Stay healthy during exam week with these brainfoods
Exam week can be a very stressful if not the most stressful point in the semester. As a student myself, I am definitely guilty of studying all day and then resorting to an easy fast-food meal as a reward. A student might feel like they deserve it after all the work they have been doing; however, what they really deserve is to be feeding their body the right fuel.
Studies show that there are things we can consume, nick-named âbrain foodsâ, that help our brain function and overall enhance our performance. According to Healthline.com, âThe foods you eat play a role in keeping your brain healthy and can improve specific mental tasks, such as memory and concentration.â
It is important for students to have high energy and boost their immune systems on weeks where they need to give their 100%. The following drink and foods can help you do just that!
Blueberries:
Darker berries contain compounds like anthocyanins that have been shown to enhance mental performance in ways such as articulation and reaction time. Anthocyanins is a group of plant compounds with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects, which ultimately fights against stress and brain inflammation. Studies have shown that blueberriesâ main benefit for students is help in improving memory.
Eggs:Â
Considering how small these guys are, there impact is fairly big when it comes to brain function. The magic in eggs, however, can be found in their yolks. According to a 2019 study done by Kucab et al., eating eggs with yolk is associated with better short-term learning, memory scores, and attention spans.
Coffee:
I am sure a lot of you coffee-lovers out there are happy to see this one the list. Although coffee in excess most definitely has its harmful effects, in moderation it can actually benefit you. According to Healthline.com, black coffee promotes focus and alertness by giving you extra caffeine and antioxidants without all the sugar or processing found in most other products.
Students are often so busy throughout the end of the semester that they lose sight of maintaining their health. I, along with many others, find myself underestimating the power of food and how big of a role in plays in my daily functioning. So next time think before you bite, because it all comes down to remembering that food thatâs good for you makes you feel good.

3 Spring Cleaning Tips
Itâs time to open the windows and let the fresh air in, because winter is now over! Spring is finally here! With the beginning of this delightful season comes the tradition of cleaning up the house. Remember to include these three areas on your list:

Carpets
Carpets differ in a number of ways. There are low loop carpets (think Berber) and more plush/shaggy carpets. These can come with or without stain protection, and may be made of anything from 100 percent wool to synthetic fibers.
Letâs start with low-pile, looped carpets. While they are great for high-traffic areas, they may not be as apt to give up stains as plush carpets. You have to have patience when cleaning low-pile/looped carpeting; use a lot of elbow grease.
With a little bit of patience, you can have the carpet you love back looking and smelling wonderful again. Plus, if you are saving money for new carpeting, this helps you extend the life of your current flooring a little longer. That means more dollars in your purse AND a beautiful, spring-clean home. Closet
Organizing your closet is the first step to organizing the rest of your home. Get rid of unused clothes and accessories, and organize the rest by how you get dressed in the morning and by color. Your closet will look appealing, and your everyday routine will be easier. Source: HouseBeautiful
Walls
The walls may not look as if they need a bathâdust and soot fall to the floor, right? Most of it does, but just enough clings to vertical surfaces to warrant a seasonal or pre-holiday bath. Use a sponge and hand dishwashing detergent, washing the surface in sections. A sponge mop makes it easier to reach higher spots. Use two buckets: one for dishwashing detergent solution and another for wringing your sponge. Dry the walls and woodwork with a clean cloth. Source: RD
Need help on cleaning your carpet because it has become too dingy to DIY? Weâd be more than happy to help. Call us!

On Turning 25
đˇ: Nirzar Pangarkar Two years ago, I made a promise to myself. I promised that I would smile, that I would focus on the bright side, that that I would fall in love with myself and the world around me, that I would give my energy and attention to the people and things that I care about, that I would take time to pursue writing at an even more serious level, and that I would deepen my relationshipâŚ
