PMATGA:Not Only Ghosts Are Dead
The Story to my Apocalypse AU...
I'm going back to working on it..
Anyways, some important Information about what's to come!!
Due to school starting back next week, and a comic being scripted and in the works for Murder Drones, NOGAD(Not only ghosts are dead) will be a while between each update, aiming for one or two months apart. This goes the same with my comic. I also have other things I'd like to work on while writing and making my comic so yeah.
I'll hopefully have chapter two out next week, if not, I've been busy with my comic.
If you haven't read the Prologue and Chapter One yet, you can read it on Ao3 with this link
NOGAD may be republished on Wattpad and Tapas in the future to have a wider audience, but yeah.
Thank you for reading, ADC/SDC signing off, Bye-Bye!

Skeleton man, all of this is backwards. Do you think Mehrunes Dagon would enjoy a good horn scritch? Like just imagine giving the big man horn scritches. (:<
In all honesty, I’m not sure he’d feel feel it. His horns—like most Daedra’s—have bone bases with keratin shells, which means he couldn’t quite feel something touching them. Though, he might appreciate the gesture!
However, I wouldn’t recommend touching a Daedra’s horns without permission/unprompted. Very rude.
This also reminds me that I need to make a new dremora headcanons post

IT ENDS TODAY! THE FINAL SEVEN ENTRIES ARE HERE! HUZZAH!
Our first monster today is @bonelessnerd‘s island monster, Nogad. There were a couple of attempts to take the mythological concept of “an island that is also a monster” and give it an Atom Age revampe for this contest, but Nogad went the extra mile and also worked in a reference to The Fantastic Voyage and other “people shrink down and experience the terrors of life at a very small size” movies that coexisted with the kaiju films ATOM pays homage to. Massive even for a kaiju, Nogad is a brain-dead, comatose creature whose internal organs are an ecosystem all their own - and one that people actually end up exploring! That’s right, he’s a literal Monster Island. I had no idea what the rest of Nogad’s body was supposed to look like (his original picture cuts off at the waist), so I tried to keep it as taxonomically dubious as possible.
@polygonfighter‘s tar skeleton monster Index (original entry here) is next on our list. There were a few different attempts at giving ATOM a blob monster (I suppose the Writhing Flesh’s features are too well defined for it to count), and Index mixed the whole “living tar monster” concept (a well known variant of the blob monster archetype) with a cool grim reaper motiff, giving ATOM a nice ghost kaiju in addition to a blob. And yes, Index is literally a ghost in the ATOM interpretation of its bio - ectoplasm and all.
Torgong (original entry here) by SirKaijuofVaudeville is our next entry. Like other entries in the contest, Torgong’s bio homages other prominent trends in atomic age monster fiction that ATOM otherwise overlooked - specifically the idea of “mole people” (which I suppose ATOM kinda skirts close to with the Reptodites but doesn’t fully embrace), ancient civilizations, giant monster god worship, and human sacrifice. There are also some neat ties to ATOM’s hints that aliens might have experimented with hybridizing terrestrial fauna - Torgong may be Mothmanud’s kin by way of genetic modification! Also he’s a big gnarly rock dog man, and that’s pretty rad.
Cervere (original entry here) by @scatha5 is our next monster, and a particularly bonkers one at that: he’s a big smelly cat. Like, super smelly. Sometimes in a good way, sometimes in a bad way, depending on what kind of smells you appreciate. Powerful odors aren’t tied to felines all that often, but considering how often they rub or spray their fluids on things to mark their territory, it makes a lot of sense. Cervere’s color scheme is also pretty rad - I particularly love that punk rock purple crest of hair. All in all, a good smelly cat.
@cstalli‘s beautiful flower fairies, the Trifitan Arum (original entry here), are our next monster, though calling them monsters might be a bit slanderous. They reproduce rapidly, sure, but their effect on the environment is nothing but beneficial, and they’re completely non-malicious so long as their gardens are protected. I’m a sucker for heroic monsters, especially ones that are environmentalists, and I’m also a sucker for the idea of plant people, so these fairies are pretty fuckin’ awesome on a lot of levels to me.
Our penultimate monster is @profcene‘s well meaning amphibious hyena, Gevlek (original entry here)! Taking ATOM’s design themes to heart, Gevlek uses a traditionally “evil” animal as a base and builds a really sympathetic and benevolent personality for it, making a lovable scavenger whose desire for friendship is hampered by his own social awkwardness. It’s ok, Gevlek, you’re in good company. There are a lot of cool little design details that make Gevlek more than JUST big hyena, from the giraffe-like horns to his slightly sea-monstery dorsal fin and lizardy tail. He’s a good boy.
Our final monster is @ask-drakos‘s enormous blackbird, Okhalee (original entry here)! After tons of weird prehistoric, flightless, and/or vampiric birds, it’s kind of nice to get one that’s basically just a big normal bird with a few extra claws and wattles. Okhalee has a fun personality too, having been the result of a sudden kaiju-fication and thus retaining all the aggressive territoriality of his much smaller kin. He’s one of those “heroic to humans because he does not tolerate other monsters” style kaiju - an asshole to other giant monsters, but a protector to the tiny mammals living in his territory.
And that’s it! No more files! However, there are a few prizes left for me to give to our Grand Winners, so check out after the cut, won’t you?
I’ve said it a lot already, but picking winners for this contest was tough. So many quality monsters were submitted that I couldn’t narrow anything down - there were just too many good concepts out there! I’ve also said before that I’d like to one day make files for EVERY KAIJU ENTERED. I have no idea if I’ll ever reach that goal - I have a lot of other projects to do - but I really cannot overstate how much I love all the monsters you guys made!
That said, if you recall the original contest posting all those months ago, I did say there would be a Grand Prize Winner for the person who went above and beyond. Narrowing it down to just one winner proved to be impossible (just as narrowing down the entries to just five kaiju files proved to be impossible), but at the same time, there were a few people whose multiple entries wowed me so consistently that I had to take notice. These people didn’t just make choosing a few kaiju out of twenty seven entrant’s lineups hard - they made it hard to choose a single winning entry from their entire offering.
Or, more simply, they made a new criteria for the Grand Prize Winner: “Which person made it almost impossible to choose which monster of their lineup was the best?”
Everyone made excellent monsters, of course, and I love every monster submitted, but with most people who made multiple entries you could tell there was one they had thought through just a bit more than the others - one that shined the brightest from their bunch. But a few entrants bucked that trend and produced a whole slew of well thought out and creative creatures. These entrants are our Grand Prize Winners:
@cerothenull
@canadian-tuxedo-mask
@akitymh
@quinnred
@bonelessnerd
As per the rules of the contest, you five get the grand prize of Forcing Me to Watch and Liveblog a Movie of Your Choice Provided It Is 1. Legally Available In the USA At A Reasonable Price and 2. Not a Porno. That, uh, probably seems underwhelming after getting a kaiju file, but I didn’t plan on giving a kaiju file to everyone so uh, there we are I suppose.
I cannot thank you all enough - not just the grand prize winners, but every single one of you who entered this contest! You made a whole pantheon of wonderful, wild, and weird monsters for the whole world to enjoy, and in particular you made me very happy! I hope to hold another contest like this in the future - and if I do, I hope to see every one of you among the entrants! Thank you all again!

The Sixteen Acceptable Blasphemies and Apotropaic Magic
Originally posted on r/teslore, now expanded. regarding the Sixteen Acceptable Blasphemies of the Pocket Guide to the Empire, First Edtion. After the dedication to the Emperor Tiber Septim and the invocation of the Divines, there is this section,

These are the Sixteen Acceptable Blasphemies. Read backwards, they read:
To BOETHIA the Fount of Inspiration.
To HIRCINE who is Half the Conscience of Men.
To MALACATH who speaks all Language Sideways.
To MEHRUNES DAGON whose Mistress is the Blazing Sun.
To SHEOGORATH the Comforter of Men.
To MOLAG BAL whose Breath is Most Foul.
To NAMIRA whose Works endure forever.
To MEPHALA who threads the Needle with the Hair of wives.
To CLAVICUS VILE who always answers.
To NOCTURNAL whose Touch is Mink.
To PERYITE whose Foundation is Falling Rock.
To AZURA the Rim of all Holes.
To MERIDIA who contains the Plenum.
To HERMAEUS MORA who holds the Paper to the Light.
To SANGUINE who tastes the Shaven Fruit.
To VAERNIMA Weaver of the Panoply.
There’s been lots of speculation on what each invocation means, but why are they acceptable blasphemies for the officially sanctioned Imperial Geographical Society?
I've searched to see if anyone has brought up "apotropaic magic" before in regards to the sixteen acceptable blasphemes, and couldn't find anything, so I'll try to develop this thought myself.
"Apotropaic magic" is about avoiding harm from evil influences, and in its very basic form, it's left a trace on our vocabulary and practices. "Knock-on-wood", "lucky rabbit foot", "crossed fingers", "Break a leg." etc. But the specific form of "apotropaic" magic that I think is relevant to the acceptable blasphemes is a form in which you acknowledge forces that might be harmful if you don't treat them with respect/distance.
So, in the folklore of the British Isles, the fairies/Sidhe/other supernatural creatures aren't called "the good folk" or "the gentry" or "good neighbours" because they're nice, but because they can really mess you up if you don't give them some respect. On the other hand, they also can be surprisingly helpful on occasion if you do manage everything correctly in your relations with them. Still, you don't want to get deeply involved, so you stick to a series of apotropaic euphemisms and little rituals for dealing correctly with them.
Here's a nice explanation of apotropaic euphemisms from an essay on *A Mid-summer Night's Dream* by A.D. Nuttall.
The fairies were called 'The Good Folk' not because they were benevolent but in the hope of making them so — we can almost say, because they were in fact the reverse of benevolent. [. . . ] Good Folk', then, is a conciliating, propitiatory description, which can be paralleled in other languages. For example the avenging Furies whom we have already met in Plutarch and can find again in Aeschylus were called the 'Eumenides', 'The Kindly Ones'.
In Sophocles' *Oedipus at Colonus* the chorus sings [. . . ]As we call them the kindly ones, that they may receive the supplicant safe, with kindly heart!
Near the end of the seventeenth century Robert Kirk wrote in T*he Secret Commonwealth of Elves, Fauns and Fairies*, 'These sith's or Fairies, they call sluagh-maith or the good people (it would seem, to prevent the dint of their ill attempts: for the Irish use to bless all they fear harme of)'.
We are dealing with a kind of euphemism, but not the kind we employ simply to avoid an undesired image (as in 'passed away' for 'died'). Rather, this euphemism is *put to work* (presumably in the hope of inducing the hearer to conform to the flattering description) with the design of *turning away* hostility. It is therefore an apotropaic euphemism.
- p. 54, 'Comedy as Apotrope of Myth' in Shakespeare Survey: Volume 53, Shakespeare and Narrative: An Annual Survey of Shakespeare Studies and Production ed. Peter Holland, 2000, Cambridge University Press.
In Morrowind, there's a specifically apotropaic propitiatory quest, given to you by Tholer Saryoni, in which you are sent to pay respects to the Four Corners of the House of Troubles. ESO adds a text, Daedra Worship: the Chimer, that expands on that quest’s ancient tradition.
here, in the rainbow shadow of the Crystal Tower, the so-called Prophet Veloth communed with the Daedric Prince Boethiah and agreed to accept her gifts. He inscribed the Velothi Prophecies, which expounded the doctrine of worship of the "Good Daedra" (Boethiah, Azura, and Mephala), along with ways to propitiate and negotiate with the "Bad Daedra" (Molag Bal, Malacath, Sheogorath, and Mehrunes Dagon).
Similarly, the "acceptable blasphemes" in the PGE1 look a lot like apotropaic invocations. They're acceptable because they're within that narrow, cautious dealing with the Daedra, not an invitation to let them in and run the place. The fact that they're written down backwards really strengthens that interpretation. Apotropaic invocations were in fact sometimes written down backwards in the real Ancient World.
The PGE1′s approach to the Daedra fits in well with the games’ original lore about the Imperial approach to the Daedra. In early games, the Imperial position seems to be that the dose makes the poison with daedra worship. A little might be beneficial or necessary. A lot is dangerous for your health and soul. Daedric summoning is carefully regulated in the Empire, although the worship of Daedra is never illegal.
That may have changed with the Oblivion Crisis, though we don’t know the exact legal status of organizations such as the Vigil of Stendarr . ...
Back to the subject of ordinary interactions with the Daedra, there’s an ESO text by Lady Cinnabar of Taneth: Persistence of Daedric Veneration which rounds out this folkloric relationship with the Daedra in ordinary life.
So, Phrastus, Daedra worship survives in Tamriel only at the level of forbidden cults? On the contrary, it's easy to show that veneration for Daedra is widespread and widely accepted among the folk of Tamriel, despite the desires and opinions of priests and professors. Ask the hunter why he mutters a prayer to Hircine as he draws his bow. Ask the gardener why she asks Mephala to spare her vines from slugs and worms. Ask the guardsman why he invokes the valor of Boethiah as he draws his sword. And one doesn't have to look hard to find worshipers of Sanguine during Carnaval, or Hermaeus Mora among scholars at any time.
If you’re asking the Daedra to do something for you, you might need your Acceptable Blasphemies and other small rituals to keep yourself safe.

Another entry for @tyrantisterror‘s kaiju contest, this one a bit more unorthodox...
Nogad
Aliases- The Unliving Island, Numbskull Rock, Braindead Hill, The Cave of Flesh
Location- Unspecified rocky island of the coast of Polynesia
Size- just over 700 feet long upon initial discovery, and processes of decomposition and rampant cellular regeneration have since caused the kaiju’s body to expand to an extent not currently known. While technically the largest kaiju on record, most experts disqualify Nogad from that title due to its unusual “condition”
History- During the mass chain reaction event caused by nuclear testing, many yamaneon-rich Kaiju ecosystems were brought to the surface. One of the oddest events linked to this reaction is the mass beaching of roughly a dozen Kaiju-sized organisms within and around the Polynesian islands. Of these, all but one underwent what would become known as the typical process of kaiju decomposition, rapidly disintegrating into crystalline spires.
All except Nogad.
Amid the madness and frantic activity of the Atomic Age of Monsters, many budding kaijuologists lept at the opportunity to study a massive, inert specimen, as well as attempt to decipher the mystery of its lingering corpse. Wilhelmina Lerna notably abstained from the proposed expedition to observe the fallen titan, under the belief that more lives could be saved by studying the behavior of living kaiju than poking at the remains of a dead one.
Upon arrival, it became apparent that the kaiju was not truly dead- the occasional twitch and shudder of its massive body suggesting that Nogad was paralyzed in some way. A party was lead directly into the beasts massive maw by Dr. Jonah Gulliver, who discovered within what he described as “an entirely kaiju-based ecosystem”.
Biology- Nogad’s body houses an entirely unique biome consisting of massive, highly evolved parasites. Species of massive tapeworms, roundworms, sea lice, flukes, parasitic barnacles and more crawl and squirm throughout its inert flesh, feeding off of it as well as one another.
Dr. Gulliver discovered that the body of a kaiju provided virtually the perfect environment for parasites- a massive, infinitely regenerating host allowing them to grow larger and more advanced than any other opportunity available. Gulliver went on to become the world’s only expert in kaiju parasitology, on one occasion even being called on to treat Tyrantis for an infestation of massive radioactive scale-lice.
Nogad’s brain has been almost 50% consumed by a massive parasitic worm, dubbed “Trichinos” by Gulliver and potentially considered a kaiju in its own right. It is believed that Trichinos has some degree of control over the rest of the parasites in Nogad’s body through a combination of telepathy and pheromonal control. This bizarre collection of organisms is paradoxically the reason Nogad hasn’t dissolved into yamaneon crystals, acting as a life-support system of sorts for the comatose kaiju, their biological processes fueling the action of its internal organs while its regenerative cells are in a constant battle with the mundane processes of decay.
More History- Despite its fascinating nature, Nogad soon faded into a mere curiosity in the wake of increasing kaiju activity in the following years, although several follow-up exhibitions to the “unliving island” were launched.
Local youths and fishermen have mapped the beasts internal structures more intricately than any visiting scientist, and can be hired by wealthy thrill-seekers as guides. Many claim that the beast is “even larger on the inside”, although these claims have never been scientifically proven.
Photographs of Nogad’s inner body cavity were used as the cover art for The Thunder Lizard’s fifth album, Whalefall, featuring The Cashews.
Artist Notes
This one was really inspired by kaiju-style locations like Skull Island and the like, so I thought “what if the kaiju was the location”. The Atomic Fossilization thing short me down for a bit before i realized parasitic wasps and shit keep their victims alive as they feed of of them. There’s still a bit of a lovecraft vibe (and reference) but of a different sort than my last entry. Not gonna lie I got a bit of inspiration from modern kaiju films like Cloverfield and that one scene in Pacific Rim.

ATOM Create A Kaiju Contest Entry List
We’re over two weeks into the ATOM Create a Kaiju Contest with a little under five weeks remaining, and already there are a plethora of amazing entries! Nogard:
"Well then I will tell you what you want to know. We fought against an organisation of evil pokemon who wanted to destroy the world. They had lots of strong fighters in their army.
The ones who wanted to fight against this organistion searched members for their army to fight against them. An some guys from my homevillage and me joined them to fight the organisation.
The war itself took place in Unova and I can tell you it wasn't easy to fight there. We lost lots of comrades but we won the war and the organization was dissolved."
