Compartir públicamente mis gustos musicales es algo que me incomoda  —y quizás lo haga toda la vida— porque realmente la música que escucho representa una parte muy íntima y mía. Con mis cancioncitas me siento yo misma, me aligero, me transporto, trasciendo... ¿Cómo se los explico? Me es más fácil escribir aquí a la nada que ir donde equis, enseñarle una canción que me gusta mucho y que al final me diga: ah, qué chiva. No, no puedo aceptarlo y tampoco puedo negociar con esas respuestas. Prefiero guardarlas para mí.

Las siguientes canciones que leerán a continuación constituyen “sorpresas gratas” porque se me había olvidado que fueron una parte de mi 2019 lo suficientemente significativa para que llegaran a la playlist resumen que arma Spotify. No fueron las más escuchadas del año, pero me inspiraron para volver aquí a platicar con ustedes.

1. Porcelain de Moby.

El año pasado llevé un semestre de danza. En dieciséis semanas me introdujeron al ballet clásico y la danza contemporánea. ¿Soy bailarina ahora? No, jamás. Esta canción la usaba mi maestra para dar las clases. En su momento fue tortuosa porque me costaba muchísimo llevar las cuentas al ritmo de la música sin interrumpir el movimiento por estar pensando (yo me entiendo, bichos). Luego la encontré por azar y me obsesioné escuchándola. Aunque me recuerda muchísimo a la clase, poco a poco va más allá hasta hacerme sentir como si estuviera debajo del agua, platicando con los peces.

2. Pecado de Caetano Veloso.

La primera vez que escuché esta canción estaba viendo Moonlight, una película tremenda. Tuve que retroceder algunas veces hasta tener un fragmento de la letra, buscarla en Google y dar con su identidad  —no, no se me ocurrió usar Shazam, es un recuerdo viejo y apenas lo estoy desempolvando—. Desde entonces está conmigo. Es una melodía tranquila, suave, gentil; la letra, por otra parte, es sensual, provocativa, insurgente (?)  —calma, no vuelvo a dar reseñas de canciones—, creando una antítesis muy... placentera. Sí, placentera es buena palabra. Yo disfruto escuchándola. Se queda conmigo bastante rato.

3. The Ultracheese de los Arctic Monkeys.

El álbum más reciente de los monitos puede describirse simplemente como música de ascensor —y está bien porque eso me gusta—, aunque puedo explayarme más y hablar del cine setentero, Italia y la ciencia ficción del siglo pasado, pero no va al caso. The Ultracheese es la última canción del álbum — de mis preferidas ojcurs— y suena a despedida, a modo bien personal es quizás la canción que más se asemeja a AM, el trabajo anterior. Según Genius, en la letra realmente se está comparando Alex (el vocalista la banda que también escribe las letras) del pasado con Alex del presente, analizando cómo están sus circunstancias en el ahora y su aislamiento del mundo debido a la fama. Desde que la escuché por primera vez me ha parecido una canción de amor, y quizás lo sea. ¿Les suena el amor propio?

4. Je te laisserai de mots de Patrick Watson.

A este punto de la lectura creo que se han armado una idea de mis gustos musicales. Otra canción triste y lenta, ¡yay! ¿Qué les puedo decir? En YouTube se encuentran unos videos muy lindos de ver —A MI GUSTO— que te incluyen la letra traducida o son un montaje de escenas de una película. Es una canción corta que apenas dice algo. A mí me hace sentir como que es de noche y estoy en el muelle de Santa Mónica —jamás he ido pero de tanto ver a mi mamá viendo sus películas cursis en ese lugar ya tengo una imagen armada en HD 4k— subida en un carrusel dando vueltas hasta que las luces se difuminan y la única certeza que hay es que estás viviendo.

5. Vals Poético de Natalia Lafourcade y Los Macorinos.

Mis gustos musicales este año pueden describirse como “abuela moderna en una relación tóxica con el internet”. Bastante específico, yo sé. Esta canción es un instrumental precioso, al parecer —lo acabo de leer en Wikipedia porque no sé todo y está bien— es un cover de Felipe Villanueva. A mí lo que me encanta del álbum son Los Macorinos, los guitarristas que acompañan a Natalia.

PONGAMOS MÁS CANCIONES SÍIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII.

Pasemos ahora a las canciones que lastimosamente no fueron elegidas por Spotify y tendrán que esperar otro año —donde las escucharé sin parar— hasta que se haga justicia. Es una lista breve, solo para dejarles picados con la curiosidad.

*Le Festin de Camille.

Mi yo del 2007 —o la del año en que salió Ratatouille, mi única neurona no quiere comprobar la info— se quedó con esta terrible sensación de vacío al final de la película cuando se alejaba la cámara del restaurante, enseñándote París, porque esta canción desconocida (pero bastante oh là là) sonaba de fondo. Desde entonces la sensación se mantiene; culpo a la canción, a que está en francés y no la entiendo —como algunas de BTS y otros coreanos que me hacen llorar alv—. Este año en mis aventuras de stalkeada, la encontré y dije omaiga es Ratatouille. No sé si entienden. AL FIN SUPE CÓMO SE LLAMABA. Y poco después encontré la letra traducida. Lloré amargamente. Quizás es la canción de mi vida en estos momentos, no sé. De todas maneras, es hermosa. Ya. Es todo.

En mis esfuerzos por culturizarme y no rezagarme únicamente con Feel Good Inc. y Clint Eastwood (por decir algo, no solo me puedo esas u.u), estuve escuchando algunos álbumes de Gorillaz, específicamente Humanz y The Now Now. Hallelujah Money fue la que más “se me quedó”. Creo que tengo un “soft spot” por aquello que suene mínimamente “coral” —repito: no más reseñas musicales—. Además la voz de Clementine se compenetra tan bien con el resto de la pieza, es que es un deleite escucharla. Vale la pena cerrar los ojos y solo existir en sus cuatro minutos de duración (sí, ya no tenía nada más que escribir, quiero mi sponsor :c).

Era 2011 y estaba independizándome de los gustos musicales de la casa. Sin hermano mayor, no tenía una guía por este sendero artístico que me dijera qué sí o qué no, o ALGO al menos. ¿Qué me quedaba? El internet, la vieja confiable. Conocí muchos mocosos pubertos por esos años, uno de ellos es Greyson. Me gustaba muchísimo. Tuve todo su primer álbum en mi iPod nano rosado chillón, hasta las canciones bonus. Si bien me tomé un descanso y dejé de seguirlo porque necesitaba RESPIRAR ALGO QUE NO FUERA POP ADOLESCENTE, regresé porque ambos crecimos y este bicho va con todo. Me enorgullece un montón. 

Boots es su sencillo más reciente. Current obsession y blablablá.

P.D. Este año sacó su segundo álbum Portraits, mi playlist tiene algunas canciones suyas. 

*Maniac de Conan Gray.

Conocí a Conan antes de que explotara su fama como cantante ¿indie? (!!1!!!). Me encantaba su estética y su contenido en el yutub. Hablar de él entonces me pone un poco recelosa porque quisiera tenerlo solo para mí. No obstante, también entiendo que está creciendo el cipote, va, se le han abierto muchas puertas y el chiquillo que conocí ya no está (aunque sigue ahí en esencia).

Como con Greyson, Maniac es su sencillo más reciente. Terriblemente pop.

Para esta canción YouTube se lleva todo el crédito. El video musical es una delicia visual. He notado también que la banda se preocupa mucho en ese aspecto para cada presentación, bailan o se visten a juego para que todo constituya una pieza artística por sí misma, como una exhibición andante.
