He “awoke” to thundering laughter and a hand slamming against a table

You were sitting against a tree, his head in your lap, and his fellow yaksha were sat around the nearby table

Bosacius is slamming one of his hands against the table as he’s doubled over laughing

Indarias is laughing too, she’s leaning against Bonanus who’s trying not to spill her wine

Menogias is trying to use one of Cloud Retainers many inventions to grill fish with Pervases

It’s when he starts to sit up that you realize he’s awake

He notices your clothes are different, they must have been made by Menogias

Before he can say anything, he’s called up to play his flute

You join the other Yaksha at the table as he starts to play, and as he closes his eyes he sees many others approaching from the distance

Kazuha

Having settled in Inzauma with you, he finds his sleep to be deeper and more restful

This results in him dreaming more, finally able to indulge in the deep sleep required

On this night, he opens his eyes to find you crouched down with a white cat

It’s his friends, though he thinks it’s odd it’s not standing guard of his grave

Then his friend speaks from above him, calling you adorable

He looks up to find him lounging in the tree branches

His friend looks down at him and calls him lucky, asking to be invited to the wedding

Before Kazuha can say anything else, his friend jumps down and challenges you to a sparring match

You eagerly agree, declaring the winner Kazuha’s best friend

He sits back to watch, joined by the cat, with a fond smile

Heizou dreams of his friend often when the festival where they met rolls around

There was a time where Wally had a particularly big meltdown/panic attack over Home watching him. In response Barnaby invited Wally to stay at his house for a few days to see if the different environment helped at all.. which it did.

So nowadays whenever Wally gets really stressed, he crashes at Barnaby's house.. Home doesn't like Barnaby because he keeps taking Wally away from it.. 👁️👁️

But thankfully I don't think Home could really hurt Barnaby.. other than maybe opening a door causing him to stub his toe- <XD

Hmm.. I imagine that the pipes and plumbing are apart of Home. But only in the walls. The pipes the come up from the ground and attach to Home are not apart if it.

I'm thinking if you completely tore Home down and rebuilt it somewhere else, it would flicker to life again. If you split the materials of home between 2 houses, I think only one would actually be alive and "home". It would make sense if one part of Home was where its life came from. But I'm not sure what that would be.. Maybe the fireplace is the heart? Monster house style? <XD

I imagine whatever is apart/meant to be apart of Home is its body. A meteor crashing through wouldn't be part of it <XD And any hanging pictures or furniture is not apart if it. The walls are its bones and the paint becomes its skin. If you tore down a wall that wood stops being apart of Homes body the moment it is detached. If you build a new wall, it might take a moment.. but it will eventually become apart of Homes body.

As for the old rotted wood, I imagine that Wally chopped it up and used it for fire wood :0 The new wood that Wally installed in the walls became Homes new body.

Home right now can be best described as.. curious.. but also somewhat malicious. It watches Wally and Eddie because its curious about them. But it can clearly tell that watching them causes panic attacks and makes them very upset. Yet it doesn't stop. If anything it watches them more intensely when they cry..

When it comes to if they could figure out what it wants.. its hard to say if Home even really wants anything. It just likes to watch and see the Wally react to its stares... that, an the fact that Home probably cant communicate outside of slamming windows and doors-

just watched my first ever performance of les mis and i'm experiencing every emotion ever and i need to write them all down quickly before i go to sleep so i don't forget them .ok . in some approximate order

the prisoners during look down would each like. look up for their individual line and then whoever was next to them would reach over and pull them back down which i thought was so good

hoogh the staging. the STAGING .

several of the scenes looked (i think very intentionally) like.....religious paintings...??? im sorry i dont have a better way to describe it im not catholic but like. the first one im thinking of is jean valjean and the bishop during the "i have bought your soul for god" scene . there were like definitely Intentional Pauses so you could Admire the Staging and Lighting. which i did

incidentally i wasnt counting the amount of times people crossed themselves in this show but it was A Lot

after "i'll escape now from this world... from the world of JEAN VALJEAAAAAAAAAN" the stage went black and then the words "les miserables" were projected on the screen and my dad (who was next to me) went "OH that was just the PROLOGUE??"

ohhhhh god fantine's death scene hit me like a truck. that was the first moment i cried at and oh god i cried really hard. i had forgotten that it was to the tune of on my own. awuagh

after little cosette sang "she says...cosette, i love you very much..." i distinctly heard someone in the audience GASP and go "ohhhhh...."

madame thenardier was GREAT, she sang every line like she was rolling her eyes. also she made some. Gestures with a baguette during master of the house

beautiful little moment: after jvj gave cosette the doll she gasped, kind of backed away from him in shock, and then paused and ran towards him and hugged him, and then there was a noticeable moment where he sort of didn't know what to do for a second and then hugged her back and scooped her up to carry her away. waugh

i didn't realize until just now that it works so well to have gavroche be singing what's basically the intro to "okay so here's what's happening now. this is paris and it sucks," because gavroche is the character introduced at the start of the 1832 book!!! the gamin expresses paris!! i love that!!!! also gavroche was excellent. adore that boy

enjolras was Very Blond and Very Enjolras-y. when grantaire tried to flop on him he pushed him away and then they made Intense Eye Contact about it

gavroche delivered "general lamarque is dead" surprisingly solemnly and quietly, and there was a moment of silence that i thought really brought in the gravity of the moment well

also he got up on a table to say it and afterwards enjolras patted him on the shoulder (which he did a lot) and then picked him up and lifted him off the table :)

marius actually CLIMBED OVER THE GATES to cosette's house, i was very impressed

ONE DAY MOOOOOORE was sooo good

the thenadiers peered out of one of the really tall windows and had a little periscope (??) to look at the revolutionaries with

the barricade was very striking, if lacking in Symbolic Coffin. very pointy looking though

my dad said "is that javert??" a few minutes after javert appeared at the barricade and his reaction to the reveal was EXCELLENT

gavroche flipped off javert LMAO

little fall of rain was very good but the thing that hurt me the most was that towards the very end gavroche came on stage, saw what was happening, stepped towards her, and was pulled back a bit by grantaire. and then after she died gavroche went forward and picked up her hat and gave it to marius, and then walked away, and when grantaire reached out towards him he just kind of walked past. it was a really really good bit of like. subtle characterization and plot and just AAAAAA

"is your life just one more LIE" in drink with me was very directly addressed to enjolras, who then had another moment of Very Intense Eye Contact with grantaire. then they stormed off to opposite sides of the barricade and gavroche, who was sort of standing between them looking worried, looked back and forth a few times and then went over to grantaire and hugged him :((

the barricaders in general were so good

jvj hit an INSANELY high note at the end of bring him home

THEY DID SOMEHTING VERY CRUEL AND FUCKED UP and had gavroche's song of little people be interrupted by a gunshot and a gasp from the barricade, and THEN he started singing AGAIN, and everyone seemed relieved, and he came back up over the barricade and THEN. GUNSHOT. and. enjolras caught him and held him and then like. passed him down the barricade to grantaire??? in this incredibly lit and really like. again. like it looked like a painting . i am rapidly losing coherency. it hurt so bad man

the one thing i am sad about (WELL. IM SAD ABOUT A LOT. BUT I MEAN SPECIFICALLY ABOUT THE ADAPTATION FROM BOOK TO MUSICAL) is that grantaire and enjolras didn't die holding hands :((

at least they got one more moment of Very Intense Eye Contact in (after gavroche's death...)

oh GOD enjolras in the cart hurt so bad. WITH THE FLAG. i really thought he was evoking some famous painting but i could be wrong

javert knelt down over gavroche's body, shook his head, crossed himself, gently tapped gavroche, and then stood up and pointed at him so the cart guy would take him away

enjolras had like. one hand dangling out of the cart when it came in, but as it was leaving the stage the other hand dropped which was a FANTASTIC acting moment . also damn those actors were great at pretending to be dead

javert's suicide was BRILLIANTLY staged, somehow the actor really made it look like falling while standing up the whole time (possibly being raised somewhat? unsure)

he was also the only character who's death was not shown in illuminating light . which. damn.

turning turning hit me unexpectedly hard. ooooof

and then empty chairs at empty tables was. well. i dont think i need to say more. the lights were a fantastic choice

i think i started crying at "it is the story of those who always loved you" but honestly the entire last song was really blurry. IT OPENED WITH JEAN VALJEAN LIGHTING THE CANDLESTICKS. THE CANDLESTIIIIIICKS

also gavroche was standing between enjolras and grantaire when they first came out which i have to think was intentional

Autumn (not here :( ) :That Thing, demiromantic ace, he/it, no clue what is going on, accidentally funny, tries its best to make people like it, fails miserably, Wet Cat, does not believe in self care, incredible chef, like things with instructions cus they’d heard to mess up,

Thaw: Whatever You Want, Baby *wink*, bi demiromantic, xe/he/she, flirty as heck, infinite rizz, “your honor, nuh uh,” tbhkinda mean, passive aggressive about everything, knows exactly what to get people as gifts, really good at reading people,

The first three were created by Sun and Moon, but Thaw is an “artificial season”, made by Winter and Spring. They all have full power over their domain, and can create elements of their season. Winter is the patron of cloven animals, that which is already dead, guiding of souls to the afterlife, pottery, mourning, and they were the first season to exist, as they prepare the earth for life to Spring forth. get it. cause you know. Winter and then Spr ok i’m done. Spring is the patron of the beginning of life (as in babies and kids and stuff), guiding new souls into bodies, the waters, music, plant life, reptiles, and all aquatic animals. Summer is the patron of life(as in actual living), creatures of the air(besides bats) and insects, care if they physical body, fertility, and visual art, like paintings n drawings and things that go on a flat surface.

Autumn is a bit different. The 3 previous seasons were made by both Moon and Sun, the former having existing longer than the latter. The Primordials simply came into being, but Moon was first. Cus of a lot of creation myths and stories start with darkness, and then light. So Moon was there, and then Sun. They got bored of sitting and staring at an empty space rock. So they made the Seasons, and gifted them with creation.

It was just the first 3 for a while, but Sun got resentful. Moon was always the one who had the ideas, and executed them, and Sun hated that Moon was loved more by the Seasons, even though Sun was kinder. Sun decided to prove Sun was just as good at creating as Moon, so Sun made Autumn. Autumn was lacking morality, kindness, the ability to communicate, and was basically a shell of what it could have been.

The 3 eventually met Autumn, and since they were gifted with creation, they did their best to ‘fix’ Autumn. And they did, but not perfectly, since only a Primordial is the only being that can make fundamental changes like that. So Autumn is a little odd. It’s still learning how to be ‘human’ but it Knows and it Loves. And that’s all anyone can ask. Autumn is the patron of death(like the actual cease of life), removing of souls from bodies, harvest, all animals with paws, he art of writing in any form, and physical illness.

Thaw, on the other hand, was made by Winter and Spring pretty early on, a little bit before the 3 met Autumn. They got curious about the extent of their creation power, and created the first Lesser, Thaw. Inconveniently for them, Thaw was not created as an adult or even a teen, Thaw came to be as small child, about 4-5 in our years. So imagine two teens trying to raise a baby. Even though Spring is the patron of babies n kids n stuff, Winter stepped up, and tried to parent. Spring ended up taking Thaw at relative age 16, but until then, it was a weird coparenting thing.

Once Thaw was old enough to be independent, he held a lot of resentment for his “parents”, especially Winter. It took a while to reconcile, and his relationship with Winter is still strained, but everyone tries their best. the fact that etho decided that he was just going to be Very Nice To Bdubs.

bdubs? he must have been euphoric. he was finally given a spot in ethos heart in the way etho always has one in his. this was some sign that said hey, i matter to him too!

which only made it worse for him when etho did things for grian and cleo he would never do for him.

bdubs wondering if it meant anything at all to etho, or if it was some big joke. if he and his stupid big heart was some joke to etho. if etho understood that all itd take to get bdubs on his side was the slightest attention that way, dropping the act once he was satisfied with bdubs devotion.

to bdubs, it sure would be looking like he didn't ever matter to etho, only what he could do to keep etho alive did. nothing about his wellbeing or even happiness mattered to etho

Brother when I tell you that the be nice to bdubs day episode makes me sick after what etho did. Oh my god. Oh my god.

The thing is about etho is that, he doesn't lie to bdubs. I don't think he does, anyway. All that kindness he offered bdubs - well, it was obviously a bit to embarrass him, but it was also all true. He doesn't like to lie to bdubs. He's haunted by the time he promised something (a life) and didn't deliver, to the point where when he did it again (promised to help bdubs with anything he needed, then laughed at his face when bdubs sought out his help) he felt SICK

Etho doesn't like to make promises, because he hates not to deliver on them. Bdubs loves to make promises he wholeheartedly intends to deliver on, or that he hopes the receiving party will know he'll try his heart off to deliver on. Bdubs values, so much, the very act of trying, the intent behind it. Etho values results. It's a dissonance neither can really see. So it leads to miscommunication and misunderstandings

Bdubs has promised so much to etho, so many times - etho must believe the words empty, no matter how earnest bdubs is. Meanwhile, because Etho is so careful about managing expectations, he comes off as... Aloof. As not returning even half of bdubs' earnest feelings. It's such a difference in their expression of love.

Etho felt bad, and thus he pushed himself to express love in a way bdubs would understand - through words of adoration. But then he immediately returned to his old ways. Immediately withdrew, as if scared. Because he is scared. In truth, he's terrified of the feelings he holds for bdubs, and how much it can hurt the both of them. But instead of seeing that, Bdubs can only see it as Etho playing a sick game with him. Bdubs, so starved for Etho's attention and love and devotion.

I doubt he would've promised cleo or grian he would protect them against the boogeys. He's told cleo before, that he's not a protector. He doesn't want to give the impression he is because he hates the idea of betraying that impression. But in the moment, he did become a protector. But it's that seed of doubt that it plants that hurts so much.

Because now, Bdubs will always see etho and remember that he refused to vow his protection to bdubs, whilst turning around and protecting his allies. He'll always see etho and remember that heartbreak.

He feels like he's been throwing so, so much love to a complete brick wall. Somethings gotta snap.

I want bdubs to either kill etho or try to hurt him - to genuinely go after him. But also if he does - if either of them do - I'll have a category 10 ethubs meltdown I s2g

1. The skyline in the first page of the new chapter is incredible. Green and especially those shades are my favorite color.

2. The animal gangoon design oh my GOD it's PERFECT. I had imagined something similar when I was writing one of the chapters in my fic!!!

1. Thank you!! Im so happy with how that intro page came out. I’m doing more and more photobashing lately, which was something I used to do a lot more about ten years ago. It’s a fun way to use the photoshop techniques I have that aren’t just for painting.

On that first page I used a combination of hand painting, photos of the city, special brushes and detail textures, and then kinda mashed them all together using different layer modes and gradient maps. I think the original skyline was purple and pink, and the server units were blue grey. Then I added in clouds and extra buildings, distorted the lights and added more of my own, put in the OakTex hologram, and just kinda fiddled with “lighten” and “darken” layers of texture until it felt right. :)

2. YES! THE BEAST MASK! I was deeply inspired by the work of MissMonster who is a powerful illustrator and craftsperson who makes INCREDIBLE monster masks. The snarling faces and big tusks are such a vibe. Just over all really beautiful work. One of my dream goals is to one day be able to get my hands on one of the mask blanks so I can do a custom paint job.

In Burner there is a whole subculture of custom respirators and filters (there were supposed to be a couple examples in ch 4 but I forgor 😔so I will be doing a retcon) so masks and unusual headgear are super common. Think the customized COVID masks we started seeing about a year in. Some folks also use face garblers due to Camera Everywhere, but an enforcer like [REDACTED] needs something practical that can’t be decoded, so a full face mask does plenty to get the job done.

3. OK BUT SAME haha Hhh I have only just started thumbnails but I have had the script for the next three/four parts ready for months. I’m foaming at the mouth and getting very activated because this next part will be featuring lots of food, cyberware-focused subcultures, and introducing more stuff about Ross and Shiro’s relationship. So I am

EXCITE.

Getting the sleep I did last night helped a lot, but I need some more so I’m not going to start steamrolling forward just yet. But! I’ve been doing a lot of sketchbook studies of people eating food, updated some character portraits, doing some short expression sheets, and took photos of tunnels and streets from around the city to refer to for the car scenes. :)

your message means a lot to me. I actually I saw it shortly after you sent it! But I have been wayyy beyond dysfunctional l so I wanted to wait to reply until I could write something more thought-out ❤️

Aaaaaaa I hope one day I’ll have the mental capacity to write that long Martha fic in my head where post s3, she gets scooped up by UNIT so quickly, falls into bad habits including a terrible relationship with alcohol that sneaks up on her because “it’s just one drink because I need it to sleep”, jumps headfirst into the relationship with Tom that is just stagnant, because both of them are just clinging to a past where they trauma bonded, only Tom can’t handle being in London because it’s too much, and runs away via Doctors Without Borders, and Martha pretends she’s ok with it, because of course she is, she’s the woman who walked the earth, how can she not be ok with it, and she clings to her family but at the same time is absolutely suffocated by still being the only one keeping them together, because their issues have only been exacerbated, and she misses the Doctor, she misses him more than anything, but he was so toxic, and she knows that, and in the middle of the night she wishes she had just died permanently that year because surely it would have been easier than what she’s feeling now, and she doesn’t need anyone but she wants someone, and my god is she never letting anyone in that can hurt her the way that the Doctor has,,,,,,,and finally, FINALLY, she falls apart and learns that she is allowed to grieve, that she’s allowed to ask for help, and she is worth it!!!

AHHHHHHH i just read two of the works in your shadow of yotsuya collection ITS SO GOOD ITS SO GOOD OH MY GOD i dont think ive ever read a SOC fic that i've loved quite THIS MUCH AHHHHHH AHHHHHH its got me kicking my legs and giggling. first off the whump is amazing i love it its beautiful and your WRITING i need to pull specific quotes but i'll get those later AHHHHH the fact that its polycrowstoo?!!? YESSSS!!! YES!!!! YES!!!!! the OCS you write are so so like fleshed out its beautiful usually-sometimes im like "okk watever im not like emotionally tethered to their wellbeing" when people add ocs because i want to read about the characters from the canon and stuff but all the characters you've introduced are SO SO SO SO so so so so so so amazing.. obv oiwa is amazing and having the sibling bond between her and kaz shot and killed me and the 3 sisters were so SO good, (also ms. able was so cute she reminds me of the woman who owns a crafts store near where i live who lets me take free buttons sometimes) ,, AAAAaaa even the villian whos name i forgot how to spell, , mr. v something? like him being coocoo bananas is cool and having the connections with nina.. ugh oh my god kaz not wanting to tell them stuff because he doesnt watn them to be paranoid.. SCREAMS!!!! its so good ITS SO GOOD AHHHH this is one of those fics i wanna print out and get a hardcover copy of so i can annotate it and sleep with it under my pillow etc ok now i gotta show u the parts i loved the mostest (but there was NOT A SINGLE PART i didnt like bcuz all of it is amazing10/10 beautiful showstopping): -ok 1stly the DICTION the ADJECTIVES YOU USE ahhhh okay "A haunting image she had supposedly made, her dead eyes staring at the heavens as if she would tear them from the sky for what had been done to her." GAH DAMN!!! this is such a beautiful line its so poetic

-also "Stray cats, slow doves," and the rest of that paragraph is pretty too but i really liked that line its so like.. not quaint but i cant think of another word.. i love your descriptions of kaz's childhood with jordie D: heartbreaking at the same time tho -"He dashed the thought of it against the stones." -OH AND the hollow beings paragraph part Hollow beings filled themselves with whatever they could get a hold of, and they were both so very hollow in the wake of what they had been through. YES YES uguahfUAEGDUHB this part especially aaaaaa -ALSO all the dog references reminds me of that other soc poster who writes about the dog metaphors.. yesssss yesss!!! Haven’t been able to since I got out of the basement.” OWWWW my soul. it hurts in my heart) -the gorier parts where kaz was being tortured were SO GOOD too ahhhhhhh the 'decaying' and 'carving' i felt like i was reading ummm what was that book. we have always lived in this castle or like.. the castle of otranto. verygoth lit vibes it was really fluid.. yssss that and the descriptions of the basement and the corpses definitely were giving edgar allen poe

-also kkaz's drugged speech was so funny. and also sad but mostly funny "Such a ‘powerful’ Grisha he had made. He couldn’t even withstand a kid who bent spoons and talked to ghosts. "

-"“The Shadow of Yotsuya was a vegetarian,” Kaz snarked, “But the Butcher’s Blade on the East Stave loves to chew up his victims. He prefers them stubborn and skeptical, too, I hear.”" Oomgg i didnt catch the reference to the 2nd part when i read it the first time,,,

OH ALSO i loved that you had kaz like translate/interpret what she was saying that KILLED me but also i reallyliked that it wasnt an exact copy of what waynoka said,, ""Kaz pursed his lips at that. “I’m not good at being strong or happy.”" i love that all the dialouge had to be like...filtered through kaz's fucked up lense from the barge, esp cuz the sisters relationship is such a close mirror to his and jordiessss HHsfadfbgfgdghtrfgbhgtr i loved that it was so similar u write SO WELL aeugsbfiefrgrerfgrtghjmhgfdrghygfSAFDGUISEDGVRSIUONGSN

Ahh! Thank you so so much! I am truly honored to hear you like the story so far! Shadow of Yotsuya was a lot more of my own personal brand of brain rot compared to some of my other fics (I am such a horror fan, and I couldn't help but sprinkle some horror into the GV), so every time I hear people like it I giggle and kick my feet and scream and chew at the walls. Ahh! Thank you, I don't think I could ever really articulate how happy this makes me to read!

My sisters were the inspiration for the trio, so hearing they aren't boring ocs makes me feel a little less self conscious haha! I get that feeling sometimes too, where I care more about the pre-established characters than the OCs, so I really tried extra hard to make them feel like they'd naturally be a part of the Grishaverse - even though I lie awake at night knowing full well I have taken so many creative liberties with the extended lore and cultures that Leigh created! I'm so happy they don't feel out of place!

I really enjoy delving into perspective and how each Crow is technically an unreliable narrator because their own past experiences skew how they are interpreting what's going on - once I finish the series I was even considering going back and writing a bonus little ficlet where we see the Verzamelaar mansion indecent from Jaya and Kishori's perspective to show just how scary Kaz can be sometimes, but I have to actually finish the story first haha! And trust me, we are going to get a LOT more polycrow content now that the crows are starting to catch up on what has been happening

Please never apologize for being enthusiastic - this literally made my month reading it and I'm not even exaggerating. Plus I know I can't be the only one who gets excited when people comment on their fics! Seriously, you are far too kind, I really can't stress how cool it is to see quotes of my own writing analyzed and talked about back with me. Like. That is my literal dream right there!
