the way bg!ghost would see you getting anxious at the sight of his team. he might be the most biggest but his team certainly do not lack their own respective height and muscles 😮‍💨🫶

his first thought would be to immediately calm you down, he knows they all can look incredibly intimidating together

"s'ok, they're with me alright?" ghost's voice is gentle, soothing as he speaks to you

he needs a clear word to see how you are and where your head is at and when you start to warm up to the team, he's right behind you

soap, gaz and price are dressed in formal wear just like ghost, their muscles all but bulging and straining against their shirts.

a range of weapons are strapped to their waist, hidden discreetly under their blazers

each of them donning a pair of sunglasses, standing tall in their stance

you can feel ghost's hand touch the small of your back and usually under any other condition, you would've taken the time to appreciate how good it felt against you

but a set of three different eyes analyses your every movement, your breath held as you await the criticisms but there is none

to your surprise all three men crack a small smile, each one different yet almost tender in their own ways

"easy sweetheart, we're just here to help" gaz's voice is gentle, calm, trustworthy.

"yeah, you won't even know we're here hen" soap is next, removing his sunglasses as he takes a cheeky smile at you

"you'll be safe with us, we're here for your protection" price's voice is soothing, his deep voice echoing pleasantly in your ears as you take in all three men carefully

and once you get acquainted with them, you get along with all three fairly quickly

cue ghost getting jealous when you start going to them instead of him :(

but they're seriously intimidating, sometimes without even trying

whenever a supporter wanted a picture or an autograph, all four men were stiff and rigid around you. like four impenetrable walls, caging you inside safe and soundly

it was a nightmare to even use the bathroom alone

whenever someone calls your name, all four men snapping their heads so worryingly fast you'd fear they get whiplash with the way they turned

if paparazzi was harassing you, they'd just need one collective look from the 141 to back off immediately

the dominance each man exudes is different and dependant yet potent, you can tell they don't mess around with their job and the tasks they've been assigned <3

also when someone attempted to try and throw something at you, resulting in said object hitting ghost's broad chest and bouncing off to the floor in front of his feet. the man barely flinching through it all as he looked back up to the person who threw it.

ghost's eyes burning behind his balaclava, taking an intimidating step forwards

soap and gaz immediately grabbing the man by his arms, barely using any of their strength to restrain

"now you've gone and done it, huh" price chuckles but it's not the one you're accustomed to. no, this one was was sharp and cold. this meant business

and for all their hard work you, of course, spoil them. which also turns soap and gaz into little children opening presents when you get them something they had been dying for, pouncing on you for a hug

price chuckling and telling you that you didn't need to do this but you obviously bought something for him too. his heart melting as he looks back and forth from his present and then to you. bringing you in for a gentle hug and a forehead kiss

ghost watching with a roll of an eye but a hint of a chuckle, his eyes on you the whole time. though he thinks he's being neutral, you note how his pupils dilate when he's by you

for a look that's only reserved for you only, "that's my girl"

Most Popular*** Descendants Ships

I love me some statistics so I did some number crunching so I could add an update to OP's July post for 12/22/2024 :D My apologies in advance for the wack-ass colors. I'm a statistician, not a graphic designer.

*** "Most Popular" is a label that's difficult to claim for data collection reasons. More on that below.

Total fics at time of study: 9421

Anyway, no changes too drastic from OP's July data except for the notable rise in the Chloe/Red pairing (for obvi reasons).

*I did not include any platonic ships in the charts, but they were in the top relationships. I also did not filter them out in my searches so as not to confound the results by filtering out side friendships also tagged. 

For anyone who isn't familiar with the ao3 filter system, filtering out a ship will remove all fics with that ship--including something tagged in the background. For example, say you've got a Harry/Uma fic that also tags Ben/Mal in the background though they're not the focus of the story. By filtering out Ben/Mal, that fic gets taken out too.

Now, with this in mind, I also ran the same numbers minus Ben/Mal, just to see how the rankings shifted.

Total fics at time of study: 7817

As you can see, excluding Ben/Mal doesn't just affect Ben/Mal, but also changes the proportion for other pairings that often include/tag Ben/Mal in their fics and vice versa.

The side pairings filter process I explained above is my guess as to why Doug/Evie is 5 overall but drops down to 8th place (with Ben/Mal as the invisible #1 in the second chart) and Jane/Carlos disappears entirely from the top contenders: because they're often tagged as a background pairing for Ben/Mal. Certain ships that move together will always be most heavily affected by my taking out their "anchor." When I removed Evie/Mal AND Ben/Mal, Jay/Carlos dropped significantly too because it's often paired with Evie/Mal.

With this ALSO in mind (and if I haven't bored you already), I pulled the data on fics with only one pairing tagged for the fic.

Total fics at time of study: 3767

When I looked at the fics with only one relationship listed, these were the results. Yet I have another caveat--this also does not reflect the true number of fics centered on these pairings, because there are plenty of fics that center on one of the pairings from the original list but also list side pairings that won't be reflected here. 

Once again, I'll emphasize that Ben/Mal, Doug/Evie, and Jane/Carlos are more likely to be listed together, as are Evie/Mal and Jay/Carlos, so they will be disadvantaged here. Chloe/Red will be disproportionately high in this chart because (as I understand it) there aren't many prominent side pairings from the new franchise compared to the originals (though someone who has seen the new series or involved in the fandom is welcome to contradict me, I really know next to nothing about it). 

So what's the most popular ship then???

The (perhaps disappointing) answer is there's no way of knowing the true proportion of fics dedicated to which pairing, since pulling that data would require reading every fic (or at the very least, its summary) to ascertain which pairing it centers on and, guys, I have a real job and this is for funsies.

Shadowalkers Au

Ok so I said I was gonna make this so here we go...

(I literally came up with this idea in the subway help) (I'm going to assume y'all have watched the movie)

Basically: Lmk cast in Wolfwalkers.

BUT

There is a little bit of different lore here

For starters, they're not wolves anymore. (it just didn't really make sense to me to make them into a different animal especially since both celestial primates can do the 72 transformations like it's no biggie) They're more like the enormous f*ck you smoke monster that Macaque introduced in his first episode. So you're a person when you're awake and a shadow when you're asleep.

Macaque takes the role of Mammy here and Bai He the role of Mebh Xiaotian plays Robyn and Wukong as Goodfellowe, ok? ok.

Bai He gets to be a little gremlin, Mk is big brother, Wukong is Good Dad TM and while not in here as much, Mac is also Good Dad TM

Now Mk and Wukong are regular stone monkeys from a far away mountain (SWK doesn't have all his OP taoist superpowers here). Their old home was burned down and they were forced to move. Wukong was already serving as a disciple under master Tripitaka when he took in a baby MK as his own. Tripitaka sadly perished in the fire.

The new town they move to is called the Diyu ruled under the 10th king in a long line of monarchs (why the background seemed so dark and a bit sinister in the last pic). Wukong serves as a hunter to get rid of all the shadow creatures in the nearby woods who seem to have a mind of their own.

But why get rid of them? Well you know how in the mythos, the Diyu was the land of the dead? Well in this au, Shadowalkers are known to be real but very rare and they have the power of healing and are said to be able to control the line between life and death. See what I'm getting at here?

Now because of Wukong's intense fear of death, and in this au he'd already been taught by the monk and now has a son of his own to worry about and without the layers of immortality to shield him, I figured, he'd be a lot more cautious and closer to Goodfellowe in this way. He'd still be more carefree and playful of course but he's still under the firm grip of the command of the king. (the circlet thingys on his gloves also signifies this)

The majority of the population here are humans since I wanted to single out Mk and SWK here and it just made sense so for the majority of the time, they wear cloaks so as to not frighten everyone.

Ok so about the abilities of the shadowalkers, oh boy,

One, they can heal. Two, they have their smoke monster like forms. Three, they can travel through shadows themselves and mare most powerful at night. When they travel in the shadows, they're flat like the surfaces they travel on. And like in the movie, a bite from a shadowalker can turn you into a shadowalker too.

Also concentrated light can hurt them. So for example a flame-tipped arrow can hurt them but not a small ray of sunlight.

Mk sneaks out after his dad one day (idk who could play the role of merlin here) and somehow finds Bai He and gets bitten in the woods. They bond and it's just an adorable thing yada yada.

At night, Mk finds out he's become a shadowalker and finds Bai He. She teaches him their ways and he returns home only to be found by the town who freak out. Wukong himself tries to impale him with his staff but fails. Mk is able to escape and make his way into the palace.

He finds a humongous smoke monster in a cage (aka macaque) and deduces that this must be Bai He's missing dad. But when he tries to free him, Mac tells him to get Bai He and leave cause it's to dangerous and Mk gets found by the king himself.

He wakes up in his person body and tells whoever plays Merlin to find Bai He and leave. She doesn't believe this and runs into town to find MK who's working and reluctantly does what she's told but feels betrayed.

Then she hears word that they were going to execute a giant shadow creature that the king had caught and runs to find it as she realized that they were talking about her dad.

She finds him all caged up and to stop her from getting hurt, Mk calls over to the village kids that he's caught the monster and they put her in a wooden cage (noo...the babies...)

Bai He breaks out anyways, runs to her dad and Wukong is told to catch the girl but Mac ain't having that no no no.

He goes from 0 to 100 and bites Wukong in the arm, giving Bai He the chance to escape but being locked up again in the process. Bai He declares war on the town and runs off.

We have the whole confrontation scene between MK and his dad and Mk frees Mac and they run off to escape. And FINALLY Macaque can reunite with his daughter (see I can be nice...)

...before getting impaled by Wukong's magic staff (nevermind)

Bai He flees with the shadow creatures and the dying spirit of her father while MK tries to follow after them with Wukong holding him back. Mk falls asleep and transforms in front of his dad before the army caught up.

We have the whole climax battle between the imperial forces of the Diyu and the shadows + WUKONG GETS TO TRANSFORM INTO HIS 3 HEADED KAIJU WAR FORM HERE WOOOOOOOOOOOOO

(if you couldn't tell, I have a soft spot for this gremlin)

Then we have my personal favourite scene where the kids heal Macaque and HE'S ALIVE AGAIN YAY

They welcome Wukong into their troupe and FINALLY are able to leave and find their new home...

⇝ In reference to my shifter and monster characters: I have a few of these guys. I like were-creatures. In my canon, shifters (even in their animal form) are fully capable of both asserting consent and passing the harkness test. If fucking a bear/boar/whatever isn't your thing, that's cool! But know that the monster is 100% down if your character shows interest.

ok. Toronto Comic Con is pretttty much around the Corner so it's time for me to start advertising my con schedule for the year and encouraging y'all to come see me!

Toronto Comic Con is the first one, which is happening in March.

I plan to be in cosplay all weekend, if any of y'all can actually come and want to cosplay with me just lmk and we can work it out. Also let me know if you're attending regardless so we can meet up!

The only other event I can garuentee at this point in time is FanExpo Canada in August. What I cannot garuentee is that I will be attending this event as a guest. It is highly likely I will be working with Epic Photos in the photo-op area. But I will likely have a couple free hours Sunday morning if anyone can come say hi

Tonight I'm going to try to convince my mother to let me attend New York Comic Con, which is in October.

The guest list is already insane compared to the tiny conventions I'm used to up here, and it looks like they'll try and get Jeff to come cause they have Lauren and Željko. Norman, Melissa, and Seth are also attending. And Scott Gimple, he's there too. There are also a few other people that I didn't recognize that might just be writers, but they're with the twd universe and I'm happy to take what I can get.

idk if you still need this but I'm going to try to explain since somebody somewhere might! and I think I navigate it pretty well.

look at this picture, ang please ignore the anine eyes that's to blot out stuff I don't want to show. it looks like you op already understand how to make new members so ill just say to click the button with the + next to a silhouetted figure (sorta like +👤 if that imagery helps.)

first I'll explain fronting. just click the lines with an arrow near the bottom, and you should see three option.

from top to bottom, add to front (useful if someone else is already at front and you want to ad a cofronting or coconcious member), set as front (useful if you need to set only 1 alter to front, if you set as front while another alter is set as front, it will override the previous fronter and kick them off front so always use add to front for cofronting), and no action (essentially click this to put the menu down).

to use the add to front or set as front buttons, click them and they should have a ring around them, the menu will close once you do this. then find the alter you want to set/add as fronting, and click the plus/arrow button next to them.

to add a front entry, click the three lines at the very top, opposite of the magnifying glass symbol. it should take you here:

on this menu here, click the add front entry button. that will show a pop up with 2 options, again from top to bottom: add detailed front entry, add quick front entry.

on add detailed front entry, you can click specific times and dates for the start and end. they don't actually have to be exact times, usually i only use this if it was written down when the previous fronter switched in (so never lmao). these are best for longer time spans, that quick front entries dont cover. there's a button at the bottom with a shillouette of a person and a magnifying class, use that to pick the akter that was fronting for this entry

quick front entries are a bit more simple. the button to pick the fronting alter is at the top this time, and underneath are 2 sections. the first is how long ago did it end, which has options to click ranging from 2 minutes to 2 hours. click whichever is most accurate. the second section is how long did the front last, with the same options. click whichever is most accurate. you docliactually have to be exact even if it feels that way, you're just trying to get the general gist of it.

thats on fronting stuff more or less, there's more but my phone acts weird if I write long posts sooo that's where I'll leave it off. lmk if you need more help with anything!

Does anyone have tips on how to easily navigate Simply Plural? We’ve had it for months and only use it to keep track of alters and our info because we’ve never been able to figure out the rest of it.

We see systems talk about it all the time and want to be able to fully use it too!
