Though Raj Sharma, a resident of Noida’s Sector 134, has worked in quite a few films including ‘PK’ and ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, he says his role of Dr Dubey in Talvar had a strong impact on his mind. The actor has witnessed both the scenarios – the real-life one and the one in the movie. Raj talks about how incident impacted Noidawallahs, his role in the film, the locations where the movie was shot and more. Raj Sharma (R) while filming a scene from ‘Talvar’ Raj has been living in Noida for the past 21 years, which helped him prepare for the role in the film. He says, “After Aarushi and Hemraj murder, the atmosphere in Noida changed completely. It was difficult for people to digest the fact that something like this could happen so close to them. The two most horrific cases in the country – the Nithari kand and Aarushi murder case – happened in Noida and both left people in shock.”  Raj recalls, “While some people said that the domestic help killed Aarushi, some assumed that it was a case of robbery and murder. The public wasn’t ready to believe that the parents have killed their daughter and even I believed the same. Also, Aarushi lived in Jalvayu Vihar. It is a safe area and people didn’t expect such an incident to happen there. Wahan pe aisi baat ho gayi toh common aadmi kahan jayega?” Raj Sharma and Atul Kumar in a still from the movie ‘Talvar’  He says, “It gives you an edge over others when you belong to the city the movie is based on. I knew everything about the case – the locations, the perspectives that people formed after the incident. Being from Noida and knowing everything about the city helped me do justice to my role. In the film, it is shown how Aarushi was strangled to death and I am seen showing the pictures of the murder scene to a Noida officer. At that time, I actually felt the brutality of the incident. I really had goosebumps.” Talking about his growing up days, Raj says, “I was born and brought up in Delhi. I did my schooling from Vivek Sthali School, Defence Colony, and graduation from Ram Lal Anand College. Mujhe acting ka keeda school ke time se tha. I used to take part in plays in school. I also participated in a Ramlila when I was in class IX. College mein aane ke baad, I was into street plays and I joined the South Campus’ dramatic society. We once performed a play at Mandi House and it was then that I got to know it was a hub of theatre.” He adds, “My father passed away when I was in the second year, so I had to drop out of college. After a few months of my father’s death, I joined an acting institute. Piyush Mishra and Manoj Bajpayee were among the alumni of the institute. They would often come there to stage plays with us. I learnt a great deal about acting from them.”  Since Raj belongs from Noida, he helped the co-producer zero in on the shoot locations in the city. He says, “I suggested some places to the makers for filming scenes. Some portions have been shot on the road in Sector 14 leading to Delhi, some scenes were shot outside Sector 25 and the scene where the police was tracing Hemraj, was shot in the slum area of Sector 9. To maintain the authenticity of the story, the makers shot in Aarushi’s grandfather’s house in Jalvayu Vihar. The house has the same structure as that of Aarushi’s house.” The Times of  India : 11th. Nine years since daughter's murder, Jalvayu Vihar no-go zone for the Talwars

The Allahabad High Court on Thursday acquitted the dentist couple Rajesh and Nupur Talwar in the murder of their daughter Aarushi Talwar in 2008. While Talwars have been given a benefit of doubt in the case, a lot has changed for the residents of Jalvayu Vihar in Noida where the unfortunate incident took place. 

It was on the night of May 14, 2008, when Aarushi Talwar was murdered in her parents' owned home -- L-32 Jalvayu Vihar, Noida. The two-bedroom flat came under an oppressive media glare after the incident. 

The apartment complex inhabited by the retired air force and naval officers shies from talking about the topic of the sensational double murder case. 

A neighbour Ashish was among the very few who spoke about the murder.

He told PTI, "No parent can do this to their child," he said before retreating into his L-Block house. 

One resident identified D Singh said, "If not the Talwars, then who killed Aarushi? However, we are happy that they have been acquitted."

However, the helpers had another story. One worker said, "The rich can get themselves acquitted. In the Nithari case too, (Moninder Singh) Pandher was acquitted. The poor cannot expect justice."

Another said, "Hemraj's relatives should challenge the acquittal at the Supreme Court."

Not one to be spotted in the area, the couple, according to the residents, has not visited the place since 2008. 

Nupur and Rajesh Talwar moved out of the flat after the incident and rented it. They shifted to South Delhi's Hauz Khas. 

A washerwoman, who has been running her shop near the Talwar apartment for nearly 25 years, said the couple had not been spotted in the area since the fateful summer night.
