OC in fifteen
Thanks for the tag @illarian-rambling! This'll be fun to do.
Rules: pick fifteen or less quotes that ideally capture the essence of a character. Add a little beat of action or context if required
For this, I'm going to use Maire Aitkin from Echoes of Shadows because that WIP needs more love, and she's my favourite character to write.
If A' couldnae see shite, 'twould still be brigh'er than this fecking tunnel.
Johan. A' thought ye knew tha' blood belongs inside of th'body?
Holy Bozhe, lord o' heav'n and ward'n o' the nine hells, what th'fuck is tha'!? (First time seeing a demon)
With ye lot 'tis always, "Oh Maire, A' done screwed it, aye? Be a dearie an' heal me up, would'ya?" Well what if A' need healin' an' A'm tae burnt out tae patch m'self up? Already lost an eye an' a leg tae tha', thankya kindly. If ye ain't already dyin' or a hinderance in your current state, wrap it up an' walk it off.
Well A'm so bloody sorry tha' ye blitherin' fecks bleed out faster than A' can plug th'holes.
Oh, so terrifyin', A'm a-quakin' in my wee boots! Oh wha'ever shall A' - have fun breathin', jackass (Said while collapsing a cultists lungs with magic)
People forget tha' us bioworkers are incredibly aware o' ev'ry wee movement people 'round us make. Ev'ry time Johan sees ye, his muscles relax, an' he feels more comfortable - in all fairness, he feels more comfortable 'round all o' us - but A' find it curious that his heartrate also picks up a wee bit only when it's you he sees. And e'en more curious that yours does th'exact same thing when ye see him.
Wow, right fascinatin' story, mate. Hey, A've heard tha' th'Green Rooves are wonderful this time o' year. (Said the first time she hears Johan and Anastasia discussing demons. 'Green Rooves' is Ost-Rietland slang for a mental institution)
Ha! Ye think this is cold? Go spend a month in Northern Rostov. Nae, e'en better, go spend a month in th'Angeheim wilderness. Then ye can talk 'bout the cold.
Always wanted tae go sightseein' in Genesh. A' probly wouldnae survive a day in th'desert but A' always wanted tae go. Maybe Neureich would be a good place tae visit, too, but wha's really over there anyways? Thirteen bombed out cities 'long th'coastal forest followed by Bozhe knows how many miles o' e'en more desert? Nae, thanks, A'll stick tae ma books.
Righ' then, hands up an' arses on the ground, this is a robbery! We're nae here tae rob any o' you's tho', so dinnae try bein' no hero 'till we have wha' we came for.
A' sometimes hate that A' can feel everything yer body does. A' can feel yer desire tae throttle me an' now A' have tae ask m'self wha' A' said that could've warranted it. Why d'ya force me tae introspect an' grow as a person? How dare ye? (Said with the express purpose of annoying the hell out of an already livid Hans)
Pffff-fucken, sacred hells, when last did anyone clean this place up a bit, 'tis rank! Hey ghosts! Open a window from time tae time, a wee breeze is good for th'soul. Or... souls, in this case.
Rostovan is such an easy language, though. Just get drunk, shove half a potato down yer throat an' make whatever noises come tae mind. Bob's yer uncle!
Shut it, or next time A' put ye back tae-gether, A'll leave an earing in yer colon.

It’s been a rollercoaster for former hunters Bridget and Alan. When vampires, missions, and Alan’s supposed death have become obstacles for their relationship and separated them numerous times, both have wondered if romance just hasn’t been on the cards for them. But now as settled vampires with children, both biological and adopted, maybe now they can finally start to open up about the feelings they’ve never lost for each other and accept that maybe, just maybe, it’s meant to be.

😉 ; Are there any ships for your muse that you enjoy, or ships that you would like to see happen?
If anyone wants to write Dimya with me, whether you’re an Anya or a Dmitry, I don’t care, just hurl yourself into my inbox with literally anything and I will c r y and love you forever. I mean it consider this your invitation. I already cry and love my other shipping partners (you know who you are loves
😳 ; What is something or someone you have always wanted to write with? i.e. a particular plot, a character, etc.
Look for the longest time I wanted to write Natalie and I couldn’t find a n y o n e in the N2N rpc, and then there was D and Callie and both of them are absolute super stars. Other than that tho ok so right off the bat I’m gonna list muses I’d l i k e to be able to use more: Jane Bennet, Tina Goldstein, Elaine of Astolat, and Howl Pendragon.
Following along that vein, I really wanna write with a Charles Bingley or a Sophie Hatter or anyone from Arthurian Legend/Fantasy/OCs/History that would plausibly interact w/ Elaine??? And like…not to contradict myself in the other answer above but if there are any Dmitry muns out there who want to let me write Anya I will Love You. I also appreciate any and all Newts and Queenies and Jacobs?????
And then, call me a trashcan, but I really want an Inception AU for any of my kids??? I haven’t thought this up Properly at all but ajfsl;dja;flsd but I am the AU queen young and sweet only 19. OH! I’d like to use Sonya in her Anastasia verse. Cause she has one, and I remember being Really Excited about it when I first made it? I’m a mess and don’t have a verses page up but if anyone’s interested hit me up in IMs and I’ll write it up for you.

OC interaction tag
Rules: take the OC description of the person who tagged you and provide a description of one of your own, then write how they would interact.
Katie's OC: Djek Kagura is a young man (19 in the first book, 23 in the second two) with a shifty appearance, red eyes, and a constant squint due to poor vision. He grew up on the streets after his parents tossed him out to cut down on mouths to feed, only to later join the brutal Tunnel Wasp smuggling gang, which he later split from due to his aversion to violence and need to do what's right. As a person, he's always quick with a joke or snide comment, loves sarcasm, and lies like a fish breathes water. His bad habit is that he loves to annoy people on purpose. At his core is a deep sense of self-loathing and abandonment issues, but he covers these with humor. He tends to try to find peaceful solutions to situations and has a bit of a bleeding heart, even if he pretends to be tough. His friends mean the world to him and he's loyal to the point getting himself hurt in fights he can't win. Also, he's surprisingly in touch with people's emotions and always trys to make them feel better, even he does it with a bad joke or by irritating them to action. He has a weak form of sorcery, specializes in shadow magic, and has incorrigibly sticky fingers.
My OC: Anastasia Retvenko is a young woman. Although people tend to think she's only in her mid teens for some reason, she's actually 22. She has light skin that has begun to tan and ash-blonde hair, and has an almost cat-like manner about her, with eyes that betray an intellect she tries quite hard to hide. She's an orphan from Rostov's satellite territory of Ulyensk, and never knew her parents. When she turned eleven, she was shipped off to a factory to make parts for war machines for little more than peanuts and water as payment, and after witnessing her best friend lose her arm to a misfiring machine and the callousness of their Rostovan overseers regarding the matter, she ran away and ended up fighting in an uprising. When the Rostovans responded to their little rebellion by gassing the entire city and killing everything within five miles of the city limits, she threw down her rifle and fled overseas, vowing to never touch a firearm of any kind again. Anastasia tends to not really speak that much, and that's often misconstrued as her being the stoic, quiet type. In reality, she's the exact opposite and just struggles with the common language, preferring to listen over trying to articulate/express herself. In her native Rostovan, though, she's been described as 'a fucking street preacher of running commentary' by her countrymen, and although it might take her a while to warm up to someone, if she starts trying to drive you up the walls with her jibes and jests, it means she sees you as a close friend. She also tries to hide her insecurity- both from appearing to be an ethnic Rostovan in a country that has as little love for them as she does and from being the only person on her team without magic- and trauma behind a smile, and puts on a willfully over-positive mask to make things seem more bearable. She values money and food because she knows what it's like to go without either, but she'd also put aside everything for her friends, and works tirelessly behind the scenes to help care for the one person she's ever seen fit to call her brother. She's also been known to punch way above her own weight class simply because she saw someone getting harassed (and most of her many, many scars are from situations like this)
How they'd interact: Anastasia's first reaction to Djek would be utter shock because she's never seen a non-human before, however I do think she has the discipline to not immediately throw a knife at him as a result. She'd watch him for a little while, then determine that he's friendly before approaching to satisfy her curiosity. His sarcasm and snideness might catch her off guard in the beginning, although I think overall she wouldn't really mind unless he found reason to call her a Rostovan (At which point he'd find his face slammed against the nearest wall and her gone, signalling an end to the conversation). She's quite prone to jokes herself, so the pair might manage to bond over that or simply become nuisance squared for everyone around them. They would likely also bond over having had to live on the street at some point in their lives. Djek's habit of befriending the toughest person around would likely extend to her if he ever learns what it was like to grow up in one of Rostov's colonies or if he ever got to watch her square up to a powerful mage as if her weak, vanilla human biology wasn't a mere stray thought away from being pulped. Djek might find her ability to seemingly vanish into thin air a bit unnerving, although whether he'd be terrified of her or just have his curiosity piqued if he were to learn that she has no magic to do what she does is something I can't say. By the end of their interaction, I wouldn't be surprised if she'd offered to get him something to eat simply because she'd gotten a craving for bunny-chow or spatlo and would've felt bad not buying him something as well.

OC Quote tag
My prompt: a quote about your childhood
Your prompt: a quote about something you'll never forget.
Gonna do this for the Echoes of Shadows team, and I'll lay off on Anastasia's broken speech for this so just pretend that she was speaking Rostovan for this quote, aight?
Also I dunno if Anna's one (the red paragraph) might trigger someone so just be warned: references to child labour, warcrimes, deprivation of a childhood, mutilation, and a horrible way to die. Dunno if it's necessarily bad enough to be trigger warning worthy or not but you have been warned regardless.
Johan: I grew up on a farm, so half my childhood was spent working my ass off around our land and the other half was spent waiting for winter to pass so we could start all over again. If I'm being honest though, I really miss the serenity of the Zuurveldt countryside. I miss how the fijnbos blooming makes the whole country seem like it's finally waking up. Hell, I even miss the heat if you can believe it.
Anastasia: When I was nine, I was conscripted to work in a factory that made tanks for the Rostovans. At twelve, I watched my best friend lose her arm to a faulty machine and went on to join a rebellion. At sixteen, I began hunting down Rostovan mages to give the revolution a fighting chance. At nineteen, I watched my home and everyone I had ever known die, suffocated beneath a cloud of mustard gas because we- a bunch of kids with guns and poisonous thoughts of heroism in our heads- had dared to stand against our oppressors. I ask you, what childhood did I have?
Hans: No comment. Never ask me that again, verstehen?
Sasha: Eh, my childhood was pretty boring actually. Turns out: growing up in a monastery doesn't afford a lot of opportunities to make friends. Rostov isn't that bad of a place to live either, although the longer I talk to Anna, the more I realise that I may have just been lucky enough to be raised in one of the inner crescent provinces.
Maire: Oh, dearie, ye dinnae understand! Th'lights! Th'jawdroppin' fjords! Th'festival o' daybreak when th'sun finally decides tae stop bein' a lazy arse once a year! Oh, my childhood? Um... Wha'ever d'ya mean by tha'? Next question, please...

The UCSC pack
A confused and tossed aside vampire, Jasper, claimed his own territory at the University of Santa Carla. Between the campus and an abandoned estate they all live on, his sired vampires include mother hen Bernice, unstoppable Bonnie and rebellious Bridget. Their family is expanded further by one of the Black Widow's vampire daughters, Cecilia, a mysterious ghoul named Anastasia and former hunter turned vampire, Alan Frog.
Jasper Rathbone
Face claim: Jackson Rathbone
Tumblr media
Since childhood, Jasper was expected to constantly maintain himself to the highest standards. Clean looking, handsome, and high grades went a long way in his family. He was always compared to his much older siblings, all who were admired by their peers and succeeded in attending only the most prestigious universities. No matter how hard he tried to please his parents, it was never as good as what his brothers and sisters accomplished. In school, he didn’t have friends, but rather admirers who followed him around like lost puppies, and friends of the family who were with him only because their parents were friends with his mother and father. Ana Rostov
Face claim: Rose McIver
Tumblr media
Anastasia (Ana for short) grew up in a problematic household. Her father was a serial cheater and her mother was addicted to alcohol and pain pills. Neither were able to provide their only child the proper care she needed, so as soon as she entered the school system, Ana became a problem for anyone who had to deal with her. Used to being ignored at home, she pushed away everyone and intimidated anyone who tried to help her. She turned into a bully whose nasty reputation made it so that not even the boys wanted to earn her wrath. Her antics led her to being kicked out of the public school system and placed in a continuation school. It was there that she first met Jasper. Though the other kids viewed him as creepy with his pale skin and self-harm scars on his arms that he refused to cover, Ana was instantly drawn to this boy that everyone else actively avoided. She and Jasper were paired together for an assignment, and it was during this that she opened up to him, and he returned the gestured.

Bernice Teahan
Face claim: Teresa Palmer
Tumblr media
Bernice Melissa Teahan was born on 5th January to Eleanor and Paul Teahan in Bristol, Maine.
Bernice was the sweetness to her younger sister’s sourness. Ambitious, organised and mature for her age, she was considered the gentle one out of the Teahan sisters and more interested in her academics and future with involvement in yearbook and student council. As planned, Bernice finished her last year of high school as student body president, editor of the yearbook, cheerleading captain and high enough grades to be accepted into Dartmouth College to study politics. She was best friends with her neighbour Bonnie who was in Bridget’s year at school and the only person to properly befriend her volatile sister.

Bonnie Casey
Face claim: Hayley Williams
Tumblr media
Bonnie Anne Casey was born February 12th in Santa Carla, California and when she was ten, she moved with her family from a sunny, quirky seaside town to dull, small-town Bristol, Maine. There she quickly befriended Bernice Teahan and her younger sister, Bridget, which made the move slightly bearable.
Bonnie grew up with a love of dancing, singing and drama. With dyslexic, she struggled in school and wasn’t very fond of studying and being academic but thrived in the dramatic arts. A natural talent for acting, singing and dancing, Bonnie treasured her abilities as a creative triple threat and went to dance class, drama groups and singing class. She was in the glee and drama club at school and as she neared graduation, it was time to decide if New York or California was her calling. Remembering her early childhood in Santa Carla and with frequent visits to her grandparents in the summer, Bonnie decided that she wanted to go back to her childhood home for college and settled on returning to Santa Carla, knowing she was more of a laid-back Californian girl than a cliché, serious New York drama student.

Bridget Teahan
Face claim: Phoebe Tonkin
Tumblr media
Bridget Louise Teahan was born August 7th to Eleanor and Paul Teahan in Bristol, Maine.
Growing up with her older sister, Bernice, Bridget was never naturally sociable and didn’t really care much for social interaction. Easily tempered and on the aggressive side, Bridget would find herself clashing a lot with other children that only continued into her teens. By high school, she was known to fight and annoyed her teachers by refusing to fully apply herself in academics even though she was smart enough to.
On a family holiday to Marina, California, her older sister went missing. Nowhere to be found, Bridget returned home with her parents and watched as police barely investigated before closing the case. Bernice was shelved as a cold case and Mr. and Mrs. Teahan lost faith in finding their eldest daughter. Bridget, however, was horrified to see the adults around her giving up and her behaviour only went down a further spiral. With more fights and suspensions building up, Bridget acted out whenever she could to punish her parents for giving up so quickly on finding Bernice.

Cecilia Johnson
Face claim: Zoey Deutch
Tumblr media
Born in the state of Texas in a rural town, Cecilia had a less than stellar childhood. Her father was a compulsive gambler and her mother was constantly spending her husband’s money on her many boyfriends, often leaving Cecilia to fend for herself. She didn’t have too many friends and she did poorly in school. She dropped out of school at sixteen and fell in with a rough crowd of alcoholics and drug users. Cecilia thought this was the life she wanted, with other youths who came from rough backgrounds. However, it didn’t take long for her to spiral out of control and nearly get herself killed. Wanting to make a fresh start for herself, Cecilia decided to pack up her clothes, take whatever money her father won from his gambling bouts and what her mother hadn’t spent on her boy toys, and left home. She traveled to the nearest Greyhound bus station and decided to take whatever bus was taking off the soonest. It didn’t matter where it went, so long as it took her far, far away from home.
In due time, Cecilia found herself being taken to Santa Carla, California. She was surprised to learn about how it was an epicenter for runaways and druggies… and not to mention mysterious vanishings and murders. Never the less, Cecilia knew this was where she wanted to be, and it was here she first met the Widow Johnson.
