finally picked up a book for the first time since year 7 thanks to my favourite writer on here and oh. my. god.

why the hell have i been waiting so long to enjoy the sweet sapphic thoughts of one miss lucy nolan? this book has changed my life forever and im not only on chapter 9, and yes it is now my entire personality. so what?

Thinking about the time I decided to watch the Link Click chibi-style shorts to distract myself from a song stuck in my head, and the plot of the first episode was the main characters also having that song stuck in their heads

Li Sushang: It’s been a while, Susannah. How are things? Susannah: Y-You remember my name! I’m so happy I could cry! I never thought I’d see you here! Susannah: (It’s Sushang-sama in person! And we’re so close!) Li Sushang: That… would be hard to forget. We’ve met many times in Kolosten. Susannah: Sorry for the trouble… Susannah: (Sushang-sama is beautiful. I used to be too embarrassed to look her in the eye…) Li Sushang: Well, what’s past is past.. Don’t be formal with me, just call me Sushang. Susannah: How can I do that? You’re Schicksal’s S-rank Valkyrie and a model we all look up to! Susannah supposed that made the most sense...it was the easiest, most believable fib he could give to his parents, especially considering how enamored they were with the idea of their boy finally settling down. She was sure they'd have all sorts of questions about her "family" and the time he spent with them when he returned, but she had faith he'd be able to come up with a good cover story for the both of them.

"I...I do wish you were meeting my family," she found herself saying aloud before she could stop herself, as she continued to gaze out the window: She didn't have much of it, granted, but she still wished he could've met them nonetheless, particularly her father's side of the family.

"I...I wish you could've met my father," she lamented quietly, as the familiar New Orleans surroundings began to fade away as the sun continued its ascent into the sky. "He...he would've loved you, I think...he'd have admired your...compassion, your good heart, your grace...I think you two would've gotten along very well.

I'm sure my ma would've liked you too...I-I don't remember her much, but...I imagine she woulda liked you a lot. She probably woulda welcomed you into the family with open arms."

"Y-Yes," Susannah managed to bring herself to say, hoping she wasn't coming off as too suspicious with her lack of quickness in speaking; her mouth trying desperately to keep up with her racing mind and pounding heart. "I, uh, I'm her...younger cousin. W-We haven't seen each other in a-a little while, b-but when she invited me to the party, o-of course I said yes!"

As for her dress, she fidgeted for a long moment, toying with the skirts before she answered, "I-It's, uh...i-it's custom! I...I know someone out in Mississippi that makes b-beautiful custom dresses, s-so I, uh...I commissioned her before I came here."

She couldn't decide what was more surreal: The fact that she was sitting here making pleasant conversation with the de Clairs, who remained blissfully unaware of who she really was and how she really knew their boy, or the fact that she was talking about herself as if she were a separate entity altogether! It was enough to make her head spin, and she was grateful for the glass of water a passing maid put down on the table-it was much-needed in the moment.

As she drank and smiled and continued to try to ease herself into the cheerful conversation, she couldn't help but glance Philippe's way, watching his eyes, his face: He was quick to make a cover story for her (which she appreciated), but just how long could they keep this ruse up? Would it just be for the night...

...or would this be a strange chance for them to be together?
