Because you stuck around | Gojo Satoru x reader college au
Summary: you had been Gojo's only die-hard loyal friend in his so far twenty years of life, but it took saving him from a quarter-life crisis for him to finally admit to you just how precious you were to him Not proofread bc we're lazy Decided to switch it up a little from the usual Genshin stuff
You first met the man child when he was only a child, as your parents were great friends of his parents, which meant you two would get a whole lot of play dates as kids.
Whenever he looked into your eyes even back then, you felt like you were frozen in place by those radiant blues. There was also something about the way he looked at you, and only you. For a while you felt as if you weren't the only one who's stomach filled with butterflies when you gazed at one another.
Eventually, he got older and achieved a great amount of fame via all his amazing accomplishments, and also good looks. While he never had a weird phase in puberty regarding looks, he definitely did have a personality change.
All the praise went to his head, so much so that whenever he talked to you, it was always just about how awesome he was. In middle school, he had his own little cult, or gang of devoted followers, who by themselves could be considered the cool kids, but only when Satoru wasn't around.
He turned into one of the most insufferable of egotistical bullies, but he didn't bully you, and you stuck around. You always did.
In high school, you two went to separate high schools that were on the same street, right across from one another. Girls from your school would often sneak into his school during lunch break just to get a glimpse of him in the flesh, while you just rolled your eyes at the whole situation.
Still, you were there if he ever needed to boast about all the love letters he had received that week, or tell someone about all the details of his new girlfriend. You stuck around, even though it was a type of thankless devotion. It was a well known fact that you were his only long time good friend, so while many girls envied you and stared daggers at you in the halls or on the streets, other girls did anything they could to be friends with you, just to get information about Satoru.
You'd be lying if you said you weren't at least a little bit happy with your popularity.
Things changed when you two reached college. Both you and Satoru moved across the country to attend a prestigious college. During the first year, he got to live in his very own three bedroom mansion, while you just shared a dorm with three other girls, which you didn't mind, but it wasn't exactly luxury.
Your friendship was only being held together by the feelings you still had left for him after all this time, as now, he barely even talked to you anymore. He was way too caught up in his lavish lifestyle, blasting mountains of money on girls and partying each week, and steadily failing all his classes at the same time.
Still, you stuck around and watched over him from afar, but you could only roll your eyes and shake your head at what he was doing with his life. That brings you to this summer.
You had the highest grades from your entire year in your college, while it wasn't hard to guess that Satoru's were the lowest. You became quite popular, as many people asked you to help them with things they didn't understand, as well as just taking advice from you in general.
You'd never have expected a depressed looking Gojo Satoru to approach you one day, asking for help with dark circles around his eyes, messed up hair and clothes, and a look in his eyes that indicated a mental breakdown. Still, the way he looked at you was the same as back then.
"Y/n... can you please help me improve my grades? If I continue like this, I'll be kicked out. Please, I'll do anything." He said to you. If it were any other person with his lifestyle begging for help, you may have just laughed in their face and told them to change life paths entirely, but it was Satoru. You could only nod and offer a comforting hug.
You contacted his parents regarding his issues, and while they were furious at him, they couldn't stop thanking you for sticking around and helping him. They arranged for you to stay at his college house from now on, just so you could keep a closer eye on him as you two worked through his quarter life crisis together.
By the time you reached Christmas, his grades had improved majorly, and he was a completely changed person. He had gotten back his cheerful, bubbly personality that you once knew him for, and while he wasn't blatantly rude and egotistical, he continued to play into the act, partially as a joke, and also because old habits die hard. And you were the one to thank for this change for him, because as always, you stuck around.
This was his first time in so many years that he didn't spend Christmas partying, but instead with you, and only you, enjoying all the amazing foods you made, and otherwise curling up on the couch with you as you two binged movies.
You don't even know how many romcoms you two had gone through the past couple days, but while it was entertaining, you couldn't help but envy the people in those movies, always getting their happily ever after with the one they love, while you were just here, raising a man child that you had been in love with since you were two.
Little did you know that when you'd be opening your present from him on Christmas Eve, you'd find amongst all the amazing things he bought you, a hand-written letter, and that he'd be watching you anxiously as you opened and read it, praying to everything both up above and down below that you wouldn't react by ripping it up and tossing it on the floor.
My dear Y/n, This is my 89th attempt at writing this letter, but I'm afraid if I tried to tell you what I want to say in outspoken words, it would be even worse than this. Please don't hate me. I want to confess to you something that I was too scared to say out loud, so here goes. I know I might have never shown it, but I've loved you ever since we were just little kids. I know I was a really bad friend to you growing up, but you always continued to stick around, no matter how insufferable I got. I could never understand it. I was the one who was famous, the one who was deemed perfect by everyone on the outside, but it was you who turned out so amazing, while I just became a wreck, leaving you, the only one who stuck around after all this time, to fix me. I'm eternally grateful for everything you've done for me, and I wish I could repay you. I wish that some day you could find it in you to reciprocate my love for you, but even if you can't, I will always wait for you, just as you did for me, as a way of paying off my debt. Keep in mind that I've never actually confessed to anyone, as I never truly loved anyone that I've been with in the past, though you probably knew that by yourself. With sincere love, Satoru. P.S. I hope you didn't die of cringe by the time you reached the end of this.
You giggled as you read the line on the bottom of the paper, looking up at Satoru afterwards, and he seemed like a lost puppy with a begging look in his eyes. Even the time he came asking for your help, he didn't look like he was so hopeful.
"I didn't die of cringe, as you can see." You said with a smirk on your face, taking all of his constipated facial expression in as you kept eye contact for a long time period.
"...and?" He broke the silence after about fifteen seconds, gulping right after.
"I love you too, you idiot." You said, catching him as he practically flew into your arms. You had been waiting for this moment for way too long.
He leaned down and softly pressed his lips against yours, stealing your breath for a short time before pulling away after a few seconds. His cocky persona had returned.
"Why did I ever have my doubts? I'm awesome!" He said, making you giggle.
"What a man child." You shook your head before kissing him again, just enjoying the romcom moment you had been desiring for so long.

Brain fried, misremembered Father Lucian as Father Donavich, was going to ask how the hell that managed to happen but now realizing I’m just a buffoon
You're not a buffoon! The module doesn't do a superb job fleshing out or differentiating them. Hell, I imagine the intended sentence: Father Lucian was in a polycule with Ez and our cleric in my last campaign. is a doozy for some people!
My Lucian is a charismatic community leader, offering an alternative way of existing in Vallaki to the Baron's smile-all-the-time mentality and the Wachters' resistance to it. He's very much the voice of recognizable reason in Vallaki, but he doesn't seek political office in any way. He is instead focused on uplifting his community towards genuine peace and joy, direct action in areas that need support, and fighting the darkness (including the occasional creature of the night).
In our last game, one of the jokes we had was that Lucian was hopping the city walls to fight off werewolves and the like so Vargas could continue to run a stable (ish) city. It quickly stopped being a joke. It also became A Thing that Yeska was likely his biological son.
In this game, Yeska is his biological son with his deceased wife who was modeled after the last game's cleric. He also has a daughter from a previous relationship who has narrowly escaped scandal due to the party's mercy. However, Lucian's primary function is as our warlock's adoptive father. He is the son of the Abbot (an aasimar) and the warlock, Theo, is an escaped flesh construct nun. If Lucian had a healthy relationship with his father, he would view Theo as a sister or an abomination (depending on what that "healthy relationship" looked like) but because Lucian has spent the last twenty years trying to rally the Valley's religious leaders in his father's stead (since the Abbot can't be bothered to lead the Church) and because he was raised by "un-nuns", Lucian immediately saw Theo as someone who had also been abandoned by the Abbot. Because he is a father, he also saw this seemingly-grown woman as the three year old she really is and he knew she needed a father. He doesn't make any distinction between Theo and his biological children in terms of love or care. I have a modern AU writing in which he is framed as her older brother who is raising her because their dad (still the Abbot) is a deadbeat. Maybe I'll post it one day.
Anyway, in our last game, Ez and Lucian separately cultivated relationships with Urlstra, our cleric. They both fell in love with her and Urlstra convinced Ez to spend time in Vallaki. Ez and Lucian started to develop their own relationship in tandem with their relationship(s) with Urlstra and independently. The three of them spent several nights together and got married. Urlstra and Ez doted on Yeska and it was very sweet and funny, very tender in the middle of dramatic, devastating moments.
I've said a few times that Ez and Lucian should be exes or on-and-off lovers in Blood Countess as a nod to our Remix game, but I've never done anything to commit to it. I would love feedback!
My Ez in Blood Countess is still a reckless monster hunter, but she's older, savvier, and more calculated. She is friendly but blunt, badass af, and her biggest concern is that her mentor disappeared from Darkon after receiving some kind of medical news and now, faced with him, she realizes he's dying and is going through a midlife/end-of-life crisis, making questionable choices. She loves him and wants to get him on track for recovery or at least for not dying in Barovia of all places. If the PCs liked her better, I would for sure have her and Lucian be a thing (or a former thing with some lingering sparks). However, I can't figure out how to salvage her reputation with them. I think having Lucian vouch for her might do something, but I don't know if it's necessary. I feel like it would satisfy something for me and for me alone. It's a little detail, but one I should iron out for tomorrow's game.
If you have suggestions, I'd love to hear 'em!
Otherwise, I'll be editing my Tome of Strahd to better include the Ulmist Inquisition.

I even made a lil moodboard yay
Doesn't it look cute?
Anyway to bussiness, I'll post the first part in chapter one and then I'll get a chapter two to finish it.
_________________________________________________________
By the time Anthony, about to turn seventeen years of age, departed from Aubrey Hall for his last year in Eton, he left behind his mother and father, all six of his siblings, the youngest one being little Gregory, who was just a toddler, his beloved stallion and his best friend Kate.
Anthony Bridgerton met Miss Kate Sharma when he was 8 years of age and she was 6. He had walked into his mother’s favourite drawing room, intending on finding her to complain about something Benedict had done, his annoying little brother trailing close behind him, ready to defend himself against any and all accusations, true or not.
He had not expected, of course, to find his mother accompanied in the parlour. Sitting on her favourite chaise, Violet Bridgerton was fanning herself, her pregnant stomach clear against the blue day dress she was wearing. Across from her sat Lady Danbury, who Anthony was rather familiar with and knew well enough to stay politely out of range of her walking stick, a young woman who was probably just a few years younger than his mother, and a young girl munching quietly on a biscuit, her arm tight around a china doll.
“Ah, my darlings.” His mother crooned, beckoning them closer with a wave. “These are my eldest two, Anthony and Benedict.” She patted Anthony’s cheek affectionally, her other hand on Ben’s back, but speaking to the women across from her. “Boys, you remember Lady Danbury.”
They bowed their heads to the older woman, mumbling their hellos and how do you dos at the same time.
“Lady Danbury is visiting the Sharmas, theyve just moved right next to us.” Violet’s practised warm smile to the Sharmas had not stopped Anthony’s frown.
“To Crake?” His eyebrows were drawn together, and his mouth pushed into a confused line. Violet opened her mouth to reply but Benedict had already beaten her, his puzzlement joining his older brother’s.
“But Aunt Billie and Uncle George live in Crake!” Benedict turned to his mother, perplexed. “Where will they…?”
“Not Crake.” His mother interrupted before the conversation spiralled completely out of hand. “On the other side of the Lake. On Norwood House.” Twin ‘oh!’s’ escaped the boys’ lips. “This is Lady Mary Sharma and her daughter, Kate.”
The introductions were finished and the conversation continued around them as Anthony decided if it would be polite to complain about his brother in front of company when his mother let out an excited gasp.
“Why don’t you and Benedict show Kate around the lake and the edge of the woods, Ant?”
“Oh, it’s a lovely idea.” Lady Mary was already pushing Kate up. The young girl’s eyes were incredibly wide, her brown curls wild around her, her doll clutched to her chest.
“But she’s carrying a doll and all. She’ll slow us down!” Anthony’s whine reverberated in the room, his mother tutting at him. “And she’s a girl!” The way he said it, it did sound like an insult, and Kate most certainly took it as one. Before any of the Ladies in the room could scold Anthony for his rudeness, the young girl ruffled indignantly and stomped hard on his foot, quite on purpose.
That was the moment Anthony Bridgerton fell head-over-heels in love with Kate Sharma. Or that was Ben’s retelling of it. Anthony was not particularly in agreement and, personally, he wasn’t exactly sure how well Benedict’s six-year-old brain could be relied on.
But from that moment forwards, Anthony and Kate became inseparable, Ben tagging along after them, being the, sometimes unwilling, third party to all their silly schemes, and many times the mediator between Anthony and Kate’s endless bickering.
He had sat with her in the tree house a few days before Edwina was born, her hand wrapped tightly in his, her head laying on his shoulder.
“What if Mary does not love me anymore after the babe comes?” Her question was mostly a whisper while her eyes remained firmly shut and Anthony had been quite certain she was trying her hardest not to cry.
“Mary already loves you very much.” It was quite true, he knew. Mary was a devoted mother, always trailing after Kate with her heart in her eyes. “What reason would she have to stop?”
“Well, she’ll be the baby’s real Mama...” He scoffed at her words and she turned to her head to peer at him, her brow in a furrow.
“Mary is your real Mama.” He said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world, impatient about the fact that Kate could not see it. “She tugs you in bed every night with goodnight kisses, does she not?”
“Yes, but…”
“And she reads you stories and gives you kisses and cuddles when you get hurt, yes?”
“Yes.”
“She asks Cook to make your favourite dish whenever you’re feeling blue and sometimes lets you have more servings of dessert behind your Papa’s back.” He pointed out. “And doesn’t she let you climb into bed with her when it’s storming?”
“She does.”
“She does all the things Mamas do, so why wouldn’t she be your real Mama?” Anthony’s voice was filled with the type of certainty only children could have.
“Well, I suppose…” She mumbled, her voice a little bit less sorrowful.
“You’re actually quite very lucky, I’d say.” He continued conversationally. “You‘ll only have to share the attentions of your mama and papa with one sibling. Soon I shall have four.” His mama had sat him and Ben down a few months previous to announce they’d be having another baby brother or sister soon. To Anthony, the three that he already had were more than enough, but his parents did seem very happy about it. “And anyhow, being a big sibling is really quite fun.”
It really was, even if Benedict sometimes annoyed him endlessly, Colin tried to eat all his cookies and little Daphne had broken his favourite wooden figure Aunt Poppy had brought from her visit to Lisbon.
“Your siblings are really nice.” She nodded, yawning into her hand, her eyes drifting closed, her face much more relaxed than it was earlier.
“I’m most certain your sibling will be just as nice.” He agreed, leaning his head back against the wall of the tree house, allowing her even breathing to lull him.
“I hope I’ll be a great eldest sibling, just like you.”
“Of course, you’ll be. You’ll be brilliant at it.”
That afternoon, they fell asleep sitting in their tree house, her head on his shoulder and their fingers entwined and twin smiles on their lips.
Kate had also been his first kiss. It had been a dare from Benedict, who had not really believed she would actually pull through with it. But he had very badly underestimated eleven years old Kathani Sharma’s stubbornness and competitiveness. He watched open-mouthed as she crossed the space between them to Anthony, who had been skipping stones by the lake shore, with a purposeful stride, tugged him down (he had grown taller than her the previous summer and Kate absolutely hated it) by the lapel of his coat and pressed her lips very firmly to his for a five seconds before storming off to collect her prize from his shocked little brother, leaving Anthony staring at her completely dumbfounded, gaping at her back, both of their faces completely red.
Later, she shared the entire raspberry pie she won from the bet with Anthony. It was only fair.
When he left for Eton for the first time, she stood in the entryway of Aubrey Hall to see him off with the rest of his family and promised she would write all the time and he’d better write back. She hugged him for a very long time and then threatened his life if he ever were to find a new best friend in his time away. He had assured her that the position belonged firmly to her and she should not worry.
And as certain as the sun rose in the sky every morning, Kate’s letter came in weekly. She’d tell him about her days with Edwina and his siblings, about her lessons with her governess, about the books she read and her new hobby of watercolours. In return, he’d tell her about his lessons at school, about the good and bad teachers, about the terrifying headmaster and about the boys in his dormitory. Some of the lads had tried to tease him about it but gave up after they realized how very unbothered Anthony was. He’d have Kate’s letters, he didn’t care about much else.
And every time he returned home, there she was, waiting for him with a blinding smile on her lips.
The summer was theirs. They’d run wild in the countryside, getting up to all sorts of misfits. Benedict had taken up drawing and now he’d always have his sketchbook pulled up to his nose while they sat under trees or on their branches, the tips of his fingers black with charcoal.
There was some feeble attempt to stop them. Kate was quickly turning into a young woman and it was not quite proper to have her run alone with two young men unchaperoned. The concerns for Kate’s reputation were easily dropped and there seemed to be an implicit understanding between their parents that eventually Anthony would end up marrying her. His father had even once said something along the lines of ‘If Anthony won’t I’m sure Benedict will.’ which had Anthony sulking for the following three days.
He’d be lying if he said he did not care for the idea. He would have to marry eventually. He was the firstborn and it would be his duty to continue the Bridgerton bloodline. And Kate was his best friend in the world, the one person he knew his heart and soul, with whom he could trust his deepest fears and wildest thoughts. And his mother had always said the best marriages were the ones forged between very best friends, after all. And she wasn’t really bad to look at, with her wild curls and big doe-like eyes. In his mind, it was all pretty simple. He’d finish his studies in Oxford, return home, marry Kate and live quite happily afterwards. He wouldn’t have to suffer through seasons in London, flocked by silly debutants, he’d have his future viscountess and, if the past years were anything to go about, life with Kate would be really quite fun. But Anthony had dedicated very little time to think about it. He’d rather spend his free days at home with Kate and Benedict than dwell on thoughts about the future and he’d always have so much to do at school, it was quite easy to forget the topic entirely.
His mind was distracted by thoughts of home and his summer before he enrolled in university, Cook’s raspberry pie that always waited for them every time they returned from school, of the seventh baby sibling that would be joining the family by the end of the summer and if Mother would allow them to go swimming in the next few days while Benedict dozed, his head lulling to the side as the carriage made its way back to Kent. He watched absentmindedly as the green fields shone under the summer sun, the landscape growing more and more familiar until they were pulling into Aubrey Hall’s drive, a cluster of people waiting for them in front of the house. As the coach pulled up next to the marble steps, stirring Benedict of his nap, he began to recognise the people waiting for them.
There was his mother, her belly already pronounced under the waistline of her dress, and his father holding little Gregory, who was trying desperately to escape his father’s arms. Lady Mary stood next to his mother, as calm and serene as ever. And there was Daph and Colin side by side. His second brother had hit a growth spurt during the 6 months he’d been away, Kate had informed him in her letters, and had finally surpassed Daphne in height, much to his sister’s annoyance. Edwina stood between Eloise and Francesca, the three sporting girlish smiles and childish joy. And right behind them…
The coach had already stopped and Benedict was climbing out of it by the time Anthony’s eyes locked on Kate. Kate, who he hadn’t seen since the end of the previous summer as she had been visiting family in Somerset when he returned home for Christmas. Kate, who was beaming at him, her entire face lit up with her smile. Kate, whose wild dark curls were trapped in a loose braid over her shoulder, her midnight blue-green dress shining under the midday sun.
Kate, who looked like the most beautiful thing Anthony had ever seen in his entire life.
She was already next to the carriage, greeting Benedict when he moved to get out. Something had changed, and he couldn’t exactly pinpoint what. It was still Kate, the big, brown eyes, the black curly hair, the long legs and slender arms. But there was something new about her. Something new about the way she held herself, shoulders firm and head held high proudly. Something in the air around her made her skin glow and her eyes shine. She was not the scrawny teen he left behind last summer, apparently growing into her long limbs, her dress waist hugging her body beautifully as she moved in fluid, graceful motions.
He couldn’t stop looking at her.
It turned out to be a problem, stepping down from the coach with his eyes glued to her. Worried shouts ran through the open air as his foot completely missed the step, his hand reaching for the carriage’s door in the last possible second, just a hair away from tumbling face-first into the grovel.
“Lost your footing there, did you?” Kate was standing in front of him, laughter in her voice. And by God, he’d give anything to get her to keep laughing like that. He took the hand she was offering to steady him, a thing he’d done a million times, and yet now, as their fingers touched, a jolt of electricity ran up his arm straight to his heart. “Are you alright?”
“Just… lost my balance.” He mumbled, the tip of his ears turning red under her gaze.
“Clumsy.” Her hands reached to fix the lapel of his travel coat, wrinkling her nose adorably before throwing her arms around his neck, crushing her to him. He could barely breathe as he wrapped his arms around her waist, enjoying the way her body fit perfectly into his. It always had. How had he never noticed it before?
He could spend the rest of the day like that, their arms around each other under the sun in front of the house, but they were interrupted by Gregory, who had finally managed to wiggle himself out of his father’s grasp, running straight to Anthony’s legs and he had been forced to let go of Kate to be able to scoop his little brother up. Behind Kate’s shoulder, he could see his father watching them, amusement glomming in his eyes while his mother smothered Benedict in kisses.
“Katie, Ant!” Greg babbled, waving his chubby arms wildly to show her that his brother had arrived. His mother had written that Greggy was very much taken with Kate, always toddling after her as she brought Edwina to visit his sisters at Aubrey Hall.
“Yes, Greggy. Anthony’s back.” She smiled up at the two brothers, patting Gregory’s hair softly. Anthony wished she’d run her fingers to his hair next.
“Love, allow Benedict some space to breathe.” Edmund had his hands softly on his wife’s shoulders as she pulled away, tears glistening in her eyes. “Perhaps save some of those kisses to Anthony, yes?”
“I don’t think it’s Mama’s kisses Anthony wants,” Benedict mumbled under his breath. Both Anthony and Kate’s faces turned completely scarlet as the Viscount elbowed his second son, Lady Bridgerton rushing forwards to greet her eldest, beloved boy.
“Did you notice something different about Kate?” Anthony had been trying to work up the nerve to ask his brother the question the entire way up to their bedrooms to change from their travel clothes, a bit afraid of the answer he would get.
“Apart from the fact that you spent more time staring at her today than usual, you mean?” Benedict shot Anthony a look from the corner of his eyes.
“Yes, Ben, apart from that.” He rolled his eyes, ignoring the teasing smirk on his brother’s lips. He was too dignified to even try denying his brother’s quip. He had spent a good amount of time staring at Kate.
“No, nothing in particular. Why?” Benedict shrugged.
“I don’t know. Something looks different in her.” Anthony tugged at his cravat nervously.
“Perhaps she changed her hair a bit?” Benedict offered, completely uselessly.
“That’s not it.” Anthony sighed, shaking his head dejectedly. He couldn’t say exactly what had changed about her and it was driving him mad. “It’s something about her…”
“I can’t help you, mate.” Benedict shrugged again, stopping at the door to his room. “She looks the same to me.”
Anthony couldn’t help but think that, for an artist, his brother was really quite unobservant.
Dinner was an informal affair. Apart from Gregory, who in his childish excitement managed to fall asleep before it was time for them to sit down, all the Bridgerton and Sharmas were in attendance. Anthony sat amidst the chaos of his family, his eyes still fixed on Kate who was sitting between him and Benedict. She looked breathtaking under the light of the candles, her curls escaping her braid, framing her face in a dark ring of hair.
“Anthony!” Her voice snapped him of his reverie and he noticed she had been talking to him. Behind her, Benedict was grinning humorously.
“What?” She huffed in annoyance at his question.
“I asked you if you are excited to go to Oxford!”
“Oh, Oxford, yes.” He nodded, his mind already flying away from him as he watched her take a bite of her raspberry pie, the sugary red filling tainting her full lips crimson. “At the end of the summer. Right.”
“What’s wrong with you today?” Her voice was laced with amusement. Next to her, Benedict wasn’t even trying to hide his cackling at the interaction.
“I just….” He shrugged, trying to focus on his own desert. It tasted like summer afternoons hiding in the tree house, giggling with dirty hands. “Long day. Travelling.”
“I found it perfectly pleasant,” Ben added, after a huge bite of pie. Kate rolled her eyes and Anthony huffed.
“That’s because carriages lull you to sleep.” She said, at the same moment Anthony grumbled annoyedly:
“You slept the entire way.” The three of them exchanged looks before they burst out in laughter. It felt as if life was back to normal. The three of them laughing together as it always had been.
“I’m sure you’ll be able to relax now that you’re back.” All the air seemed to escape Anthony’s lungs in one quick huff as her hand wrapped around his softly under the table. Anthony’s mouth was open, but his mind was devoid of anything to say back to her. No teasing quip, no thankful remark, not even a silly barb. The only thing on his head at the moment was her bright smile and their bare hands laced together under the tablecloth.
Anthony was saved from having to say anything when his father stood from his seat at the head of the table, raising his flute in a toast for the return of his boys and his eldest son’s graduation. Glasses were raised with cheers and joyous cries, laughter ringing as Edwina and Eloise tried to clink their glasses only to spill half their lemonade on each other.
Throughout the entire chaos of celebration, Kate’s fingers remained tightly entwined with Anthony’s.
“You know, Brother,” Anthony turns on his seat at the edge of his bed to find Benedict staring at him, his face alight with mirth. He was by Anthony’s bedroom door, completely carefree as he leaned on the jamb, only in his partially opened white undershirt and sleep pants. “You used to be better at keeping yourself together than that.”
Anthony considered for a minute if he should play dumb and tell his brother he had no clue what he is talking about, but he decided against it. There was no point. Benedict had already noticed his struggles and denying it would only be a waste of time and energy.
“I don’t understand what is wrong with me.” Anthony dropped back to the bed with a groan, tugging on his hair forcefully with his hands.
“There is a straightforward explanation to it, Ant,” Ben said, sitting next to him on Anthony’s bed. “You are a fool. You’ve always been, especially for Kate.”
“I’ve told you,” Anthony said from between the fingers covering his face. “There is something different about her.”
“Have you ever stopped to consider that maybe there is something different about you?” He lifted his head to stare at Benedict with a confused frown.
“What?” What could have changed within him in the past that Ben had realized and he hadn’t? Could his brother really understand his feelings better than he understood them himself?
“Perhaps you’re simply not so smooth anymore, you know, in your old age.” Why did he ever expect anything serious from his brother? Of course, some teasing barb would come out of it. He dropped his head back to the mattress dejectedly.
“You are ridiculous and I’m not certain why I still listen to you.”
“You could barely get a full sentence out all night.” Benedict’s mirth made him groan.
“I got distracted, that’s all.”
“I just hope that I do not end up like you in my old years.” He added with a dramatic flare of hands.
“I am two years your senior, you arse.” Anthony tossed one of his bed cushions, hitting him on the side of the face which sent both brothers rolling with laughter.
“I am still smooth, thank you very much,” Anthony grumbled as their laughs started to die down.
“I’m sure you are.”
“I am!”
“Well, Brother.” Benedict rose from his seat, tossing the cushion back to Anthony’s side. “I wish you all the luck on your endeavour of speaking a full sentence to Kate tomorrow, you know, with all your smoothness.” Anthony groaned, remembering the whispered promise of her returning tomorrow for their game before she jumped onto her family’s carriage after dinner. Benedict’s humorous laughter followed him out of the room.
The following day would clearly be a long one.
By the next morning, Anthony was very close to deciding on not even leaving his bed at all. He spent his entire night filled with dreams of Kate. Dreams that had him waking up with her name on his lips and his body taunt with desire. Dreams of her body against his, his lips on hers, of his hands under her dress, caressing her long legs, of her nimble fingers tugging on his hair forcefully.
It was not the first time Anthony had woken up to these sorts of dreams, the type that left his body aching and his sleep trousers uncomfortably tight. It was the first time Kate was featured in one of them though. It was always usually some faceless woman, the dream focused sorely on other parts of the body below the neck.
It was much easier to take himself in hand when the dream is about someone he didn’t really know. He felt guilty about doing anything with the image of Kate burned behind his eyelids. Every time he closed his eyes, he could see her plump lips, swollen from kissing, her long tanned legs that went on forever, of the way her body shivered as his hand and mouth explored every single crane and nook of her body.
He tried a million different ways to get his body to calm down, to push her away from his mind enough so he could turn back to sleep, but every time his eyelids fell closed she'd be there, smiling devilishly at him clad only in his sheets. By the fourth time he woke up panting, he’d given up. Shame burned deeply in his chest as he reached to unlace his trousers.
He was standing in the entrance hall next to his mother and Ben when Kate arrived, Edwina having already dashed after El and Frannie in the garden.
“Mama said she’d be over later today for tea, Lady Bridgerton.” She kissed the Viscountess’s cheek.
“That’s quite alright, my dear.” The moment Kate stepped closer to Benedict and him, Anthony’s nose was assaulted by an unfamiliar smell. It grew stronger by the second and at the moment her arms wrapped themselves around him, it hit him so fully it overpowered all other of his senses.
“You smell different.” The words jumped out of him before he could even think about them. His mother gasped, crying out ‘Anthony Bridgerton’ in outrage at his rudeness and Ben’s face was red and breathless as he tried to hold back his roar of cackles, but his eyes remained on Kate. She had taken a step away from him, looking completely taken aback, trying and failing not to look hurt, sending a painful pang through his heart. He hadn’t meant to offend her. “Flowery?”
“It’s probably the lily soap Mama’s cousin got me for Christmas.” Her eyes assessed his face, trying desperately to read him. He could feel his mother and Benedict’s eyes on him as well, but he was still looking at Kate.
“It…” He wracked his brain, trying desperately to get it working enough to form a fully coherent sentence. It didn’t help at all that his body seemed to be conjuring back the images of last night’s dream. “It smells really good.”
“Oh.” Her mouth is parted in surprise, her eyes impossibly wide before her lips curl in a sweet smile. “Thank you.” Her grin turns teasing, her eyes glinting with misfit. “But if you think complements will make me give you my Mallet of Death, you are very much mistaken, Mr. Bridgerton.”
“My mallet, you mean.” Her laugh sends jolts of electricity through his entire body.
“Your Uncle George gave it to me.” She poked a finger at his chest.
“It was not Uncle George’s to give. It was Aunt Billie’s.” This push and pull felt good, comfortable, the two of the bickering as they’ve always done. “And she’s given it to me.”
“But Uncle George named it, so it was his right to give it to me,” She snapped.
“Ah, but the set belongs to Aunt Billie, so it’s mine.”
“We shall see about that in today’s game, I suppose.” And with that, she turned around, Anthony was once again flooded with the smell of lilies from her hair floating behind her as she walked away, leaving them to keep up. And he stood there, his mouth agape, with Benedict dwarfing next to him.
“I do see why these two are Billie and George’s favourites.” He could hear his mother mumble to herself as he scrambled to follow Kate, Benedict right behind him.
Watching Kate with the black Pall Mall mallet clutched to her hand, her coppery skin glistening in the afternoon sun and the wind blowing on her hair is one of the strangest things Anthony has ever experienced. She is a vision in her purple day dress, her arms bare, little beads of sweat forming on her forehead and her most carefree smile adorning her lips.
Anthony managed to snatch the green mallet before Colin dashed for it, Daphne completely comfortable clutching the purple one while Benedict held onto the blue.
Most of Anthony’s concentration had to go to being able to keep up with Kate’s banter without getting completely distracted by the sweet smell of her new soap or her joyous laughter or her bright smile or her beautiful skin or her ridiculously long legs. And as a result, he was being thoroughly trounced at the game.
Every time he aimed a shot, the sound of Kate’s laughter or one of her teasing cheers would reach his ears and his ball would go completely astray. The only person behind him was Daphne and it was her first year playing.
He noticed Ben and Kate seemed to be enjoying themselves at his expense. Kate because she was as fiercely competitive as him and Benedict because he thrived in making fun of Anthony’s newfound inability to have rational thoughts near Kate.
The moment his ball rolled to a stop in the perfect direction to Kate’s, he realized it was all lost. The gleeful jubilation in her eyes was enough to prove he was, as of this moment, completely done for in the match.
“Oh Anthony, it’s such a shame!” It was clear to anyone listening how very not sorry she was for his predicament.
“Kate.” He groaned in warning.
“Wouldn’t it be just horrible if someone hit your ball away from the game?” Her tone was all fake innocence, blinking her eyelashes prettily as she moved to her own ball.
“Don’t.” He warned but it was of no avail. With a triumphant smile, she pulled all her body weight into her swing, forcing her ball to collide with his, sending the green one flying down the sloppy hill and out of sight.
She whooped, jumping in circles around Anthony in joyous celebration, engulfing his world in a blur of dark curls and lily scent.
“Players have to stick to their balls I’m afraid, Ant.” Anthony stared at her as she teased, her blinding smile flashing at him.
There was a whack next to them and they watched as the blue ball hit the black one, making it follow the green’s path towards the valley and trees at the bottom of the hill. Without noticing, Kate had grabbed a hold of Anthony’s bicep, squeezing it angrily as she watched Benedict grin, her mouth open wide.
“You should follow your ball, Kate!” Ben was leaning on the shaft of his mallet, his sleeves, like Anthony’s, rolled to his elbows, his smirk shameless as he mocked her. The murderous glare she was shooting his brother promised hell to pay for his actions. It would be wise for Benedict to watch his back in the following days. Maybe lock his windows before sleep. “Do try to spare Anthony his arm. I think he’s quite fond of it.” All eyes turned to Kate’s fingers around Anthony’s upper arm, turning pale from the force of her grip around his muscle. She dropped his arm with a shake of her head and huffed.
“Come, Anthony.” And with a flip of her head, she was marching down the slope towards their balls, her mallet dangling next to her. Anthony tried to follow, but his legs seemed to be malfunctioning, his body refusing to obey his brain, which in turn was completely taken by the sound of her voice and the smell of her skin.
His legs tangled beneath him, almost sending him straight to the ground. His arms flayed around for a moment before grabbing into Benedict for support to remain standing.
“Real smooth, Brother! Tripping over air.” His entire body was shaking with laughter as he patted Anthony’s shoulder affectionately. “I’m glad to see you still got it.”
Anthony was left with no choice but to follow the path Kate had taken, listening to the sound of her grumbling about their predicament. Even the sigh of her angry frown would send his heart dancing a jig into his chest And he couldn’t even keep his annoyance at her or Benedict for removing him from the game or her theft of his mallet. He wasn’t even really bothered when they both found themselves sitting in a puddle, his laughter joining hers as they ended up on their bums in the mud.

ೃ part 1/??? of my (eren x reader) college au!
ೃ word count: 3000 words
ೃ my nav → my mha writing masterlist
ೃ This is my very first snk x reader fic! so i hope you bear with some errors! qwq
i’ve been following the anime ever since it was released in 2013, and this is the first time i’m going to be writing for it. this month’s manga chapter really took me out so why not channel my sadness thru writing an fluff! eren fic? 🤧 i hope you enjoy either way!
ೃ please do reblog if you enjoyed!! (feel free to add tags too because i love reading them and my heart swells with happiness when people love my work!)
ೃ in which (Y/N) (L/N), 20, still in school, and regretfully-unregretfully-her little girl scout sister's assistant, meets eren jaeger in an embarrassing too innocent door-to-door cookie sale whilst a humiliating party was going on.
cookies, suspicious maybe-maybe-not pot brownies, meddling little sisters and friends, “oh my god they were roommates” vine on replay 24/7, homework, tears, and fairy lights bring them together.
“I’m going to enter now.”
“Ahhh yes, please!”
“Shut up, please.” Eren muttered to himself as he tossed and turned around in his bed, but still couldn’t get to sleep. “When will they ever stop doing this?” Why did Eren’s next-door roommate and his girlfriend have to do this five times a day? They had a lot of stamina for 21-year-olds who didn’t have anything better to do.
Eren’s thoughts eventually brought him to his parents.
His parents- did they even exist?
For pretty much 14 years of Eren’s life, they had been out of town or out of the country. His older brother, Zeke, blonde, bespectacled, tall, and sometimes too far up his own ass older brother who Eren is able to confide in from time to time, recently got a girlfriend whom he’s hopelessly in love with (they’re even thinking about getting married which isn’t really a problem since the girl is genuinely nice to his older brother so Eren is good with her.), so… things in the family had been a bit rough and busy to say the least.
Communication with his parents wasn’t always the best.
Eren would study late at night back when he was seven, because no one bothered to help him with homework. Along with the fact that he wasn’t the brightest kid in class, and he knew that very well, but he had ambition and he was determined to make it big in the world. He focused more on sports, particularly Soccer in middle school and high school, and tried to balance that with his studies. After being granted a Sports Scholarship from Shigashina University, Eren decided to rent and share a flat, living with his batchmates who he met at a mixer party (before Uni started as this whole meet and get to know each other kind of thing) and whom he was so quick to call his ‘friends’, just so that he could get out of the hellhole that was his own house.
But things turned out much worse than expected.
Eren thought that the ‘College Life’ was to focus more on pursuing your future career and make a name for yourself but… it was the other way around.
He thought that after Freshmen year, everyone would take things seriously. Sure, have some drinks, get wasted after finals, or have house parties from time to time. But he was unfortunately, dragged into the wrong crowd. After attending around 5 parties in the first few months of being generalized as one of the infamous and pompous freshman archetypes present in every university, he called it a year and spent the rest of his nights doing homework, projects, playing video games, staying at the school soccer field until 10PM while his roommates were probably smoking crack and not caring about the number of units they needed to take for each of their goddamn subjects.
He was ~living the life~ and now that he regrets most of the decisions he made in freshman year, the only option that he has left was to wait until his third year and move to a different apartment.
Now, here he was, Sophomore year, nearing the end of the semester, and very much eager to get the hell out of here and also study for his upcoming finals on Constitutional Law II, as his professor, Mr. Erwin Smith, was going to throw hands if one of his students score below average on the exam.
“EREN MICK JAEGER! BROOOO!” Eren winces when he hears the shrieky and annoying voice of his flatmate Thomas Wagner, calling out to him. “Wanna go and party with us?” Eren smiles halfheartedly, shaking his head, “Ah, no thanks. I have a game tomorrow and finals coming up on Thursday.” Thomas smirked and wrapped his arm around Eren, “Oh fuck that, live the college life ya spoon.”
“No, really I have to study.”
Thomas frowned and groaned, “Oh god, you’re such a killjoy. Fine, if that’s what you want. Don’t blame us if we tell you to buy some beer down the block.”
Eren cracked an obviously fake laugh and pushed Thomas away from him, “You’re an ass. That only happened once and that was when we first met. Don’t you even dare try to ask me to buy you shit again.”
“Woah. Woah. Woaaaaaah. That was a joke Eren. Loosen up will you?” Thomas raises an eyebrow, clearly taken aback by the brunette’s sudden aggressiveness. He hums Moves like Jaeger by Maroon 5 as a way to spite Eren whilst passing by him down the staircase.
The brunette shook his head, tying his hair into a bun carelessly and sprinting into his room without uttering another word.
Eren just wanted to study. He really did.
Instead, his roommates, all of them, mind you, were all partying in the lounge and the music was too loud and Eren was too annoyed.
They did manage to bring him out and make him stay in the kitchen where he mindlessly glared at anyone who came in. He sighed and tapped his pen restlessly amongst the insane amount of books on the table.
There was a knock.
His roommate, Floch, came in the kitchen with his girlfriend who Eren couldn’t even name with all the women he has brought into the apartment. She was hanging onto his arm and giggling. Floch’s eyes were red and his speech very slow and lazy. "Eren!" he said with a sly grin.
Eren raised an eyebrow, shooting him an irritated look. "What now Floch? Are you here to tell me to take a shot again?" The ginger-haired’s girlfriend giggled once again and kissed Floch’s cheek. Floch laughed and swatted her away, though he missed by a long shot. "Someone's at the door," a thumb pointing to the den. "wouldchumind ge'in it?" another giggle. The girl nodded sloshily. "Yesss! Erenieee get 'em door, please. Be a dearrrrr."
Eren frowned and stared at them menacingly, earning no reaction from the two as they were mad drunk. "You were just in the den," Floch’s eyes widened. "My lovey wovey-we was in the den?" His girlfriend’s mouth went into an O. "Di'nt notice tha'!"
Eren sighed and stood up. He miraculously got through the throng of bodies and to the front door. "Yes?" he called out exasperated, not knowing who was outside.
"Do you want cookies?"
Eren turned and looked to see a little raven-haired girl, a girl scout no less, a blonde-haired boy pulling on a trolley who looked significantly shorter than him, wearing rimmed glasses, and an overall appearance whom his “friends” would immediately label as a nerd they had to be a few feet away from if they saw him and lastly, a girl who looked very tired and very done with life.
Beautiful (h/c)-colored hair, her eyes looked like the starry night sky, twinkling as he catches her gaze and a smile that looked forced, but warm all the same.
A girl who was just absolutely fucking gorgeous.
Eren was captivated. His heart was beating like crazy and he could feel his ears turn red. He would make a fool of himself if he looked red as a tomato right now.
"Um," The girl peeked inside and grimaced, squeezing the hand that was her little sister's shoulder and catching Eren’s gaze. "Mikasa, I don't think these kinds of guys would want cookies."
“Unless they're pot cookies,” Eren almost said. Mikasa pouted and widened her eyes at Eren.
The older girl crouched down and frantically covered her little sister’s eyes. "Nopenopenope, Mi, don't pull that on him."
"But (Y/N)!"
(Y/N).
Her name was (Y/N).
Eren smiled sincerely (for the first time today) and leaned back inside to the drawer by the door to grab the extra cash he and his roommates put there for emergency pizza and stuff. "You know what? You're absolutely brilliant at selling cookies. I'll take one."
Mikasa smiled back at him cheekily and tugged her older sister’s hand. "See, (Y/N)?! He wants some! Go get 'em!”
The raven-haired girl then turned to the blonde teen, practically jumping up and down. “Armin look! We sold another one!"
“We did!” The boy who was apparently named Armin, clapped his hands together, then gave the little girl a high five. “You’re a natural at this Mikasa!”
(Y/N) looked at Eren, then Mikasa, and sighed. She grabbed a bag from the trolley Armin was dragging around and pulled out a box of cookies. Eren grabbed them slowly from her, their hands almost touching as he gave (Y/N) a small smile. The (h/c) girl blushed lightly, though not visible enough for the brunette to notice.
"Hope to see you again!" Eren called out when the siblings said their thank you's and bid farewell.
And, this time, even for the slightest moment, Eren’s serotonin levels were going straight through the roof. His heart was still beating loudly, almost in sync with the trash music his roommates were blaring on the speakers. and for a moment, even just for a moment.
He felt genuine happiness that he hasn’t felt in a very long time.
The three of you continue to walk animatedly, now that the coast was clear and the guy from earlier wasn’t within earshot, your blonde friend just had to break the silence.
Armin smiles, pushing his glasses up to the crook of his nose. “(Y/N), you did see how he looked at you right?” The blonde chuckles softly, catching his best friend off guard.
You blinked. “Him?” You try to stop yourself from smiling, blushing profusely. “Geez Armin, I don’t even know his name yet.”
“I’ll bet you 100 bucks that he goes to our Uni.”
“Even if he does, it’s not like we’ll talk to him or anything. Judging from the place he lives in and the people he was hanging out with, we’re in two completely different worlds.” You shook your head in denial, holding Mikasa’s hand, your interlocked arms swinging playfully. Armin gives you a knowing look in response.
Mikasa continued to wave back at the boy whom they had just sold cookies too. (Y/N) looked over her shoulder and smiled. “Wasn’t he nice (Y/N)?” Mikasa asks her older sister. (Y/N) returned her sister a small smile, “He was.”
"I hope we see him again!"
"I'm sure we will."
The day of Eren’s dreaded finals finally arrive.
He has prepared tirelessly for this. Hours upon hours of hard work. But, before he finally gets his well-deserved sleep, he has a few more hours to cram and absorb more knowledge for his exams.
So, what better way to do so than head straight to the library as soon as it opens at 6 AM?
This time, no one was going to bother him. No annoying roommates and no distractions.
Eren heads over to a table near the coffee and snack machines. He puts down his bag on a seat next to him, and begins to study once again. Looking through the course materials and the lessons that he still didn’t quite understand. Eren was so absorbed with studying and relying on his gut feeling that no other student in this university would think of going to the library at 6 AM on the day of finals… then he’s wrong. Very wrong.
“Sasha, should you even be eating mashed potato this early in the morning?” Armin asks the brunette worriedly, a huge tone of concern in his voice.
“Armin! Don’t chu worry! I ate heavy breakfast! Bacon, Eggs, and Toast! Did you not see me in the kitchen!?” She reassures her blonde friend, continuing to scoop up the mashed potato on a reusable cup.
“Liar.” Connie hissed, narrowing his eyes. “I was awake since 4 AM. Not once did I see you sneak into the kitchen until (Y/N) woke you up.”
“Atatata. Can we… stop with the negative vibes for a second?” Jean tries to become the mediator by holding his hands up against his two friends who were about to start an argument. “It’s finals week. We have to keep a clear mind, body and soul-“
“Jean, you know that’s BS.” You yawn widely, still practically half-asleep.
“Oh, come on! Can’t you just let me be positive just this once!? If we fail this exam I’m going to blame you!“
The five of you continue to talk mindlessly on the way to the library. Connie pushes the glass door open, very much excited to have this huge library all to yourselves.
Until…
There was someone already there.
Your eyes immediately come into contact with Eren’s. His radiant jade eyes staring into yours, mouth practically agape, his hands holding on to wooden chopsticks as the hot air of instant ramen breezes through his face.
“Oh?” Connie blinks. “Guess we aren’t the first ones here then.” He whistles.
“(Y/N)!” Armin nudges you in the arm in an attempt to tease you. “Guess your wish came true huh? We did see him again! By himself too!”
“W-what am I supposed to do exactly?” You turn to Armin, speaking in a hushed whisper.
“Say thank you to him! Offer him to go on a boba date or something!”
“You got the Sasha seal of approval (Y/N)! He’s hot!” Sasha motions you a thumbs up and you can’t help but feel yourself already wanting to die of embarrassment.
The four of them slightly push you towards his table. With your friends cornering you like this, there was no way of escaping this.
All you had to do was talk to him and properly thank him for buying cookies from your little sister.
That was it.
No need for any extra ad-libs or poor and bad attempts of flirtation.
Just thank him (Y/N).
You can do this.
You breathe a hefty sigh then approach his table with confidence. The brunette continues to look up at you whilst turning the page of his reviewer that he wasn’t even looking at.
“Hi again! I just wanted to thank you properly for helping my sister and I, out the other day. Mikasa really appreciated the gesture you did for her, and she couldn’t stop talking about you to our parents since we saw you. You see, none of the other girl scouts want to be paired up with my sister because they think she’s an emotionless and monotonous freak. They’re really mean to her but she really wants to continue being a girl scout so my friend and I accompany her whenever she has to sell cookies!”
“It’s N-no problem!” Eren quickly replies, running a hand through his hair. “Why would they say such horrible things to your sister like that? Judging from the way she acted in front of me, she was quite the opposite. In a positive way of course! Those kids are just assholes who are intimidated because another girl their age is seemingly better than them.”
You giggle in response. “Thank you. I’ll tell Mikasa that you said that!”
There was short silence for a few seconds until you realized that you forgot to say something.
“Ah! I’m (Y/N) (L/N) by the way!”
“Eren.” He smiles, reaching his hand out to you for you to shake. You grip his strong and calloused hand firmly, and Eren could feel his ears turning red again while you were about to blush as red as a tomato.
You hear your friends snickering in the background and you took this as a sign to go back to your table. “I guess, I’ll see you around campus?” You ask, tilting your head. For, you actually really wanted to see him again after this.
“Yea! I’ll be seeing you!” He grins widely, watching you leave where he was seated. His smile then envelops into a frown as soon as you went away then he goes back to studying.
“(Y/N)! (Y/N)!” Connie whispers loudly, calling you over by waving his hand. Why was this dunce being so painfully obvious? “Ask him if he’s looking for an apartment or if he wants to live with us!”
“Already!?” You ask in disbelief, a bit shocked by what Connie had just said. He scoots to the left, as you take a seat between him and Sasha. “Guys, you’ve known him for like… 3 minutes. Only Armin and I actually interacted with him before this.”
“He has to pass the vibe check first.” Jean shrugs, sipping on an iced expresso. “But, yeah, he does seem alright from a few feet away.”
“Come on (Y/N)! Ask him!” Sasha nods approvingly. “It’s weird that he’s studying alone like this while we’re in another table trying to remain unaware that he looks lonely as hell.”
“UMmMM… maybe he wants to study alone because that’s the only way he can focus? That’s a thing that normal people do, Sasha.” You remark sarcastically, trying to think up of more reasons to not approach him again.
Armin clears his throat, “Look, (Y/N), it won’t hurt to try right? Besides, don’t you feel a tiny bit sorry for him? He does seem lonely and you do have a crush on him so… more ways to interact with him right?”
Your shoulders slump and you breathe a defeated sigh. “Okay okay fine.” You make your way to Eren’s table again but before you do, you turn to your friends. “By the way, I don’t really have a crush on him just yet. I just find him cute okay?”
“Yeah yeah.” They say in unison as you continue to walk back to the brunette’s table.
“Hi again Eren!” You wave and try your best not to fumble or look painfully obvious that you were infatuated by him. He looks up and you try your best not to smile like a weirdo.
“Hm?” He hums.
“Would you like to come over to our table and study with us?”
To be continued.

Good morning, afternoon, evening, whatever time you’re listening to this! Welcome to the podcast, where I, Han Jisung, your host — speaking of, should I find a DJ name for myself too? Like, that one podcast has DJ Joohoney right? I should think of something for myself.
Anyways, continuing on! This episode, a letter has been written by our Music Director, Ina! I won't make this too long, as this episode might get too long. I asked for a letter, not a novel. If only you guys can see this, holy crap. It's like 3 pages back to back, oh my gosh. I would read this all on air but it would take ages, so we just shortened the letter and might just publish this letter on our website! I doubt you would be able to read Ina's chicken scrawl, though— ok geez, I'll start! Stop looking at me like that!
Dear Someone,
I'm better off I’ll be better off without you.
Do you remember when we first met? It was freshman year, during the university's festival. You weren't as confident back then, sticking to your group of friends most of the time. The only time you left their side was when they convinced you to talk to me after they saw you sneaking a peek at me. Looking back now, I cringe thinking about our origin story, but freshman Ina thought it was cute. So cute, in fact, that I let you take me out on a date the day after. And even though you spilt soda on me five minutes into the date, the giant stuffed cat and the shy peck on the cheek made it all better.
Fast forward two years, and you managed to weasel your way into my life. You became my best friend, my lover, my anchor all in one. College life was hard, but the assurance that you would be sitting in our spot in the coffee shop on campus, waiting with my favorite drink fueled me to get through my day.
But as many positives there were with you, the negatives were also there.
I became too comfortable. I stood only within the confines of my little bubble consisting of schoolwork and my relationship with you. Everything was just the same, repeating day after day, and it took a toll on me. I made my whole life revolve around you, and somewhere along the line, I forgot that there is more to life besides those two things.
I never really improved from who I was when I entered college, but you certainly have. No longer were you the timid, puffy-faced boy I met back then. You’ve come so far, becoming one of the most confident, talented people this school has ever produced, and I can’t help but feel proud every time I realize that.
Sadly, I can’t say the same for myself.
I love you. I love you so much, Lee Minho. Thank you for always being there, for the past two years. I’ll always be proud of you, but I need to take some time to improve myself so that hopefully, i can be someone you can be proud of too. This self-improvement journey of mine might take some time, but as my mother used to say, if we are truly meant to be together, destiny will find its way to bring us together once again. See you around, I guess.
Forever grateful,
Ina.
P.S. I think I used the wrong phrase on my keyword, so I erased it aha. I started this letter in spite... so yeah. I’m not sure if I really will be better off without you, but I guess only time will tell.
Han Jisung’s voice floated through the earbuds and into Lee Minho’s ears as he sat in an armchair, eyes filled with unshed tears. He hadn't known she felt that way towards herself, and if only he had communicated with her better-
He cuts off his inner monologue after seeing a familiar face approach his table.
“I take it you’ve listened to Jisung’s new podcast episode, hyung?” Hwang Hyunjin, with his freshly dyed black hair, takes a seat in front of Minho, ignoring the older’s protests and settling down with his croissant and iced americano. “Come on, hyung. You can talk to me about this. We’ve known each other for ages!”
“And by ages, you mean half a year?”
“Tomato tomato. It feels way longer. I think being coped up in a studio with each other has that effect.”
“... Touche.”
“ So? How do you feel?” the younger boy inquires, taking a sip from his americano.
Minho took a while to respond, thinking of words to properly describe how he felt at that moment.
“If I’m being honest? I don’t have a clue either. It’ll take a lot for me to get over Ina.” After taking a sip of his own drink, he continued. “Two years, almost three isn’t a short time. It was through her that I became who I am today. It was because of her, that I strived to become a better person. It was because of her that I was able to grow, but..” A soft sigh escaped his lips.
“But at the cost of my growth came her dullness.” Hyunjin made a noise of confusion, muffled by the bread stuffed in his mouth. “Woft dwoh yu mean, hyunf?”
“The thing that really drew me to her that day was just how… vibrant she was. Well, she was standing below a streetlight, but really. It sounds cliche, but if only you could’ve seen her. Wearing a bright yellow shirt, talking excitedly about how fun this experience was going to be. She was truly the light of the party back then, well, college happened. We’re all busy, but they were especially. Even Channie disappears for days at a time coped up in his room to finish a project. He only got a significant other this year! Ina barely had any time to do anything else aside from meeting me and doing schoolwork. I guess she realized that, and uh, yeah. That brings us here.” Minho looked up at Hyunjin, only to see him invested in something on his phone.
“ Yah, why did I even bother telling you.”
You see, dear listeners. Sometimes, relationships don’t turn out the way we want it to go. We think entering a new thing will all be sunshine and rainbows, and it might lead to an ultimatum; having to choose between self-gratification and self-improvement. In Ina’s case, she chose to leave not because she lost feelings, because that’s definitely not the case- ouch! When will you stop throwing things at me? But yes, she chose to leave because she wanted to grow, wanted to get herself out there for a bit, just as hyung had done. That does not mean that all hope is lost for them, though. Maybe someday, when the both of them are ready, their romance will continue again.

Just as you were about to say something else to Mikasa, the doorbell rang, interrupting the moment. She let go of your hair and stood at her full height.
"Are you expecting anyone?" She asked.
"No, we're not." With confusion evident on your face, you got off the stool and lightly kicked it under the counter.
Your eyebrows knitted together as you made your way to the front door.
On the other side of the glass, you saw a blond bearded man struggling to hold around five suitcases. He noticed you reaching for the door handle and grinned widely.
"Surprise!" He shouted and dropped his luggage on the marble floor when the door was fully opened. He raised his arms and tried to hug you. Scowling, you evaded his embrace.
"Zeke, what the hell are you doing here?" Your grip on the door tightened with every word.
Zeke frowned. "Do I need a reason to visit my sister?"
You rolled your eyes. "I'm not your sister. And typically, yes, you would."
"Okay, well, you're like my sister." He paused to adjust his glasses. "Have you forgotten? Eren's twenty-second is coming up. There's so much to do!" His excited facade was transparent to you.
"You didn't care about his twenty-first. Or his twentieth, for that matter. What's the sudden interest in your brother's life?" You raised an eyebrow as he visibly grew nervous.
"Well, you see, uh-" He twiddled his thumbs and your eyes narrowed. "Here's the thing-"
"Spit it out, Zeke." Mikasa cut him off when she rounded the corner. She crossed her arms as she leaned against the staircase railing.
"Mikasa! I didn't know you were back!" Zeke made rapid hand gestures toward her, eager to change the subject.
"I didn't know you were back, either. At least I gave a warning," she uttered, earning an incredulous look from the blond.
"Zeke, why are you here?" you continued.
His eyes briefly shifted to a houseplant before training back on you. "What if I told you I'm not allowed in the state of Nebraska?" He gave you a meek smile and your jaw dropped.
Mikasa snorted. "What the hell did you do in Nebraska?"
"Nothing!" he assured. "It's just that I may or may not be several million dollars in debt and on the run from the police." He looked down at his muddy boots in shame.
"You're WHAT?" You gaped at him. You'd known Zeke long enough to have it figured out that he brought trouble wherever he went but he was usually careful enough not to get banned from a state.
"It's not as bad as you think! I just got into a little quarrel with some guys. Everything is fine. Just let me stay here for a while," he said sheepishly.
"I am not letting a fugitive stay in my home!" you exclaimed.
"I'm not a fugitive! There's no need to use terms like that!"
"You're banned from Nebraska! I'll call you whatever I want!"
"What's all the commotion about?" Eren was walking down the stairs when he saw his older brother at the door. His mouth dropped open and he gripped the railing beside him. "Zeke?!"
"Why didn't you tell me your brother was in town?" You glared up at him.
"Because I didn't know!" He started to flail his arms around while simultaneously trying to make sense of the situation.
"Hey, little brother. Can I sleep in your room?"
"No!"
"Zeke's not allowed in Nebraska," Mikasa informed.
"What?!" Eren clutched the railing with one hand and his head with the other whilst continuing his descent down the stairs. "What even is Nebraska?" he mumbled with wide eyes.
"Doesn't matter. I wanna know how he managed to be banned from it." You glowered at the man in front of you.
"Y/n, will you please let me inside? It's cold even in March, you know." Zeke pleaded and pretended to shiver.
You glanced back at Eren for a sign of his approval. The house was yours, but Zeke was his brother. It wasn't like this was the first time he needed to stay over, anyway. Unlike mere seconds before, he now held a serious expression. He nodded at you and beckoned for Zeke to follow him.
He heaved a relieved sigh and nearly tackled you with a hug. "Thank you so much, Y/n! You won't regret this, I promise."
It felt like your bones were being crushed by his weight as your face was pushed up against his jacket. He reeked of an old car. "Okay, get off me, old man!" Your voice was muffled as you tried to push him away. He backed up and brushed your shoulders off before grabbing his luggage and disappeared into the basement with his younger brother.
You sighed heavily and plopped down on the stairs. "He got mud all over my floors. I just cleaned them too." Your head fell into your hands as you stressed over Zeke's sudden arrival. As if there wasn't enough on your plate already.
Mikasa laughed quietly as she draped an arm around your shoulders and sat down beside you. The sudden contact made your ears burn red. "Any particular reason for cleaning?" she hinted teasingly.
You lifted your head as you apprehensively stammered out a poor explanation.
She laughed at you again and you couldn't help but wonder if it's always been that easy to make her laugh. You thought about it for a moment and concluded to yourself that it didn't matter what made her laugh, as long as you got to hear it.
A dreamy smile spread across your face as you watched how her newly short hair fell in front of her eyes when she laughed like that.
It seemed she noticed your thoughtful gaze because she tucked the hair behind her ear and peered down at you. "What are you looking at?" she whispered.
"You."
The sound of footsteps resounded from the stairs behind you. "Woah, I hope I'm not interrupting anything," Jean smirked when he saw how close you and Mikasa were. He parted the two of you by removing Mikasa's arm so he could walk in between.
Your face grew red when you realized what you had said to her and it grew even redder when you noticed Mikasa had a similar amount of color dusting her cheeks.
"Heads up, I'm going to Marco's right now so if anyone asks that's where I'll be." He corrected the slight wrinkles in his new shirt and grabbed his keys from the key-hook.
Mikasa was quick to add to his words. "It's nice to see you and Marco are still going strong. I'm happy for you, Jean, really." She smiled up at him honestly.
Jean's tinted cheeks gave away his embarrassment. "Oh, thanks. Uh, I'm also really happy for, um, whatever you guys have going on." He grinned but quickly covered his mouth when he saw a look of distress flash across your face. "Uh, sorry, I have to go now. See you guys later." He mumbled another apology and turned sharply on his heel to make a mad dash at the front door.
Mikasa chuckled and shook her head. "He can be such a dork sometimes," she said when the door closed behind him.
"That's true," you admitted softly. You were a little displeased that she kept her arm in her lap instead of wrapping it around you again now that Jean had vanished.
"I take it Zeke's kept up with his habits since I've been gone?" she assumed.
An exasperated sigh left your lips. "He shows up at least once or twice a year wanting to stay. He always owes somebody money but, as far as I know, this is the first time he's been permanently banned from a state. I don't love letting criminals in my household but you know how Eren gets."
"I see. I do remember how angry he'd get with us when we wanted Zeke to leave," she recalled dejectedly.
"I just wish he wouldn't get his hopes up every time he asks to stay." You frowned and tapped your fingers against the wooden stair you sat on.
"I hope he can stay long enough for Eren's twenty-second. It'd be nice if he could spend his birthday with him."
"That can be arranged." You ran a shaky hand through your hair. "Will you be okay at a party for him?" you inquired timidly. Considering what happened the last time she was at a party, you felt the need to know if she'd be alright with going since Eren's birthday was rapidly approaching.
Mikasa was surprised by the question. "Of course I will be. Y/n, you know I'm over what happened. You don't have to worry about what I think. It's cute you care, though." She squeezed your shoulder gently and gave you a reassuring smile.
Before you could respond, she stood from her position next to you and started up the stairs. "I'm gonna get changed. I'll see you later."
When she was out of your sight, you gave a final weighted sigh. You had to figure out what you were going to do with Zeke. The feelings that came with Mikasa being home already clouded your mind, not to mention the stress of Hitch on your ass as well.
For Eren's sake, Zeke should stay for a little bit. Mikasa suggested he should leave once Eren's birthday passes and that made sense. However, that would mean he'd be living in your house for two weeks.
You groaned and leaned back. There was only one person who would know how to help. You spun around and scrambled up the creaky stairs.
Facing the office door, you opened it and watched Armin move hastily to turn off their monitor.
"What are you doing?" You raised an eyebrow and leaned on the doorframe.
"Important research." He swiveled the chair to face you and rested his arms in his lap.
"Yeah, right," you snickered. "Did you know Zeke is here?"
Armin nodded. "I overheard everything. It's not like you people are quiet."
"Okay, so what should I do about it?" Moving to sit on the couch, you placed your hands on the cushions under you.
They shrugged. "I don't know. What should you do about it?"
"Come on, Armin. I came in here because I need your help with this." You sent him a worried glance.
"Y/n, at the end of the day, this is your house. You decide who stays and who doesn't. If you want him here, let him stay. If you don't, kick him out."
He couldn't just ignore the obvious issue present. "But what about Eren?"
"What about him? Eren respects you more than he respects anyone else. He wouldn't want to do something if you weren't comfortable with it. The guy trusts you with his life." He spoke like the answer was so clear.
You pursed your lips and thought over what they said. "I don't want to hurt him, though."
He wore a compassionate smile. "None of us do, but the difference between us is that he would listen to you. So, with that said, how long will you let Zeke stay?"
You looked down at your hands and thought back to your conversation with Mikasa and about the conversation you just had with the man across from you. "He can stay until Eren's birthday party. When that's passed, he'll have to leave."
When you looked up, you noticed Armin was still smiling at you. "I knew you'd make a good decision."
"I always do, don't I?" You joked.
He snorted and adjusted his chair to face his computer again. "You wouldn't be able to without me."
You feigned offense and stood up. "You're too cruel."
"Sure I am. Now leave my office, peasant. I'm busy." He waved you away with a dramatic flair of his hand.
You scoffed. "I bet you don't have actual work to do and you're just being a freak on the internet, like usual."
He flipped you off. "If you don't leave I'll have to use brute force."
"Whatever, whatever, Armeen, don't be harsh." You sauntered out of the office before he could scold you about the nickname.

Attention and Care
pairing: Jimin x female reader
genre: angst, fluff, established relationship au
word count: 2.8k | reading time: 14 min
warnings: none
summary: Jimin must be the only person in the world who complains about his girlfriend not complaining... When Amy doesn't pester him to come home early (like the rest of the members) he starts thinking she might not care for him as much.
A/N: Amy=y/n basically, she’s the reader, I just wanted to use a name instead of y/n. It comes from Army! This is the first fic I write on here. I will post more soon and probably create a masterlist after I have a few. Also, there could be a smutty part 2 if you guys like this one!
Masterlist | Read on AO3
Yoongi's phone vibrated on the table. The screen lit up and illuminated his face as he peeked over it. The rest of the boys groaned.
"Is it your girl?" Hoseok asked with his mouth full. "Are you going to leave already?"
"No, that's not it…" Yoongi mumbled, picking up his chopsticks again and going for the barbequed ribs at the center of the table.
"Ah, hyung. We don't even get to eat all together anymore," Jungkook complained. "Don't go yet."
"What are you even talking about, we're together all the time. We work all day."
"Yes, but we don't eat like this. You all go back to your girlfriends or whatever," the youngest continued, pouting.
"Well, what did you expect?" Jimin laughed, covering his mouth with his unoccupied hand. "We want to spend time with the people we love, too."
Jin waved his hands around. "Ah, leave him. He's just sulky 'cause he's still single." Immediately, he let out a short, high-pitched scream when Jungkook punched him on his side. As the two continued arguing, Yoongi's phone vibrated again. This time he picked it up and read through his texts, and before he could even reply to his girlfriend, the members spoke up again.
"She's really impatient, isn't she?" Hoseok joked.
"Does she miss you so much? Are you going to go to her?" Taehyung added.
"Honestly, it's getting somewhat late. I'll leave in a bit too." Namjoon seemed to take his hyung's side, although in reality, he knew someone was waiting for him, too.
"Ah… sorry guys," Yoongi said and got up, eyes still glued to his phone. "I'll leave first."
There were a couple of sighs and complains, but he didn't stay long enough to listen to them. He grabbed his coat and was out of the room. It wasn't like they weren't used to this, anyway. Every time they decided to hang out like this, someone would bail or call it an early night for the sake of spending time with their partners. Whether it was Yoongi the one to go first, or Hoseok, or Namjoon, once someone broke the group, the others seemed to disappear very easily.
"Oh, come on, Jimin," Taehyung looked at his best friend with sympathetic eyes. "You know how it is- she'll start getting jealous and be moody if I stay here too late. She hasn't seen me all day, you understand that, right?" He talked while he put on his coat.
"Neither has my girlfriend, but it's not like she'll make a scene because I'm out having dinner with my friends," Jimin replied.
Tae glanced at him one last time. "Well, what can I say? You have a very cool girlfriend. Goodnight!" he called and left.
"Yeah right!" Jungkook scoffed. "He's only using his girl as an excuse. I know he really just wants to go see her instead of stay here."
Jimin looked down at his mostly empty plate. He took a deep breath as he played with the leftovers, pushing them around in circles. "I don't know…" he mumbled. He quietly took his phone out of his pocket, under the table. It was 10:13 pm and there were only three of them left. And he had no texts, no missed calls. He put his phone back in his pocket and looked at the boys again. "You see how they always get calls and stuff? Maybe they really are waiting for them at home. What if they get in trouble?"
"For what? Having a late dinner with their members? It's not like we're hanging out with other women, anyway."
Jin suddenly stood up, earning a death stare from the maknae. "I'm leaving too. I promised I'd be back by 10, I don't want her to worry, you know?"
Jungkook didn't even protest. He just looked at the only other member left there with a defeated look in his eyes. "Jimin…" he sighed. "You're the only one who doesn't dump me. Even though you're in a relationship, you still find time for me. I appreciate that."
The older boy bit his bottom lip aggressively. He rolled his eyes and went back to playing with his food. "Sure. I have a girlfriend, that doesn't mean I'll stop hanging out with you," he said sounding almost angry. Jungkook just thought he shared his frustration.
"Exactly!" he exclaimed, stuffing his mouth with whatever meat was left on the table. Jimin eyed him, momentarily wondering how he could still be eating. He took out his phone again, just enough to check the screen, and sighed when there was nothing new.
"You really do have the coolest girlfriend, hyung," the boy spoke after he swallowed. "She never complains, right? I like Amy. Should I just come over to hang out with you two after this? Since everyone else left?"
His eyes widened at that and he whipped his head to the side. "No!" he said before he had come up with an excuse as to why. "Uh… well... I'm really tired today, Jungkookie." He lowered his voice and started rubbing the back of his neck for extra effect. "I want to go to sleep. Maybe you can come tomorrow?" But Jungkook just narrowed his eyes at his lame act. "Amy will have probably fallen asleep already, anyway. That must be why she hasn't called me yet."
That seemed to convince him a little bit. He dropped his shoulders and pouted. "Alright," he agreed. "Let's go home. Tomorrow all three of us can watch a movie or something after dance practice, right?"
Jimin was already on his feet before Jungkook finished his sentence. "Yeah, a movie sounds good. Let's go."
He arrived outside your shared apartment at 10:54 pm. Looking at the closed door, he wondered whether you had actually fallen asleep. He knew you were quite a night owl, but he just thought maybe that would be a decent excuse. Or maybe it'd be worse.
"Oh, you're here?"
He almost didn't hear your voice, lost in thought as he were. But it brought him back to earth, and he noticed you sat at the corner of the couch, a lamp by your side and a book in your hands. You smiled warmly and marked the page you were at before closing your book and getting up to walk to your boyfriend.
"What's with the long face? Did something happen?"
"Huh?" Jimin's eyebrows shot up, only then letting go of the door handle he was clenching. He ran a hand through his hair, avoiding eye contact. "Uh… no, nothing."
You tilted your head to the side and gave him a playful but incredulous look. You put your hands on his waist and pulled him slightly towards you, but he didn't come as easily as he normally did. "You sure? Because you're literally pouting right now," you remarked, placing a peck on his puffy lips.
"It's just that…" Jimin ran a hand over his face, rubbing his eyes. He pulled away, his shoulders heavily going up and down as he sighed. He looked at you with the corner of his eyes. "What did you do while I was out?"
"Oh, well…" Your eyes lit up and you cracked a cocky smile, swaying slightly as you smoothly started walking towards the kitchen. "I don't know if you noticed anything when you walked in, but I actually–"
"Did you even care if I came back?"
You froze in your place. Your smile dropped, a frown taking its place in your face. "Jimin… what?"
He just gave you a casual shrug, as if he was just spitballing. "I don't know, did you care when I came back, or if I came back at all?"
"What are you even talking about?" You walked closer. "What do you mean?"
"I mean… Do you care whether we're together or not? Do you care about me?"
You placed your hands on his shoulders to look at him better. He wasn't avoiding your eyes anymore; instead, he was piercing through them with his unblinking, watery ones. "Jimin, baby, did you drink? Of course I care about you, what kind of question is that?"
He simply said: "Oh," and munched on his bottom lip. You grabbed both his cheeks, but he pulled you away. He turned around, not to go anywhere. He just stood there, facing the wall.
"Baby, why would you ask me something like that?" you repeated.
"Oh, no reason. Just 'cause you never seem to care if I'm with the boys instead of you. You never care if I work all day or don't see you for weeks. You don't even care when I have to work with other women. That's why I'm asking; do you even care about me?"
You closed your eyes shut and shook your head. Did you hear that right? "Wait… When you say I don't care about you, you mean I don't complain and I don't get jealous?"
Jimin finally turned back around. He ran both his hands through his hair, pulling at it. "I- I'm not saying I want you to complain, I just– I mean, why don't you ever ask me to spend more time with you?"
"Because I know you have work and other responsibilities! I respect that. Did you not want me to be understanding or something?"
"No but… like, when I'm not working. You could say we have to be together all the time. You only get to see so little of me, and you don't even want that?"
You laughed. How was this even a real argument? You looked towards the kitchen and your laughter turned bitter and stopped abruptly. "Are you serious right now?" Jimin's eyebrows dropped at the sudden change in your tone. "You think I like that you're working all the time? That we can't even go on a date, that I only get to see you with the stopwatch? When you leave for months to go on tour, do you think I throw parties back here? No, I go to sleep every night alone, with nothing to distract me."
Jimin took a step back. He hadn't expected you to talk back like this. Or actually, he hadn't expected you to have thought about this before, which you clearly had. "If you feel like that, why don't you show it? Why don't you say anything?" he said trying his best to keep his sulky posture.
You took one look at his pouty lips and remembered it wasn't your place to get angry right now. You had admittedly gotten a little offended that your boyfriend would even think something like that, but you should be reassuring him he's wrong, not opening up a new argument. You sighed while slightly rolling your eyes. Your hands found his chubby cheeks and you pulled him close.
"Because I know this is difficult. I knew the moment I decided to get into this relationship." You caressed his cheekbone and moved a hair strand away from his eyes. "It's difficult for me and it's difficult for you, and I didn't want to make it even more so by complaining all the time. Jimin…" you whispered his name as delicately as you could, giving him no other choice but to look at you, "–of course I want to be with you as much as I can. If it was up to me, I'd be with you 24/7. But I understand you can't spend all your free time on me. What do you want me to do, keep you on a leash? Ban you from seeing your friends or anyone other than me?"
Your boyfriend looked down and kicked his foot, his tongue probing at his cheek. "That'd be better than not even sending me a text while I'm out…"
You started sulking, too. It was true, you didn't send him any texts that evening. And maybe, just maybe, that could be an excuse to feel a little neglected. But it just happened so, and he was reading too much into it. "I knew you were with the boys, I didn't want to disturb you…" you mumbled your explanation.
Jimin didn't raise his head, but raised his eyes, looking up at you, still with that same pout. "All the other guys constantly get texts and calls from their girlfriends asking them to come home, it's not like one more text from you would be a hassle…"
You bit your lower lip. "I didn't know…" You pulled him closer and left a tiny peck on his lips. "I'm sorry, I didn't know baby." You pecked him again. "From now on, I promise that I will text you anytime I miss you, just to let you know. And if you can come see me, even better."
Although his expression didn't change much –his frown might have gotten even deeper, actually– you could tell that his mood had taken a 180° turn. Jimin made a sound of contentment in the back of his throat. His small fingers crept up your pajama shirt and grabbed it tightly. He quickly pecked your lips, too, as if he was trying to do it before you could stop him.
"You don't need to worry about seeming clingy, Amy. Give me all the clingy you got, I really don't mind," he spoke sheepishly.
You chuckled. "You don't mind? You seem like you desperately need it, actually." You managed to get a glimpse of your boyfriend's blush before he buried his face in the crook of your neck. "Ah, what am I going to do with you…" you laughed, fluffing his hair and rubbing his back. "You know, you must be the only person in the world who complains about his girlfriend not complaining."
Jimin pulled back looking all offended. "I'm not complaining! I'm just- it's just, you know, complaining is a lot better than not saying anything. If you don't say anything then I'll just think you don't care."
Before he could pout again, you grabbed his face and squished his lips together. "No… You know, I can't always tell you everything," you said. "And sometimes it's better that we're not together." Jimin's eyes looked like they were going to pop off his head. You just went over this whole argument, and this is what you decide to say? He opened his mouth all wide and round, ready to go off in his thick satoori accent, when you squished his lips even more and hushed him. "Tonight, for example, just because I didn't text you didn't mean I wasn't thinking about you." You finally released him, taking his hand into yours and walking towards the kitchen. "I tried to ask you this when you came in but… didn't you notice anything?"
Jimin frowned. He looked around, perked his ears, sniffed the room… His mouth formed a tiny 'o' and he looked at you innocently. "What's that smell?"
You pouted at him, trying to look a little hurt, while you opened the oven. "Well… while you were out with your buddies, I got kinda bored. And I decided to bake you a cake for when you come home."
"A cake?" Jimin chirped and moved immediately to grab the pan from your hands. It wasn't anything too elaborate, a simple chocolate cake with no decorations or anything. You just liked baking stuff when you had nothing much to do. "For me?" your boyfriend asked, suddenly regretting ever starting an argument with you.
"I'll eat too, what did you think?" you chuckled.
After you had cut a few slices, warmed up a couple of cups of milk to go with it, too, you watched your boyfriend munch on the warm cake from across the counter. You noticed how he was sitting, with his legs spread out and his arms supporting most of his body weight. He looked tired, something you had missed when he walked in due to his energetic temper. You stuffed your face with the last bite of cake and stared at his thighs. He wanted clingy, right? You got up and walked to him, sitting on his lap while making sure you didn't put too much weight on him. You snaked an arm over his neck and used your other hand to feed him a few more bites.
"So…" you purred. "Do you think I should make you feel good tonight to show you how much I care about you?" Jimin stopped chewing, looked in your eyes, and swallowed. A smirk started forming on his lips and he almost opened his mouth to talk, when you continued. "Or should you make me feel good as an apology for ever doubting me?"
Your fingertips fondled with the tiny hair at the back of his neck and you felt how he got goosebumps just by that. Not ever looking away, he clapped his hands together to rid them of any crumbs, and grabbed your waist, urging you to straddle him. His smirk appeared on his lips again and his stare got darker, pupils dilated, head slightly lowered.
"Hmm… I think we got time for both."

Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock
The sound of the clock almost lulled you to sleep. Exhaustion was finally taking a toll on your whole body due to the continuous murder cases for the past weeks. You and your teammates were sent to different crime scenes to assist the bureau, and especially to ensure the safety of the city of Seoul.
A sound of glass being placed on the table interrupted your eyelids from fully closing. You looked up to see your trusted partner, Major Song Yuqi. She chuckled at your vulnerable state then took a sit across you.
"It's pretty rare to see you that tired, Y/n." She mocked playfully.
You rolled your eyes out of annoyance and clearly, your day won't get any better.
"Yeah right,"
She gestured you to drink the liquid that she mainly prepared to ease your troubled mind. You casted a look of doubt to your mischievous friend before shrugging your shoulders and sipped on the hot tea. A delightful sigh came out from your mouth as the warm liquid rushed down on your throat.
"Damn, that's much better... Thanks, Yuqi." You smiled gently which made the latter feel contented.
"It's nothing, Lead Inspector."
"Oh! Today's finally the day we elect a new mayor! Who are you going to vote for?" She added while pacing around your room excitingly.
"Huh? I don't know yet..." You replied nonchalantly.
"Well I'm going for Kwon Boa, but don't tell chief though or he'd go spare!" You chuckled at your partner's antics.
Seoul is currently celebrating the election between the mayoral candidates – Choi Siwon (red party) and Kwon Boa (blue party). Both are socialites within the government, with Siwon being the current elected mayor and Boa's aspiring will to lead the city better.
Just then, the door of your office burst open. The two of you immediately rise up and greeted the Police Chief of Seoul, Kim Namjoon.
"There you are, Lead Inspector. I've been searching for you, "
"Speaking of the devil..." You heard Yuqi grumbling under her breath.
You stifled a laugh before welcoming the man inside.
"Well know that you found me, what is it that you want to say, Chief?" Your eyes glanced down to the i voted badge on his chest.
"I'm sure that you guys know that today is an important day! Keeping things secure is our top priority for now, that's why I came here. I want you to go check out the red party's offices because Mayor Siwon has expressed strong fears about the safety of his staffs and I don't want to leave anything to chance." He stated, but you're a little unsure with his sudden firm attitude.
"But chief I've been hoping that we'd be having a day off—"
Yuqi's whine was cut off when the chief yelled out.
"You can't seriously have hoped to be off duty on such a day, Major Song?! Now go and report to me as soon as your team is done patrolling!"
Eventually, you went to the lounge area of the officers with Yuqi tailing behind you and saw your other five teammates chilling without any worries.
"Guys! We'll be heading to the headquarters of the red party, please ready yourselves and we'll leave in a bit."
Sua, Jennie, Joy, Sana, and Miyeon groaned in unison as they struggled to follow your orders.
"Oh stop with the fuss, we are all tired here... Don't worry I'll try to book a week vacation for us." You offered.
Their faces instantly lit up at what you said, causing them to gear up hastily which made you snort.
《at Red party's Headquarters》
You and the girls stepped out from the van then walked up to the entrance of the building.
"Hey Y/n, have you noticed... how tense Chief is acting lately?" Jennie said as she clings to your right arm.
The others immediately agreed to what the older girl uttered.
"I know right, maybe the mayor is putting some kind of pressure on him. I hope it stops after the elections." Sana continued while swiftly wrapping her arm around you.
"We don't know anything about that yet, let's just wait and see."
You finally composed yourself, and as if it was planned, Mayor Siwon appeared with his bodyguards behind him.
"Inspector Y/n, I'm so glad that you girls are here!"
He shook hands with you and the girls looked at him with hidden disgust, unknown to your own oblivious demeanor.
"That goes the same for us, Mr. Choi." You smiled politely.
"Uhm since my headquarters are about to open in an hour or two, I want to make sure everything is safe for my staff's last day of work."
He motioned to come closer to the sealed doors before unlocking them one by one.
"Here, I've opened the doors for you. Please if you can just have a quick look inside, I'll feel safer." You and the girls reluctantly stepped inside the offices.
Your team began to part ways and started to look around the vast hall.
Not even a few seconds had passed, a loud shriek coming from Joy made you dash to her side.
"What's wro– oh shit!" Yuqi cursed as she saw what the latter was screaming about.
There in front of you and the other officers was a man sitting in one of the office chairs, unfortunately, he was shot to death.
"Oh my god! B-but how could this happen, and is that the rookie model, Kwon Jiyoung? What is h-he even doing here?" Joy stuttered due to the terrifying scene.
"I've never liked him at all since he's been involved with some drug scandal, but to die like that and be shot right between the eyes? Damn..." Sua sighed.
Just then, the mayor called out.
"Inspector, is everything alright?" His eyes went wide when he saw Jiyoung's dead body.
"Oh god, I-I swear I had nothing to do with this! I'm innocent and history will prove it!" He exclaimed while starting to walk backwards.
"Calm down, Mr. Choi. We're just going to need to talk to you since Jiyoung was shot in your headquarters, after all." You warned him with your raspy voice.
'Ughh, daddy~' The girls thought except for Yuqi.
( a/n: ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) )
The mayor agreed and ushered you and your team to make it quick.
"Oh God, the press will surely crucify me once they knew about this. We need to do some damage control!"
After calming the man down, you added him to the profile list for being a possible suspect.
You told Jennie, Sana, and Joy to bring the victim's body to the morgue for an autopsy report. The rest are tasked to investigate the crime scene.
"Y/n! I found a receipt, this might be a clue." Miyeon said as you take a look on the faded paper.
It belonged to Jiyoung and it seems like he bought a drink at Lotte Hotel shortly before his death.
"Good job, maybe try checking the hotel after this search? You can bring Detective Jieun with you."
"Yes, Inspector!" She kissed your cheek before going back on finding clues or some fingerprints.
'Why are they so whipped for me...'
===
You and Yuqi are currently talking with the mayor in some private room within the Red party's offices. They are still some questions that Siwon needs to answer to give your team some information.
"Inspector, this cannot be happening! The journalists will have a field day with this if it goes out to the public!" He said and distress was evident on his face.
"I'm afraid that we cannot make this go all away, but I have already informed the Chief. I'm sure he'll keep this case confidential for a lotted time." Your partner reassured the man.
"I can't believe people would do this... Killing a man just to ruin my chances of being re-elected!"
Your brows furrowed at his statement.
"So you are claiming that you were framed?"
He reasoned that Kwon Jiyoung was an avid supporter of his campaign.
"I see, thank you for having time for us Mr. Mayor." You and Yuqi soon left the offices.
《back to Seoul Police Department》
The good news instantly came as the two of you arrived at the station. Coroner Kim Taeyeon reported that the victim was executed cleanly with an extremely precise shot. The killer seems to be right-handed due to the bullet trajectory and definitely knows how to handle a gun.

Meanwhile, Miyeon and Jieun just came back from investigating the lobby and bar of Lotte Hotel.
"Y/n, it's confirmed that Kwon Jiyoung came to the hotel shortly before his death. We also picked up a torn ticket, I'm sure it looks promising!" The detective said while handing you a clear zip bag which contains the clue.
"I see, let me try restore it in my office. I'll see you guys in a bit."
You sauntered towards your office and placed the torn pieces of the ticket on your table. You leaned one of your hands on the hard surface before starting to place the pieces together.
You're now down to the last part when someone back hugged you and nuzzled its face into the crook of your neck.
"Y/n~ let's cuddle~" Sana whined which made you chuckle.
"Now is not the time for that Sana-ssi, besides I just finished restoring the second clue." You showed her the finished product.
The girl snatched it from your hold before skimming through the details of the plane ticket. She also pushed you gently towards the table which made you sit on it, the latter smiled then placed herself on your lap.
"It says that this ticket was brought under Kwon Jiyoung's name. And this is a one-way ticket to Hawaii! Why he would even purchase such kind of trip?" Sana pouted as she turned her face towards you.
"You're right. As far as I know, Jiyoung's sole goal in life is to be a bona fide member of Seoul's exclusive luxury community. He'll never have left for some tropical islands..."
"The credit card number used to buy this ticket will help us understand everything! ...Oh no, it's badly printed... can you help decipher this for me Sana unnie?" You asked cutely.
"O-of course, I'll be done in no time!" You saw her blushing which made you smirk internally.
"Thanks, I really appreciate the help." You pressed a kiss on her forehead before leaving the latter flustered.
Your phone suddenly rang as you pressed answer, not even bothering to look at the name of the caller.
"Yah Park Y/n! We still need to have a chat with Kwon Boa, I'm barging in any second!" Yuqi exclaimed.
You groaned at her childish demeanor.
"I'll be back in an hour, please do your task okay?" You reminded Sana before finally meeting up with Yuqi.
===
《Seoul City Hall》
The press conference of the candidates just ended a few minutes ago, so you took it as an advantage and greeted the head of the blue party.
"Ah, Inspector Park! It's nice to see you, have you voted yet? After what happened today it seems like my victory tonight is almost ensured!" Boa expressed herself happily.
"Are you referring to Kwon Jiyoung's murder?" Yuqi asked as you watched the older woman in front.
"Hmm, I always had a hunch that the red party is populated with bloodthirsty maniacs. I mean making dreadful deeds just to advance their political agenda... Poor Mr. Kwon being shot at their own headquarters, now I'm sure that the citizens of Seoul will vote for me!"
"Anyways, my campaign has always been based on honesty and morals." The mayoral candidate stated.
You just sighed at her egocentric reply.
"I think that's all that we need to know for now, Mrs. Kwon. We'll keep in contact with you, just in case." You sent her a cold gaze before walking away with your partner.
Yuqi grumbled under her breath before draping her arms around your tall frame.
"These goddamn politicians are going to be the death of me..."
You chuckled on what she said.
"Same... Right now we only have two suspects."
"Yeah, we should close this case as soon as we can. By the way, Officer Chan told me that you should check your email soon. He said the mayor's staff sent you a video recording." Your partner explained.
You immediately grabbed your phone then opened your email.
1 unread inbox
You shared a meaningful glance with Yuqi before opening the said message.
A videotape is played which showed Kwon Boa sneaking into the Mayor's office, presumably right before Jiyoung was killed.
"I can't believe this! It's Mrs. Kwon! We should speak to her again right now–"
"Not so fast, Major Song." Chief Kim appeared with some of the SWAT officers behind him.
"Mrs. Kwon can wait, I want you two to go secure the stand where the election's winner will be announced."
"Huh? But Chief we can't lose time on finding–" you tried to argue, but as usual, you were cut off again.
"Finding Mr. Kwon's murderer is top-priority, but so is the election winner's safety! I'm counting on you Inspector Park, go talk to Boa and don't forget to check out the election stand on the way!"
You and your partner had no choice but to follow his orders instantly.
"Every goddamn time, he always cuts us off!" You whined childishly which is pretty rare.
After a few minutes of walking, the two of you arrived at the wide podium. It has two large posters of each party which is hanged opposite to one another. The guest tables were pretty scattered in front of it due to the neglecting visitors who came to watch the awaited conference a while ago.
"Let's split up, you're with the tables then the podium is mine." You instructed Yuqi.
"Yes ma'am!"
The two of you then started to inspect the area thoroughly without missing a single spot. There were a few plant vases on the stage which didn't look suspicious until you saw one that looked a bit unkempt and the soil was disheveled too.
'Oh! Looks like our killer messed up a little, too bad for him...'
You wore your leather gloves before analyzing the vase carefully. It seems like someone previously dug up a hole and covered it carelessly. A smirk crept into your lips as you shoved your hand in the soil and began to try feel any possible foreign object.
"What are you doing?" You looked down to see your partner doubting your current efforts to find a lead.
"I'm searching for any clues? Duh..."
You suddenly felt a hard item and struggled to have a grip on it. After a few seconds of harsh pulling, you finally hauled a small garbage bag with something wrapped completely inside it.
"Look what I got~" you grinned playfully.
"How the fuck did you–"
"I'm going to bring this to the forensic team, have anything useful too?" You asked while stepping down the podium.
"Uh I got this hidden camera on one of the tissue holders, and then I saw this notebook on the floor. The page is torn so I think It looks suspicious so yeah,"
Yuqi handed the portable camera and ripped notebook to you. She also helped on putting all the clues inside your forensic kit whilst you called for Officer Wooseok to pick you up from the city hall.
"I called for Jennie and Joy to help you talk with Mrs. Kwon again, I'm sure you can handle it without me right? I'll go ahead to the station to get this stuff examined." You bid a goodbye to your partner and told her to wait for the other girls.
'Let's see if the fun starts from now on.'
Part 2 coming soon...

Chapter 4
Chapter 3
Time flew by faster and in no time, it was the last week of the semester. Winter breaks were going to begin and you didn't know what to do with your life during the vacation. Lisa was going to be spending it with her family, Dean was going on a road trip with his friends and you had no plans whatsoever. You had no funds to go visit your family, overseas. You were saving for an apartment, and your parents understood. You were, in fact, surprised that they did without any clashes but again, maybe, living away from each other did mend your relationship with your family better. You missed them and, hopefully, they missed you too.
Right now, though, you were trying to figure out how you were going to survive the holidays, browsing the library for some books you could use for your time alone. Older times, you would have enjoyed it. Would get bored, might go into overthinking drives, beat yourself up for things of the past, but still somehow enjoyed the undisturbed two weeks. Now, it was different. Everything was. You were not used to being alone all the time anymore, there was a certain green eyed idiot who made sure to be around you as much as he could. The idiot you've started to dangerously feel for. He introduced you to Cas and Jo, and they were amazing people. Lisa had started spending time with you, too. It was funny. A few months ago, you had literally no one to talk to and now, you barely got to be alone.
"There you are! I've been looking for you."
"Well, I'm honored. Hey, Lis."
"Gotta say your sense of humor has worsened more," she said with a laugh, "Hey. So mom is going on a holiday with her fiancé for the new year. So had to cut the trip short. They invited me but I bailed out"
"I'm sorry," You knew Lisa and her mom's new boyfriend didn't get along all that well. The previous guy her mom was with, though, treated Lisa like her own, and she missed him. For some reason, they broke up and that was why Lisa moved here for college from Michigan. Her mother's new fiance was a nice man, according to Lisa, but she just couldn't give him that place in her heart.
"Yeah. So, yeah, I'll be here a week earlier."
"That's cool. We can catch up on some movies then."
"And bars and parties and hot boys at the beach."
"Oh, Lord." You laughed, and she soon joined you.
"Hey Y/-" You heard Dean stop, abruptly before continuing, "H-Hey."
You looked up at him to see him looking at Lisa, only to realize it was her he actually greeted, "Um..hey, Dean."
He practically tore his gaze away from her to look at you, "Oh, hi, Y/N. You didn't tell me your friend was going to be here with you."
"Uh, you didn't tell me you were going to be coming here, Dean." You laughed awkwardly trying to cut the tension in the air.
"Oh, yeah, actually I was looking for you. Well, I was wondering if you-"
"Y/N, won't you introduce me to your friend?" Lisa chimed in, practically eye-fucking your best friend—and you hated to notice, it was coming right back at her.
"So, you don't know who I am, huh?" Dean smirked, flirting. You couldn't help but roll your eyes.
It was like you weren't even there while they continued to make filthy comments and it was disgusting, you audibly groaned making your way out of the library, "God, ew."
For the rest of the day, you were supposed to be busy. You had assignments to submit before the vacations started, but it seemed like you dropped your concentration somewhere on the road. You couldn't stop wondering what Lisa and Dean were doing right then. Did they kiss? Or were they planning somethi-
You shook your head, shaking away the thoughts. They were your friends, you should be happy for them if it came to something like that. What you felt for Dean was a tiny, little crush which would fade in no time. You weren't going to make things between you two awkward by acting on it. This friendship was important to you, after a long, long while you were willing to put your trust in someone. You didn't even remember the last time you ever talked to someone like you talked to Dean. He was starting to become the closest friend you'd ever had, so yeah, you were going to be happy for him no matter who he dated.
The only thing was...you weren't.
You typed furiously on the computer, trying to ignore the insecurities that were creeping inside you little by little. Dean is going to leave you too. No one will stay. Everyone leaves. Your fingers danced across the keyboard smoothly yet faster than before as you hurried to get the work done so that you could get the hell out of the premises and take a nap. Because you deserve it. You're not worth any love. You're a disgra- You typed the last words and emailed yourself the document, not bringing anything that was going on in your mind show on your face.
"Y/N!" You stopped at the familiar voice, turning around as Lisa made her way towards you, "Guess what?"
"What?" You asked, not surprised by her happy attitude. She was always so happy, it made you wonder what was wrong with you that you couldn't be.
"You never told me you were friends with that hot snack!"
"Um.. actually. I did." You said, rolling your eyes. Obviously she wasn't paying attention.
"No…" you gave her a long look, "you did?"
Exhaling heavily, you made your way to your room, "Lis, I've had a busy day. I'm really really exhausted. Can we gush over how hot Dean is later when I've had some shut eye?"
"No, I didn't stop you to tell how hot Dean is. I mean, yes he is but I wanted to tell you he invited me to the road trip he's going on with his friends." Your eyes shot up to her face, searching for any signs of it being a joke. It wasn't. Dean, actually, did ask her. They met...like...just now?
Lisa must have gotten an idea of your discomfort 'cause her eyes saucered in realization, "oh my god...I'm so sorry, Y/N! I completely forgot about you and the plans we made. I can drop going, I'm so sorry."
"No..it's..it's okay. Really. Go enjoy your holiday. I was, anyway, going to spend my time alone before we made those plans."
She looked at you, guilty, "Are you sure?"
"Yeah.." You smiled in understanding.
"I can always ask Dean to let you tag along."
You chuckled at the irony. You were his best friend, you didn't need anyone else to ask him anything for you. And you even felt a little insulted by the statement. You could do without this favour. You could definitely do without anyone 'letting you' tag along, "Braedon, really, go. I'll be fine on my own."
She went away without another word. The pit in your stomach only seemed to grow as you did your best to drag it aside. You, somehow, managed to stop the slumping of your shoulders as you walked into your room. You changed out of your jeans into your pajamas, ready to call it a day. You made yourself a peanut butter sandwich and was done with all the chores that you settled down on the bed. Switching off the lights, you pulled the warm blanket over your head. It was then that all the thoughts you'd been pushing aside started making appearances.
Your friend 'completely forgot' about you and the plans, your best friend didn't even bother remembering that he forgot about you. It was like you didn't even exist. You knew it was stupid, in fact it was really childish to think like this. Them people have gotten their own lives which DID NOT have to revolve around you. And pretty honestly, you knew no life revolved around you, not even your own. No one would give two shits if you suddenly disappeared, including you. Still, you weren't supposed to feel this way. You weren't supposed to be so much affected because of something like this. Being left out was not something that was happening for the first time to you. But this time, it hurt a little. The thought of you getting replaced bothered a little when it shouldn't. It wasn't a crime or anything. What did you ever do to make a lasting impact in someone's life anyway so that they'd want to keep you forever?
You woke up to constant pounding on your door. Groaning, you got up to open the door.
"I was about to knock the door down, sleepyhead." Dean ruffled your hair playfully as you slapped his hand away annoyed.
"I was sleeping, asshole."
"Shocker."
You looked at him, bored, for a while before widening your eyes and pulling him inside and locking the door behind, "What the hell are you doing here? If the warden saw you, she'd rip me two."
"For a second I thought you were going to kiss me," he snickered sheepishly. "I called you to inform, you didn't pick up." He made his way inside the room, putting the box of pizza and a backpack on the couch. You scrunched up your nose at the action.
"Pizza? Why?"
"Why are you surprised?"
"It was Tuesday. Did I sleep for three fuckin' days straight?!" You said, flabbergasted for a moment until you saw Dean making the most annoyed face ever.
"Y/L/N. It is still Tuesday. Wednesday, actually. And our Friday night outs are at my place, not here where your warden is ready to eat me alive."
"Your point?"
He sighed, "We didn't spend any time together today, Y/N. I saw you earlier, you didn't look well."
You frowned before the memories made their way back, "oh…
"Well that's exactly why I was trying to sleep, Winchester." You scolded, trying to not sound too cold.
"What is it?"
"What?" You turned away from him, walking to your bed, Dean following suit.
"What's wrong? And don't give me there's-nothing-wrong-i'm-okay shit. Tell me." He sat himself beside you as you crawled under the blanket to the other end.
"There's nothing wrong, I'm okay." Dean rolled his eyes as you pulled the covers over your head.
"You know I hate it when you do what I tell you not to."
"Then don't tell me what to do." Your voice came out muffled, as you replied back sharply. He sighed.
When she walked out of the library, groaning as Lisa and him flirted, Dean had noticed. He thought it was just the playful best friend reaction seeing them two flirt with each other, so he let it pass. Later that day, he went to meet Y/N and saw her working on the computer. She would look normal to anyone around there, but Dean had secretly picked up on her habit of doing her work extra smooth when she's stressed. Her shoulders were tensed and eyes sharp. Yep. She was definitely bothered. What he was about to tell her would have to wait, first he needed to know what was bothering her. He decided to talk to her after his class, but by the time his class was over, Y/N was already out of the campus.
"I never got to tell you why I came to talk to you this morning."
"Oh, you came to talk to me? Didn't think I was so lucky." Was that what it was all about? Was she... jealous? But why would she be jealous? She was so darn confusing, it frustrated him sometimes.
"You need to talk to me, Y/N. What's going on?" He said, pulling her blanket to him before she pulled it back.
"Nothing is going on Dean, really. It's nothing. I'm just tired is all."
"And grumpy?"
"And grumpy."
"I need you to know no one is going to take your place, sweetheart." He felt her stiffen just a bit, not enough to be noticed but enough to be noticed by him.
"Stop thinking you're that important to me, Winchester. You're not." He flinched. He knew Y/N didn't mean that, it was just her defence mechanism with some extra sass but it still painfully tug his heart a little bit. She made a lot such comments, mostly playfully, with that serious face but playfully. Maybe it wasn't the comment but the fact that she was hurt that was bothering him? He wouldn't know. One thing he knew, though, was whatever was bothering her, he needed to make her smile. Maybe she noticed his sudden pause because she immediately spoke up, "Sorry. It came out harsher than I intended."
"S'okay. So you're not gonna tell me what's bothering you?"
"Nothing is bothering me Winchester."
"Whatever you say, Y/L/N." He gave up. It bothered him that she had still not opened up to him even when they'd been 'best friends' for so long. Every time he thought she would, she would close off and change the topic. She still was the mystery girl he met at the beginning of the college, a mystery he didn't know how to figure out "So, you coming?"
"Where?"
"The road trip?
"So Lisa did that after all."
"Lisa did what?"
"Nothing. And well, I've got some work so I can't come."
"Yeah I know what work you got. Come on, Y/N. Be easy on yourself sometimes. It's gonna be fun."
"But-"
"Great. So it's a 2 weeks long trip. Pack accordingly and now we have that pizza." He stood up before she could protest and got the pizza.
"How many times are you going to watch this show, Dean? Don't you get bored?" You said taking your third slice.
"As many times as I please, babe. It's Dr. Sexy M.D, it never gets boring." He said casually, thankfully missing the pink that dusted your cheeks at the nickname in the dark.
After a couple more episodes, you were starting to doze off, and so was Dean, "Alright, let's sleep. We have classes tomorrow.
"There's no morning class. Just one more epi." He said, clutching the remote in his hands, like a child, "please?"
"No." He pouted at your response, defeated.
"Okie." He said letting out a small yawn. Sleepy Dean was always adorable, "So it's settled that you're coming with us?"
She paused for a moment before shrugging slightly.
"I guess...yes," he smiled cheekily as she said that, "but, why did you want me there all of a sudden?"
"Because I want you there? It's gonna be fun. I've heard girls need their girl-friends on these tours for some 'girl-company' thing. I invited Lisa, so-"
He stopped abruptly as she stood up and made her way out of the room, "I'll go and throw these boxes, you change in here."
"- that you could get some company." He whispered mostly to himself. What the hell just happened? He shook his head, too sleepy to think about it right now and stripped out of his clothes into his pajamas.
Obviously. There it was. The reason he wanted you there, it's all here. It's because he didn't want Lisa to be alone around people she didn't know. You stood by the sink and chuckled to yourself, feeling a sting in the back of your eyes. Wow.
"Same old easily replaceable Y/N." You whispered.

Chapter 5
A/N: alright. I know I know. I'm a terrible author who do not care about her readers but it's not that. I'm really, genuinely sorry. Life's been really rollercoastery and I've been dealing with stuffs lately. I promise I'll be better next time. And if you could take out a minute of your day and pray for me and a lot of people who need it, please, I'll be really grateful. They say prayers are powerful and I think I can do with them a bit.
Also, please don't do something wrong with yourself. You're worth every effort you make for a better life. Each minute of your life counts, just make sure you keep yourself and others as happy as you can. Be kind to you and others, I'm rooting for you. ❤️
And show some kindness to the animals too, they deserve it. ❤️

Piece of cake 🎂; Yang Jeongin
Genre: Fluff! Friends to lovers au!
Warnings: mild swearing
Word count: 2.8k
A/N: Happy Birthday to our cute maknae Innie, he has grown so much. I’m beyond proud of him, he’s such a beautiful soul I wish nothing but happiness for him. I’m so soft for this boy I’m legit crying.
You were all gathered in the living room.
The four boys standing in front of you staring at each other with confused looks. There was a moment of silence before you snapped at them in annoyance. There was no way they could be any more stupid.
"Do I really have to explained it to you again you doofuses" You raised an eyebrow in disbelief at the sight of the obvious lack of understanding your friends had. Seungmin just moved his hands encouraging you to repeat the plan one more time. You took a deep breath, before continuing, "For the last time, Hyunjin is in charge of distracting jeongin, until we finish decorating" The boy nodded in agreement, he understood his role was probably the most important one, " Felix I need your lungs to blow those balloons" You pointed at the table covered with bags with deflated balloons. "Seungmin and I are in charge of baking the cake" He smiled in excitement. " And I think that's it, simple right, it's a piece of cake"
Someone cleared his throat behind you, clearly irritated at the fact that you didn't assigned him an important task like the others.
" What about me Y/N, what am I supposed to do" He said pouting.
" Jisung you have the most important part" You said reassuring.
" Which is?" He asked euphoric. Clapping his hands.
" Stay here and make sure to not open your huge ass mouth, I promise your contribution is the most helpful one" You said smiling sarcastically. " If anyone dares to ruin this surprise I swear for my life I'll haunt every single one of you in your sleep for the rest of your miserable lives, and you would see what's to live a nightmare with your eyes open, understood" A few scared whispers and some sighs at the end they all came to agreement. Working together as a team to give the youngest, undeniably the best surprise party, needless to say this was carefully planned by you over the course of the last few weeks.
Everyone left, not before settling that Hyunjin would come back exactly at 6 with Jeongin, therefore everything had to be ready before that.
You got into Seungmin's car, he turned on the radio, letting you choose the next song, you both sang along to Taeyon's spark, on the way to the supermarket.
" Get a shopping cart we need to pick up a few things" You said to him, as you entered the local market. Pulling up a list from your bag with all the items needed.
He got the cart and followed you behind like a puppy, through the aisles, helping you pick now and then when you were torn between certain brands.
"So should we make it a chocolate cake or a vanilla cake?" You asked him staring at the two boxes in each one of your hands.
" That's such a simple question Y/N, Chocolate superior" He said looking at you obvious.
"Alright, alright Chef Seungmin let's do chocolate" You said throwing the box into the cart. " Ohhh" you exclaimed fascinated. "We have to get this" You pointed, jumping in the excitement at the cute cake toppers. "Jeongin is going to love the tiny fox sprinkles" You smiled at the resemblance between your best friend and the furry animal.
" You are so whipped Y/N" Seungmin said teasingly.
"Shut up, he's like a little brother to me" You stared at your shoes trying to hide the blush creeping into your soft cheeks.
"Not so little, remember he literally just became an adult today" Seungmin was right. Jeongin was just a year younger than the rest of you, that's why your group tended to baby him the most, and he hated it so much. Now that he was all grown up you wondered if his attitude would change towards your antics.
Once you finished shopping. Seungmin and you went back to the house. You got the groceries from the trunk carrying all the bags, with your hands full, you struggled finding the key to open the door.
"Call Jisung and tell him to move his lazy ass from the couch so he can come and help us"
You heard him comply through the phone but in less than a second the door opened revealing your friend who still looked half asleep.
" Don't stare just stare at me, help me carry these" You said handing him the heavy bags that were already leaving bruises on your wrists.
"Did you guys went to buy cake ingredients or the whole grocery store" He said complaining at the amount of things you got.
" I got a little carried away okay" You confessed taking your shoes off at the door and walking straight to the kitchen.
Seungmin got ingredients from the bags and laid them on top of the kitchen table. You got the molds and the mixer from one of the cabinets, and tied your apron from your waist.
"Crack two eggs" You signaled Seungmin, as you poured the batter into the mixing bowl.
You were spraying the molds with butter so Seungmin could pour the batter and it wouldn't stick to the bottom once the cake was completely cooked. When your phone in your back pocket began to vibrate. You decided to ignore it, since you were extremely focused on your task. But after a couple of more rings you couldn't bear with the annoying sound any longer.
You picked up right away. Not before telling Seungmin to put the molds inside the oven.
"Hyunjin why are you fucking calling me right now " you leaned over the counter trying to wipe off your apron that was covered on white flour and sugar.
"He's been sulking all day Y/N, I even took him to the amusement park but he seems so down is actually depressing, He literally just said to me "This would actually be fun if Y/N would've come with me and not you" I'm deeply hurt, never imagined he thought of me as your replacement" He sighed dramatically.
" Just deal with it, you can have another of your existential crisis later" You rolled your eyes at your dramatic friend.
"Can you at least call him? he's just acting so weird, he just told me he wants to come home I don't know what to do" He whispered nervously.
"I'm trying to bake a cake hyunjin I can't give him a call right now" You said clearly. " But you are talking to me right now and the cake doesn't seem to be stopping you from doing it" He backfired.
" Ugh you are so annoying, maybe I can't call him because I'm busy and my hands and covered in flour and, Seungmin Lower down the temperature I can smell something burning!!!" You yelled. "I don't know hyunjin, keep him occupied, after all is your job, you better not come any earlier than we accorded. I’m warning you, I got to go" you said ending the call abruptly. Rushing rapidly to the oven where smoke was starting to escape from the sides of it.
" Fuck Y/N I think we burned the cake" Seungmin said panicking.
"Oh you think so" You responded sarcastically. Trying to extinguish the smoke before the alarm went on.
You opened the oven only to see your chocolate cake, all spilled, dark carbon colored batter dripping from the mold.
" Why you said we would bake the cake, if you had never done it before, don't just blame it on me!" He yelled back at you.
"Maybe I just wanted to do something nice for my fucking best friend, Seungmin" You replied infuriated at the boy's words.
You walked away trying to not lose your calm "everything it's okay Y/N just take a deep breath" you whispered to yourself.
Your three friends standing in front of you not wanting to say anything, terrified to even move an inch knowing you could break down at any moment.
" Felix those balloons are not going to blow themselves!" You exclaimed.
" You ate the snacks I left on the table, didn't you, I told you earlier those were for later" You pointed at Jisung who only raised his hands innocently.
You were frustrated to say the least, overwhelmed,
Tired, you wanted to cry, the perfect party for your best friend was a complete utter disaster. You looked at the clock half an hour until Hyunjin brings jeongin back. You stepped out of to house because you began to feel suffocated. You needed some air. In desperation you remembered the person who was always one call away.
You dialed the number hoping he would pick up the phone, he was always busy working on his studio, so you didn't actually expected for him to pick up after the first tone, you were surprised when he did.
"Hey Baby girl"
"Chan" You whined at him.
" What's wrong?" He asked concerned.
" I need your help" You said.
" I'm all ears" He laughed softly. Chan was your supportive friend. He took care of you since he was older, he was always there when you needed him.
You ranted the catastrophe of your failing attempt of birthday party.
" Can you please bring me a cute cake? Jeongin might be on his way and I can't let him have a burned piece of uncooked batter for his birthday" You asked, hoping not to disturb him too much, knowing how busy he was most of the time working on his new tracks.
" Sure thing baby girl, I was heading out either way, I can't come empty handed" He said and you sighed in relief feeling like that heavy weight was lifted from your shoulders.
" You are the best Channie, I'll see you in a bit" You said your goodbyes and ended the call, you were extremely grateful towards him.
You opened the door entering the house. Your friends gathered looking at you with concerned expressions. The three of them instantly running towards you, the minute you crossed the doorstep, wrapping you in a group hug.
" We are sorry Y/N" They said unison.
"We know you've been under so much stress trying to make everything perfect" Seungmin said apologetic.
"And your stupid friends have ruined it all" Felix added teary eyed.
" We'll make it up to you, Let's get to work we have to give Innie the best birthday party ever" Jisung encouraged all of you to stop being so emotional and get on top of your game.
With you basically running out of time. You all began to work at a unquestionably high speed. Felix blowing balloons like crazy. Seungmin cleaning the mess in the kitchen. Jisung restocking the snacks and the drinks. And you dusting off the living the room. Everyone was so focused that no one even listened when the bell rang. Until you stopped the vacuum.
You opened the door, Chan was standing there smiling so bright, showing his dimples, you almost jumped on top of him if it wasn't because the cake he was holding with both of his hands was in the way.
"Channie, I've missed you so much" You said clinging yourself to his back.
" It's been a long time baby girl"
The boys immediately stopped what they were doing to come greet their brother.
" Chan mate you finally came to visit us" Felix said hugging the other Aussie.
" I wish I could come more often but this college life man, it ain't easy plus I've been working on some songs with Changbin" He said looking for Jisung, turning to talk to him directly. " We can't wait for you to graduate, without you we can't be 3racha"
" Just a couple more months, It's going to be awesome man, the trio reunited again" Jisung said with the eyes filled with excitement.
Chan helped you decorate with a couple of party decoration supplies he brought. You looked around one last time. Unable to contain the tears at the sight of how everything came together at the end. Proud of yourself and you also had to credit the hard work your dumb but amazing friends.
An upcoming text brightened the screen of your phone. It was hyunjin announcing that they were 5 minutes away from arriving. That was your cute, You all went to hide in different spots, after turning off all the lights. You headed directly to the kitchen and grabbed the cake, crouching behind the counter.
The house was dead silent until you heard the sound of the key clashing into the lock. The door opening slowly.
“Why is it so dark in here?” Hyunjin said playing along while pretending to looking for the light switch.
“ Wait I thought you said Y/N was not home, why are her shoes here?” Jeongin asked confused, with certain affliction in his voice.
“ Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday dear Innie, Happy birthday to you” You sang as you made your way towards him. The cake lighted up by the incandescent light from the single candle placed in the center.
The rest of your friends joined you while screaming
“SURPRISE”
Jeongin was loss for words, his cheeks stained by the beautiful tears that were sliding carefully. Like an open faucet, unable to control them. He smiled through them. Flashing his indistinguishable pearly white teeth. Alluring dimples. Stars that flashed on those sparkly eye pools as he stared directly at you. Like you were the only thing he was able to see in that dim room.
He closed his eyes and blew the candle wishing for something his heart desired for so long.
Everyone clapped and congratulate the boy who was no longer a baby but now a man. Hyunjin turned on the lights and you all gathered at the table to eat.
As you were walking to the dinning room, someone softly pulled from your sleeve.
Your eyes instantly meeting with his.
lost in his angelic aura.
You had been crushing on the boy for long enough
That you truly wanted to impress him with this whole surprise party idea. It seemed like your planned worked at perfection when he wrapped you in his arms.
“No one had ever done something like this for me, thank you so much Y/N” He whispered into the crook of your neck. The proximity making your limbs froze and your skin tingled due to the warmth he provided.
“ It’s nothing, Im glad you liked it Jeonginnie” You replied with a loving smile.
“ You know I was mad at you all day” He laughed bittersweet.
“Sorry for missing on riding the Ferris wheel with you” You said making fun of him.
“ I actually wanted to ride it with you instead of being stuck there with Mr. Dramatic for 45 minutes” a sigh escaping from his pink soft lips.
“ Is it because he becomes all clingy as it goes up, he’s such a scary cat” Laughing at the memory of hyunjin clinging into your arm like his life depended on it, the last time you all went to the amusement park.
“ That and because I hoped to hold your hand” He said staring into your eyes, trying to tell you something, but you were unable to read through the lines.
“ You do that all of the time Innie” It was not a novelty the amount of skin ship you and your best friend had.
“ You can’t possible be any more dense Y/N” He spoke a little irritated at your ignorance.
Your friend was rather shy, this sudden confidence had you all bewildered.
“ I like you, you idiot” He said obvious, tired of hinting something that was crystal clear.
“ You what...?” You were puzzled, your jaw almost hitting the floor in disbelief.
“ I know we’ve been friends for such a long time but I be always seen you in another light, will you let me be the one who holds your hand forever?” He asked extending his hand to grab yours softly, sliding his palm on top of yours and intertwining fingers.
“ Yes” You whispered hiding your face in his chest “I’ve liked you since the first time I saw you”
He untangled your hands to grab your jaw softly, so you would look at him, Bodies shaking, an adrenaline rush, and fireworks exploding the moment he laid his lips on top of your, delicate and with such sincerity, a kiss that revealed the profound innocent love they had one for the other.
“ Best birthday ever” He said stealing one more peck at your lips. He became addicted to the taste.
“ It was a piece of cake” You winked at him. “ For your information Seungmin burned your original cake, The one I baked with so much love”
“ Oh that’s why it smells like barbecue” He said. Both of you exploding into laughter. “ At least you didn’t burned down the house, I need to keep you as far away from the kitchen as possible sweetheart”

Sorry, Try again later
Steve Harrington x reader
Requested by anon: Could you do the "I work at the checkout and you’re clearly not old enough to buy that" au with Dustin, and when reader tells him he can't buy it (maybe fireworks or a pet from the petstore [I'm pretty sure you have to be eighteen to buy pets]), so he comes back with Steve? And like, maybe they're good friends, and she looks at him like "this is the small child you're in charge of?" -&
Warning: swearing
~~~~~~
You worked at the local convince store. It's not necessarily like you got many people who came in.
It was usually you and one other person in the store. "Y/n You're needed at the check out, y/n to the check out." who more often then not made you do the work.
You huffed placing the last box of Mr.T cereal on the shelf before getting up and making your way across the store to the check out.
"Hi did you find..." You stopped looking at the young teen on the opposite side of the cash register. You smiled through wanting to laugh. "Dustin, You're kidding right?"
"What?" he asked as if he didn't know. You looked at the large stack of fire works on the counter then the shopping cart noticing how many where left in it in able to fit on the counter.
You leaned on what little space of the counter you had. "One, I work at the checkout and you are clearly not old enough to buy that..." he rolled his eye's.
"Two, why the hell do you need that many fireworks and three, I can't believe you totally wrecked my awesome display like that!"
"What do you mean I'm not old enough?"
"Sorry kid, eighteen or older to buy fire works." you said simply starting to push the stack back in to the cart. "Wait wait! I really need them!"
"For?"
"We are throwing a goodbye party for the byers!" you rolled your eyes and continued shoveling them into the cart. "I'm sure that's true but you are still underage and this is an ungodly amount for a farewell party."
"Y/n..." he followed you through the mostly empty store as you pushed the cart full of explosives back to where they originally came from.
"Henderson.." you said in the same tone.
"I thought you where cool." you smiled at him as you began to pull fireworks from the cart and stack them in there orginal place. "I AM, being responsible and safe is very cool."
He frowned and started to walk out of the store. "Sorry pal, Try again later!"
"I'll get those fireworks! just you wait and see!"
"Bye, Dustin!" He groaned as the automatic doors slid open and shut behind him. He then made his way to the family video. Both teens from there spots in the store looked up at him.
"Hey kid,why so glum?" making his way to him from the horror section.
"Fireworks for the byers fairwell party are a no go." steve frowned.
"Why's that?"
"Because he's underage, dingus!" Robin said taking the answer right out of dustins mouth. "Well that blows what are we gonna do now?" Robin came around and stood behind the counter and looked at both boys.
"Well I think that's pretty obvious!" they looked at her confused. She rolled her eyes. "Hello! idiots! Steve is perfectly old enough to buy fireworks plus You have a crush on her so you can talk to her!" she said hitting Steve's arm.
"do not!" said both Steve and Dustin at the same time. "Yea ok, sure, whatever you say." Steve's face flushed.
She rolled her eyes and grabbed another box of vhs tapes and headed to another section of the store. "I'm telling you! Just take steve so you can legally buy the damn things!"
They looked at each other. "You paying for it?" Dustin huffed and pulled out a handfull of money from his pocket and handed it to him.
"Then lets go!"
"Hurry back, dingus!"
You had finished stacking the fireworks and a new shipment of Hi-c ectocoolers before finally sitting at the very back of the store finally taking a moment to take a breath.
You where about to pop a casset into you walk man, until the intercom clicked to life through the mostly empty store. You heard a long huff before your co worker spoke. "Y/n to check out, y/n to check out...that kid is back." you groaned standing up and rushing through the store.
"Dustin I swea-" you stopped not just seeing Dustin with a smaller stack of fireworks this time you also saw steve harrington beside him elbow leaned against the counter.
"Harrington." You said flatly making your way to the back of the check out. "I told you i'd get them one way or another!"
"Actually I'm getting them." steve stated offering you a smile. You laughed.
"This is the small child your in charge of."
Dustin looked up at steve offended. "Small child?"
"Well i..i..when I said that I didn't mean...small Small.." you nodded as you began to ring up the few boxes of fireworks.
He laughed nervously looking at you. Dustin furrowed his brows. "Dude what's the matter with you?"
"Nothing!...I'm fine, I'm cool..."
You chuckled. "Nineteen twenty five please." steve quickly payied and handed the bag to Dustin. "Have a nice day idiots!" Steve smiled at you turning around. "You too!" He tripped over a candy stand by the door. You laughed As Dustin grabbed his family video best and pulled him out the door.
"What was that about!?" they both started walking back to the family video and steve scratched the back of his neck. "I don't know...I DON'T KNOW!"
Dustin stopped and looked at him. "You do like her!"
"Pfft no.."
"Jesus Christ harrington!" Dustin started walking back into the store. "What are you doing?" Dustin continued in waving for him to follow with out another word.
"Hey shithead!" Steve chased after him stopping at the cash register you where still at. "Hi!"
"Forget something?" you asked amused. "No but steve did." you looked over to him as he entered and stood next to him. "You did?"
"I did?" steve asked Dustin whobrolled his eye's once again. "He forgot to ask you if you wanted to go to the byers farewell party tonight with him."
Steve opened his mouth to say something but was cut of by you. "What like a date?"
Dustin nodded. "Yup he'll pick you up at six."
You looked at Dustin and smiled. "I'd love to." you turned to Steve who looked surprised. "You would?"
"Yea!"
"Oh huh ok..yea..Yea cool."
The Breakfast Club
Chapter 10B-Final
The Royal Romance AU
Warning: Profanity
Thank you to everyone who has read, liked, commented and/or reblogged. I have appreciated each one.
Drake sat at a table in the back of the ballroom, he dreaded the next few hours of mind numbing boredom. There were at least two hundred people there to celebrate Liam's birthday and betrothal. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a silver flask, throwing it back, relishing in its escape.
His eyes scanned the room, adorned in gold and glitz, it looked like every other ball at the palace, rather than a birthday.
"Ugh, who let you in here?", he heard, looking up to see Olivia glaring at him.
"The same dumb fucks who let you in", he replied, matching her tone.
She slumped down in the chair next to him and hid her glass, filled with punch, between them, " Don't hold back on me Walker".
He relunctantly pulls out his flask and pours some of the liquid into her glass."So, what're you doing back her with the exile?".
She downed her entire drink, then motioned with her empty glass at Madeleine, "I just want to slap her smug face...she's been hanging all over Liam since she arrived."
Drake sat back in his chair, "Any word on Brooks, yet?".
"Not that I've heard, Liam's been quiet all day, and, of course, I have been busy preparing for my return to Lythikos".
He looked at her intriqued, "I thought you weren't leaving until September?"
She huffed, "My plans have changed," she said as she moved her gaze to Liam, "...there's no reason for me to stay any longer...besides, I really do want to get a start on helping my people and showing them what a true Nevrakis looks like".
He clapped her shoulder, "I'm scared for your people then because you can be a major pain in the ass".
She shrugged and nodded in agreement. "So, what's your plan? Continue brooding around the palace, hit up a few more liquor stores, maybe waste away in your filth of a bedroom?".
Drake took another swig of whiskey and offered it to her, "Naw, me and Savannah are leaving for Texas tomorrow".
She looked surprised, "I thought....".
He rubbed a hand over his forehead, "yeah, I know...mom has been calling lately and usually I don't talk to her, but, I did last night...she's doing real good and wants us to come stay for a while...it'll be nice to get away from here and spend some time with the family".
She smiled at him, then stood from her chair. "You know, you're still an asshole, Walker".
He raised his flask to her in tribute with a half grin, "Touche".
She winked at him, then made her way back to a table at the front of the room.
The ball carried on as guests danced and mingled. Laughter and the sounds of chatter filling the room. Servants brought out the finest displays of culinary art they could create. The court, as always, pretentous, wearing fake smiles and glistening jewels.
Constantine stood on the dais with Regina beside him. He raised a champaign flute, and called for the attention of the room.
As the noise tapered off, he proposed a toast to Liam, the future King of Condonia.
Liam raised his glass, giving an appreciative nod to his father, then the attendees, before taking a sip.
Constantine cleared his throat, "Now, if my son would join me here, we will announce his choice for our future queen".
Liam placed his glass on the table and walked stoically to the position next to his father, turning to face the crowd. Liam's heart was pounding, his anxiety was trying to get the best of him, but, he was holding it together....he had to.
Constantine placed a diamond encrusted engagement ring in Liam's palm, then motioned for Madeleine to join them, "Countess Madeleine of Fydelia".
As Madeleine stood, half of the room applauded approvingly, the other half stunned into silence. The younger nobility had disapproved of her prior betrothal to Leo; her family was knowingly corrupt and lining the pockets of evil factions in and around Cordonia. The older nobilty turned a blind eye to these practices, it helps when you are blackmailed by the crown or given special favors.
Madeleine gracefully made her way to the royal family, curtsing before them, then holding her hand out to Liam.
Liam took her hand and kissed it, standing upright again with her hand tightly gripped in his.
The room was silent and all eyes were at attention. Liam held the ring, breathing heavy, his senses heightened. He had placed the ring just at the tip of her finger, then peaked, expectantly, to the back of the room... everything stood still.
He met Madeleine's starry gaze, with a wild glance, his blue eyes beaming. He looked down at the sparkling ring, barely on her finger, slowly pulling it back off. Madeleine gave a bewildered look, shaking her ring finger, waiting for him to place it back on.
He turned to face Constantine, who was slowly losing his stoic facade; confusion written all over it. Liam motioned with his head to the back of the room, where Constantine followed his lead.
Constantine watched in horror as his oldest son saluted him from a doorway, with his middle finger and a wide, arrogant grin. The King took a small step forward, sneering in perpetual indignation. The audience began whispering to one another in wonderment; they could sense the rising tension.
Liam faced Constantine, reveling in his father's fury. With the ring pinched between his fingers, he held it up to Constantine's face before throwing it randomly into the audience.
Madeleine gasped, covering her mouth, she was completely stunned by what was taking place. She grabbed Liam, forcing him to face her, "What are you doing?".
He pursed his lips, and faced Leo again, stating simply, "I'm leaving". He took a step forward and Constantine, embarrassed, whipped in front of him, speaking in a hushed tone, "This ends now...you and your damn brother have had your fun, now stop this immature behavior and do what we're here to do!"
Liam shook his head in acknowledgement, "You're right father, this ends now", he said as he stepped around him.
Chaotic chatter was starting to escalate. Constantine pulled him back by his arm and held him in place, his voice now raised, "Stop this!....You're ruining everything Liam!"
Leo casually walked towards the two and braced himself in front of Liam. He pulled out a smart disk, cocked his head and held it up to his father, "do you know what this is dear father?".
Constantine replied with a sneer, "what?".
Leo placed the disk in his fathers hands, "You taught me everything I know about ruling Cordonia, I've worked with you for years....I know all your secrets, your dirty deals, the people you've conspired with and how you worked with a terrorist group to take out the late King of Monocco...all of it right here on this little disk....I guess you could say I've been saving it for a rainy day..so...welcome to your rainy day father", he said with glee.
Constantine was speechless, he looked out at a sea of angry council members and dignitaries, scattered throughout the ballroom.
Liam peered out from behind Leo with a proud chuckle, "...and I've taken the liberty of ensuring every news outlet in Cordonia has a copy of it". He then placed two fingers over his mouth, feigning shock "...oops..was I not supposed to do that?"
Leo laughed out hysterically and placed his arm around Liam's shoulder, "Good one little brother".
Constantine took a hard swallow, he wanted to kill both of them, right then and there. If he weren't in public, he would have done so. He put in a fake smile and gritted his teeth. "You're finished Liam....you and your brother, both, will never wear the crown...are you satisfied".
Liam pretended to ponder his threat then spoke sarcastically at him, "So, I suppose the bloodline dies with you....would you like me to congratulate Olivia now, as a Nevrakis will be the next monarch on the throne".
Realization of his words suddenly hitting Constantine, he pinched the bridge of his nose, shaking his head, nearly in tears. His knees were going weak and his entire body was working against him. He couldn't strip Liam of his title or he risked his perceived enemy becoming his heir. With his secrets being aired, scandal and council hearings would soon follow. He felt like his entire world crashed down, face flushed, eyes widened.
Leo grasped Liam's shoulder, "You ready to go?"
Liam started to feel free for the first time in his life, it was exilerating. He looked, seriously, at his father one last time, "You can't hurt me anymore."
He stepped away, walking shoulder to shoulder with his brother, out of the ballroom.
Drake, still sitting in the back with his feet propped on the table, took another drink of whiskey and said to himself, "I thought this party would be boring....man was I wrong."
*****
Liam grabbed a bag he had packed earlier, that he left in a closet near the door. He got into Leo's rental car and they drove to the airport tarmac.
Liam stepped out of the car and grabbed his bags. Standing at the bottom of the stairs of the airplane was Maxwell and Riley. He immediately ran over to her, dropping his bags and lifting her up in his arms, "There's my girl".
Maxwell had called Liam late, last night after finally finding her home. Her step father had been arrested the night before for domestic violence against her mother; he wasn't home when Riley returned.
Leo, Liam, Riley and Maxwell boarded the plane and took their seats.
Liam held her hand and gave her a soft kiss, "You ready for New York?", he asked.
She smiled brightly, "As ready as I'll ever be."
They landed several hours later, staying with Leo and his wife for a few days. Riley would move in with her friend Daniel, while she and Liam got to know each other more, though, they rarely spent time apart.
Maxwell wanted to go with her to New York, they had come so far, he had to make sure she would be okay....she had become his best friend.
As Maxwell waited for his flight to be called back to Cordonia, Riley sat next to him.
"Maxwell, you know for all of that talk about failing the Beaumont name, you sure know how to make things better."
He looked at her inquisitively, "How so?".
She crossed her arms on her lap, "Well...it was you who made Olivia see things differently, and it was you who gave me a place to stay when I didn't have one, you introduced me to all these new friends and you're the one who rescued me from a bad home....you're very special Maxwell...never forget that."
Maxwell smiled at her thoughtfully, "Thank you Riley."
They hugged one another as Maxwell made his way back to Cordonia.
Due to excrutiating stress, brought about by several council hearings and foreign inquisitions, Constantine's health declined. Six months after Liam left, he had a stroke and was left bedridden, unable to speak. Regina acted as head of the state, as well as, several key figures of Cordonia politics....including Duchess Olivia Nevrakis of Lythikos.
Leo worked with Liam, prepping him for his eventual elevation to King. He would fly to Cordonia on occasion, to learn from Regina and check in with the court. He, however, never visited Constantine again.
Riley attended university and received her degree in counciling; she wanted to work with children who had come from traumatic backgrounds.
7 years later-Coronation Ball
Constantine's death had been inevitable, however, most people hadn't expected him to suffer so long when he was alive, without speech and very little movement.
Liam and Riley stood at the entrance of the ballroom, having been married for just over a year, the young couple had just attended their coronations earlier that day.
The herald made the announcement, "Thier Majesties, King Liam and Queen Riley of Cordonia".
They made their rounds, shaking hands with people excited to usher in a new, more positive face to the monarchy.
They sat down at their table preparing for the meal. At the table with them, Drake, Olivia and Maxwell. They had stayed in close contact over the years.
Olivia took a sip of her champaign, "So, are you ever going to pop that baby out...it shouldn't take them so damn long."
Riley clutched her growing tummy, "Olivia, I still have three months to go."
Liam laughed, "Yeah, our little Ellie needs a little more time."
Maxwell chimes in, "And as soon as my new app takes off, Uncle Maxwell will be reporting for babysitting duty."
Drake sighs, "Im afraid to ask....what app?"
Maxwell gets giddy with excitement, "Its a story about all of us, and you can make choices about what you want to happen in the story. Each one of you are a character."
Drake shakes his head, "Leave me out of it...no one wants to see me as character in some damn app."
Maxwell leans up, "Not true...My focus group says you're one of the more popular love interests, of course, they keep forgetting about me."
Drake sits a little taller in his seat, trying to hide his growing smile and ego.
After the ball has ended, they all say their farewells. Maxwell walks out the front of the palace, places his sunglasses on, raising a fist into the air as he crosses the palace lawn to his car.
Babydoll -M-
Synopsis - 2 weeks since the abandoned house incident, Taeil has been acting stranger than normal and Y/N has been avoiding him for some reason. During a night out, Taeil is pissed and wants answers.
Warnings - 18+ content, Sexual Content, Demon!Taeil Series, a little bit of bloodplay, Exhibitionism, Corruption kink, Chain kink, Minor character death, third party masturbation, not as kinky as last chapter, but still smutty, go ahead and report me for writing a Demon!Au. It's tagged and there's a warning list right here. This is a work of fictional smut between two consenting adults with a Demon theme.
The male had Y/N pressed against the wall, his bloodied hand ahead her neck as he plays with the hem of her skirt. Placing kisses along her neck, Taeil listens to Y/N's melodic moans.
"I can't stop thinking about that day, that day I claimed you as mine. Every day, I've came here and tried drinking my feelings away," Taeil backed off of Y/N, walking towards the bed, laying down, "but I always go back to you. All the times I'd see Jaehyun or Taeyong staring at you, like you're a piece of meat."
Y/N tiptoed to Taeil, straddling him as she gently kissed him, "so, are we going to talk about what you just did to that guy?"
"It'll take a while," Taeil wrapped his arms around Y/N's waist, dragging her down into a rough kiss, "but first, I have a big problem to solve."
Taeil had dragged everyone to a club, 'it's one a friend of mine told me about,' he told Johnny, which wasn't a total lie. It just happened to be his friend that latched onto him when a few of them decided to play with an Ouija board.
The club had the normal section full of drunk dancers, bar fights and the one couple fucking in a stall. If one was to go down the stairs and through a lone door at the end of the hallway, they'll find a down-and-dirty free-for-all. There were whips and chains on the wall, several rooms, some with beds in them, sex toys abundant.
'The Lower,' as it was affectionately named, hidden from what demons called "normies." If a normy was to go through the door, they would just see an empty room, but if escorted by a demon, they would see the deliciously dangerous world.
"Can you tell me why you've been avoiding me since we went to the creepy house?"
Taeil was pissed. Y/N had been avoiding him after the "incident" at the abandoned house. Was she ashamed? Embarrassed? Hurt? Taeil had been trying to get answers fron the girl, but she runs away everytime their eyes meet.
"I haven't been avoiding you, I've just been busy," Y/N keeps her head down, avoiding eye contact with Taeil, clenching his fist while blood drips down.
"Not avoiding me? Everytime I try to talk to you, you disappear. If I text you, I'm left on read. If you hear me over the phone, you hang up, and don't lie because Taeyong always has you on speaker, so we all can hear your voice."
Y/N got up, attempting to avoid the awakward situation as Taeil slapped his drink off the bar out of frustration, starting to run after Y/N.
"What the hell was that about?" Jaehyun stopped Taeil, attempting to dodge the younger male, watching Y/N go out of sight with Taeyong, "Dude, what the fuck!"
"Move, Jaehyun! I need to know why is she avoiding me!"
"She's avoiding you because she doesn't want to ruin your friendship! She thinks it may have not been the right thing sleeping with you! She loves you, but she'd rather have you as a friend than lose you as a lover!" Jaehyun blew up on Taeil, the older male frozen in place as Jaehyun went to check on Y/N, "maybe you need to calm the fuck down before talking to her."
After standing in silence for a few minutes, Taeil walked outside to see Jaehyun with arms around Y/N and Taeyong rubbing her back. He punched a window, scaring everyone outside as he ran back inside, Y/N following after him.
"Taeil, stop! Your hand is bleeding!" Y/N reached from the boy, barely catching up to him as he started walking down a set of backstairs.
"Oh, now you want to care?! You avoided me because you thought I was a mistake?!" Taeil yelled, "I just now got the courage to talk to you, to tell you how I feel, to fuck you, and you turn your back? Why?"
Y/N was speechless, just following Taeil as he blew through a door, some older demons looking at the new couple, the scent of human filling their noses.
"Looky looky what the newbie bough-" before the demon could finish his sentence, Taeil waved his hand, twisting the demon's neck, his head now looking down at his back as he fell to the ground.
"What was that?! "
"We'll talk about that lat-"
"But Il-ie please," Y/N stepped into the room with a lone bed on it, "ever sinc-"
"I love you, okay?! I have for a while now. I just recently got the balls to say something and I want your answer right now," Taeil's eyes, despite being a dark red, still held a sense of humanity in them, "do you want me or not?"
Y/N placed her hand on his cheek, Taeil cupping it as he watched Y/N contemplate.
"Yes."
Taeil pulled down his pants, pulling out his cock, teasing Y/N as he rubbed his shaft up and down her lace panties, "I have a present for you, darling."
"You hid a present? Were you that confident in you were going to get laid tonight?" Y/N sat up, a moan coming out as her covered slit rested on Taeil's hardened members.
Letting out a fake laugh, Taeil reached over to the dresser, pulling out a little box, a red bow on the top. He presented it to Y/N, a horny smirk amongst his face as she opened it, revealing a choker with a chain hanging from it.
"A leash?"
"No," Taeil unclasped the choker, putting it comfortably on Y/N's neck, gently pulling the chain "a choker, it has a protection spell on it. As long as you wear it, those fucks out there won't mess with you."
Y/N raised an eyebrow, "you need to explain all of this as soon as possible."
Taeil thrusted his hips, a giggly yelp escaping Y/N, "I will explain everything, I promise, babydoll."
Taeil tapped Y/N's legs, the girl falling to the bed as Taeil stood up from the bed, kicking his pants off as Y/N pulled up her skirt, fully revealing her white lace panties.
"Such delicate fabric for a delicate girl," Taeil chuckled, peeling the underwear off of Y/N, "I can't wair until you're all mine. Marked up, the innocent look in your eyes will have a glint of deviance behind them, that only I will know about."
Taeil pulled the chain of Y/N's choker, the girl being brought closer to him. He pulled her shirt up, revealing the matching white lace bra, "you're keeping that on. I'd love to see that covered in my cum."
Y/N started rubbing her legs together, Taeil noticing as he kneeled down, kissing her thighs.
"Il-le, please," Y/N started to slowly roll her hips, attempting to get Taeil to kiss her center.
Taeil waved his hand over Y/N, a chain tying her hands together behind her back as he licked a strip up her slit, "patience, babydoll."
Moaning at the new nickname, Y/N continued watching as Taeil started eating her out, biting her thighs inbetween licks of her clits. She tried to reaching for his hair, forgetting about her new accessories around her wrists. The taste of Y/N on his lips was driving Taeil crazy, he could cum untouched right then and there. He stood up as he sensed Y/N getting close to her high.
"Lay back, babydoll," Taeil licked his fingers, inserting them into Y/N as she arched her back at the sensation, a knock on the door interrupting them, "I wonder who that could be."
Taeil took his fingers out of Y/N, opening the door to reveal Taeyong and Jaehyun, wide-eyed, Y/N not even bothering to cover up, "would you mind?"
"Not at all."
Y/N opened her legs a bit more, as if to entice Taeil to forget about anything else except her. Jaehyun and Taeyong sat on a couch in the corner of the room, Taeil shutting and locking the door.
"How long have you two been fucking?" Jaehyun asked as he rubbed his thigh in anticipation.
"Since we went to that house," Taeil pumped his cock in his hand a few times, shallowly thrusting into Y/N, tormenting the girl with a little taste, "one thing led to other and whoops."
Taeyong just watched in silence when Taeil helped Y/N onto her knees, one hand on her hips and one hand on the chains as he pushed into her, bottoming out, Y/N's moans echoing in the room. Jaehyun palmed his growing bulge, feeling turned on watching Taeil pound into Y/N, her breasts bouncing in her bra. Taeil pushed Y/N down, her throwing her ass back as he took off his shirt, throwing on the head of the bed. His thrusts were calculated, precise and driving Y/N closer to her edge. Jaehyun reached into his pants, the scene in front of him memorizing and Taeyong watched into amazement.
Taeil pulled Y/N up, the chain on her choker getting pulled and her head resting on Taeil's shoulder, his thrusts getting tiring as he took one hand and begun rubbing her clit. Both paces of his cock and hand speeding up, Y/N's moam encouraging him. Jaehyun kept pumping himself in his pants, attempting to be discreet as possible. Taeyong made no effort to relieve the thump in his pants, making a mental note to lock the door to the shower and play loud music to cover his moans later tonight.
Y/N begun to shiver as Taeil continued rubbing her clit, the wetness between her legs leaking down her legs, a blanket of tired falling over her. Taeil touched the chains, the metal evaporating into thin air as Y/N fell down on the bed, her hands barely holding her up.
Seeing his love so exhausted, Taeil pulled out and gently rolled her onto her back. Taeil pumped himself, strings of white liquid falling over Y/N's bra as he promised earlier. Jaehyun himself had finished as well, taking his hand out of his pants, a small gleam of white on his hand as Taeyong shook out of his self-imposed trance, breaking the silence.
"Jesus, Taeil. Never knew you had that in you."
After the sexually tense air cleared with the middle male's comment, Jaehyun and Taeyong stood up.
"If you don't mind, I'll say this politely, get out," Taeil kicked them out, cleaning Y/N up with his shirt as she looked at the male, the red light of the room on his face and the shadow behind him with horns.
"Are you going to explain to me what happened now?"
Taeil laid down next to Y/N after throwing his now-messy shirt to the side, bringing her close.
"Where do you want me to begin?"
Esther arrived earlier and the first thing she did was to sit Kol down to talk to him. As per usual it didn't go all too well.
"Racing is one thing I am good at"- Kol said to his mother-"I am not giving it up."
"Do you know how I feel every time you get into that boat to race. My heart clumps up, and I just cannot breathe from fear that something might happen to you."- Esther said.
"Nothing will happen to me. Anyway, this may be the last season I race anyway. I want to get the grand prix once more. I am right up there among the greatest, mother, you know. Three times in a row. Noone achieved that."
Esther huffed a bit, not happy about it all, but now said-
"Right. You promise you will quit after this season is over? I want a solemn promise! And you will not go back on it?"- Esther asked.
Promising something he wasn't quite sure he would be able to keep, especially if he said the words now he would have to uphold- it was not easy for Kol. And so, well, he could not bring himself to do it.
As he wavered, Esther now disappointingly just waved at her son-
"Go, please."
"Mother, I just-"- Kol started, but she cut him off.
"I don't want to hear anything more, Kol."- Esther said-"please now leave. I am at the end of my thethers with you!"
Kol hated leaving things so tense and continued-
"I know that this is all because of what had happened to Father and Klaus, but- I cannot live under a sheltered glass dome, you so want to put me in, same as Elijah. This is not me. Sorry, but I just can't"
Kol's phone rang and he let it ring, standing like the lost sheep, feeling bad, as Esther was now teary remembering Klaus and Mikael.
"Will you answer this phone-"- she now said agitated.
Kol looked at the display-uttering-
"It's Y/N"
"Answer her"- Esther urged her son.
Kol now answered, leaving the study.
Esther sat down in the armchair wiping her tears off glancing at the family photo on the desk.
"I miss you so much" - she uttered.
There was a knock on the door and Elijah entered saying-
"I am sorry to interrupt, but Larson asks when it would be best to serve dinner? Also, I have just met John's niece Elena in front of the house-"
"Ah, yes-"- Esther now looked at Elijah-"I completely forgot to tell you that she was coming-"
Kol, who finished his conversation with his girlfriend now came back in and said-
"Elena? Little Elena?"- Kol asked-"the hermit?"
Elijah now recalled that they spoke about John Gilbert's niece not long ago. Now he turned to his brother and asked him why he called a hermit.
"Ah, she would always hide. Lurking. Never could talk to her. Well, she could not even get a word out. So, she is back? She came to visit her uncle?"- Kol said.
"Yes."- Esther replied adding-"And I want her to feel like she is at home."
Both Kol and Elijah were uttering Of course, that goes without saying.
"Fine"- Esther said and the woman was ready to get out now and find the butler, when they heard a knock at the door. As Esther said enter, Elena walked in.
She didn't look anything like the teenager Kol remembered. He now looked at her wide-eyed. There in front of them, stood a sheer beauty, greeting everyone present politely, especially Esther.
"Elena!"- Esther now went to the woman welcoming her warmly. Elijah nodded at her not taking his eyes off of her as well. Elena also nodded back at him. Then Kol took over expressing all what Elijah's heart thrummed at that moment, not understanding what was happening to him. It's not like he had never seen a beautiful woman before, or been with one.
"Is this really you? Wow- you've changed! Hey- great to see you! Where have you been hiding all this time? Ah, yeah, London, was it?"
"Yes. I lived in England"- Elena replied.
The butler now knocked wanted to know if dinner could be served.
And now Esther ushered everyone to the dining room. And Kol continuing to chat about London with Elena as they went out of the study. Elijah and Esther followed, letting those two go, stopping his mother for a moment asking about the lunch with the Y/L/N.
"They are ready to invest"- Esther said-"but they want 40%"
"That is steep. The board would not be happy."- Elijah said.
"If they become family, things could be negotiated."
"What do you mean, family?"- Elijah asked.
"Well, Y/N and Kol have been together since their freshmen year- so they hope this will end up in marriage. At least Marie sees it that way"
"Kol- getting married?"- Elijah said like he had never had anything more ludicrous in his life-"they might have been together- and I can't believe they really are still together- because- of all, well - his escapades with other women."
"Well, she has done her share of escapades, too. It's that kind of a generation. They don't take anything seriously. Especially not love. Like Kol said they were not really exclusive."- Esther said. "
"Exactly"- Elijah remarked-"so how do you see them getting married?"
"There is a possibility- well, nothing is confirmed yet. Y/N still needs to go to the obstetrician- but she might be pregnant. And I don't want to get ahead of ourselves here, but, when she returns to New Orleans in a few days, we will know."- Esther said- "now let's eat. We can't keep Larson waiting any longer."
Very shortly, the dinner was served and the star of the evening was Elena, of course, who was now telling them about her life in London, all she did and a little bit about her eccentric benefactor Dahlia.
Even though sisters, Dahlia would not call Esther for years on end. She had not heard from her the last two years.
"She moved her atelier to the Shetland islands."- Elena informed the woman-"I plan to visit her in the spring."
Elena then continued to talk about what she was doing lately.
All evening Elijah listened to Elena speak. Quiet as he was, he was not bombarding her with questions like Kol, but nevertheless, soaked in every word she had said.
Elena was like the fresh breeze for all of them. Extraordinarily, this was the first night in a long while that Esther was sitting down for dinner with both of her sons. Kol would usually be somewhere with his friends, Elijah would either work or stay at the town house. She felt like the universe bowed down and sent her Elena, like a special gift.
At the end of the dinner, Esther extended a special invitation to Elena to attend her birthday party the next day.
"Thank you so much"- Elena said.
She bid everyone a good night and left the room. And before she went she just once glanced back at them, her eyes streaming at Elijah at the end.
That what was incrompenhensible to her. Why was she saw compelled by him. With these thoughts she trailed off to the little house not far from the Grand House where her uncle lived.
When she was a teenager, all her dreams involved around Kol - the way she would kiss him, go off to the wildest parties with him, come home in the early hours in the morning. And all these years abroad, she wondered what he was like, if he had changed at all. It proved that he hadn't much. It felt that all was even more enhanced. As always his life was exciting. But when he was talking she blocked some of it off, and found swaying her look to Elijah. She was not into men in suits, workaholics, as her uncle described the eldest Mikaelson.
So, why was he on her mind? He barely spoke two words to her, except for a few polite questions about what drew her to study industrial design. She shook her head as she now put her hair down and combed it, before getting into the shower.
In his bedroom, in the Grand house, Elijah had a view on the guest house she was staying at. After a shower, he went to the window glancing out. What was he doing there, looking out- He shook his head, and returned to his agenda for tomorrow. Even though they were hosting a huge party tomorrow night, he still needed to go to the office.
The next morning, Elena, as an early riser, had already done her yoga and had her breakfast. Her uncle was amazed how disciplined she was.
"I have been invited to the Birthday Gala tonight and I don't really have anything appropriate to wear, so I thought I would head into town. Can I get a lift?"- Elena asked.
"I would offer you my car, but it broke down. And I barely had time to look what it is. I am now Mrs Mikaelson's personal driver and she will not be going anywhere today, but I still have to stay. I'm sorry"- John explained.
"Hey, it's not a big deal. I should have rented a car. I think Kol has said that he would be going into town. I will ask him if he could take me. I don't think he would mind. I'll see you later."- Elena said taking her bag.
Before John could say anything, Elena was already out of the door walking over to the main house. As she was about to enter, Elijah appeared at the door, nearly bumping into her.
"Morning"- he said somewhat startled.
Elena slipped a good morning as well, backing up a bit, suddenly feeling a strange nervousness flushing all over her.
"Can I help you?"- he asked.
"Ahm- no. I was-"- she hated that she seemed to have lost the power of speech as if she was a teenager again, all shy and not finding the right words to express herself. She felt his eyes were piercing right through her, making her even more clumsily restless.
"Yes?"- Elijah slipped.
Elena now got herself together and said that she was hoping Kol or someone was going into town and she wondered if she could get a lift.
"I believe Kol is still in bed. This is too early for him. If you don't mind I am happy to take you as I am on my way to the office."- Elijah said moving with his hand towards his car.
Elena let a little silent sigh excepting the offer and he opened the door of his black Lincoln MKZ. She slipped in, and he closed the door. As he got in, he asked if there was a special place she wanted to be dropped off, and she muttered that she needed to get a dress for the Gala.
He knew exactly where to take her. It was something she didn't expect. But then again, he was a man that had impecable taste in clothes himself, as well as cars. She was intrigued by him. The half an hour drive to New Orleans was spent mostly in silence, till Elena broke the ice by asking about the Mexico Plantation, and she didn't even know why she had asked about it.
"It's a marvellous place. I have enjoyed living and working there."- Elijah said-"it is a completely different world out there. My great twice removed grandmother was spanish and mytwice removed great grandfather married into the family. A Mikaelson and a Fuentes. You know that the spanish once ruled Louisiana from 1762 to 1802. This is when the Plantation in Mexico came to our family's possession."
"I didn't know that"- Elena said-"you grow oranges there? That's how much I remember."
"Yes."- Elijah replied.
They had arrived and just before Elena got out, Elijah said-
"I will be returning to the Grand House at about 4 p.m. If you wish, and if you will be staying in town that long, you can come by the offices, and I can give you the lift back."
"Ah, thank you. I was kind of thinking of going to the race practice at 4. You will not go?"
"No."- Elijah said abruptly. He wished her a good day and left. She didn't know what to think by his clear cut negative response to the boat practice. Her mind trailed off to something else now. It was her day out to enjoy the French Quarter and completely indulge in all NOLA had to offer.
After acquiring the dress she wanted, she went to the bookstore and got herself a book on Mexico. She read all about Tamaulipas, the state where the family's mexican plantation was at.
Walking around the French Quarter, and taking photos, being a keen photographer, Elena arrived late to Kol's practice. But he was glad to see her. He introduced her to some of his friends, with whom she had a drink as well. It all turned soon into a small party like it has always been the case with Kol. She wouldn't have minded staying on with all of them, but since she was invited to the Gala, and Esther being so wonderful and kind, she didn't want to disrespect her host, and above all make her uncle look bad. As Kol was not ready to leave just yet and it was pushing seven, Elena got herself a taxi.
Everything on the Planantation was ready for the grand party to start in an hour. Elena rushed to get ready.
_
In the Grand House, Esther was worried about Kol not showing up. Elijah tried to get hold of Kol, who finally answered his phone and reassured his brother that he would be there in a little while. In he was there in the nick of time.
Elijah got to his room and now gave him the piece of his mind about his reckless behaviour-
"You need to grow up! Enough is enough! This is a very important day for mother and she's got only us."
"I am here, aren't I?"- Kol said getting into his tux as he got out of the shower. To change the subject he now said-"Did you see Elena?! Wow- she is a real knockout. Where were my eyes before-"
Elijah hated the way he spoke about women in that way and gave him a stern look saying-
"Do not speak about Elena in that manner- or any other woman!"
Kol now stood still for a second as he put his jacket on. He looked at Elijah saying-
"What is this? Did I just hear agitation in your voice?"
"Shut up. We have to get down. The first guest are arriving"- Elijah said-"adjust your bow tie. It's crooked."
Kol followed his brother. They were late and they had to be there with her as the whole birthday speech started, so they rushed down.
Kol's phone went and since it was Y/N, he went off answering the call. Elijah now proceeded into the garden where Esther was already in full swing mingling with all the guests. He stood still for a second admiring the view of the woman, who brought such great stir in him, something he had never thought was possible.
She was like the summers breeze that comes out of nowhere and makes all difference in a particular moment in time. He could stand there and look at her forever.
Elena turned around now seeing him slightly lost in his gaze. She smiled a little at him as came over to her.
"I hope you had a nice day?"- Elijah then said to her-
"I did"- Elena said not taking her eyes off of him.
"Good."- Elijah uttered.
Both of them stood there without saying anything further. Eyes exchanging small delightful nothings filled with gladness about being in each other's company. Maybe they would have stay like this till the end of the party, and it would have been ok, but the butler came to Elijah telling him that his mother wanted him and Elijah slipped clumsily- "duty calls."
Elena nodded a little and dreamily watched him go.
Kol now appeared from behind saying-
"Ah, good. Elijah will do the speech. I so hate these things. Hey, where did you escape?"
"I got a taxi."- Elena replied.
"You should have stayed with us. Tom did these crazy impressions of the ballroom dancing judges."
"Right"- Elena just said and taking a glass of champagne that was now passed to everyone moved forward as the butler singnalled both her and Kol to join Esther as she had asked for them.
Elijah's speech was short but heartwarming, and Kol added only a big happy birthday to his mother wishing her many happy returns.
Esther thanked both of them and then all who came to the party. At the end she gave a special thanks to Elena, introducing her to everyone as her guest of honour.
Elena looked at the woman a bit lost, not understanding where this was coming from.
"Last night was one of the most amazing nights I have had in a very long time"- Esther said to Elena-"I cannot remember when the three of us sat down together as a family. Well, ever since Klaus and Mikael-anyway, it would so wonderful if one day I might call you my daughter."
Elena thanked the woman for her kind words. Esther could see that Elena was somewhat flustered with all and now called for the music to start. She went off to some guests who had arrived late, leaving Elena with Elijah.
"I think her emotions are running high. It has been so for days"- Elijah said feeling he had to explain his mother's behaviour towards Elena.
"Don't you spend time together? I mean- at least for Christmas?"- Elena asked.
"Christmas is the worst, as it reminds her of them. The boating accident was two days after Christmas."- Elijah explained.
"Oh- I just- can't remember. No one really talked about Klaus and your dad."- Elena felt bad thinking she really put the foot in it.
To get off sad subjects, Elijah now put his hand out to her saying-
"Would you care to dance?"
Elena nodded and took his hand. hey walked to the dance floor. And like the song said-both of them felt like they were suspended in the air as they swayed to the tune. Both now not still quite sure what it was that made me feel so extraordinarily different.
Could he really be starting to feel something for this woman, so out of the blue? And she? Where was all this tingling inside of her come from as he put his hand on her back gently? He was not her type at all. She had always been with guys like Kol, reckless, daring. She couldn't remember falling for a guy like Elijah. What was happening to her?
Fairy Summers is a short story request by @vhum for my 300 follower celebration.
It is a World of Make Believe AU featuring Chelsea x Puck told over a series of summers as they age together and manouver through lifes struggles, fantastical and mortal.
I will be uploading in parts just for easier reading. Also, playlist.
CW: Contains coming-of-age themes, familial abuse suggestion.
~*~*~*~
She didn't really understand what the old lady in black was saying. Chelsea did like being able to wear her blue sparkly dress though, and her shoes echoed on the wood floors. ʻAnakē Susie placed a hard hand on her shoulder, stilling her squirming body.
"Seeing as no other relatives are here to claim the child, we've already run over an hour on this case, and sadly Mr. and Mrs. Kalua's living will was not legally notarized… " The old lady leaned forward, "Chelsea, dear?"
The young girls hands gripped the chair, ʻAnakē Susie's hand still on her shoulder, her thumb digging in against her shoulder. "Yes?"
"Do you like your mother's cousin?" She motioned, her sleeve billowed. "Would you like to stay with them?"
"Oh I love sleepovers!" Chelsea beamed. "We always sleepover when we visit Hawaii." She kicked her legs, bouncing against the chair. "For weeks!"
"Yes." The judge grinned, her face softening kindly. "Would you like to live with your mother's cousins? Now that your parents aren't with us."
Chelsea frowned at that, "I guess." She answered slow, chipped nail finding a divot in the wood, "but I'll have to go home with them when they come back."
"I'm afraid she still doesn't completely understand, Your Honor." Susan's arm snaked around her soon-to-be ward, the picture of concern. "It's such a terrible concept-"
"And she is so young." The judge nodded. "Very well. Let's wrap this up, shall we? The court rules in favor of the plaintiff Susan Kalua suing for legal guardianship of Chelsea Kalua. As her foster mother you will receive monthly sums to offset the cost of support. From here on out you, Mrs. Kalua, and your husband," Hard grey eyes moved to the bodies on the first bench just behind Susan, "will be expected to treat Chelsea as a member of your family. A daughter of your own."
"Of course!" Susan nodded, eyes glistening, matte pink lips pressed together and wobbling.
Chelsea wriggled against the fingers digging into her arms. In the muggy heat of Hawaiian summer the blue dress had become suffocating.
~*~*~
Chelsea pulled her knees to her chin, watching Anakala Joe pull the pig from the kalua. The smell of roasted pineapple and coconut and spices hit her square in the stomach.
"Anakē," she shifted on the tree root, "Anakē Susie I'm so hungry."
"Excuse me, Sis." Susie turned from the table, "I gotta lolo keiki."
The auntie chuckled as she continued chopping. Chelsea's brows furrowed as she watched Susan wipe her hands on a rag that she shoved back into her apron.
Chelsea unraveled slowly, I'm not crazy.
Susan's hand was still sticky when she grabbed Chelsea's arm. Her dark hair was pulled back into a tight ponytail but the summer had the loose strands sticking to her neck. Chelsea didn't like that she smelled of mangos and onions. The combination made her feel sick as her bare feet stumbled hard over uneven ground, struggling to keep up with too long strides.
"Anakē-" Chelsea's protest cutoff when Susan threw her arm like it was scalding her.
"I am your mother now, keiki." She crouched down, voice hard and scratching. Her eyes were cold. "Tsk, aisus."
Chelsea shuddered at the warmth flooding into her skin through fingertips that now stroked instead of clenched. "I-I want Mama."
"I know, Chells." Susan's eyes closed, her voice was heavy. "I want her, too. But, darling, she's gone. She's never coming back. I'm your Mama now. I'm your mom. Call me mom." Lids snapped open as fingers tightened, shaking the child quick, tight, violent. "Call me mom."
The demand was hot and tight in Chelsea's chest. "I-I want Daddy. I want Dad…" The breeze rustling the trees nearly swallowed her words.
"Call me Mom."
It hurt, the demand. Weaving up into Chelsea's head mingling with the smell making her eyes water.
"Okay, Mom."
Susan's grip loosened, soothing over the sore fingerprint sized aches. "That wasn't so hard now, was it?" Those eyes dipped below unruly hair to peer into tearing eyes. "Don't cry."
"Okay, Mom." Chelsea knew obedience would make her new mom happy; she swallowed the confusion and pain.
"Ah my good girl." Mom stood, patting Chelsea's head. "I need to finish cooking. Dinner smells amazing. Be back in half an hour we won't wait for you. Tardy girls don't get Haupia Pie and Uncle's made the best this year."
"Yes, Mom…" Chelsea watched the woman stand and walk away toward the large strung lights and revelry.
And she immediately went in the opposite direction. Her feet carried her over the smooth path. Her Uncle's house was far from the tourist attractions, the ground lush from volcanic fertile growth. The stars peeked around the fading velvety pink and navy sky. She passed by The Spot, a not so local secret swimming place, watching a few of her older cousins and her new brother splashing before continuing on; as if she could outrun the nightmare by wandering the wilds.
Night caught up to her quickly, the sky so full of starlight it looked as though it were diseased. Chelsea felt the prick of worry grip her stomach. She knew the island well, but not at night. At night the land was different, wilder, stranger. At night the trees were taller, the noises louder, the shadows were things creeping around to grab at her. Chelsea's hands tangled in her My Little Pony shirt as her legs churned faster. Red glowing blurs blinked and vanished in the distance.
Faster.
Something in the dark chuckled.
Faster.
The hair on her arms and neck pricked, chicken skin flooded over her as she broke into a run, her chest heaving. She could hear a second set of footfalls behind her. Heavier. Faster.
"No!" Her little voice cried out, her eyes watered. "Please!"
A fork in the road, she veered off the path she didn't recognize. The footsteps slowed, walking after her. She could feel it enjoying this. Her body shuddered as her lungs burned, her feet felt like lead as she rounded a sharp turn.
Ahead was a cave. She could hide there.
Chelsea ran for it, training her eyes on the rocky maw. The footsteps behind picking up pace, loping after her. It didn't matter. It wouldn't catch her now.
She crossed from dirt onto the smooth rock, going slow to avoid cutting her feet. The thing screeched and howled and paced just feet beyond the entrance, but didn't follow. Couldn't follow.
Chelsea didn't look back. Wouldn't look back. She knew better. Chelsea had heard the stories of the things that walked on the islands. She knew if she looked it would have her. Besides, deeper in the cave she could hear music and there was a glow.
Laughter like none she'd ever heard before, clear and musical. Like running water and bells and violins. It all echoed down the cave to her, beckoning her. And so she followed. The rock turned to moss, vines, fern, and mushrooms began springing up thicker and thicker as she continued, as the light got brighter and the voices louder.
A blinding light greeted her; enveloped her. When her eyes adjusted she saw the most fantastical party of imaginary people she had never dreamed. Moving through them they welcomed her, touching her hair, twirling her to the beat, using their butterfly wings to take her higher, higher above the trees and gently floating back down.
Some had goat legs, some had hair made of flowers, others had eyes of red fire. It was the one with hair like water that grabbed her hand at last, stopping the endless twirling and dipping and spinning.
"Come, my child." Its voice rang like three people were talking at once. "Let's feed you. You are hungry are you not, my sweet?"
Awed at the way its skin glimmered gold Chelsea could only nod. She was suddenly very hungry; so hungry she could eat everything at the table the beautiful imaginary person led her to.
There were pies and tarts and breads and custards. Cakes and treacle and juices.
"We're cooking a pig back at Uncle's house." Chelsea grinned up at the creature, lost in the galaxy eyes.
"Were you, my doll?" Its long hand grabbed a wooden cup, filling it with a honey colored juice that smelled like poplars. "We don't eat much meat here. That's for the other kind."
Chelsea reached for her juice. "Oh I'm thirsty."
"I know, sweet one." Fingers dropped to her hair, tangled in it, slid down, repeated. "We have so few children play with us these days. You're such a delight. Will you drink and stay longer?"
Chelsea looked up, "I can't stay long. My new mom-my mom. She doesn't like being my new mom. She's just mom now…" Little fingers dug into the grooves of the cup. "She said I have to be home in half an hour. I won't get dinner if I'm not."
"Oh, Dear." It smiled softly, hand wrapping around her own. "We have so much food for you here."
Chelsea's eyes lit with glee. "You do! Mom won't mind if I already eat, right?"
"No, little one. Now drink and eat. Stay and dance with me? Be my friend. Please?"
Those endless eyes gazed at her and Chelsea smiled, raising the cup to her lips when a blur smacked it out of her hands.
"No!"
"Puck!" The imaginary person rose, eyes narrowed. "How dare-"
"Oh, look!" The little imaginary person craned around to gaze at the table, "Pigsnout, Taft, and Luffkin are fighting over the pies again!"
The imaginary being tensed, mouth opening and closing before turning and storming off towards the mess of bodies on the table.
"Don't you know anything!" The little green and gold person turned on her. "You humans are all so stupid."
Chelsea squeaked when he grabbed her hand.
"You don't eat the food, you don't drink the- Hey!"
She pulled out of his grip, hands tracing over his wings. "Are you real?" Moving to knocking on his horns, "Are you imaginary?" She pinched at his skin. "Am I-"
"Stop!" He stomped, turning to her. "My name is Puck. Oh!" He covered his mouth, "I shouldn't have told you that."
"Why not?" Chelsea's head tilted as he grabbed a handful of treats.
"It's a fairy thing." He shrugged, popping a piece of food in his mouth. "C'Mon. I'll take you home."
"I…" Chelsea looked back at the fae dancing and playing. "What if I want to stay here?"
It was his turn to look at her curiously. "You would be stuck as a kid and finally returned home after a hundred years."
Brown eyes widened. "A HUNDRED YEARS?! That's like a whole lifetime."
Puck snorted, wings fluttering. "Yeah. Let's go."
He grabbed her hand again, leading her further away from the fairies and music and food. Chelsea's feet found smooth volcanic rock again.
"Oh." She tugged on his hand, making him pause midchew. "There was a-a thing out there."
He frowned, swallowed. "I think I know. It won't bother us."
Chelsea's stomach growled. "Puck…"
The grass was soft under her feet, the stars winked through the trees.
"Puck I'm hungry." He shrugged, eating another bread piece. "Puck, share your food." Chelsea stomped, surprised when nearly immediately he offered his outstretched hand. "O-oh. Thank you."
"You…" he frowned, watching as she grabbed two pieces. "You shouldn't eat those."
"Too late." Chelsea swallowed guiltily. "Sorry."
Her hand found his again and he stared at it for a while. "How did you find the fairy ring? Most people who wander into them are lost or want to be lost."
"My new mom." Chelsea shuddered, moving closer to a less green, more skin colored Puck. "She's not nice. My real mom and dad are gone. They're dead. And my new mom…" Chelsea bit her lip, fingers knotting in a loose thread at her hem. "Your wings and horns are gone."
"It's my disguise." Puck's grip tightened as they passed by the still noisy swimming hole. "We're friends, right?"
Chelsea blinked, nodded. "I'm Chelsea Kalua!" She pulled her hand from his grip and presented it proudly, chest puffed out.
With a laugh he took it, "Puck Goodfellow." They shook once before interweaving their fingers again.
"But we're leaving tomorrow." Chelsea frowned.
"Don't worry, 'Little One'." He winked, smiling at her giggle as they approached the family. "I'll find you next year."
Her head snapped to him. "You will?!"
He nodded, pushing her forward as he faded to the shadows. "I know your name now. We're friends. Besides," his eyes glowed heavy green in the darkness as the rest of him vanished, "you owe me a favor."
I’m late to the party and idk if anyone has asked these yet but 7, 13, 17?
7. What is your deepest joy about writing?
Answered here!
13. What is a subject matter that is incredibly difficult for you write about? What is easy?
Animal abuse/death.
I guess there are also just things I don't like writing because I find them uninteresting or squicky. I tend to avoid writing about pregnancy, and I don't like writing kidfic (I know, I know! I just posted a kidfic! Sometimes I like to challenge myself).
This is going to sound horrible, but a lot of Difficult Topics are easy for me to write about? Like, I have no problem writing about mental illness, or sexual assault, or abuse, or death. Even writing about suicide doesn't really bother me that much.
17. Talk to me about the minutiae of your current WIP. Tell me about the lore, the history, the detail, the things that won’t make it in the text.
My current main WIP is a Froststrange coffee shop AU that uses the fake dating trope, so I wouldn't say there's a lot of lore or minutiae. Loki is a twenty-eight year old gay guy from Hartford, CT, who moved to New York for college. He has an MA in Russian History, but he didn't want to continue with grad school, so he works at a coffee shop called The Daily Grind, along with his BFF, Val. He has a paralyzing fear of abandonment and of letting people down with his failures, so he doesn't date, and also rarely sees his family (his dad and older brother). He desperately wants his life to go somewhere, but is overwhelmed by what he'd need to do to get back on the track he thinks is the right one. The first step would be getting a better job, but he doesn't even know where to start.
Stephen is a thirty-seven year old bi dude and a neurosurgeon at a Manhattan hospital. He's up for a big promotion (and convinced he's a shoe-in) to neurosurgeon-in-chief, but his coworker/friend/ex-girlfriend Christine tells him the odds are severely against him, because the general perception of him is that he's a robot with no heart. He has no relationship with his family. His fear of failure drives him to put his career above everything else, and he has few close relationships. He also feels like he's failing at being queer, because he's not "bi enough."
Stephen is the one that hatches the 'I'll get myself a pretend significant other to prove I have a heart' plan. What better person to ask then the cute guy at the coffee shop he goes to every single day?
That's not really lore so much as it is just...character sketches of the two mains, haha.
Thank you so much for asking!!
Weird Questions for Writers (because writers are weird)
