Money? Nightshade giggled. "Oh no biggie, this one's on me!" she assured with a wave of her manicured hand. She approached the tree, looking left and right, to see if there was anyone particularly paying attention to them. Not much of a crowd here at this time of day. While people climbed trees all the time and wouldn't seem like much of an issue, people rarely did it in mini-skirts.
She was wearing bike shorts underneath but still; not exactly the outfit of choice for climbing activities.
She got to work, jumping from the ground and latching onto the bark without issue. Her nails and limbs were strong. Her comically spherical bat-shaped backpack swayed from side to side as she climbed up the tree and maneuvered the branches until she reached the one where the figure's bag hung from. She pounced, unhooked the bag, and backflipped her way down.
"Ta-daa!" She landed squarely on her feet, her hands outstretched above her head in a Y formation. She crouched down by the figure, still lying on the ground, to hand over the bag. "Here you go-oh!" she stopped, only now smelling the blood. "You scratched your hands!"
A question. Daughter moved her arm to rest above her eyes so she could see the other looking down at her. Sincere concern, as far as Daughter could tell, which was a rarity that sent a ripple of something through her, something that tightened her throat.
How long had she been watching? Hopefully not too long. Embarrassment washed over them.
“I’m not sure,” she replied, in response to the query about her head. Her fall and landing blurred in her mind. She rubbed her forehead and then felt the back of her head, brushing away a few leaves from her scruffy hair in the process. Blood from her hands left stains where she touched. She didn’t feel any serious lumps or bumps, though. “I don’t think so.” Still, she didn’t trust herself to stand yet without collapsing, so she stayed on the ground for now.
An offer of help. Daughter exhaled and stared up at her bag. It truly was high up, swaying in the breeze. She had gotten better at climbing over the years, but she still made mistakes at times. “Ah… alright. Please be careful.” They didn’t want her to fall as well. Uncertainty creased her brow as she remembered what most people requested in return for such favors. “I don’t have any money to give you, though.”
