Release: September 11, 1987
Lyrics:
Some people suppress you
They partch you and reap a disaster
Reeducation for the infants
Who demanded for an innocent instance
The great commandment shows the contempt
Between the world and their embarrassing pavement
Believe the scholars, read the readings
Realize the man who says anything
The great commandment
The needies believe you
They treat you
Like survivor of a disaster
Reeducation for the infants
Who demanded for an innocent instance
The great commandment shows the contempt
Between the world and their embarrassing pavement
Believe the scholars, read the readings
Realize the man who says anything
The great commandment
The great commandment shows the contempt
Between the world and their embarrassing pavement
Believe the scholars, read the readings
Realize the man who says anything
Songwriter:
Heiko Maile / Marcus Meyn / Oliver Kreyssig
SongFacts:
"The Great Commandment" is a song by the German synthpop band Camouflage. Originally recorded in 1983, the song was re-recorded in 1987 and released as a debut single in 1987. It was included on their 1988 debut album Voices & Images.
The single gave Camouflage their only number one dance hit. “The Great Commandment” stayed at the top for three non-consecutive weeks. The single became popular on independent stations and entered the mainstream pop charts in the United States, peaking at number 59 in February 1989. In its native Germany, "The Great Commandment" peaked at number 14 and reached the top ten in more than twenty countries.
The music video shows the band members among a group of children who appear to be protesting against some speaker. One of the children discovers a control panel under the stage and proves that the speaker is actually a robot controlled by the mechanism.

Camouflage
Hallo,
1) Voices & Images (1988)
2) Methods of silence (1989)
3) Sensor (2003)
4) Live in Dresden (2009)
Und ihre unbekannten Lieder sind: “„ The Great Commandment“, „Love Is a Shield“, „Suspicious Love“ oder „That Smiling Face“

Love Is A Shield (1989)
youtube
Artista: Camouflage (Alemania)
Álbum: Methods of Silence
Año: 1989
Género: Synthpop
Compositores: Heiko Maile, Marcus Meyn, Oliver Kreyssig, Peter Douglas Godwin
Sello: Atlantic Records
Letra
Love is a shield, to hide behind, love is a field to grow inside, and when I sometimes close my eyes my mind starts spinning round. Love is a baby in a mother's arms, love is your breath which makes me warm, and when I sometimes close my eyes, my mind starts spinning round. There is a feeling that flows through me, when you are near you make it real and we could live for this ideal. And all the pictures we run through, seem to be perfect, seem to be true. But nothing is quite forever, especially staying together. I don't care now what comes along, what counts is us, no matter what will be, just this naivety. The changing words we're taking in, seem to be perfect, seem to win. But nothing is quite forever, especially staying together.
