LADY GAGA TO RECEIVE âALWAYS NEXT, FOREVER AWARDâ AT LOGOâS FOURTH ANNUAL âNEWNOWNEXT AWARDSâ 2011
Logoâs âNewNowNext Awardsâ 2011 TelecastPremieres Monday, April 11th at 10/9C on Logo
To Tweet This Release: http://logo.to/gxHRZ0 NEW YORK, NY March 28, 2011 â Logo, the entertainment network for gays, lesbians and their families and friends announced today that award-winning, multi-platinum recording artist and provocative, dynamic entertainment personality Lady Gaga will be honored with the âAlways Next, Forever Nowâ Award at the âNewNowNext Awardsâ 2011. Given annually, this special award pays homage to a beloved pop icon. Due to her tour schedule, Lady Gaga will accept the award remotely unveiled in front of a live audience at the showâs taping at the Avalon in Hollywood on April 7th.
Past recipients for the âAlways Next, Forever Nowâ Award include Britney Spears, Janet Jackson and Paula Abdul.
Lady Gaga is no âordinaryâ pop star, but rather a force of creative energy. Her groundbreaking live performances, outspoken nature and utter devotion to her art have afforded her a rabid fan base around the globe.
"We knew the moment Lady Gaga made her inaugural television appearance on our first âNewNowNext Awardsâ back in 2008, she was destined for big things," said Dave Mace, Logoâs Senior Vice President of Original Programming. "In three short years, her ferocious talent and unending activism have earned her âiconâ status for millions of âlittle monstersâ and Logo viewers. All throughout her whirlwind rise, sheâs remained a friend to Logo and weâre honored to have her back on the show. Simply put, she rocks our world."
Gaga came to prominence following the release of her debut studio album The Fame (2008), which included the hits âJust Dance,â âPoker Face,â âBad Romanceâ and sold over 15 million copies worldwide. The album earned her six Grammy nominations and two wins as well as a slew of other awards recognition, including a record-setting 13 MTV Video Award Music nominations. Gaga is the first artist in history to claim four #1 hits from a debut album (âJust Dance,â âLove Game,â âPoker Faceâ and âPaparazziâ).
She is the only artist in the digital era to top the five million sales mark with her first two hits. Gaga broke the record when her single âPoker Faceâ reached five million in sales after her debut single âJust Danceâ accomplished the same feat the year before. She has over one billion combined views of all her videos online. She is also a staple in the social networking world. She is one of the biggest living people on Facebook.com with over 31 million âlikesâ and is #1 on Twitter with over nine million followers.
Her studio album, âBorn This Way,â is scheduled for release on May 23rd, 2011. The first single from the album, the title track âBorn This Way,â set a music industry record becoming the fastest single in history to reach sales of one million copies (five days after its February 11th release). Lady Gagaâs third #1 song, the recording debuted at the #1 spot in 14 countries, including the U.S.; only the 19th single to ever debut at #1 on the âBillboard Hot 100â (issue date February 26th). The single has been #1 on âBillboard Hot 100â for six weeks and has hit #1 on âTop 40.â
Gaga is well-recognized for her outrĂ© sense of style as a recording artist, in fashion, in performance and in her music videos. Her contributions to the music industry have garnered her numerous achievements including five Grammy Awards amongst twelve nominations, two Guinness World Records and the estimated sale of 15 million albums and 51 million singles worldwide.Billboard named her both the â2010 Artist of the Yearâ and the top selling artist of 2010 ranking her as the 73rd artist of the 2000s decade. Gaga has been included in Timeâs annual âThe 2010 Time 100â list of the most influential people in the world as well as Forbesâ list of âThe Worldâs Most Powerful Celebritiesâ in the world. Forbes also placed her at number seven on their annual list of the worldâs â100 Most Powerful Women.â
Now in its fourth year, the âNewNowNext Awardsâ gathers icons and stars-on-the-rise to crown the next âbig thingsâ in TV, music, film, print and new media long before they hit the mainstream.
Winners will be revealed Monday, April 11th at 10/9C, on Logoâs âNewNowNext Awardsâ 2011 show. The 90-minute special will be taped in front of a live audience of todayâs hottest emerging and seasoned artists at Hollywoodâs Avalon on April 7th.

To Tweet This Release: http://logo.to/h7b53I
NEW YORK, NY March 7, 2011 â Logo, the entertainment network for gays, lesbians and their families and friends announced today that international pop sensation, Robyn, will headline the âNewNowNext Awardsâ 2011 live musical performances. Joining Robyn will be electro-pop act Oh Land and dance-music diva Wynter Gordon. The âNewNowNext Awardsâ musical acts showcase on-the-brink performers who will undoubtedly break big in the upcoming months. Most notably, Lady Gaga made her first televised appearance on the âNewNowNext Awardsâ before she went on to claim her stake as pop royalty. The âNewNowNext Awardsâ gathers icons and stars on the rise to crown the next âbig thingsâ in TV, music, film, print and new media long before they hit the mainstream. Catch Robyn, Oh Land and Wynter Gordon perform on the âNewNowNext Awardsâ 2011 premiering Monday, April 11th at 10/9C on Logo.
Fresh off her U.S. and European tour and a sold-out performance at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, Swedish recording artist, singer and songwriter Robyn will deliver pop stardom at this yearâs awards.  Robyn gained popularity in the late 1990s for her worldwide dance-pop hit âDo You Know (What It Takes)â from her debut album Robyn Is Here (1997).  The popularity of her number one hit-single âWith Every Heartbeat,â and subsequent album release Robyn (2005), brought her mainstream success worldwide.  In January 2009, Robyn won a Swedish Grammis award for âBest Live Act 2008.â
Robyn recently released Body Talk Pt. 1, the first installment of her ambitious three-part album release in 2010. Lead single âDancing On My Own,â the heartbreaking heir to âWith Every Heartbeat,â went top ten in the U.K. accompanied by mass critical praise for the album. âDancing on My Ownâ garnered Robyn a 53rd GRAMMYÂź award nomination for âBest Dance Recording.â  The follow-up album, Body Talk Pt. 2, released on September 6 debuting at number one on the Swedish charts and the final album of the trilogy, Body Talk, released on November 22, 2010 to critical praise from the press including People, US Weekly, Rolling Stone, Spin and Pitchfork.
Oh Land emerged as one of the most talked about new artists for 2011, landing on many criticsâ must-listen lists in advance of her self-titled debut album. The 11 song album that will be released by Epic Records on March 15th is a mix of lavish loops and layered vocals that pound through on songs like the albumâs first single âSun of a Gun.â Dan Carey (The Kills, Franz Ferdinand, Hot Chip) and Dave McCracken (Depeche Mode, BeyoncĂ©, AFI) co-created this album with Oh Land full of rich harmonies, beautiful symphonic arrangements to accompany her enchanting voice. Oh Land made her U.S. television debut on âLate Show with David Lettermanâ and will perform on âLate Night with Jimmy Kimmel,â âLate Late Show with Craig Fergusonâ and âLast Call with Carson Daly.â Oh Land is currently touring with OMD for her first-ever North American tour and will appear at SXSW with over 10 shows planned.
Singer/songwriter Wynter Gordon gives dancefloor divas and music heads alike a new reason to âbelieveâ with her ethereal voice and playful personality. The single âDirty Talkâ from her forthcoming debut album, With the Music I Die, recently topped Billboardâs âDance Club Play Songsâ chart at number one, while her Freemasons-produced âBelieverâ climbs steadily on the U.K. charts. For the past two years, Wynter has traveled the globe collaborating with some of the biggest names in electronic music including David Guetta and Rhythm Masters. She recently performed at the Winter Music Conference and received two âInternational Dance Music Awardsâ nominations.Â
This yearâs NewNowNext winners will be revealed Monday, April 11th at 10/9C, on Logoâs âNewNowNext Awardsâ 2011 show. The 90-minute special will be taped in front of a live audience with todayâs hottest emerging and seasoned artists at the legendary Avalon in Hollywood, CA on April 7th. Presenters and special guests will be announced as they are confirmed.
Through its past discoveries, the âNewNowNext Awardsâ has proven its one step ahead of the hype by calling out some of todayâs hottest pop culture phenomenon long before they were on the mainstream radar.  Highlights include Lady Gagaâs first ever televised performance with a sizzling rendition of âJust Dance.â  Hit drama series âTrue Bloodâ received the âBest Show Youâre Not Watchingâ award months before its Emmy© nominations. Wendy Williams won âBest New Indulgenceâ before her daytime talk show âThe Wendy Williams Showâ went national.
The âNewNowNext Awardsâ builds on Logoâs acclaimed NewNowNext franchise, which includes LogoTV.comâs pop culture blog NewNowNext.com and two on-air music shows: âNewNowNext PopLab,â the home for party music in all its forms, and âNewNowNext Music,â the ultimate music video destination of todayâs hottest artists and emerging musicians.
