Indian Elections: The Campaign and how much it worked (Part 1)
Since the results are out, let's talk about it (as if we haven't been doing it since the last few hours) properly.
First of all, Uttar Pradesh voters, you people are betrayers. I'm not saying it, BJP & its supporters are. But seriously, Samajvadi Party's campaign for this year was definitely strong. Yogi really thought that it's going to be a piece of cake didn't he. Thank you voters for showing them the ground reality. Ayodhya, Amethi, Raebareli, the trinity of my joy.
Rajasthan. Yes, BJP won here with 14 seats. But lost 10 seats. Congress really shone on its own here, gaining 8 seats when in the last election, it was on the zero mark. Sachin Pilot and that man alone worked on Rajasthan. Honestly they need to put him front and center.
Madhya Pradesh is 100% a well-deserved BJP sweep. Let's not forget that it's not the Modi factor that worked here, it was Shivraj Singh Chauhan. That man worked his ass off during Vidhaan Sabha campaign last year and it really paid off in Lok Sabha. (God, I still remember women crying when he didn't become the Chief Minister).
I guess it was tough for West Bengal voters, no? I'm not much familiar Bengal politics but from what I've heard, they had to choose between two evils. Still, Didi gets 29 out of 42 seats, leaving BJP and Congress on the 6 and 1 mark respectively.
Lmao, they fucked up in Bihar. I can rant for hours about this. The seat distribution was already messed up, but Nitish Babu leaving put the nail in the coffin. BJP and JD(U) won 12 seats each, with RJD and Congress winning 4 and 3 respectively. Left also got 2 or 3 seats. I'm glad Pappu Yadav (on Purniya seat) won nirdaliye. Well deserved.
As for Odisha, I guess people have lost all the hopes in Naveen Patnaik, because BJD remained on zero, BJP getting all of its seats (20). Congress won 1 seat here.
I don't have much to say about Delhi. It's a BJP sweep. I guess AAP didn't get to campaign much since Arvind Kejriwal was literally put in jail? I'm still salty that Kanhaiya Kumar lost.
That's all for now, rest in the next part.

[ad_1] Sanju Samson with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Riyan Parag in an event (PC: X) Rajasthan Royals went into the auction with a limited purse of Rs 41 crore. On expected lines, RR were cautious during the mega auction in terms of picking up players. They added 14 players to their roster. Jofra Archer, who has previously been one of the mainstays of RR’s attack, is back in the mix. The franchise has also added some punch to their spin-bowling stocks. RR also stumped everyone by picking up the 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi for Rs 1.10 crore. The young batter had recently cracked a quick-fire ton versus Australia U-19. Incidentally, they had retained six players before the auction – Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Dhruv Jurel, Riyan Parag, Shimron Hetmyer and Sandeep Sharma. Hits: Nitish Rana – The southpaw, who has over 2600 runs in the IPL, could form an integral part of RR’s unit. The middle-order batter, however, hasn’t exactly been among the runs over the last few seasons. RR would still trust Nitish to provide heft to their batting line-up, comprising mainly Indian batters. Jofra Archer – The England speedster was in supreme form in the 2020 IPL, bagging 20 wickets. Unfortunately, since then, he has been plagued by elbow and back issues. At his very best, Archer has a mean bumper, alongside possessing the skills to move the ball and bowl yorkers and variations in the slog. Wanindu Hasaranga/Maheesh Theekshana – With RR picking the Sri Lankan duo, they have some firepower in the spin department. Both the spinners have enough variations in their arsenal and generally bowl quicker through the air. The kind of skills that could come in handy at their home ground. Tushar Deshpande/Fazalhaq Farooqi – RR have further strengthened their pace-bowling stocks by buying Deshpande and Farooqi. Deshpande is a wholehearted cricketer and Farooqi is basically RR’s replacement for Trent Boult. The skiddy left-arm pacer swings the bowl upfront. RR also bought the young South African paceman, Kwena Maphaka. Misses: RR perhaps needed one more established power-hitter down the order. It is true that Shimron Hetmyer can give it a mighty thump and has done rather well for the franchise. He also cracked a blistering 91 against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots recently in the CPL. But, somewhere, RR could have bought another finisher. Glenn Phillips was an option. Liam Livingstone also was in the auction list, but with their purse, it was always going to be tough for RR to bid for him. In that respect, RR could be looking towards Shubham Dubey, the left-hander, to showcase his pyrotechnics. Overall Rating – 7/10 RR IPL Squad: Tushar Deshpande, Shubham Dubey, Yudhvir Singh, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Kwena Maphaka, Kunal Rathore, Ashok Sharma, Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, Shimron Hetmyer, Sandeep Sharma, Jofra Archer, Maheesh Theekshana, Wanindu Hasaranga, Akash Madhwal, Kumar Kartikeya, Nitish Rana The post Some mystery spin and Jofra Archer – RR’s top picks at mega auction appeared first on Sports News Portal | Latest Sports Articles | Revsports.
UPT20 League: Despite Losing, Rinku Singh Team Tops the Table | IPL Captain's Team Exits | Playoff Scenarios
Also Read: Paras Mhambrey Read the full article

UP T20, Season 2: Clinical Kanpur Superstars Beat Noida Kings By Seven Wickets
BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium: A complete team performance by Kanpur Superstars earned them a seven-wicket victory over Noida Kings in Season 2 of the Uttar Pradesh (UP) T20 League at the BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium here. The bowlers did a good job to restrict Noida to 119 and the batters then overhauled the challenge clinically with 28 balls to spare. On winning the toss, Noida opted to bat first. The start by the openers was rather watchful as they kept working the strike over and did not hit boundaries. In the early phase, Vineet Panwar was particularly good for Kanpur as he bowled a wicket-maiden – dismissing Aditya Sharma in the fourth over. Mukesh Kumar was then introduced into the attack; he bowled a very economical spell and took the wickets of Mohammad Amaan and Nitish Rana. When Mukesh dismissed Rana in the ninth over, Noida were 34 for four. Run-scoring wasn’t an easy task. The first six of the matches came off the bat of Piyush Chawla, who walked in at 50 for five in the 12th over and lofted his second ball down the ground. Up until then, Noida had managed only two boundaries in their innings. It was due to the efforts of Chawla, who scored 19 and Mohammad Sharim that Noida got to 119 in their 20 overs. Sharim’s knock was critical as he was the most aggressive Noida batter on the day. The 20-ball 35 was worth its weight in gold under the circumstances. During his innings, he smashed one four and four sixes. When he walked out to bat in the 16th over, Noida were 68 for six. Sharim started off as he intended to go – smashing his first ball for six over mid-wicket off Aaqib Khan. Sharim stayed through to the end and was run out off the last ball of the innings in an attempt to pick a run. Mukesh was Kanpur’s most successful bowler but the others too chipped in with good performances. Ankur Malik bowled two overs and took a wicket, conceding only four runs. Mohsin Khan picked two for 27 and there was a wicket apiece for Panwar and Aaqib. Kanpur’s run-chase was off to a shaky start when Aashiyan Saifi was dismissed in the second over while trying to clear mid-wicket. Shoaib Siddiqui, the Kanpur wicketkeeper-batter, allayed any nerves his team may have had. With his attacking approach, he ensured the runs came at a quicker pace. He smashed the first two balls of the fourth over for fours to find some momentum. Kanpur brought up their fifty in the eighth over when Siddique hit two fours off Rana’s off-spin. Adarsh Singh gave Siddiqui good company by holding one end. The first six of Kanpur’s innings came in the 10th over when he hit Naman Tiwari over fine-leg for a six. At the halfway mark, Kanpur had moved to 65. Siddiqui followed that with his first six when he hit Sharim over mid-wicket soon after. The partnership ended when Adarsh edged one to point off Tiwary. The pair had added 76 in good time and put Kanpur on course. That brought Sameer Rizvi to the crease, who seemed to be in a hurry to finish the game. He started by smashing two fours of Piyush Chawla. When Tiwari came on to bowl the 14th over, Rizvi started with a four off the second ball. He then pulled the third over the leg-side for a six and followed it up with another maximum over fine-leg. The Rizvi charge continued as the target approached and the Kanpur captain put on an exhibition for the fans. With four needed to win, he tried to follow up a six with another off Kartik Yadav but was bowled. His innings of 33 came off only 16 balls with three fours and three sixes. Siddiqui finished the match with a four off Prashant Veer over long-on and got to his half-century Brief scores: The Rizvi charge continued as the target approached and the Kanpur captain put on an exhibition for the fans. [ad_1] Nitish Kumar Reddy during the 1st innings of the Perth Test (PC: Debasis Sen) “Grateful, an innings to remember.” Nitish Reddy had posted the aforesaid statement on his Instagram account after cracking his maiden first-class hundred, against Bihar, in Patna. It wasn’t just about Nitish scoring an unbeaten 159 for Andhra. It was also about the way he scored those runs. He essayed a few crunchy drives off Veer Pratap Singh and also showcased his range of shots against Ashutosh Aman, the left-arm spinner, by playing with the turn and also against the turn. This hundred from Nitish came just before the 2024 IPL season, where he accumulated 303 runs. Once again, it wasn’t just about Nitish accruing 303 runs as he accumulated them with a touch of class. Soon, the Indian think-tank drafted the all-rounder into the limited-overs set-up. Although he missed the Zimbabwe series because of a hernia problem, it was crystal clear that the coaching staff had a vision – to pick him for the tour of Australia. Despite Nitish’s rather modest numbers with the bat in first-class cricket, albeit on some tricky decks back home, the selectors and Gautam Gambhir didn’t waver from their plans of selecting him for the tour Down Under. So, how did Nitish go about his business in his first Test, in Perth? For starters, the conditions in Perth are a world away from the wicket in Patna: A good covering of grass, alongside pace and bounce. On Day 1, there were perhaps a few indentations too. Nitish, who walked out to bat, with India in trouble at 73 for 6, soon was at the receiving end of a bumper from Mitchell Starc. It also seemed as if he had gloved it to the wicketkeeper. Fortunately for the all-rounder, Australia didn’t take the review. The Australian pace trio continued to bang it short at the Test debutant. In the 48th over, he took a blow on the glove. There was another bumper that whistled over Nitish’s helmet and into the gloves of the keeper. Despite wickets falling at the other end, Nitish was a picture of calmness at the crease. He took on Nathan Lyon, the off-spinner, with a few reverse sweeps. Nitish also upper-cut a short ball from Cummins over the boundary rope. So, what does Nitish have to say on playing in Perth, and against a pace attack comprising tall pace bowlers? He mentioned when you get any bouncers or something like those sharp spells, you just take them on your shoulders and just feel like you are taking a bullet for your country,” Nitish said. “So that really helped me a lot, that just boosted me up. So I was feeling that somehow you’ll have that on the back of the mind. He said that and I felt like you need to take bullets for your country,” he added. Nitish certainly implemented his coach’s famous words. There is also a backstory to Nitish’s fledgling career, which spurred him to aim for higher accolades. During the course of the 2024 Duleep Trophy, he had said this to RevSportz: “I started playing gully cricket and then went to a summer camp. My father (Mutyalu) got transferred to Rajasthan. He had some discussion with his colleagues, and they said, ‘oh, Rajasthan, this is not good, that is not good’. I was just 11 or 12 years old, I guess. It was the early stage of my career; I had not played any league. “So, at that time, he resigned from his job for me. It is something that I will remember for my life. He made the sacrifice for me. Of course, there were troubles. It was a government job; it was a big job at that time. He was humiliated by some people, relatives. He used to cry without letting me know. I took that as motivation.” His father would have been proud of his son's gusty hand of 41, which in turn could be the difference between the two sides.
Nitish’s skill set isn’t just restricted to batting as he also generates consistent swing with the ball. In what has turned out to be a fast-moving Test match, at some point of time, Nitish would be called upon by Jasprit Bumrah to bowl his quota of overs. It is difficult to predict whether Nitish will make an impact with the ball too. But there is no doubt that Nitish will continue to test the boundaries in order to get the best out of his abilities.
