Excerpt-
Qiao An was watching television and cracking open sunflower seeds when the text from his daughter scared him.
Cheng Xiaoshi is in the hospital, it read. Can you come?
The news program that he had been watching mindlessly dimmed to almost nothingness without him needing to touch the remote. Qiao An swiped his phone from the coffee table, scattering sunflower seed shells onto the floor along the way. He called Qiao Ling, who picked up too late for his taste.
“Lingling,” he said. “What’s going on?”
Qiao Ling’s voice was chalky with exhaustion.
“Baba,” she said. “Cheng Xiaoshi got shot.”
Qiao An put the words together and traced their meaning in a seamless line, and yet he could not comprehend them. He stood up from his seat and pressed his phone tight to his face.
“What do you mean?” he demanded. “Was there a fight?”
Even as he said it, he disbelieved it. Cheng Xiaoshi had the sort of mouth that could get him in trouble, but the sort of heart that would compel anyone to forgive him for it. If someone had shot him, it would be in cold blood. The thought made Qiao An’s chest spark with fury, like a cigarette lighter too close to the gas stove.
“Someone was trying to hurt us,” Qiao Ling said. She sounded like the little girl that her father always saw her as. “He tried to stop them.”
“Are you all right?” Qiao An demanded. “Is Xiaoshi—what are the doctors saying?”
“I’m okay now,” she said, without sounding it. “Cheng Xiaoshi is in surgery. He lost a lot of blood, and the bullet—I don’t know if—“
Qiao An had already gone into his bedroom to dig out a pair of trousers and coat to throw over his sleep shirt. His wife stirred in her sleep on the other side of the mosquito net, but she did not wake up. He filled a backpack with anything he could put his hands on that he thought could help–a cardigan, if either Cheng Xiaoshi or Qiao Ling were cold. Their toothbrushes, which Cheng Xiaoshi kept a spare in their bathroom whenever he was too lazy to go back home. A book from the living room that the kids used to read all the time–it had been collecting dust in the bottom shelf for years, but in the light of their mortality Qiao An could only remember how to care for little children.

a run down would be appreciated😭😭 and i sure hope coffee at midnight is a happy fic bc that one i did start reading and its my current obsession, i wont be able to take it if something bad happens to my babies
I won't spoil Coffee at Midnight, but I'm glad you're loving it!!
My other fics, though, I'm going to try and put into categories.
The Multichaps
A Fine Line will take you through every emotion. It's smutty and angsty and stressful but it has a happy ending!
illicit affairs is an ongoing multi-chap that's nowhere near finished. emily and aaron sleep together before her first day on the job, when neither knows who the other is. the affair they begin has consequences for years to come.
touchy subject is complete and is an emotional journey. a teenage emily aborted aaron's baby without telling him, and deals with the consequences of that decision in the decades that come after.
impact married Hotchniss are in a car accident that leaves emily in a coma.
the price we pay. I'll start by telling you that Emily's dead. that's not a spoiler, i literally tell you in the comments. this fic sees JJ try to come to terms with her death and her unresolved feelings for Emily at the same time.
Nodus Tollens is annoyingly incomplete. A complicated fic based on the Arizona-Callie-Mark triangle n Greys.
The One-Shots
The Five Stages of Grief are a Myth is a journey, but it does have a happy ending!
phantasmogoria - emily struggles with the trauma of having spent seven months in isolation, with only her own mind for company. hotch is her lifeline.
found family is a cute little fic i wrote for the 'accidental baby acquisition' tag for criminal minds week 2023. the team find a baby.
built a home and watched it burn may or may not stay an angsty one-shot. it's the first chapter of an unfinished fic i took down a while ago, in which emily and aaron are getting divorced.
Eulogy is an angsty af one-shot of JJ and Hotch telling Emily about the Paris plan.
You'll Always Be My Person is angsty Jemily fluff that I woudn't say has a happy ending, but it's sweet and short.
Habits is a cute little Jemily drabble.
in love with you is Emily POV Jemily angst.
twelve things that didn't break aaron hotchner and the one that almost did is Hotch angst with a happy Hotchniss ending.
The States Game is a cutie team fic based on That Friends Episode.
The Smutty One-Shots
Heat is the only 'only one bed' fic i've ever written. it's just pure, unadulterated, shameless, steamy Hotchniss smut.
every lover's game is what happens after you send the girl you fancy in to flirt with a creepy guy called Viper. it's pure filth. it's great. probably my favourite filth i've written. you're welcome.
trying to remember how it feels to have a heartbeat is angsty Hotchniss smut. like I earned the angsty smut tag on this one.
when it rains, it pours - more angsty Hotchniss smut. back from Paris, emily is struggling. then comes a storm.
Coming Home is wholesome Jemily smut.
Stress Relief and Debriefing are just pure Emily/Luke smut.
Hotchner's Future Au (in chronological order)
technically these all have a happy ending because emily and hotch are married and trying to cope with parenting x
nature vs nurture after having her first child, emily struggles with her mother's first visit and her criticisms.
a good cat never goes far - proceed with caution if you love Sergio. that's all i'll say. but also read it because i'm proud of it <3
the last first day - emily struggles with her last baby starting school
good intentions, bad excecution - livvy hotchner is a menace, but she's also a great big sister.
red-handed the kids catch emily and aaron in a...compromising position. based on a request to write a hotchners future au fic inspired by the modern family episode 'caught in the act'
my mama's in the kitchen worrying about me - emily struggles with having a teenage daughter who's exactly like her.
Good Crazy - jack announces that he and his girlfriend are expecting. emily and aaron temporarily lose their minds, but what's new?

Wherever You Will Go (post AoS Dousy Fic)
Fandom: Agents of Shield Pairing: Daisy x Daniel Rating: Teen and up Word Count: 1,717
Summary:
What kind of present time is the team returning to after their hard fought battle against the Chronicoms? Will Daisy get her happy ending? If Daniel has anything to say about it, he'll always find his way back to her. Is there someone out there who can bring him back to her?
(entirely inspired by the song "Wherever You Will Go," by The Calling.
A/N:
Whooo boy yall. I heard this song the other day and was just struck with inspiration for Dousy.
It's also my attempt at an endgame fix-it fic of sorts regarding plotholes and the lack of Phil Coulson and Daisy Johnson in the MCU, and aos/endgame fusion if you will.
This is a multi-chap with it all plotted out, and several chapters drafted. Non-beta-ed, we die as men.
I hope you'll join me for the ride!
Ao3 Link
Chapter 1:
For a moment, silence rings throughout the Zephyr.
Daisy slumps against the wall, exhausted. The adrenaline from the final fight against Malick and the Chronicoms is starting to dissipate.
“The Zephyr is stable. Anyone still standing, make your way to the bridge for a headcount,” Mack’s voice booms through the stillness.
Somehow she finds the strength to make it through the corridors, the desire to see her team and make sure Daniel is safe, the only thing keeping her going. Finally, she turns the last corner and sees Coulson first.
He turns in time to see her as she half hugs, half collapses in his arms.
“Whoa, whoa, I got you.”
“Did we win?”
“Yea, we won. You can rest now,” he says leading her to one of the bench seats.
Then she’s pushing against him, fighting against his hold.
“No, where’s Sousa? Did he make it?”
“I’m right here,” he affirms from behind her.
Daisy feels a wave of relief at hearing his voice. She turns and finds him looking at her with a similar look of relief.
Without thinking about the consequences or who is watching, they step toward each other, and Daisy immediately pulls him down for a kiss. He wraps his arms around her without thinking, supporting as much of her weight as he can. The kiss is life affirming and celebratory, but there’s a desperation underneath, both of them scared that the fight’s not really over, that any minute now one of them will disappear.
“Ay Dios Mio,” Yo-yo grumbles as she passes them.
They pull apart, faint blushes covering their cheeks. It only lasts a minute before Daisy’s putting nearly all of her weight on Daniel. In an instant, he lifts her into his arms and carries her over to the seats. He carefully sits down with her, and her head immediately finds his chest.
“I told you so,” Mack rubs in Yo-yo’s face.
One by one, the rest of the team filters in. Injuries are assessed and hugs are shared.
Coulson and Mack quietly discuss their next steps.
“Everyone needs a break, and a really good night of sleep,” Mack suggests.
“Agreed. Fortunately for us, we have all the time we need here in the temporal zone. Let them rest, eat. We can regroup in 12 hours,” Coulson tells him.
Mack gives the order to everyone, and the team scatters.
***
Daniel carefully settles Daisy onto the bed of her bunk. Methodically, he takes off her boots, and then her gauntlets. He gently sits next to her on the bed, and softly moves hair out of her bruised face. Even with the dark purple spots and cuts, she’s the most beautiful thing he’s ever seen.
“Heyya, Danny-boy,” she says sleepily with a half smile.
He laughs out loud and brings her hand to his lips, kissing it softly.
“Back atcha, Quake.”
She turns her head into her pillow and groans in embarrassment. She’s never going to forgive Mack.
“You need to get some rest,” he prods.
“You know, I’d normally fight you on that, but I kind of feel like I was hit by a truck.”
“You never have to pretend you’re okay with me,” he tells her earnestly, rubbing his hands up and down her arm soothingly.
“Then can I ask you to stay? I don’t want to be alone.”
“Thank God. I don’t want to leave your side,” he answers, already sliding his shoes off and propping himself up against the headboard beside her.
“You should lay down and get some sleep too,” she insists.
“I will. I just want to watch over you for a little while.”
Daisy blushes, but curls herself around him and lays her head on his lap. He automatically starts running his fingers through her hair.
“I thought you would have had enough of that by now,” she mumbles.
“Never enough,” he says softly. “Now get some sleep.”
His gentle touch and comforting embrace lulls her to sleep within minutes.
***
Daisy wakes to the smell of eggs and bacon wafting through the Zephyr. She also can’t help but notice a warm body wrapped around her. Her suspicions are confirmed when she opens her eyes and all she can see is the blue of Daniel’s shirt. That damn shirt.
Her head is tucked under his chin, and her arms are curled up between them. She’s using one of his arms as a pillow, while his other one is holding her close. She recognizes the intimacy of the moment, how they somehow jumped a million steps, but it feels right.
“Good morning,” she hears his deep voice mumble against her hair.
“Possibly the best one since 1931.”
She nuzzles further into him, and wraps an arm around his waist, pulling him closer.
“Definitely the best,” he confirms.
“As much as I would like to stay here and fall right back to sleep, I’m starving, and I can smell Coulson cooking breakfast.”
“Oh no, I better get out of your way before you quake me,” he mocks.
“The square has jokes, huh?”
“A few.”
He’s blushing when he leans over to kiss her softly. Her hand finds a home in his hair, and she kisses him back. His hand starts gliding up and down her spine, and without thinking, she gives more over to the kiss. She nibbles his lip, and he moans, causing her to stop, but he follows her quickly with his tongue, surprising her. From there, it’s a blur, both of them becoming heated. His fingertips are just grazing her stomach under her tank top when a loud knocking interrupts them.
“Daisy...Coulson has food ready. C’mon before it gets cold,” Jemma informs her from behind the door. She’s quiet for a moment before continuing. “And bring Sousa with you.”
Both of them are catching their breaths as they stare at each other, not flushed with embarrassment, but longing.
“That wasn’t funny,” Daisy says staring up at him with emotion.
“No. It wasn’t funny at all,” he replies, voice thick with the same emotion. He caresses her cheek softly. “Let’s get you some food.”
Daisy agrees and lets him pull her out of bed. They decide to part ways to freshen up and change clothes before facing the new day.
***
Everyone is gathered around the common area near the small kitchen galley. Daisy can hear the laughter as she comes down the hall from her bunk. It looks like she’s the last to arrive as she spots Daniel sitting at the table. On the opposite side, she catches the tail end of Mack’s story that has them all giggling.
“And then she did a full on superhero landing, right in front of hundreds of people, live on t.v.”
“She totally outed herself as Quake,” Jemma says, leaning over to show Daniel a picture on her phone.
He’s laughing along with everyone else when she clears her throat and makes her presence known.
“I see how it’s gonna be. Should I bring up the Jasper Sitwell incident?” she threatens while leaning against the cabinets.
Jemma jerks her phone away. “Oh, don’t be a spoil sport.”
“If it makes you feel any better, Tremors, we started off by telling him about how you saved our lives that day.”
Daisy grumbles as she starts to pour some coffee. “So what other dirty laundry have you aired, Mack Hammer?”
“Well, I have seen the,” Daniel pauses and looks to Jemma, “what did you call it? The goth phase?”
“Jemma!” Daisy shrieks.
“I’m sorry! We got carried away telling stories.”
“I think my favorite hair is the purple streak,” Daniel adds.
Daisy just face-palms.
“Okay, okay. Sousa, I’ve been dying to ask you for some SSR stories,” Coulson intervenes.
Daniel dives into a hilarious anecdote about Howard Stark and one of his inventions. As Daisy prepares her plate and sits down next to Daniel, she soaks in the peacefulness. From there, the conversation flows from one war story to another, some hilarious, some sad.
Long after their plates are emptied, they’re still going at it.
“Wait a minute, wait a minute...Thor’s real?” Daniel asks, shocked.
All of the girls nod and sigh, and Jemma pipes up, “I think I’ve got a picture!”
Jemma immediately pulls up a photo to show Daniel.
“You sure did find that awfully fast,” Fitz grumbles.
Daniel looks and his eyebrows raise. “That's...impressive.”
Daisy nearly chokes on her cold coffee, Daniel’s word choice reminding her of their conversation in the time loop. Yo-yo and May try to lean over and catch a glimpse too.
“Oh, jeez. C’mon guys. He’s not that dreamy,” Coulson whines.
“As much as I would love this particular conversation to continue, we do have some difficult things to talk about, like when we’re going home?” Jemma suggests as she puts her phone away. Everyone chimes in as they all start discussing problems back home.
“Hold on, hold on,” Coulson butts in. “Maybe we shouldn’t rush. You all deserve to have a break, and we have plenty of food. We all need to heal. We don’t know what we’ll be going home to.”
“I suppose it wouldn’t hurt. We really have all the time in the world here,” Fitz responds.
The conversation drifts from there, everyone sharing the various things they’re looking forward to doing when they get home. Discreetly, Daniel takes Daisy's hand under the table.
Not discreetly enough that May and Coulson both don’t notice. Coulson leans into May as they continue to watch their friends, family really, talk about happier things.
“He’s good for her,” he says with a hint of remorse.
“He is. I can feel his affection for her. It’s genuine,” May observes.
Coulson goes silent as he watches on.
“It’s more than you just wanting the team to have a break, isn’t it, Phil. What aren’t you saying?” May asks looking at him stoically.
Coulson sighs and rubs his hand down his face.
“You know how I had to go into the time stream to destroy it...well I saw a lot of future timelines. They all had one thing in common,” he says before pausing and looking at Sousa grinning from ear to ear at Daisy.
Daniel Sousa has to go back to 1955, or else he’ll cease to exist.”

이 태민: The Moonwalker Pt. 3
Part 3 has arrived, though it was terribly late! I’m fairly certain that this will be the last part, unless people request otherwise. Thanks for showing this little fic a lot of love! It feels really nice whenever I log into Tumblr and there’s a new like or something. ^^ Remember! If there’s anything you want to see from me, I always have inspiration for writing and I’m always willing to take requests.
If you’re a little shy or nervous; literally don’t be. I’m multi-fandom trash, so I’ll write for pretty much every group and in pretty much every genera, style or whatever the heck you’re into. XD Enjoy!
Tumblr media
“So, how many dates is this?” Taemin asked, sipping his espresso with a content smile, almost a little smug.
Je Kyo rolled her eyes. “Zero. A full zero dates.”
“You’re so mean!” he whined, setting down his glass. “We’ve been hanging out like this for months!”
She shrugged. “Yup. We’ve been getting up at unholy hours to hang out just because you’re afraid of the dark.”
“I’m not afraid of the dark! I told you: it’s a condition. Like, a serious one. You wouldn’t want to see me like that.”
She gave him a look. “Sure thing, dude. Whatever you say.”
He huffed, “You’re so difficult. But back to my original point! These are clearly dates!”
She shoved him playfully across the table. “In your dreams, pretty boy!” She settled back into her chair, a comfortable booth seat in a cozy cafe. She looked out of the window, admiring how the city looked with the sun barely up. “It’s pretty, yeah?”
He nodded. “Yeah, I am pretty nice.” She shot him a glare, making him laugh. “I’m kidding! Of course, I’m kidding!” He took a deep breath, composing himself. “Yes, it’s a very pretty view.”
She smirked. Now was her chance! After all the teasing from the strange man that had walked into her flower shop a few months ago, she could finally get back at him. “Not as pretty as you,” she said, flashing him a winning smile. She topped it off with a wink.
He froze for a moment. There were no witty comments, no rolling of the eyes, no awkward chuckles. Just him, sitting across from her, his cheeks dusted pink and his eyes wide.
Je Kyo snorted, narrowly avoiding hitting her latte when she collapsed in laughter. “Your face!” she laughed. She didn’t even care about people staring at her at this point. She was having too much fun. “That was priceless!” She pulled out her phone, snapping a quick picture.
He pouted for a full minute before he finally spoke again. A smile made its way onto his full lips. “I win,” he said.
“What?” she asked, sliding her phone back into her coat pocket.
He looked proud of himself. “I win!” he repeated. “This proves your undying love for me! You even took a picture of me, which, let’s be honest, you’re gonna be using as your lock-screen for a long time.”
She dipped her fingers in a glass of ice water, flicking the leftover droplets at him. “You ever heard of ‘teasing’ or ‘joking’, you dork? That’s what that was—not a love confession! I swear, you’re so socially ignorant sometimes.”
A few drops fell from his chin. “Sure,” he chuckled. He grabbed a napkin, wiping his face. “Believe me, you’ll fall for me one day—Je Kyo? Are you okay?”
She quickly shook her head, trying to draw herself out of her own all-consuming thoughts. “Yeah, I’m good,” she said quickly. “Just staring at something.”
That, in itself, wasn’t a lie. She just hadn’t told him what it had been.
She must’ve been seeing things, right? Things like that didn’t happen to normal people. A certain ethereal glow to the eyes, a glitter like sparkles or moon-dust.
Though...
She’d thought for months now that Lee Taemin was far less than normal.
.
.
.
.
The memory played in her head over and over again, like a song on repeat. So that’s when she’d fallen for him, huh?
It wasn’t often that there were times like this in her life. Quiet moments that she could enjoy all to herself and roll her eyes at the cliche feeling of the whole thing. She always felt a sense of irony when she had a moment of peace, considering how rare it was.
Though, her peace was different from most people’s. What’s new?
When people think of calm, they think of sunsets and ocean waves, mountain tops and whispered ‘I love you’s, raindrops on windowpanes.
For her, ‘calm’ was a glass of tea, bought on sale at the convenience store. It was late nights, warm days with cold breezes, and her son fast asleep in their home, unaware of how cruel the world could be.
She wanted to keep him safe from that as long as possible, or at least give him hope that things got better. But how could she do that when she barely believed it herself?
Je Kyo stirred a spoonful of honey into her mug. The twilight looked rather lovely shining in through the slightly cracked window at the back of her apartment.
Despite how pretty the scene was, Je Kyo had come to dread twilight for one reason and one reason only. She took a deep breath, trying to calm her beating heart and racing thoughts. She just wished her anxious feelings would go away.
But somehow, even though there were butterflies of unfounded nervousness in her stomach, she’d never felt calmer. In a way, she felt accepting of the strange feeling.
She glanced back at Dongin, sleeping soundly on the rock-hard, dreadfully uncomfortable couch they called their own. A small smile graced her chapped lips.
“You goof,” she mumbled even though he couldn’t hear her, lost too deep in the land of dreams. She walked over to him, wiping the corner of his mouth with her sleeve. “Drooling all over the place... Nasty,” she chuckled.
There was a knock on the door, gentle and held with an easy rhythm. She opened the door without checking through the peep-hole; she really didn’t need to. “Tea’s in the kitchen,” she said.
“Not even a ‘hello’?” Ah-In chuckled.
Je Kyo shut the door behind her, careful to be quiet with it. “Sorry,” she said. “I just really want to get this off my chest. Preferably as fast as possible.”
Her neighbor nodded, ever-understanding. “All right, then.” They both ended up settling down on the fire escape, not wanted to wake up Dongin. “So, what’s up?”
Je Kyo took another glance at the sky, her headache worsening. She let out a heavy sigh. There was no backing out of it now, was there? “Have you noticed me acting a little strange these past few months?”
Ah-In nodded slowly. “If I’m being honest... Yes. You haven’t really been yourself, though I can tell you’ve been trying to mask it.”
She let out a bitter chuckle. “Guess it didn’t work all that well then,” she joked. She shrugged, taking a quick sip of her drink. “Well, what can I say? I tried.”
“Did you bring me here just to tell me that?”
Any trace of a smile left her face, but even then, she didn’t look sad. She didn’t look distressed, she didn’t look angry—she just looked numb. She didn’t meet her eyes, staring off into the distance, her eyes scanning over the cityscape. “Innie,” she started quietly, “I think I’m going insane.”
A breeze rushed by them, blowing their hair and buffeting their thin cardigans. Ah-In’s hoop-earrings acted as a sort of wind-chime. Je Kyo almost chuckled at the added atmosphere. What a movie-like scene, she thought.
Ah-In stared at her. “What?” It was more of a gasp than a question. Not even a gasp, just a breath, lost in the wind like a wisp of lost time or memory.
Je Kyo took another sip. “Insane,” she hummed. “You know? Crazy, mad, deranged, demented, unhinged, lunatic—you get it. I’m just not in it anymore.”
“In what?”
She thought for a moment. “Life, I guess,” she finally settled on. “For the past few months, I’ve been hearing voices and even though they freaked me out at first, now I’ve gotten used to them.” She chucked, tugging mindlessly at a strand of hair. “That’s not really normal, huh?”
She dripped a finger in her tea, stirring the liquid slowly. The subtle warmth felt nice against her skin. “The voices have gotten more and more... Enticing, you know? Like they’re calling me towards them, and honestly, I barely have the strength to tell them ‘no’ anymore.”
She looked over to her friend, a sad smile on her face. “You know, if it wasn’t for you and Dongin, I would just kill myself.” She could feel herself tearing up a little bit. She scoffed at herself, smacking her cheek a little. “Well, isn’t that rich? Throwing myself a little pity party over here.”
The whole time, Ah-In had been gazing at her with thick emotion swimming in her eyes. Je Kyo expected pity or concern, but instead, she looked proud. After the initial shock, at least. “You’re not throwing yourself a pity party,” she said. “You’re finally spilling your feelings, and that’s a blessing.”
“It’s a blessing for me to be totally screwed?”
Ah-In shrugged, a smile creeping up her cheeks. “Maybe you’re screwed, maybe you’re not—but either way, you’re not dead yet, are you?” Je Kyo stared at her. “You’re obviously holding onto something, or you would’ve jumped off this building a long time ago. I saw you almost do it when you were younger.”
Je Kyo flinched at the memory. “Not exactly something I look back on fondly...”
“But do you remember how you snapped out of it?”
She brought the mug to her lips. “I kinda blocked it out of my life completely, so no. Please, enlighten me, though.” She started chugging the rest of the drink.
“You found out you were pregnant.”
She paused, pulling away slowly. “That was the day I got the results back, wasn’t it?”
Ah-In nodded. “Exactly.” She wrapped an arm around Je Kyo’s shoulders, rubbing her arm soothingly. “Which confirms my theory. I already knew this, but you care about other people so much more than yourself.”
She scoffed. “Who do you think you’re talking about? Since when have I—?”
“Forever,” Ah-In said firmly. “I’ve never seen you be selfish.”
She shifted a little. “Oh, shush... Flatterer.”
“But despite that, I think it’s time you be a little selfish.” Je Kyo furrowed her brows at her, a question in her eyes. “I think the voices will go away if you do what’s best for you, for once. Not for Dongin, not for me, not for the future. Just for you, in this moment.
This beautiful present that you never get to spend enough time in.” She turned to look at the setting sun. “Because... Despite how shitty people can be, ‘right now’ is actually pretty beautiful.”
Je Kyo snorted.
“Why are you laughing?” Ah-In whined.
She covered her mouth, trying not to draw any attention from the people walking down below. “Y-you swore!” she said through muffled giggles.
She crossed her arms. “You think I don’t swear?”
“Not what I said.” There was a pause. “But totally what I was thinking.”
Ah-In gave her a light shove. “Je! I’m trying to help!”
She grabbed her friend’s hand. “I know.” She gave it a quick peck. “And I thank you.” She stood up, crawling back into the apartment through the window. “Can you watch Gin for a little while?”
“What?” Ah-In leaned her head in, watching Je Kyo toss on her shoes and a jacket. “Why? Where are you going?”
She opened the door, giving her friend and son one more look before stepping out. “To be selfish.”
.
.
Je Kyo sat at the bus-stop, kicking her feet back and forth childishly. The city was dark and quiet, it felt like she was the only one there. It was eerie, in a way.
The moon was full and bright in the sky, giving minimal light to the dark streets. It was moments like these that made Je Kyo wish that the neighborhood council weren’t so lazy with their plans for streetlights. Yet... She wasn’t afraid.
She was prepared for anything that was to come.
“Why’d you ask to meet here?” A familiar voice came. It was gentle and smooth and completely unmistakable. It was one she had, unintentionally, become quite attached to. “I told you that nighttime was a bit of a no-no for me.”
She turned around. There was Lee Taemin, standing there with his hood up, hands in his pockets and full-length pants on. That basically confirmed her theory. “I asked you to meet with me because I figured it out.”
He quirked an eyebrow. “Figured what out?”
“You.” She stood up, walking closer to him. “I figured you out.”
He backed up a few steps. “What’re you—?”
She tugged his hood off and pushed him into a patch of moonlight. Her breath almost got taken away. “I knew it,” she whispered. “You’re a moonwalker, aren’t you?” It was more of a statement than a question.
In the moonlight, Lee Taemin barely looked human anymore. His eyes shone with a sort of glowing opalescence, he looked almost transparent and his hair dripped with light, literally dripping onto his shoulders and leaving a trail in its wake.
He was shocked at first, but his face quickly relaxed. “So you figured it out, huh?”
She nodded. “Yeah.” She took in a shaky breath, putting her hands in her pockets. “I noticed.”
“You don’t seem shocked.”
She shrugged. “I’m more shaken than I seem, I promise.” She breath came out in thick plumes in front of her. Why did tonight have to be so cold? It didn’t help make her any braver. “I just can’t believe a moonwalker’s really here. Like, that they really exist.”
He shuffled. “Are you disappointed?”
She thought for a moment. “A little, yeah.” He looked at her, eyes wide. “I’ve been lying to you. Not for long. Only for about a month.”
“...About what?” he asked.
She sighed. “I’m seriously in love with you. But now, I’m just disappointed because I’m realizing that none of it was real. You’re just trying to take me away from my son.”
He shook his head. “No! That’s not what I—!”
“You only got close to me so you could feed on my loneliness, put voices in my head and eventually steal me away... You’ve been lying to me way longer than I have to you.” She hadn’t even noticed her tears that were dripping against the cracking pavement.
She was more emotional about this than she’d expected.
He took a step forward. “Je Kyo, I—”
She cut him off, “I’m just sad because my on-going theory about humanity is being proven correct once again.” She laughed bitterly. “People suck. Big time.” She sniffled and wiped her eyes. “Well, guess what?” She met his eyes, determination burning in her own. “I’m not going to let you take me away.”
He sighed. He took a few more ginger steps forward. “I’m not... Going to take you away. Where did you hear that rubbish?”
She took a step back for every step he took forward. “All the stories!” she snapped. “There’s never been a good story about you people! It’s all freakin’ gloom and doom!”
He kept advancing on her. “Didn’t anyone ever tell you not to believe everything you read?”
She balled her fists. “My parents didn’t stick around long enough to teach me that particular lesson, no.”
“I’m not going to take you away from Dongin. From your life.”
There was an anxiousness growing in her stomach that only grew when her back bumped against a wall. They were inches apart. Not even inches. Mere centimeters. The strength left her. She couldn’t feel angry anymore. Just there. “...Then what’re you going to do?”
His hand trailed slowly up her arm, giving her goosebumps and leaving his glow in a path leading upwards, the shape of his slender fingers. “Make you less lonely. That’s what it says in the stories, right? Do those damn stories ever specify how?”
She felt stiff. She wanted to run, but she couldn’t tear her eyes away from him. Maybe she didn’t even want to. “No, I supposed they don’t,” she muttered.
“We do it by giving you lonely humans what you’re lacking.” He paused. “Love.”
She frowned. “But it’s not real. If it’s not real, I don’t want it.”
He shook his head. His eyes looked somewhat pleading. “No, no, no—it’s so real, I promise! For most moonwalkers, yes, it’s done for the purpose of their existence, but you and me... We’re something special.”
She looked away from him. “How am I supposed to trust you? Believe that this isn’t just because of your flippin’ otherworldly purpose?”
He thought in silence for a moment. “Because this is how I feel right now.” He brought his hand to her cheek.
She flinched, but immediately relaxed against his palm. She didn’t know what she was expecting, really. She had thought that the glowing essence he possessed would feel somewhat cold, like the moon looked. “It’s very... Warm,” she said quietly.
He nodded, trying to smile a little. “Very warm. Because I’m nervous.”
She met his piercing gaze. “Nervous?” she echoed. “Why?”
“Because of you,” he chuckled. “I feel like a child around you... I get so fluttery and all over the place, all I can do is tease you some days. All because I don’t know how to deal with myself.” He rolled his eyes at himself. “Some divine being I am.”
He examined her face. So close to his. So tempting. “You know...” he whispered. “I’m sure if I kissed you right now, my knees would buckle.”
Her cheeks felt hot. She didn’t know if it was because of his hand against her cheek or something else, but all she could do was shake her head. “Don’t lie to me, please.”
“I’m not,” he said. He sounded so sincere. “When I first came into your flower shop, I was just there because of my instincts—because of what my ‘programming’, for lack of a better word, told me to do. But soon, when you took me to all those cafes and fast food places and thrift shops, I started missing your laugh when I wasn’t next to you. Your witty quips, your casual and hardworking nature, your dedication, and your smile.”
She shifted her weight. “That’s... Specific.”
He found himself leaning closer. “Do I need to list more? I have thousands.”
“No, that’s... That’s quite enough.”
His lips brushed against hers, making both of them shiver. “May I?” His voice was barely above a whisper. “The anticipation is killing me.”
With this one answer, she could make the decision for herself whether or not to be lonely anymore. She could have it all, if she wanted. Her son, her friend, her crappy job, her chill twilight hours and the guy that she’d fallen head-over-heels for.
Would that be too selfish?
Well... She came out here this cold autumn night to be selfish. Might as well go all the way. If it ended up breaking down eventually, that was fine. Even the brightest thing in the world, like the sun, sets at some point.
With a deep breath, releasing all the fears and tension and hatred she’d been holding onto for years, she whispered, “Hell, yeah.”

25 Days of Westallen Fanfiction: Day 19 - A Day in the Life
A/N: I changed the title so it wouldn’t be repetitive with the synopsis. It also allows this to be a multi-chap potentially in the future of different scenarios of WA being cute parents in love. Enjoy this installment for now.
Dedication: @tooold-toship - a little late since her birthday was on Christmas Eve, but here you go, hun! Enjoy!
(*Many thanks to @jade4813 who let me borrow the bit about Don and Nora getting their speed gradually as children instead of immediately when they were born as inspiration for my fic - I thought it was so genius when I saw it incorporated in the fic she wrote for me that I decided to write a variation of that in my own gift for someone else.)
*Big thank you to @valeriemperez for beta’ing.

Synopsis: Barry and Iris help prepare their five-year-old twins for their Christmas Dance recital.
...
It was Saturday.
Iris knew this instinctively, even in that place between sleeping and waking.
Her alarm had not gone off. She was aware of the warmth of the comforter surrounding her, and the quiet pitter-patter of rain drops on her bedroom window was easily lulling her towards the sleep end of the spectrum.
At a time like this, few things could successfully knock her out like cuddling up to her husband and feeling his arms wrapped around her. She reached across the bed for him, eager to take the last step into unconscious bliss, but instead her hand came into contact with bare sheets. They weren’t particularly warm either. The sudden bang coming from downstairs in addition to some shushing made her eyes flash open and her body snap up to a sitting position. But the following whispered words that somehow rose to their bedroom informed her there was no cause for alarm.
“Shh, Mommy’s still sleeping.”
Oh, that’s right. She was a mother of two, and today was their Christmas recital.
Reluctantly, she tossed the comforter and sheets aside and slipped into some fuzzy slippers. Then she pulled on her robe, tied it into a double knot and proceeded to descend down the staircase.
“Okay, one more time, guys, then Daddy will make breakfast. A one, a two, a one-two-three-four-”
Iris watched as Barry at first initiated and then silently backed away to leave their twins doing an impressive dance number in a neat line in front of the dining table.
Iris couldn’t help herself. She clapped enthusiastically from the bottom of the staircase after they’d finished.
“Mommy!” The twins both gasped, looking straight at her, horrified and then sheepishly away. “Daddy, we’re-”
“Oh, don’t worry about it, kids,” Barry said, coming up from behind them and tousling their hair affectionately. “I’m sure it was your mom missing me in bed that woke her up and not  Donny losing his footing and accidentally pushing the couch over, knocking the table down and sending the lamp crashing to the floor,” he said, but it was all in amusement and not scolding, even if Don blushed fiercely at the reminder. “Right, honey?” He winked.
But Iris’ planned playful response vanished from her mind at the mention of ‘crashing to the floor’. Her eyes immediately sought out the evidence of said crash. There were some scrapes on the floor from the couch moving and the table toppling over, but just about everything else looked to be okay. The lamp was set against the far wall though. Iris pointed at it and looked at Barry.
“The bulb shattered,” Barry explained. “We can pick up some more when we’re out later today, I think.”
Don’s face was downcast.
“Hey, buddy, it’s okay,” Barry assured. “Accidents happen. When I was your age, I was knocking things over all the time! Isn’t that right, Iris?”
But Iris had a single eyebrow raised.
“When you were his age, Bear? Honey, you still do that.” She crouched down so she was at eye-level with her twins. “You guys have seen Dad play baseball, right?” She cringed, and the twins followed suit.
Barry almost mentioned cooking. He was incredibly close to pointing out how at least he could cook. But he figured he could swallow his ego for the sake of the adorable moment unfolding right now with his little family. So, instead he laughed, indulging them.
“All right, guys, why don’t I make us all some pancakes? Enough excitement for one morning anyway.”
“Yaaay!” the twins cheered, and Iris smiled.
“Come on, guys, you can help me set the table while Dad starts breakfast.”
Eagerly the five-year-olds trailed after their mother into the kitchen and handled the plastic plates and cups with care on their way to the dining table. Iris stopped to give her husband an appraising look from head-to-toe. He locked eyes with her, knowing what that look was for. His woman was undressing him with her eyes and forcing him to redirect his thoughts lest he develop a boner in front of their children.
Iris’ latest kink had been seeing her husband be such a Dad with their adorable children. He only wished they could squeeze in some alone time before they took off for the recital that evening. He muttered something incoherent after she left, trying to suppress the semi-arousal when her lofty giggle reached his ears, setting off a series of delicious sensations.
“Daddy, hurry up! We’re hungry!”
He cleared his throat and shook himself out of it.
“Coming right up, Princess,” he responded, enacting his super speed to make this breakfast a speedier one. The giggle from his daughter successfully redirected his thoughts, and for the morning at least, he didn’t have to worry about that type of embarrassment unfolding.
After a day of some playtime and a few more practice rounds, Barry and Iris prepared their kids for the concert and headed over to the lavish ballroom in downtown Central City. Iris was particularly fussy over their kids’ appearances, but the two pristine looking five-year-olds pushed her away when they spotted their teacher near the entrance.
“They look great, Mrs. West-Allen,” their teacher assured her, and Iris felt a twinge of embarrassment for herself mixed with pride in her darling children.
“Thanks, Mrs. Beesly.”
The woman nodded and took a hand from each of the children in her own, heading behind the curtain and down the long hall to where the rest of the participants were located.
“C’mon, Iris,” Barry urged, brushing her elbow. “Let’s go find our seats.”
She shook off her nerves at leaving her babies and focused instead on her husband, who was looking incredibly sexy and looking at her much the same way she had looked at him that morning.
“Are you sure that’s all you want to do, Mr. Allen?” she asked sultrily, sidling up to him.
He chuckled but made a mentally ordered his lower regions to calm down.
“That’s all we can do right now, Mrs. West-Allen,” he said into her ear. “Unless you want to miss out on our kids’ amazing dance routine during the opening act?”
She sighed regretfully. “I suppose you are right.” She drew her finger down his shirt till right above his belly button, retracting it when she heard him suck in a breath of air suddenly. “Let’s find our seats then.” She patted his chest and headed for the concert hall, swaying her hips slightly as she did so.
“That’s deliberate,” he muttered under his breath and followed her to their seats.
Despite the oozing sexual tension between the Allen and West-Allen respectively, all of that faded away when they saw their kids on stage. The other kids performed very well of course, but there was nothing quite like seeing Don and Nora West-Allen dressed as fashionably as their mother and performing as naturally as their father. They blew the crowd away and had their parents gushing.
Iris clapped enthusiastically both times they performed, and after the last hit of the night, there was a standing ovation. Iris had to keep herself from running up to the stage after the encore and handing each of her children a brilliant red rose and a bag of cookies.
“You both did so amazing!” she fawned. Barry repeated the sentiment.
“Yeah?” Don asked, his eyes alight with wonder.
“We did?!” Nora squealed, jumping up a bit on her toes.
“You were the best,” Barry assured, smiling so wide it almost hurt.
They each hugged their children, and as soon as the crowd had started to dissipate, they let their precious five-year-olds jump down into their arms and then walk proudly out the door with them, a skip in their step, as they hopped into a limo and went out for ice-cream.
“Ooo, a limo,” Don gawked at the sight, both when they were outside and inside.
Iris looked over at her husband, an eyebrow raised.
“Yes, wherever did you find it?”
The window partition between them and the driver lowered at the stop light, revealing one Cisco Ramon.
“Uncle Cisco!” the children cheered.
“At your service, monsieur and madam.” He tipped his hat.
Iris looked at him curiously.
“It’s a side gig I picked up just for kicks,” he explained easily.
Iris suspected that wasn’t the whole truth, but she let it slide. If she knew her husband and her friend, Barry had rented the limo as a surprise for their kids and had selected not to have a driver because Cisco wanted to be a part of the action.
But she wouldn’t pester Barry about that until later. He’d probably silence her with kisses – and there were children present.
“Well, all right then, Uncle Cisco. Take us away!”
“Will do, Madam.” He tipped his hat again, making Iris roll her eyes.
But Cisco rolled up the partition again and took them to their favorite ice cream spot in the city where they all enjoyed their favorite dish. At the end of the night, Cisco dropped off the family of four just when the young West-Allens’ sugar high was finally starting to drop. By the time they reached their bedrooms – of which Barry and Iris had carried them halfway to – they were both half-heartedly protesting to stay up longer and all but snoring once they were in their pjs and tucked away in bed.
“What a night,” Iris said, taking off her jewelry at her vanity.
“Our kids were terrific.”
“Mhmm,” she agreed.
“Especially Don. That boy can move.”
“Right into the couch apparently,” Iris snorted, but she knew her husband spoke the truth. She’d seen first hand how impressive her son’s moves had been up on the stage during the concert.
“It was an accident,” Barry said, coming up behind his wife and placing his hands on her arms. “I think his speed short-circuited for a second and sent him farther than he meant to go.”
Iris nodded. The super speed had started to show up in spurts in the last six months. It didn’t happen often enough for the children to notice, but Barry had picked up on it right away and the second time so had Iris. It was a point of concern, whether or not to tell their kids that they were metahumans. Iris wondered if they were too young to handle it and Barry wondered if they’d be targeted if it started happening more often and in public and if they couldn’t suppress it – or chose not to.
“Let’s not think about it tonight,” Barry said, sensing where her thoughts had gone. “They did great on stage. The crowd loved them. And they did that just by being them, no super speed required.”
Iris turned around in her husband’s arms and draped her arms over his shoulders.
“Something tells me they have you to thank for that.”
He shrugged. “I liked practicing with them.”
She smiled serenely.
“And I love you for it.”
She pulled him down for a sensual kiss, one she knew her husband couldn’t immediately draw back from.
“You’re not too tired, I see,” she said when they finally came up for air.
Wordlessly, Barry drew down the zipper on the back of her dress and let the gown to fall to the floor, pooling around her bare feet. Then he tipped her chin up so she could see the heat in his eyes.
“Not for this.”
Pleasure shot to the tips of her fingers and toes, and she shot up to capture his lips again, winding her legs around his waist when he lifted her up and placed her on top of her vanity, all manner of items falling to the floor.
With their children asleep just down the hall, Iris was impressively quiet. Barry was less so when they moved to the bed, but by then their children were in a deep sleep. Nothing save a roaring thunder could wake them from their slumber.

5 Where did you draw inspiration from?
My current WIP is an undercover story written to quite a specific prompt and I started writing it as quite lighthearted but it wasn’t working. I’ve now rewritten it and it’s darker. There’s going to be angst and insecurity!
17 Post the last line you wrote in your WIP
Sav offered to take the pull-out sofa but he staked his own claimthere and told her he wouldn’t be able to sleep in such a voluminous bed anyway.12 How many projects do you usually have going at once?
I try to limit my fanfic writing to manageable levels. I have had multiple on the go before - a long multi chap plus a couple of shorter works, but I’m really trying to work on my original novel so I’m definitely only going to do one fic at a time.
Thanks for the ask, lovely!
