Shopkeep Pt. 1

The Shopkeep, also known as Dealer, Broker and Items guy (by players), is from an apocalypse shooter game called Crash Clear-up that was produced in the mid to late 80’s before production stopped. Crash Clear-up had an upgrade/power up mechanic where the player can buy items of interest (enhanced bullets, larger ammo capacity, health, temporary speed boosters, etc) sold by Shopkeep at different increments/levels of the game that could be passed if the player didn't want anything. The player would be able to buy these items off of Shopkeep through points/currency automatically picked up from enemies based on how well you shot/did. The worse you did the less points you would get meaning the less you could buy, if you did extra bad and still got to Shopkeep you wouldn't be able to buy anything.

Crash Clear-up was plugged in at Litwak’s a couple of years after Turbotime was. Shopkeep would quickly start to sell wares and trade with the rest of the arcade and collect favors from those who had nothing to pay/trade with. He would meet Turbo this way by (turbo’s account) hassling him into buying something in which he found out that Shopkeep sells cigarettes which no one else did.

They would grow closer as turbo would buy cigarettes/cigars from shopkeep and tell (brag) him about Turbotime and all of his wins. Shopkeep would also grow close to the twins from their repeat returns to get different items off of him. It got to a point that during after hours shopkeep would reserve a time to go to Turbotime specifically. Other citizens of the arcade would search for Shopkeep to retrieve Turbo from tappers if he was getting too rowdy or drunk. There were very few in the arcade that Shopkeep would call a friend and the racers of Turbotime were some of the privileged few that got that title, with Turbo being at the top of that list.

Times that neither Turbo or Shopkeep would talk about were when Turbo went to Shopkeep's home or vice versa. Times that the other would spend the night and relax behind the closed doors or fall asleep next to the other and leave before the arcade opened. Those closer to the two could see the bond between them that would tiptoe the line of romantic that neither would actually jump while still being their own form of intimate.

When RoadBlasters was plugged in and the attention moved from Turbotime, Shopkeep would spend more time with the trio of racers. He would attempt to comfort Turbo and calm down the racer, even to go as far as to deny services to RoadBlasters. Even as Turbo was reaching a peak, Shopkeep still tried to stay around Turbo or the twins regardless of changes in behavior. One day before opening hours he would promise Turbo and the twins a pack of fresh cigars and a pick from his whole catalog free of charge with the intent to spend the whole of after hours at Turbotime. It was during open hours that from across both Turbotime and RoadBlasters he saw the players react and hear Turbo from the wrong game. He watched the two games get unplugged so quickly, he worriedthe entire time until closing hoping that they got out. The moment that closing was announced Shopkeep was out of his game and searching all of Game Central Station. He would search for a week straight before slowing down and coming to the heartbreaking conclusion that none of the Turbotime racers were able to escape in time.

Made worse by the demonization of Turbo's name and everyone forgetting the twins, Shopkeep became more reserved. Still going around and selling with much more reluctance or raising the prices straight or denying service to those that spoke too much of “going Turbo”. Shopkeep wouldn't form any more close relationships beyond that of a professional buyer and seller. During the early years of the fatefully unplugging he was held in suspicion for how close he was with Turbo. The suspicion would slowly fade but never quite disappear. Shopkeep would always carry around a pack of cigars that he'd never sell to anyone and a pack of cigarettes were always in his pocket though no one ever saw him actually smoke them. He would start to wear two blue ribbons around his wrist like a bracelet under his sleeve after people started to stare. Anything that Turbo and the twins had given him that wasn't on Shopkeep was saved and locked into a chest.

Happy 10th Anniversary to 🐶Spot Speedster

🐰🖌Maxwell: As of today after we did for Riya Speedster though, It’s time for her twin brother 🐶Spot Speedster takes his turn when he’s turning 10 years old! Here’s to you pal as of part in our friendship circle since we met; alongside with your family and other friends. Hoping you’ll gonna like this artwork that our A-Pal made, though hoping it will be lucky enough since he managed to get this done in few days ago.

🐰👊💥May: Guess it was good enough for us while getting our owned speedster brother’s clothes. That’s right, Spot! Now you seeing us owing our clothes from yours to keep just like we did for Riya Speedster while celebrating her 8th birthday. It fits perfect for us when we get to used our turbo sneakers for jogging in the park. Just hoping not to fast because there’s gonna be accidents while we’re running; just in case. 😅

🦊⚽️Sam: And hoping it’ll be comfortable wears for our feet as well. As of wearing our owned clothes though, they fit well just like we did for Riya Speedster’s clothes to keep as well. Anyways, here’s to you pal when we’re celebrating your 10th Anniversary celebration in time!
