Systems and normal people: We support trauma survivors
"Endogenic" systems and their supporters: Even if we romanticize being a system, steal resources from actually disabled people while claiming to have the same disorders as them and then becoming the biggest hypocrites ever by claiming to not have these same disorders moments later while still stealing their resources and terms?
Systems and normal people: What. What, no, that's like really ableist- also why are you encouraging people to not heal from their trauma by denying it's there and feeding into their denial, which is a huge part of the complicated disorders we're dealing with?!!
"Endogenic" systems and their supporters: OH. OH WE SEE HOW IT IS. SO YOU DON'T SUPPORT TRAUMA SURVIVORS. AND YOU'RE BEING ABLEIST TOWARDS US BECAUSE WE'RE DIFFERENT!!!!
#my guyyyy pretend you're plural and make imaginary friends and roleplay as them all you want#MAKE SHIT UP ALL YOU WANT#BUT DON'T TELL VULNERABLE PEOPLE THAT UR MADE UP BULL IS REAL#AND AT THE VERY LEAST IF UR GONNA CLAIM TO NOT HAVE A DISORDER#*DON'T USE TERMS AND TOOLS FOR PEOPLE WITH THAT DISORDER????*#Don't use simply plural don't use pluralkit those are for *plural* people with CDDs#even though pluralkit supports endo systems I think?????#They're still for *systems* and if you're not disordered you're not entitled to that term#so make your own term and find other resources#If you don't have a CDD don't call them alters or headmates or parts#Find something ELSE to call them#Either you have a disorder#(IN WHICH CASE YOU SHOULD AT LEAST CONSIDER THE POSSIBILITY THAT YOU HAVE TRAUMA)#(BECAUSE I GENUINELY WANT THE BEST FOR YOU AND HEALING FROM ANY TRAUMA YOU MAY HAVE WOULD BE GOOD)#OR you're not entitled to our terms and you're ableist for using them!#PICK! This reminds me of a video I watched back when this was in its trial phase, and how one of the things mentioned why this was a bad idea was basically the WHY blocking ads is an important right to defend. Thing is, websites are absolutely dogshit about vetting advertisers - they kind of just spray them at a web page like it's a fire hose and the onus is on the user to sort through the shit, report the ads that are violating their own website TOS or report the stuff that is CLEARLY a scam. This is why even the FBI recommends everyone use an adblock.
What happens when you, using the website are exposed to an ad that is actually a scam but you don't realise it? What happens when because of that ad you end up losing all your money from that scam? Nothing. You're the blamed party here because you simply weren't 'smart enough' or 'informed enough' to be able to pick up on that - and with the escalating sophistication of cyber crime spoofing legitimate websites and apps to the point it's near impossible to tell, this is incredibly unfair (not to mention ableist towards those with intellectual disabilities - what they just shouldn't use the internet now because they might be easier to fool with an ad??) Why is this allowed to happen? Because we don't have laws holding the website owners accountable to what we get exposed to (at least on terms of advertising), so they have barely any content control in place. All they're focused on is the money.
It is driving me absolutely insane that we are all seriously talking about putting in place laws that may hold social media websites accountable for the content their users post (which is both good and bad for many reasons but that's a whole other thing) yet we just let them get away with shoving extremely low quality advertising that could literally be scams down our throats. And then Google coming out here saying they're ENTITLED to show you that dogshit advertising that might financially ruin you, otherwise you can't use their website?
Hell fucking no. You keep using adblock until they decide to put on their big girl pants and actually bother to put in some quality control guard rails. Better yet, lobby your politicians about this bullshit. If they are so committed to pushing that websites should be held accountable for the content they host, right down to managing the user base - then the advertising on those websites should abso-fuckin-loutly apply to this as well. You can't just BLAME THE USER for getting scammed by content that they literally have no control over. Because who thought it was okay to put that in front of you in the first place? Who let that happen? Who didn't put your safety first, in favour of money?
Anyway, fuck google, use Firefox and adblockers. (Also this is my PSA that Firefox mobile allows you to use extensions INCLUDING AD BLOCKERS).
Also here's the excellent video I watched breaking this down and making me aware of how the FBI even recommends adblockers by Galaxius (honestly it's insane how he predicted this down to a T and this was while it was still in the trial phase. No the irony that this is also a YouTube video is not lost on me)
is google insane or did it forget about the legal right to ablocking lol. are they trying to challenge the EU? bc they're not going to win that one. europe doesnt think this shit is cute
ive been flicking settings and programs on and off and updating drivers and shit trying to get youtube to load faster but it's being artificially throttled by google bc im using firefox
like. did they forget what antitrust suits are

i need to talk more about this because i hate americans so fucking much they're all entitled assholes WHO NEED TO LEARN TO LISTEN
spaz is derived from the word spastic, or spastic cerebral palsy, and is a derogatory slur used to describe disabled people, most commonly those with cerebral palsy. it is used most commonly in two forms - as the noun, you can call someone a spaz, which is derogatory, or as the verb, you can say someone is 'spazzing out', to refer to them doing something wild, crazy or out of their control. both contexts of the word spaz are derogatory in all english vernaculars.
i do not give a fuck if spaz is a common word in aave. i couldn't give less of a fuck, primarily because it was not your word to take and try to change. i do not care that it's used most commonly as the verb in aave - it is still offensive and ableist to continue to use it. in fact, it is used in the exact same way in the UK, and guess what? it's still a deeply offensive slur because it means the exact same thing - we have just come to recognise it as a slur, meanwhile americans largely have not. it still stems from the humiliation of disabled people, both the noun and the verb, both as a part of and not a part of aave.
it is not at all comparable to fag. not in the slightest. fag, as most people know it, is a derogatory slur used mostly to describe a gay man. in the UK, it is also slang for cigarette. when used in that context, like asking for a fag, or saying you're having a fag, offends nobody, because everyone understands the context of that word, and it's context changes it's meaning. using fag as slang for cigarette is not an equivalent excuse to continue to use the word spaz in any non-informational context.
there are many words in many other languages that sound offensive in ours that mean completely innocuous things. stop trying to justify your ableism by saying that it's a part of your vernacular, or that is popular in your vernacular. that's not an excuse. it's still offensive, it still stems from the humiliation of disabled people, and aave is not some untouchable vernacular that is above being criticised because it can and will be. that term is offensive, cut it out of your vocabulary, find a new fucking word, because it was not for your community to take.
i understand that for many americans, they are largely unaware that it's a slur, and i understand. some people call it ignorance, but you can't ignore information that you were never presented with in the first place. but when you learn that it's a slur, don't try to defend it. it's still offensive to many disabled people and saying that it's 'different when african american people use it', or 'we use it differently to how it's used in the UK' (which you don't, btw) is just completely false because it isn't. it's not an aave exclusive term, and neither is their definition of it. that's not an excuse for the large levels of antiblackness i've seen surrounding the discourse about this term, but it's the truth. black or not, if you're not disabled, you do not own this term and you do not get to dictate how it is used, because it is offensive in all contexts, and by all definitions. aave is not a 'lesser english' by any means, and i want to make that firmly clear. it is often a vernacular that is needlessly insulted and misrepresented, and those that use it are largely equated with unintelligence, even though there's no correlation between those two things. but to say that the prevalence of spaz in aave is an excuse to continue using it or to diminish the voices of disabled people who are trying to tell users that they need to stop using it is a joke.
fun fact 'spaz' is a slur and there's no excuse for your use of it

First of all, I'm so sorry you're ableist. 'Stupid' is also now technically a slur, so maybe consider that next time before criticising me over reclaiming one. And so is the word 'bitch', which I only just noticed you called either me or the other person who criticized you (or both of us) in your tag.
Secondly, as a queer person, I am fully entitled to reclaim the word 'queer' as so many have done before me, and you have no right to tell me that I can't.
If an individual asks me not to call them queer, specifically, I will not. But 'queer' is quickly becoming the preferred term for a sizeable portion of the community, and I will call it the 'queer community' because I am one of those. If you prefer to call it the LGBTQ+ community, go for it, but respect the fact that many of us are reclaiming the term 'queer' and have been doing so for a long time, as is our right.
Maybe if you made a habit of engaging politely, inclusively and respectfully with more demographics within the queer community, instead of ostracizing entire groups like the actual queerphobic cishets do, you wouldn't feel the need to behave in this unpleasant exclusionary and rude manner, and we could all support each other properly.
:)
“We chose the term “asexual” to describe ourselves because both “celibate” and “anti-sexual” have connotations we wished to avoid: the first implies that one has sacrificed sexuality for some higher good, the second that sexuality is degrading or somehow inherently bad. “Asexual”, as we use it, does not mean “without sex” but “relating sexually to no one”. This does not, of course, exclude masturbation but implies that if one has sexual feelings they do not require another person for their expression. Asexuality is, simply, self-contained sexuality.”
— The Asexual Manifesto, Lisa Orlando and Barbara Getz, 1972
