A Witcher 3 fic inspired by the Skellige werewolf quest.

Hurt/comfort. Some NSFW. Lots of talk of food and cooking.

He blinked at the sight before him. The werewolf was chained to the dungeon wall, snarling and biting at the air and struggling to get free, held back by thick manacles around his arms and wrists that were attached to hooks sunk in the brick wall. A long minute passed while the rabid creature clawed at nothing and howled in pain, and finally slumped back, panting.

“Who on earth—what happened?” Geralt looked around and listened with all his senses, but could hear no trace of anyone else nearby. He lowered his sword cautiously.

“Arhhh…you said…hrrr…not to attack…so I made sure… I couldn’t…”

Geralt looked around the place. A set of keys was on the floor, out of the werewolf’s range. The creature must have kicked it away after locking himself up in chains. “You damned fool,” Geralt said with feeling. “What if I hadn’t returned?” He almost hadn’t. He supposed that being chained up in darkness for all eternity was exactly what such a creature deserved, but even his jaded witcher heart twisted at the image.

“Had no choice…hrr… Had to trust you… Nothing but…hrrr…pain for me here…no way out, no end… To know that you might kill me… ahh hrrr…” He yanked at his chains again as another fit of inhuman rage came over him, then after a long struggle he let his limbs fall, subdued again. “It is…the only hope I have left,” he finished defeated, his gaze turned to the ground.

🙂 👂 Your Cruelly, Elvira (Cassandra Petersen, author & narrator) - basically a tell-all memoir, mostly remembrance and not a ton of introspection but fairly entertaining. I certainly didn’t realize quite how wild CP’s life BEFORE Elvira was; becoming Elvira was when she SETTLED DOWN. Respect that she was a self-admitted ‘starfucker’ in her wild 20s.

😍 Flowers in our Eyes series (cydonic) - 93K, Stucky, aka the house-flipper AU - reread of this lovely, fluffy story where Bucky flips houses and moves in next door to single-dad Steve. [main story is 88K, short sexy standalone epilogue is 5K)

🙂 Bookwyrm (KL Noone) - short story; the town witch protector goes to check out the big bad dragon who’s decided to settle there

😍 a soldier (who carries a mighty sword) (ghostinthelibrary) - 93K, The Witcher; Geralt/Eskel/Jaskier arranged marriage AU - love to see a polycule instead of a ‘love triangle’ + some nice political chicanery

🙂 Madison Square Murders (Momento Mori #1) (C.S. Poe) - still love a Poe mystery & characters and I’ll definitely be returning to Larkin & Doyle. I appreciate that she tried to mitigate having cop protags by having them be cold case & artist, respectively. Don’t love that she again used the ‘one MC’s relationship is bad and ending and this new love will make him realize it’ thing again. But both of those things didn’t outweigh all the rest of the stuff that I absolutely did greatly enjoy about this.

🙂 👂 A Psalm for the Wild-Built (Monk & Robot #1) (Becky Chambers, author; Emmett Grosland, narrator) - novella - no plot, just vibes and tea and some existential thinking on the meaning of existence. 

😍 The Librarian!Bitty Fics series (marswithghosts) - 156K, Check Please! (107 main fic, zimbits; 48K, parse/omc) - I stayed up too late reading the main fic. It's solid characterizations & a good plot with just enough believable angst and then, of course, a happy ending. Mad respect to this author because I normally am not big on kent parson but here I was, totally invested in this iteration's emotional growth!

😍 Our House, In The Middle Of Our Street (Clocks) - 51K, Cherik - no powers AU - "Charles is a social worker who fosters troubled kids, and one day he meets Erik, an ex-convict, who reluctantly agrees to stay for only a while, but ends up staying for good and helping Charles to raise the kids. Awkward parenting ensues."

Year End Writing Round-up

I tumbled into Witcher fandom in 2020, as is obvious by my writing output. But it’s also important to note that this has been my most productive year EVER in the fic-writing department: 260,000 words, more than in the last five years combined. And yes, part of that’s the pandemic, and part of it is media inspiration (thanks, Witcher!), but I’d say the majority of it is the fandom. 

Witcher readers have been very generous with comments and excitement and enthusiasm, and the Discord communities have been great. People engaging with my work is hugely motivating. So thanks to everyone who’s commented, kudos’d, squeed with me in Discord, sent me an excited Tumblr ask, rec’d my work, left an all-caps tag on your AO3 bookmark or rec, or reblogged stuff on Tumblr. When Chireadan opens the door of their respectable townhouse with a shop front to Jaskier’s knock, it’s with a huge smile that goes shy on the edges once his eyes rest on Geralt. He tries to look relaxed, less intimidating, and hopes him holding on to Jaskier’s hand helps a bit.

Jaskier is quick to hug Chireadan close with his unoccupied arm, stretching his connection to Geralt as he remains standing on the threshold while they partake in their welcome ritual of cheek kisses and endearment exchange. phone sex AU with fem!jaskier yennskier and geraskier--i already have a couple scenes written and it’s an AU of a movie so the plot isn’t too hard, but god it would be long

love spell gone wrong fic--this is probably dead but i DO have a couple thousand words written and i wouldn’t mind getting back to it

pre-series geralt/OMC tragic romance--the story of my heart, the one i think about when i’m falling asleep, but god it would be so hard to write and idk if anyone would read it

plus of course, whatever probably-pornographic fic i end up writing on a whim while procrastinating on the threequel, as is now tradition for this series (fully 5 of my 11 witcher fics were written while putting off working on either the kidfic or the sequel and they are all DEEP idfic)

oh wait i forgot, between 3 and 4 is a sequel to “warm you like the sunshine” about geralt and jaskier’s journey to learn how to do elaborate rope bondage....that’s definitely in the running (they consult sailors, soldiers, specialized brothels, and sometimes the specialized brothels employ ex-sailors and ex-soldiers for this specific purpose, and it would have a scene where an expert puts geralt in fancy bondage to demonstrate and geralt REALLY likes it, and then a scene where they go to a fancy sex club/brothel that has, like, hardware on the walls and ceiling, and geralt puts jaskier in something elaborate and does a partial suspension and it is extremely satisfying for them both) (there’s also a scene where an expert, possibly the same one, puts jaskier in fancy bondage to demonstrate to geralt, and geralt is working very hard to pay attention to how the ropes and knots go, and not to jaskier getting so turned on he can barely breathe) (also come to think of it this is probably also the story of geralt finally admitting that he wants to sub for jaskier too, bc he wouldn’t let himself ask for it bc he’s stuck in this mindset that he’s doing this for jaskier, giving him what he needs, and geralt’s needs, much less wants, don’t figure into it...and then jaskier sees how much geralt likes being tied up and is like “there are gonna be some Changes around here”)

“Now come here, Chireadan,” Jaskier says and hugs him right where he is in his partner’s arms and presses a firm kiss to his cheek. He does it quite in the same manner as he did as a welcome greeting, only now he’s lingering and then he stumbles into them, losing his balance. Elaedres is quick to catch him with an arm around his middle, but Jaskier is also instinctively reaching out for Geralt, which is why all four of them find themselves in an awkward embrace.

For a moment, none of them moves.
