Hello how are you,

I follow too many fandoms to count, from video games to books, manga, movies, and stuff in between to count them all. My newest series I've gotten into it Delicious in Dungeon, it's funny and well written, but I'm still new to that.

What Collector's Items Are To A Collector

A small ramble inspired by a good deal, I wanted to explain/explore my thoughts on what a collector's item ends up as to me, particularly in the context of manga. So, I'm a cheap bastard and will jump at a good deal. Earlier on in my collection I probably wouldn't have even thought about it, but these days I didn't give it much of a second thought. Thirteen volumes of manga for 30 bucks (Canadian)? Why wouldn't I grab that? Soon thereafter, the 13 volumes of Nurse Hitomi's Monster Infirmary arrive on my doorstep.

Is it good? .... I wouldn't say so. Was it worth the 30 dollars? Probably, yeah. It's outside of my usual strike zone for manga and it's a less popular and somewhat horny title from Seven Seas. There's not really room for regret when getting your hands on it in a year or two might be even more of a headache. Would I have been going out of my way in the next year to get it though? Definitely not. It's just a right place right time kind of thing.

Which is where the collector's item concept comes in. I don't like spending money on expensive things, what I "collect" has no foundation in monetary value. There's not a guarantee or feeling that the more rare/expensive something is, the more affinity I feel with it as something I've "collected", so to speak. What I've found through my adventure through manga is that I like collecting weird stuff. A 13 volume set of a monster girl manga that's neither here nor there? Sure! A bunch of one-note and so-so NGE spinoff series? As long as they're cheap I'm in! A bunch of expensive collectors edition light novels for 10 bucks for that anime I watched when I was super bored? Why not.

I think weird and unique things are what color a collection, and do a far greater job than picking what everyone else has. Berserk, Vinland Saga, Vagabond, 20th Century Boys. Undeniably good, but not my thing, and certainly not what I'd consider a collector's item to me. Damn expensive for a bunch of singles for something that's in print as omnibuses. Plus, everybody's after them, where's the fun in that? I love chasing those 1 of 1s, the things that few collections have and few collectors are really after. It doesn't mean I'll pick up trash off the street, but I'll explore and wander around to see what might pique my interest. Curiosity is far more engaging to me than finding yourself in the middle of an echo chamber of opinion

Nurse Hitomi’s Monster Infirmary: Chapter 62

Chapter 62 revolves around the students performing sports activities, and the final page shows Ueto fattened up from drinking a lot of water once again, with her belly bulging out from her shirt and thighs and rear filling out the shorts greatly. It’s stated that rather than go from the jump rope contest, her water-sloshing body would’ve been great for tug-of-war. Also Fujimi lets herself be inflated for a ball race, much smaller than her first inflated size, making her nice and rollable for her sports-mates, smiling through her chubby cheeks.

Monday Manga Mountain

Alright so not the greatest title/header, but I wanted to run with the triple M and this was the best I could do, okay? Anyways, had a few different things come in today. The first of the books from CNL's Manga Madness sale, a used set for dirt cheap, and some affordable overstock volumes, so I'll get to it.

So I grabbed this random helping of vols from BookOutlet, which ships within both Canada and the US which is pretty cool. Prices are about half off retail, but they are overstock books. This means they all have what's called a "Remainder Mark" on them, which is in the form of something like a sharpie marking a dot along either the top or the bottom of the pages. Along with this, it's not guaranteed they'll be in perfect condition (meaning that they might be slightly yellowed or have some marking here and there). That said, it's cheap, there's free shipping, and as long as you're a fan of Seven Seas (only manga pub they seem to have), it's got some good deals on stuff that might even end up hard to find elsewhere!

Next is 4/6 of the first order I have with the CNL thanks to their Manga Madness sale. It's missing Grand Blue 8&9 from it, but overall it was 20% off retail price and has free shipping anywhere in Canada which is pretty cool. Took full advantage of it to round out and complete some series that I've left hanging for a while. (I just wish they did bigger discounts sometimes haha).

Now I wouldn't say I'm a fan of Nurse Hitomi's Monster Infirmary, but when you have an entire set of Seven Seas manga offered to you for less than $2.50 a volume when it retails for six times more (14.99 to 15.99) than that. I guess more than a monster girl fan, I'm a fan of good deals (I say, when I've got 4 monster girl manga series in my collection, plus a spinoff anthology).

Regardless though, a pretty big haul to start the week with, and there's still more to come! March has certainly been living up to its moniker of Madness (especially if you're keeping up with the NCAA), so I'm really interested to see where I end up in April, and if I can keep the deals and cheap manga coming (and maybe make a dent in my backlog haha).
