Hi macrocosmos. Uh. I’ve been struggling to work on this guys since… fuck forever ago. Mostly cause I was stumped on how should I write his backstory and tie it to a… certain someone.
Tumblr media
… Yeah with him redesigned I finally got around to finish their lore. Not… exactly fleshed out, but I got the general idea down more concrete, I think.

Cookies and all that
(Warning: I’m not a good writer and I speedran this within a day)
This was an idea since Valentine’s actually, though I’m not a good writer so at the time I just decided to post the drawings then dip, until someone suggested something TNN and T2085 centric that this idea came up again, so………
“What’s with… all these…?”
Naru looked up from the pile of ingredients she just bought and faced Technopolis, who was standing at the entrance of their shared kitchen, bewildered.
“Baking?”
“I mean I get it but… why so much?” She said, pointing at the same pile of ingredients that is almost overflowing the island cabinet.
“Cause I wanna bake for everyone!” Naru clasped her hands. “Some of them didn't get anything last Valentines, so I wanna do something so they won't be left out!”
“…” Technopolis paused for a moment. “Naru… you know you don’t know how to bake, right?”
“And THAT’S why…” Naru refuted as she rummaged through the ingredients pile “I brought a cooking book with me! At a 50 percent discount at that. " she said, very triumphantly.
Technopolis really didn’t get why she would pay for something she really could’ve gotten for free digitally, but she digresses, her job is to ensure her safety, not to question her financial choices.
“You can’t stop me, Techno! I’ll get this done, no matter what!”
“… Whatever you say, miss Naru.”
__
“Miss Naru, you missed this spot.”
“Oh, right-”
30 minutes into their baking attempt, and they were barely into the first steps of their “easy chocolate chip cookie” recipe. Perhaps it was the sheer volume of butter and sugar they had to mix that was slowing them down, or it was them having to dig through their pile of ingredients because Naru didn’t think she should organize them. Either way, they both have been vigorously stirring at the massive bowl for at least 10 minutes by then.
“Miss Naru, don’t you think we should… make a few smaller batches as experiments first?” Technopolis suddenly suggested.
“Eh? I mean…” Naru thought for a while.
“If we didn’t screw up, we just made a batch of cookies, and if we did screw up, at least it wasn’t a massive batch and we wouldn’t waste everything.”
“A… I… guess that makes sense.”
And so they set aside the oversized bowl of butter and sugar, and start again at a much smaller portion.
__
“Ack! Why is this one so salty!?”
“… You misplaced sugar with salt.”
“WHAT.”
__
“Why is… this one hard as a rock…?”
Naru turns to Technopolis, who is hard focused into biting the cookies like a beaver biting into a log of wood.
“Well it’s… a failed attempt either way.”
__
“…” Naru makes a weird expression as she bites through the new batch. “I don’t think this is supposed to be the right texture.”
Technopolis opened up and searched on her holograph. “We added too much flour, apparently.”
“Ah…” Naru sighed. “Taste is better than last time, though?”
And to that, Technopolis nodded.
__
“… What are we even doing anymore.” Technopolis flatly stated after another batch of “taste good but the texture felt funny again” cookies.
“Our best, of course!” Naru quickly refuted. “One more batch! This one will be it!”
“… What the hell. Sure.”
__
“…!”
“…”
“It… actually tasted good…?”
“Seems like everything is just right, then…”
“Hmmm!” Naru excitedly nodded. “Looks like we can move on to work with the bigger batch, then!” And to that, Technopolis, once again, nodded.
__
“Done! Aaaand it actually tasted good this time!” Naru cheered as they set the trays of freshly baked cookies onto the table. By the time they were done, almost a full day had passed, the sounds of birds outside their window had long been replaced by the silence of sunset.
“Now we need to package them all and send them to everyone?” Technopolis asked as she pulled out the oven glove from her hands, “You did buy some sort of bags to put them in, right?”
“Yep!” Naru replied as she pulled out an entire stack of cookie bags and rolls of ribbons.
__
“Cookies?” ANU asked tiredly as the two stood in front of her office, their hands holding a neat little bag of cookies tied with a blueish ribbon, it was rather late into the night by the time they started delivering the cookies, after all.
“Yeah! We heard you guys didn’t get anything for Valentine’s so we made these so you guys won’t feel left out!”
“…Oh!” Was all she could exclaim. “Thanks but… aren’t you guys pretty busy?”
“It’s fine. We just finished work yesterday so we did have today off.” Technopolis answered
“Oh if that’s the case then… you wouldn’t mind me taking it?” ANU asked, as she took the cookies from their hands.
“Nope!”
“Nah.”
“Oh also,” Naru paused as she rummaged through the massive, pulling out five more cookie bags, each with differently colored ribbons: one dull gold and purple, one orange, one turquoise, one red, and one bright blue. “Would you mind giving this to the other Overseers? We probably wouldn’t have enough time to make it to each of their places if we wanted to give this much…” Naru said as she glanced at the still full bag of cookie bags.
“Oh. Ah- Yeah!” I’ll contact them to come collect it for you guys if you’re too busy.” ANU said as she grabbed the bags and pulled out her hologram, already preparing to make a call to the Overseers.
“Alright, thanks then!” Naru exclaimed as she hurriedly grabbed Technopolis and ran off.
“N- No problem…?” ANU watched as their silhoutte get smaller and smaller, dust still flying with how fast they ran.
__
“Oh thank you~ You both flatter me very much~”
“Damn, just coo- OW.” “What he MEANS is. Thank you for your generosity.”
“T-Thank you. I’ll try to get you guys something later, I promise…!”
“Oh, thanks….. you two want me to deliver it to the Scaleholders, too? Ehhhhh fine. I’ll pass their thanks to you too, I suppose.”
__
Sitting on a bench in the central park, Naru and Technopolis finally took a breather as they finally finished delivering their cookie bags, both of them worn out. It was barely past 12 at midnight by then, and the once big bag filled with cookie bags has been reduced to a single bag of cookies, one with a golden ribbon, one they made specifically for them.
“MAN,” Naru exclaimed through her breaths and sweat. “That took way longer than I had initially thought.”
Technopolis hummed in response, pulling the final bag out for themselves and started to untie the bag to-
“… Technopolis? Naru? What are you both doing out so late?”
They both looked to the source of the voice.
“Van?”
“Mister Vanquisher!?”
World Vanquisher stood right in front of them, he seemed a bit battered and dirty, compared to how clean and shiny he usually appears.
“You know that applies to you as well, what the f… heck happened?” Technopolis asked back.
“Decided to visit the Outer Ruins for a bit since I was free earlier and got carried away.” He quickly replied, before settling himself next to them on the empty spot on the bench.
“… Ok yeah that explains the amount of sand you got on your feet and wings.”
“You still didn’t explain why the both of you are out at the dead of night.”
“We were delivering our handmade cookies!” Naru jumped in, holding up the bag of cookies they still had. “Cause… Some people didn’t have anything for Valentine’s, so we wanted to do something for them… Would you like some, mister Vanquisher?”
“Just call me Van, you’re fine.” He said as he picked up a small cookie from the bag, and took a bite. “… Pretty good.”
“Oh- really?” Naru asked.
“Yeah,” Vanquisher continued as he shoved the last bit of the cookie. “Pretty sweet, the high amount of chocolate chips definitely is an appeal for many- if this is your first time, then yes I think this is a pretty good attempt.”
“Oh! Um, thank you, mister Van!”
“It’s… Ah well, that’s a step.” He said, before standing up. “You both should go back, by the way. Even when we’re in peace time, midnight is still not a safe time to be in.”
He then stared at Technopolis for a moment, “Aaaand Techno looks like she’s going to pass out any moment.”
“Ah-” Naru took a turn to see Technopolis half asleep, and quickly stood up, grabbed her bodyguard by the shoulder, and led themselves away, back to their home.
They’ve done much that day, and if Van said it’s good then she would like to believe that it tasted good for everyone they passed cookies onto as well.
__
“Oh, and Naru?” Vanquisher suddenly called as the girls walked, and Naru turned around to face him again.
“Yeah?”
“Do you know who left a tub of vanilla ice cream in front of my room on Valentines?”
Oh shit- “Oh- Uh- UM. UH. N…. No…?” Naru nervously answered.
“….” He stared at her for a moment.
“………” She barely stared back, trying to avoid eye contact with him, until he broke the silence.
“If you figure out who they are, can you pass my gratitude to them for me?”
“UH. Will do! Uh- See you!” She quickly took her chance, and basically speed walked, Technopolis still on her shoulders.
“… Be safe, then.” Vanquisher said as they walked away, before finally letting out a long sigh, ever so longingly looked up the sky.
