P1 -Types of Scarcity in Post-Apocalyptic Fiction: A Comprehensive Guide to Survival Elements in Dystopian Worlds
Tumblr media
Understanding the Types of Scarcity
Material Resources: First, start with food, water, fuel, and ammo. Once you have the basics, move to less commonly thought-about things like batteries, clothing, scrap metal, and wood.
Skills and Knowledge: Doctors, engineers, survival experts, and mechanics would be some people worth knowing or being in a post-apocalyptic world. What if there were none?
Emotional Resources: Once the world goes to hell, trust and community become resources. Surviving sometimes means getting along with others; you'll want all parties to mean it. Getting fed to a zombie so someone can escape sounds like no fun.
Information: Who are you going to let hold the map for you? Things can get harder on your team if it gets stolen, left behind, or destroyed. In a world without GPS, information is a resource; let's face it, you must trust its handler.
This is part one of a five-part writing guide to post-apocalyptic scarcity. Tune in next time for a more in-depth breakdown of scarcity and who makes the decisions? Not me, that's for sure. I'd probably be the one used as zombie bait first.

Pathetic Fallacy
Something I Learned Today, and I Wish to Share Here to Help Anyone:
Use Your Setting to Add Emotional Depth: A Guide to Pathetic Fallacy
What is Pathetic Fallacy?
Pathetic fallacy is when features of inanimate nature are given human feelings or characteristics.
It is a powerful tool to express a character's feelings using the surroundings, creating an atmosphere without explicitly stating what the characters feel.
Using Nature to Echo Emotions:
Despair and Loss: The vivid colors of surroundings might turn gray, or a relentless drizzle may cast the landscape in gloom when a character is overwhelmed by despair. These subtle changes deepen the emotional connection for readers.
Anger and Turmoil: Incorporate dynamic elements like a thunderstorm to reflect intense emotions. The violent winds and sharp flashes of lightning mirror the inner turbulence of the character, making the turmoil palpable.
Reflection and Sorrow: For softer emotions, use elements like a gentle breeze through leaves or a thick fog. These details not only set the mood but also draw readers into experiencing the character's quiet sorrow.
Practical Tips for Writers:
Identify the Emotion: Clearly understand the emotion you want to convey.
Choose Suitable Elements: Select environmental details that naturally reflect or enhance this emotion, such as weather conditions, landscape features, or the state of inanimate objects.
Integrate Subtly: Blend these elements into the narrative subtly. They should support and not overwhelm the emotional tone of the scene.
Why Use Pathetic Fallacy?
Pathetic fallacy does more than decorate a scene; it connects readers to your character's emotional journey, making the story immersive and moving.
By aligning the external environment with the character’s internal state, you create a unified narrative that resonates deeply with readers.

South Africa Clinches Historic Fourth Rugby World Cup Title with 12-11 Win Over New
South Africa has won a record fourth Rugby World Cup by clinging to a narrow win over New Zealand 12-11 in a dramatic final held on October 28, 2023. Match at the Stade de France in Paris. This tension-filled and bruising contest was stamped with the red card on New Zealand's Sam Cane, given for a high tackle on Jesse Kriel of South Africa in the 29th minute as the first red card issued in the history of the Rugby World Cup final. The All Blacks fought bravely despite being reduced to 14 men. Handré Pollard scored all South Africa's points with four penalties while Richie Mo'unga kept New Zealand in the game with two successful penalties. It was Beauden Barrett's try that gave them a glimmer of hope. Mo'unga missed his conversion in the remaining points of the score, leaving the score just one point apart. New Zealand got a long-range opportunity to take the lead in the match in late stages, but Jordie Barrett's attempt at a penalty sailed over. South Africa held on for seconds, becoming the first team in history to win four World Cup titles.

The Creative Writing Industry
It's a while since I wrote anything about my books. I first got into blogging by accident when months in and I found out about Cerebral Palsy for the first time. Since then I have gone on to write 3 books and have been published three times. Roll on to 2023 and the creative writing industry looks and feels different to when I first started writing my first book.
Brexit has hit the creative industries including the book and animation industries The UK had already got Brexit done and then the world spiralled into a pandemic. And while the book industry was ticking over, the book industry is changed and the independents are struggling to get their voices heard.
Social media is awash with authors trying to get their books out I can't speak for other authors on their experiences, but I can walk you through my experiences. Social media is awash with independent authors trying to get their books out to anyone who will pay them attention.
Unless you're a celebrity your voice goes unheard. My books are no exception, but they also deal with mental health and mental health is being ignored worldwide.
My 'Books'
When I first penned pen to paper to write 'Cerebral Palsy: A Story' I made the decision to support mental health charities. I have stuck to my word, but haven't scratched the surface. My two other books include my healing story, 'Spirituality, Healing and Me' and then when the pandemic struck I wrote a third book about Covid called, Survival: 'The Covid Years.' If you're interested in dealing with how you feel, your mental health and you fancy grabbing copies of my books, they are available to purchase on my website here https://www.thecpdiary.com/my-books/

My first kiss went a little like...
First kisses are brutally shamed for being a lot of things, sloppy, embarrassing and not at all enjoyable. You’ll question the lack of butterflies or the lack of any sort of finesse and confidence, but in all that chaos we forget they are just supposed to be one thing and that is ‘first’. The word ‘first’ itself implies that there may be more to come, that the second will follow in its wake, and…

Author Journal 30th January - 5th February 2023
Join me on my writing journey as I reflect on last week's progress, share my goals for the coming week, and overcome challenges. Let's inspire each other to achieve our writing milestones! #writingprogress #fictionwriting #nonfictionwriting
Hiya 👋 Last week was one of those weeks where I felt like I wasn’t making any real progress. I was getting work done, but it felt like wading through porridge that’s been left on the side for so long that you could set fence posts in it. Have you ever had those weeks? I seem to get them a lot. Anyway, last week I added my non-fiction writing goals into the mix. That could be what made things…

Image source: World Languages Facebook Page
If I could learn anything I would choose to learn every language. As a human being, we have our limitations and boundaries in life including knowledge. Perhaps other remarkable people in the history or in our current generation have a privilege and the knowledge to learn more than 5 or more languages but not everyone could learn every language that exist around the world. As a Language Studies student, these will give me the ability to communicate effectively with people from all over the world that would open up countless opportunities for personal growth, cultural exchange, and understanding. It could help me connect with people on a deeper level, build stronger relationships, and make a positive impact on the world. I believe positivity, willingness, motivation, and interaction are the most powerful resources you could have to learn something new in your life.
