today I saw a poll about what’s the worst fandom you’ve ever been I and saw someone say Arrow, okay, I’m with you, because “the dead bird stans were a pain in the ass.” so it’s uh. good to know the most toxic people are still toxic I guess.

well that very specific phrasing pretty much tells us all we need to know about that person, doesn't it?

translation: i was an abusive person and was called out on it and that annoyed me.

it blows my mind that there are somehow still olicity stans (really? in this economy?) out there acting like they were somehow the victims in the mess that was the arrow fandom lol. like what kind of sane and rational person looks at that garbage pile and comes to that conclusion? sure i got away with being abusive toxic waste and yes my disgusting behavior was consistently rewarded and i got everything i wanted, but i was still the victim because people were mean to me and wouldn't let me continue to harass and threaten and stalk real life people in peace. feel bad for me :((

Olicity Fandom’s Top Arrow Episodes: Poll Results and Fandom Rewatch

Hey everyone! About a month ago, I created a poll HERE where I asked the fandom to rank their top episodes of Arrow. Well, MORE THAN A HUNDRED OF YOU VOTED! and here are the results, the definitive list of our fandom’s Top Arrow Episodes:

1x14 "The Odyssey" (because we elected to watch the list in chronological order)

on SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 23 at 7 PM UTC (that’s 2 PM Eastern, 11 AM Pacific).

Here’s the thing…for over a year, we have been holding WEEKLY Olicity Fandom coordinated group rewatches. Basically, it works like this:

1. join our Discord server* (basically, Discord is a group chat platform that is free, reputable, and available on desktop and mobile. If you want more info, it’s very googleable.)

*in order to join the server (which is invite-only, to keep out trolls and antis), you must agree to a few simple rules: 1) be an Olicity/Felicity/OTA fan, 2) consent to NSFW content, and 3) agree to treat people with respect and NOT CREATE DRAMA because we are lovers, not haters ;)

and if you agree to those rules, direct message me, or @1-crazy-dreamer or @lucyyh or @stephswims to get an invite!

2. at the appointed time, we queue up the episode on our own devices and then all hit “play” at the same time, watching the episode live “together” while we chat on the discord server.

So Arrow is ending...

How many of you are surprised? 

Anyone? No one? Not a single soul? 

I mean... maybe we’re surprised that’s a 10 ep order and not a “full” season. Maybe even a few people are surprised that it’s s8 and not... s9 or s10 or something. But we all knew Arrow was going to end sooner rather than later, I think. 

Still, Stephen’s announcement this last Wednesday threw everyone for a loop. 

(why did I select that gif? THAT WAS THE WRONG PIC TO SELECT. That was his last day on set and he’s being sad and nearly crying for the same reason that STEPHEN was sad and nearly crying and the same reason we’re all just a frickin’ mess and WHY OH WHY AM I THIS WAY)

Ahem. Where was I?

OH yes. Sad. Loop throwing. The last couple days have been filled with various levels of coping from everyone. It comes and goes in waves. Watching Steve’s FB live was a low point. Cuz I was fine until I watched that. Then @jbuffyangel and I did some podcast episodes and I got to where I was fine again. 

And then Emily posted her thoughts.

I have a feeling this is just how it’s gonna be for the next year (less.  less than a year. oh god oh godohgod). 

So I wanted to post something while everything is all still raw and exposed and vulnerable. I know I’ve spoken a lot about how I came to this fandom. I was over in the Doctor/Rose fandom for a couple years before and things were kinda getting to a point where I didn’t want to be there anymore. Arrow provided a lovely distraction and I really honestly thought that’s all it’d be. I would distract myself with Arrow for a few months and when things calmed down in D/R land, I would be back over there full time. 

Yeah. I know. Pretty naive of me. Because the first episode I watched live was 2x07, State vs Queen, and Olicity got their meat hooks DEEP into my heart. 

And it became rather clear rather quickly that my journey to Olicity-land wasn’t going to be temporary. There were some rough spots when Oliver hooked up with Sara where I considered sticking with my plan and ditching out but... I didn’t. Because this was a unique opportunity. 

You see, when I came to Doctor/Rose, that ship had already run it’s course. Journey’s End had already aired several years beforehand and canon was spent as far as Doctor/Rose were concerned. It was all said and done. No new material. No new journey. I didn’t have to worry about anything getting screwed up because it was already done, but I also didn’t have the excitement of getting to watch it unfold in REAL TIME. 

Olicity offered me a chance to really join the ship on its journey. Coming in live during early s2 meant that I saw the bulk of their relationship journey happen live. Sure, I got to skip some of the slowburn of s1, but I still had to suffer through the Sarapocalypse and the angst fest that was s3. But that was AMAZING. It was a miracle. I got to watch these two unfold on my screen, week after week, and enjoy that journey along with the rest of a quickly growing fandom. 

I got to stay up late at night voting in way too many polls (we all know the Super Bowl of ship voting was the MTV Ship of the Year... two years in a row, baby!). I got to scream with everyone over the 3x20 promo. I got to watch all these SDCC moments happen alongside fandom. I got to go to HVFF and meet OTA (among others) in person. I got to meet fandom friends whom I know I will have in my life long after Arrow is over. 

There are no words to express what this journey has been like. I’ve gotten to witness Olicity hit all the milestones. The first hug, the first ‘i love you’, the first kiss, the first sex, the proposal(s), the break ups, the reunions, the wedding and now the first pregnancy... just... WOW. 

Do you all know what a gift that is? 

That’s what this has been. A gift. Watching this show, watching this ship grow, watching Felicity Smoak take over the friggin’ world... it’s all been a beautiful gift and I wouldn’t change a thing about it. 

We’ve got 18 episodes left, fam. Just 18 more opportunities to watch this story unfold before our eyes. It’s going to be a bit maudlin, as we all try to cling to these last moments we have with our faves. But it’s also going to be special. Because I’ve never actually gone through this with a fandom before. This is new and exciting and awful and wonderful all at the same time.

To my shame, I'm a Katie Cassidy fan who used to relentlessly criticize Felicity Smoak, Emily Bett Rickards, and the Olicity fandom. To compensate for this, I would now like to allow Olicity fans a chance to humiliate me. Yes, I am serious and not joking. Olicity fans, this is your chance to pay back a Katie Cassidy fan. What should be my punishment?

Official Goodbye

I’ve been pretty absent for a good year, year and a half. Much of it is due to life getting in the way, personal issues, new job(s), new city, new responsibilities. But I’m also finding it increasingly difficult to enjoy watching Arrow when I find myself hating almost every character/writing decision. I don’t feel passionate about wanting to write a blog post defending the writing choices, or calling out the writing choices, or trying to find another blog post justifying/explaining my thoughts. And even though I may not agree with the majority of bloggers about certain characters/plots, I honestly don’t feel like writing my thoughts down anymore. It just doesn’t interest me as much. I’ve gotten tried of relying on everyone else’s analyses about why certain writing choices will pay off in the future, or me trying to make sense of it all because I don’t really see it happening anymore. 

(Side note: Really fucking tired of seeing Smoak Technologies brought up as a convenient appetizer for Felicity fans, but when Felicity needs a major arc this season suddenly Smoak Tech has disappeared. Smh.)

Anyway, the one thing I miss the most is interacting with all of you. I hate that I’ve been absent and haven’t interacted with other bloggers, but I’ve been drifting apart from this fandom for a long time now. I’m not sure if it’s because I was relying on likes and reblogs to make me feel better, or because I had created a set of expectations and it upset me when I didn’t meet those. Or maybe I’ve just gotten older, and the way I blog is more like me periodically writing my thoughts down then disappearing. 

So that being said, I think it’s time to officially say goodbye to the Arrow/Olicity fandom. 

It’s been a wild ride -- I started watching Arrow after S2 mid season finale because everyone on my dash was freaking out about THE Olicity hug, and I binged on Arrow by downloading episodes on kickass (RIP). Not long after I created this blog and rest is kinda history. 

I’ve had some spectacular shipper fights, hilarious conversations with other bloggers, said some pretty stupid shit, started shit, and apologized for said shit. Most of my college experience can be summed up to vigorously voting for Olicity in online polls while I completely ignored my own studying/homework (not that I mind), or staying up all night reblogging the hell out of the Olicity tag. I’ve written fics and seen my writing improve a lot. I’ve met some amazing people on this site and conversely there are some wish I hadn’t (yes, I’m still petty). I finished my first multi-chapter fic in years for Olicity, which is huge considering I rarely finish my stories.

I attended Walker Stalker Con (my first con EVER!) and got to meet real, online fandom friends -- something I was ashamed of admitting to be honest. I thought it was too nerdy to find a group of misfits who love the same thing as you do. I think there was a part of me that didn’t believe it was possible to find hundreds of other people who were as passionate about a show as I was. For the first time in my life, it made me feel welcomed. 

I was home.

The Olicity/Arrow fandom was the *first* fandom experience I ever had and I’ll never forget it. I’ll never forget the ILY at the end of S2 and seeing everyone freaking out, having Olicity kiss in canon in S3, and having them (literally) drive off into the sunset. Remember the polls, the antis, everyone telling us we were impossible? That we’re stupid fangirls/guys wanting stupid things? Look how far we’ve come!

But eventually, coming home also means leaving it, and now is the time to do so. I’ve outgrown this show and this fandom, and maybe even Olicity (ugh that pains me). I’ve gone multiple episodes not watching Arrow and I don’t realize I’ve missed it until I see it on other social media sites. I didn’t even watch the S6 finale. I’ve just kind of drifted away, unfortunately.

So... I guess this is goodbye. Thank you for the laughs, the friendships, for dealing with my crazy self and crazy posts. Thank you for showing me what it means to be in a fandom. Y’all were/are so supportive of one another and I couldn’t have asked for a better fandom to get started in.

POLL: Olicity Fandom’s Top Arrow Episodes

Hey everyone! As we come up to the last episode of Arrow, we’re trying to figure out WHAT ARE THE DEFINITIVE FAVORITE EPISODES of Arrow/Olicity fandom?

The results of this poll will be used to determine the next couple months’ Coordinated Episode Rewatch schedule on the Olicity Discord server (want to know more about this and join in? READ MORE HERE and HERE).

Because here’s the thing...we hold WEEKLY coordinated group rewatches (learn more here), and while we usually watch episodes in chronological order (while skipping universally disliked episodes 😉), we’re currently at episode 4x16 (”Broken Hearts”) and we just reeeeally didn’t feel in the mood to watch that this week, or the rest of season 4, going into season 5. These next couple months are going to be heartbreaking enough.

INSTEAD, over the next couple months we will be doing something different to commemorate the ending of Arrow: we’re going to be watching the fandom’s TOP FAVORITE ARROW EPISODES (as voted on by you in this poll).

To create this poll, I asked the Olicity Discord members to list their top 20 Arrow episodes of all time. (IT WAS VERY PAINFUL AND WE ALL KIND OF DIED A LITTLE). Afterward, I tallied the results and came up with 26 top episodes, which are the choices presented in this poll. Today on the WA-fans-are-snakes twitter edition: An olicity fan was DM-ing with this WA fan she thought was her friend and jokingly asked her for help about an online poll since OF made it to the finals. Keep in mind that OF beat the fandom that beat WA. The WA fan tweeted that OF now NEEDS their help, exposed her 'friend' by SS-ing their DM & cut out the part where they joked about the price. Pathetic and mean is their brand. The more they provoke the olicity fandom, the more hateful they seem

Wish I could have seen it in real time. I think everyone knows not to mess with Olicitors. They outweigh any of their competition if you wanna call WA that, mostly they just ignore and mock with the shit load of material against WA.

Congrats to the Olicity fandom! Once again, we prove that when the chips are down and our opponents go low, we go HIGH. And we win like the winners we are. I wish our a few of our competitors hadn’t chosen to resort to name calling and nastiness, but it did mobilize us to vote and win. Nothing against the other ship... I have zero problem with any ship out there. But if a fandom is gonna act nasty, well... they reap what they sow. 

Congrats also to the ship we’ll be against in the final two. I doubt we’ll win 😂, they’ve been posting some amazing numbers. But from what I’ve seen, that fandom is full of lovely people who are good natured and good sports, on top of it all. So if we lose to them? I’m more than okay with it. 

We put up a good fight and we’re the Top US TV Couple (and the top DCTV couple, the top CW couple, the top Arrowverse couple, etc) and that’s not bad, is it? 😉

The blorks are so obviously cheating and it's actually hilarious because after 4 years of never making it past the first round, they've gotten so desperate that they're on some Olicity type level of cheating remember how they bought the tumblr bot to win the SOTY poll LMFAO Blorks gave themselves away because literally everyone know they could never actually get more votes than every ship, every ship in that poll, it just wouldn't happen without them cheating lol They're not even a "couple" LMAO

I mean those numbers for that fandom doesn’t add up. Let’s be real. It is suspicious but we have to keep voting Clexa Anon. Nothing we can do but push each other to vote as much as we can.

About the Poll, I don't think there are any bots involved. But some of the Olicity fandom is actively voting for Hileon and viceversa. I saw some really homophobic posts about not letting a gay couple win over at Facebook. So, no bots, just really nasty people. I don't really care abut the poll anymore, not winning it the last two years hasn't made one bit of a difference to Malec's popularity. They are going strong, and season 3 is going to be spectacular.
