I don't mean for this to sound snarky so I'm genuinely sorry if it does.

until a few hours ago you were pretty convinced that it was olma not Olivia, but now that it lines up with the civita pet idea, you seem convinced that it's Olivia.

isn't that a little...idk I can't find any other word for it other than fickle. there's a specific logical fallacy I'm thinking of I think, something between post hoc ergo propter hoc and cherry picking.

none of this to say that I think holivia was real or that Harry actually got a tattoo for her but the post hoc rationalization is something I'm struggling with

I mean yes, only idiots don't change their mind after being presented with new information but I'm curious as to why you think you were denying that it was Olivia before. just in general curious about your thought process

(again because I don't want to come across as snarky, I think it is very Harry to get the names of pets tattooed and I truly value your opinion that's why I'm asking what your thought process is from olma to Olivia)

I generally don’t feel any need to explain my thought process to anyone. But I’m going to take you at your word that you’re not intending to be snarky and are genuinely curious.

I originally thought it was Olivia, but it made no sense to me that he would get that woman’s name on his thigh.

Then someone suggested it was the dog in Civita and that made sense because of the colazione tattoo, but it didn’t completely explain it because why tattoo two of the pets and not the third?

Then I saw the Olma explanation and it made more sense than tattooing Olivia Wilde’s name. And it did kind of look like Olma. But it still didn’t fully satisfy me because there’s nothing to connect him to the town of Olma.

But now that he most likely has Olivia (the dog) and Ortensia (the dog) and Colazione (the cat), it all fits into place. It’s very much the kind of quirky thing Harry would do. We know he has a connection to the hotel and to Colazione in particular. The Olivia tattoo being done separately makes sense given the nightmare of a stunt. And now the third tattoo wraps it all up.

It has nothing to do with being fickle or cherry picking. It’s just what makes the most sense given all the details I now know.

If it turns out not to say Ortensia, I’ll likely go back to the drawing board.

what are your thoughts about Harry's new tattoo?

Hi darling.

I am not going to lie: I’ve been upset about it for three days now, swinging back and forth between being super angry and trying to be okay with it. I thought about not answering this, because I don’t want to open this Pandora’s box, but I decided to in the hopes that I can help someone else. I won’t be answering follow up questions/reactions, though. That’s my boundary.

Now, I think the important thing is to call this out for what it is and stop making excuses: it’s an Olivia tattoo, and whether it’s for a stunt, a cat, a house, the One Direction song, an unknown godchild, it doesn’t matter. He has it, he showed it off (rather purposefully), he knew what we would think and the kind of debate/restlessness it would spark.

Can I forgive him for that, point blank, without further reasoning or rationalizing? I’ve decided I can.

Why? Because I don’t think it negates all he’s given me these past thirteen years and especially this last leg of tour, and because I don’t think what he does for PR and/or to protect his closet is a statement about who he is as a human being. No one has to agree with me. It’s a decision I’ve made for myself and I’m happy with it. If this is your red line (and I fully encourage you to ask yourself this regularly) then that’s fine. Grieve the person you thought he was and take steps to distance yourself from what hurts you. I don’t mean to minimize this: walking away is hard as shit. But he will be okay, I promise. The person who needs to be okay the most is you.

Do I think they really dated/that he was in love with her? No.

Why? Because he looked miserable every time he was around her, because he took very clear steps to ensure she wasn’t tied to his music (which I’ve noticed he holds pretty sacred above all), and because at the end of the day he still broke up with her two days after his very public last contractual obligation was filled and kissed her friend extremely publicly.

Can you find ways to argue around that? Of course you can. You can find ways to argue around anything. But for me, that’s not how you treat someone you’re in love with even if they’ve pissed you off beyond belief and messed with your career. Nothing Harry has done outside of this stunt shows me he would treat people he cares about that way, even in his worst moments. It’s incongruous to everything I’ve seen and known of him and his character in the last thirteen years. I may not know him personally, and I may be wrong about him, but again, that’s my conclusion and I’m happy with it.

Do I think the tattoo means something’s in the works to rekindle the stunt? I truly don’t know.

But if it is, then it’s been planned for a long, long, long time (he had the tattoo during Daylight filming, which is May 2022; the BUA was Nov 2022), and there’s nothing I can do about it. It is what it is.

I’ve always preached being okay with not knowing, being okay with being uncomfortable, and this is certainly making me walk the talk.

The bottom line is: Am I okay with the things I have answers to? Yes.

Am I okay with the thing I don’t have answers to? I am working on it.

But that’s my responsibility, not Harry’s.

I appreciate the effort of everyone trying to be rational about this bullshit, but the thing for me is that I clearly see Olivia there, it could be Olives, it could be Olina, it could be Gemma’s dead cat Olivia… but like, c’mon. It’s the same as saying Louis’ E tattoo is for Edward and not Eleanor. The tattoo is there with an intention, he’s not stupid, he wouldn’t *accidentally* write something that looks like Olivia. I have no idea if he was supposed to show the tattoo earlier or whatever just happened there, but like I said before, I really don’t give a fuck because she’s gone. And it’s annoying because he knows how messy it is and how that would upset a lot of us, because OF COURSE he’s displaying his new(ish) tattoo wearing bluegreen and his Louie shirt, so like. It’s the same as always for me, both of them have been playing this game with us for a while now… and they’re going to keep doing it because it’s convenient for everyone.

I understand people are super upset over it, but I’m so done with all this stunt shit coming from all sides, so I just decided that I can’t give a fuck anymore, I’m enjoying the good parts they’re giving us and ignoring the rest otherwise I’d have to step back 🤷‍♀️

No, never. For me these things never get into the bases of “who” I have pictured & built up he is. It triggers me on his (business) approaches, lets say on “how” he behaves or “what” choices he make. What are his limits? Does he have them?

It drives me crazy observing how this fandom loves him deeply, sometimes probably people are too involved, and instead of trying to switch the old trashy tools & narrative, maybe sacrificing a bit of success & popularity by going smoothly, nicely and kindly; how things go with H, leads you to believe he is a victim, not an industry victim but the slavery kind. Something that turns sometimes into “toxic”. I know this is not about us, fans, but the situation gets a bit ugly, in this particular case, when he has looked mad, sad and miserable by her and now you have to question if he was in such a bad shape as he pretended… because who would get a huge tattoo of a colleague at work that makes your life a literal pain, right? So here are two things you’re all forgetting about:

alright, here are my thoughts on Harry's new tattoo.

it almost certainly does say Olivia, there's not much of a question there. however, as many people are saying, it's not necessarily about Olivia Wilde. First of all, one of the one direction songs that he wrote is called Olivia. this is a popular theory running around right now.

but also, do you know how many people are named Olivia??

so fucking many. i kid you not, the other day i was at a meeting for a school function and the speaker said "you guys know Olivia?" and like ten people immediately asked "which one?" i go to a small school, no more than 90 per grade, and i know three Olivia's within my grade alone.

my point is, we're not privy to much of harry's personal life, and there could easily be someone named Olivia that he got a tattoo for that has nothing to do with romance.

I read Daisie’s timeline, and I realized that the way Shia quit the movie and Harry came in to replace him happened almost one right after the other. I’d say it was a rushed negotiation, and no one really thought through the consequences, plus I doubt anyone saw it coming.

I think Harry was trying to be as professional as possible with her, but there were moments where he definitely seemed upset: like during one of the Boston shows (before Harryween), then the whole yachtgate situation, and when he found out the nightmare was going to last another year and was seen at Sony office. You could also tell he didn't want to do pda with her until they probably told him to put in more effort.

As for the tattoo, we’ll never know what made him get it, but I think she wanted an engagement—there were even rumors, I believe—but I guess at that point he said 'I’ll just get your name tattooed instead.' I wouldn’t be surprised.

The only positive thing is that Harry—because I truly believe it was more him than his team—was able to negotiate keeping her separate from the album and didn’t let her mention him outside of the movie promo. I feel like that was a last-minute negotiation too, because it really seemed like they were going to link the album to her, but thank God that didn’t happen.

Nothing will make me believe that relationship was real, even without considering larry—things just didn’t add up, and Harry showed his frustration in many ways.

And for those who use the excuse that she interacted with his family and friends, believe me, if Harry were my friend, I’d try to protect him and help however I could (because that’s what friends do). And if that means going to her birthday just to keep up appearances and prevent my friend from another pap walk with her, I’d do it.

I absolutely agree with you about friends and family helping to keep him from suffering through more interaction with her.

I think the leak of the video of her begging Shia to stay, while also shading Florence, probably enraged Harry. I would bet she was covering all her bases and doing all of that while also courting Harry to be in the film (and we already know she lied about Shia being fired, and lied about his behavior on set, when he actually quit because the script for the film was terrible and there wasn't enough rehearsal time).

I think the tattoo exchange for an engagement was a fan theory originally (because I know I had that theory, and I saw others saying it, too). We really have no idea, but it seems like a logical leap to make.

Frankly, I think she was thrilled for it to last a second year and probably didn't fight it for one second. It was originally supposed to be released at the end of 2021. Then, in early 2022. It kept get pushed later and later (I wouldn't be surprised if she didn't please her case with WB that she could drum up more excitement for it the longer she played the PR relationship game as Harry was becoming more and more popular as his tour continued and as Harry's House was released).

The shoot went a full month longer than expected (partially due to Covid, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was due to the mess that everything was because of her). Then she literally checked out completely in terms of post-production and was so busy being a rock star girlfriend that the movie needed to be re-edited and shown to test audiences at least three times (with all reports being leaked pointing toward a disaster). Then, somehow Warner Bros decided to cancel every single movie it was making except DWD (and some movie starring the Rock that I can't even remember the name of now) and pushed its premiere to the fall when all the big Oscar contenders are released (as if. LMAO!) and somehow got it to the Venice Film Festival.

I very much think Harry's House was originally meant to be linked to her (the same way Fine Line was linked to Camille). The fact that it seems as though the Zane Lowe interview was shot and edited by January 2022 and then re-shot at Coachella in April of that year tells me everything I need to know about that. He swerved hard and cut her out of the narrative completely (THANK GOD).

I also know I said I wouldn’t respond to anything more regarding this, but I really appreciated the tone you came with and the respect for my boundaries, and I also had some thoughts that were belated so I’m taking this opportunity to add them.

I, unfortunately, don't have any answers for you, except to say that the hurt you feel is valid, as are the questions you're asking yourself.

But, the simplest way I can put things, without going too much further into the discussion, is that there are:

- things that are objectively wrong,

- things we think are right because of the information we have, and

- things Harry thinks are right because of the information he has.

There's a very huge - possibility infinite - gap in the complexity and nuance between those last two things, and it's a gap that can only really be filled by two things: faith and trust.

And in times like these, we have to ask ourselves: is who he's shown himself to be over the course of his career worth our faith and trust?

Again, I don't have an answer for you, because that's something everyone has to decide for themselves. It's also something which is fluid and can change. But so far, it's been the best way for me to approach situations where I feel he's disappointed me — to ask myself, do I actually know, truthfully and holistically, what's best for him better than he does?

(Answer: No, I really don't, and I never will.)
