This is History in the making. This morning we attended the placement of the first Stolpersteine in Madrid in memory of the Spanish Republican citizens who suffered torture, prison and barbaric death in Nazi camps as a consequence of the Spanish Civil War and the genocide directed by Franco. Their memory lives on in our hearts and we will always remember them Viva la Republica!!! Este es un momento histórico. There are no words to describe the crimes that have been committed here. Two years ago I was working on a TV documentary about the the #SecondWorldWar and researched this quote of #ThomasMann, that best describes what had happened in German society around this time: "It was not a small number of criminals, there were hundreds of thousands of a so-called German elite, men, boys, and dehumanized women who had committed these acts under the influence of insane doctrines." ☠️🇵🇱
