Witch Hat Atelier by Kamome Shirahama wouldn't look out of place in Kadokawa and Enterbrain's magazine Harta. In fact, Shirahama's previous series Eniale & Dewiela ran on this magazine.
Other licensed titles from the magazine include A Bride's Story by Kaoru Mori, Call the Name of the Night by Tama Mitsuboshi, The Coppersmith's Bride by namo, Delicious in Dungeon by Ryoko Kui, Go with the Clouds, North-by-Northwest and Ran and the Gray World by Aki Irie, Hakumei and Mikochi: Tiny Little Life in the Woods by Takuto Kashiki, Haven't You Heard? I'm Sakamoto by Nami Sano, Hinamatsuri by Masao Ohtake, Immortal Hounds by Ryo Yasohachi, Nicola Traveling Around the Demons' World by Asaya Miyanaga, Stravaganza: The Queen in the Iron Mask by Akihito Tomi, Touge Oni: Primal Gods in Ancient Times by Kenji Tsurubuchi, and Wolfsmund by Mitsuhisa Kuji.
I hope Aoi Horus no Hitomi by Chie Inudoh and Vlad Drăculea by Akiyo Ohkubo would get licensed too. Both are historical manga series starring rulers but they couldn't be more different. I love Inudoh's vibrant world of ancient Egypt in Aoi Horus no Hitomi and Ohkubo's Vlad III, Stephen III, Mehmed II, Ilona Szilágyi, and Radu III in the grim world of late medieval Eastern and Central Europe and the Ottoman Empire in Vlad Drăculea.

A new trailer has been released for the upcoming anime series Hinamatsuri ^_^
For those who don't know, this anime is based on the manga by Ohtake Masao about a high ranking Yakuza member named Nitta who one night gets an unexpected guest in the form of a young girl trapped in a metal cocoon that just suddenly appeared out of thin air in his apartment
This girl - Hina - is a powerful psychic user from the future, who decides to stay (much to his dismay) with Nitta, who now not only has to deal with her selfish, lazy attitude, but also the problem that if she doesn't use her powers often enough they'll go out of control and start destroying everything around her
Animated by Studio Feel., and directed by Oikawa Kei (Kono Bijutsubu ni wa Mondai ga Aru!, Outbreak Company), the anime will be out in April 6th

Reluctant Reader Wednesday: Hinamatsuri: Vol. 1 by Masao Ohtake
A man named Nitta works for the yakuza crime syndicate. He lives with a girl named Hina, who appears to have supernatural abilities. Hina dropped into Nitta’s home out of thin air, trapped in a strange oblong container, until he flipped a switch and released her. Ever since then, she has been ordering him around, demanding her favorite foods and using her psychokinetic abilities when she doesn’t get her way.
Give this book to readers who enjoy manga that’s filled with science fiction, humor, and plenty of action!

Since I made a junky post earlier, I thought I’d better include a proper one as well. The above is from Hinamatsuri, by Ohtake Masao.
I’d kind of collected various positive reactions towards it over time, and recently decided to try it out. It hardly bears repeating, but it really is quite fantastic. It manages to combine humor, emotionally-touching interactions, quirky unique characters, and a real world yet slightly surreal sci-fi setting involving, I guess we might say, the daily lives of ‘esper’ schoolgirls and their friends, political dynamics in the Yakuza, and other similarly unique and endearing characters. Basically it’s a very enjoyable read, even if that’s belied by the sometimes poor scanlation (sorry but it’s true! still grateful for it anyhow, obviously). It’d be great to see this licensed in English. Not thinking about publisher relationships at all, but I remember Vertical licensed the shounen Tokyo ESP which feels like it might have a similar kind of premise (I tried out the first volume but found it very un-engaging, unfortunately.. maybe someday I’ll give it another chance). So I suppose there’s a possibility.. They’d probably do a good job.
