The Only Distraction to Quidditch
BG: Never before has Oliver Wood been distracted during a quidditch match.
I spent a longer time daydreaming of this scenario than actually writing this.
Being in quarantine could be quite lonely so here’s me trying to fill in the gap and emotional need by writing a cute fluffy Oliver Wood x reader fic! Hope you enjoy it! Stay safe, stay indoors and of course stay healthy!
Wow also this ended up with a lot of Weasley Twins wingmen power moments so enjoy! So basically this fic are for the underrated gems of Oliver Wood and Fred & George Weasley!
~Also tell me if you guys wanna fic written around their summer! kinda like a prologue/ background piece. Or even a part 2!~
Word Count: 1662
12 April 2020,1am
>>MASTERLIST<<
You are a very shy and quiet student in Hogwarts. Sure, you get along well with all the other students, but you haven’t really found a clique for yourself. Yeah you could try harder, but you just don’t want to change yourself just to fit in. You simply can’t wrap around your mind how people can make small talk and leave it as that, jumping from one person to another without connecting more deeply. You’re definitely an introvert living in an extroverted world. Don’t get it wrong, you still love going on spontaneous adventures and having fun but not many people still that side of you, you tend to be reserved but when you’re by yourself, with a close group of people or in an environment where you don’t feel judged, your uniqueness shines through and your heart in on your sleeves.
Saturdays are normally spent in the Ravenclaw common room curled up on one of the couches with a book. This time however you are on your way to the quidditch pitch for the fist ever match of the year, Gryffindor versus Slytherin. This is also the first ever match that your best friend, and lately turn crush (damn you summer holidays!), Oliver Wood.
You plan to make a quick detour to the Gryffindor tent, you’re almost to the door when suddenly-
You yelp, feeling strong arms wrapping you in place.
‘Got ya!’ whispered someone in your right ear.
Turning around, coming face to the face with the beautiful boy you’ve come to be fond of, in the more than a friend kinda way.
‘Ollie!’ meeting his eyes, the eyes you’ve seen all summer, every day without fail and surprisingly you didn’t grow tired of.
‘Heyya y/n. What brings a pretty Ravenclaw like you here?’ He hugs you closer ‘Could it be a special someone…. Like me?’ raising one of his brows.
You can feel your check heat up and you shake you head in hopes to cool them down before that get any redder. ‘You wish Wood.’ You countered.
‘Wood?’ Putting a hand to his chest. ‘Ouch love that hurts.’
‘I’m here for the new quidditch captain actually…Have you seen him?’ you say, putting on an innocent curious face.
‘Ohhh you are a real tosser y/n!’ playfully hitting your shoulder.
’10 minutes til game starts’ announces Lee Jordan through the speaker.
‘I guess that’s my cue to go find a seat’ you gestured to Oliver.
Oliver’s smile falters a little.
‘But for reals tho, I came to wish you good luck captain’ you look at him sincerely, putting your hand on his shoulder. ‘I know you’ll do great.’
‘Thanks.’ And just like that his smile is back. ‘I’ll look for you in the stands okay?’
‘Okay, I’ll be there cheering you on.’
-------------------------------------------------------
‘Gryffindor to Slytherin, 80-20’ Lee shouts.
It’s already been 30 minutes into the match and Gryffindor is in the lead, Oliver Wood being this his first game ever as captain should be happy right? Yes and no not really as there is one girl stuck in his mind. She promised that she would be in the stands, but every time Oliver manages to divert his attention to the Ravenclaw stands, he just couldn’t find her.
‘where are you y/n?’ he mumbles to himself. It’s fifth time scanning the seats but again he couldn’t find her.
What Oliver didn’t notice was that a bludger was headed his way.
‘Oi Oliver look out!’ warned Fred.
Oliver turned but the bludger was getting closers faster than he wanted. Thankfully George swooped in and batted it out of the way.
‘You alright mate? You seem distant.’ George noted.
‘Yea umm no actually, have you seen y/n? I don’t see her in the Ravenclaw stand.’
‘Told ya brother, it’s girl trouble.’ Fred said teasingly.
‘She’s in the Gryffindor Stand’ said George. ‘Now that’s out of the way, hope we got your full attention now.’
‘100%’ nodded Oliver. ‘Let’s just hope Harry gets the damn snitch soon.’
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
‘Harry Potter has caught the snitch! Gryffindor wins!’ exclaimed Lee.
Everything was happening at once. One moment, Oliver just landed with the rest of the Gryffindor team and cheering among themselves for their win then the next thing he knows he’s face is so close to yours; he could feel your breath.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You ran down to the quidditch pitch to congratulate the team. There was a crowd around Oliver so you decided to hang around for a while with the rest of the team. You were talking to Harry when you feel a tap on your shoulder. The Weasley twins, you were close to them being as they lived close to you back home.
George smiled ‘You know you almost cost us the game, right Freddie?’
‘Absolutely Georgie’ his twin answered.
‘As if!’ you chuckled, thinking they were joking ‘What are you talking about?’
‘Well you see Ms.L/n’ started George.
‘You seemed to accomplish the impossible task of distracting the one and only Mr. Quidditch during a game!’ continued Fred.
‘Yea right.’ Not believing the jokesters.
‘oh believe it y/n.’ The twin said together. You hate it when they do that. ‘Oliver Wood is head over heels for you.’
‘But as much as he may be confident anywhere else, our boy isn’t when making the first move, especially when he thinks he’s jeopardizing your friendship if he confesses.’ Added Fred.
Putting a reassuring hand on your shoulder, George continues ‘That is why, you have to make the first move y/n. For you guys and for everyone else.’
‘what? For everyone else?’ You exclaimed. Then realized you missed that bigger point. ‘And no I don’t like Oliver that way!’ you tried denying but it was too late.
‘C’mon y/n.’ sighed Fred ‘Everyone knows you guys like each other, all expect you two. So just put us out of this in denial misery and just get together!’
‘We would rather power through all the lovey dovely crap than the denial stage’ George said truthfully.
George looked past your shoulder. ‘Well good luck y/n!’ and hurriedly grabbed Fred away.
‘Wait what? Where are you going—’ You turned and yup now you knew why they left all of a sudden.
He is here right in front of you. After all the information that came into light you heart is beating faster than it ever was.
‘Hey Ollie! Congratulations!’
‘Thanks y/n. It’s because you were here’ he smiled.
‘You almost scared me to death when that bludger was coming towards you earlier you know….’ You admitted.
‘Really?’
‘Yeah, I thought you were gonna get knocked out!’
‘Well I’m one tough cookie.’ Oliver boasted. ‘It’ll take more than a bludger to knock me out!’
Wanting to test the twin’s remark, you asked ‘you seemed distracted Ollie, I have to say I never seen you loose focus in a game before!’
Oliver chuckled ‘well I guess it’s because it’s my first game as captain...’
See! That that Weasleys, it was nerves not me!
Then Oliver shook his head ‘actually it’s more than that--’ Moving closer. ‘I was looking for you during the game, I was trying to find you in the Ravenclaw stand but I couldn’t—’
‘That’s cause I was in the Gryffindor stand, you dummy!’ you interjected.
‘Yeah that twin told me that. But why? Why were you in the Gryffindor stand?’
Now it was your turn to step closer. ‘It was to show everyone that I’m there to fully support the Gryffindor team.’
‘Just the Gryffindor Team?’
‘Well the Gryffindor Team and their newly appointed, super handsome captain.’ You smirked
It was as if your words had given him the courage he needed. Which they did.
Oliver closed the gap between you two and took your hands in his.
Nervously running his thumbs across your hands, he confessed ‘It means a lot to me that you came here today, I know you usually are up in the Ravenclaw common room with your head in a book.’ He smiled. ‘But you came, you came y/n.’
Looking into your eyes, his own eyes watering a bit. ‘I searched for you in the stands whenever I could, you are my strength y/n and I wanted to impress you. Heck I almost got knocked out looking for you, to see how you’re there supporting me!’ he huffed. ‘But I wouldn’t change a thing.’
He took a deep breath. He is laying all his cards down. ‘Y/n L/n I like you, like I really really like you, more than a friend. Heck you know what? I might even love you. Yes Yes. Y/n L/n I have fallen in love with you. You are my world.’
Your heart swells in joy and love when you heard those words. ‘Ollie I---’
‘I know this is a lot and you might not feel the way. But I just hard to get it out, I know this changes a lot and probably was a stupid idea---’
He is blabbering now, and you know that Oliver blabbers when he’s nervous.
So you shut him up, not with your usual moaning but when a kiss.
You kissed him hard, you put all that you were meaning to say into that kiss.
It took a second for the shock to fade then he kissed back.
You pulled apart, smiling. Laughing at his shocked face, the -I can’t believe this happened, is this real- face still evident.
‘I feel the same way idiot, I was gonna say that before you cut me off’ you stated.
You kissed him again. ‘I love you. Oliver Wood.’
‘I love you too Y/n L/n’ tucking your hair behind your ear and leaning his forehead against yours.
This moment right here, was yours and his. It felt as if you were the only two beings in the world.
Until of course you got interrupted with a distant shout. ‘FINALLY!’ Ahh the Weasley Twins.
Well credits to them, they were right, and they were effective wingmen.

Do you take prompts? If so, Captain Canary stuck on Lian Yu? Have a great day!
I do take prompts! I apologize this took so long, quarantine has slowed my writing of late. Anyway, hope this is what you were looking for.
Captain Canary Takes place after the team is scattered at the end of S1 Leonard never died at the Oculus.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Sara wakes with a groan, earth cold and damp beneath her. “Sara?” Leonard’s voice calls from somewhere to her left.
“I’m alright.” She sits up, doing a quick check to verify nothing is broken. “You?”
“Peachy,” he walks into her vision, offering his hand. She accepts, allowing him to pull her up.
“Any idea where we’ve ended up?” She asks, looking at the forest surrounding them. “Or when?”
“Aside from the obvious? No.” He crosses his arms, “you think our dear Captain could have at least put us near civilization.”
Sara scoffs, “That’s if he had anything to do with our destination to begin with.” She dusts the dirt from her pants, giving a quick spin before picking a direction to begin walking. Leonard follows, the pair looking for any sign of a town or other people.
Sara picks up a sturdy stick, spinning it experimentally before nodding to herself. Len has his gun, but she hadn’t had her staff on her when they had been sent through time. This is far from perfect, but it will do in a pinch. They remain mostly quiet during the walk, until finally they find themselves on a cliff looking at the ocean.
“On the coast then,” Leonard frowns, “surprised there isn’t a trail leading to a view like this.”
There’s something familiar, but Sara pushes it away. “Maybe it’s private?”
“If we keep to the coast we should eventually find an open beach, or at least some people.” Len motions along the cliff, “or a boat that can get us out of here.”
Sara hums her agreement, falling in step behind him as they navigate the rougher terrain. The more they walk, the more ocean they find. “We’re not going to find people.” Sara states, stopping suddenly. “I know where we are.”
He turns to look at her, “assassin?” He’s never seen her looks so…small. Her arms are wrapped around herself, looking more like a hurt young woman than a time traveling hero.
“We’re on an Lian Yu, an island far from civilization.” She motions to the water, waves breaking against the wreckage from a ship. “no one is coming to rescue us.” She takes a shuddering breath, straightening before motioning back to the woods. “Come on, I know where Ollie’s living place was.” She motions behind her, “I should lead, there are traps all through the forest.”
He nods, keeping in step behind her as she navigates the woods. The sun is setting by the time they reach the small cave, but it’s dry and it looks like there are some carved bowls and cups along with a place for a fire.
“There should be enough wood for tonight,” Sara motions to a small pile, running a hand through her hair. “There’s a spring of clean water not far, Ollie should have had a canteen for it around here.”
“Are you sure?” He begins building a fire, “I can go.”
“I’ll show you where it is tomorrow.” She gives him an almost smile. “For tonight I’d rather you not get crushed by a flying log, or get caught by hunting trap.”
“Ye of little faith,” he smirks back at her.
She makes her way past him to the mouth of the cave, “I’ll be back.”
While she is gone Leonard gets a fire going, rummages through the supplies and manages to find some threadbare blankets they can use. Sara had mentioned this place on occasion while they played cards. But she was vague, and looking at this place now he wonders how long she was trapped.
“I got some food while I was out.” She tosses a couple rabbits on the cave floor. “They aren’t much, but they should tide us over until morning.” She places the canteen near where he sits, then drops unceremoniously to a sitting position on the other side of the fire. “I hate damn island.”
“Anything I should know?” He asks, watching her carefully.
“About the island, or about my history with it?” She asks, head resting in her hands.
“Whatever you want to share.” He can see it again, that underlying fear in her. “whenever you are ready.”
She cleans the kills, sets them to cook. “I died here.” He doesn’t speak, just waits for her to decide. “Before almost freezing with you, before being shot or poisoned in central…came the island. And Sara Lance, the girl who loved playing hooky and adventures…she died on this island.”
“I’m sorry, Sara.” He picks at the meat, “that you’re back here.”
“I’m stronger this time, and…” she gives him a small smile. “At least this time I’m trapped with you.”
~~~
As the days pass she opens up more, tells him the whole story. About the Gambit, the island, Ivo & his men, about Shadow & Slade, all the way up to being rescued by the league. And he just listens, is there for her, just like always. The small rift brought between them at the Oculus fades, they grow closer, and despite the darkness they find light. They take supplies from the abandoned camps, build a shelter outside the cave, they hunt, explore and then settle together by a fire to pass the nights.
When the team arrives they have to cut them down from one of the old traps, Sara and Len laughing as the crew struggles above them. Once they are all down they just stare at where Sara leans into Len’s shoulder, hands entwined between them.
“What?” Leonard drawls, brow raising at them.
Mick just laughs, walking up to put a hand on each of their shoulders. “Looks like you two finally got your shit together.”
Sara just smiles, glancing between Mick and Len. “Something like that.”

[unsent]: I really hope you know you’re one of my favorite people
[unsent]: I genuinely don’t know if I would’ve gotten through those years if it wasn’t for you. thanks for being my friend and being the reason I don’t completely hate the world, I guess?
[unsent]: I never told you what happened when we were little. all those years you spent with me and I still can’t even bear the thought of speaking about it
[unsent]: you mentioning that you were assaulted really bothered me, more than I probably let on. kinda wanna talk to ollie and see if we can find whoever did that to you and beat his ass. I feel like ollie’s the protective type and he did threaten to push me overboard so like I’m sure he’d be down.....but I won’t because tbh kinda scared of you
[unsent]: you look happy, it’s nice. after everything you deserve to be happy. you’re one of the best people
[sent]: going back home on the 20th, but come the 22nd it’s going to be you, me, and some sort of hiking trail or adventure park I’m craving and adrenaline rush rn
text | red red red
[unsent]: remember the fun we used to have? good times
[unsent]: I haven’t seen you in a while...kinda sorta miss you
[unsent]: also you’re probably like the only girl I’ve slept with here that isn’t pining over me and honestly that’s kinda hurting my ego
[unsent]: no but seriously did you like disappear or something? it’s like I saw you one day and the next you just vanished
[unsent]: I hope you’re not permanently quarantining yourself...that’d be unfortunate. you’re cute
[sent]: where the fuck have you been did you like die or something
text | do not respond she may kill you
[unsent]: I’m sorry
[unsent]: I will probably never tell you that to your face, but I am sorry
[unsent]: if I would’ve known that things were going to get that bad between you two, I wouldn’t have said anything. but you need to know that I do care about her
[unsent]: you’re lucky to have her, but she’s also lucky to have you...despite me trying to convince her otherwise (sorry again)
[unsent]: I guess I tried to break you two up because not only did I want her, but I thought you two weren’t compatible. I thought there was no way in hell that you two would survive given how different you two are. but I was wrong....I’ll never admit that though
[unsent]: you’re good for her. you keep her grounded, and you two are crazy about each other. sometimes opposites aren’t so much of a bad thing
[sent]: yo
[sent]: heard you were in the nuthouse. hope you’re okay.
[sent]: also, can you and rebekah just make up already she’s not fun when she’s all heartbroken n shit. thanks 😘

Welcome to Ollie's Adventures
Hello, my name is Julia Gaughran I am a junior enrolled in the business administration program here in Providence, Rhode Island. I live with my boyfriend of four years and our wiener dog chihuahua mix Oliver, in an apartment in Woonsocket RI. But this blog is all about my dog. My dog Oliver is a Chihuahua, dachshund, and jack Russell terrier mix, he is three years old turning four on June 18th. He is a brindle color and weighs about 14 pounds.
Now his name might be Oliver, but he sure does have a lot of nicknames, for example Ollie, Olliekinz, Dobby, Yoda, and so many more. He really isn’t like any other dog and his story of how we came to have him is amazing. It was February of 2020 right before the pandemic hit and me and my boyfriend were looking to get a puppy so we were going to shelters and breeders and looking all over but we couldn’t find one that really stuck with us or was in our price range, then one day out of the blue my older brother texted me a picture of this dog and he said “hey my girlfriends friend has this dog he’s just under one year old and she is going to have him put down if she can’t find the right home for him. Would you be interested in taking him?" The very next day my boyfriend and I went to go see this dog and we immediately fell in love and agreed to take him. However, what we didn’t know when we got him was that his previous owners had never taken him outside ever even to use the bathroom because their landlord didn’t allow pets. So, when we took him outside for the first time he was scared and unsure of a lot of things, however with time and a little encouragement from us he grew to love being outside and never wants to come in. He was our perfect pandemic puppy and never left our side throughout all of quarantine and he has grown so fascinated with everything outside and just wants to smell and see everything he possibly can. He truly is just the weirdest non dog dog ever and has the appetite of a horse. I want to do this blog about him because I think people should see just how amazing and weird this little dog is just like I do, and hope people can find some real entertainment in hearing about the things that he does just like I do. I plan on telling you guys all about Oliver’s quirks and fun adventures he goes through.

2020 sucked. Here’s a look at what I am grateful for from this awful year. 1. Bo - I am glad I didn’t have to do this year alone, and pleased with how well we weathered it. I learned that as long as I am working through life’s obstacles with him, I’ll get through them. 2. Animal Crossing New Horizons - I have over 800 hrs into this game and ended up with a quirky discord community of friends who love ACNH. Truly, this was the best thing for my mental health. 3. The quarantine crew - This year we spent Saturdays playing our own trivia on Zoom, enjoyed backyard hangs together, and really trusted that we’re in this hell together, so let’s be as safe and responsible as we can. 4. The girls - I’m grateful for the long text convos, zoom hangs, mountain getaways, and park hangs. I’m lucky to be surrounded by people who took the pandemic seriously, but also understood the need to lean in when we needed the support, and to celebrate even when it required unconventional means. 5. KITTENS - Ollie and Fox were 10 weeks old when we adopted them, and it has been such a funny adventure already. It was risky to pick up & move during a pandemic & joblessness in order to get a cat, but it was immediately worth it. 6. Books - I read so much this year. Between book club and a desire to get back into social and racial justice, I think I knocked out 25 or so books. Book of the year: Eloquent Rage by Brittany Cooper. 7. Anti-Depressants & therapy - I upped my meds in June bc I was doing so poorly. I was let go from my job in Feb, and it turns out, I am not great at being unemployed especially in a pandemic. Thank satan for my counselor and the drugs that help me get out of bed. 8. Biden / Harris 2020 - This year started looking up when we learned they won the election. I am thrilled to see a woman of color change history as VP. Hopefully we can start to see healing with this new admin. 9. My health - Grateful to say neither Bo nor I experienced Covid this year and no one in our immediate circle got sick, I am also grateful that the folk I knew who contracted it had healthy recoveries. *Bookshelf review* *Book: Everything, everything*
*Author: Nicola Yoon*
*Genre: Young adult fiction, romance,* *Favorite quote:
Ocean- The endless part of yourself you never knew but always suspected was there.* *I thought this book was very clever in the way it’s written. As you read the book, you feel like you are in Madeline’s shoes. Her feelings and thoughts are just as clear to you as your own. Not to mention, it is definitely the best quarantine book there is. If anyone knows what it’s like to be trapped at home it’s Madaline Whittier.* *Madaline Whittier is sick. She has skid, which basically means she’s allergic to everything. She can’t leave the house, so she spends every day the same exact way. The same white clothes, the same boring food, the same game nights with her mom, but everything changes when Olly moves in next door. He is like no one she’s ever imagined meeting, and what’s more, he makes her feel like she’s outside. Now, Madaline finds out just how much love is worth to her… and it is worth Everything. * *I have found many similarities between Madaline and I, starting with her unclouded love for the ocean. She is a bookworm who experiences the world through the written word, but even that is not enough for her. She has a deep sense for adventure and risk. She is deep and intuitive and never ending in her love for others. At times she is naive and idealistic, her fault and her virtue. Through this story you watch as Madeline grows from being the over trusting, perfect daughter, to a daring individual that thinks for herself but never stops being kind.* *The romance in this story is a very young one. It’s sweet and innocent, and very hopeful. It shows the risk that comes with choosing love and how you will never be the same once you do. Sometimes listening to your logic is the best way to go, but there are times your heart should get a say.* https://www.instagram.com/p/CIb-1ZslkaH/?igshid=jawgsni1imd6

The CW's sci-fi adventure series, Pandora, might've slipped under your radar when its first season premiered in the summer of 2019.
Since then, its high-octane exploits, ambitious story elements, and drop-dead gorgeous cast have attracted an enthusiastic following among viewers looking for entertaining escapism.
With the Season One finale ending with almost as many questions as answers, Season Two, premiering on October 4, promises even more of its trademark complex relationship shenanigans while the team tries to save the universe. No biggie.
Joining Jax, the titular "Pandora", and her established Scooby gang members, Xander and Ralen, are her new roommate Zazie and a surprise (and not exactly welcome) blast from the past, Jett.
Actors Nicole Castillo-Mavromatis and Akshay Kumar spoke with TV Fanatic via Zoom from their on-location shoot in Sofia, Bulgaria and were incredibly open and enthusiastic about their experiences as the newcomers to the cast.
Making a scripted television program during the time of COVID is a wholly new experience for everyone.
Production on Season Two began in Bulgaria on July 24, 2020. Nicole and Akshay flew out from the UK around that date and had to quarantine for four days before being tested and allowed on set.
Throughout the production, everyone who wasn't on camera was masked and anyone new joining them from the UK or US had to quarantine upon arrival. COVID testing was done twice a week.
At the time of our interview, they only had four days of shooting left on the season.
Shooting ten episodes in two months is, in Akshay's words, "MADNESS" and made for a tight-knit core cast and crew who worked extremely hard, grateful for the opportunity to continue to do their jobs.
"Knowing that we're lucky enough to work in a time like this," observed Akshay,"To be able to work abroad and be treated so well and do our jobs in a time when most people we know don't have any work. It really has hyped up the gratitude of working and the joy of working."
As the newest regulars to the show, Nicole and Akshay felt extremely included and appreciated by the cast members returning from Season One.
Asked if Quintana, Dench, or Radcliffe have taken on a leadership role on set, they both felt that all three stars had contributed to the positive morale and energy of the show.
"They've been incredibly welcoming," Akshay asserted,"And not just to us, as series regulars, but to any guest stars we've had for an episode. They've been incredibly welcoming and you just make friends. Every new episode, you make a new friend. Priscilla, Ben, Olly, they're just very much steering that Good Vibes Only sort of feeling."
Nicole agreed. "The Good Vibes Fam. But not only just them. I think everyone from Season One -- Noah (Huntley) and Vikash (Bhai) -- just everyone who came back from Season One has been super welcoming to all of the NOOBS -- me! It feels so much like a family, it's crazy how much I feel we all get along. It's wonderful."
Speaking about their characters, Nicole and Akshay were both excited for audiences to learn about Zazie and Jett who start out the season as a new-ish romantic duo.
In a small-world twist, the actors discovered when they met and started working together in Bulgaria that they actually lived only twenty-five minutes away from each other in East London.
Nicole came into the Pandora-verse initially a total novice. After booking the role for Season 2, she went back an binged the first season for research. As Pandora Season 1 didn't even air in the UK until lockdown began this year, she really hit the ground running.
Zazie, being completely new to the show, is a wild card. She takes the place (literally, since she's Jax's roommate) of Delaney Pilar who decided at the end of Season One to hang out with Atria Nine on Adar rather than return to the Fleet Academy.
Asked how Zazie contrasts with Delaney who came from an extremely privileged background and had been implanted with a huge amount of tech, allowing her brain to access and hack -- and, unfortunately, made her vulnerable to being hacked by -- the datastream, Nicole was affectionate about her character's personality.
"I would say she is just a really bubbly, cool, fun 'chick'! She just wants to be liked. She wants some friends. She is a bit of a bookworm but she's not super smart so she does have to study, I feel, a bit more than everyone else."
But what's her superpower? Nicole was cagily vague about what's in store for Zazie.
"There are some twists and turns in her storyline. There will be some things that you find out. But, all in all, she's very wholesome, I would say."
On the initial similarity between Zazie and last season's character, Atria Nine, in that they both exude an aura of sunshiney optimism, Nicole could see how the characters compare that way but felt that Zazie brings a bit more spunk to the party.
"And there's more spunk to come," Akshay promised. "An abundance of spunk."
While Zazie begins the season based in the Academy, enmeshed in the day-to-day interactions between characters, she does get roped into the space adventures too.
"As the season goes on, she takes a much more active role in that saving the universe plotline."
Akshay, in contrast, had a bit more experience with life at the Earth Command Fleet Academy, having guest starred on an episode in Season 1 before being tapped to return as a series regular this season.
Jett was not one of the good guys when he appeared on Pandora Season 1 Episode 6.
After Delaney's implants were hacked while she slept, resulting in her walking into the packed Academy lounge completely naked, Jett made it his business to post holo-nudes of her all over the datastream as retaliation for a romantic rejection.
As he became a lead suspect in the hacker investigation, it was revealed that his reputation as a tech-head was a sham.
When Jett makes his entrance on the Season 2 premiere, he is met with understandable hostility from Jax and Ralen.
Despite his contrite apology and promise to do better, his behaviour throughout the episode doesn't do a whole lot to redeem the character.
(Total disclosure: I might've described the character as a total ass off the top of the interview.)
"He thinks he's doing great," Akshay revealed,"but he's really not. He's just digging his own grave."
While it's clearly going to be a steep uphill climb for the character to prove himself trustworthy, Akshay explained his approach.
"When Mark Altman, our showrunner, wanted me back, I thought that the only way that Jett could come back was on a sort of path to redemption but he couldn't come back as this sort of born-again saint. I thought he would try to redeem himself in the only way he knows how.
"For me, it would be kind of weird if he came back as like a brand-new character with a brand new set of ethics. His foundational personality traits -- his flirtiness, ["cheeky, charming behavior" interjected Nicole] -- which can be read as very douchy, I totally agree."
Akshay paused to think on it for moment and added,"That's probably more me than Jett, to be honest."
LOL.
"He is still on this path to redemption and he does get better at redeeming himself, I will say that. He doesn't start very well but he's trying.
"You know, in school, when you try so hard to get someone to like you and you end up just shooting yourself in the foot? That's very much Jett for the first few episodes.
"He grows. He becomes a bit more balanced. He doesn't lose his humor or his cheek which is really nice. We just get to know more about him and why he is the way he is.'
Looking at Season 2 as a long arc, Nicole and Akshay see the show finding its footing as more of a cohesive space adventure.
"I think this season leans more into the sci-fi side of it, the adventure, the high stakes, the heavy action," Nicole confirmed, then qualified it a bit. "But, again, there are romantic scenes and romantic storylines but I definitely feel like they've leaned a lot more into the action of it."
"The action and the bigger threat," Akshay added. "The looming threat that we learned about in Season 1. I think that's definitely much more present. That's definitely more at the forefront, especially of Jax and Xander's characters [decisions].
"What's really great is the emphasis on relationships between characters which is a huge plus. The constant evolution between characters such as Ralen and Jett and where that goes, then Xander and Jax, Zazie and Jett, Zazie and Jax.
"There's so many different webs that intertwine so much more, in a much more human fashion. Friendships are made and broken, then new, unlikely friendships are made.
"All the while, they're all working towards [confronting] the big enemy, the looming threat. So I think that's definitely much more grounded."
Nicole comes to acting from an extensive dance background and while we won't get to see Zazie trot out those skills on-screen this season, she dreams of being able to represent both her natural and nurtured background one day.
"I've always wanted to be able to play a role that kind of represents where I come from, my heritage. Maybe a role that is a Latina. That would be amazing. Just because I feel like I've never really cast in that direction.
"So it would be amazing to play someone of my heritage and 'rep' the heritage. Or as a part of a musical. That would be great."
Wrapping the two wishlist items together, I suggested something like In the Heights, which garnered an enthusiastic response as it's one of her favorite shows.
Akshay's professional credits include roles on films like Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi and regular roles on TV series, The Halcyon and Devs. His heart lies with the action-oriented, stunt-heavy roles.
"I love stunt sequences and I wish I had more of that on this show. I get a real kick out of any sort of role that allows me to just feel like a kid again. And for me, the select sequences I have on this show just blow my mind. The amount of fun I have."
Recalling he had recently watched John Wick 3: Parabellum, he expressed his desire to be Keanu Reeves in that role.
"Anything that's teetering on the dangerous and you-may-die sort of edge. I'm a bit Tom Cruise-y like that.... yeah, I could be the British-Indian Tom Cruise. Let's go for that."
For both Nicole and Akshay, the experience of being part of the Pandora family has been nothing short of wonderful.
"It's a dream!" Nicole sang out without hesitation when I asked for their feelings about the show.
"Honestly," Akshay professed,"It's been such a great ride. Everyone here is so lovely, and everyone works so hard."
"It's been such an amazing experience," Nicole added,"I personally feel like I've learned so much being out here and everyone is just beautiful, so lovely, and the crew is wonderful. The cast is really wonderful. All the directors we've worked with. Our D.O.P., Max, and Mark and Steve. Just everyone."
Pandora Season 2 premieres TONIGHT, Sunday, October 4, at 8/7c on The CW.

Quarantine Life Lately
I think I’ve officially lost track of how long we’ve been self-isolating…and for those of us in NY, there seems to be no end in sight. I’m so grateful to have a job that I can do from home, but I’d be lying if I said that this virus outbreak hasn’t altered the scope of my work. While some of you have mentioned that you welcome the distraction of personal style posts & pretty spring fashion, I also realize that we are living in a very different world right now & I want to share content that is both practical & helpful for navigating these circumstances.
So, today’s post is more lifestyle-related & I’m sharing what I’ve been up to lately – including the tastiest meals I’ve made, the workouts I’ve been doing & the best things I’ve purchased since quarantine began. Hopefully this gives you some new recipes to try, fun activities to do & simple ways to make this time of staying at home a little more enjoyable!
THINGS I’VE BEEN BUYING
All these are exclusively from Target & Amazon because they have the quickest delivery available (so many other retailers have delayed shipping right now). I love utilizing the order pick-up option at Target & I’ve discovered that many of their items actually have special deals/lower prices when you do it this way – for example, I can get my favorite coffee for $2.00 less! Here’s the best of what I’ve bought over the last month:
Ribbed Crewneck Tees My t-shirt drawer has been needing a little update, so I was happy to discover these cotton/modal blend tees. They are so soft & stretchy and the ribbed detail gives them a more refined look (perfect for dressing up or down). These come in 11 different colors & they’re on sale now – I bought two in blush brown & white (not see-through at all!). These are a little more fitted than your average tee, so I’d size up if you prefer a looser fit.
Acrylic Stackable Organizer Drawers Quarantine provides the perfect opportunity for organizing…and since we have the added benefit of packing for our upcoming move, we’ve been purging a lot and working to identify what we need to maximize storage space once we’re settled with my parents. I bought some of these clear drawers, which are ideal holding vitamins, first aid items, toiletries or makeup – you can set them side by side or stack tall & they come in two different size options.
Healthy Snacks Who else feels like they are snacking constantly while stuck at home? I’ve learned that if we don’t have healthy options on hand, I will end up eating my kids treats (hello, leftover Easter candy). So I am trying to keep a constant stock of my favorites like this grain-free granola (so good with fresh fruit & yogurt), these roasted pistachios (no shells to hassle with) & these cheddar cheese crisps (pairs very well with red wine!).
Posture Corrector File this under things I should have bought years ago. I cannot tell you what a difference this has made & how much it’s helped me to stop slouching & hunching over my desk all day long. It’s comfortable and you can wear it under or over your clothes – I put mine on around 9am & take it off at 3pm.
Reusable Silicone Straws I love that these are color-coded & come with their own carrying case so everyone in the family gets one. These come with a little cleaning tool, but I usually just throw ours in the dishwasher. We typically keep these in the car for easy access on-the-go – although we haven’t been going out much lately, I know these will come in handy on our cross-country trip in a few weeks.
Wireless Charger As soon as the kids started doing school from home, we realized that we didn’t have enough chargers for all the devices in the house during the day – and, let’s be honest, we were getting a little tired of hearing them argue over who had a lower battery life and needed it more. So we bought two of these wireless chargers and put one on the main floor & one upstairs near their bedrooms. It’s such a great price & is compatible with most devices (works for AirPods too!).
Geometric Earrings + Straw Headband I used to love walking through Target to just browse their new arrivals & try things on…but those days are gone, so now we have to do it all online. When I was buying the tees mentioned above, I needed a little more to add to my order, so I threw in these fun accessories at the last minute and I couldn’t love them more! Both of them are 5% off right now when you use Target Circle (sign up for free here).
Adult Coloring Book + Colored Pencils We’ve been trying to get creative with family activities since quarantine started – challenges be an ordeal or an adventure…so we are doing our best to focus on the latter & make fun memories for the kids. We’ve done outdoor scavenger hunts, game olympics, fitness challenges, and our new favorite: art night. I ordered coloring books on Amazon for everyone – my son got this Harry Potter coloring book, my daughter got this summer scene coloring book, my husband got this muscle cars coloring book & I chose this street style coloring book for myself. We turn on some music & sit around the table while we talk, laugh & color together – it’s the perfect activity for those rainy evenings when we can’t go for a family walk.
Core Sliding Discs I’ve definitely been buying more workout equipment over the last month & these are the latest addition – try them for an effective core workout like none other! These are double-sided so you can use them on hard floors or carpet. If you don’t already own resistance bands, there’s a great combo pack with sliders here. This is a great reference sheet for different moves to try with them.
Elastic No-Tie Shoe Laces These are a game changer if you’re like me & have been wearing sneakers more lately. Just take out your regular laces & replace with these and you’ll have shoes that you can easily slip on & off! After I bought mine, I ordered some for my mom & dad since they have a harder time bending over now that they’re older. These come in 22 different colors & would also be great for little kids!
Silicone Stainless Steel Tumbler We’ve been trying to do a family walk after dinner each night when the weather is nice – it’s such a great bonding time and the dog loves it when we’re all walking him together. Since it’s usually a leisurely stroll around the neighborhood, I’ve started bringing my wine along with me in this sleek tumbler. It’s vacuum insulated so it’s great for hot or cold drinks + the lid keeps your drink safe from splashing out.
Expressie Nail Polish So many of you have messaged me asking about at-home manicure tips and I think this video is the best tutorial I’ve seen (I use the same techniques when I paint my nails). I recently picked up these new polishes to try & was amazed by how fast-drying they were! They have a slightly angled brush, which I think is so much easier to use. I got the shades Second Hand, First Love and In A Flash Sale (perfect for spring!). Right now, Target has a promo where you can get a free bottle of nail polish remover when you buy two of these.
Pixi Eye Patches I’ve mentioned these before but I just ordered more on my latest Target order pick-up because I’ve been using them so much. They really are the best eye patches I’ve ever tried for depuffing and hydrating. Highly recommend!!
Olly Energy Gummies I don’t know about you, but I’ve had the hardest time with my energy levels lately (probably doesn’t help that we’ve been staying up much later than usual since quarantine began). I’ve sung the praises of this brand for years so I decided to try these gummies to see if they would help. I’m chronically low in B12, so it’s a supplement I need anyway + this flavor is so good. I definitely feel like I’m more motivated to get going & able to focus better throughout the day.
MEALS I’VE BEEN COOKING
If there’s one thing that quarantine has forced us to do, it’s to have more meals at home. If you’re like me, you’re probably running low on ideas. I’ve been trying out tons of new recipes and, to be honest, there have been some hits & misses. So I thought I’d share with you the ones that my family has loved & that we’ve now added into regular meal rotation at our house. These are all gluten-free and most are Whole30 compliant too!
Vegan Creamy Cauliflower Wild Rice Soup Comfort food at its finest – this is so creamy, you won’t believe it’s dairy-free! I serve this with a side salad & these almond flour crackers.
One-Skillet Spinach Artichoke Chicken I made this for the first time when I was in Oregon for Christmas with my family & it was a huge hit! You can serve it over mashed potatoes or mashed cauliflower.
Paleo Fish Tacos This is my Dad’s favorite recipe of all time – he asks for it weekly! I buy the Siete Almond Flour Tortillas and heat them up in a small pan until they get a little crispy (if you’re not GF, you can use whatever brand you prefer). I recommend using slightly less sparkling water than is called for, so the batter is thicker. I serve with homemade guacamole & these chips (also love these for a grain-free option).
Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Chicken There’s nothing easier than a good crockpot meal – just throw everything in, set the timer & forget about it! This is so easy & delicious – I recommend doubling the sauce ingredients so you have extra. I also modify this a bit and use Coconut Aminos instead of soy sauce & this unsweetened ketchup (you can add more honey if you prefer it a bit sweeter). I serve with jasmine and/or cauliflower rice & French green beans.
Crispy Zucchini Fries This obviously isn’t a meal in & of itself, but these are such a tasty side dish! I make them when we have burgers & they get devoured. I use this ranch dressing (if you’re dairy-free, this is a good alternative).
Mexican Pizza This tastes so similar to the Taco Bell version I grew up eating – definitely a more indulgent (and filling!) meal, but so worth it if you have a craving for Mexican food. Her sauce recipe is amazing & I’ve ended up using it for homemade enchiladas too! I double the recipe for our family & use Siete Almond Flour Tortillas for myself and these white corn tortillas for everyone else.
Maple Walnut Crusted Salmon This sounds & looks so fancy, but it couldn’t be more simple. My kids aren’t huge fans of salmon, but they gobble this up. If you don’t have walnuts, you can substitute pecans (I did this last week & it was just as delicious). I serve alongside Japanese sweet potatoes & roasted broccoli.
Black Pepper Chicken This tastes just like Chinese take-out…without the guilt (or MSG)! And don’t worry if you don’t have fish sauce on hand, it’s just as good without it. I serve this with jasmine rice and/or cauliflower rice.
Honey Mustard Sheet Pan Chicken & Brussels Sprouts I love this meal because it’s quick & easy and you only have one pan to wash when you’re done! I recommend cooking the chicken for about 15 minutes before adding the Brussels sprouts (unless yours are very large) – mine were smaller & ended up a little overcooked when I made this the first time. I also double the sauce to have some extra leftover (trust me, it’s so good!).
WORKOUTS I’VE BEEN TRYING
Active by PopSugar This site has over 500+ workouts & you can join for free! They have pretty much everything you could want – yoga & pilates, dance, high intensity cardio, low-impact exercises, boxing & barre. There’s a good range of 20-60 minute workouts & most don’t require any equipment (the 60-minute cardio boxing is my current favorite).
Modern Savvy Run Club My blogging BFF just launched a running club challenge that starts May 1st & I’d love for you to join us! Just download the Nike Run Club app (it’s free) and request to add Alyson Seligman as a friend. Once accepted, she will send you the invite to the challenge, which is to complete 30 miles by May 31st. Even if you’re not a runner, you can jog or walk the miles – it’s a great way to stay motivated to move a little each day & get that accountability that we all need right now!
Madeline Moves I just discovered this sweet girl a couple months ago and, once quarantine began, she started sharing at-home strength training workouts on her Instagram. I’ve created a workout folder & saved all of them so I can reference them easily – you can choose whatever weight works best for you & I like that she offers modifications for certain moves. Other Instagram accounts that I like to follow for workouts: Alexia Clark, Cara Loren & Megan Roup.

Bike Videos For The Quarantined Soul
After a week or so of practicing safe social isolation, I have exhausted my content, I’ve watched everything important from the past year or so. I had to go back. I had to revisit my interests from middle school and high school. I looked up biking videos.
I used to watch hours and hours of biking videos, and I loved them all. As a cyclist myself it was easy to put myself in their shoes, which was especially useful in the cold winter months. With corona removing everything important in my life, topped onto the sad fact that my bike was stolen months ago, rewatching these videos was insanely fun and brought me back to a time in my life that felt so simple. Endlessly scrolling through Pinkbike before hopping onto my own rig. Just a man and his bike!
These are my favorite biking videos, in no particular order (unable to pick favorites, I love sparing feelings!).
Martyn Ashton, Road Bike Party
Martyn Ashton is an excellent trials rider who suffered an injury a few years ago that left him paralyzed from the waist down. Although he had such a tragic accident he has remained positive through it and continues to ride mountain bikes to this day. I love this video, it showcases the fact that no matter what bike you ride, the most important thing is getting out there and just riding. Although I said I wouldn’t pick a favorite video, I will say that Ashton’s story is my favorite.
Stevie Churchill, OSS Edit
First off, FUCK Adam 22. Thankfully his ugg mug is not shown in this video in any capacity. This video is a simple BMX edit from one of 2014’s best BMX street riders, Stevie Churchill. It shows Churchill’s technical riding skills while also letting us know that he can huck off a 20 set with no problem. Honestly, I don’t even like BMX edits but I can’t help myself whenever this one comes on, it's a banger down to the music!
Fabio Wibmer, Fabiolous Escape 2
Fabio is perhaps one of the most promising riders/content creators of the past few years. His videos are huge in scale, the production value is that of a redbull video, and many of his shooting locations close just so that he can film. On top of that he is a great freestyler, with the speed and finesse of a downhill rider. This video in particular shows off his need for speed and absolute “who fucking cares” in regards to sending it. The first scene of this is him jumping off of a helicopter with his bike in hand, how could you not love it?
Brian Lopes, X-Fusion Part 2
Yeah, this is a sponsored video meant to highlight the suspension on his bike. But Brian Lopes, often referred to by me as the Lance Armstrong of mountain bikes, is an incredible rider that knows his California trails like the back of his hand. This video is personable, showing that even though Lopes is a professional rider, he still drinks his espresso and eats his pecan-covered pancakes one at a time, just like the rest of us. Even better than the suspension that is advertised is his bike frame, an Ibis Mojo 2, an all-mountain monster that has remained a figure in my dreams for years. While this video doesn’t make me want to buy an X-Fusion fork (eek), it does make me want to hit the trails (and the diners) with Brian!
Meafroninja, Sea Otter Classic 2014 Edit
No idea how I found these kids, but they fucking rock. This video focuses on the famed Monterey bike race and all of their shenanigans that came with it. It features a full suspension road bike, upside-down handlebars, and cased jumps. Paired with an absolute banger Danny Brown song, this video is the perfect amount of good riding and nonsensical fun that works TOO well. Check out these other ‘dude’s’ videos too because they are nearly all the same, great riding with even better vibes.
Erik Elstran and Rob Diquattrio, Weirdest Game of BIKE Ever?
These dudes are weird. I know I said I didn’t like BMX videos but this is a classic. For the uninitiated, BIKE is the same as the game of SKATE, which is nearly the same as a game of HORSE, one person does a trick and if the other is unable to land it, they get a letter. While this sounds like a boring concept for a video these guys make it fun. Some examples of the tricks they do in this video are “fall forwards”, “break a spoke”, and a “chicken nugget.” One of the riders even has a tattoo of a watch on his wrist!
Aaron Chase, Brian Lopes, Chris Van Dine, Combing Valparaiso's Hills
This GoPro video (I know) is one of the first biking videos I saw that really inspired me to start biking. Obviously I wasn’t out there doing 12ft wallrides or hauling down hundreds of stairs, but we can all start somewhere! I have already proclaimed my love for Brian Lopes in this list but he isn't the star of this video. The rider Chris Van Dine is riding a full downhill rig around the city and he is killing it. The video is fun, yet showcases these rider’s talents in a serious way.
BONUS: Bruno Sirera, Toti Bicicleta, A Portugese Adventure
Okay, I know this video isn’t a biking video, but Perropro, with the help of Bruno and Toti, will never miss. Every single video they put out is less of a skating video and more of a travel experience, with skateboards. Just imagine if Danilo and Anna knew how to ollie. While the Portugal video is my personal favorite simply because I haven't watched it dozens of times (yet), they also have amazing videos from Paris, China, and Spain.
