More not-so-boring unknown gems! :>
I wanted to do this one for quite a while now. My whole Tear gems were inspired after that one statue and I really wanted to sketch what started it all 💫

Finally, we’re at the most recent one. Here’s Nosean, the fusion between Moonstone and Holly Blue Agate. She’s actually probably really anxious but with somewhat of a short temper. I really like how this one came out, she looks really nice.
She/They pronouns please.
To vote for the next gem to fuse with Moonstone, go here http://www.goo.gl/a9U7C1

Does Sodalite have family? (Kind of like there are variations of quartz's, jaspers) You know like Hauyne, Tugtupite, Nosean, Lazurite, or Danalite?
I wouldn’t say they’re “Family” but the closest gems related to Sodalites are Hauynes
Magician type gems

On Instagram, a lot of people asked me for "unusual” gem species to make unique Houseki no Kuni OCs.
I gave some idea on Instagram, but its very limited, so i’ll try to give a better and more detailed list of “alternative” minerals to certain, more famous gems everybody uses for HnK OCs.
Today the list is COLOURLESS GEMS! You want to do a colourless gem with original minerals than “diamond” and “white corundum/sapphire”? Read Below
PHENAKITE
Formula: Be2SiO4 Hardness: 7½ - 8 Classification: 9.AA.05 info: doesn't solve in any acid
HAMBERGITE
formula: Be2(BO3)(OH) hardness: 7½ classification: 6.AB.05 info: soluble in hydrofluoridic acid
DANBURITE
formula: CaB2Si2O8 hardness: 7 - 7½ classification: 9.FA.65 infos: very tough. sometimes yellow
BORACITE
formula: Mg3(B7O13)Cl hardness: 7 - 7½ classification: 6.GA.05 info: related to water. piezoelectric and pyroelectric (does elecricity like Melon in the manga). solves in muriatic acid and water
SINHALITE
formula: MgAl(BO4) hardness: 6½ - 7 classification: 6.AC.05 info: very rare, related to water
GATELITE
formula: CaCe3(AlAl2Mg)[Si2O7][SiO4]3O(OH)2 hardness: 6 - 7 classification: 9.BG.50 info: discovered in 2001, very new gem!
POLLUCITE
formula: (Cs,Na)2(Al2Si4O12) · 2H2O hardness: 6½ classification: 9.GB.05 info: VERY brittle, not very transparent, usually found in big pieces
OLIGOCLASE
formula: (Na,Ca)[Al(Si,Al)Si2O8] hardness: 6 - 6½ classification: 9.FA.35 info: related to moonstone and labradorite. sometimes aqua green alternative names: Amansite, Amantite, Lluvia
SANIDINE
formula: K(AlSi3O8) hardness: 6 classification: 9.FA.30 info: related to moonstone and labradorite. VERY clear!
HIBISCHITE (GARNET)
formula: Ca3Al2(SiO4)3-x(OH)4x hardness: 6½, rarely 7 classification: 9.AD.25 info: "special" garnet with hydrogen+oxigen. very tough (as every garnet) other names: Plasolite
EUCRYPTITE
formula: LiAlSiO4 hardness: 6½ classification: 9.AA.05 info: same group as Phenakite (see "classification")
HARMOTOME
formula: (Ba0.5,Ca0.5,K,Na)5[Al5Si11O32] · 12H2O hardness: 4 - 5 classification: 9.GC.10 info: very cool name. has a variety called Morvenite
NOSEAN
formula: Na8(Al6Si6O24)(SO4) · H2O hardness: 5½ classification: 9.FB.10 info: sometimes bright blue, related to Sodalite
ROEDDERITE
formula: KNaMg2(Mg3Si12)O30 hardness: 5 - 6 classification: 9.CM.05 info: has a sliiiight golden hue, is closely related to Osumilite. (i have a Osumilite OC, they'd be siblings, CUTE!)
SANBORNITE

EAKERITE
formula: Ca2SnAl2Si6O18(OH)2 · 2H2O hardness: 5½ classification: 9.CG.05 info: incredibly tough and strong for such a small, soft gem! Insoluble in any acid.
DOLOMITE
formula: CaMg(CO3)2 hardness: 3½ - 4 classification: 5.AB.10 info: VERY common, dissolves in acids, easily found attached to other minerals other names: Miemite, Tharandite, Pearl Spar, Rhomb Spar varieties: Ferroan Dolomite (a bit darker), Cobaltoan Dolomite (pink), Taraspite (green), Teruelite (black and heavy)

Sodalite rocks, Namibia | #EarthBeauty Sodalite is a rich royal blue tectosilicate mineral widely used as an ornamental gemstone. Although massive sodalite samples are opaque, crystals are usually transparent to translucent. Sodalite is a member of the sodalite group with hauyne, nosean, lazurite and tugtupite.
