychic to manage their time and lower the cost for you!
Now, let’s talk time vs. quality. It’s easy to think that a longer reading means better value, but that’s not always true. Some psychics are just that good and can give you spot-on insights in a short session, so paying a bit more for a quick hit might be totally worth it. It’s all about finding the right balance. ⏳✨
Oh, and don’t sleep on those special offers and discounts! One of the perks of online psychic readings is that many psychics and platforms offer deals to new clients or seasonal discounts. 🛍️ These can make your first reading way more affordable. Plus, buying multiple readings at a discounted rate can save you some serious cash in the long run!
Now, about those free psychic readings—they’re tempting, right? Especially if you’re curious but not ready to drop any cash. But keep in mind, free readings usually don’t go as deep. They might give you a taste of what the psychic can do, but they’re often just a teaser. Still, they’re a great way to see if you vibe with a psychic before spending any money. 🌟
So, are online psychic readings affordable? The answer really depends on what you’re looking for and how much you’re willing to invest. “Affordable” doesn’t just mean cheap—it’s about getting good value for your money. 💰 A $1 per minute reading might seem like a steal, but if it doesn’t give you the clarity you need, it’s not really a good deal. On the flip side, a pricier reading that delivers real insights could be worth every penny! 💖
If you’re on a budget, here’s how to find affordable psychic readings: Look for introductory offers—they’re everywhere! Check out package deals, compare prices on different platforms, consider going with independent psychics, and definitely take advantage of free readings to see if a psychic is right for you before committing to a paid session.
In the end, online psychic readings can totally be affordable, but you’ve got to consider all the factors that influence the cost. Whether you’re after a quick tarot reading or a deep dive into your spiritual journey, there’s probably a psychic out there who can meet your needs without breaking the bank. Just do your homework and choose wisely to get the best bang for your buck! 💸🔮✨

i used to be in the loa community and it was miserable lol. i'd have phases of being so inspired and really feeling like things were going to change for the better, only for it to not happen. for a long time i held out, and any 'failures' i had i took it as an opportunity to improve and carry on. but then at some point i just began to spiral--it came out of nowhere--and i felt so, so hopeless. i think with every 'mistake' and failure i had, it built up without me fully realising it. i never told anyone, not online and of course not in real life, because acknowledging it would've been the final nail in the coffin for my 'journey' or whatever.
anyone who voiced their upset about not getting the results they wanted, they'd be told by some blogs that it was because they "weren't persisting enough", and that all they needed to do was continue. any mention of doubt or feeling bad was frowned upon. it sucked. because i sure as hell knew that i was putting my heart and soul into it. i like to view myself as someone who is steadfast, but a person can only handle so much until they crumble. to be fair, it wasn't completely loa's fault for my sudden decline in mental health, there were definitely different factors. but it probably wasn't that healthy for me regardless. burnouts happen ig
in defence of some of the blogs i've been on, there are definitely a few that don't have the regular toxic ideology that a lot of the other blogs do. not all of them take neville goddard's words and teaching as gospel, and some of them actually encourage getting help when you need it and to not rely on loa completely, and they reiterate that any awful things that happened to people wasn't their fault! but i will say that those more healthy loa blogs are more rare and hard to come by. coincidentally, they're also the least active. but i digress
but yeah. my main issue with loa was that after being in that community long enough, i just became stagnant. mostly due to the hope that things would sort them out themselves. i'd hold back on pursuing things and making plans because i wanted to do them AFTER i'd manifested everything. but clearly that didn't work out for me lol.
so uh yeah if you're in the community and reading this and you're not quite ready to let go of it yet, just don't let it hold you back. you think it isn't harmless until you just stop moving forward because of it. and please don't be afraid of reaching out for help.
sorry for the long ramble, hope you're doing well.
fuccccckkk if it were all true. manifesting a big ass psychic elephant would have been so metal !!
Thanks for sharing your story! And yeah, that's the thing about trying something over and over with no results - you might be able to repress the disappointment for awhile, but it will build up and eventually come out and hit you all at once. And it can hit hard.
You mention that you never posted about your failures, and I think that this is a far more common in the Law of Assumption community than many people realize. Neville Goddard's teachings and the community around them absolutely push people into self-censorship. We see people posting success stories (or, supposedly posting success stories), but we really have no idea of what's going on behind the scenes.
And it's a shame that the blogs taking a healthier approach to this aren't as common or active. But honestly, the fact that the toxic bloggers are spending all this time on this blue hellsite when they could, supposedly, manifest themselves doing literally anything else should tell people a lot about how well they're actually doing with the Law of Assumption and their approach to it.
Anyway, I'm glad you're doing better and I hope things keep going well for you!

Hey Niu!
Sorry to be a bother, I appreciate if you don't have time to answer this - but I am a little stuck.
I have been Pagan 'officially' for about seven years now. I've always had Pagan beliefs as a child, but never really wanted to 'label' myself until some years back. I've always loosely followed the belief, but recently my Wiccan friend has been reading Tarot.
She recommended that I start up with Tarot cards, as I need some guidence in life, and she said its a good start to help me find my feet and lead me on the right path.
Firstly, can anyone read tarot or is this something only Witches or Psychics can do? I thought you had to have a special power to do this?
Second, do you have any tips for those starting out?
Sorry about the newbie questions!
ANYONE can read ANY divination tool :3 It's a skill, like a language, to learn, and some will be better than others, but everyone should be able to read even a little bit if they want. The same as with foreign languages, where others become fluent (and love it!) and others want to learn only 5 words.
It's just that typically people with pagan, wiccan, new age, spiritual, luciferian, satanic, asatru, witch etc. beliefs are more prone to be intrigued by tarot and other divination tools. Thus these two tend to go hand in hand. I see people who have studied a lot of spiritual things but don't do divinations, and people who do divinations but haven't studied spirituality. All's fine! :3
Tarot isn't the only option. You may want to start also with oracle cards. There are PLENTY of different decks with different meanings, images and messages (unlike tarot, where all decks are pretty much identical, only images change - that's something we're going to return to later in this message). Just like in tarot, there are lighter deck, happy deck, grounded decks, dark decks, animal decks, nature decks, love decks, past life decks, deity decks, fairy deck, color deck, message text decks, angel decks, dragon decks, unicorn decks, mermaid decks etc.
Runes are also wonderful and for example I have started my divination journey with runes at the age of 16. Whatever resonates with you, go for it :3 There's no need to favor only tarot but if you want to go to tarot, then, let's go!
First, you can buy your own deck. I would actually recommend it! Pick a deck which feels nice to you. There is also a practice deck where each card has its meaning on it, both upright and reversed. It's important that you have a deck which you like. Sometimes, the deck will choose you. Sometimes, the deck is pretty but you don't resonate with it and it's hard to read. These can sometimes happen.
Biddy Tarot is the best place online to learn the cards! If you don't want to learn cards upright and reversed, you can learn only upright meanings. It depends on the reader what they wish to do. I've been doing card readings with all decks both upright only and upright & reversed. It didn't affect the readings, both can delivery the messages.
Pay attention in tarot also to the images. You can learn the basic meaning of the card and then read the images. This is called intuitive reading. What picks your attention in the card? Does the card differ somehow from the usual decks? Some decks have different images and different meanings for the cards than usual.
You can also assign meanings to the cards. For example, for me Lovers' card isn't as much of a love card than Two of Cups, which depicts deeper, purer love. Also, I always read The Devil in a positive way, unless other cards in that spread are saying otherwise (aka lots of bad cards in the same reading).
How you want to read your card (one card, 3 cards, specific spread etc.), how you want to shuffle, how you want to store them, how you want to interact with them etc. is up to you. Some people follow strict rituals and read cards only on a specific spot, while I might read cards half-naked on a dusty floor while the TV is open. All goes! :3 (always respect others' ways of doing divinations and handling the tools, though)
For more, you can check all tarot related post from my blog tagged as #tarot :3

G) and H) for the psy main cast
G) What trait of theirs bothers you the most? H) What trait do you admire most? this is gonna be long af it's going under the cut
Psy G) hmmmm well they have this like teenagerism of thinking things are cringe, which is annoying. they get embarrassed about their interests and miss out on genuine connections because they can't let anyone know they care about things. H) what DO i admire.... hmm well i think it is so cool that they can and do just steal shit all the time lol i think thats pretty awesome. there's also some stuff from their past i admire them for that we'll be seeing soon ;) as u know, juice, lol
Melody G) think it's annoying how she feels like she needs to be perfect. she's better about it than she was as a teen, but she still cares a bit too much about what other people think of her... its ok, girl, you dont need to please everyone, in fact its impossible!!! its going to be ok <3 H) everything else <3 haha! but no something i really admire about her and like, look up to her for is her sense of leadership! she's not only a good pride leader, planning events and making it fun to be there, but she's also like the leader of the friend group. she's the one who hits up the group chat like "hey lets do something together this weekend!!!" like she's holding it all together. it would all fall apart without her. i wish i could be like that!
Jett G) oh god i HATE how argumentative it is online. like i would have this guy blocked on tumblr if it was real because he has a terrible habit of responding to things that make him angry. he's gotten a lot better at ignoring things and putting down the phone since his teen years, but it will still type out paragraphs of discourse on tumblr dot com because he has OPINIONS that he feels MUST be HEARD. go touch grass, dude 😒 it's not worth it H) it is unapologetically itself!! hes so awesome!!!! like he doesnt give a shit that his coworkers think hes annoying or weird, thats literally THEIR problem and it's not gonna tone down its whimsy for those fools. that's so admirable, i go full Normie Mode in public lol
Tate G) HOW TO CHOOSE. all of his traits bother me! lmao! but i think that worst is that he's rarely thinking about the feelings of others. he's incredibly self-serving, and only really cares about himself because he thinks he's the only person that should really matter in his life. he has an 'its everyone for themselves' mentality going on 🙄 H) (through gritted teeth) i suppose i admire his confidence. i mean think about the fucking gusto it takes to sit in the cafeteria with a sign in front of u that says "free psychic readings" and just bullshit your way through it. incredible. he's also the type of guy who goes around at parties and just fearlessly chats up absolutely everyone. thats insane i wish i could do that.
Guy okay this is interesting because my answer for both G and H are the same for Guy!!! it's that he is incredibly forgiving! on one hand, he gets himself hurt by giving people the benefit of the doubt too much, and he always gives out second chances. but on the other hand, it is genuinely amazing how, even though it has gotten him hurt multiple times throughout his life, he's STILL willing to forgive people over and over again, and give them as many chances as it takes. he's willing to self-sacrifice to help other people grow! it bothers me because i want to see him care about himself and his own needs more, but i also admire it, because i wish i had that kind of forgiveness in my heart for everyone, y'know? its like aahggghhh why are you doing this to yourself but also awww 🥺 duuuuude 🥺 ur right dude maybe there IS good in everyone.. maybe everyone CAN change... if u believe....

Do you have any poetry recommends?
👀👀👀
awe, i love this question!!!
there are a few poems that moved me in 2022! all of these are poems that i read aloud for an oral interpretation class. bonus points if you can figure out which one makes me tear up the most.

The Lovers by Timothy Liu
I was always afraid of the next card the psychic would turn over for us—                               Forgive me for not knowing how we were every card in the deck.

Spring by Edna St. Vincent Millay
To what purpose, April, do you return again? Beauty is not enough. You can no longer quiet me with the redness Of little leaves opening stickily. I know what I know. The sun is hot on my neck as I observe The spikes of the crocus. The smell of the earth is good. It is apparent that there is no death. But what does that signify? Not only under ground are the brains of men Eaten by maggots. Life in itself Is nothing, An empty cup, a flight of uncarpeted stairs. It is not enough that yearly, down this hill, April Comes like an idiot, babbling and strewing flowers.

Summer by Chen Chen
You are the ice cream sandwich connoisseur of your generation.
Blessed are your floral shorteralls, your deeply pink fanny pack with travel-size lint roller just in case.
Level of splendiferous in your outfit: 200.
Types of invisible pain stemming from adolescent disasters in classrooms, locker rooms, & quite often Toyota Camrys: at least 10,000.
You are not a jigglypuff, not yet a wigglytuff.
Reporters & fathers call your generation “the worst.”
Which really means “queer kids who could go online & learn that queer doesn’t have to mean disaster.”
Or dead.
Instead, queer means, splendiferously, you.
& you means someone who knows that common flavors for ice cream sandwiches in Singapore include red bean, yam, & honeydew.
Your powers are great, are growing.
One day you will create an online personality quiz that also freshens the breath.
The next day you will tell your father, You were wrong to say that I had to change.
To make me promise I would. To make me promise.
& promise.

Fall by Mary Oliver
the black oaks fling their bronze fruit into all the pockets of the earth         pock pock
they knock against the thresholds the roof the sidewalk fill the eaves         the bottom line
of the old gold song of the almost finished year what is spring all that tender         green stuff
compared to this falling of tiny oak trees out of the oak trees         then the clouds
gathering thick along the west then advancing then closing over         breaking open
the silence then the rain dashing its silver seeds         against the house

Winter by Sudeep Sen
Couched on crimson cushions, pink bleeds gold
and red spills into one’s heart. Broad leather keeps time,
calibrating different hours in different zones
unaware of the grammar that makes sense.
Only random woofs and snores of two distant dogs
on a very cold night clears fog that is unresolved.
New plants wait for new heat — to grow, to mature.
An old cane recliner contains poetry for peace — woven
text keeping comfort in place. But it is the impatience of want
that keeps equations unsolved. Heavy, translucent, vaporous,
split red by mother tongues — winter’s breath is pink.

Mini-Review: The Heike Story
A young orphan named Biwa is taken in by the powerful Taira Clan—also known as the Heike—after their leader witnesses her extraordinary psychic abilities. Unfortunately, what she predicts is a future of bloodshed, violence, and civil war. Inspired by the 12th-century epic tale Heike Monogatari.
Something different from the normal genres I watch, this is an adaptation of a nearly millennia-old epic. I think that’s pretty clear going in, and I have at least heard of The Tale of the Heike, though my knowledge stopped at “Heian period story involving military,” which isn’t wrong, but clearly barely scratches the surface.
The main character is Biwa, named after the stringed instrument she plays. With her father, they wander the country, performing to earn their living. But Biwa also has a secret: one of her heterochromatic eyes sometimes sees the future. When her life intersects with that of a Heike nobleman who takes her in, she gets a front-row seat to the approaching civil war he hopes to avert.
Tumblr media
Knowing some history or context undoubtedly helps. For example, Biwa is a biwa (similar to a lute) player, and often narrates the story over her instrument. Looking some things up online after I watched, I read that the story was traditionally told, and passed down (even to the Japanese monks who first wrote it down a couple hundred years after the war), by traveling biwa players. So Biwa-the-character’s presence, more than just an observer and narrator, ties in to its history in Japan.
Tumblr media
That said, you don’t have to know Japanese history for this! Like many historical stories, that probably helps, but things like power struggles, politics, and war are easily understood (and reliably entertaining in fictional form) regardless.
Court and political intrigue, battle, ghosts--it feels like an epic. And while it gets serious, those parts hit so much harder because of the first episodes, which both get us established, and show us that the main nobles we’ll see--Shigemori, the kind-hearted noble who takes Biwa in, and his four children--are really likable.
Tumblr media
That makes it hit harder when Biwa sees what’s coming, but can’t stop it. This helplessness in the face of future tragedy really makes it feel like a classical story. There are bad decisions, there is hubris, and there are so, so many people who pay for it.
Tumblr media
One criticism I have is that it’s really hard to tell the passage of time, unless the characters state it outright. Biwa herself hardly changes throughout (and at least one character remarks on this), and adults don’t change much, so it’s really only through characters we meet as children that we understand that several years pass during this series. I really think they could’ve done a better job of conveying the passing of time.
Also a bit confusing were the many similar names, which isn’t helped by the occasional character designs that were also similar (Emperor Go-Shirakawa and Taira no Kiyomori, head of the Taira/Heike clan, were both bald old men who I frequently mixed up). All the names, except for Biwa, come from the original Heike Monogatari, so can’t be helped, but when yet another finely-dressed noble shows up on screen, it was hard to visually differentiate some, and the names were often similar (Shigemori, Kiyomori, Koremori, Munemori, Sukemori, Atsumori)
There’s a melancholy tone as the Heike continue or are drawn towards conflict, and all Biwa can do is watch, bearing witness to a civil war that she eventually shares as a musical tale. The melancholy tone is aided by the biwa music, strings echoing without accompaniment.
Tumblr media
Framing of the camera and similar decisions also added to the story. Just like how the characters, in such polite high society would allude to things and talk around a point rather than bluntly stating something outright, the camera often focuses on a character’s back, or hands, or lower part of their face, letting the viewer making the connection with what’s happening, or what the character is feeling, without showing it outright.
Tumblr media
Verdict
English dub? Yes
Visuals: Very nice! The art style, with its flat colors, minimal shading, and not overly-stylized character designs, might bring to mind woodblock prints.
Worth watching? Yes, although it’s not something I binged due to its more serious, and heavy, nature. I usually watch lighter or more humorous shows, so it was a change to go into something that tells you up front “hey, this is the story of a war and a clan’s downfall.”
Where to watch (USA, as of February 2023): Funimation, Crunchyroll

Hello, I saw your post about being open for readings and thought I would try at asking a question if that's alright. Lately I have been contemplating the concept of a curse, I have been a witch for 5 years and understand the concept within its typical context and discourse, but I find that often times we tend to view ourselves as being 'cursed' when we see the repetition of an event or fault within ourselves; this can be something we see suddenly begin at some point in our lives (clear or vague) or believe to come from birth (maybe a past life). In some ways, rationally I know I'm not cursed and that it has more to do with my self perception, but looking back at my life I see a history in which I'm alone, incapable of making friends or successfully socialising with others except for a few online friends and shallow irl friendships who aren't part of my daily life (unlike other forced/awkward interactions). I would like to know if, when, and how this will change? Is it really a curse that I've placed on myself or was born with?
I hope you have a wonderful day and Thank You,
-L.C.F 🌙
Capricorn Rising, Sagittarius Sun
hello :) reading this ask, i just wanted to take a second to appreciate your occult philosophy because mine is very similar and its fascinating talking with other practitioners and witches! & while reading your question, i got a very cerebral and intellectual vibe from you. you spend so much time refining your perspectives and personal beliefs- its like a mental tinker toy that you always add, remove, transmute, and transform with. you are always learning and try to add / question it and its cool. scientist philosopher vibe and it makes sense with the cap ris and sag sun!
a quick astrological note i have about sagittarius is that a lot of them that ive been friends with (i have a lot of sag friends - im a gemini so sister signs hehe) never feel at place anywhere. not only physically, but even with friends too? even the extroverted ones who have the skill and charisma of socializing never feel at place or 'real' with anyone - jupiter (ruling planet) is an outer planet and they are more focused on large-scale collective issues / philosophy, etc. and their energies tend to be heavier / more intense with outer planets imo. esp with saturn as your ruler (im going to guess your sun in sag is in the 12th house if your rising is in cap! i have a 12th house too and 12th house planets are veryyyy important to your soul's path and how it experiences existence) a 12th house sun indicates someone more withdrawn who only feels comfortable being who they are alone - however, often enough, they find themselves emotionally in conflicts with this. 12th housers are notably known for experiencing loneliness, however, not only can this change (the 12th house has highhh spiritual energy within it that can manifest sooooo much holy shit) 12th housers are natural psychics, channelers, and magicians. its part of their soul path. when they learn to channel more from a place of pure self acceptance, self-love, etc. - existence will be so much easier for them.
i have a couple 12th house placements and when i was younger i couldnt click with anyone either - for example, i hate television and mass media. i use tumblr as a spiritual space which is nice but thats about it. i have others but all of it exhausts me tbh. i read a lot of philosophy and psych (im a phi and psych major) and its made me see the world differently. i took for more sensitive intelligent yet fun types! those people can be hard to find and when i was younger and not in control of my 12th house energies (aka always having self guilt, intense self hatred, intense ego inflation / wanting to achieve worldly goals) i couldnt manifest or meet any of them. i spend a lot of time alone (but honestly my psychic abilities thriveee when im alone so realize that the 12th house has hidden gifts and they r so fun hehe) and through self-healing, when i noticed myself shedding those parts of myself that were channeling dark energy, my life manifested better in all areas. when you shed the ego, oddly enough spirit comes through and blesses your life and im so serious with this one. my relationship to the world changed radically, same with my family, friends, i came into alignment with my soulmates. the 12th house is all about learning self-forgiveness and changing negative mental patterns- like i think, from reading your question, you are blaming yourself a lot like "whats wrong with me?" or "what am i doing to 'dispel' people?" i dont think this is the case. its wild because other people find you really cool and intelligent but in a detached way while you see yourself so much lesser than. but ur cool asf so remember that haha. i think that recognizing what qualities you like in people instead of what you lack in yourself might help - there is a good manifestation tool where you write spells/ affirmations and put it on the windowsill and forget about it. when you write what you want, you have to be specific (to make sure the spell doesnt work wrong), use positive energy, and use the present tense as if it has already happened. this might help you redirect and refocus a bit?
i also want to say that witches and mystics can often feel lonely- i notice this a lot with my intuitive friends where they either need a lot of alone time or cant find those introspective, deep, solacing, and safe connections that they crave. they exist out there, and i think alignment will help. trust in yourself. i keep getting the whole self-love message here - your guides are stressing this a lot - also i would recommend looking into 12th house placements because (i cant exaggerate it enough) that's the fix- the only way out is from within.
though im not too familiar with the specifics of curses (i practice light magick) i see curses as reversible forces and i truly believe in the unconditional love of the Absolute (the universe) and its extensions of Being (the soul in the immaterial realms, and the ego in the material realms). the lessons that our souls are learning on earth are stepping stones to our revolution. opening up the heart to the unconditional patience and forgiveness to yourself is so essential - don't rest in shame or feel like 'something is wrong with you'. fear feeds on fear, and love breeds on love. Sometimes 12th house placements can feel like a curse but it’s moreso what state of mind you have. If anything, the 12th house is karma to resolve. Just make sure you aren’t blaming yourself and that it can be so difficult to connect with people and it’s not your fault at all - imo from a philosophical standpoint, we have capitalism to blame. Marx’s theory of alienation is interesting.
I hope that this could help and that it resonates! energy is such a malleable and manipulative source so you can use this for good causes such as energy transmutation and rebirth. i think that expanding out into your interests and trying to find people similar to you might help? like i think you seek mental stimulation and you should look for those types? like most people seem kind of unconnectable or maybe even childish to you and i don't blame you at all for that

VIDREV: "We Finally Watched Nukie: The VHS Grading Video" by RedLetterMedia
[originally posted april 24th 2023]
youtube
there's so much i could say about RLM and won't, at least not today. you can't claim to have a serious conversation about video essays on youtube (or the tenor of nerd-related online media criticism generally) without talking about the Plinkett Star Wars reviews, and even still that convo would be incomplete without discussing their on-again-off-again relationship with abject somethingawful-style offensive edgelord shitposting. unlike an embarrassing quantity of their contemporary peers, however, the RLM guys grew and learned and changed, which is a big part of why i've stuck with them for so long. i was a teen in the 2000s, i also said slurs and thought being offensive was just good honest fun. i grew up as they matured, in contrast to a sea of other adult entertainers existentially committed to never doing so.
RLM is probably the closest thing i and a fair few millennials (from a very particular background) have to a Roger Ebert. i don't always agree with their takes, and there were a good couple years after The Last Jedi when i stopped watching them because it felt like they were playing too hard to reddit's tastes. i came back to them in 2020, when they (like me) finally just threw the entire mainstream blockbuster hollywood industry in the trash out of exhaustion and boredom, thus kickstarting what's honestly been the most consistently good run they've had in a long time. and i have to say, as someone who has been watching and reading online media crit for damn near two and a half decades now, i cannot overstate the immense psychic value i've come to place on the opinions of actual honest to god adults who like sci-fi and hate what's become of it. their spite for all things corporate schlock gives me infinite life. the fact is they've been producing entertaining, ambitious, and often shockingly insightful media analysis for more than ten years now. their Jack & Jill review remains an essential touchstone on the nepotistic business of modern ad-funded filmmaking! at least for me
but okay, i said i wasn't gonna talk at length about the legacy of RLM so i won't anymore. i'm here to talk about this relatively recent one-off documentary of theirs, which is nominally an extension of a years-old running gag but is in actuality a very matter-of-fact conversation between adults about the role of speculative collector's markets in nerd media. they begin by discussing the news story of a Back to the Future VHS tape selling for tens of thousands of dollars on eBay, thus sparking much buzz about the potential unmined value of old tapes. this serves as a springboard for an honest to goodness investigation of the entire phenomenon: the grading process, the inferiority of VHS, what it means to collect things, and to what extant the whole damn thing is a scam. they approach this topic with all the unflinching cynicism you'd expect of the crew who melted 2,387 vintage Star Wars figures in a vat of acetone simply out of spite.
the real throughline of this video is the question "what creates value?" and their answer is what i came here to talk about. condition, scarcity, and providence are the words they come back to-- how well-preserved is the collectible, how rare is it, how much story does it have as an object? they cite Beanie Babies here, the perennial example of corporatized speculative bubbles. one thing i really appreciate is how they clearly differentiate casual collecting from the activity of speculators. there's a pernicious expectation culturally that anyone who keeps a functionally useless Old Thing (vhs tapes, action figures, trading cards) must be doing so at least in part in hopes that its value will increase over time. as someone who does collect a few Old Things i've always hated this expectation. there's a lot of stuff i used to have and sold because i didn't really have a choice economically, and honestly in most cases it left me feeling kind of dirty. i don't like the idea of a toy that never gets played with, a movie that never gets watched, a card game that never gets played. i don't want to own a thing because it might get me money later. the things i collect are collected because they represent something personal to me, much in the way the RLM guys keep and display their own collectibles.
nothing can be called valuable if you can put a dollar sign on it, in my opinion. can there be a worse fate for matter than to be transmogrified into a metaphorical lottery ticket?
oh i hate this shit. i hate how our entire goddamn economy is just a series of gambling addictions stacked up in a trench coat called "banking." let's set aside cost of living, rent, education, healthcare, etc. i resent how expensive used clothes are now, how expensive vinyl is, old lenses for outdated mounting systems, weird analog a/v equipment, and honestly just like… everything? we're living in an era of such inescapable productive stagnation and engineered obsolescence, the only place left to turn to find something built to endure is the past. the demand for that stuff (and a lack of regulatory pressure to limit resale value) means sellers raise prices exponentially, which ultimately just ends up crowding out all the poors like me who just wanted some stupid little object to put in a corner where we can look at it and feel a fleeting moment of joy between shifts at the Food Pyramid. like i know this isn't A Big Problem but it fucking gets to me. everything old is expensive, everything new is expensive (ESPECIALLY if it's worth the money), and all the while we're just drowning in subscription services that treat every individual bank account like an oil field they've got mineral rights to. voting with your wallet doesn't make a lick of fucking difference when drainage enters the equation. god damned capitalists see a nickel changing hands and want a dime for each finger it touched. i made a video some years ago about all the Halo collectibles i had at the time and how conflicted they left me as i got older. i've all but removed the bookshelf from my recent essays because it just feels weird to me. the collection lingering softly behind you in a youtube video serves the same base function as a framed diploma at a doctor's office, which is… a little bit disquieting? i don't like that the only qualification that seems to matter in the world of media analysis is, functionally, how much money you have. but then that's true for becoming a doctor as well, isn't it. i guess it is kind of true of everything now. so yeah, the fact that RLM share both my enjoyment of collecting and my resentment towards most collectors means a lot to me. makes me feel slightly less psychotic
the big gimmick here is that they get a handful of tapes professionally graded (including a fake one just to see what happens), one of which is a copy of the wretched 80s b-movie Nukie. this is the aforementioned years-long running gag, a film that's been sent to them hundreds of times that they hadn't bothered to watch until producing this video. contending that this makes them owners of the largest private Nukie collection on earth, they proceed to put every single copy they own into a wood chipper to inflate the tape's perceived value ahead of listing their final, graded tape on eBay. i love this. i love this so much. generally i love how often the RLM guys destroy shit. in a world where everything is wrapped in plastic and rated for inevitable resale, there's immense catharsis in simply smashing something into worthlessness. we could use a lot more of that in some slightly more consequential arenas of human existence, imo
the tape sold for $80,600 and the proceeds were all donated to charity. that's awesome. but i wonder to what extent this whole episode works as an experiment. it certainly proves that you can create value where none ought to exist, though i think they should have listed a second Nukie tape without publicizing it like a week before releasing this vid just to have a control sample to compare from. but what i keep asking myself is, did destroying all those tapes ACTUALLY increase the speculative value of Nukie? it's not like they were in circulation before, and certainly the RLM guys had no intention of selling them down the line. the purpose of the wood chipper stunt is to create scarcity, but that scarcity only really exists in the narrative of Nukie as a running joke in RLM's videography. you're not bidding on the tape because it's the last, you're bidding on it because it's a funny joke from a youtube video. and that's providence, right? of course all that context imbues this worthless object with a parasocial value, it's the same thing as bidding on a prop from a movie you like.
but what kind of kills it for me as a proper experiment is that they explicitly say "we're donating the proceeds to charity." of course people are going crawl over each other to bid higher on this thing now, the internet LOVES seeing big numbers go to good causes. on the one hand, that's more providence. all of this is part of the mythos. whoever won the bid got plastic trash in exchange for giving RLM an $80k tax writeoff, which i think is hilarious. but that's precisely what pushes it into the realm of a stunt for me, rather than the proper experiment the rest of the vid puts a lot of effort into setting up, because our guys are very much pressing their thumbs on the scale. which, you know, i'm not REALLY complaining about this. anything they listed would sell for a lot, and i think we all know the aspiring VHS speculative bubble is a pile of shit. it doesn't need to be proven even faux-scientifically. but if we just seclude ourselves in the self-contained universe of this one video on its own, i feel like the stunt of the tape auction eclipses and maybe even undermines a lot of what came before. would it have been better if they'd held onto that now more-scarce graded tape with the intention of auctioning it off for charity someday at an unspecified date? for me, maybe yes. but of course everything you'd do to avoid unduly influencing the results of the auction ultimately results in giving less money to charity. i dunno. i don't even know if i'm complaining about anything at this point. i just know i've watched this video twice (once when it released, once last night because i was bored) and both times i found myself feeling somehow vaguely uneasy by the end. what does that mean? does it mean anything? supposedly it's my job to figure that out, but here i am at the end of this review and i've come no closer to really resolving it. maybe i am just unfairly cynical about youtubers doing charity.
in any event, i think this Nukie vid is an excellent example of what makes RLM special at their best. if you want a much more pure, personal, and distilled exploration of this emotion but filtered through the realm of memes stolen by corporations, definitely check out RLM's Dick the Birthday Boy: The Legacy Continues. anyway it's a good video so go watch it

I don't know if this will become my spiritual/philosophical abyss to shout in but I changed up the format on my writing blog & I'm only posting shit I've published. & some of this shit I don't want to painstakingly arrange/organize into something publishable, nonetheless search for a market for it.
But tonight I tried to go to bed early because I keep fucking myself with my erratic sleep schedule & woke up an hour into being asleep because SURPRISE you have to take a gd excederin immediately or you are going to spend the rest of the night puking! & as I was lying on the couch eating crackers & waiting for the claws to retract from my temples, I decided to put some random shit on & ended up watching the first episode of Nick Groff's show Deathwalker.
The premise immediately connected w me because as a writer who has been researching the occult since I was a kid to build magic systems to tell stories in — what makes the most sense to me is that consciousness is alone in the universe & all the supernatural/paranormal things we can possibly experience are the edges of space-time read as fucky through individual consciousness. It's a grand theory of the paranormal in that there is no paranormal, it is all perception but what we understand as time is the old persistent illusion & everything is happening at once so of course there's bleed through for various reasons. Partially because the hardware of the human body/brain is imperfect, partially because the software of consciousness maybe doesn't so much glitch but has parameters, edges to the programming that we don't readily understand.
While I was really unimpressed by the first episode & feel like it didn't really do anything to press his idea any further & the dude that he was circle jerking his philosophy with was obsessed with some shit psychics told him. Which how the fuck do psychics play into your grand theory bro? Maybe there are people who can see more possibilities at once but they're still possibilities. Everything is happening at once & we are disseminating the information in real time. There's no set future or past only probabilities that belong to a specific place in conscious space-time for a moment before it shifts again.
But what it did remind me of is an EVP I heard a years ago on a podcast called Astonishing Legends. I was listening to the ep on headphones while I was working & I ended up ripping them out. I felt physically ill listening to the EVP. I heard a few people online say the same thing, it obviously affected one of the hosts pretty viscerally as well. But some people were like ya'll are stupid it's just feedback (& no it wasn't any feedback noise I've heard as someone who has been & musician for years & even ran sound for shows back in college). But again the theory is that paranormal shit is a shift in conscious perception & sensory data that triggers one person wouldn't necessarily trigger another.
Although I have migraine gremlins ripping out the little threads of nerves in my head right now, I decided, what a time to revisit the EVP & see if anyone had debunked it. They did use a famously unreliable EVP recorder & it was captured in The Sallie House & I'm not particularly fond of the story around it nor do I get any visceral feelings around the story or any of the photos of the house so I'm not hyped up imaginatively outside of the EVP itself.
But I played it again & immediately the loosening threads cutting around my eyes dug back in, my stomach turned, it felt like someone had punched me in the gut. Why? It's not even a particularly frightening noise? But I also get a little bit of a gut drop when I hear a foghorn for some reason. It ain't nothing but a thing, I've had uncanny reactions to other sensory input but for me there's something about certain sounds that fucks me up.
Anyway, I can find no video debunking it. Which apparently according to a reddit post I found they were having the sound examined by an audiologist. With all the video essays ripping Zak Bagans apart (justified), I just don't understand how nobody has gotten around to this really unsettling EVP attached to a very prominent haunted house (& I say that as someone who doesn't think haunted houses actually exist but that some people are open enough in consciousness to engage with either the story or the vibes (& by vibes I mean visceral sensory reaction) of the house).
I want to know what my malfunction is to have this reaction? Yeah, I've got the brainfire jingle jangles right now but the first time I heard the EVP I was on my bright eyed, bushy tailed type A bullshit. It pulled my guts out while I was plugging data points into a calendar spreadsheet. Every synapse in my stupid potato brains was shaking hands & getting along until that sound hit my eardrums & I noped the fuck out body & soul.
I also want to know what the scientific explanation for the sound is. Maybe there's a reason for it somewhere in the rationale. I don't know. It just plagues me, makes me wonder what is going on upstairs, & if the truth of it's all in your head is that yeah but so is everything else & in that there are universes.
