more unpopular kate/kathony (kanthony?) opinions! - bridgerton 2.07 review
1. I’m watching this like, wow Edwina doesn’t get a happy ending. Hell, even in the Directors’ Cut of LOTR, Eowyn gets with Faramir!
2. Oh great, is Kate going to masturbate to the memory of her kissing Anthony the Mouse?
3. She looks so stiff in that kiss though.
4. Yes.
5. This entire situation reminds me of this part of Poor Unfortunate Souls
Tumblr media Tumblr media
6. They’re so going to change the lyrics in the live action. Anyway, off-topic.
7. And Kate just looks annoyed that Edwina won’t talk to her rather than contrite.
8. I just find the Bridgerton family extremely annoying.
9. “Reputation! Reputation!” Oh my god, Anthony is a man, he’ll be FINE.
10. “I give credit to your imagination, Miss Danbury, a bigger story I cannot foresee.” Lmao, maybe don’t speak, Kate?
11. AND THEY GAZE AT EACH OTHER ACROSS THE PROMENADE BECAUSE THEY ARE IN LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE.
12. Even though Edwina is right there and all of the ton is watching because looooooooooooooooooooove.
13. I just don’t have time for Olitz-like ships.
14. This Eloise scene is long.
15.  “A ball.” Ha, Edwina’s eye roll, she deserves her own show.
16. NOW THAT ANTHONY IS NO LONGER LIVING A LIE, THE DOG FINDS HIM SUITABLE AND DOGS ARE GREAT JUDGES OF CHARACTER. TRUE LOVE WILL ALWAYS SET YOU FREE.
17. Lmao, sorry, I find this love story insufferable.
18. omg guyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyys, he just can’t HELP but stare at her
Tumblr media
19. I just feel like Edwina deserves to do the Regency version of this to Anthony
Tumblr media
20. Their love and attraction is SO POWERFUL that they’ll have to stay on OTHER SIDES OF THE ROOM DURING THE BALL.
21. Ugh.
22. I don’t know if I can live through another Kathony dance.
23. Derry Girls Clare should just be Belle.
24. Mouse Man Mouse Man
Tumblr media
25. HE GOT A WHIFF OF HER PERFUME AND NOW HE IS IN HEAVEN, RELISHING THE SCENT OF HER.
26. And this is the other thing too, Kate is extremely passive. Like, OK Edwina doesn’t want to talk to her but if she’s supposed to want her happiness more than anything, if this is supposed to be killing her inside, then at least try to make amends but she’s just standing around looking wooden and maybe sometimes catching Anthony’s eye.
27. Oh jesus christ are eloise and whatshisface going to kiss now that they’re arguing?
28. No. Good.
29.
Tumblr media
I mean has it though?
30. “I am reaping the consequences of destroying it” girl, you’re masturbating in bed. Like just be HONEST.
31.  “Happy endings do not exist, Kate” well, not for you, Edwina, but they will for her.
32. Anthony is so fucking shameless.
33. “We should be ashamed of what we did” and there’s going to be a speech about how he’s not ashamed or how she’s not ashamed, a Delena “I’m not sorry” speech. I don’t care.
34. WHY is Colin a character? WHAT DOES HE DO.
35. He gives sooooooooooo much more than she does. He carries them, honestly.
35. Oh yes, sniping and arguing, which is just their foreplay. I’m bored. We’ve done this already.
36. Yes, yes, consume
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I feel like the only time I’ve ever been like I get it, they didn’t even use the world consume
Tumblr media
37. Oh they do make him do the “Do you think I want to be in this position” McDreamy “DO YOU THINK I WANT TO LOOK AT YOU”  the more they drag this out, the more impatient I become and not in the way they want.  I feel like Garrett from Superstore but instead of affair it’s get together
Tumblr media
38. Anthony: I’ve lived my life for my family. Kate: OMG SAME. Me
Tumblr media
I had to see it. All I’ve seen is both of you complain.
39. I don’t think a stylized sex scene worked here but that’s just a personal preference, if they’re all like “YOU CONSUME ME” “I CAN’T ESCAPE YOU” “I LIVE FOR MY FAMILY LET’S LIVE FOR OURSELVES” and they kiss and he fingers her then he’s all i’ll stop and she’s like don’t, I want to see/hear the frenzy, the heavy breathing, I want it to seem as organic as possible, like I would want a Shameless sex scene at least at first and then they can do the stylistic one during round 2 or something
40. KATE. I’M SICK OF THIS.
Tumblr media
You fucked him. OWN IT. Because I don’t find the “journey” to her just allowing herself to be happy well executed at all because they don’t delve into Kate (or any of the characters) enough for this to be anything other than by-the-numbers and superficial so this just comes across as disingenuous and that’s the other problem with stylized sex scenes, they’re deliberate and don’t give off the impression of impulsivity or the heat of the moment so I’m just like IT’S TOO LATE FOR THIS.
41. This is why I like Cersei-like characters they just fucking own it.
42. AND ANTHONY IS SUCH. A DICK.
43. OH NO, SHE’S GALLOPING IN THE RAIN.
44. Lmao, I am not watching anything Bridgerton EVER again.
45. It’s done.

CMW2/Trumpetnista: Shattering Expectations (148/?)
Tumblr media
Summary from FFN: “Ideally, a Presidency lasts 8 years. Ideally, a marriage lasts 50. 8 years of a job, even the highest job in the Land is not worth 42 years of misery…”;“What kind of coward was I to marry her and not wait for you to show up…why didn’t I meet you sooner…"These two lines will be at the core of my latest AU Olitz fic;Rated for language and spice;7th in my 2013 SSS Project
Teaser from Chapter 148: "Is she gone?"
Olivia laughed and replied patiently, "Yes, Fitzgerald, she's gone."
"Praise the Lord."
"Fitz!"
"Don't "Fitz" me, little woman. You're in the same boat as I am, even if you and Mellie managed to become some type of friends in the end."
"She once told me that I was the closest thing she had to a best friend in the world."
"Really?"
"Mm-hm."
"How did you even do that?"
"I don't know. Magic, maybe?"
Disclaimer for the full story: “Honestly, it’s not mine!”
A/N #2: I know this chapter is hella short (sorry guys! I'll make up for it with D.D. #40!) but I wanted to post this before the new episode and I'm waiting for 703 because I think whatever good Fitz is doing in it will be a part of the last big Arc, that and something dope with Susan Ross because I love her! Ross vs. Vargas, maybe? That could work...
Two Weeks Later...
"You didn't have to come. I know you're busy with the kids and everything..."
"I had time. So, where are you going?"
"Home for a while and then off to Europe. I've always wanted to go backpacking through Europe but I never had the time. Now, I've got all the time in the world. I can go backpacking, skydiving...hell, I can even take up knitting like my nana!"
"Mellie..."
"It's okay, Olivia."
"Is it really?"
"Well...yeah. I'm free. I can...I can do whatever I want. For the first time ever, I can do whatever I want without having to worry about some man or politics...it's my time. I...it's my time, Olivia."
"It is. I'm sorry that it took so long for you to be cleared for travel."
"Don't be. I was the fiancée of one of the worst traitors in American history. They had to make sure that I wasn't going to try anything. Say goodbye to Fitz for me?"
"I will. Safe journey, Mellie. Be happy."
"...keep having a good life, Olivia. You deserve it."
It was a bright and sunny morning, perfect for flying. As the private jet headed towards the runway, Olivia began to wave and she smiled as Mellie waved back, neatly wrapping up their time together. It was highly unlikely that she would see Mellie again but if she did, Olivia would welcome her as a friend. Mellie's actions in exposing Nichols as the traitor he was, in warning her and Fitz about the West Angolan Conspiracy had removed the last bits of enmity between them. Well, that and the passing of time. They had all grown up and with maturity came perspective on both of their ends. They had found common ground, something that Olivia would've never thought possible.
Never say never.
Once the plane was safely in the air, Olivia pressed the 1st speed dial of her phone and waited for...
"Is she gone?"
Her husband's laughter was warm in her ear and Olivia sighed, relaxing into the plush leather of the backseat and opening the purple binder. The purple binder was their Vermont binder, full of blueprints, contacts, and ideas for their new home. Construction had started after election night and it was coming along nicely. The main house was finished, as was the guest house, only needing to be furnished. The main focus now establishing the orchard. Fitz wanted to learn how to make jam, fresh jams and preserves to sell at the local farmer's market. He was already pretty good at it. The mango chutney had turned out well, albeit much spicier than he originally intended and the strawberry jam had been delicious, perfect for scones and sandwiches...
"What do you think about adding an apiary to the house?"
"I like that idea. You're going to be a beekeeper, Livvie?"
"My great-grandfather Gregory used to do it. We'd go down to visit him every summer until he passed away and he taught me the basics."
The silence on the other end was loaded and Olivia pursed her lips against a laugh.
"...you're thinking about me covered in nothing but fresh honey, aren't you?"
"May-be..."
"You are shameless!"
"You knew what I was about when you let me marry you."
"I did. Okay, Mister, I'm open to the idea but you're the one who's going to have to clean up the mess afterwards. I'm not doing it."
"...you won't be able to walk afterwards, much less clean anything. Are you busy for the rest of the day?"
"Why do you ask?"
She knew why. She knew and full damned well why. She just wanted to mess with him.
"I don't know...you tell me..."
"Are you propositioning me, Mr. President? I don't know if that sort of behavior is becoming of your office..."
"Normally, it isn't but this isn't a normal situation, Madame First Lady. Are you busy?"
"...I will be. Meet me in our Spot when I get back."

On Fitz and his lil' friends...
Ya gotta have friieeeeeends...
...I’m not sure I like the him seeking a friendship with Kenny without the presence of Liv. It seems as though he’s trying to keep Liv close—though he says different. ...As for the flower plant, I remember Olitz talking about the different types and what they represent. He might have left her flowers that represent an apology because she blames him for basically ruining her relationship—which is absurd. --Guest/@edelineSchneid3
I know you feel differently about the flowers after Olivia's episode, but I al so hope you now feel differently about Fitz and Kenny? I don't think Fitz was overstepping by establishing friendship with Kenny. Olivia doesn't own Kenny, nor does she own Fitz. These are autonomous people. And I think Fitz tried to be clear when he went to Kenny that his wish for friendship was not a consolation prize. That's why I had Kenny put up his defences at first. He didn't want to be used. I hope I conveyed that they forged friendship in a hopeless place in both their lives, and turned it into something that is really meaningful in the present storyline (we'll see more). Olivia and Fitz come to have individual friendships with Kenny but also have a relationship with him as a couple (which episode 9 points to).
I loved that he chose to be vulnerable and confide in Alvin. Alvin seems a good choice of confidant, and Fitz needs an emotional support system. He's all alone the poor guy! With his fucked up Dad and Olivia running away. I'm glad he's making some good friends and is getting his own life. It's awesome. ...
His reunion with Kenny was sooooo sweet! And so layered. Man! It never occurred to me that Kenny would actually miss Fitz and be hurt that he stopped coming to the lounge. Or that watching Olitz fall in love would make him yearn for his own lost love, or to feel that love again with someone new. But of course! Brock makes sense now. I am totally here for the Fenny bromance. I wanna read all about it. They are adorable.--@aprillea
Thank you for highlighting the moments between Fitz and Alvin and Fitz and Kenny. One of the themes for Fitz's episode was about the different ways men interact with each other (family, friends, professional, even romantic). I wanted to show different types of connection between men, as well as what it looks like when men forge adult friendships that aren't based in sports or performative 'bro' stuff.
it's nice to see an Olitz writer tackle how Fitz's straight, cis, white male blinders impact the way he treats others. I really enjoy the overarching commentary on the challenges of interracial friendships and romantic relationships. ...I also really appreciate that you don't shy away from topics like Big Jerry's racism and the unspoken hurdles Fitz faces teaching at an HBCU.--@jilyandbambi
Thanks :). I really wanted to get BJ's racism just right lol. Fitz's blinders are at their worst when he's being very self-indulgent--either pain or pride. But, I enjoy wearing in real issues where I can...so long as it feels authentic to me. And I think Fitz needs a way to learn about blackness that doesn't leave it up to Liv.
Also I hope Kenny can find love again not only with just anyone, but someone who can live and love openly and freely as well. He deserves that happiness!--@kmack348
I feel like I always leave the same review, so here it is again: I love your writing. The way you write Kenney, the dialogue that you weave, everything flows so effortlessly and is a joy to read.--@kelleekellkell
I want Kenny to find love again, too. We'll see if he's open to it when we get back to the present timeline.
Kelleekellkell: you could literally cut and paste the same review for each episode and I'd still be grateful. Just say what's on your heart, Boo. I appreciate it. And I LOVE that you love Kenny so much. As the first of a growing cadre of OCs, it means a lot.
Tumblr media
Was Kenny too harsh with him [Fitz]? Maybe. But Kenny is broken too and maybe the best person to help Fitz get his act together because at least his love still walking the earth. I'll see what happens.--@ScandalOnica
Kenny was harsh, and I think he recognised that. That's just the way it is sometimes. But, as you said, he was hurting and needed someone but could not admit that. Fitz piling on his problems just wasn't helpful when Kenny was internally dealing with grief that he was keeping to himself. But, I think you're right that they could help each other if they could empathise with what the other is going through.
Oh, Kenny. He broke my heart in this chapter, hearing about what happened with Tariq. It also sheds more light onto why he was so heated with Fitz in pt. 1 of Ep11, this time of year has to be really painful for him. I enjoy Kenny as the Greek Chorus of the main storyline, but giving him a backstory and fleshing him out as a character in his own right-again-adds to the immersion. Also, I stand by my statement that Kenny deserves better than Brock. I think he would do better with a more emotionally mature partner, he does enough emotional labor!--@jilyandbambi
You can thank ScandalOnica for Kenny becoming more fleshed out. She wrote a beautiful thought about his penchant for being a source for others instead of pursuing his heart's desires. She wondered if, perhaps, this was due to his past experiences. I thought about it, and I wondered why he was with Brock in the present storyline. What's he trying to prove or accomplish? When I started writing Fitz's chapter, it felt like Kenny was this 'B' story that then dovetails with Fitz's narrative. That they could help each other. As I've said before, I did not know how much Kenny was going to be present when I introduced him. But since you guys got attached, I've added more.
As for Brock, I don't disagree with you ;).

The Crossover Review
Tumblr media
Well, It’s been a while since i’ve been on tumblr but I can say that I am completely and utterly moved by this crossover episode that discussed racism, social reform, family and second chances.
Second Chances:
As i’ve discussed thoroughly on twitter with my reviews. The major arch of this final season is redemption. We’ve seen our protagonist plunge into the darkness of life and just when all hope seems lost she emerges clearly damaged but alive. This is where we find Olivia Pope.
Tumblr media
Olivia is physically and metaphorically ‘suiting’ up to combat the day just like she use to when she was a gladiator and Chief of Staff only she’s clearly burdened by her past but nevertheless she faces herself in the mirror something she has failed to do much of this season. This moment echoes Olivia’s own desires to face herself in the mirror and for once not be frightened by what she sees.
Tumblr media
As I was discussing Olivia’s moment with herself @cj_tvguy brought up an interesting tidbit that I caught, this parallels to Defiance, only this time the outcome is far more severe and real. Their is no family, no gladiators, no job, no jake -there are no obstructions this time to excuse Olivia’s behavior or inability to work within. It’s been over a couple of months since Olivia left the white house and finally for the first time we see her alone. Interesting thing about karma is that David was fired after defiance and became a school teacher, oddly familiar to Olivia’s own circumstances but the good news is that David went on to become The Attorney General.
Annalise came to Olivia Pope (The Gladiator, The Fixer, The Powerhouse) for help on changing this world and Olivia clearly struggles with agreeing to this fight as she feels she is no longer the person Annalise needs her to be, but after  viewing each case thoroughly, Olivia looks into the person behind the lawsuit and finds Annalise’s extensive history. Because this show always does best by displaying Olivia’s thoughts through her clients we see Olivia refuse Annalise and call her a ‘hot mess’ because of her past she refuses to give to Annalise a chance but midway through the hallway of Annalise’s hotel room she turns around and goes back to her room and tells Annalise she will help her under one condition.
Tumblr media
Why does Olivia agree to help Annalise? Because she sees herself in her? Because she would like a second chance if someone offered it to her? Maybe those improperly imprisioned deserve to have a second chance?Perhaps it is all of those things that drove Olivia to agree. Now, while Olivia projected and was the harshest to Annalise (herself) she did agree to help and that requires being active, no longer hiding in the darkness of one’s fear. Taking on this lawsuit requires facing her past, her present and her future- Olivia will have to encounter those she loves and those she’s wronged in order to do some good.
Tumblr media
The first person Olivia goes to for help is Fitz. As I said, Fitz was cold and emotionally distant from Olivia keeping obvious boundaries with her, rightfully.  Olivia has to understand the ramification of her actions; consequences that has went unattested too. Boundaries had to be placed in order for Olivia to understand the damage she has done, and for this I commend Fitz for helping and supporting Olivia but remaining at a safe distance.
Tumblr media
The White jacket is a reminder to both Olivia and Fitz of their shared value to save the world. Changing the world is something fundamental to Olivia and FItz’s core values-it was how they first connected and fell in love~ by this calling to help and scope the world into something real and true. Olivia wearing white is her subtle way of trying to be the person Fitz fell in love with  but the problem is that Olivia is no longer that person and Fitz is no longer the same man. Shonda has effectively destroyed our preconceived ideas regarding  olitz and has created something with a possibility of a real future.
This episode was a testament to Olivia’s strength and will to not simply survive but to actually and finally live. No one trusted or believed Olivia to be sincere when she began fighting for this social reform lawsuit, those who claim to know her all saw this as a tool to once again regain power. Mellie, Jake, Quinn, Abby, they all looked at Olivia’s past (the same way Olivia looked at Annalise’s) and saw that she was once again aiming to reclaim her throne, they judged Olivia not based on her actions or merit but her sins and past.
Every step Olivia made was a step towards reform. Agreeing to help Annalise was a form of helping Olivia as she had to confront pieces of her past (mellie, quinn), her present (annalise ) and her future (Fitz and Ophelia)
 Past:
Olivia knew agreeing to help would require humility and facing those she’s wronged. Olivia meets with Fitz first and though he’s distant he supports and agrees with Olivia and sets up a meeting with Mellie and of course, Mellie made sure to have Jake’s trifling ass in on the meeting, but Mellie quickly refuses to support this case with a lame excuse of it not being the “right time.”
Tumblr media
Olivia holds a private conversation with Mellie and ask that she reconsiders and not punish innocent people because she has wronged her but Mellie refuses and tells Olivia that if she goes up against the white house she will now be an ‘adversary’ to the white house. Olivia remarks that it wouldn’t be her ‘first time’
Tumblr media
Olivia could have easily left with her tail between her legs and went back to her teaching gig but she opted not too instead she chose to make an active decision to remain firm in her beliefs and in many ways prove them and herself wrong but man did they put baby girl through the ringer. Mellie calls her dog to use QPA to destroy Olivia and leak that she was actually fired, in other words the more Olivia tried to do the right thing the more resistants she had.
With Jake going to Quinn on help of ruining Olivia for good, I felt much anger and annoyance but then again Quinn has a right to be upset with Olivia considering she could have killed her and her child and not to mention the innocent lives she took. But Quinn and everyone else has been so focused on Olivia that she’s forgotten the person she once was, what QPA’S mission statement was about. With Quinn clearly in opposition of her, Olivia faces Quinn and reminds her about why she took over QPA. As Olivia walks away from Quinn she’s clearly shaken by the encounter but it doesn’t deter her from continuing to walk this path. It’s coming down to those final moments where Olivia must decide, who she is, where she is going and who she wants to be.
Present:
Tumblr media
Do you see how toxic that white house is? How toxic mellivia is? It’s a clear juxtaposition of Olivia and Annalise’s scenes and melivia. Mellie only liked what Olivia did for her which goes back to what Maya said ‘why are you worried about Mellie, she isn’t worried about you?’ Olivia and Annalise are a true representation of black girl magic and sisterhood; you call each other out on the others hypocrisy but you also uplift and encourage the other to excel. When Annalise was at her lowest, Olivia was at her highest, like the gladiator she is, Olivia took off her shoes and got on the floor with Annalise. Olivia has no idea how inspirational and powerful she truly is. When Michaela told Annalise about the women with power and who has a seat at the table, chills formed over my body, and I was as giddy as Michaela when she saw Olivia Pope. That’s the thing about Olivia, she has no idea just how valuable and magically she is, young black girls look to her as inspiration, someone who represents them in the world. I just wish Olivia knew how profoundly remarkable she is.
Tumblr media
Olivia and Annalise were complete and utter magic to watch on my screen. Truly breathtaking capture of two alpha females both equally accomplished and fatally flaw, claw and scratch to reach the pinnacle that is the Supreme Court. Like many we judge others based on their outside appearance, and Olivia did the same to Annalise. In regards to Annalise, Olivia was most ruthless as Annalise created the perfect mirror to Olivia’s self.
Tumblr media
The salon scene is a powerful moment of tv, just real brutal honesty. And for the first time we are seeing Olivia act like a person, with big rollers in her hair she’s vulnerable, with her armor off she’s laughing and conversing with the black hairstylist and Annalise until her secrets out and now she’s exposed to Annalise that she is in fact the reason why Mellie refused to support them. Both women read the other and Annalise scalped Olivia as she highlights Olivia’s own wealthy upbringing (rowan remarked this his daughter went to school with kings and queens) and attempting to think they are the same because she has black skin when Olivia has had every advantage to excel when others like Annalise had to work. But the conversation is true and real, black people and particularly black women are the most cruel to one another as we find each other to be our competition instead of seeing them as an ally. And we all have encountered a black person who acts superior to others of their own kind. Olivia is siddity and arrogant and we often criticizes Fitz’s upbringing for being rich, wealthy and white but we don’t acknowledge others own entitlement *mellie*
I thought I lived but watching Olivia Pope channel her Whitley Gilbert was the greatest  thing I’ve ever seen. She is so unapologetically bad and bojuee that I simply can’t. Olivia disrespected the mega bus, and bragged about her siddity ass unlimited platinum credit card and called Anna Mae a ‘broke ass’, my ass trying not to laugh at Olivia’s disrespectful ass
Tumblr media
Why is she like this? Why do I love her as much as I can’t stand her? I just...I don’t know. Did anyone notice that this was the only time we really saw Olivia spit fire with fire? The fight was beyond brutal yet what Olivia needed to see and know about herself. Shonda is unraveling the very fabric of Olivia Pope and leaving only her core. Well done Shonda.
Olivia had no idea who Annalise was, Marcus spoke so highly of the top defense lawyer of Philly and Olivia knows nothing of her or about her. What Shonda has done is actually truly brilliant as she has exposed the parts of Olivia  character that are questionable and has forced not only Olivia but ourselves to view how we treat one another and ourselves. Do we know about our black brother and sisters making the country better, or the discoveries black people have found? Marcus paints the story clear, we must come together and support one another otherwise we all fail.
Projection and deflection are powerful tools Olivia has in her arsenal that she uses in times of strife and difficulty, every time Annalise opened her mouth, Olivia would judge her and say all the things she wishes to say to herself, yet as the episode progressed we saw Olivia listening more and acting less. When Annalise recommended that she be a part of the interview and Olivia opted to share the spotlight, yes. There’s enough room for them both to shine and excel, Olivia learned a thing or two about humility and while the world was targeting her and those she loved were rooting for her to fall she soar. Olivia didn’t lie, she wasn't spinning, she owned her truth as it is her greatest weapon and changed the story back to what matters~those improperly imprisoned.
Future:
Tumblr media
Our past is everything we was. Our present is everything we are. Our future is everything we can possible be.The more we run from our destiny the closer we are to it.
Tumblr media
Olivia and Annalise’s first time meeting was near identical to how Olivia and Fitz first met. And as Annalise saw through Olivia’s crap, Olivia became enraged and swarmed to FItz’s office venting about Annalise and how she needs to return back to Philadelphia almost eerily similar to how Fitz told Cyrus to fire Olivia for exposing and seeing through him. Or the countless times Olivia attempted to handle and fix Annalise with Annalise mirroring FItz’s own words when Olivia tried to handle him. While this episode reintroduced us to Olivia it also reintroduced Olitz in a way that has my heart fluttering and my stomach bubbling at the possibility of them.
The more Olivia fought she failed; Mellie, Quinn, the media, “Annalise” (herself) all  attempted to break someone who was honestly trying to do the right thing. Broken and down on her luck she’s clearly conflicted and upset and questioning why she even agreed to help until he walks in.
When Fitz begins to ask Olivia what’s wrong she shuts him down and he moves to leave but Olivia begins to speak and it’s there that she tells Fitz that she’s trying to be someone she no longer is, that she is no longer the person he ‘loves’ but Fitz differs again questioning Olivia as to who she is? And more importantly where in the hell is Olivia Pope?
Tumblr media
Once again paralleling when she asked Fitz the same question (2x11). Being an outsider isn’t new to Olivia, she’s been hated by the media and others and she always sailed through the storm yet this time she can’t because she feels ineffective without her white house, and her gladiators. Those customs were such important pieces of the Olivia Pope armor that she doesn’t know how to define herself outside of them. She’s anchorless, simply floating without a sense of direction until Fitz reminds her of the person she’s always been.
Tumblr media
When Olivia first came to Fitz for help, she told him that she needs his help to change the world and that he created this institute to make a difference and while it seemed as though Fitz wasn’t listening he very much was as he uses Olivia’s own words to inspire her to fight and remember who she is.
Tumblr media
Saving a person doesn’t always require an emergency event. Sometimes a person just needs to see someone with a gentle heart, a pretty smile and a dash of hope to remind them of who they are. Power does not define a person’s ability to achieve. The white house is the biggest illusion power, the levels of deception of personal gains that come with acquiring that office is not something to be proud of or to gloat about. Olivia was always strong and powerful, she made the white house, the white house did not make her~it is why Mellie, Jake and Quinn worked so aimlessly to bring her down. One black woman is more fierce than an army of men. The trauma and emotional suffering she endured were not to prove her worth and strength, it was a warning. With the guilt and regret weighing heavily on her, Olivia was never truly herself until Fitz dusted her off and encouraged her to continue this pursuit of justice. That’s the thing, sometimes we don’t get what we want but we always end up getting what we need, and what Olivia needed was faith that all of this wasn’t for nothing, and that she wouldn’t have to do this alone.
Tumblr media
Olivia tries to maintain her poise, but it has proven more difficult with each passing. Their eyes met and you can see her heart breaking and healing at the realization that despite everything she has said and done, he still sees her. For the first time in a long time, Olivia felt a tangible sensation she swore was lost long ago.
Hope.
When the time came for Olivia to meet the supreme court judge, she had the envelope to blackmail him into submission but she didn’t. With the folder in her hand Olivia gave the judge everything she had on his file, this time Olivia’s going to be honorable with hopes that the judge will be as well.
Ophelia and Olivia:
Tumblr media
Annalise, bringing her family to D.C to watch and support her was an honest and true representation of family and more importantly of a black family something Olivai hasn’t felt nor seen since she was twelve. When their practice got cut short because Ophelia wanted Annalise to eat, Olivia saw the moment as ‘weak’ and a ‘distraction’ from the real goal but Annalise calmly and effectively told Olivia the importance of family. What is the point of this without sharing the glory with those who love and support you? This is something Olivia needed to see with her own eyes; representation, family. Rowan’s hold on Olivia is so deeply embedded in her DNA that she viewed a parents joy and happiness for their child as a sign of weakness...It’s honestly sad.
While Annalise was busy fighting the supreme court, Olivia too was fighting her own demons; family. Something she has denied herself for years. Ophelia accidentally spilled her soup on Olivia and quickly took her to restroom to help Olivia clean up the mess physically and metaphorically, call it mothers intuition but Ophelia looked at Olivia and saw right through her facade, how she’s on the tv cleaning up the man president’s problems and the female president’s problems but while cleaning everyone else’s mess she forgot about herself. Ophelia’s words mirror Maya’s but Olivia wasn’t ready at the time and she didn’t view Maya as being a mother. Clearly moved by a mothers love, Olivia grabs Ophelia’s hands and tells her ‘she’s just being a good mom.’  Take care of you first; Olivia has been the mother taking care of everyone else that she has neglected herself and now like Ophelia she’s the one with the mess. There is an attention to hope, restoration and redemption that is radiating.
Tumblr media
By no means is Olivia magically healed, baby girl still has more work to do on herself as we all do, but as the episode comes to an end, I believe Olivia and Annalise took something from the other that rings true to the value of black girl magic. Olivia began to listen and see human contact as a strength and Annalise learned to find strength within to overcome.
Tumblr media
As the episode comes to an end we find Olivia with her back turned talking to Fitz on the phone, we haven’t seen her smile and laugh this brightly in some time and notice the subtle change in wardrobe as the story progressed. Though Olivia has her work cut out this was mostly certainly a promising first start as Olivia begins to repair herself and her relationships.
My heart is still soaring from this episode.
Until Next Time...Muse

Olake... Affair
I’d like to share thoughts expressed in my Facebook group concerning the disappointment many are feeling about Jake and Olivia engaging within an affair:
“We all have so much to talk about! I wasn't ready for this; Shonda caught me off guard in a few important ways. But, it's good since it allowed me to see things a bit more clearly and realistically, mainly with Olivia. There is so much to say about her, on different levels, but before digging into this fantastic episode... Y'all, I think it's high time we begin to embrace Olivia, Jake, Olake, even Rowan for exactly who they are, which I don't believe I have been. I thought I was, to the fullest, but I really haven't been. I have an unusual high tolerance for Olake's crazy - they are indeed a crazy couple! - and have never once written either one of them off after everything we've witnessed, individually as well as a pair. However, even I have a way of attempting to adjust them to try and fit them into something I can accept when they stray from what is acceptable. Or, hope that they won't break a particular societal norm rule, even knowing they've already charged through many others. For instance, Jake having an affair with Olivia. I didn't want it to happen, didn't want to see it, hoped sex would come after divorce; no adultery. They are too good for that, and Vanessa has already been through enough; he killed her father for goodness sakes! But, then, it dawned on me today like never before.... Jake killed her father! In mulling on the brutal reality of this without attempting to dress it up, an Olitzer's post I read yesterday - hopefully she doesn't mind me posting it here, because I'm gonna - popped into my mind to further guide me into what I've now settled on with them:
"Yall I have an announcement 🗣🗣🗣🗣 JAKE'S MARRIAGE IS NOT REAL!!!!! I REPEAT JAKES MARRIAGE IS NOT REAL!!! HE NEVER LOVED HER, HELL HE DIDNT EVEN LIKE HER, HE ONLY MARRIED HER TO GAIN ACCESS TO HER MONEY....IT WAS ALL A PLOY... HE KILLED HER FATHER AS A PART OF THAT PLOY. STOP WITH THE "She's sleeping with someone else's husband again" cause again... for the people in the back... JAKE'S MARRIAGE IS NOT REAL."
An unusual Olitzer since all the one's I've come across thus far attempt to hold his "marriage" over his head as legitimate, as if none of us know the score! I then thought about Jake's words to Olivia about what he was taught to do under B613, just a quick reminder:
"He will reel you in with a trail of warmth and kindness. He will hold you in his arms and tell you that he loves you. And, once you are comfortable, once you feel safe, he will take everything that matters from you, and he will leave you with nothing. He will break your bones and step over your body on his way out. Do you know how I know that? Because that's what he taught ME to do...
Rowan: "First they'll smile, be warm, sympathetic, on your side, letting you know that they will fight for you, they will lull you into a false sense of security. And then, once your belly is exposed, they will gut you and everyone you know. And they will be swift about it. And, by the time you should be fighting back, well, you're already bleeding to death!"
BUUUUT.... we didn't want Jake having an affair, because it wasn't the right thing to do. It didn't look good, it wasn't nice at all. It looked mean after all that happened to poor Vanessa, and we wanted him to be considerate of both women in making sure to get a divorce first... The man who killed his father-in-law already to gain access to his wife's inheritance and nearly wrapped his fingers around her throat. "Liquor cabinet is that way." Please, be faithful in this marriage and get divorced first... All Shonda did was spell out some of what B613 does to it's victims through Vanessa Moss and her father; she spelled out what Jake described he was taught to do - and has done plenty of times! - to prior victims. The angel of death for many! I'd say Vanessa is one of the lucky ones in still being alive. This is not a real marriage; Jake is an impostor there just as much as both of them are impostors walking the halls of the WH together in this season's 1st episode! It's a tool, a resource, a cover, a mission, theater, stealing; it's B613. They were already utilizing her bank account prior to marriage! Jake & Olivia are ruthless monsters, predators, when necessary; the ONLY difference between Jake and Russell is that Jake fell in love with his mission, nothing else. They are dangerous by nature! They are not normal, but abnormal; Rowan's offspring. ROWAN'S offspring. I remember, prior to the episode premier, us hoping that Jake wouldn't kill Vanessa's father, or had nothing to do with it or something. Then it premiered, and Shonda spelled out the shock of the cold murder, no sugar coating.
I think we should be realistic in clearly understanding and accepting who we are dealing with here, the people we adore; the monsters we adore. I know I need to be 100% realistic, which will be an interesting experience for me going forward! I'm going to try. We love monsters; people who, at the end of the day, regardless of why they do the... out-of-this-world horrific things they do, deserve to all die and be buried in unmarked graves. No celebration or remembrance. But then, who'd be crazy and abnormal and capable enough to keep the Republic as they know it churning by any means? Sure, Shonda humanizes their lives and situations by digging into and displaying intimate and personal life details of such people, showing that even monsters can love, have family, express real and deep emotions, and have their own normal, but they are still monsters. We just see and understand life from monster's points of views, which can appear normal, even relate-able in ways from their angle. They bleed too. To honestly love and appreciate these particular characters as we say we do is to receive them in the entirety of their abnormal, which includes the full glory of their ugly and deviance to what is acceptable, right? Olivia and the sea of viewers who currently detest her, at least her ways, have one thing in common: both have a problem accepting her true nature, lol! I am deeply settling into the fact that the woman we are having a hard time with and continue to measure against standard norms is who she really is, that Olake is nothing short of ruthless and deadly, loves one another, and that their expressed relationship looks nothing like the standard romantic relationship, because they are polar to normal and fantasy, as individuals. I just want to start seeing them this way, unfiltered of the effort of adjusting, rejecting, judging, or explaining away their nature for what is comfortable and acceptable to me. I'm going to try. I'm open to their crazy, their monster, their abnormal and gritty, which is nowhere near a fantasy trip! I can only imagine that as Olivia sinks more and more into her gritty truth, people's issues with her may grow even more.”

Why I ship OLITZ:
From day 1 Olivia and Fitz has loved❤️ exactly 1 person and that's each other. Yes both of them hurt each other but Liv done worst and Fitz love for her was unconditional love ❤️ that man loved his Livy like 💗 it was no tomorrow. But Liv herself Loved Fitz as well like it was no tomorrow. I can recall Fitz showing Liv many times how much he loved ❤️ her.
#1: Running Out The Clock 🕦
#2: Giving Up The WH Many Times
#3: Going To War For Her
#4: Saving Her Monster Of A Father For Her
#5: Built Her/Them A mansion In Vermont
#6: Gave Her A Ring
Now that's a man for Liv all roads lead to Fitz
Liv words. But when I look at how much Fitz love ❤️ his Livy I got to look at why Liv always got 1 foot out the door ready to run far away 🏃. When I look at Liv relationship with her father it's no love from him he treats her like shit 💩 he don't tell Liv he love her he call's Liv out her name I mean he called his own daughter a stripper and front of everyone and the only person stood up 👆 for Liv was Fitz
#Show Your Daughter Some Damn Respect
Liv is afraid 😱 because she never been Loved ❤️ before like that and it scares her but she love ❤️ Fitz as well as being in love with him just the thought of losing him scares her.
Flashback to when Fitz got shot 🔫 and almost died ⚱ Liv was breaking down inside her face said so many words and at that moment all Liv could do was cry 😭 I mean 😏 she was breaking 💔 my heart to see 👀 her cry 😭 like that. I respect Fitz as a man because he doesn't push Liv to say 🙊 she Love ❤️ him I mean 😏 Fitz then told Liv so many times how much he love ❤️ her even loved her more then being president. Or how about giving zero fucks when Millie was saying how she wasn't going to go on national television about him having an affair with Liv and the only good part from that scene was
Fitz: That's Me Being In Love With Another Woman. I damn near screamed 😱 my wig off 😂 lol. When it comes to Fitz & joke there is no comparison between 🖖 them Fitz is the man joke was just someone to toy with until he got his eviction notice from Liv, all I know is Liv words to Joke
#1: I Love Fitz
#2: I'm In Love With Someone Else
#3: You Was Never An option For Me
#4: I Don't Love You Joke
#5: I Love Him
#6: When I'm With You All I Think about Is Him
#7: Fitz Is Who I Choose
#8: He's Who I Will Always Choose
#9: You Are Just A Lesser Version Of Him
#10: A Sad Reminder Of The Men I Truly Deserve.... No matter the length 📏 Between 🖖 OLITZ the heart 💞 wants what the heart 💞 wants and Liv heart belongs to Fitz & vice versa. When Fitz eyes 👀 locks with Liv theirs no need for words to be spoken. Nothing Liv do to hide her feeling or emotion from Fitz works he knows Liv better than Liv knows herself and that's why Liv always hide or run 🏃 but more of she is scared 😱 because she never felt love ❤️ like that. I don't care who they slept with it was nothing to serious 😒 between 🖖 other people because Fitz has Liv heart 💞 and Liv has Fitz heart 💞 with these two you can't go wrong others who realize what Fitz in Liv have.
Verna: I Seen You Two Together You breath in sync.
Millie: He Need You Liv / You Everything To Him Liv.
Huck: She Wears It For Him She Never Takes It Off.
Joke: But You Are In Love With Him
Rowan: In She Love You... You...
Yes OLITZ will be end game they been through hell and back
Liv words to Edison
#1: I Want Painful
#2: Difficult
#3: Devastating
#4: Life Changing
#5: Extraordinary Love
Yes ✔️ that's what OLITZ have in nothing will change that between 🖖 em. Another quote from Liv declaring her Love ❤️ for Fitz.
Just Don't ask me to undo ↩️ the past
Don't ask me to fall out of love with Fitzgerald grant. Because if I could 👏 I would. Yes ✔️ Fitz left his mark on Liv heart 💞 no other man can compare to her Fitz baby it's em against the world 🌏 and no matter what OLITZ brings out the best of each other,
Liv words to Fitz.
:The Fish Rots From The Head.
:The Secret Service Taking They Q From You.
:Because You The Head Of The Fish.

#2:Negligent
#3:Selfish
You Letting Things Get Out Of Hand In Your Boys Are Following.
What Kind Of Example Are You Setting For The People Who Works For You For The Country For Your Son.
He Looked Up And Saw His Dad With Some Woman He Didn't Know. Some Woman In A Bathrobe. What Is That A Grant Family Tradition, You Basically Saw Your Own Father Do The Same Thing Right.
Is That Who You Are, Is You Big Jerry Now
I Don't Care What You Do In Your Spare Time I Really Don't. But This Long Ass Speech To Fitz Beg The Difference Liv Know Damn Well She Do Care ✅ lol 😂 OK I'm back.
But You... Liv Take A Deep Breath To Exhale The Pain, You Better Think 🤔 You Better Ask Yourself Is This Really Who You Want to Be.... Liv was hurt but at the same time she put it to the side to put her man in his place OK 👌 y'all I'm about to cry 😭 also
Another thing that caught my attention was when Liv said to Marcus
You will be on the road with a presidential candidate #Liv:That's Brass Ring 💍 OK 👌 now I'm really about to cry 😭 Liv was speaking 🗣 from the heart 💞 when Fitz gave LIV that Doux Bebe/Sweet Baby ring Liv was shooting fireworks 🎇 through the screen from her heart 💞 she was missing Fitz but was having a hard time but she was also letting the people know when she was talking it was about the love ❤️ of her life giving her a Brass Ring. All I know is OLITZ is end game no matter what Fitz/Liv belongs together I mean 😏 that night and the rose 🌹 garden put the icey on the cake 🍰
Fitz: What's Wrong You Pace And Circles When Something Wrong. When You Just Thinking 🤔 It's Back In Forward. But When Something Wrong It's Circles.
Liv: Did You Need Something Mr President.
Fitz: See You Use To Sound Sexy When You Called Me Mr President Now It Just Sounds Like I'm A Gym Teacher.
Liv: Did You Need Something
Fitz: The Sally Hampton Thomas Jefferson Comment Was Below The Belt.
Liv: Because It's So Untrue.
Fitz: You Playing The Race Card On The Fact I'm In Love With You, Come On Don't Belittle Us It's Insulting And Beneath You And Design To Drive Me Away I'm Not Going Away.
Liv: I Don't Have To Drive You Away You Married You Have Children You The Leader Of The Free World You Are Away By Definition You Away You're Unavailable.
Fitz: So This Is About Millie
Liv: No No This is I Smile At Her And I Take Off my Clothes For You. I Wait For You I Watch For You My Whole Life Is You I Can't Breathe Because I'm Waiting For You
You own Me You Control Me I Belong To You.
Fitz: You Own Me You Control Me I Belong To You, You Think I Don't Want To Be A Better Man You Don't Think I Want To Dedicate Myself To My Marriage You Don't Think I Want To Be Honorable To Be The Man You Voted For I Love You I'm In Love With You You're The Love Of My Life My Every Feeling Is Control By The Look On Your Face I Can't Breathe Without You I Can't Sleep Without You I Wait For You I Watch For You I Exist For You
#We In This Together.
Next day Liv Tells Fitz
Liv:I Love You To I'm In Love With You To.
Fitz:So We In This Together

#2: They Heart 💞 Beats As 1

Why I’m glad Scandal is ending after Season 7
I have a lot of problems with Scandal. This was originally going to be a rant about the fandom, but I just have so many things to say about the show itself and the cast and crew, that I’m just going to wrap it all into one huge post. And let me preface this by saying that everything I put in this post, on this blog, are just my opinions and feelings. I’m not trying to say this stuff is fact. It’s all just my opinion. So if you don’t agree with me, and dislike what I have to say, then that’s fine. I’m not going to try to argue with you or try to change your mind. That’s not the point. I’m just airing my grievances about this show because this is my blog and I can.
I thought the first two seasons of Scandal were amazing. It grabbed your attention and pulled you into the case-of-the-week storyline. I love shows that have a case-of-the-week format, and this show was amazing at sucking you in within the first few seconds. They had a small, main cast and everyone was fleshed out with their own unique personalities and flaws. We had a believable protagonist, antagonist, (and whether you like Olitz or not, the initial President-having-an-affair-with-the-protagonist storyline was interesting. But I don’t think it “made the show” as so many fans are inclined to believe). It was interesting seeing how the writers weaved Olivia around the major obstacles that came with her being in love with the President of the United States. Her relationship with her team at OPA was dynamic and the team’s interactions with each other were fluid and natural. Back then, Olivia was the top dog and David was the antagonist trying to take her down. And he wasn’t this sinister, evil, stereotypical, cartoonish-villain. He was a believable, smart, down to earth, real-life character. Everyone was believable. You could find something that connected you with all of these characters. Sometimes I was overly-judgey like Abby. Sometimes I strived to come out on top like Olivia, or I felt like I was working against the impossible like David. The plot was far from simple but the show had a way of pulling you in and grabbing your attention, so it made you want to follow along. It made you addicted.
But the Scandal we have now doesn’t do any of those things. Back in the first two seasons, the twists and turns were tightly woven within the plot. They fit. Now, a lot of the surprise hook-ups and twists don’t even fit into the plot for the plot’s sake. It seems like the writers are forcing them in for cheap shock value. Liv’s kidnapping in season 4 didn’t have to be drawn out for 3 entire episodes. David/Liz was just a way for the writers to fit Portia’s character into the plot. The writers dumbed David down more than usual to make Liz look clever/domineering/cunning. She was a character who, in my opinion, should never have been made a regular in the first place. Moving onto Season 6, was anyone surprised Rowan was the one who shot Frankie Vargas? No. Rowan has been behind everything since Season 3. Granted, this time Peus was technically behind it, but Rowan was the one who was forced to pull the trigger, to nobody’s surprise.
Speaking of Rowan, let’s talk about him. I do think his complicated relationship with his daughter is something television needs. There are hardly any shows with complicated black families. So I think TV needs more families like Rowan, Liv, and Maya. Do I like that Rowan treats Olivia like his property? No. I don’t think he really knows how to love her and support her without treating her like an extension of himself. I don’t hate all of his monologues. Some of them, like when he told Olivia she had to be twice as good, and when he called Fitz a spoiled manchild. Those were great. But it got old after three full seasons. The constant, “Big Brother is Always Watching and Knows All,” aspect of his character is my biggest pet peeve. It’s  just gotten old for me. Way too old. I’m sick of it. But again, TV needs a family like the Popes, so I’m not sure which way I lean when it comes to Rowan. I feel like Olivia will never truly be free and happy with him alive, but I also think she will be devastated if something happens to him. So I’m not sure which way I lean on Rowan as a character. I do think he’s one of the few characters on Scandal who has been written consistently over the years, considering the writing took a sharp decline in Season 3 with no hope of ever recovering.
There’s a difference between inconsistent writing and character development. Quinn is one of the few characters who got a lot of positive character development. She went from being young, naive, and inexperienced to the confident character she is today. Abby, despite my dislike for her, has been written pretty consistently over the years. She’s basically a judgy, wannabe Olivia and always has been. Jake’s been written pretty consistently too. He can be nice sometimes and a bully at other times, but that’s inline with his character. That doesn’t mean I like the schoolyard bully aspect of his character. I actually have a huge problem with it, but you can’t say he isn’t written consistently. Marcus hasn’t been the victim of Shonda’s misandrist writing yet, so that’s positive. But other than those characters, inconsistent writing, and at times just plain bad writing, is a major issue on the show. Let’s start with Olivia. Olivia’s development has been ignored since Season 3. Season 3 is when things started going downhill for the show. This was when the focus shifted from OPA to the White House and B613, and it’s never shifted back. The show went from being about cases of the week and Olivia, to being about who’s going to be B613’s next victim? Who’s going to be elected President? Why is Mellie so hurt and sad? Let’s explore Mellie more. Let’s throw a few more regular characters into the mix who have nothing to do with Olivia. Let’s do another election storyline that spans two whole seasons and focuses on characters who aren’t Olivia. Let’s dumb down smart characters like Olivia, David, and Cyrus in order to make Liz North seem clever and relevant to the plot for some reason (cough, free advertising from Ellen, cough). Let’s make Olivia take a backseat to Mellie Grant. Let’s ignore the first two seasons and turn David into a stereotypical, nerdy screw-up who is the show’s designated loser, because average-looking people aren’t allowed to be anything other than jokes on TV. Let’s focus on all these spoiled White House characters and ignore what made the show great in the first place, Olivia and OPA.
And then there’s Shonda’s white feminism. Characters like Abby, Mellie, Liz, and Susan were pushed to the forefront of the show at certain points, and given unnecessary screen time while the writers ignored Olivia and ignored her own backstory and her wants, needs, and desires. Olivia’s story seems to be hurried along while they take time to make Abby, Mellie, and Susan into sympathy cases. But what should I expect from a show runner who had Lena Dunham guest star? Shonda and the rest of the cast need to stop showering that sister molester with praise like she’s someone who deserves to be in the industry instead of a whiny, white feminist who wants attention.
The lack of diversity on this show is another problem. It’s ironic since Shonda considers herself a bastion of “normalizing” television. 11 out of the 12 main characters are straight. The majority of them are white. The one gay character is a power hungry sociopath. That’s it. There are no other LGBT characters besides Cyrus. He’s it. How is that diverse? How is that “normalizing” television? You and your writers spent how many seasons using your black female lead for ship bait and then just sidelined her in favor of a spoiled white woman who called her “whore” for years. Way to normalize television, Shonda Rhimes.
And let’s move on to the real-life issue. The Terry BS that’s plagued the fandom for years. I believe some of the people pushing this fantasy are unhinged and potentially dangerous. They act like they’re privy to Kerry’s private life and make up stories about how they know her and Tony personally. That’s not normal. That’s not harmless. That’s defamation. It’s damaging to her reputation. So it bothers me when Tony and Tom pander to these people. I don’t know how Kerry puts up with it. She shouldn’t have to put up with it. And how can Tony interact with these creeps on Twitter like they’re best buddies when they post nasty things about his wife? The mother of his children? Because of that, I don’t like him. I don’t like Tom either. I don’t like people who dangle a woman’s private life in front of a bunch of creepy fans like it’s a carrot. Their actions help make this fandom the toxic place it is.

Random story time: My friend asked me how I came back to tumblr and started anons about demika. That’s a separate story. But it got me thinking about why I joined in the first place. It was almost 6 years ago and I was obsessed with Scandal and Olitz. I somehow found the ScandalMoments blog and through that found another individual. I don’t remember her real name but her username was something like PurplePineapple. After every early episode I would come on here to those two blogs and read what they had written the night before. It was fascinating to me reliving the episodes that way. After a couple of weeks I decided to just make a blog so I could easily follow.
Anyways, it was through tumblr that I truly learned that you can connect with someone you don’t know, they can teach you about yourself and they can have a true impact on you. I remember one post in particular from PurplePineapple (I really hope that was her username). Most of her posts were about Scandal and Olitz, none of us talked too much personal stuff at that time, but she posted something about how she realized that morning that she still had the key to her best friend’s house on her keychain. She had said that when her best friend’s mom was sick with cancer, she was given a key to the house so she could check up on her. She had said her and her friend had started to drift a bit but she viewed her friend’s mom as an aunt no matter what.
At the time I was going through similar. My best friend (who I had significantly drifted from) was going through her mother’s cancer. It hit me hard and I didn’t fully understand why. It was my friend’s mom, not mine. My friend was handling it well, as was her entire family, despite a very bad diagnosis. I often felt like I didn’t deserve to feel the way I did, there was no reason to, despite being extrmeely close to her mom, spending days and days with her for two decades. But reading PurplePineapple’s simple 3-4 sentence post instantly made me realize that what I was feeling was okay, I too could feel devastated at the diagnosis.
Looking back it’s weird, but that one post made me look at social media completely differently. Each post is written by a person that may have similar or completely different experiences from me. Each user has something that can and does impact me, whether it be the way I view the world or the way I view myself. I have learned more about other races and cultures and experiences from actual people than I ever could through schooling or TV.

CMW2/Trumpetnista: Shattering Expectations (151/?)
Teaser from Chapter 151:  Fitz had nearly begged her to stay upstairs, to get some more rest but she had insisted that she would be all right. It was only a 2 hour dinner. She could make it through. She had made it through bigger occasions with headaches, backaches, babies sitting on her bladder with no problem...
Maybe it was the fact that she was in her 30s now or maybe it was just Karma's way of reminding her to check her hubris but after the first two courses, pain had laced through her head like a flaming sword. To those who didn't know her well, she was fine but Fitz could see it, as could Cyrus. Fitz being Fitz had slipped her an Excedrin and that had saved her from either vomiting or bursting into tears at their table. As dessert was served, Cyrus had gotten her a glass of ginger ale to soothe her stomach and chase the Excedrin and she had made it through. After a quick dance, Olivia had discreetly taken her leave, grabbing a glass of wine on her way to someplace quieter, with dimmer lights to wait for her husband.
Obviously, she hadn't been discreet enough and this diplomat wanted to score brownie points with his bosses by getting a Statement from her. He was new, very green, and in better circumstances, Olivia would have patience, even a bit of humor for him but this was not the time. This was not the night. She should've stayed in the Residence...
Disclaimer for the full story: “Honestly, it’s not mine!”
"So, what are the chances that we'll be attending one of your State dinners, Madame First Lady?"
"Slim to none."
"That is unfortunate. You would be a fine Leader to this country, even better than your husband."
"Perhaps."
Almost as exasperating as the amazement that her marriage was still strong were the people constantly trying to get her to change her mind about going into politics herself. If it wasn't Cyrus, it was an interviewer or in this case, a diplomat from one of their allied countries. She couldn't exactly remember which one at the moment.
Olivia could understand their reasoning in her mind. After all, why rock the boat? Fitz had been a very successful President, one of the greatest. Everyone knew that she and Fitz were on the same page about many policies, both foreign and domestic. She was still apolitical, which made bipartisan cooperation more likely. Everyone appreciated a neutral viewpoint, even though they were determined to bleed red, blue, or green for the rest of their lives. She was intelligent, beautiful, and had the pedigree, both professionally and personally, to do the Job. She could do any job she wanted in national or local politics.
Olivia knew all of this, accepted all of this in her mind but it was taking every bit of cultivated self control not to throw her half empty glass of red wine on the next person who brought up the subject. Honestly, she should've stayed in the Residence. She had been nursing a migraine for the last 36 hours. Fitz had nearly begged her to stay upstairs, to get some more rest but she had insisted that she would be all right. It was only a 2 hour dinner. She could make it through. She had made it through bigger occasions with headaches, backaches, babies sitting on her bladder with no problem...

He was new, very green, and in better circumstances, Olivia would have patience, even a bit of humor for him but this was not the time. This was not the night. She should've stayed in the Residence...
"There you are, Livvie...are you okay?"
"...no, I'm not."
Her voice cracked on the last syllable and she downed the rest of her glass, setting it down on a coaster reflexively. She didn't want to create more work for the Staff than necessary. Cleaning up a glass ring on a mahogany end table, cleaning up splattered wine from her justified but still not a good idea temper tantrum, cleaning up vomit...oh, god...
"Excuse us, please."
They had made it halfway to the Residence before the nausea got to be too much. Fortunately, she was right near a bathroom and dimly, she registered Fitz gently rubbing the nape of her neck as she panted for air. Reaching, she flushed the toilet and stood up, tears sliding rapidly from her eyes. Fitz dipped a handkerchief into the sink full of cool water and tenderly cleaned her face before drawing her into a gentle hug.
"My head...baby, it hurts..."
"I know, sweetheart. Let me help?"
"…'kay..."
/
"Fitz? You were right. Thanks for not rubbing it in..."
"I wouldn't do that."
"Liar."
"I would but in a situation when you're not hurting..nice Spongebob reference, by the way."
"I'm a parent. Parents are required to have at least an associate's degree in Spongebob."
Reaching from her cocoon of blankets, she took another sip of tea and ate two saltines. After a nice shower, she had a bowl of chicken broth and another Excedrin before laying back down. Their bedroom was dark, lit only by a peppermint scented candle and it was cool, perfect for getting rid of a headache. Still, she had her head underneath her favorite pillow and her Fitz was holding her.
Everything felt better when Fitz held her.
"Thank you, baby."
"I'm here for you, Livvie."
"I love you, Fitz."
"I love you too, Livvie. Always."

CMW2/Trumpetnista: Shattering Expectations (147/?)
Tumblr media
Words from the Gladiator in a Hoodie: This fic will end when the show does. Season 7 is the Curtain Call, the END, and crunch time. I want a good endgame for Liv, Fitz, and Olitz, esp. Liv because while 6 may have come through in some unexpected lovely ways (of course after 5candal botched it so badly in nearly all areas, the Bar going into 6 was lower than the girl in the club in the boots with the fur...), she's in a very bad place mentally, worse than ever. Liv's overall mental and emotional health has been neglected and it shows. It makes me very sad.
That neglect needs to be fixed in 7. That's Priority #1, even before a dead and dismembered Joke Bastard, even before more of the Olitz awesomeness we got post 6x10. Olivia Pope is the show's Leading Lady (not Mellie, Shonda, fuck right off to Hell and Burn!) and she deserves it.  I want Liv to get a Recovery Arc like Meredith did in Greys 4B or an even better one. I want Liv to choose her endgame Path. I want her to decisively choose a good life (preferably with Fitz) over the all or nothing, almighty political & social POWER because as the summary of this story aptly points out, POWER is temporary and Misery is forever.
The idea of Olivia being miserable forever makes me want to cry.
But, enough about all of that. It's time to get back in the swing of things. Thank you all again for your love, your patience, your support, and for just being y'all. The show may suck sometimes but the fandom, at least the part that I'm in, is always dope. Thank you. Enjoy the latest!
Teaser from Chapter 147: "Momma, isn't Daddy pretty?"
Fitz was sitting across from their daughter who had apparently wanted to play tea party. Krishna Rose had on a glittery blue crown and her red ladybug princess dress. Her husband had a pink feather boa draped over his broad shoulder, a glittery purple crown on his head, and a full face of makeup, lovingly done by his gracious host. He looked up from carefully slicing up apples and gave her a brilliant grin.
"Am I pretty, Livvie?"
"Yes, you are. I like your eyeshadow. It brings out your eyes."
It actually did. The shade was a rich mahogany and his cerulean slate gaze seemed to glow from within. Of course, the glow was mostly from joy but the eyeshadow helped. He could've gone a shade darker with his blush but it was blended well enough. The gloss on his lips was clear and Olivia nodded in approval. Their oldest girl had a growing knack for cosmetology, it seemed. Not to mention the image of her 6'2, 210 pound Presidential husband happily being a canvas warmed her heart. Her family warmed her heart, made life really worth living...

3 Months Later...
"...it takes a special kind of patience and strength to be a politician. There's always so much to be done, things that need to be done but they don't happen or they do happen but then, the victory is lost in all the partisanship and administration changes and...I can't do it. I know that a lot of people want me to run for the Senate or the House or even to run for the Oval when I'm old enough but I know and accept in my heart that I can't. And honestly? I don't want to be a politician on any level, local or national. I really don't want to. I'm happy as I am. I like the Olivia Pope-Grant that I am right now and I don't want to change her. Plus, it's been tough. These last 7 years have been some of the toughest that we've gone through. There's been Media dissecting every little thing we do, Fitz got shot in the head and almost died, there was the whole West Angolan Conspiracy that could've led to my death and there has just been so much craziness around us since Fitz took the Oval. I mean, it's to be expected. The first interracial First Couple, the youngest First Couple to be in the White House, it's historic. Everyone is watching, everyone is holding us up as an example or as a warning, depending on your point of view and... after all of this, we just want to live quietly. Fitz and I have discussed this and at the end of the day, we just want to be a family. Sure, the spotlight and the fishbowl will always be around but we just want to be Liv and Fitz with our babies and to keep helping people on a smaller scale."
"Some will say that you're settling for less, squandering your potential..."
"...and they are wrong. A common criticism is that I'm not doing enough for feminism, that I'm not a good enough role model for young girls but...the way I see feminism is a woman being treated as an equal in all aspects and for her decisions to be respected, whether she wants to be a housewife, a politician, or whatever else she sets her mind and heart to. My mind and heart are firmly set and I will not apologize for being who I am, even if people see me as less or as being lazy."
"...and on that note, I think we can wrap things up. Thank you for coming in today, Madame First Lady."
"Thank you for having me. This was fun."
"You're welcome to come back anytime. Up next will be an interview with Marcus Parker, a local activist who went viral during..."
As soon as she walked into the Residence's living room, she grinned.
Alex and Maddie were sitting in their indigo bouncy chair, enjoying an early afternoon nap. Alex had a purple pacifier in his mouth and Maddie a green one, matching their zip up footie pajamas. Hank and Onyx were on their usual yoga mat, the little black kitten gently nuzzling the large hound's shoulder as he napped. Gerry was watching an episode of Adventure Time in his favorite Star Wars pajamas while eating a bowl of peanut butter crunch and Krishna Rose...
"Momma, isn't Daddy pretty?"
"Come sit down, Momma. We're having manzanas y mantequilla de maní (apples and peanut butter) and Ger-Ger made the cucumber sandwiches. He made them look like stars!"
Olivia kicked off her heels and placed her purse on the couch before joining them, accepting the purple tiara immediately. Tucking herself into Fitz's side, she draped some of the boa over her shoulder and smiled at his kiss to her temple. In every single interview she did, someone would ask her about her future plans. What did she want to do professionally now that she had turned ownership of OPGA to Quinn and Harrison? Would she remain a silent partner, a consultant for big Cases? Would she expand her urban gardening empire further? Would she become a professor like her husband? Would she practice law and most of all, would she be the next great Grant politician? There was a growing grassroots movement to get her in some sort of office and a countdown to when she turned 35.
She'd be lying if she said that she hadn't seriously considered running for office, running for the Oval. Being around Fitz's campaigns, helping him when he asked (or when a crisis erupted like Krakatoa) had proven more than once that she had what it took. She had bipartisan support throughout the capital and her work with OPGA had given her quite the pedigree. She was the First Lady but she also had her own separate identity, very marketable, very relatable. Plus, she was a woman, a black woman. The representation, even if she lost would be remarkable, something that young boys and girls could see and bolster their dreams.
However, it wasn't all roses. Danger lurked around every corner. Whether it was an assassin with a bullet, a member of the staff or a group of "lobbyists", someone was always plotting. Politics was a cutthroat game, one requiring many sacrifices. Sacrifice of time, sacrifice of finances, sacrifice of privacy, sacrifice of humanity...Olivia was no angel. There was no such thing as a White Hat. She had many shades of gray to her character, to her methods of getting things done professionally, some of those shades of gray being outright black and...it wouldn't be worth it. Her words to Big Jerry all those years ago were still true: no job, not even the highest job in the land was worth a lifetime of misery. Not even close to worth it.
Being surrounded by so many cautionary tales, watching as those clawed and scraped for Power that could be taken away at any second had left their mark. It firmed her resolve to have as little to do with politics as possible as soon as Fitz's time was done.
What did Olivia want for her future?
This. She wanted to be by her husband's side, surrounded by their babies and loved ones. It was against her nature to stop working but mainly, she just wanted to be happy. Happiness was with her family, her friends, and building a life, a lasting and real legacy with them all.
That was what life should be like and if she had her way, it would be a reality.
And Olivia Pope-Grant always got her way.
Pressing a kiss to the apple of Fitz's cheek, she picked up a cucumber sandwich and began to eat, content.

Teaser from Chapter 150: The classroom immediately erupted into cheers, both from students and adults alike. After 10 more seconds, he followed behind her and was immediately greeted by one of his favorite sounds in the world...
"Daddy, you're here, too? Everybody came!"
Krishna Rose bolted up from her seat on the big purple circle time rug and he caught her in a hug, spinning her around a little. Once she was back on her feet, she looked between him and the rest of the family with teary, happy eyes. She hugged his leg tightly and Fitz felt like his heart was going to burst. It had taken rescheduling 8 appointments, a very early Skype call to the Pentagon that he wouldn't delay, and practically having to push Cyrus out of the way but he made it. He was there for his oldest daughter, there for his family and that was what really mattered to him.
Being the President of the United States was an important Job but the most important Jobs in the world to him were being a husband and a father...

(A/N #2: The opening of this chapter is based off a fond memory of my little brother Thomas. The school he was sharing with my first little sister Kimberly did something called "mystery readers". Every week, a parent would come in at around 2:00 to read the class a story and of course, bring a snack because it's elementary school and they get to do the coolest stuff. At first, my sister's 2nd grade class thought that Tom was the mystery reader (which was hilarious because he was in Kindergarten at the time. They were like: "He's the mystery reader?") but then our dad came up behind him and everyone was like: IT'S A BEAR because Dad's like a giant 6'2 and 280 pound teddy bear (give or take a bowl of my dope ass pot roast). Anyways, after the EPIC fail which was Not My FLOTUS' visit to a school in my area (seriously, find the pics and look at each kid's face. You'll pee your pants laughing...), I wanted to do something like that with Olitz and the kids. Another reference to make your day? Barack and Michelle reading Where The Wild Things Are. Enjoy!)
"Thank you so much for doing this, Mr. President. The kids are gonna go wild."
"I'm just here to look pretty. It's Liv and Gerry's show."
"It's yours, too, love. Okay, so we're going to send you in first, dulce and come in with the babies after, okay?"
"Okay, Momma. Did y'all remember all 3 batches of cookies? Krissy says that some of her classmates can't have peanuts or gluten or they'll get really sick. Nobody should get sick today. It's supposed to be fun."
"We did."
"Cool. I'm ready when you are, Ms. Hendricks."
Fitz shared a grin with his wife as Gerry was led in and after the kids' incredulous reaction ("He's the mystery reader?"), watched with appreciation as Olivia moved forward, pushing the double stroller. The classroom immediately erupted into cheers, both from students and adults alike.
Being the President of the United States was an important Job but the most important Jobs in the world to him were being a husband and a father.
"I thought only Momma, Ger-Ger, and the twinsies were coming. This is...gracias, daddy."
"You're welcome, Ladybug. Can I meet some of your friends?"
/
"Is it hard being President?"
"Very, but it's worth it."
"My mom says that you're one of the bravest Presidents. Someone really bad tried to make you go to heaven but you still stayed. What are you gonna do when your turn's over?"
"I'm learning how to make jam."
"My uncle makes jam. Well, he kinda burns it sometimes but that's okay. That's why auntie has 3 fire extinguishers instead of just one."
"That reminds of the first time I made baked chicken when I on Base. I burned it 3 times before I could get it right."
"Was there fire? Fire's fun."
"A little bit but nobody got hurt. Fire's only fun when nobody gets hurt."
"Do Alex and Maddie cry a lot? My little sister never stops crying ev-er..."
"No, they're pretty quiet. If they're crying, they're either wet, hungry, or just want to hang out."
"Are you and Ms. Olivia gonna have more babies?"
"No, we're done. Four kids are just enough so nobody gets left out."
"Yeah...I'm the youngest and there's 6 of us. The other kids are always hogging mom and dad. Are you gonna use pink right there? I think it will look pretty with the glitter."
"It will."
"Are you gonna give the picture to Ms. Olivia? My mom likes it when my dad gives her stuff, even if it's just some gum or a new hat."
"I will. She loves space."
After the story ended and the snack debris was cleared away, the rest of the school day was free time. Fitz had joined a knot of girls at a low table, filled to near overflowing with art supplies. Picking a picture of a rocket ship surrounded by swirling stars, he settled in with a 96 pack of crayons and a small shaker full of silver glitter. From where he was sitting, he could Krishna Rose and Gerry putting together a jigjaw puzzle of a jungle.
Like they did at home, Gerry was working from the edges inward and Krishna was putting together individual parts. Two parrots and a tiger were already done, along with a big red flower. After finishing the story and a quick diaper change, Olivia had sent the twins with Marta who was in the Media Center with the rest of the Agents.
His wife currently was in a fierce tic-tac-toe match with two boys, one of them named Henry. Henry was Krishna Rose's best friend and honestly, a nice intelligent boy but he was still a boy! Now, he understood how Olivia felt when Gerry first connected with Esperanza. Logically, he knew that Krissy and Henry were just friends, far too young to be more than it but his heart was screaming. There was a boy near his daughter, a boy that his daughter cared about. Not to say that his little girl couldn't take care of herself. Oh, no. She was her mother's child. Whether it was with words or a well placed tackle, Krishna Rose would be just fine.
But still...a boy!
Finished with the picture, Fitz stood up and walked to the board, waiting for his Livvie to finish up.
"Okay, boys. I'm out."
"You did good, Ms. Olivia. I'm gonna do your tricks with my cousin next time. He'll flip."
"Thanks, Logan...hi. Is that for me, Mr. President?"
"It is, Madame First Lady. Do you like it?"
"Oh, yes. Worthy of the Smithsonian or the Met, I think."
"Maybe we could start with hanging it behind your desk."
"That works too. Take a walk with me?"
"Sure."
/
"I always wanted to do this...push a pretty girl on the swings..."
"How come you didn't?"
"Too shy. Plus, there was Mellie being Mellie...how is she?"
"Living it up in Paris."
"That's good to hear."
"Do you mean that because she's happy or because she's happy and an ocean away from here?"
"Well..."
"Absolutely shameless...higher, please..."
"As you wish."
Once she was at her desired height, Fitz walked in front of the swing set, ready and willing to catch her when she eventually jumped off. Olivia had forgone the traditional FLOTUS red and pearls in favor of a gray polka dotted tunic dress, black leggings, and knee high beige boots. Her hair was loose and flowing in the pleasantly cool breeze, reminding him of a waterfall.
"You really came through today. Krissy was just...it was awesome."
"Family comes first, Livvie. Plus, I couldn't miss this. Where the Wild Things Are is one of my favorite books and after all the work we put in to make those cookies, I wanted to get some."
Olivia laughed and surprising him, didn't jump off.
"I'm getting too old to be doing that and lord knows, your back can't take the impact."
"I'm as healthy as a horse, little woman, thanks to you."
"Damned right, you are. I want you to stay with me as long as possible."
"I want to stay with you as long as possible, Livvie."

Summary from FFN: NOW A WIP: She was Olivia Pope, not Alex Jones, not Julia Baker, and she was a mess;In this AU of 4x16, instead of Alex seducing Russell to feel alive again, Olivia decides on a better course of action, a course of action that starts with a phone call to Fitz;HEAVY SPOILERS FOR SEASON 4 WITHIN;Rated for language, imagery, and later Olitz lovemaking;4th in my 2016 SSS Project
Teaser from Chapter 8: It needed to go.
The couch needed to go.
It was a constant reminder of what had happened to her, now. It was poison.’
Yes, she and Fitz had their good moments on it. After hearing their first time on tape, he had held her for One Minute, comforting her and saying goodbye. When he came to her to run out the clock, the couch had been where he sat, looking at her with all the love in the world, all the trust in the world. She had fallen into his arms on the couch, letting herself be loved and letting go...
...but now? The couch had to go. The couch and the whole apartment, for that matter! Why was she still living there? Even before her abduction, there were so many bad times in the place, more than good. It had been a point of pride to stay put. Olivia had seen it as a sign of strength to stay but had it really been? It was something to think about. It was something to talk about, both with her therapist and her family. She had money. She had contacts. Finding a new place in or close to DC would be simple, even with the inherent hassle of moving.
She would have one less piece of furniture to deal with in the process...

3 Days Later...
"I'll take care of him. Consider it Handled."
"Huck."
"He shouldn't have broken into your place. You're trying so hard to get better. You are getting better every day. You're learning how to be happy again and he wants to ruin it. He wants to drag you back down into the Dark because that's the only way that you let him be with you. Even if B613 and Rowan aren't a part of his life anymore, he won't ever leave you alone so someone needs to make him go away for good. I can do it. I'll be okay after, I promise."
"You're getting better, too and I don't want Jake to ruin your progress. He's not worth it."
"But you are. Besides, if I don't take him down, Quinn will after I tell her what happened. Charlie will help her get rid of him because he wants her to be happy and he really likes you. Marcus will run interference if anyone asks where he is and Abby still has her gun so..."
"Huck, don't do it. Please?"
"Ballard hurt you before. He put his hands on you and made you feel scared. He made you feel dirty and wrong. We all let him hurt you before and it wasn't right. It wasn't fair to you. We're supposed to be Gladiators. We're supposed to be a family. Family protects family. Always."
"I didn't protect my family when it counted most. I ran away."
"We forgave you and if Harrison was still here, he would've, too. He loved you. We love you."
"...I know."
"Do you?"
"Yeah. Try not to do it. You all can go talk to him but just...try. For me?"
"...okay."
Olivia sighed softly and tossed her phone into the duffel bag next to her. The breeze was refreshing against her skin and she closed her eyes, already feeling tears sliding down her face. After what happened with Jake, she had booked an emergency session with her therapist. Linda Marbury had seen her first thing and she had taken the rest of the day off afterwards. During that off day, she had given her apartment a deep clean, both to calm down and to check for surveillance equipment. Jake said that he had left nothing behind but she would be a fool to take him at his word. She had found nothing but it didn't mean that she wasn't being watched.
Local news had brought up the fact that she was in counseling but she had been prepared. There was no shame in admitting that one needed help. With how stressful life could be, especially in Washington, getting help and support was crucial. Mental health was just as important as physical health, if not more important. After all, if one's mind wasn't right, then the rest of the body wouldn't be either.
The statement, along with substantial donations to local outreach programs, had quickly turned the narrative around in her favor. Olivia was a Fixer. She was the best in the business for a reason and it was nice to remember that she deserved help, too.
Opening her eyes, she looked at the couch. It was waiting near the quarry's small lake, looking both huge and small. She had been meaning to get rid of it since her abduction but she hadn't the time or the strength. But now that she was healing, truly healing, getting rid of it was just as important as taking her medicine on time and removing the toxic people from her life.
She had blocked Mellie's numbers. She had also put a strict policy in place for keeping her or her representatives out of OPA. True to Fitz's warning, a series of voicemails had been left by the embittered woman, dripping with alcohol laced venom. She had Huck save each one of them, added them to the black Kill Folder, and moved on with her life. Mellie losing her Election wasn't Olivia's fault. It wasn't Fitz's fault. It wasn't Cyrus' fault or the American People's. The loss was no one's fault but Mellie's. She didn't want to wait and build her brand. She didn't want to put the work in that her opponent had. She had felt entitled to Power and rightfully got a wake-up call.
Olivia had taken to letting Cyrus go to voicemail, too. Unless it was about Ella's wellbeing, she wouldn't take his calls. He was looking for her to get back into Kingmaking. He was looking for her to be The White House's personal Fixer again and Olivia wasn't interested. She wasn't interested in being called 'The Help' ever again. If Fitz needed her, then he could and would call her himself so Cyrus couldn't use that avenue to get her anymore. She wouldn't let him.
Just because he wasn't actively interfering with her life anymore didn't mean that he was trusted. Trusting Cyrus Beene would be just as foolish as trusting Jake. She was a lot of things but foolish? Not anymore. If she was really going to heal, she had to be firm. She had to be brave. Having support from her friends and Fitz was excellent but at the end of the day, it was up to her.
Reaching down to the large speaker, she turned the volume all the way up. Fighting back bile, Olivia lowered the needle to the record player and waited.
After a couple scratches, the music began.
Yeah, everybody's got a thing But some don't know how to handle it Always reaching out in vain Just taking the things not worth having but
Don't you worry 'bout a thing Don't you worry 'bout a thing, mama 'Cause I'll be standing on the side When you check it out, oh
They say your style of life's a drag And that you must go other places Just don't you feel too bad When you get fooled by smiling faces
Don't you worry bout a thing...
It needed to go.
The couch needed to go.
It was a constant reminder of what had happened to her, now. It was poison.
She would have one less piece of furniture to deal with in the process.
Come on, everybody needs a change A chance to check out the new But you're the only one to sees The changes you take yourself through Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Don't you worry 'bout a thing, thing Don't you worry 'bout a thing, thing Don't you worry 'bout a thing, thing Don't you worry 'bout a thing, thing...
After renting the truck and putting the couch inside, Olivia had driven to a small hardware store about 90 minutes away from DC. She had looked it up online, not wanting to deal with a large crowd. Not to mention that the sight of The Olivia Pope in a Home Depot or Lowe's would be instant Beltway gossip fuel. She didn't need that. She didn't deserve that. Over the years, she had become so protective of everyone else's privacy, everyone else's Reputation, that she had neglected herself. She had seen herself as a burden, as a Scandal, and it had led to some of the worst decisions she had ever made. That needed to change. Olivia needed to take control.
It was her life to live. It was her life to Fix so she could enjoy it again.
Don't you worry 'bout a thing Don't you worry 'bout a thing, mama 'Cause I'll be standing on the side When you check it out When you get it off your trip Don't you worry 'bout a thing Don't you worry 'bout a thing, mama...
The muscles in her body burned. Tears were falling and her body was shaking but with each blow of the sledgehammer, Olivia could feel more of the heaviness lift. The couch was going to be gone. She would never have to look at it again. She would still have the memories. She would still have the flashbacks and terrors but things would be better. Huck was right. She was trying. She wanted to be better. She wanted to be happy again. No one was going to stop her from being happy again.
Not Jake.
Not Mellie.
Not Rowan.
Not Cyrus.
And especially not herself.
Once she could lift the hammer no more, she let it fall to the ground and took in the sight in front of her. The couch was now a jumble of metal, fabric, and wood. There were cuts on her hands, small but stinging. She would take care of them soon enough. She wasn't done just yet.
Returning to the truck, Olivia got the red gas can and the engraved silver lighter. It had been a gift from Rowan. She couldn't remember exactly when he had given it to her but it was before she had realized the truth about him. She had found it during the deep clean of her apartment and it was only fitting to use it.
The remains of the couch ignited immediately and she threw the lighter into the flames, letting it all burn. Olivia knew that she still had a lot of work to do. She knew that her fight for joy was far from over but at the moment, she felt victorious. She felt vindicated and empowered.
She had taken back another piece of her soul.
She would never get them all back but that was fine.
She would always be more than a little broken inside but that didn't mean that she was unworthy.
It didn't mean that she was ruined.
There was hope.
As long as there was breath in her body, there was hope.
Don't you worry 'bout a thing Don't you worry 'bout a thing, mama 'Cause I'll be standing on the side When you check it out Oh don't you worry 'bout a thing Don't you worry 'bout a thing, mama 'Cause I'll be standing, I'll be standing by you
Oh Oh oh don't you worry 'bout a thing...

CMW2/Trumpetnista: Shattering Expectations (163/163)

Summary from FFN: "Ideally, a Presidency lasts 8 years. Ideally, a marriage lasts 50. 8 years of a job, even the highest job in the Land is not worth 42 years of misery...";"What kind of coward was I to marry her and not wait for you to show up...why didn't I meet you sooner..."These two lines will be at the core of this Olitz fic;Rated for language & spice;7th in my 2013 SSS Project;NOW COMPLETE!
Teaser from Chapter 163: "Look, it's Bibi! Papi, it's Bibi and they've got Grampy too! They're next to each other! Look!"
"I see them, angelita (little angel). Do you know why they're here?"
"Cuz they were Presidents, too?"
"Grampy was. Bibi was his First Lady. Do you like their pictures?"
"Uh-huh...but where are Grampy's glasses? Did he lose them again?"
"No, Sophie, he didn't need them yet."
"Ohhh..."
As if on cue, Fitz came into view and Olivia cracked up at the bemused expression on his face.
"Did you lose your glasses, again?"
"...maybe."
"Did you, Mister?"
"...yes. Apparently, it's a family me-may, now."
"It's pronounced 'meme', love."
"Right...Livvie, have you seen my glasses?"
"Nope, but there's a spare pair next to the cookie jar. Look at how excited she is..."
Mm. You still okay with being married to a slightly forgetful and blind old man?"
"Always."

"Always."
After pocketing her phone, Olivia jumped onto his back and Fitz laughed, holding onto her easily.
"Giddy-up, mule."
"Mule? I am not a mule!"
"You're not?"
"No, ma'am. I'm a stallion, baby and you know it!"
"You're a sexy mule."
"A sexy mule? How does that even work? Explain that to me, wife."
"Later, husband. Giddy-up. C'mon, we're burning daylight."
"Where are we going?"
"Outside. The apples are ready to be picked and I'm hungry for them."
"Yes, ma'am."
Their Vermont estate was the best in the fall. The colors of the trees, the breeze, the harvest...it was an oasis. As the years passed, the fishbowl that surrounded them shrank significantly and they were protective of their privacy, theirs and all of their children. Gerry had grown up to go into IT, getting a job in the Capital Building. Krishna Rose was an artist, specializing in murals, and their twins, Alex and Maddie were in their second year of undergrad. Alexander was majoring in forensics, focusing on entomology and Madeline was there for accounting, along with dance.
None of them expressed an interest in going into politics and Olivia was honestly grateful.
Not to say that her children wouldn't have been excellent politicians or behind the scene players but knowing that they wouldn't be under so much stress, so much scrutiny? It was a relief. They had gotten enough of that life because of Fitz's Presidency and her continuing to work as a Fixer. All of her babies deserved to forge their own paths to success and more importantly, joy.
Gerry and Esperanza had gotten married after graduating from MIT together. Before a year passed, Sophia Grace Diaz-Grant had entered the world to much love and fanfare. "The Grant Dynasty", as the Media dubbed them was growing and still going strong. Krishna Rose and Henry had quietly gotten together their freshman year of high school and while they weren't married, they were still quite serious. Olivia guessed that one day, her oldest daughter would come home to visit with a baby bump and that was just fine with her. Henry was a good man who adored her and her oldest daughter had a good head on her shoulders, even with her free-spirited ways.
Neither of the twins had found anyone yet but it was only a matter of time.
And although, it would make her feel very, very old, Olivia would embrace it.
Being old wasn't the end of the world. It was a blessing. It meant that she was still standing.
Plus, Fitz would always be older than her so it balanced out!
"What are you giggling about, gorgeous girl?"
"Just happy."
"Good. It means that I'm doing my job."
Olivia pressed a kiss to the crown of his head and sighed. His hair was pure silver now but the waves were still luxuriously thick and soft. Fitz had gained a bit of weight over the years, as had she but he was still in excellent physical condition, strong and virile. As age set in, the need for glasses arose but that was genetic, as were hers. She really did have to find a way to help him keep up with his glasses better. As funny as it was when he lost them, he did need them for reading and seeing for long distances. Maybe Huck could create an app...
"Ooh. Stop here, please."
Olivia picked a red and juicy apple from a branch and took a big bite of it. The crispness, the sweetness...there were few things better than fresh produce that one grew themselves for a meal.
Well, besides sharing it...
Fitz's bite was just as big but slower, looking downright sensual in a primal way. Her husband was a biter. He always had been and always would be. Of course, with their children and grandchildren  around, they had a lot more discretion but occasionally, there would be a curiously shaped mark on her hip or inner thigh. Given that she still liked to scratch his back and nibble his ear, it was a fair exchange.
Olivia hopped down and continued her morning walk, knowing that he would follow her.  Both of them were in pajamas and robes but barefoot. Although they could and would still dress up for big events, mainly she and Fitz lived in their pajamas. They were fashionable and chic pajamas but still, pajamas. And Fitz lived barefoot. If it was raining or snowing, he'd put on a pair of loafers otherwise? It was okay. They had more than earned the right to be comfortable and at peace with their loved ones.
"I think that's my favorite sight in the world."
"What? My hips swaying in the breeze?"
"Just how happy you are...and your hips swaying in the breeze. You wouldn't mind bending over, real quick, would you?"
"You are shameless!"
"And you love me for it!"
"Against my better judgement."
"Still counts. C'mere..."
As soon as Olivia got in his reach again, he scooped her up in a hug and she kissed him with smiling lips. He tasted like mint mouthwash, ginger tea, apples, and home. He tasted like home. He smelled like home. He felt like home because that's who Fitzgerald Thomas Grant III was to her. Fitz was Olivia's home and she was happy to be his home.
They belonged together.
Forever.
"...hi."
"Hi."

Teaser from Chapter 156:  "Liv?"
"Hey, Cyrus. Did Susan come and talk to you?"
"How'd you know that...never mind, you're Olivia Pope-Grant. You see and know all."
"Not always. Governor Vargas will be here for the dinner in a few days so we'll see about bringing it up then. If he's receptive, then The Trail is going to be even more interesting than it already is."
"It'll be a shut out."
"Not necessarily."
"Liv, Susan and Frankie are the most competent candidates in the pool. Putting them together will make them unstoppable."
"In a sensible world. A lot of people aren't sensible. A lot of people are gonna vote with their hate instead of their common sense. They've been waiting 8 years to do it and if someone comes and rubs them the right way, says all the things that they want to hear? Well..."
"We can't let that happen."
"No, we can't but we've still got to do it clean, Cyrus. Win or lose, you know the Rules..."
Disclaimer for the full story: “Honestly, it’s not mine!”
One Month Later...
The End of an Era pt. 1
"I want to be Frankie Vargas' running mate. Is that doable?"
"Of course...I'll have to run it by Fitz and everyone else first but yeah, that's doable and actually a good idea but I thought that you wanted the Oval next. It's waiting for you."
"I do want it but I'm not ready for it. I know that I'm not but I also know that I can be a damned good Vice President. Everyone knows that now, even you, Cyrus. I can do the most good as a Vice President right now and Frankie needs a good running mate. Honestly, I want him to win. It would be so cool if he won. He'd be the first Latino President of the United States and I've worked with him before. He's a good man with a good family and a good head on his shoulders so I know that he won't undo the good Fitz has done just because he's a Democrat and Fitz is a Republican. People can be petty like that around here. Party over Country is a thing. It shouldn't be but it is."
"Damned straight...are you sure about this, Susan?"
"Very. Will you come with me to tell Fitz? I don't want to do it by myself. He's a great boss but The Oval still makes me a little nervous sometimes..."
Cyrus chuckled and nodded, following Susan Ross out of his office. When Fitz had first pitched the idea of her being Nichols' replacement, he and everyone else had been aghast. Susan Ross was competent, very competent. She had done a lot of good for her state but did she really have what it took to be Veep? She was a single mother with an ex-husband doing hard time. She was idealistic to the point of being naive and known to be socially awkward, endearingly so nowadays but still...her? Of all people?
However, Susan had come in and proven her worth tenfold, twentyfold. Her idealism was compatible with Fitz's but she had a spine of steel that reminded him of Olivia's. She could be objective and she would always speak her mind. She would make herself be heard and even when she was wrong overall, her ideas could be built on easily. Susan could and would get the job done. And she was a good person, a genuinely good person, and that was a rarity in their line of work, in Washington, D.C.
Cyrus had been wrong before and he had been wrong about Susan Ross in all the best ways.
"Mr. President, we... oh..."
"It's okay, you two. Come on in."
The Great Seal was the centerpiece of the Oval office. It was a legendary symbol of freedom and of patriotism. Apparently, it also made a lovely play and napping area for babies. Alexander was napping in his carrier but Madeline was laying on her back, contently suckling at her pacifier while looking up at her father contently. Alexander was in a panda bear sleeper, complete with ear hood and Madeline in a fuzzy bunny one, her hood down.
Fitz was sitting on the floor between them with a security briefing in his hands and an empty baby bottle on his left. His suit jacket was off and he was barefoot, showing off painted toenails courtesy of Krishna Rose, each toe painted a different shade of pink. Cyrus knew that a picture would surface on the internet soon, possibly before noon but definitely in time for the evening news cycle. Fitz was known for being a loving and hands on father and it was always instant political gold...
"They're getting so big."
"I know, right? What did you need, Susan?"
"Well, I... I'd like to talk to you about the Election, sir. If possible, instead of a Candidate, I would like to be Frankie Vargas' running mate. I know that everyone is expecting me to run for the Oval now but after thinking about things, I realized that I'm not ready for it yet and that I feel like I can do the most good for this country as a Vice President."
"I understand."
"You do? I-I don't want to let you and Olivia down..."
"You couldn't if you tried."
"Is she doing better? Olivia? I know that after everything that went down with that Baker scumbag, she's been really sad and the Media is so ridiculous..."
"She's doing much better, now. You know, Alex is about to wake up for his midmorning snack. Would you like to feed him?"
"God, yes..."
Cyrus nodded to himself and quietly took his leave of them, heading for Olivia's East Wing office. As the Grant Administration came closer to ending, the relocating had started. Moving was a big to-do as normal people but passing the Presidential torch was pure insanity. Olivia was planning to keep her office in DC open but mainly, she would be up in Vermont. There were talks of her teaching up there or writing a book and maybe that would happen but Cyrus knew that all she really wanted was to be a mom for a while.
Olivia Pope-Grant was still The Fixer. Even though she had turned day to day things and a lot of ownership over to her People, she was still and would always be The Fixer. When things really hit the fan, she would jump in and find a way to save the day. That would never change but, every Interview, every conversation talked about her being with her kids or doing something like gardening or beekeeping. The house...the estate in Vermont was move in ready and absolutely gorgeous. All that was left to do was to ride out the last of Fitz's final Term and then, all of the Grants/Pope-Grants would be ready to go, leaving 1600 Penn behind forever.
The staff was already in mourning and Cyrus would be lying if he said he wasn't among them. If it were up to him, them and quite frankly, most of the country, Fitz and Olivia Grant would be their POTUS and FLOTUS for the rest of their lives. Even with the infighting caused chaos, the Grant Administration had been historically successful. Everyone was glad to say that they were a part of it and it would be bittersweet for it all to end.
All good things came to an end and god knows that Fitz, Olivia, and their brood of kids deserved to happy and out of the fishbowl that was DC.
His friends...his family deserved that so he and everyone else would have to suck it up.
That was just how things worked...
"Liv?"
Win or lose, you know the Rules."
He did. All too well. Playing by the Rules was a pain in the ass but better long term. Most, if not all scandals in politics, happened because someone went out of their lane and got caught. Cyrus was no stranger to the Game and it was unlikely he would be caught but...well, as he said all those years ago, The Grant/Grant-Pope household had given his Tin Man self a heart. They had given him access to a working conscience again and honestly, it came in handy with dragon slaying. A conscience could just as effective as having no scruples. Not to mention, it made for a happier home life. James and Ella, the Gladiators, the Grants...if he was still an outright monster, he wouldn't have any of them and Cyrus wanted to keep them in his life. Love, friendship, everything that he had once scoffed at...
"The times, they are a changing."
"Change isn't always bad, my friend. Are the twins still with Fitz?"
"They are."
"I'm gonna go see them and go get some Gettysburger before picking up Krissy and Gerry. Wanna come with?"
"Sure. Just don't tell James. He's been on my ass about my cholesterol."
"My lips are sealed. Let's go."

Re: The 7x10 Intervention- 1). Fitz did NOT kidnap Liv and take her to Vermont. He asked her if she wanted to go up there and she said yes, happily so. 2). Fitz is NOT holding Liv hostage in Vermont like she was held hostage in the Red Doored Bunker of DOOM from Season 4B. If she really, really wants to leave, she’ll find a way (probably with Joke’s or Rowan’s ‘help’) and he won’t stop her once everyone gets to say their piece. 3). Fitz most certainly is NOT ‘removing her Agency’ by confronting her head on about her Evil Lady Rowana of the Sith actions with her remaining family & friends in tow. He’s actually acknowledging and respecting it by giving Liv a chance to own what she’s done or to stay in denial about it all. 4). Fitz is not the devil for doing what has needed to be done for years. Fitz isn’t the devil at all. Thanks to ‘The Titan’, the fucking devil in this whole, ugly, SENSELESS, situation is Olivia Carolyn Pope! It’s HER, not Fitz, not anyone else & you know it!
I haven’t cared enough about the show to really give y’all a Special Edition Trumpetnista Rant like this on here or Twitter in a long time but I get tired of dealing with hardheaded people. I get tired of seeing my friends having to deal with hardheaded people, especially since they’re the same idiots spewing the same shit in a different key and tempo every. single. year.
This rant isn’t too long but it is very savage towards Liv to the point of bashing and there are a lot of swear words so feel free to ignore this altogether or to skip to the end. I put a TL:DR thing just in case.
Ready?
Here we go...
Tumblr media
Olivia has fallen further into the Dark than anyone on the show, even Rowan’s bitch ass, and she needs to be stopped. And when you love someone? When you really, really love someone? You don’t let them stay broken and dark and fucked up. Not without a fight.
Fitz is doing exactly what needs to be done and he’s risking it all. Olivia could (and will likely) not listen to him or anyone else there and she’ll flounce off and stay dark and likely end Olitz for good and y’know what? That’s fine. I mean, it’s NOT because we deserve to see Olitz be happy solo and together after the steaming pile of shit Shonda has dragged us through for the last 6 years in the name of “taking back the show” and the vaunted “Journey” she goes on and on about but it’s come to the point where the ball truly is in Liv’s court. It’s in her hands and the clock is running down to the wire.
If (when) Olitz is not together in SCANDAL’s endgame, it is thoroughly Olivia’s fault and y’all will not have her avoid the ultimate L she has earned. It doesn’t work like that. Y’all can’t say that she has Agency that needs to be protected & then not hold her accountable for her colossal fuck ups. You just can’t.
Fitz has put in the work to be a better man solo and to be a better partner in a relationship. He’s far from perfect but he’s doing the damned thing. He’s free and he’s ready to be happy.
On the other hand, Olivia hasn’t done shit to make herself better or she has but she backtracks the moment things get complicated and it’s sad and ridiculous and it needs to stop. She is sad and ridiculous and she needs to stop, one way or the other.
I’d love for the Intervention to work but if doesn’t, that’s what death is for.
If this Intervention doesn’t work, if she stays dark to the bitter end, if this is really where Olivia Pope’s character arc is gonna end up, then she’s got to go. I don’t want it to be long and drawn out but she’s gotta get a bullet to the head or a terminal disease diagnosis or something else tragically Rhimesian to put her in the grave to rot for SCANDAL’s endgame in April. I never thought I’d say that and truly mean it, even after the debacle that ‘At Last’ turned out to be but here we are...floating in space...
Olivia Pope needs to be stopped.
She needs to stop.
Most of all, though?
Every idiot in or around this fandom needs to stop.
It’s the last season and we’ve got enough shit to deal with, all right?
Shut the fuck up with your Fitz hate, your pearl clutching Scarlett O’Hara-esque defense of “poor Mellie”, your Ballard & Rowan apologist/stanning think pieces, your love of Shonda’s twisted and skewed version of feminism and everything else that you’re loud and wrong about. It’s exasperating and then, you’re the ones who get the most attention from the Powers that Be so they pander to you and fuck the rest of us over.
You’re obnoxious and wrong.
You’re making the rest of us look bad.
It’s tacky, you’re tacky, & I hate you.
The remaining fandom/ex-Gladiators with common sense hate you, too.
Seriously, we’re all like:
Tumblr media
So, just stop.
Please stop and please shut up.
Shut up, pack your things, and LEAVE or if you’re not going to leave, stop interacting with people who you know don’t agree with you and stop being shocked when you get dragged for not staying in your Lane. Don’t come out here showing your ass and expecting not to get this in response:
Tumblr media
TL:DR- Joke Bastard does not love Olivia Pope. Even if (when) Olitz breaks up for good, Ojoke is NOT going to happen. They’re not gonna be endgame. They’re not even gonna fuck again at this rate (thank God) and you can go cry in the corner about it. Why is this still even a thing? Why in the world would you want Liv with him? She doesn’t deserve that, even after all of the horrible shit she has done and ordered to be done. If you say that she deserves to be sunburnt and bruised by Joke Bastard for the rest of her life, I’ma cut you.
Rowan Pope does not love Olivia Pope. He is a horrible father. He is a horrible sperm donor. He is a beast in human skin. He doesn’t care about anyone or thing but himself. It doesn’t matter that he’s showing a hint of humanity now that Liv’s become a vessel for his POWER demon. He’s still a piece of shit. He’s not a steaming piece of shit with flies buzzing around it but he is still a piece of shit that needs to be scooped or hosed off the pavement.
Hell, at this point, Olivia Pope does not love Olivia Pope.
Just look at all the choices she’s made and tell me otherwise.
I wish you could but you can’t.
Fitzgerald Thomas Grant III loves Olivia Pope.
Fitzgerald Thomas Grant III adores Olivia Pope and wants the best for her, even if it means that they can’t be together. He is willing to break his own heart (a-gain) to see Olivia Pope get help and get better.
He wants to help her, not hurt her.
The Intervention is his last ditch effort to save her from herself and if (when) it doesn’t work, it is not his fault. It is Olivia’s.
So, leave him the fuck alone and get out of here with this nonsense.
Let’s just...let’s use our brains. Let’s use our critical thinking skills. Let’s suspend enough disbelief enjoy what’s left of the show in peace, all right? That’s all I’m asking and that ain’t too much. It’s really not. Come on, people. We’re all adults here or old enough to know better...I hope.
Oh, and by the way? Those who are coming for Katie for speaking the truth about what Olivia Pope currently deserves need to have several seats. Like a stadium’s worth. All she did was tell the truth and at least she didn’t say death. I said death and meant it. Although, ending up all alone could be a better punishment...hmmm...
Something to think about.
Hope for the best, expect and accept the worst, folks.
That’s the best policy right now.
Trumpetnista, out.

CMW2/Trumpetnista: Safe (7/?)
Tumblr media
Summary from FFN: NOW A WIP: She was Olivia Pope, not Alex Jones, not Julia Baker, and she was a mess;In this AU of 4x16, instead of Alex seducing Russell to feel alive again, Olivia decides on a better course of action, a course of action that starts with a phone call to Fitz;HEAVY SPOILERS FOR SEASON 4 WITHIN;Rated for language, imagery, and later Olitz lovemaking;4th in my 2016 SSS Project
Teaser from Chapter 7: "Look, I know that I shouldn't have broken in but I've been worried about you. You won't take my calls. You won't answer my texts and when I tried to come see you at your office, I couldn't even get past the front door before Michael..."
"His name is Marcus."
"...stopped me. What did you tell him about me? What did you say to all of them?"
"Nothing other than if you came in, I didn't want to see you."
"Why?"
"Why do you think?"
"...you and Fitz aren't going to last forever. You never do."
"Fitz has nothing to do with this. It's about you and the fact that you're not a good influence in my life. You're dangerous. You're unstable. You're B613. You're Rowan's puppet, his loyal little lapdog that he can order around at whim. You may think that you're free now, that he's forgotten all about you and maybe he has but I haven't. I know who you really are, Jake. I've seen who you really are and you are not someone that I want around me as a friend or as a lover, anymore. Now, I've got 5 more bullets and the next one is going in your head if you don't leave."
"You would kill me right now?"
"...not that head, Jake."
Disclaimer for the full story: “Honestly, it’s not mine!”
"Fitz, what's going on? Why are you whispering?"
"I'm hiding in the Residence from Mellie. She thinks I'm still in the Oval."
"Are you seriously hiding from your wife?"
"Olivia, she is drunk off moonshine, eating fried shrimp, and she's singing showtunes...butchering showtunes and... the last time she drank like this, she actually asked me to have sex with her on the dining room table and I just... yes, I'm seriously hiding from my wife. I'm scared and hiding and I'm waiting for her to pass out."
"You poor, poor soul...should I send some earplugs? Gettysburger? An Exorcism kit?"
"...you're not funny."
"I'm funnier than you."
Fitz's laughter was warm in her ear and she sighed, walking towards her office windows. She could see the White House in the distance, brightly lit and beautiful. Fitz had once referred to it as the Crown Jewel of the American Prison System and that label had merit. Yes, the White House was beautiful. Yes, being the President of the United States was a great honor, the pinnacle of Power but it changed everything.
There was no true privacy. Everywhere a President went, there were Agents, staff, members of the Press around. There was always a bubble. A President couldn't just go grocery shopping or just go and get a new phone without a big to-do. There were always schemers around, people who would stab you in the back just to get a slightly bigger piece of the pie. Every person had to be vetted. No one, not even family could be trusted.
It was one of the most noble and truly one of the loneliest Jobs in the world.
And if it wasn't the President themselves being targeted, it was their loved ones.
Gerry Grant had been murdered by Rowan because of his connection to Fitz, his connection to her. Karen Grant had been recorded and blackmailed while under the influence, while having sex because she was the President's daughter. The conspiracy to kidnap her had been in the name of the Presidency. Andrew Nichols and Elizabeth North had wanted the Power by any means necessary. Rowan had wanted Power and revenge for a perceived unreasonable slight against him. Fitz hadn't done anything wrong. Gerry hadn't done anything wrong. Karen hadn't done anything wrong and Olivia was growing to accept that she hadn't done anything wrong, either. She hadn't been the one to murder Gerry Grant, to put the sick idea into Rowan's mind. She hadn't asked to be kidnapped. She didn't deserve to be kidnapped, despite all the things she had done.
It wasn't her fault.
It wasn't her fault.
Not every bad thing that happened was her fault.
It was not her fault and it certainly wasn't Fitz's fault, despite what she had screamed to the contrary.
To monsters like Rowan, it wasn't about people, not as more than pieces on their chess boards.
It was all about hoarding & abusing Power. It was all about creating Legacies that they could leech off of. It was all about soothing their malignant egos, regardless of who or what was destroyed...
"If it helps, she didn't really lose by a large margin. She had good numbers. She could try again in a few years, maybe even sooner. Seats open up all of the time and once you're out of Office..."
"You know she doesn't care about any of that."
"What? Facts?"
"You might be hearing from her soon, Livvie. She made it pretty clear who she blames for this."
"You, me, Cyrus, God, Satan, the weather, the Patriarchy, a random passerby who just couldn't get to the Voter's Booth and secure her rightful place in history..."
Fitz snickered and she continued unrepentantly, "She can blame me and the World all she wants. I don't care. I told her that I wasn't going to help her. I told her that my helping her would be seen as nothing more than nepotism and that she needed to wait, build up her own political capital, and come up with a more approachable image. She didn't want to. She didn't want to put the work in. She wanted to cut corners. She wanted everyone to do the heavy lifting for her and give her cue cards so she could reap the benefits, just like before. I was right to say no and she was right to lose."
"Consider it Handled."
"Exactly."
"Are you still at the office?"
"Not for much longer. I wanted to help with the paperwork. You know how it is. Get rid of one stack..."
"...and three more appear. How is Quinn working out as Second in Command?"
"It's good. It's really good, Fitz...I'm glad that she stayed. She had every right to leave."
"OPA is her home. You and your Gladiators are home for her."
Olivia nodded and sighed again, looking wistfully at 1600 Penn...
"I wish I was there with you or that you were here with me."
"You really don't want to be here right now, Liv. She's gone from showtunes to Dolly Parton. Poor Jolene..."
She laughed and replied, "That's not what I meant and you know it, Mister."
"...I know. It'll happen, Livvie. We'll make it happen."
"I hope so. Well, tomorrow night, if you're still alive, I'd love to hear from you. Just don't make 23 people have to stay, okay?"
"All right. Bye, Liv."
"...bye."
It was still a bit of a novelty to be leaving OPA at a reasonable hour. By the time she got to her apartment, it would be a little past 8PM instead of midnight or in the pre-dawn hours. She would be able to watch live TV if she wanted to. She could watch actual, non DVR'd TV shows instead of the news, infomercials, or porn. She wouldn't feel strange about cooking or ordering in at an odd hour. She would be able to go to her apartment and actually relax.
She had taken some of the weight of the world off of her shoulders. Olivia was still The Fixer, the go-to for help when it hit the fan, but it wasn't all on her. It had never been all on her but she was accepting help now, allowing herself to trust and delegate...
…but never drop her guard.
Exiting the elevator, Olivia could see that her apartment door was slightly ajar. It wasn't supposed to be ajar. She had locked it before she left and she wasn't expecting company. Huck was at his Veteran's Group therapy session with Quinn supporting him. Marcus was meeting with some representatives from Jack and Jill, trying to get their support behind adding classes to teach inner city youth about their Rights. Abby was at the White House. She had texted her earlier about Cyrus' latest antics and the ongoing battle for the Brandon Bill. She had just talked to Fitz and as much as she wished that he was inside her place right now, he wasn't. He was hiding from Mellie in what sounded to be a walk-in closet, possibly a bathroom like last time.
That didn't leave many options left for who could be inside.
The options she had to choose from were all bad.
Slowly, she set her bag down and pulled out her Colt .45, fighting through the icy fear that was creeping down her spine. Whoever was in her place had to go. Whether they would run for it or she would have to put a bullet in them before calling the police remained to be seen. She was licensed to carry and even though there were no signs of a robbery in progress, it wouldn't take much to...
Shaking her head, she made sure the gun was loaded before sliding out of her heels. If she had to run or hide, she didn't want anything slowing her down. Seeing movement, she pushed the door open and raised the gun. As soon as the person turned around, she undid the safety, the icy fear replaced with hot rage.
"Get the hell out!"
"Liv..."
"Get out of my apartment, Jake. Now."
"You won't shoot..."
A vase behind him shattered and she quickly loaded another bullet, thankful for the silencer.
"You broke in here after I told you to leave me alone. I can and will shoot you. Get out."
"I'm not the enemy here, Olivia! I brought you some dinner and..."
"I'm not hungry. Take the food and go. This is the last time I'm going to say it."
"Look, I know that I shouldn't have broken in but I've been worried about you.
"Olivia..."
"Leave and if I find any cameras in here or any of my things tampered with..."
"You're paranoid. You need to get some help."
"I am getting help. You just can't benefit from it. Leave!"
Jake flinched as a pillow exploded in feathers behind him and headed for the door, deliberately leaving the food on the counter. Although he was acting like he had made her a 5 course meal, it was Gettysburger and imported beer. The Gettysburger she didn't really mind but she hated beer. He knew that! He also knew that breaking in would make her uncomfortable, possibly trigger a full on panic attack but he didn't care. He was feeling scorned, feeling childish so he had pushed as many buttons as he could to get her attention.
He had gotten her attention but Olivia was certain that Jake had imagined a far different outcome.
He only cared about her when she was saving his fat from the fire or fucking him to forget.
Unless she was doing that, she was nothing to him, regardless of what he said.
His actions were his Truth.
Had he always been this immature?
As soon as he was in the vestibule, she slammed the door in his face and listened closely. He could decide to wait her out. He could decide to come back later, while she was sleeping and...
"Damn it!"
From the sound of it, Jake had punched the doors of the elevator as they closed and she was relieved that the fist hadn't touched her. Jake had pushed and choked her before. He had concussed her and pushed her into a puddle of glass shard filled water. He had pinned her to the wall by her throat in broad daylight. Punching her would be the next logical step in abusing her.
Some of their conversations involved manipulation on both of their ends. Nowadays, they ended with him yelling at her, judging her like the hypocrite he was or trying to derail her healing. Jake was dangerous. On more than one occasion, he had proven to be dangerous, lacking in humanity. Essentially, Jake Ballard (or whatever his real name was) was nothing more than a broken, rabid beast in human skin.
The fact that she had known all of that and yet still allowed him to touch her, be inside of her, and to be around her family & friends was even more proof of how disturbed she had become. How much farther would she have fallen had she not reached out to Fitz that night? If she had gone through with being Alex Jones, how much worse off would she be?
She didn't want to think about it.
She didn't want to think about hating herself and those around her that much.
Opening the door, she grabbed her bag and quickly went back inside, turning all of her locks. Jake had broken in. Only she and Huck had the keys. Huck wouldn't turn his over to Jake without her express say-so, a say-so that he'd never get again. As a matter of fact, she was tempted to call Huck and tell him what happened but that idea was quickly shelved. Part of delegating was allowing her people to have lives outside of the job. Yes, there was a rule that everyone had to be reachable and that after a certain amount of time, there was to be a search party formed.
What happened to Harrison, what Rowan had done to Harrison had been unavoidable but if she had followed the rule, if she had been thinking about more than herself, then Harrison's body would've been found sooner. However, it was no longer all about Fixing for herself or her People. And Huck was doing something at the moment to help himself get better. Olivia was not going to hinder that. That wouldn't be fair.
Still, something decisive had to be done about Jake Ballard.
It could wait until the morning.
For now, she had trash to throw out and a mess to clean up.
