Beatrice is closer to Sean than she is with Hotch. This is only because Hotch left for boarding school and she grew up alongside Sean. Hotch only interacted with them during breaks and the occasional letter. 

All of the Hotchner children attended boarding schools: Hotch and Sean attended Georgetown Preparatory School while Beatrice attended Chatham Hall. Hotch was the only one who went to boarding school late because he was adamant he could get into Georgetown without it. Needless to say, he lost that battle against their dad and left his junior year after meeting Hailey. 

Hotch was considered a star pupil and his reputation was renowned at Georgetown Prep. Sean hated being compared to Hotch and purposefully did average in order to stop the comparisons. This did not sit well with their dad, who he frequently argued with. 

Beatrice got her name when Hotch came across Dante’s The Divine Comedy in their family library. 

All three used to be religious, but after the death of their father, they stopped attending services. He died after Beatrice graduated from Chatham Hall from lung cancer. 

Much to her annoyance, Beatrice is easily mistaken for the youngest sibling because of her stature. Adding to that, people think she is Sean’s twin because they look alike. 

Beatrice and Hotch’s relationship improves to the point she moves in with him during his divorce to help out. After Hailey’s death, she helps Hotch take care of Jack. 

Hotch never refers to Beatrice by her nickname. Sean was the one who came up with it and only refers to her real name when he is serious.

After Hailey’s death, Sean decides to make more of an effort to be there for his family and they have finally established a day where they all spend time with Jack.

Who is the most affectionate?: Definitely Klaus. He likes little snuggles and resting his head on Violet’s shoulder or on her lap. Violet loves giving affection, but only when they are alone. The most she can do in public is slight hand-holding. 

Big spoon/Little spoon? Klaus definitely loves it when Violet snuggles right behind him. Although she doesn’t want to admit it, Violet loves being the big spoon.

Most common argument? Definitely the drinking on Klaus’ end. Violet is under a strict no drug and alcohol ruling for her ballet company so when Klaus openly drinks, she gets annoyed that he doesn’t respect it. Klaus usually argues about Violet having a stick up her butt. 

Favorite non-sexual activity? Klaus loves listening to Violet play on the piano. He finds her playing relaxing. Violet, on the other hand, loves it when she catches Klaus enjoying his music and when he begs her to dance with him. 

Who is most likely to carry the other? Klaus when it involves them listening to his music. He likes picking her up and gently spins her around, clutching her tight as she rests her head on his shoulders. 

What is their favorite feature of their partner’s? Violet LOVES Klaus’ eyes. She finds them very mesmerizing. Klaus loves Violet’s smile because she hardly smiles and when she does, it’s genuine and never forced. 

What’s the first thing that changes when they realize they have feelings for the other? Klaus begins to call her Liebling (darling) and Violet’s voice becomes more high-pitched whenever she spoke to him. She also becomes shy around him and finds herself missing him more whenever Reginald took him away for his personal training. 

Nicknames? & if so, how did they originate? Same as above, Klaus calls her Liebling because he finds out that Reginald retrieved him from Germany and learns some German phrases as a result and Violet calls him Klau as a term of endearment and Mon cher (My darling) when she finds out she is French. 

Who worries the most? Definitely Violet because Klaus was the well-known troublemaker in the family and because of the illicit activities he picked up on after being traumatized by Reginald’s training sessions. 

Who remembers what the other one always orders at a restaurant? They never went out to restaurants, but Klaus remembers Violet’s order from Griddy Doughnuts whenever they snuck out for a date or with the family: ANYTHING. She loves her sugar :P

Who initiates kisses? Depends on the mood. Majority of the time, it’s Klaus because Violet gets shy.

Most common argument? Picking up things that they leave on the ground. They both have extremely busy careers and so when they turn in for the night, they just leave things on the floor and leave it for when they wake up. 

Favorite non-sexual activity? Diego and Violet like taking small drives in his car to explore scenic routes. 

Who is most likely to carry the other? Diego because Violet is stubborn and he likes putting her over his shoulder. 

What is their favorite feature of their partner’s? Diego is a butt person and so is Violet ;D

What’s the first thing that changes when they realize they have feelings for the other? Diego is the literal definition of “when a guy starts liking a girl, he’s mean to her” when they were younger. When they reunite a decade later, Diego tries to make amends and is gentle with how he treats/speaks to her. Violet stops being overly flirtatious with him and becomes more aware of how she portrays herself. 

Nicknames? & if so, how did they originate? When they were younger, DIEgo and VIOLEnT because Violet would wish that Diego would drop dead and Diego would accuse Violet of being too violent because of her temper. Older, Violet doesn’t have a nickname other than typical pet names but Diego adopts “Vi”. 

Who worries the most? Violet because of Diego’s vigilante career. She hates it when he comes home with more injuries and bruises and is left nursing him.

Who remembers what the other one always orders at a restaurant? Diego because Violet is extremely picky with her food and usually favors her safety choices. 

Who tops? Violet but only because Diego prefers it.

Violet usually watches what she eats because of ballet season and Diego finds her food to be unsatisfying. He bases his food more on meal preps because of his workouts and Violet hates how bland it is. Eventually, when their tempers settle, they agree for take out.

Most common argument? When Beatrice confronts him about whether or not he thinks she’s dumb because he has to reiterate things when she forgets to do them. 

Favorite non-sexual activity? Listening to Spencer read classics or walks in the park. 

Who is most likely to carry the other? Spencer because he wants to prove that he has been attempting to work out with Morgan, although it usually ends up with him breathless when they make it to the bedroom. To be fair, he tries this AFTER he works out or the day after. 

What is their favorite feature of their partner’s? Spencer loves how blue-gray Beatrice’s eyes are and Beatrice loves Spencers’s hair. 

What’s the first thing that changes when they realize they have feelings for the other? Both realize they can’t make eye contact with each other. Also, Spencer rattles on more and stutters here and there while Beatrice’s voice quivers.

Sean thinks it’s about time that Beatrice is spared a life of being a future cat lady. Beatrice’s Mom jokes that Spencer is too good for Beatrice. Who was the first to say I love you? In actuality, neither of them said it! They just expressed it one night ;D Afterwards, Beatrice is the one who says it more frequently. Spencer just prefers to express it very minimally in public.

Both are fidgety individuals. Spencer can’t stop playing with his hands while Beatrice tends to click her pen top excessively or tap it on the table. This used to drive Hotch insane when they were younger. 

Between the two brothers, Sean was the first to approve of Beatrice and Spencer. Hotch, no surprise, was a little more hesitant only because it involved his only sister and a valuable member on the team. He has no problem of dating within the team until it interferes with the case or judgment calls. 

On the very rare days that they are off, Beatrice tries to get Spencer away from staying inside to read. They eventually settle on spending some time at the park with a simple bike ride or walking around and enjoying nature. Believe it or not, Spencer is quite the photographer. 

Because Spencer is an avid coffee drinker, Beatrice finds herself ordering an extra cup on the way to work because Spencer tends to finish the first cup by the time she arrives. 

When Beatrice’s mother first meets Spencer, her first impression was: “He needs to sleep and eat more”. She tells Hotch to stop overworking him and to make sure his team is well fed on sustenance and not just coffee (all of this is just a joke). 

Sean gives Spencer a picture of Beatrice in her boarding school uniform at the first family dinner as a joke, hoping to embarrass his sister. However, it backfires because Spencer now keeps it inside one of the books he knows Beatrice will never open. 

Spencer is a lover of handmade gifts and because they live on the East coast, Beatrice finds herself making an extra pair of scarves and beanies

Hey Anonymous! Thanks so much for the ask :D Let’s see...I have been listening to this song called “Biege” by Yoke Lore for quite some time now and it’s really inspiring me to evolve Spencer and Beatrice’s relationship. The artist believes that the phrase “I love you” has been diluted through society and how it has lost its special meaning because of how overused it has become. In order to avoid the cliche method of telling an individual method of how much they mean to you, the artist decides to step outside the box and use their own words in the form of colors to portray their feelings. 

In Spencer and Beatrice’s case, the color will be lavender for a special reason. Lavender represents a sign of enchantment and love at first sight. It also represents wonder and impossibility, with a sense of the magical. While I don’t believe in love at first sight, I do believe in being captivated by someone at first glance because it’s normal to look at them for the first time and realize that they are very attractive. 

What also attributes to them is the day of the week. Spencer and Beatrice will meet on a Friday night and of course, you know which song I’m referencing ;D The song will play at the bar and of course, the color lavender will play a part.

Headcanons away! 

Spencer didn’t know Bea was into Star Wars until she corrected Hotch during a group hang out at the bar when he mistakenly calls the Ewoks teddy bears. In fact, Bea is a fan of many fandoms but hides it because she was bullied in boarding school. 

Both love Halloween and often do couples costumes. Their favorite so far is Slave Leia and Han Solo. Needless to say, dressing Bea as Slave Leia took a ton of convincing from Garcia to “spice things up”. Hotch was not pleased. 

Bea LOVES eating sushi and Spencer still refuses to eat with chopsticks. While he eats with a fork, he doesn’t mind Bea feeding him from time to time. 

Bea likes playing video games and gets Spencer to play for her whenever she gets stuck. “It’s a simple formula really. You see, designers tend to incorporate-” “Why do you even know this?” 

Garcia has challenged Bea to give Spencer a pet name for more “spicier talks”. “Hey stud” “Hi yourself my princess” “....”. Garcia and Morgan high five and give each other pats on the back. 

Spencer never fails to remind Bea that she has a beautiful smile and to promise him that she’ll never turn into Hotchner. 

Spencer is 6′1″ and Bea is 5″6 1/2″. She inherited her height from her mother’s side while her brothers got it from their father’s side.

What is the background of Beatrice since she will be Hotchner's sister? I've seen a lot of sibling OCs that follow the cliche of being inserted in the BAU just for the sake of witty dialogue and pairings. Hopefully Beatrice doesn't fall into that category.

Hi Anonymous! Thanks so much for asking! I’m sorry I got to this late D: 

Beatrice will be 25 in the beginning of the story. She got her Bachelor’s and Master’s from Penn State, graduating cum laude in both. She originally worked in the Seattle FBI office as a crime scene investigator and eventually transfers to the FBI Laboratory in Quantico at the recommendation of her unit chief. She joins a group that is occasionally assigned to BAU to aid in their investigations. I have an upcoming post that will showcase the group :) 

The funny thing is that no one other than Hotch knows she is his sister. She goes by her mother’s maiden name (Madden) because she wanted to distance herself from her family’s prestigious name, therefore being known as Beatrice Madden. I am planning for Sean’s appearance to be where the group finds out only because they look alike (They take after their mom while Hotch is more like their dad). 

I don’t think I will have Beatrice join the BAU. Her group will help assist the BAU but they will primarily be on the crime scene or in the laboratory. Maybe the occasional case but not frequent. I want to develop Beatrice and have her not be defined by her relationship with the BAU. 

I do plan several cases where Beatrice will a subject in investigations because they will be pivotal to not only her character but her eventual relationship with Spencer Reid.  

Speaking of which, they are both aware of their physical attraction but it’ll progress from there. Seeing as Spencer is not a genius in the romantic department, it’ll take a while and several people for them to finally admit something.

What inspired you to make your newest characters?

Hi Anonymous! :) Thanks for the ask! 

Cecilia Werner: Hyde was always my favorite character in That 70s Show and I loved the idea of having him meet his match. Someone he would never in a million years find himself falling for, similar to how he felt when Jackie first pursued him but someone a little more forbidden. So I wanted to push my boundaries and make it someone who was a follower of rules, and as an added bonus, someone who was religious. I have a friend who is a minister’s daughter and hearing about her lifestyle in comparison to most people her age made me think: “What would happen if a girl who lived her life under the strict watch of her father met a guy who he would never approve in a million years?” Thus, Cecilia was created :) 

Beatrice “Bea” Hotchner: Hotch is one of my favorite characters and seeing his nonexistent relationship with his family made me think: “How would he be if he had a sister?” We know that his father was abusive (an episode made mention of the livelihood of children from these households; either they grew up to be serial killers or the people who caught them), not much on his relationship with his mother and he is estranged from his brother Sean because of their decade age gap. I also didn’t want to follow the cliche route and have a sibling/random OC join the team to insert witty one-liners or act as a romantic interest for someone on the team. I wanted Beatrice to be her own person and not have a relationship define her usefulness/character, hence why I made her part of the laboratory division of the FBI. In my opinion, I believe they work closely with the BAU and give them the forensic evidence they need in order to make their profile and catch the unsubs. I paired her up with Spencer because I believe their dynamics would be very interesting to play out. Adding to that, they have a mutual interest in each other, but certain things/people play out reasons that prevent them from actually establishing things. They will move on to date other people but will eventually settle down and figure their attraction out. I’m excited for this :)
