okay so. found a way to exit the right side of the mines. there's definitely something above the mountain in a screenshot above, I saw it, but I can't get up there. so. it'll stay a mystery for now.

Went far enough right and found a shit ton of enemies though! What are they called again? Hisi?

I'm proud of myself for being able to manage them, with this resulting ocean of blood. blood takes up a lot more space on a 2d plane, eh?

Also found a pyramid. Couldn't get in, but hey, there was cool stuff on top!

I grabbed everything up there. There didn't seem to be consequences for this one.

Also found my way to a watchtower, which was cool, but I couldn't do much beyond kill a few scorpions.

I do wonder how you're suppose to get under here. Oh well, that's a mystery for another time!

Climbed up what felt like the edge of the world, since it was super possible, and found... something I couldn't get into lol

So went back, and started going down the tunnels a bunch of enemies came out earlier. and ended up dying and felling down to op enemy hell.

Man, I do a lot when I get my hands on something that's just ok but effective.

Do people actually like layer 2 of act 1? It's soooo fucking BAD like holy shit every level of this layer is awful in one way or another. Either boring and unmemorable or frustrating and annoying. And the railcannon is so fucking boring to use I don't like it.

The Corpse of King Minos is also just. Not a good fight. First of all, the hand you fight first. Can barely heal off of it, so if you get hit, fuck you your starting the fight low on health. Then the fight itself, where you can also barely heal. There is one place you can reliably get blood and that's his fingers. Which are also the part most attacks come from, so if he's attacking fuck you you don't get to heal. His attacks are really hard to avoid because he's fucking giant, and the black hole homing in on you is really annoying and hard to avoid. AND WHY DOES IT HAVE TO PUT YOU ON ONE HP AND REDUCE YOUR MAX TO LIKE 10 WHYYYYYYY

so yeah. shit layer. absolutely has killed my enjoyment of the game. Not even sure if I'm gonna keep playing.

I don't know if anyone who follows me has any idea what this game is, but it's wonderful so I'm posting about it anyway and you should play it.

The build I had wasn't actually quite ideal; there were a handful of "dead perks" that I had but were never very useful. I did have a couple key perks that made it all work though: immunity to melee damage and fire damage were both extremely useful to have available, and the faster wands perk was really the lynchpin that made it work in the first place. Also I had the lukki mutation perk in this run, which turns me into a fucked up spider monster and is frankly I think my favorite perk in the game on aesthetic grounds alone. Very pleased to beat the game for the first time with that one.

I managed to make a wand with both a cast delay and recharge time of 0 seconds, meaning it fires as fast as the game can go. I also had 2 add mana spells attached, meaning it generated 60 mana per shot, more than it used in the first place. Therefore, I could produce an unending stream of projectiles (4 per shot: concentrated light, luminous drill, and 2x spark bolt) at such a rapid rate that using the recoil from the wand to propel myself was far faster than any other mode of movement available to me. Simply point the wand in the direction opposite where I want to go, pull the proverbial trigger, and annihilate everything in one direction while launching yourself in the other.

The other key capability I had was being able to dig through any material quickly. The unending stream of concentrated light and spark bolts could plow though even fairly hard materials in seconds, while at close range (albeit with difficulty due to the recoil throwing me away from whatever I was trying to dig) the luminous drill spell could cut through anything the other spells couldn't. This allowed me to access places I otherwise couldn't and bypass challenges that may have killed me when I had low health.

The final boss was interesting, and this was the first time I actually even saw it in the first place. It was a big spider-like thing that shot a lot of bullets and had a shield protecting it that seemed to appear and disappear at random-ish intervals. Once I figured that out and the shield disappeared I was able to burn through it in pretty much one go with the same approach as I'd used for everything else in the run. Incidentally, my shitty laptop actually wound up helping in the part. The game had such difficulty handling all the projectiles on screen from both the boss and myself that the framerate dropped considerably, slowing down all movement in the game and making dodging boss projectiles much easier.

Incidentally, this is only actually the 2nd or 3rd most impressive primary offensive wand I have ambitions to create in this game, with #1 being a combination of #2 and #3. I was very nearly able to create #1 this run. In fact: had I found the concentrated spells perk I could have made a wand with the same rate of fire but casting 11 spells per shot, each with +137.5 bonus damage. For reference, the final boss had 1660 HP, meaning I could have very nearly oneshot it on a non-critical hit and a crit would have completely annihilated it.

Aside from this there are a few other wands I have vaguer ideas about creating, like holy bomb + explosion immunity (crucial) + some projectile duplicating effect, but those aren't as well crystallized yet.

All in all I'm very excited about what I've learned in the game so far and eager to keep exploring and see what else I can do with it.

It took me 220 runs but I finally beat Noita. May make a post on it in the morning; my winning run was a wild ride.

Sorely surprised that the Finnish rougelike you recommended wasn't Noita. Given your propensity for opaque riddles writ in unfamiliar languages, as well as systems that rely solely on the player's ability to comprehend the repercussions of combining the "explode" spell with the "appear 1 meter in front of me" spell...

UnReal World contains a magic system conducted entirely through complicated time-consuming rituals and it's never actually told to the player whether it does anything, but it feels nice to summon more fish and then have good luck fishing, so it might be best to believe it does work

it's thematically important to the point where I'd say it outright constitutes a major spoiler to check whether they actually work instead of just understanding that they either work through programming or work through literal invocation of your real-life local spirits

24 days ago, I bought Noita. 97 hours of gameplay later, I beat it for the first time. All credit for this win goes to the Wand of Cone of Freezing Cold (feat. Tentacles)

absolutely! it's tricky though and you DO still need a distinctly good run, and it might take some practice

the earlier you get Teleport Bolt or some other method of escaping the holy mountain without collapsing it, the better, that way you can keep returning to edit wands as much as you'd like

for healing, after getting greek spells i highly recommend heading to wandmart (that fungal overgrown cavern area under the desert) and very carefully searching there until you get heal bolt, you'll probably find it eventually but. good luck. it can be really tricky, esp. if you don't have any saved hp restores

there's also a heal in the dark cave, and i recommend saving your heals (and spell restores) from holy mountains if you can reasonably afford to

for digging, yeah you still need to get EDR-capable stuff. not really a way around that as far as i know. there's a surprisingly high amount tho, like luminous drill and sawblade orbit! also going to fungal cavern early helps a lot too, lots of good wands there

there's definitely still some (read: a lot) of RNG in all this but this cuts down on it a LOT; you shouldn't actually need any specific perks but you'll still probably need good perk luck (and Will need good spell luck) just because it's fuckin hard as fuck, and ofc you need spell luck

heavy spoilers ahead, labeling just in case:

honestly you're still trying to get edit wands anywhere and some kind of regen, but you don't have to do that in main world! if you can get infinite heals (from wandmart + alchemist), Cursed Rock digging, and a bottle of ambrosia (might be able to check fungal cavern if you don't have one?), you can try just going to parallels until you find TWWE, you shouldn't need to reroll but it might take a few worlds (during which you can prepare to break reroll machines and get a bunch of perks along the way, and get better spells and stuff)

theoretically you don't need infinite heals either but i don't think ive pulled that off myself, good luck if u decide to / need to go down that route

picked up noita again after ages of not playing it, is there really any way to do the extended stuff without tinker with wants everywhere and some sort of health sustain? i made an OP wand and beat the end boss, but none of my perk rerolls were fruitful at all and my digging/movement wands weren't strong enough to justify going to the gold room above ground to fund further rolls

True but thats like. Part of the charm almost. All the issues. Yeah thankfully the days are lengthening again & the terrible holiday season has finally passed, which made me. So tired. Hence my response delay. Yeah they should chill but im glad that the last bit was. Easy for you? I was around my family for like. I wish more americans were like that some guy tried to talk to me a bit at the theater yesterday when i went to see godzilla minus one & it was exhausting. I will believe in the process because star rail is also giving me that pain with argenti's story quest & ruan mei's swarm thing. Ah okay so antimatter legion but less controlled in a way. Oh so thats what herscherr means. How come some have like multiple herscherr forms if ive seen right? Entymology is very interesting i love it. I sure need to remember traces & such more i keep forgetting. & it shows in my multi target dps characters. Worlds worst wingwoman indeed i love her. GOD. my family In General is like. Fine. i really dont mind them. but i have to stay with my grandma who is just impossible to coexist with...... luckily my mom allowed me to mostly just hang out in our room and not interact with her that much since she shares my opinion. and augh that sounds. AND FOR REAL i genuinely do not believe theres such thing as a good school. or even a Normal school. also fairrrrrr i actually returned to star rail for ruan mei [<- not immune to Pretty Autistic Women] and also had trouble with the swarm boss...... actually made me update my clara build. can you believe this. but tbh i havent done argentis quest yet and im fully spoiler free so im gonna see how that goes JDJGKKSJG. and yeah!! and with multiple herrscher forms its like. usually people obtain multiple herrscher forms either in like. change in belief? approach? which lets them harness other parts of their power [or add new ones], like in the case of HoFlamescion or HoTruth; merge [HoRimestar]; or find a new external source of their power [CE HoOrigin, HoFinality]. but i dont believe its ever explained in Detail so yeah. but generally, the power of a herrscher is stored in their herrscher core, so obtaining multiple cores can give people multiple authorities [like in the case of sirin]. but as i said, typical Honkai Confusion. ETYMOLOGY IS SUPER FUN YEAH...... and for real. if manaria has 1000 fans i am one of them if manaria has 1 fan its me against the world if manaria has no fans i am dead. noita IS fun but i should warn you youre not gonna get anywhere without external guidance. i mean. Maybe you will but its gonna be frustrating as hell and near impossible. its that kind of game. but the fanbase knows that and is actually very helpful!!! solving this games secrets is a team effort. as of right now i have 63h in and 2 wins [got one today, actually! congrats, me.] but i rec it heavily. its fun. AND YES GOD YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW HI3 FANS SCARED ARE FOR HSR HIMEKO. they cant take her from us again............ AND YES SEELE. I LOVE SEELE. its actually canon she has a kind of "you are not immune to seele" aura that makes people unable to say no to her bc of just how much of a lovely person she is. and yes that is the reason bronya floats around ingame!!! AND WELL. due to the fact that bronya and mei are both a part of the Main Trio, telling you. literally Any amount of lore about them would take me way too fucking long. and im so sorry but im just mentally unable to do that. and thank you o7 polska gurom ‼‼‼‼💯💯💥🔥💥‼💯🔥💥
