💌💋🎀
mun communication meme!!! / accepting.
💋 Are you silly ooc? Casual? Chatty? Do you prefer or enjoy things like small talk, when not rping?
I AM SO SILLY!!! IM A SILLY GOOSE!!!! i tend to be either an ENTHUSIASTIC MF CHATTERBOX or super sporadic depending on mood, but usually if my spoons are low i'll just respond less often! like. heres the thing about me. the more you bust down my door and squeal about random shit/threads/characters, the more i will feel comfortable doing with u :> i'm very adaptable and try to match vibes as much as i can unless im buzzing with excitement + it seems like my partner is shyer than me! then i'll bite at ur ankles until it seems like i'm bothering u and back off KSUDHKSDJSD tl;dr come here. be silly and chaotic with me. send me memes/fanart/insp quotes. cry with me. im here for it all truly
💌 Have you ever hit it off with a mun right away? What were they like? How fast do you think it takes to warm up to new people?
bro i have a LIST
@vsagis i specifically remember following you because i read your rules and they were so like. pleasing to read?? bc they reminded me so much of myself and how i talk that i was like shit i think im gonna vibe w this mun super hard. and then we started talking and yeah it was unavoidable, now we're friends, alex can't get rid of me
@sasouken i'm pretty sure we made a 1x1 server the same day we connected ajdhskfhsd bee is so sweeeet. that was the first thing that struck me about him!! i just felt immediately comfortable because he was so kind and our ideas for ship dynamics meshed SO well (freak MATCHED) ALSO THE WAY WE KEEP ACCIDENTALLY SLIPPING INTO THREADS DURING OOC CHATTER IS STILL . SO FUNNY TO ME OUR MUSES ARE JUST LIKE "BET"
@koseigu .... i feel like this is self explanatory for anyone who follows this blog. both of us were sitting there sO NERVOUS to follow the other because we were intimidated and then it turns out we were just the same person. i'm so comfortable just busting down tsari's door with the weirdest wackest shit at any hour of the day and that's so beautiful
as for the second question, it really doesn't take me long at all as long as we mesh well ooc! i tend to have an easier time with people who reach out to me in return & are more expressive over text if that makes sense? since i'm always trying to read/gauge tone while chatting online, matching my partner's energy. in particular, i try to match the frequency of reaching out and the typing style!!
🎀 What's the last nice thing you saw pertaining to rp?
OOH .... i saw an anon the other day jumping into a bunch of mutuals' inboxes and talking about how much they like writing with them, it was so fuckin sweet and made me miss the old days of rp when anons were more common and less used for hate (or at least used just as much for nice things!). anyone remember magic anons?? omfg

yeah timberclanner in fe here from what ive seen in threads only five people are active at all from the colony that aren't already members of timber
i think the mods need to actually like ask them about the way the plot is going because even for me to be honest its a bit of a slog playing as the place keeping a bunch of cats prisoner knowing they are innocent ooc and having no set time when this small group is gonna stop being treated poorly
the discussion of food was a bit of a one off and not really about denying them food but almost worse as its more of a "youre fed and housed what are you complaining about it could be worse" and considering how picky rps are with tagging youd think theyd want to tag a mindset plenty of people have experienced from their own parents
Hey anon,
Thank you for reaching out in such a pleasant manner, my friend! I definitely agree that mods should communicate with those directly affected! I know a lot of staff teams can get defensive over secrets and plots that they have going on.
But the thing is, that ultimately secrets are only part of the reason why people will stay in a roleplay group like this! If you know that in _ weeks this plot will wrap up, that is not an inherently bad thing to know since right now everything is all up in the air. That can be stressful and rp is, most importantly, supposed to be fun!
Thank you for the clarification for the food part, too! And, yeah, I do agree that with how usually I see trigger warnings for 18+ groups, I don't think it's unreasonable to let people know things like emotional physical and mental abuse will be heavily involved. Usually you can like, opt into that. But it seems that the colony kind of got shoved into a box (based on the xenophobia claims).
As clarification here, for people not in Forgotten Elegy, please read through and acknowledge that neither side has actually given me like concrete anything. It's kind of just he said, she said. Not that I don't believe these anons, but it is important to note!

OOC STUFF BEHIND CUT
HEY EVERYONE, I'm irl Sol, actual Sol behind the fictional Pokemon Sol. I follow back from @solitarelee which most of you probably figured out immediately given my name LMAO. So my activity page looks like this!
Tumblr media
Which I'm super pumped about actually. I didn't foresee any of this happening when I started the blog but I'm having a blast.
If anyone wants to OOC plot stuff to happen in "real pokeverse life" with me, my ask box and DMs are open (at least I think my DMs are open. if they're not right this second they're about to be). If you want something to be OOC discussion via ask box just let me know and be sure to send it off anon so I can answer privately. If we wind up doing a bunch of stuff together we could also trade Discords if necessary!
I'm gonna try to create like a list of all the members so I can keep them straight, but it might take me a second because I'm pretty busy irl. I'll also be trying to create a tagging system so people can tumblr savior or block certain RP threads if they feel like they're getting spammed to hell.
I created this blog as like a fun night time distraction on nights when I have to stay up, so it probably will never be super active during the day, at least not for while this semester is still going. If I don't reply right away it's definitely because I physically haven't seen it yet!
Thanks for all of your interest and for having fun playing in this sandbox with me!! I am living out my childhood pokemon rp dreams right now.

What would you consider is the most challenging aspect that comes with writing your character?
Tumblr media
unprompted asks 【always accepting】
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hi, anon!! First of all, sorry to have kept you waiting (rl has been getting in the way a bunch as of late on top of my usual slowness orz)!! And I also apologize bc this is gonna get Long, so I hope that's okay! There's also gonna be some inevitable salt in some parts, so I hope that's alright, too ;v;
There are some aspects I still find kinda difficult, even after the years I've been writing for this dork tbh. One of them is probably the fleshing out of all those sides Speedwagon's character has and that a big chunk of the fandom sometimes completely forgets about or even pretends they don't exist at all for a variety of reasons. Same with the fleshing out of PB as a whole, too, as it's directly connected to the character in different ways, and the many things we didn't get to see on screen but that we were told that actually happened (or didn't happen in some cases). Much like with many other jojo characters, people tend to reduce Speedwagon's entire character to One Trait, though in his case its usually a trait taken from wrong ideas they got from all those "haha kono dio da funni amirite" memes, which is why you often see him being labelled as the "uwu soft and pure ball of blushu blushu virginal sunshine boi who can do no wrong and will never do it either uwuwuwuw" by a lot of people even when Robert is a ruthless criminal from the worst part of London in canon, and taking his actual heart of gold and twisting it into "absolute and immaculate purity UWU". Basically, he gets woobified a shit ton by a big chunk of the fandom, with certain aspects of his personality getting twisted waaaaay beyond recognition sometimes or just entirely made up or taken completely out of context for a variety of reasons. All of this is one of the main reasons why I've always put a lot of effort into showcasing all those sides of his that we were shown and/or told about in canon. Showing all his traits, yeah, but also making sure to always show his many MANY flaws and those dark and sour sides there are to his character (many of which he retains even in his older years, with some of those traits/flaws most likely being 'passed down' to Joseph, i.e), since people tend to forget that not only Speedwagon comes from literally the same shady place as Dio, having lived there for twice as long than Dio did, no less, but people also forget that he was also some ruthless gangleader who hard-earned the respect of dozens of other criminals and violent thugs and who are now under his command, ready to kill whenever he orders them to.
With all this said, in general, the most challenging part I think would probably be keeping some kind of balance in all that and not overdo or leave out one or the other since all parts are just as important to his character and to that personality that we were given in canon, and keeping all those hideously ooc fanon takes as far away as possible. All this while also doing research as much as necessary on Victorian stuff like terms, speech, customs, gay culture, and everything else that plays a role in Speedwagon's character (as a fun fact: no kidding, I legit knew NOTHING about the Victorian era when I first got into JJBA, so it's thanks to this dork that I started digging into that era and learning everything I now know about it xd).
As far as the side muses go, I think Tattoo and Li are more challenging right now in the sense that I don't write them as often, so I'm still trying to get a better hang of their personalities overall, their flaws and traits and so on. As for Jonathan, I've written him in the past a bunch of times for both rps and fics, but I haven't fleshed him out "a lot" rp wise yet, so I always worry about getting him right and close to his canon since, just like Speedwagon's case, Jonathan gets woobified a fuck ton by the fandom, too, for a variety of reasons.
Pretty sure I rambled a lot, but I hope all this stuff made sense ;;;; And thank you so much for sending this in, anon! I love this type of asks (and p much all types of asks, too xd), so please keep them coming any time~ Hope you're having a wonderful day!! ♡♡

[ ooc: so I got swamped with work today (and also emotions, ew) but--
1) I hear there’s more anon hate and all that b.s. going around in some of my rp partners’ inboxes / circles and I’m not here for it. Feel free to unfollow and hard block me if you think that shit is okay. I don’t do drama (never had, but now I’m 1000% too old for it), and y’all can fuck right off.
2) I’ve found a bunch of old threads (like 2+ years old) by rpers that are still at least semi-active on this website and I’ve added them to my drafts. If the inspiration strikes, I’ll reply to them, but of course it’s been a long time so if you’re one of the people involved and you no longer want to continue, I’ll understand.
3) I have been murdered by feels so I’m going to respond to exactly ONE ask and then go to bed because I’m tired as hell. Hopefully tomorrow will be better all around.
Good night, friends, and please be kind to each other. We all need more gentleness than ever. ]

( Okay, real talk! I’m sorry about the constant OOC updates and no replies. Trust me, I’m in the process of getting back into the swing of things and hopefully very soon I’ll get the ball rolling. I just wanted to talk about something since I’ve seen it on the dash now and while it wasn’t directed towards me, it definitely upset me to see it happening to other people. We are all trying to have a good time and do our best. We are all trying to make our blogs a means of enjoying ourselves, whether that’s creating a bunch of characters, trying new things out and working with others. If someone wants to drop a thread, add or drop muses, change url, change blog, become a multi-muse, stay a single muse blog, only play/play against OC or Canon, leave Tumblr, take a break or hiatus, they should be allowed to do so without any guilt tripping or shaming.
We all have our preferences in terms of RP and that’s completely fine because it’s a personal thing and you’re allowed to be as selective as you like! I think that’s awesome and helps you find the right blogs to collaborate with. What none of us should be doing is making other people feel bad for these creative choices and how they run their blog(s). To actively go out of your way to say that you don’t like someone for doing what they enjoy, make unwanted remarks in order to make someone else guilty and to just generally be unkind to someone because any of things I listed is completely not alright. Especially on anon! We’re all adults and most of us are friends, this shouldn’t be happening. 99.9% of you guys are not like this and I’ve pretty much had an amazingly warm welcome, but I really hate seeing this happen to other people. I just wanted to put this out there because it didn’t feel right ignoring it, even if I can’t do much. )

so i know i can’t be the only person who’s noticed how fucked up and negative band rp feels right now. groups can’t stay open and people aren’t engaging as much as they used to on dashboards. characters are hardly talking outside of their friend groups and mods have to consistently remind people that they have to interact to keep the dashboard fun. i’m not sure if anyone else has noticed that this was hardly an issue when talk blogs weren’t as popular in the community. when people had a problem with other writers or an issue with mods they’d talk to each other about it or they’d just tell their friends and move on. they weren’t used to blasting each other anonymously on talk blogs, that wasn’t the first thing they thought about doing anytime something happened. now the knee jerk reaction is to run to a talk blog to talk shit ad nauseam.
i know talk blog mods feel like they’re doing band rp a service by giving writers a place to rant about their weird rp encounters and that was definitely true for some time but i think at this point they’re doing nothing but making band rp feel less like a community of writers enjoying their fun little hobby and more like an exhausting waste of time. if we’re not having fun then what are we really getting out of this? what are we doing here?
the fact of the matter is that talk blogs offer nothing to the community. they don’t function like rph blogs. you’re not really getting any sort of writing help from them. they’re not giving you face claim resources. they’re not offering you anything other than a place to talk shit which was harmless before but it’s not anymore. it’s really having a negative effect on how people interact with each other within this community. it’s limiting our options in terms of groups. talk blogs have literally caused countless groups to close, sometimes before they even had a chance to fully open. that’s not me exaggerating, it’s happened more than it should. i’ve had conversations with people about how they’ve been discouraged from modding because of the way people go after groups and mods on these talk blogs when something doesn’t go their way.
people are always talking about how they hate bullies and they’re more than willing to toss the word around when it comes to other writers in the community but they can’t see that by going to talk blogs specifically to talk shit about writers who aren’t really doing anything besides writing on the internet, they’re being bullies. talk blogs promote cyber bullying simply by existing as a forum for people to anonymously air their grievances, with or without proof. it’s promoting the ooc drama we’re all trying to avoid. it turns a little disagreement into a huge issue by involving a bunch of people who don’t have the full context of what happened. and most of the time the things brought up on talk blogs are so trivial. they’re things you could simply ignore because they’re not actually hurting anyone, it’s just something the anon finds annoying but then by bringing it to a talk blog it turns into a huge debate. it’s essentially just a bunch of he said/she said bullshit and it’s ruining the community. it’s literally creating the most toxic atmosphere i’ve ever seen in any rpc.
talk blogs, in my humble opinion, are part of the reason why band rp is in such a shitty state right now. they’re divisive and they encourage senseless negativity. it’s honestly hateful and writers are being actively discouraged by them. people are so worried about being blasted on talk blogs over nothing that they’re not running successful groups, their characters aren’t interacting with new people on the dashboard, it’s not as easy to get plots anymore with different writers because no one trusts each other. new groups pop up or old groups try and reopen and they immediately get shot down because someone sends a message to a talk blog speculating on whether or not they’re the same mods from some already dead game. what does it matter? really, what does it matter? they bring up one experience they had in a game that most likely wasn’t that big of a deal, but because they were upset about it they try and paint it as this huge problem that the group was continuously facing. they make it seem like the mods were incompetent and self serving and they completely vilify them by telling people that that’s what you should expect from them all the time. they don’t treat it as a single experience, they use it to damn mods and to damn groups.
it’s honestly sickening how people act and react to things on talk blogs. it’s disgusting and i wish we as a community would just stop depending on them. we need to end them completely. the community doesn’t need them. if something is that big of an issue, people can write about it on their own blogs. if you want to do a psa about a dangerous writer then write about it on your own blog.
i chose to write this post from one of my blogs because sending it to a talk blog would defeat the purpose. and this isn’t me attacking talk blog moderators. i understand wanting to give people a place to talk about their experiences and in turn offering your opinion. that’s cool, but seeing how people talk about each other on these blogs and seeing what it’s doing to the community is a sign that they shouldn’t exist anymore.
they just shouldn’t.

                                                                  REEDRPH
                HOW TO TWITTER RP (A DETAILED GUIDE)
As per request, I’m about to tell you how to roleplay in the Twitter roleplay community if you’re interested in starting.  This is just my take on Twitter roleplay, and I’m sure there are others with different methods. But I’ll try to break this down step by step with pIcTuReS because I fucking love pictures.
TLDR; (Because im lazy)
GENERAL
Alright so if you’re unaware what twitter roleplaying is it’s roleplaying via Twitter; though you’ll find all the roleplay mains on tumblr in the ‘twitter rp’ tag.  Unlike tumblr roleplaying where you write in the third-person, for twitter roleplays you write in first-person. As it’s social media based your tweets come from a first-person perspective which means everything is ‘I’ based. However, it is not uncommon for people to roleplay out paras in the DMs just like how you’d write on tumblr.
Twitter roleplays are fast, everything is happening that day at that moment, opposed to tumblr groups where you may be doing a thread set a week ago. They’re great if you don’t have a lot of time, but still want to roleplay, or want to try out a more fast-paced environment!!
APPLYING
Honestly applying for a twitter group is pretty much the same as applying for an appless tumblr group.
Now something that I tend to see a lot in twitter groups (at least the last time I checked the tag like three months ago MNXBXNBX and from my experience running them) groups drop into the tag but often won’t have their app up for 1-3 days. During that time they’re basically just building hype and gathering an audience, so when they do open it’ll be a swAMP of apps coming in in the first hour. If you like playing a popular faceclaim (like me and Jungkook) I find I rarely manage to snatch him up before anyone else.
But the actual app itself is normally easy, a lot of the time it’ll be requested you submit it opposed to using the ask box (since they may be a little bit too long for it) so prepare for that!!
SETTING UP AN ACCOUNT
Once you’ve been accepted it’s common to be given 6-12 hours to get your account in. You may think this is a short period of time, but you can put together a twitter account in 20 minutes.
A common theme, that I’ve never really experienced is people getting locked out of new accounts, though from my history using an email and cell phone verification can prevent this. (if you include your cell phone number go into your twitter settings and disable letting people find you from your phone number) As well as people say not mass following a bunch of people all at once also helps, so only follow 20 people at a time (I’ve mass followed 60+ blogs and have been fine)
If it’s a new account (or an old one you haven’t touched in a while), just like a new tumblr blog you may not show up in peoples notifs!! You need to be active first, which is why you may see people posting “//notifs” before things are even open for plotting. This is perfectly fine and the only reason you should tweet beforehand!! If you notice you may not be getting any replies the first night this is likely why, which is why you want to post ‘notifs’ and like some stuff first.
Usernames
When it comes to usernames (your @) people typically play off their characters first name and try to make it funny or interesting. Some examples of my own characters past and present would be:
grayson2gayson
jacobgotjams
theSINinSINNER
Alliteration is a good approach!! Pick words that share the same first letter and it’ll run smoothly. Or sometimes people's names can be turned or related to other things like:
VANITYNOTFAIR
BEVERLYhillsbaby
There are also common name ‘starters’ you’ll see used like:
‘WTF’CARINA
‘STFU’DARREN
‘WTD’TYLER
‘GDI’JAKE
‘1800′MARTINO
Really it’s very similar to how names are set up on tumblr.
Display Names
Display names are a little different than usernames, they’re found above the username and is actually what people see first. A lot of the time people will put in memes, TV characters, inside jokes, quotes, song lyrics really anything. Two examples of display names from my own accounts are:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For one character I’ve chosen a play on his name for his display name that being ‘50 Shades of Grayson’, and for the other I chose a meme, which is ‘Do you take teardrops?’.
Really what you put in the display name can be anything.
Biographies
On every twitter account, you get a spot to put a biography this is where you can write a little blurb about your character, put in a quote, a joke, tell us their pronouns, and all that fun stuff. Though often if someone doesn’t know what to write for a bio you will see them just put “Bio for sale” as a little joke.
An example from one of my characters biographies which also includes the display name and username is as follows.
Tumblr media
I just included a small amount of information about him, used the ‘location’ spot to include their pronouns, and then the website spot to link back to the main group.
Icons & Banners
Depending on what kind of group you’re in changes what kind of icon you may use. For instance, if you’re playing someone famous and rich you may use a shot from a photoshoot, or a magazine. But if you’re playing someone with a less glamorous job, it’s a bit more fitting to start out with a selfie or a candid picture of your muse. (Later you may break out the more HQ pictures, I find that happens a lot)
For example, if you’re in a less glamorous setting the picture on the right would be more fitting. While if you’re in a glamorous setting you can get away with more HQ pictures. (But tbh no one’s gonna question it either way, you’ll see people post photoshoot pictures for milestones a lot!!)
Tumblr media
Banners can be anything, you can toss in a picture of a meme, an aesthetic (some people like to match their icons to their banners), if you’re in a ship it’s common for them to change their banner to a picture of the S/O.
Following the Main
Just follow them on twitter, sometimes people will send a little tweet with it like ‘// @.rpname character name has arrived’ or literally just “//@.rpname hi”. But for most all you have to do is follow the twitter main and they’ll follow you back, if it’s an unopened group they may not post a follow, but already opened groups always will!!
INTROS
Okay so you’ve gotten accepted and set up your account now it’s time for your intro. And intros change person to person, everyone has their own style!! I love graphics so mine occasionally are a little fancier, but not always!!
It’s also common to end off your post with ‘LMS to plot’ which just means if someone likes it you DM them to plot.
IMPORTANT: Do not post tweets or your bio before the main gives the go ahead!! (Aside from the ‘notifs’ tweets)
Option One:
No bio post, you just introduce yourself in a tweet saying something along the lines of
“//Hey my names Reed, I’ll be playing Grayson and i don’t have a bio but he’s a 20 year old solo artist who’s been around here for two years. They’re pretty chill and kind of over dramatic.”
Option Two:
The lists, since a lot of people roleplay on twitter only through their phone you’ll see a lot of bios posted through a note app where they write down some general info, sometimes in lists, sometimes in blurbs. It’s not uncommon for people to post their characters app in it.
Tumblr media
Option Three:
As someone into graphics a lot of the time I find myself being extra and just making pretty intros. This is not at all required or expected, but if you want to do it, you can.
Tumblr media
PLOTTING
Plotting goes along with intros, it’s extremely common for someone to have a wanted connections list, or just say‘LMS to plot”. Which means you’ll go to the DMs to plot with them.
But there are also a decent amount of people who prefer chem over plotting, it all depends on what kind of person you are.
TWEETING
If the main as given the go-ahead to start tweeting then it’s time to think of your first tweet. Now as I stated at the very beginning of this, twitter roleplaying is done from a first-person perspective (with the exception of if you para in the DMs but we’ll talk about that later.)
When it comes to OOC tweets make sure to always start them with slashes ‘//’ (one or two whichever you prefer), this is just the way of showing it’s OOC.
A lot of people tweet for their characters, like they would for themselves. This is very common in twitter groups, everyone puts a little part of themselves in their muses. But it’s also good to find ways to separate them so you aren’t playing to OOC. As it’s not uncommon for people playing more of a self-insert to feel attacked over IC drama that is not OOC, just since they’ve invested so much of their personal self in them. I personally often play characters opposite to my personality IRL to avoid this, however, if you roleplay and put a bit of yourself into the character there’s nothing wrong with that!!
Your first tweet will always feel like the hardest, which is why I typically choose to reply to other people first to take the pressure off before posting my own. But this can really be anything you could say what they had for breakfast, post something funny, or just say ‘hi’, it’s honestly up to you there’s no wrong way to start.  You can even post a selfie, typically most people do sometime in their first 100 tweets.
REPLY TO OTHER CHARACTERS TWEETS
This is so important, because one of the most common things I see is people who do not reply to other characters, but expect people to reply to them and then they start saying the group isn’t inclusive because they don’t have a lot of threads. But the first few days the dash is always super busy, meaning a lot of tweets will get lost in it, so don’t get sad if some of your tweets don’t get replies, not all of them will. So make sure you’re replying to other people, that’s how you build connections and stay included in the group!! If you ever see anyone posting to RPTs or sending anons to the main saying things are cliquey and you’re in your first 1-5 days, almost 100% of the time it is because they are not replying to enough things themselves!!
If you’re active, posting your own tweets, and replying to tweets you can get above 100 tweets in your first night. (I’ve gotten 500-600 on the first night before)
You may see a lot of ‘LMS for a DM’ posts too, which just means if you like it, they’ll send you a DM.
SUPPORT OTHER CHARACTERS
Do you see that selfie on the TL?? Go like and retweet it!! Even post a reply on it if you’re really feeling it this is a fast way to make friends. Also, retweet any milestone posts you see posted!! It’s always nice to get support on your own character, which means you need to do it for others.
Also you should get out of your comfort zone, roleplay with faceclaims you may not normally roleplay with, or characters you don’t know.
In the end you'll come to understand more how things work as time goes on, and typically very fast.
DIRECT MESSAGES (DMS)
There are two types of general messages in the DMs (well three, but I’m giving the third its own category)
The first is OOC messages, used to plot, or communicate with your partner. Much like OOC posts on the timeline, you want to always start this out with ‘//’.
Now for IC messages. These are written just as you would write for DMing as yourself, the only difference is you’re doing it IC.  So here’s a fast example I made between two of my own characters to show you how it works. It really is very casual, and sometimes you’ll DM with people everyday, other times it may die out, it’s all about character chemistry.
Tumblr media
PARAS IN DIRECT MESSAGES
So paras still do exist in twitter roleplays!! They just happen in the DMs opposed to on the timeline. Now there are two different ways of acting stuff out in the DMs and one of them is the para way (my personal preference) or some people kind of just talk it, which I’ll also explain.
When it comes to para’s, I’m not going to lie the most common times I see them happen is with ships, writing out dates or smut (no smut if yoURE A MINOR). Which you may lead up to happening through messages or hint at it, and then you just ask your partner
“//hey do you want to para this?” and typically they’ll say yes, sometimes people might be too busy. If this is the case you can just headcanon it OOC!! Which just means you discuss what may have happened.
So if you’re wondering what a para may look like, it could be something like this:
Tumblr media
Now for the ‘talk’ version, it’s a little different, and I’m personally not a big fan of it, but if it’s my partner's preference I’ll do it. And basically you don’t write out the actions, you just hint at them in what they’re saying.
So an example of what that looks like is the following:
Tumblr media
OTHER IMPORTANT SHIT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT
Milestones: Milestones are when you hit a big number of tweets, for example every hundred tweets. People often celebrate by posting pictures, or videos. Though I find once I pass 1K tweets I don’t do milestones for every hundred, but I at least do them for every 500.
Indirects: An indirect is when someone mentions your characters name on the timeline, this means that when you search the name and hit ‘from people you follow only’ you can see it. These are great for selfie captions, so if you see someone asking for an indirect, give them one!!  An example of one would be if someone said ‘grayson is the wORST’, since they used ‘grayson’ I can find it in my indirects. When using this for a selfie caption you typically credit the person who said it with their @ for example if I made it my characters selfie caption I’d format it as ‘@.characterurl: Grayson is the wORST’.  Notice the period to separate the @ from the username? This is so they aren’t actually are tagged and get stuck with your notifications for that post.
Quirk: Some people like quirk, some people don’t. Basically, it’s characters who post memes constantly, make a joke out of everything, and are just very extra. I find that a nice middle ground is the best place to be.  Don’t let that be the only thing you post, and don’t be too quirky in serious situations. But a little quirk never hurt anyone!!

BASICALLY THE DO’S AND DON’TS
Do:
Follow your group's rules!!
Run your plots by the admins!!
Reply to other people’s tweets (as many as you can, don’t be selective!!)
Post your own tweets!!
Retweet all selfies and videos you can
Be a welcoming person!!!
Don’t:
Expect people to reply to your stuff if you are barely replying to anyone else.
Take IC drama as OOC
Be a shitty person, avoid being racist, sexist, homophobic etc, etc.
Be cliquey
Guilt trip people for ships!!
Only look for ships / faceclaim hunt ships
Tag up on characters on the dash (if you see two people arguing don’t throw your character in, it’s overwhelming)
Turn people against other players characters. Even if you don’t like them, it’s not right to isolate someone like that.
Go to RPT blogs with your problems instead of the admins. You can’t solve problems that way, if you talk to the admins, they’ll try to help.  RPT blogs can’t, which makes you part of the problem.
IN CONCLUSION
That’s it MNBVCXZ If I missed something you want to know, send me a message!!

all of the things in the "get to know the role-player" meme!
*The ones I didn’t answer already*
◜ get to know the rp & rph mun ◇ ask memes ◞
Tumblr media
{ ⊽ } —- link some of your favorite partners!: Well I adore all my partners, pretty much a lot of people but- @prxtty-muses @hauntedmediium @pulchrousati @sevendeadlymusings @cateyeswarlock @herfragilewarrior @poisonpunkking like there’s more but top of my head.  (Plus some of yall write a few common muses, so I try to remember who is what url/the urls and its that multimuse life, love you all in general) { ⊾ } —- favorite rp memory?: Mmm hard to pick. I’ve got a good collection. *despite the big collection of trashy ones* I do really miss the days where out of nowhere I was the inbox for people like ‘hey how do I start rping’ etc. Like I was a chill space, still am but now there’s not people just randomly anon telling dumb little stories. Random nights where everybody would talk about stupid crushes they had, etc.
The good ooc in general. But like a strong one is that one situation where it was me wanting to come out to somebody, they beat me to it and then I was like ‘oh cool, so you’re still amazing and you to me btw me too’. Or when I was slyly just being me and it was like ‘wait hold up you’re trans? me too dude’.
{ ⋀ } —- talk about your favorite ship!: I don’t have a favorite? Like I have some I adore and those I would kill for. Especially because of the partner. But like I adore especially people who ship with my ocs, or like naturally most things with chemistry. Not even like romantic/sexual ships. Got loads of like family, found family, friends, etc that I adore too. { ⋁ } —- describe a muse you want to play, but haven’t yet.: I mean *cough* my ocs all need more love. *cough* Zephaniah. But I’ve got this series in mind, that I’ve ‘written’ *procrastinate/isn’t published but hopefully one day* and I’d be super happy to write a oc/muse based in that reality. Where pretty much humans are aware of demons,angels and like there’s a whole bunch to it. But the angels are actually trouble, demons have more morals technically. There’s also fallen angels who aren’t meant to interfere with humans/keep to themselves,etc.
{ ⋂ } —- describe a ship dynamic you really want: I need more variety overall. But I’d adore a real slow burn, childhood friends to lovers to friends. Friends. Best friends. Odd dynamics.
.{ ⋃ } —- favorite fandom to rp in?: Hmm most the ‘fandoms’ are uhh strictly attached is to deal with drama. But I naturally do enjoy s.hadowhunters *tv based myself but obviously not a snob*. Or t.ua.
{ ⋋ } —- favorite group experience?: No experience with groups, did try making a og group verse once and uhh it was terrible.
{ ⋌ } —- favorite fc?: Don’t have one. I have loads I love/want to use. Then adore the ones I’ve got.
{ ⋍ } —- favorite 1x1 and/or indie experience?: I don’t want to seem like I value something more than another thing right, it depends. I’d say the people who get that I should write for me, and have backed those choices. From this multi, to that I have a muse that I’ll only be writing for one person/a few I’ll only write selectively because I want to write them for real again.
{ ⋈ } —- what’s your favorite thing to do as a rph?: I do have a technically rph blog, it’s more a disaster blog in general. But I enjoy making the odd musing, sentence starter memes, odd gif icons,etc.
{ ⋊ } —- favorite thing about the rph community?: Haven’t been much in it/a big part of it technically not a “cool” kid. But like one blog I really enjoy reblogged this gif pack I made, with super nice comments/briefly followed my one blog and that was cool. Especially cause I wasn’t too sure the pack was that great. Cause I don’t go fancy or anything- it was a trial dimension thing too,etc.
{ ⋎ } —- favorite thing about the rp community?: The good, wholesome interactions. How as much drama, crap there might be. There’s also people who will back you if you’re scared to leave toxic stuff behind, or make changes cause you need to for your health.
{ ⋏ } —- show a little love! mention a favorite rph or rp partner and give them the affection they deserve.: For everybody, your writing is amazing and all of you are super nice lovely people. I genuinely enjoy seeing you on the dash, writing with you. And everything that also goes for people I haven’t interacted with yet.
Now to be specific cause I’ve done plenty to show I adore everybody. @pulchrousati is frankly a wonderful person, with such spectacular writing on every blog/every muse he writes. Indulges my dumbass. Gets a few unpopular opinions I’ve got. Wonderful interaction ooc, actual communication that I’ve had perhaps like a handful of times. Put the theme for the blog together, the fancy tags- basically the sane voice that was like ‘yo just do the multimuse already’.
Just ashjfkhdsal pretty much and I stan.
{ ⋐ } —- underrated fc you like? : fcs that aren’t overused, fcs that aren’t trashy people- I can’t think of just one. There’s quite a few I wanna gif/use that have no resources and such. So -puts head down- honestly I can’t pick
{ ⋑ } —- underrated ship you like?: Canon? Non canon? Ships I have but nobody else might be down for? But uhhh I really adore Taylor getting to be a sibling. Maia, and Rebecca like fight me but that’s some ship material. Clary where she’d be able to actually you know take all the yuck out/mess with plot a bit but get to have a sibling relationship with her brother. Then like there’s of course more but top of my head so yee.

You are everything I despise about what roleplaying has become. A bunch of stuckup private people. Roleplaying used to be about making friends and having fun. The RPers choose YOU not the other way around, you can be selective about who you want to rp with but ignoring people because you aren't following them yet? Before they even have a chance? For just saying hello? Disgusting. The RPC needs to shun private rp blogs and go back to being open and RP with everyone.
How are we suppose to become mutuals if I’m not allowed to interact with you? And I’m a side blog… It’s impossible to find new people to rp with.
What do you think of me meme? - Accepting
Go on ANON and tell me what you think of me. I do not want to know who it is, at all. Don’t tell me who it is, don’t give me hints, don’t say your screen name. Tell me exactly what you think of me. Don’t sugarcoat things. Don’t lie. If you hate me, tell me why. Tell me what I’m doing wrong. If you like me, tell me why. Tell me exactly what you think of me.
Tumblr media
I’m putting these both here because from what I can gather… These asks are both sent by the same person simply because of how close they where time frame wise when I received them along with how similar the writing is. Plus I believe you’re the same individual who sent me an ask related to this back in January. Here’s the ask if anyone is curious. And if you are the same person who sent this I encourage you to read my response to your previous ask as well as this one as I doubt you even read it. And even if you aren’t the same anon as before, please read it because it will give some insight to some of the things you’ve questioned I believe.
Anyways. To answer the the small ask I sent that I have put in this post just so I didn’t have to make two posts about this. The part about being a side-blog. My rules literally state the following in relation to any and all side accounts.
The General Info Section
Tumblr media
The Following/Unfollowing Section
Tumblr media
If you have a personal account with a side-account. Tell me. But if you’re an RP account who just so happens to have a few side RP accounts as well, then there’s a good chance I know that you do. Lucky for you anon is that if you are in dead a follower (which I’m pretty certain you are if I’m being honest) I at this current moment and time know which followers of mine have a side account.
Enough about that however. Onward to the big ask now. And the response to this one is going to be extremely long so I apologise in advance but I do hope you read it.
Tumblr media
To start of. It’s kind of obvious you haven’t read my rules in the slightest. Specifically because I state the following in my rules in the first section might I add:
The General Info Section
Tumblr media
If you don’t like how I run MY account. Then go. Leave. It’s literally stated in my rules right there. I don’t have time for people like you. In fact, I don’t even wish to befriend people like you who act like an entitled brat. What makes you think you’re entitled to my time at all? News flash hun. You aren’t. You aren’t entitled to my time in any way shape or form. That’s like saying every stranger you walk past MUST say hello to you. The real world doesn’t work like that at all. You are NOT entitled to my time. You are NOT entitled to write with me. You are NOT entitled to befriend me. You are NOT entitled to receive anything from me in the end. That is life. You are NOT entitled to anything from me or anyone else.
Now lets address your message and I’ll do so by looking at it in parts. Mainly the parts that greatly stick out to me.
‘A bunch of stuckup private people‘
Tumblr media
Now. I don’t consider myself stuck up in the slightest. Some people might think I am due to howI run my account but then again we have different views on people and that is life and it happens. But let me elaborate as to why I am private and to an extent selective. I am private and selective because I don’t wish to clutter my dash with people I don’t want to write with or see myself interacting with at all. It’s why I prefer to interact with mutuals only and am picky with who I follow at times.
I used to not do this and write with everyone. But I got overwhelmed. On one account I had 1.3k followers and starter calls could get like 20-30 likes sometimes and it just wasn’t doable. I couldn’t do it and people would get mad at me if I didn’t write them a starter. It took a massive toll on me mentally and emotionally when I ran my accounts like this in the past.
I am private for my own health and safety. So I’m not overwhelmed by threads and so I don’t have to force myself to write with fandoms I don’t know/aren’t a fan of. So I don’t feel overwhelmed with interactions and stress when I can’t interact with everyone who wants to write with me. That’s just a few of the reasons I am private. I can’t speak for everyone but generally people are private and selective for many different reasons. People have different experiences during their years of roleplaying and because of that they become private for many different reasons.
Me becoming private and selective was due to my own health and safety in the end.
‘The RPers choose YOU not the other way around’
Tumblr media
So, from what I gather from this. You’re basically saying that ‘people get to choose to interact with me if they want to but I myself can’t choose who I want to interact with’. Like correct me if I am wrong but from what I am gathering, that’s exactly what you’re implying. Implying I don’t get to have a choice in who I wish to interact with.
Fun fact. That is highly toxic behaviour and view points my dear anon. If you think that, think that it’s okay for you choose to follow me but then state I can’t choose if I want to follow or interact with you, that I should interact with you just because you show interest! Then you shouldn’t be rping in the first place because guess what? People can pick who they wish to interact with.
That’s like saying to someone you meet ‘I have chosen to be your friend but you don’t get to decide if you want to be my friend or not you are my friend and that is that’. Like do you see how unrealistic that is? See how toxic that is? No one would be your friend if you did that! As I’ve already said. You’re NOT entitled to my time. No one is. And at the same time, I’m NOT entitled to peoples time either. If people don’t want to follow me back or interact with me because they aren’t interested in who I write or how I run my account? That is fine as it is life. You aren’t going to interact with or want to interact with every rpier out there and every rpier out there isn’t going to interact with or want to interact with you.
‘You can be selective about who you want to rp with but ignoring people because you aren’t following them yet? Before they even have a chance? For just saying hello?’
Tumblr media
So the continuation to the statement from above! Now with this part you’re saying that I CAN be selective with people? Only to go on and state I’m ignoring people before giving them a chance when I am being selective! My dear anon you have no idea what I do when I consider following someone so here is a break down because I look at every account as an equal if they follow me first. Same if I go looking through accounts and follow them first. So.
I look at new followers when I get the opportunity as I am not here at all hours of the day and even then sometimes I’m too tired to read peoples information. In general I tend to skim bios and rules first. See how long they are. Sometimes I don’t have the ability to read a lot of information in one go so if there’s a lot of information I make note of the account to look back at once I’m able to read a lot of information in one go. I read rules and bios pages. Then verses and headcanon pages if you have them. If it’s a multi-muse I tend to read the bios on the muses I’m interested in interacting with and skim over other muses to see if there’s the chance to interact with them. Next. I look at your posts. I look at how you write your muse, to see your style of writing. I look at your ooc posts to see what you’re like as a person to see if you vague or complain about the rpc. I look to see if you’ve got drama and callout tags and see if you actively participate in stuff like that as well. I tend to not follow people who participate in a lot of drama or vague/complain about the rpc quite a bit because I don’t want that on my dash. If I am interested in interacting I will follow you or follow back. If not I will not follow you at all. I tend to not follow people who seem to ship with one particular muse for my own comfort as I don’t want to essentially become ship fodder.  If you write in a fandom I am not interested in or fond off I tend to not follow either. I also don’t follow if people don’t cut their rp posts because I don’t want my dash getting clogged by a thread that has like 20+ reblogs to it.
Tumblr media
I don’t ignore followers. I do look at them when I can. I’m not the fastest person at doing so but yeah. I do look at them and see if there is the possibility of interacting. I look at accounts and give each one a chance by looking at them all fairly and in the end decide if I WANT to follow them or not and interact with them.
So yeah anon. You’re right with I can be selective because it is my account. I get to do what I want with it. And if I don’t follow you, then it either means I haven’t checked your account out or I don’t have an interest in following/interacting with you because of some of the following. And with how you are acting, I don’t even want to interact with you in the slightest.
Also. I can assure you, that if you are the person who sent that last anon hate. You haven’t said hello to me once on this account. You just followed and that is it. If you wanted to say hello you’d have sent an ask of anon or on anon while stating your side account or even sent me a DM instead. If you are the person then I’m pretty sure you sent an ask stating your side account on my last account. Maybe things could have been different if you approached me privately but no. We went done the road of hate and trying to guilt trip me again!
Tumblr media
I know I reblogged this meme. Asking for peoples honest opinions about myself. Like if you genuinely didn’t like how I wrote or acted I’d have accepted it because not everyone is gonna like everyone. But I didn’t think I’d get an anon like this again. On how I ran my account considering it’s my account and no one elses and I can do whatever the hell I want with it.
So in conclusion anon. Leave. Get out. Skedaddle the fuck away because I will never want to interact with someone like you. Someone who acts like an entitled fucking brat and thinks I should interact with them just because they decided to follow me. Thinking that must mean I have to follow and interact with them too. Fuck no. It states it in my rules about shit like this and I’ll even show it for you.
The Following/Unfollowing Section
Tumblr media
Right there. There you go. It states right there on the topic of following and if you don’t believe me go ahead and look in my rules as it’s right there along with the other screenshots I made at the beginning of this ask.
Tumblr media
Just. Unfollow me. I have a good idea who you are thanks to your last ask from around two months ago as stated earlier. Christ fuckin unfollow and block me again if this is you please. The only reason I think I know who this is is because of the last anon from two months ago. From when it was sent and how an account had unfollowed me and also blocked me.
If you have issues with how I ran my account or questions then you should have spoken to me privately about it. I stated that a few times in my rules which you’d have seen if you read them along with various other things you’ve mentioned in the ask. If you read my rules you’d have seen I say ‘don’t follow me’ if you don’t like how I run my account and how to interact with me if you’re a side account.
I want you to fuckin leave me alone now. You don’t like how I run my account. Congratulations. You’re human. You don’t have to like everything in the world! However!!! Doesn’t give you the right to harass me in the slightest about it or act like a fucking asshole.
I disgust you for running my account way I want to? Well guess what? You fuckin disgust me for thinking it’s okay to send this hate simply because of how I run my account and for trying to guilt me because of this. How about you stop being a fuckin melon and start acting your god damn age and not your shoe size.
If you’re still pissed of you may speak to me privately of anon to explain why you felt this was the appropriate course of action but. Send it on anon. I’m most likely going to ignore it. I don’t need fake apologies from someone hiding behind a mask. If you do genuinely feel remorse and want to explain your actions, speak to me privately. I am willing to speak and listen to you but I will not wish to follow or interact with you due to your actions so please keep that in mind.
Otherwise, if you’re just gonna send it on anon or just send me more hate and guilt then please skedaddle the fuck off to whatever planet your brain is on and never interact with me again.

okay, so since people have told how they felt about a certain group i feel it’s my right to do the same. i honestly have a bunch to say but i also feel like it’d be so repetitive because everything that happened to me basically happened over and over again. so i don’t know why i stuck around as long as i did. lol. i started off there, as more than just one person. i vaguely remember playing max thieriot before picking up shay mitchell, i forget who i played before her. i know it was someone. like taissa farmiga or something. but i was basically a nobody besides being close with becca, we had known each other from a previous rp.
so, after picking up shay mitchell and finally getting people to notice me...the admins started to notice me too. more and more. i thought this was a good thing, at first it was because in the beginning some of them were nice. tini wasn’t too bad but then after so many times of losing muse they get annoyed with you, even though they let their best friends switch earlier and however much they wish to. if you’re not in their group, you’re shit outta luck. i know this because i was friends with someone in their group who told me he was allowed to switch days sooner than me. but he had to talk her into letting me switch early. it was unfair that everyone else but their friends had to wait.
i was upset and i told my friend heather, but apparently she wasn’t at all surprised because the admins did that quite often. even when it came time for me to switch at times, they made me wait an extra week because i asked questions, which apparently is against their rules. i asked a simple question and when one admin told me it was okay to switch, another would force me to wait an extra week because i was “wrong” on the date. when in fact it was the admin. but yet, their friends had the right to switch as much and as soon as they wanted. as long as no one kept track of their date of acceptance, i have looked some up before and some of their friends either took up characters too early or switched too early. but when i asked it was like i was trying to trick them into something. this was always something that happened, and they did it to heather too because she told me as much.
now this one really pisses me off, because i honestly had evidence against this person bullying me yet they kept her. i told the admins about stacie, who constantly talked shit about me to people. i know for a fact because people told me and sent me the messages she sent them. so i not only sent them the evidence once, but every time i got it, which was about three times. and it’s supposed to be three strikes and you’re out, right? apparently not for stacie. because she was there after the third time even though they said they’d take care of it. they didn’t, she continued bullying me ooc and i got so sick of it. i told stacie myself to leave me alone, to stop talking shit about me. then i got in trouble for saying something to her? why? because stacie was apart of their group and they stick up for their own, not for people like me. aka the people who are just outsiders.
i was pushed out of that group, not only by the admins (not all of them because becca was one and she was a great one, she tried to make things better) but the rest, but by the people in the group because they could be so nice when they came in and suddenly change when they were there. i was blamed for sending rude anons when i didn’t, i never knew about it. i never have sent anything rude to anybody. i was shut out because of ic ship partners saying things ooc about me, and by sticking up for myself it made other people mad. and there were cliques in the group, if you weren’t apart of them then you wouldn’t be spoken to. the chat would get dropped so quick.
i was there for a long time, getting shit thrown at me and saying nothing. all in all, scandalous made me hate roleplaying. because it made me realize that it’s not an escape from real life, it’s not fun. it’s basically just like real life in every way, going back to high school which i hated in every single way possible. there were cliques, rude af people who took control, and people who bullied you until you had enough and went off on them. that’s what scandalous was. just another high school like experience, but without any positive outcomes unless you made friends from it. i made a few: heather, katie and katie. my other two i made in other roleplays: becca and krista (obvs not the previous admin, pretty sure they all hated me).

Hey guys what's up I'm the leader of Team Skull: Johto branch, and we're accepting members. Have you ever wanted the economic security and sense of belonging of being in a gang, but didnt want to join the mob? Are you absolutely sick of blasting off again and ready to settle in some place where the vibes are less take over the world and more pillow fort? Have you ever wanted to live somewhere with a bunk sofa? Team Skull is right for you! Join today! We meet in the park where I totally don't live.
~~~
My name is Sol and I'm a poison type specialist. I used to be a trainer; I have all my certifications, blah blah blah. I work for a non-profit cleaning up routes and distributing those free items your twelve year old picks up while catching Zigzagoons. It's a very wholesome job. I also do poison "pest" control on the side to make ends meet; moving Beedrill nests away from kiddie parks and relocating Trubbish to the local dump and wrangling Ekans, all that shit.
My only Pokemon currently is Queef (he goes by Fart because my brother refuses to call him Queef but his name is Queef damnit he makes the exact sound), a classic Grimer I rescued from a clean up job. Mostly I just rehabilitate or foster, but Queef is here full-time.
If you're also a poison type lover, definitely hit me up, I love the little buggers.
UPDATE: Currently living in a park 👍 I now also have a feral Nidoran M who will be released once he stops injuring himself, and an Absol who I don't think I technically own but lives here also. Their names are Lil Bitch and Soteria respectively.
OOC STUFF BEHIND CUT
HEY EVERYONE, I'm irl Sol, actual Sol behind the fictional Pokemon Sol. I follow back from @solitarelee which most of you probably figured out immediately given my name LMAO. So my activity page looks like this!
Tumblr media
Which I'm super pumped about actually. I didn't foresee any of this happening when I started the blog but I'm having a blast.
If anyone wants to OOC plot stuff to happen in "real pokeverse life" with me, my ask box and DMs are open (at least I think my DMs are open. if they're not right this second they're about to be). If you want something to be OOC discussion via ask box just let me know and be sure to send it off anon so I can answer privately. If we wind up doing a bunch of stuff together we could also trade Discords if necessary!
I'm gonna try to create like a list of all the members so I can keep them straight, but it might take me a second because I'm pretty busy irl. I'll also be trying to create a tagging system so people can tumblr savior or block certain RP threads if they feel like they're getting spammed to hell.
I created this blog as like a fun night time distraction on nights when I have to stay up, so it probably will never be super active during the day, at least not for while this semester is still going. If I don't reply right away it's definitely because I physically haven't seen it yet!
Thanks for all of your interest and for having fun playing in this sandbox with me!! I am living out my childhood pokemon rp dreams right now.
Oh man, it’s been years since I saw a mutuals only blog that I can recall that all their posts were only open to mutuals all the time, but those are few and far inbetween from what I’ve seen.  SOMETIMES there is a writing prompt or meme that is understandably mutuals only, such as “send a symbol and my muse will tell of a happy/sad/etc memory with your muse”.
Those have to be mutuals, as that takes prior knowledge of the other’s muse to write accurately for.
If I get some random werewolf wanting a memory of them and Ink together and I’m not familiar with this character I, the mun, have no idea how to write that. That doesn’t mean you can’t PM the mun of the blog  and ask if you can plot with them. If they say no, inquire what it takes to be a mutual. Usually those folks will be open to plotting something with you, especially since a mun who genuinely just wants to write good content rarely reaches out this way.   There’s other instances, and yeah if I specify a prompt is mutuals only there’s usually a reason like the aforementioned one, or
whatever I’m doing takes a lot of work and I’d rather do that for friends than randoms
(I see this with art sometimes, and understandably as a moment of one person being happy seeing their character is often HOURS of work on the other person’s part if it isn’t a quick doodle.) I remember a friend did this, and people kept responding on anon without telling who they were or their blog, and he kept saying, “anon, did you forget I drew you already” and linking back to the first anon they drew like it was all the same person. Was pretty funny. But if all the blog is “mutuals only” and you want to interact with that blog? Send them an out of character PM and ask them what it takes to become a mutual.
Sometimes a blog goes into mutuals only mode because the mun has little IRL time and wants to hold onto their friends during this stressful time and write RPs with existing relationships rather than write with a bunch of randoms.
Hoooonestly sometimes I’ll do that as randoms in the past turned me into a content generating machine (i.e. I put forth interesting plot and possibilities for my partner to respond to and instead of adding something interesting for me to build upon my partner ONLY reacts ic to what I wrote, and now I’m stuck in this crap rp while I entertain my partner and they put nothing into it. And then they get upset when I abruptly write an ending BECAUSE I AM NOT HAPPY AND I WANT OUT.) So I get that sometimes a mun is stressed and doesn’t want to deal with that possibility, and would rather keep writing with partners they know will give back writing they both enjoy.  Other times I can understand that a muse is in a certain plot point where they don’t want random people altering their muse’s story. With Ink, when Ink-centric plot is happening, you better believe the major players in that plot and I are talking and planning out of character, usually on Discord chat. Randoms I don’t know I usually don’t have a mun relationship with yet, and sometimes they’ll do sh#t just to have bragging rights later of “yeah I was the one who fed poison to Ink and made their face melt off.” For random stuff on the blog, yeah that happens. When I’m building character arcs and defining a species and telling their backstory, randoms doing random stuff and derailing plot is not what I want. So understandably they’d get blocked from that. Hell sometimes I’ve even been messaged by people wanting to be a part of my big plots- and I see later they just did it because they want the notoriety from it and don’t actually want to put in the work of writing and other stuff that’s hard to do on my own. So day one of the campaign rolls around after they’ve promised to do all this help so their muse can be IMPORTANT in the plotline and they either don’t show up at all, or they show up for the beginning, then disappear because they got their “fix” and now I have a random muse rooted in the plot who is now an obstacle to know what to do with and fill in the plot they were meant to because their mun isn’t writing for them anymore. It’s pretty irritating. So I totally understand muns who say, “I want a reliable writing partner I know for this prompt.”  Rarely do I ever see an entire blog that is mutuals only.
There’s usually SOME posts or plots that are open,
 otherwise how do you meet new mutuals/friends?
If you really want to write with someone and like their blog? Send them an ooc message. Ask them what it takes to be a mutual and if they’d write with you.
Odds are if you just talk to them mun to mun they’d be flattered and you’ll be taking your first steps to being a mutual.  If they are the kind of blog that isn’t open to anyone but friends they already have, and refuse to give you a chance- why did you ever want to write with this person in the first place?
Honestly, blogs that do this are so few and far inbetween I forgot they existed. I don’t really watch the name-grabbers I use to when I first started RPing (i.e. a blog who luckily grabs an easy to remember url like @askink or other mainstream well known characters). Those get massively popular, while their content isn’t any better than other RPers. They get overwhelmed with the amount of people trying to interact with them, and a few even let it go to their heads. If you get a blog like that, take a step back.
Are you trying to interact with them just because they’re a popular well known blog and you want the validation/attention/notariety of being responded to?  Don’t be that guy please.
Yeah, you can send asks and requests, that’s fine. But don’t be the guy that gets butthurt if they don’t respond or have time to write with you. If you pick a popular blog that gets a lot of asks and you’re one in huge sea of popularity surrounding them, that’s par for the course and you know it. Some of my art friends have blogs that get popular and they’ve had people send them asks then guilt them to respond to those asks- do not do this! This makes you a terrible person, and makes these artists not want to run their blog anymore. They’re not being paid to entertain you, their blog is their place, not a tv channel you can go to to demand entertainment and validation. If you are an artist, don’t let people do this to you. Granted, this is the opposite of the “being shy” the original post touched on. If you’re sending nice messages, and asks not demanding they be answered, yeah sure do it.
Send out lots of asks to all the blogs you’d like to interact with. They may not all be answered, so be happy in the ones that do respond. Send more to the blogs that responded as they’ll probably be the ones that keep responding rather than tossing your asks at already popular blogs that ignore them.
But don’t be a raging soapy washcloth because they don’t respond. Behind that popular url is just another regular person who usually has nothing to do with the franchise, they just got lucky getting the url OR ALREADY SPEND A LOT OF TIME GENERATING CONTENT so they don’t have time to respond to all the asks and requests they get. There are so many other awesome blogs out there who’d jump on the opportunity to be noticed, get asks, and write plot with you. They’re not popular, no. It’s up to you to seek them out, and they can be popular with you. Help them make great content, and you can be in their chosen circle. If you’re only interested in interacting with already popular blogs that want nothing to do with you, that seems like you need to reevaluate what you’re doing here. Odds are you aren’t one of those incurable fanboys/girls
Go find them. Love them. Become the mutual you always wanted to be.
How I Run My Blog
TAGGED BY: The awesome @fallasea and @unladylikc ! Thanks a bunch for tagging me ! ^^
TAGGING: @extravachance @votalia @crimsonroyalty @barmxcidal @dracdad @yamatablooded @shapetrickster @evergardcn @anikiofthesea @sengokuspirits and anyone else who’d like to do this meme ! ^^
SPEED:  I tend to reply pretty slowly most of the time, because I want to write quality replies for my partners. And because school and the lab and my personal life all keep me pretty busy and stressed. XD Normally, I tend to reply after 1-3 months, but recently, I’ve been good about replying within a week or two. ^^
REPLIES:  Hmm...as far as word count goes, I tend to aim to write about the same number of words as my partner has written. Sometimes I go over that word limit by a lot, but you’ll never see me drop under it. I have a personal thing about matching my partner’s length, but I don’t really care so much whether my partner matches mine, especially if I’ve written way too much. XD As far as the writing process goes...I write up a rough draft for a reply first, and then after a break of at least a few hours, I edit the rough draft, finish it, and queue it. In addition, I usually reply to things in the order in which I receive them.
STARTERS: I used to do starter calls twice a year (once over winter break and once over summer break), but now I’m too lazy to even do that much. XD If you want me to write you a starter, the best way is to come into my inbox / Tumblr IM, preferably with an idea. We can discuss ideas, and then when we reach an agreement about what the starter should be about, I can go ahead and write it. When I write starters, they tend to be 1-2 paragraphs in length, although with certain starters and certain muses I’ve been able to write 3-4 paragraphs just to start off with.
As far as other people’s starters go...I’m fine with pretty much anything, whether it’s plotted or unplotted, including random starters and one-liners. ^^ I suppose that the one type of starter that I dislike, though, is a pre-established relationship starter. Given Katsuie’s personality, he’s not the sort of person who makes friends / has an ex / flirts with other people / etc. I also dislike pre-established relationship starters because there’s not a specific memory for my muse to think back upon while he’s interacting with another person’s muse. There’s just this vagueness of ‘and then we were friends / lovers / rivals / enemies / etc.’ Also, I know that a lot of people dislike first-interaction starters because sometimes they get stale and boring, but I’ve found that you can have a lot of really unique first interactions from them, too. ^^
By the way, you’ll know when I’ve seen your starter when I’ve given your starter a like. ^^
INBOX: I try to send both IC and OOC memes as much as I can. I don’t tend to post memes myself that often, though. I simply don’t trust myself to get replies to memes out in a timely manner, unless it’s for a short meme. XD Right now, the inbox is open to everyone —– anons, non-mutuals, and mutuals. ^^
SELECTIVITY:  For right now, as it states in my rules, my blog is selective and semi-private. Semi-private means that I’ll thread with anyone, but I’ll give preference to interacting with my mutuals.
...I say that, but in all honesty, I’ve gotten a lot more picky when it comes to finding rp partners over the past several months. XD I probably should describe my blog as ‘highly selective’, but that phrase is associated with a lot of negative things, so I’ve avoided using it for now. ^^; I’m also considering becoming private, since 99% of the people whom I write with right now are private, so there’s pretty much no point in being semi-private. I’ll think about both of those things more before I actually make changes to my rules, though.
When it comes to looking for new rp partners, there are a few things that I do. First of all, the blog needs to have a rules page and an about page. I don’t feel comfortable following someone who doesn’t have at least a rules page, because I don’t want to be blamed for breaking a rule that I never knew about. Second of all, the blog layout needs to be readable. If the blog has a rules page and about page but I can’t read them, or the scroll bar for their blog is broken, then I won’t be able to read their pages / threads. Third, I look to see if they have an ic interaction of decent length (150+ words) on the first page of their blog. This tells me whether they’re active and whether they can write multi-para-length or novella-length threads, which are my preferred types of threads. It also tells me whether they only write with a ship partner and / or significant other, or whether they’re open to writing with other people who aren’t ship partners and / or significant others. Looking through someone’s posts also tells me whether they tend to involve themselves in drama / reblog callout posts / vagueblog about other people / etc.
Since my own muse comes from an unknown fandom, I’m pretty open in regards to which fandoms I’ll roleplay with. Even if I’ve never heard of the series that your character is from, there’s still a chance that I’ll follow your blog, if there’s something in your muse’s background and / or personality that gives me at least a vague idea for how your muse could interact with Katsuie ! ^^ In regards of what style of writing I like to see...I can’t take purple prose or constant one-liners seriously. XD So when I look for new partners, I tend to look for ones who write in a more straightforward way. Also, I look for partners who tend to write multi-para to novella length threads, since those are the type of threads that I’m most interested in writing. ^^
If someone’s blog is inactive for a month or I feel like our muses don’t click, I tend to unfollow and / or soft-block. By the way, if you feel like our muses don’t click or that we, as muns, don’t click, then feel free to unfollow or soft-block me as well ! I’ll get the message. ^^
WISHLIST: You can find the wishlist tag here ! As for specific things that I’m thinking of at the moment:
More male friends ! I don’t know if it’s because of my preference for female muses or what, but strangely enough most of Katsuie’s interactions over the past year or two have been with female muses. It’d be nice to see him form some friendships with male muses, too ! Seriously, I can only think of one or two male muses whom he’s friends with right now. XD But honestly, Katsuie could use more friends in general, too. Whether they’re male or female or a supernatural being who has no use for the concept of ‘gender’. XD
I honestly feel kind of pathetic for admitting this next one, but...I’d like more romantic ships for Katsuie, as well. Seriously, I realized the other day that the last time that I even discussed a romantic ship with someone involving Katsuie and their muse was about a year ago. XD Now, given how Katsuie is, I understand that it’s not at all easy to ship with him. On the one hand, he’s pretty standoffish and cold to most people when it comes to romance, since he practically considers himself married to Oichi. XD On the other hand, when he does fall for someone else...once he reaches that stage of infatuation, that’s when the yandere side of him comes out and makes the relationship a mess. XD Still, though...I’d like to explore more ships with him, if it’s possible. ^^
HONEST NOTE:  Finding rp partners on this blog can be really tough sometimes, so I’m truly thankful to all of you who have followed this blog and have had your muse(s) interact with Katsuie in some way ! ^^
THE ADMIN'S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY: a SEBLAINE-RPH chapter by chapter guide on building and admining a roleplay group
Chapter One - Making a Blog
So you've decided that you want to open up a roleplay of your very own. My first piece of advice is as follows; don't panic. Remember that even before the moment of conception, you aren't alone. If at any point you ever feel unsure, or would like another opinion, there are a vast number of people out there that would love to help you out. You never have to panic, no matter what the problem. Personally, I am always open to giving advice, helping with the process of building your plot/character biographies/other writing, production of graphics of any kind, theme makeovers, and the request of any other help you may need. I'm not the only one out there either, there are plenty of other RPH and other help-based blogs out there too. Most other roleplayers don’t mind giving opinions either, so you can always ask your friends.
1.) We're going to start, in this guide, with making your blog.
Some people prefer putting their main pages on sideblogs, but there are things (like submitting promos and shoutouts*) that are made more difficult by that so others prefer main blogs. Take a moment to consider what you want in this instance. There are guides out there and people you can ask if you want to do a bit of research, but in my opinion the decision comes down to one question. If you're planning on making a bigger group, something long-lasting with big needs, then you probably want to make a main blog. If you're making something simpler, something less serious (but of course still has your interest and devotion), or something smaller (like a 2x2, 3x3, or 4x4) then you could be fine with a sideblog. The only reason I've personally ever used a sideblog for a main was so that I could always be available to questions sent there within seconds, even while I was roleplaying. I had made a small group that consisted of less than a handful of characters and once I had those few roles filled, there was no further need for the main other than for organization and event announcements, so it just worked better to have it right there, attached to my character blog. If it had been on its own main blog, I may have forgotten to log in and missed questions sent to it.
*If you choose to make a sideblog, then you can use your rps/writing/personal blog to ask for shoutouts/promos. Some blogs that post those don't accept shoutouts/promos from anything but the main though, so keep that in mind.
2.) Once you've chosen, the first thing you'll need is a url.
Remember that this doesn't have to be perfect just yet, because you can change it at any time, but if you have any ideas that you really like, it's smart to save the url immediately so that nobody else gets the same idea and snags it first. Before you forget, head into the settings for your blog and turn on your ask box, the anon feature, and your submit. There are new on-blog advertising features that you need to turn off now too. At the time that I'm writing this, there are two of them and they're listed together. There is now also a “non-chronological posts” feature that you’ll have to turn off too once it starts. Because Tumblr is finicky, it's a good idea to make your ad blog right now too, and you might as well throw up an ooc blog while you're at it. For those that have never made a roleplay before, these two blogs (ooc and ad) for your roleplay will be sideblogs. The ad blog is where you'll queue your ads so that you don't spam your main and therefore the dash. The ooc blog will be a private blog that you click the option to password protect so that your players have a little community to talk out of character with each other. This helps with plotting and keeping your players connected ooc.
In order to create a new sideblog, click the little person button (on the top right of your screen) and click +New, then write in your url and do the captcha. You'll want to make a post on your main and on your ad blog right now, so that Tumblr registers them as new blogs. You don't have to tag either post or put anything you'll actually keep in it, all you need to do is make a post because your blogs won't show up in the tags until two days after your first post. Sideblogs follow the same rule. Posting on them now allows you to hit the tags as soon as you’re ready to advertise.
3.) Now that you've got the basics set up, it's time to pick a theme.
You can ask around the RPH community, check the rp themes and rp theme tag, browse an RPH’s theme tag (here’s mine), or look through your favorite theme maker's blogs to find the perfect one for you (my original themes).
When choosing a theme, you want to consider your group and its needs. Do you want a lot of links on your main page or would you prefer just a few links and the use of a full navigation page? Do you want a lot of room on your sidebar for a long description or will a scrollbar/a smaller space do? Also remember that if you choose to use a page with popup windows, you'll want to have mobile links up for them too.
A lot of people like to go with fansite themes, which all have a top header and side column(s) for information that make your main page look professional and streamline. There's room for a lot of information and links on some of these too. You can find fansite themes with sidebar columns that are so long that they have to scroll with the posts, but there are those that remain stationary as well. Some of them have font or navigation links as the top header, with no image, which are good for those of you that don't want to have to make a bunch of graphics for the main.
Another go-to theme type for roleplay mains are container themes. One of the things that you have to remember with container themes is that you want people to be able to see your main page, so you want to use one that doesn't have a tiny container. I've seen themes that are so small that the posts are 150px-250px wide with a 150px height window of appearance, which forces people to use 6px font and gif icons that are 25px by 25px so that it "looks aesthetically pleasing," but that translates to "absolutely unreadable" for a good number of people. There are a lot of container themes out there, and a lot of them have really small spaces for posts. You can edit that yourself though, or ask for help from the theme maker or an RPH if your favorite theme comes with a tiny container.
4.) There is more to do once you've got a theme, now you need to customize it.
No matter what theme you use, or what type of theme, you can always edit the html to make it better suited for your needs. If you can't do it yourself, there are plenty of RPH blogs that would do it for you.
Before doing anything else, you should be sure that:
Your theme doesn't have any fonts that are below 12px. Some fonts are larger than others, but anything that you actually want people to be able to read cannot be smaller than 12px. It is relevant to mention that 16px is the standard for accessibility in font sizes, so your fonts should be closer to 16px than 12px, but any smaller than 12px is just cruel.
Your posts are 500px in width. On some themes, you can justify using as small as 400px on the post size, but no smaller. When the post size shrinks too much, it's harder to read and the font html tends to shrink too in order to compensate for the smaller space. When changing the post size, I always use cntrl+f to search for the originally used post size px, so that I can change all of the other applicable html locations (ask size, tag size, the entry div, photo set size, etc) as well.
You might have to change other things because of those two bullets. Containers might need to be edited, margins changed, etc. Those of you that want to change other aspects of their themes can do so now. Put everything on the main page where you want it. Consider this the first step in customization.
Then make your theme graphics. This is where you really start to see your roleplay becoming something specific and personalized for your plot. Use imagery that is relevant to your plot. Keep diversity in mind by choosing imagery that represents as many different types of people as possible, if you're using people in these graphics. Remember that you don't want your graphics to be too dark to see, but you also don't want them too bright to see-- and you definitely don't want to whitewash anyone. You may wish to use a PSD (<-link to psd tag) so that all of your graphics are edited the same and therefore look the same, just beware of those three problems. Almost any PSD can be edited and altered in the name of making them work properly. Again, there are RPHs that will gladly do this for you or give you advice, if you want the help.
Your theme colors should match your graphics, and can be taken directly from them if you want. I prefer to, it just makes it easier to ensure my graphics match my theme. It also helps to choose a lighter or darker variation of the color on the graphics that still matches, when you don’t want to use the exact same colors.
Tumblr media
When choosing colors for your main blog, make sure that everything is still accessible. You want to make sure everything matches and looks aesthetically pleasing, but aesthetic means nothing if you can't read your blog. For instance, if your background is dark, the font you put on top of it should be light. If your background is light, the font you put on top of it should be dark. If you have a bright pink background and a bright yellow font, it is very likely that it will be completely impossible for anyone to read. Accessibility is not just important for those that have a difficult time seeing, but for you as well; if people can't read your blog, they won't stay on it long enough to give your group a chance.
5.) Your theme basics are done, now fill out your rpg information.
I'm going to do a whole new admin guide for this, so it won't be as detailed as it could be. I will link that guide as soon as I finish it.
Know your rpg and what you need on your page. Different groups require differen't information. For instance, if you're a supernatural group, you may want to at least link to information on all of the different species involved in your group. If you're not running a supernatural group, that's obviously not necessary.
As far as the basics go:
You'll need a sidebar description, something catchy that draws people in and makes them want to read more. Make sure it gives a clear reading on what your rp is about.
You'll need clear navigation. Most groups have a navigation page, but you also want to make use of your navigation buttons. All themes have a different number of them, make use of them with the most important links for your group. Remember that if you have popups on your theme, you're going to want to have mobile links up for that material too.
You'll need a clear set of rules. Most of these are the same thing written over and over again, so really consider your group and what is important to you as an admin to make sure yours are as unique as possible. If you have any requirements, this is where to put them. Age restrictions, instructions for nsfw or mature content, activity limits, dash rules, and ooc stuff all goes here. The point of a rules page is that you want to be able to say, "you knew this was expected of you" if any problems arise. And you can add to this! If you start up your rp and someone does something you absolutely do not want to see in your rp again, feel free to make an amendment and add it to your rules.
You'll need to consider what other information you need on your blog as well. Some rpgs require applications, others are appless. Some need to have their plot explained further, others can cover it in the sidebar. Whatever your needs, make sure everything is clear, not too long-winded (people will tune out if they aren't engaged), linked clearly for ease of navigation, and double checked for proper spelling and grammar.
6.) So you think you’re done, now get a second opinion.
At this point, you can tell that your blog is done and ready for information to be put on it. It looks pretty, it has graphics on it, all of the information you want it on your blog, and you're certain that you can read it.
Double check that last statement. You can ask a friend or you can ask an rph, but now would be a good time to make sure that everything is accessible. You want to make sure that your theme is the right theme. You want to make sure that you've got a good font and font size, for both your page html and your graphics. You want to make sure that your information is clear and concise as well as attention-grabbing.  It's really easy to miss out on stuff, and we all have different screen sizes, so it's really important to get a second opinion.
I do theme reviews and opinions on rpgs as a whole, but you can go to almost any rph for the same service or simply ask your friends for their opinions.
I’ve got some loved ones in this forsaken shit-stain of a toxic community who are really suffering right now, because apparently things around here have gotten far more abusive and toxic than I thought. Over the last month or so, I’ve wondered if it was just me that was starting to get nauseous at the sound of hearing their phone buzz from across the room, or from seeming a push notification on the screen when browsing online elsewhere, or who was in the hospital about once a week due to randomly increased stress levels making my body shut down, and I got my answer last night.
To be honest, I myself have thrown up three times in thirteen hours... all over things happening on Tumblr. The only reason I haven’t posted anything like this, yet, is I didn’t want a bunch of whiny shits in my inbox asking if I’m talking about them. No. Passive-aggression is honestly exactly what’s driving me to do this. I’m not talking about anyone. I’m talking to everyone.
So let’s ALL have a little refresher course on the basis of Tumblr RP:
You don’t owe Tumblr SHIT. You don’t owe your followers SHIT. You don’t owe your muses SHIT. You don’t owe your new partners SHIT. You don’t owe your old partners SHIT. You don’t owe your OOC friend/partners SHIT. You don’t owe your inbox SHIT. You don’t owe your drafts SHIT. You don’t owe your dash SHIT. You don’t owe a plot SHIT. You don’t owe another muse SHIT. You don’t owe asks SHIT. You don’t owe anons SHIT. You don’t owe your layout SHIT. You don't owe Discord or Skype SHIT. You don’t owe someone ELSE’S life schedule SHIT. You don’t owe anyone or anything SHIT.
And the best and most important part: No. one. owes. you. shit. either.
Those of you who know my story know that I spent six years in a world whose very culture and societal structure demanded that I actively engaging with and befriend people who utilized threats, guilt trips, manipulations (no matter how transparent), belittlement, grooming, intimidation tactics, and bullying to get what they wanted out of me—which, most of the time, was just obedience. There were no corners to hide in. No computers to turn off. There was nowhere you could go to just “get away for a few minutes” and there definitely wasn’t anything you could do to stop it. If you wanted to survive, you had to stand there and let it happen. There is NO reason why my stress levels should be back there. None. There is no reason why the love of my life should have to get up out of bed at 5-fucking-am when he has work at 7-fucking-am to come hold my hair while I shake and vomit over the toilet over a few sentences sent to me by a person I don’t even know?
And I dare anyone to come into my inbox with that “ *patpat* awe honey maybe u should take some time away from tumblr ur obv not well and this isn’t healthy FOR YOU ” bullshit. I dare you. Don’t make me out to be the weak one just because you’re convinced that you can thrive in this environment the way it is while others can’t. It’s not healthy for fucking anybody. My experience, my illness, my mental health issues, don’t change what I would hope are basic tenets of human decency.
The guilt-tripping, the passive-aggressiveness, the toxicity, the clique-forming, the bullying, the lack of forgiveness, the trying to coerce people into smutting with you (really guys!?), the abuse-then-cuddle tactics, the one-upping, the patronization... it’s got to stop. Now.
If you’ve been a serious roleplayer on tumblr, and you haven’t seen or experienced these problems at all, fine. Pretend you didn’t see this and be grateful.
If you’re a serious roleplayer on tumblr and you ARE experiencing this, but just didn’t know if it was just you or not, it’s not.
Reblog if you want. I really don’t care. I really, really don’t. Jesus fuck I do not care.
