a man self immolated in front of the israeli embassy in washington dc yesterday. not just any man. an active member of the us air force. he live streamed his death, and said that he refused to be complicit in a genocide any longer. he said that compared to what palestinians were facing every day, setting himself alight was nothing.

let me reiterate. an active duty air force member burned himself alive because he was so disgusted by what the us government was openly supporting. he live-streamed his own suicide, so the whole world could bear witness as a man in his military uniform set himself on fire to protest his government’s complicity in the horrors that we have all been forced to watch happen in real time. he became a new horror. footage of the immolation blurs him out the moment the fire catches, but you can hear him. it is over in seconds, really, but you can hear him screaming. he shouts “free palestine” until his body physically cannot make any sounds other than guttural screams of agony. and then he falls silent. a police officer arrives and points a gun at his still burning body, shouting at him to get down on the ground. and it is over.

his name was Aaron Bushnell. he was twenty five years old. and he isn’t here anymore because the political ruling class has decided that genocide is perfectly fine as long as it preserves imperialism. in the coming days, people will try to discredit him. to say that he was mentally unstable. they will try to bury his actions to save face and defend israel’s propaganda. do not let them. aaron knew what he was doing. he knew what he was doing when he put on his military uniform, set up his twitch stream, and made his final walk up to the embassy. he knew what would happen to him when he flicked that lighter. do not let them forget. aaron’s blood is on the hands of the political ruling class.

But sometimes I wish I could start over and make things a bit more general so I can just start posting thoughts here too :( hmm, I dunno what'd be best.

You mostly provide a rational perspective here but at the end you collapse into idealism on two counts:

- first is that Palestine did not decide the election. if every Green voter voted Democrat this time it would not change the result, the Greens only spoiled one election to my knowledge (Arizona's 6th district ftr), & even for all the people who stayed home compared to Biden last time it's hard to guarantee what would have made them come out but it probably wouldn't be Intifada Kamala, maybe it's not right but Gaza just isn't a daily concern for Americans outside of college campuses or Dearborn

- second is that the Democrats are not one guy, & he does not "toss the ball" every four years. the Democrats are a big tent party composed of competing factions & interests, who do genuinely try to win elections, though some components more than others. & though still capitalist & imperialist, America under Democrats & America under Republicans are materially different, in ways that aren't always reflected in the Democrats' shitty messaging, for example the Biden admin was centrist on immigration, but tried to position itself as to the right of Trump on immigration, Biden fasttracked LGBT civil protections & Kamala pointedly avoided talking about those issues, & that's just some of the stuff that came up, not counting things like infrastructure bills, expansion of social programs, price cuts on medications that the Democrats didn't mention on the trail for fear of seeming too based. who wins the election makes a serious difference in the real world, even if certain factions of the DNC are trying to convince people it doesn't.

i have a work trip that is basically a vacation coming up on Sunday and I’ve been looking forward to it for MONTHS and now my roommate just tested positive for Covid and if *I* test positive for Covid on Saturday then I’m not allowed to go

idk who needs to hear this, but on the internet it is incredibly rare to even come close to consuming something for the same amount of time it took to make that thing.

your average piece of art takes at least half an hour to make (most takes much, much more than that) but how long does it take you to scroll down to it, take it in, keep scrolling? you might take a minute at best. you see a three second gif that took hours to edit. you watch a twenty minute video that took several days to film. for a few hours, you read a fic that was in the works for a year. none of this accounts for money spent on materials needed to do any of this or the time it took the creator to learn the skills necessary for it.

obviously, none of that makes you a bad person. you can’t make yourself enjoy a painting for four hours straight and the artist probably doesn’t want you to. my point is that creators aren’t acting “entitled” when they ask those who enjoy their works to share it or leave comments. “they should be making things for the love of creating, not for validation on the internet” is not an argument, people love sharing things and making others happy and feeling like you’ve failed at that sucks. “people have the right not to reblog” sure, but creators also have the right not to share, a right anyone who’s been on this website more than a couple of years has seen freely exercised. believe it or not, most of the artists with dead blogs here didn’t just disappear from the internet, they just went to sites that treated their art like it was worth the time they spent making and posting it. there’s much less art here than there used to be, but congrats if you feel like you’ve won the “rights” argument.

i’m not trying to guilt trip anyone, do what you want, but maybe don’t get angry or call artists pushy and desperate for asking you to put in a fraction of the time they did to reblog, leave a like, whatever. im not sure why you’d think requests like that are unreasonable if you enjoyed the thing you consumed, but i guess that’s tumblr nowadays

im so annoyed,  i mean, xp-pen is wonderful and seems to be listening to what people want for tablets that Arent Wacom

but man, it stopped working suddenly just like my other tablets in the past that havent been wacom, stopped suddenly working for SAI. i did the thing i need to do to fix it, never works. never gets back to normal. even if i use another sai version or whatever, or if someone lets me use their sai  or something. it doesent get fixed. it was working so many times just fine as soon asi got it. then after like, some time i cant remember when it first started, it just doesnt work at all. so that kinda sucks! ;; other programs are also annoying to get used to bc it doesnt doenough effects and simplistic use that i need like sai does. i need to blend and all kinds of things. im irritated.
