My Shiny Teeth and Me

Quick idea I had after seeing the story and post about Flo going to the dentist while he’s in Australia (which was adorable lol) and I hope you guys like it☺️!
Pairing: Florian MunteanuxBlack Reader
Warning(s): None, all fluff💕
“Lennox! C’mon buddy or you’re gonna be late for the dentist.” Holding the small Spider-Man backpack in his hand, he waits on the other side of the playground fence for the four-year-old to finish saying bye to all his friends, smiling to himself at how adorable the pre-schooler looked.
“Mommy can’t come?,” he asks, small hand being completely enveloped by Florian’s as they crossed the parking lot.
“No not this time, remember she’s still at work but is gonna meet us after to eat ok?”
“Ok,” he replies with a pout as he’s buckled in his car seat.
“Hey don’t look so sad, we’re still gonna have fun!,” he smiles, tickling him under his chin until he begins squirming in his seat from his fit of giggles.
Knowing how nervous he was, Florian tried his best to make Lennox laugh or get his mind off of what was coming the whole car ride to the appointment. However, he wasn’t really up for fun right at the moment.
Like most kids his age, he was afraid of the dentist and had been despising this day since the last appointment when he found out he’d have to come again. It also didn’t help that his mom wouldn’t be there, who usually would take him to his appointments and hold his hand to make him feel better.
Both you and Florian told him that he would hold his hand and comfort him, but Lennox still wanted you there. Although he didn’t say anything about it, you were sure that he probably felt some type of way from his son treating you as if you were the favorite parent.
Walking through the wooden doors of the office, Lennox clings onto his dad’s leg as he walks up to sign him in.
“Hey Mr. Munteanu, how’s everything?,” Dr. Edwards asks while walking another patient out.
“Good! But Lennox is still a bit nervous,” he answers whispering the last part. Holding on as if he were a scared cat caught in a tree, Lennox buries his face behind his father’s knee.
“I see, well Lennox I promise it won’t hurt. I’m just gonna clean your teeth so they can stay healthy.”
“Right, and I’ll be there too so nothing will happen to you.”
Taking turns looking from Florian to the dentist, he slowly let’s go and moves to stand beside him. “Ok, I’m ready.”
Following Dr. Edwards to the exam room, Lennox sits in the chair fiddling with his hands as he nervously looks at the tools on the table beside him.
“I know you’re still a bit nervous so how about I do a quick exam on your dad so you can see what all I do? You can even help me if you want?”
Handing him the tool with the small mirror on it, the small child slightly perks up at this idea as he nods his head.
“Great! First let’s look in his mouth with the mirror to make sure we don’t see anything bad,” he explains helping Lennox guide the tool around Florian’s mouth.
“I don’t see anything how about you Dr. Lennox?”
“Nope! All clean!,” he answers handing the tool back to Dr. Edwards. “Good job tata!”
“Next, we’d use this tool to get in between the teeth to get out anything stuck like food. Then if everything’s ok, we’d start brushing with this.”
Watching him hold up the humming tool, Lennox nervously grabs Florian’s hand letting out a soft whimper.
“It’s ok! See it doesn’t hurt.” Holding out his hand, he lets Dr. Edwards use the electric toothbrush on his hand, circling it around a couple times to show nothing would happen.
After watching his dad for a few minutes, he holds out his hand so the dentist can do the same to him.
“So do you think you can sit in the chair like a big boy and get your teeth cleaned?,” Florian asks, lightly playing with the curls on top of Lennox’s head.
“...yea I think so.”
———
“MOMMY!!! I’M BIG LIKE TATA!!” Running up to you when you got close enough to the table, Lennox jumps into your arms hugging you tight.
“You are! I take it the dentist went well?,” you ask leaning over to kiss Florian as you sit down.
“It did, he helped the dentist check my teeth so he could get comfortable, and then he sat in the chair and said he was ready.”
“Yea I was a big boy!! And I got a sticker and toothbrush!” Holding up his plastic bag, he shows you his new lime green toothbrush, travel sized toothpaste, floss, and Spider-Man sticker.
“Oh wow that’s great love! I’m so proud of you!!,” you smile kissing his forehead.
“And then after, tata went to Krispy Kreme and got us do-,”
“Ok buddy let’s let mommy order her food yea?,” Florian interrupts gently covering the small child’s mouth making him giggle.
“Be glad I’m too excited about him not being afraid anymore that I’ll ignore the donuts,” you smirk, glancing at Florian before looking at the menu to figure out what you wanted.
“Mommy I want tata to always take me. We have fun!,” Lennox smiles before starting to color in his small booklet.
“Oh ok, yea that’s fine love.” Although you were smiling, you couldn’t lie and say that it didn’t hurt how he seemingly didn’t need or want you to go with him anymore. Clearly reading your mood, Florian slides your chair closer to him and wraps an arm around your shoulders.
“Babe it’s ok, he loves you and will still want you to take him.”
“Yea I know, but it’s like I’ve been replaced,” you slightly pout lying your head on his arm as you watch your son in his own little world continue coloring.
“Well remember what you told me, although it may seem like it Lennox doesn’t have a favorite parent and loves us equally.”
“That was when I was the favorite though,” you reply making Florian laugh in his signature boisterous style.
“Then maybe you’d still be the favorite if you bought him donuts,” he smirks before sitting back and sipping his water as you smack at his chest.

First Day
Hey guys! So today was the first day of school for kids in my hometown (not for me though since I don’t have to worry about school for a while lol), and I thought of this cute imagine idea and just wanted to write it really quick, if you guys don’t mind :). Also, since it was a last minute idea, I hope it makes sense and doesn't sound terrible. For anyone that follows me or sees this and you’re going back to school/college, good luck, you got this, and I wish you much success this year/semester and for all those that come after!! <3
Warnings: None (just fluff!)
Word Count: 1,707
“Wake up Mama, Tata! It’s the first day of school!,” your five-year old son, Atlas, shouts, jumping on your bed. “Sweety, remember I said I was gonna come in and wake you when it was time?,” you yawn turning over towards your very hyper child.
“I know, but I’m excited!,” he answers plopping down beside you to hug your neck just as your alarm chimes and vibrates your beside table. “Tata!! Wake up! The alarm said so!,” he exclaims now climbing on Florian’s abdomen and poking his cheeks.
“But I don’t want to,” he groans pulling the covers up closer to him and covering Atlas’ head, which made him giggle. “Nooo I’m the one going to school, you have to take me!,” he corrects removing the sheet from his head and scooting closer to his father’s face.
“I know I know I’m just messing with you my sweet prinţ,” Florian smiled picking Atlas up and holding him in the air as he sat up, causing his giggle fit to return. Fully awake now from your adorable wake up call, you and Florian both got out of bed to begin getting ready for the day.
You tried not to think too much of it, but watching your son play as you made breakfast started to make you more emotional as time passed. It seemed as if it was yesterday that you brought him home from the hospital, bundled up in a small white blanket.
Now was his first day of kindergarten and you didn’t know how you were going to make it without crying every 10 minutes. If only you could turn back time to where he was a baby again, and freeze it so you could keep him that small forever and cuddle him.
“Mama look! I look like Tata!,” you heard Atlas say, taking you out of your thoughts. “Ohh you do love! You look so handsome!,” you smile bending down to kiss his cheek.
Last night, Florian said that he wanted to dress him for his first day, which made you figure that he would have something up his sleeve, but you couldn’t figure out what until now. Wearing his school uniform of khaki’s and a navy blue polo shirt, he also had on white Air Force 1s and a gold cross chain Florian recently bought him.
“Babe are you sure you want him to go to school in his chain? What if something happens to it?,” you ask walking with Atlas to the table to help him sit in his chair to eat. “It’s the first day, my boy’s gotta look fresh!,” Florian responds lightly pinching his cheeks and making him giggle. “Plus if anybody messes with you, what did Tata teach you to do?”
“Punch them in the face!,” your son responds with a mouth full of waffles, standing up in his chair to throw air punches. It amazed you how much he was like Florian.
Atlas might’ve looked just like you, but from his green eyes to his mannerisms and facial expressions, he was definitely his father’s child. “Alright Mike Tyson, sit down before you fall,” you laugh grabbing his backpack to put his lunch in as well as some of his supplies. “What did mommy tell you to do though if someone messes with you?”
“To first tell the teacher and then if they put their hands on me, that’s when I punch them,” he answers sitting down and finishing his breakfast. “Exactly,” you wink at Florian, in turn making him playfully roll his eyes at you as he sat down to eat his food.
Once you and Florian were dressed, and double checked to make sure Atlas had everything, you all left to drop him off at school. You were glad that Florian drove, because the closer you guys came to the school grounds, the more emotional you could feel yourself getting.
You thought about all the what ifs that could happen while he was away from home, like someone picking on him or him getting lost trying to get to the library, for example, and having a meltdown. As if he could sense your nervousness, Florian softly squeezed your hand as he brought it up to his lips, which was his way of telling you that everything would be okay.
“Eww!,” Atlas said from the backseat with a giggle as he covered his eyes. “Hey you’re gonna have a girlfriend that you’re gonna do that with one day,” Florian smiled peeking at him through the rearview mirror.
“No I’m not, girls are icky,” Atlas replies playing with his Woody and Buzz Lightyear toys. “You say that now, but once you’re a teenager you’ll be saying something different,” you softly laugh turning around to tickle his legs.
Now you were thinking about him being a teenager in high school and then going off to college, which made you want to sob even more.
__________
Walking up to his classroom, you told yourself you needed to keep it together not only so you wouldn’t look like THAT parent, but also so Atlas wouldn’t start getting emotional himself and not want to go. Although he didn’t seem like he didn’t want to go in, you could tell that he was nervous about this new environment from how close he held yours and Florian’s hand to his face, almost shielding his eyes.
“Hello, I’m Mrs. Bloom,” a short, middle-aged woman with long red hair cheerily greeted as you three walked into the classroom. “And who might you be young man?”
“Atlas Munteanu,” he shyly answered from behind your leg. “His name is actually Florian Atlas Munteanu, but having two Florian’s in one house can get confusing so he goes by Atlas,” Florian answers with a small laugh, playing with one of Atlas’ curls.
“Ohh such a pretty name for a handsome boy! If you want, you can go find your seat and talk with the other kids while I talk with your parents,” Mrs. Bloom smiled, bending down to talk to Atlas. Looking up at the both of you, he squeezed your hands a bit tighter, signaling how he didn’t want to move from his spot between you and Florian.
“It’s ok love, you can go find your seat,” you smile squatting down next to him. “Remember what we talked about last night.” “That everything will be ok,” he responds looking down at his feet. “But what if they don’t like me?,” Atlas whispered in your ear, nearly making your heart break and take him home at that moment, forgetting about the first day of school.
“Then they’re crazy because you are the smartest, funniest, kindest, and coolest kid that they’ll ever meet,” you smile as you whisper back in his ear. Appreciating your mini pep talk, he hugs your neck and kisses your cheek before turning to Florian to do the same and going to find his desk.
“I take it you must be Florian 1,” she smiles shaking Florian’s hand before turning towards you. “And your name dear?”
“Y/N. Nice to meet you Mrs. Bloom,” you smile shaking her hand as well. “Nice to meet you both! Just to let you know, today will be pretty light as far as teaching, and homework is rarely given unless it’s unfinished classwork,” she explains taking turns looking at both you and Florian. “Were there any questions you had for me, or any information I needed to know about Atlas?”
“I don’t think we have any questions, but I do have a list of secondary phone numbers just in case something happens and for some reason you can’t get either one of us,” you mention handing her the folded up sheet of paper from your pocket. “And these are 2 of his uncle’s numbers too if you can’t get anyone on the list,” Florian adds handing the teacher a piece of paper with Masias’ and Sandro’s number on it.
“Ok thank you, I’ll keep these in his file. I guess if there’s nothing else then I’ll see both of you this afternoon!,” she smiles before you all say your goodbyes. Taking one last look at Atlas before you guys leave, you see him sitting at his desk talking with one of his classmates and coloring.
“Just wait until you get to the car, then you can cry all you want,” you repeat to yourself trying to hold back your tears. Holding onto Florian’s arm as you guys walk out the classroom, you hear a light knock on the window causing both of you to turn around to see Atlas holding up a sign that he colored saying “I LOVE YOU!,” and waving at the both of you.
Waving back at him, you wait until he turns around to go back to his seat and continue his conversation with his new friend before you bury your head in Florian’s chest, fully sobbing in the middle of the hallway. “It’s ok love, we’ll see him in a few hours. Please don’t cry,” he whispers as he rubs up and down your back trying to soothe you.
“First drop off?,” you hear a man ask Florian to which he nods, still holding you and rubbing your back. “I understand, been there three times,” he softly laughs before handing Florian tissues and patting him on the shoulder. “It’s gonna be alright guys.”
Thanking the man, you expected for Florian to hand you the tissues, but was caught off guard to hear his sniffles and him blowing his nose. Looking up, you see him wiping tears from his red eyes and off his equally red cheeks making your heart melt.
“Aww babe, you’re crying too,” you softly laugh wiping the drops of tears that still sat on his beard. “Yea I know I’m a big softy,” he lightly chuckles wiping the tears from your eyes as well.
“And there’s nothing wrong with that. You’re my big softy and I love you for that,” you smile taking his hands to kiss his knuckles. “I love you too. Now we might want to leave before Atlas sees us, or we get judged more than we already have been,” Florian laughs as you both walk out of the school hand in hand.

Water And Its Magical Properties
The 24th of March was World Water Day. I realized that I didn’t write about water as an ingredient in my recipe, even though I promised I would write about all the ingredients that I use in my cake recipe.
Tumblr media
Water is an expression of life, being essential for everything that exists on this planet. It gives life, energizes nature, our bodies and spirits. As if by magic, water shapes us and energizes our body functions, in my cake recipe water gives shape and has different qualities.
Water has a real contribution in bringing all the ingredients together in perfect harmony. It blends the ingredients together in a natural process, by swirling and aerating the chocolate.
Moving to Montreal meant that I had to adapt the recipe to new environmental conditions. I had to get a better understanding of my new environment. You can’t control everything, but you can always act in different ways taking into account the factors and context you face. Until you find the balance and the right proportion it is a long and frustrating process. Butter, for example, can contain water, would you believe it? Butter with a high content of water can affect the consistency and density of the cream.
Tumblr media
Even if water is the purest and most subtle substance, it is pretentious and needs attention and moderation.
Where does water come from?
Water seems to be infinite, but it isn’t. It surrounds us, falling from the sky or coming from the deepest mountains, from oceans and large coastlines, from endlessly flowing rivers and from the quiet lakes. From nature’s transformation. It comes from the deepest reaches of the earth.  Where you can also  find deep wishes and fears.
Water is a spectacular substance used in a purified state. Its power of harmonizing gives life and form of expression. I like to believe that water is an artist that makes magic.
The blend of ingredients energizes your senses and makes your taste buds dance with pleasure and delight.
Let me drive you through a journey of taste and sensations.
Tumblr media
Using water in all its states
Water takes on many forms. It can be in a solid, liquid or gas state. Think about the meanings of all of these states and how they can all work together in a magical and transformative way. Through the complexity of the hand-made process, to the dissection of the facts and truths, to the acceptance of reality that sometimes is like a fourth dimension that makes you see outside the box.
Solid through its density
Cooling the cream is always a challenge, especially when you bake a large quantity of cakes. Last year when I was back in Romania for the winter Holidays, I baked for my friends in Bucharest for 10 days. It was a challenge, after that experience I realized that I need a professional mixer in my kitchen, and I bought one immediately after returning to Montreal.
This offered me the possibility to bake more than one cake at the same time.
Tumblr media
But sometimes I dream of a big room full of ice, where I can just drop the cream and cool it in seconds as if by magic. Once upon a time I saw a refrigerated pantry in a friend’s kitchen. It was like seeing a dream in front of my eyes. I felt fortunate that I could see it before  my eyes, it was easier to imagine.
Can you imagine that?
The cake can be frozen. If you want to keep the cake for a longer time, and you can resist the temptation of eating it all, or if you want to send it across longer distances, it is recommended that it be frozen. Some dear friends of mine from Romania kept a cake in the freezer for one year eating it slice by slice for the entire year. The conclusion was that the cream was fresh enough, but the sponge cake wasn’t as moist it was on the first day - after a year.
Humidity and very cold temperatures are to be avoided, but the jars full of magic can be kept at room temperature for not more than 48 hours. If they are left out longer, the product should still be good, but there may be changes in texture.
Due to the airtight glass container, the jar full of magic has a longer shelf-life, up to 3 weeks, if it is kept in the refrigerator at a temperature between 0 and 4 C.
Tumblr media
The jars can also be frozen for longer storage; after defrosting, in order to maintain the same creamy texture, the cake should be eaten within 5 days.
The cakes are recommended to be eaten when the cream is melting, but still in a cold state.
Liquid - Sometimes I have the impression that time liquefies
Water is essential for our existence, for our health. We can’t live without it, it gives us and everything around us life.
As in nature, water also has a purifying quality in my recipe, but too much water can be harmful because it accelerates bacterial growth.
Water harmonizes ingredients and brings form and smoothness to the chocolate cake, it also intensifies the flavour.
Each ingredient I use has to be in perfect harmony and proportions with the other ingredients in my cake recipe.
Tumblr media
“Ultimately, water will do its job to energize you and give you life then quietly take its leave; it will move mountains particle by particle with a subtle hand; it will paint the world with beauty then return to its fold and rejoice; it will travel through the universe and transform worlds; it will transcend time and space to share and teach. Water is magic.” - Nina Munteanu
With a touch to the mouth, the texture and the decadent taste of the cake electrifies all senses.
We use water to hydrate and balance our body but also in our cooking and baking recipes. Water purifies and homogenizes ingredients together and also changes their shape.
How do we purify water?
There are a few methods of purifying water. The most common and handy is to boil the water or to use a water filter.
Ignorance is not healthy, it can bring evaporation.
Tumblr media
Steaming is an old method of cooking that dates back 5000 years. Steaming is considered a healthy cooking technique that can be used for many kinds of food. I love to use it for broccoli and asparagus.
Water dissolves and gives shape and smoothness airing the consistency. Royally creamy, with the flagrance of the pure cocoa balanced by the tenderness of the sponge cake. Heavenly!
Water Vapor
The fog envelops the fragrance of the pure cocoa fruit harmonizing with the sweetness and richness of the other ingredients. The whole process of hand making this magical cake is a learning process, a process of relief, creation and enlightenment, a process of elevation of taste. We should always be aware of sharing our knowledge with others in the most beautiful way we can.
“Water vapor is one state of the water cycle within the hydrosphere. Water vapor can be produced from the evaporation of liquid water or from the sublimation of ice. Under normal atmospheric conditions, water vapor is continuously generated by evaporation and removed by condensation.”
A delicate blend of carefully selected ingredients, pure cocoa, European style butter, sugar, eggs, water, a little bit of flour that also gives form to the cake, and of course, a lot of love.
Tumblr media
The fluidity and density of blending dark and fragrant cocoa with European style butter that brings consistency and texture is a process where when you bake you start understanding that you have to be friends with water in any form it may appear. Humidity and steam are also forms of water and you have to take into account all of these factors to get the density and texture you want for the cream.
In the end I believe that water is magical from any perspective you look at it. I feel lucky that here in Canada water is free everywhere you go, even in the restaurants. It makes you feel that it truly is a human right.
We are water. Water is the most important nutrient for the body’s functions. In the same magnificent way that water is a required ingredient in my recipe. It dissolves and shapes the cake. It took me a while until I got to the right proportion of all the ingredients, especially when I moved to Montreal and I had to re-adapt to the local ingredients. But water, in any state can be a blessing, or it can be a disaster. Even the humidity in the air can change the texture.
I love water, I love swimming in the ocean, I enjoy seaside sunsets, … and I love cakes. I am actually passionate about a magical chocolate cake that I first ate when I was 7 years old and since then I have never tasted a better one.
I have been baking this cake for more than 15 years and since then I continue to learn about baking it and the phenomena of baking, and I can tell you that it is a real journey full of adventure.
Learning how to take notes, how to analyse results and how to do things that can lead to a better result. I am doing my best and I am learning step by step how to find more creative ways to spread magic with Weiner’s Chocolate. It is still a process of introspection and of developing the easiest way for Montreal’s chocolate lovers to buy Weiner’s chocolate cake.
Tumblr media
Electrify your senses, pure chocolate cream, homemade using a secret recipe, baked with love and handcrafted with care.
The cake can be found in a variety of sizes, ready to satisfy your needs and to  bring joy to your special moment or celebration. The truth is that each day can be a real celebration!
The jars full of magic filled with royally irresistible chocolate cake, homemade using a secret recipe, baked with love by Adina Weiner can be found at L’Or en Grain in Plateau Mont-Royal.

Guest Post, Kelly Morris: Where I'm Writing From
Guest Post, Kelly Morris: Where I’m Writing From
I’ve recently realized the importance of my own physical setting as an influence in my writing. When I’m working on a story, I like to write at my desk while drinking a particular type of green tea out of a specific mug. But sometimes I make myself go out and write in a coffee shop or bookstore, if only to remember why I like writing at home (and to reassure myself I am not a completely neurotic…
